The location of the collision sensors are positioned too low to allow consistent deployment of the airbags in the event of a collision with newer generation pickup trucks. The bumpers on the pickup trucks are too high, so a rear end collision results in the Toyota Corolla passing underneath the truck, and the air bag sensors do not sense the collision. The collision is only stopped when the windshield of the Toyota makes contact with the bumper, or the front of car impacts the axle of the pickup trucks.

My son drove the car to the store less than 2 miles from the house and the airbag light came on and stayed while he was driving. He looked up the light in the owners manual and it said take vehicle to the Toyota dealer immediately! I know multiple cars we have owned in the past have had airbag recalls. I can not remember if this one has ever been recalled and repaired in the past. I attached the photos of the light and the manual.

The warning lamp for the airbag came On and it has been On for about two weeks now. No issues with the airbag, though. Have not been to a dealer or repair shop for check up. Have not been inspected by any agency.

My 2005 Toyota Corolla airbags have been recalled AT LEAST TWICE already(?) and I have been to the dealer at least twice, for airbag recall repairs. Guess what? The red dashboard airbag light came on AGAIN! I took the 2005 Corolla to the Toyota dealer and the dealer announced that I have to pay for the latest airbag warning ️ dashboard light problem. Since the airbag is an obvious “problem area” for Toyota, and I never have used the airbags…I feel this latest “airbag problem” should be fixed, by Toyota for free. Toyotas infamous and repeated “airbag problem’” has reappeared… yet again! I don’t have the exact date and time the airbag warning light reappeared (again) and there was never an accident where the airbags were deployed, or a certain speed at which the warning light suddenly comes on. The airbag warning light is on 99% of the time. I also don’t have the mileage at which the airbag warning light reappeared (again) but there is currently approximately 146,000 miles on the 2005 car. Since I have NEVER USED the 2005 Corollas airbag and Toyota has a systematic, widespread, & REPEATEDLY fixed problem with this airbag, I wonder why should I have to pay for airbag repairs?

WHILE DRIVING ON PR HIGHWAY, WITHIN 10 MTS, THE CAR'S ENGINE STOPPED HAVING ENOUGH TIME TO PARK THE CAR ON THE EMERGENCY SIDE ROAD. SERPENTINE BELT ON CAR HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES CAR HAS ONLY 40,750 MILES ON IT FIRST REPLACED BELT AT 30,000 MILES. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL MECHANICS THAT THERE IS DEFECT WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL CAR THAT THE BELT WILL SQUEAL AND THEN STOPS AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR A FEW BLOCKS. ON A TRIP TO SOUTH CAROLINA FROM NEW JERSEY INTERSTATE DRIVING I EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. ISSUE IS : WHEN I COME UP ON SLOWER TRAFFIC AND HIT THE BRAKE THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES AS IT SHOULD BUT WHEN I LET UP OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES RAPIDLY ON IT'S ON WITHOUT HITTING THE RESUME LEVER. 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA 80,132 MILES THE CAR DIED YESTERDAY IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD. FORTUNATELY, MY SON WAS STILL CLOSE TO HOME AND I WAS ABLE TO HELP PUSH THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR ROAD SERVICE. WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED THE ENGINE AND COMPONENTS BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET POWER GOING TO THE FUEL PUMP. ALL RELAYS AND FUSES ARE GOOD. I PURCHASED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND THE CAR WILL STILL WILL NOT START. A TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED IT WAS A ECU FAILURE AND THESE HAD RECALLS.

IN 2011 THE ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) WAS REPLACED IN MY 2005 COROLLA AS PART OF A NATIONAL SAFETY RECALL AOJ. IN JUST UNDER 5 YEARS AND 22K MILES LATER THE REPLACED ECM STARTED DEMONSTRATING FAILING SYMPTOMS, INCLUDING MALFUNCTIONING TACHOMETER, ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, AND A/C MALFUNCTIONS. OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE ON THEIR REPLACED ECMS. BASED ON INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR THE ORIGINAL RECALL, THE ORIGINAL ECM ISSUE RELATES TO POOR SOLDERING JOINTS WITHIN THE ECM. THE ISSUE WITH THE REPLACED ECMS IS LIKELY THE SAME, ALTHOUGH THE AFFECTED ELEMENTS WITHIN THE ECM MAY DIFFER FROM OWNER TO OWNER. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND ASKED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY COST TO REPLACE THE 2ND ECM BUT THEY REFUSED. TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID PERFORMANCE. MY 18 OLD DAUGHTER JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM THIS MAN WHO HAD RESET THE CAR SO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF. AFTER US DRIVING IT HOME AND SERVER MILES LATER IT WENT OFF. HE SAID HE HAD FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION OIL AND THAT HIS MECHANIC HAD TOLD HIM TO JUST RESET IT AND IT WOULD BE FINE OBVIOUSLY IT WAS NOT FINE. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC WHO IS A VERY HONEST MECHANIC HAD STATED THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE . HE PULLED UP SOME RECALLS AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL DONE ON MODELS 04305 COROLLA UNFORTUNATELY THE VIN NUMBERS WERE 1ZZ -FE. I'M CALLING THE DEALERSHIPS AND ALL THEY CAN TELL ME IS THAT THIS MAY HAVE BEEN AN EXPIRED RECALL ON MY VEHICLE THEREFORE IT'S NO LONGER UNDER THE WARRANTY OF THE RECALL . THEY'RE NOT TELLING ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS THEY'RE JUST SAYING THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER . THE VEHICLE STARTED SHOWING THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" AND THE ERROR CODE SHOWN WAS P0741. THE ERROR CODE SUGGESTS ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH CONVERTER SOLENOID. THIS ISSUES SEEMS TO BE COMMON ON THE 2005 COROLLA AND COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE TRANSMISSION DIES IMMEDIATELY WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY OR HIGH-SPEED ROAD.

WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 6 MORE MILES TO DEALERSHIP, BUT MOVED TO RIGHT LANE AND WENT SLOWER. STILL WAS ABLE TO SHIFT, LOWER GEARS WEREN'T ENGAGING PROPERLY AND CAR STARTED DYING ON THE ROAD. DEALER DIAGNOSIS FOR $100 IS THAT IT NEEDS AN ENTIRE NEW 5 SPD TRANS AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, ALTHOUGH CLUTCH SEEMS FINE.I'VE DRIVEN MANUAL TRANS FOR OVER 40 YRS. THIS CAR NEVER EVEN HAD A CLUTCH REPAIR. RESEARCH ON THE WEB INDICATES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN POINT OF FAILURE THAT TOYOTA HAS CHOSEN NOT TO FIX AND THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF HAVING THIS TRANSMISSION BLOWING OUT AT HIGH SPEED COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR CRASH ON THE HIGHWAY HAD I NOT BEEN SKILLED AT GETTING THE CAR INTO A SAFE AREA. *TR

TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-95, SPEED 71 MPH, ENGINE STOPS. I CAREFULLY AND PROMPTLY PULL OVER TO RIGHT SHOULDER, CALL AAA AND HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO LOCAL FIRESTONE REPAIR FACILITY. AFTER PERFORMING DIAGNOSTIC FIRESTONE INFORMS ME THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED AND REPLACES THE FUEL PUMP. I REQUEST AND RECEIVE THE ORIGINAL FUEL PUMP. PREVIOUSLY I HAVE OWNED 3 COROLLAS AND HAVE DRIVEN EACH OF THEM OVER 150,000 MILES WITH NO FUEL PUMP FAILURES. IN APRIL,2011 TOOK CAR WITH 32120 MILES INTO DEALER FOR TOYOTA ENGINE COMPUTER RECALL REPLACEMENT.. SHORTLY AFTER REPLACEMENT APP. 50 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED TO DEALER ON 5/23/2011 MILEAGE AT THIS TIME WAS NOW 32599 AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST APP. $77 TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS THE GAS CAP WHICH WAS LEAKING FUMES. I DID NOT HAVE THE WORK DONE BUT I DID HAVE THE GAS CAP CHECKED AT A CERTIFIED SMOG STATION AND CAP WAS FOUND TO BE OK. I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE ANSWERS I WAS RECEIVING SO I CALLED TOYOTA CORP. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM CALL ME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. LATER THAT DAY THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND REQUESTED THAT I BRING THE CAR IN THAT DAY AND HE WOULD HAVE IT DIAGNOSED FOR FREE TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME THE SERVICE TECH. SAID THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM MY FUEL FILLER NECK AND GAS CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION AT A COST OF OVER $400. I ASKED IF THIS WAS COVERED BY TOYOTA BECAUSE THE CAR ONLY HAS 33763 MILES AND WAS TOLD NO, I LIVE IN A DRY DESERT AREA SO I DON'T SEE WHY I'M HAVING A RUST AND CORRISION PROBLEM. I LEFT THE CAR AND WENT HOME AND I GOGGLED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS COMMON ENOUGH THAT TOYOTA ISSUED A TSB #02206, I ALSO FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM NOT ONLY WITH THE COROLLA BUT THE TOYOTA CAMRY AND TUNDRA. I CALLED BACK AND CANCELLED THE WORK AND PICKED UP THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING. I ADVISED THE TECH WHAT I FOUND ON GOOGLE BUT HE WAS NOT WILLING TO LISTEN. Odometer on 2005 Corolla S stopped working at 299,999 miles. Will not roll over to 300,000. This has been a topic of discussion on many Toyota vehicle online forums and has been an ongoing issue for many similar makes/years/models. There were no prior warnings/messages related to the odometer not working any longer when it reaches any certain number. Several mechanics I have spoken to, including Toyota service advisors, have told me they are aware of this issue. No inspections have been done. Why would Toyota place an odometer in any of their vehicles that will stop working after reaching any specific number? They have prided themselves as cars that will go many miles. Why would they not disclose this to any Toyota owner? Why should the owner be liable for repairs on this issue when we did not install the part? Why has no recall been issued over this matter?

AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS STAY ON WHEN DRIVING, REGARDLESS OF WHERE TO DRIVE. HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED AT TOYOTA DEALER IN CONCORD, CA. THEY FOUND SPIRAL CABLE, LOCATED ON OR AT STEERING COLUMN, DEFECTIVE. AND IF LEFT UNFIXED, ACCORDING TO MY UNDERSTANDING, THE AIRBAG ON DRIVER SIDE POTENTIALLY UNEXPECTED DEPLOYED OR WONT DEPLOY AT ALL AT TIME OF ACCIDENT. THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON OUT OF NOWHERE AND FOR NO REASON. STAYED ON EVER SINCE. I DID NOTHING AND NO ACCIDENT WHAT SO EVER. ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER AND WAS OFFERED TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. I DECIDED TO DO RESEARCH FIRST AND FOUND A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE. SOME HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICES INCLUDING COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND CLOCK (WHICH HAPPENS TO HAVE FAULTY CIRCUIT THAT CAN RESULT IN THE WARNING LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY.) SOME HAVE PAID OVER $1K IN SERVICE FEES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT IT. THEY ARE NOT LOOKING TO OWN UP TO THIS QUALITY DEFECT. IT'S NOT A WEAR AND TEAR (VEHICLE AGE) ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN A BIG PROPONENT OF COOPER TIRES DUE TO THEIR MANUFACTURING PROCESSES. I'VE SINCE CHANGED MY MIND DUE TO THE 3 BLOW OUTS WE'VE HAD WITH THE CS4 TOURING (2) AND NOW MOST RECENT CS5 GRAND TOURING LINE. THE CS5 TIRES WERE PURCHASED LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. ALL HAVE BEEN ON THE SIDEWALL AND ALL HAVE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT APPEARS COOPER TIRES DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE LIVES! OBVIOUSLY QUALITY IS NOT ONE OF THEIR CORE VALUES. TRY BEING IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY AND HAVING A BLOW OUT THOSE ARE THE CONSEQUENCES. FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS HURT JUST EXTREMELY SCARED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY BACK TIRE'S SIDEWALL BLEW OUT AND I WAS FORCED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE TIRE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH PLENTY OF TREAD DEPTH LEFT. VEHICLE IS PARKED ON PAVEMENT AND NOT GRASS TO PROMOTE MOISTURE/DRY ROT. AFTER READING ON LINE, MICHELIN HAS RECALLED 100,000 TIRES LAST MONTH. A COWORKER STATED THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEIR MICHELIN TIRE LAST WEEK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE SMALLER MICHELIN TIRES. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE TIRE AND SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON. LUCKILY IT WAS A BACK TIRE AND I REMAINED IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

I HAVE PURCHASED A SET OF 4 HANKOOK OPTIMA 727 ALL SEASON TIRES ON 12/08/09. THESE ARE RATED FOR 100,000 MILES AND I HAVE DONE ABOUT 15,000 MILES. UNTIL RECENTLY I CONSIDERED THEM EXCELLENT BUT IN NOVEMBER AND MOST RECENTLY I HAVE FOUND THEM SKIDDING ON WET SURFACES AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS 25-35 MPH. ON A PATCH OF ICE THERE WAS SKIDDING AT AROUND 10 MPH. I DID HIT THE CURB. THE ROAD GRIP SEEMS WORSE THAN OTHER ALL SEASON TIRES I HAVE USED. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND THE PRESSURE TESTED. I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA AND IT HAS TOYO BRAND TIRES ON IT. THE TIRES HAVE 7/32" TREAD DEPTH WHICH IS 70% OF THE NEW 10/32" TIRE TREAD DEPTH. WHILE DRIVING FROM SOUTH AUSTIN TO SAN ANTONIO (70 MILES) THE TREAD AND BELTS SEPARATED FROM THE CARCASS OF THE TIRE WITH BARE METAL WIRES SHOWING WHERE THERE ONCE WAS TREAD. THE TIRE STILL HAD AIR IN IT BUT THE TREAD WAS PEELED OFF AND THE TREAD PIECES BEGAN TO STRIKE AGAINST THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE FENDER DESTROYING THE INNER FENDER LINER, DAMAGING THE VEHICLE FENDER, BREAKING OUT THE HEADLAMP AND FOG LIGHT FROM BEHIND AND RIPPING OUT THE HOOD RELEASE CABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT THE SPEED LIMIT AND THE TIRES WHERE PROPERLY INFLATED AT THE TIME OF THE DEFECT. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY OFFERED TO TAKE 25% OFF OF A NEW SET OF TIRES. I TOOK IT TO THE TIRE DEALER THAT THEY RECOMMENDED AND THE MAN SAID THE TIRES WERE 4 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD BE REPLACED, THESE ARE THE SAME AGE AS THE CAR AND THE CAR DOESN'T NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING AND IN MOTION, I'LL PUSH IN THE CLUTCH TO BRAKE OR COAST, THE RPMS GO DOWN UNTIL THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF, AND THE STEERING WHEEL GOES HARD. THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS STILL WORK, IN FACT ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, LIKE THE CHECK ENGINE AND MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHTS, ACTUALLY COME ON (JUST LIKE WHEN YOU'RE KEY IGNITION IS IN THE "ON" POSITION BUT YOU HAVEN'T STARTED THE ENGINE YET). THE CAR STARTS RIGHT BACK UP WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION OR POP THE CLUTCH WHILE IN GEAR. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ABOUT ONCE EVERY WEEK EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR OVER 4 YEARS AGO. I'VE READ ABOUT THE RECALL OF THE ECM FOR MY MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR, BUT WHEN I SEARCH MY VIN IT COMES BACK WITH NO CURRENT RECALLS. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE (PURCHASED FROM PRIVATE PARTY IN AUGUST OF 2015), I LEARNED OF THE AIRBAG RECALL AND TOOK IN AND GOT IT FIXED, BUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, ABOUT 2.5 YEARS AFTER TAKING IT IN FOR THE RECALL, MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, BUT I AM A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THE SRS LIGHT HAS COME ON. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN SURPRISED BY THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN, WHICH VERY EASILY COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AND NOW IF I DO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILS, THEN I COULD BE INJURED EVEN MORE SEVERELY OR DIE. CODE REVEALED WAS PO741( TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF) UPON VEHICLE INSPECTION FROM CANAL TRANSMISSION IN EL CAJON, CA. OWNER REVEALED THAT HE HAD COME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM ABOUT 10 TIMES WITH TOYOTA COROLLAS. HE REVEALED THAT EACH TIME HE TRIED TO FIX TORQUE CONVERTER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STILL REMAIN WITH SAME CODE AFTER REPAIR. HE SAID THEY FINALLY REALIZED THAT IT WAS AN ECM ISSUE AND NOT A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IN 2010 TOYOTA DID A RECALL ON ECM. SO WHAT DO I DO? CODE IS PREVENTING ME FROM GETTING A SMOG, YET WHEN REPAIR OF TORQUE CONVERTER ATTEMPTED CHECK ENGINE CODE PO741 STILL REMAINS. I CONTACTED DEALER REGARDING CODE, THEY SCANNED CAR, THE SAME CODE APPEARED. ALL THEY OFFERED WAS 400 TO TEAR INTO TRANSMISSION TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIND ISSUE. SO IN CLOSING , WE HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REVEALING CODE P0741; THAT WHEN REPAIRS ATTEMPTED ,REPAIR CANT SEEM TO BE FIXED SATISFACTORILY TO CLEAR THE LIGHT, BECAUSE THROUGH EXPERIENCE OF TRANSMISSION SHOP IT IS A FAULTY CODE AND THE REAL PROBLEM LIES WITHIN THE ECM, WHICH WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED DURING TOYOTA RECALL. SO WHAT DO I DO? I NEED MY CAR SMOGGED TO DRIVE.WHAT OTHER PROBLEMS WILL THE ECM CREATE IN THE FUTURE? MY AIR BAG LIGHT AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. A BALISE TOYOTA TECHNICIAN, WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA, DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY SPIRAL COIL ASSEMBY. BALISE'S ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER, KARL SUBKLEW, STATED THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CONTACTED/NOTIFIED TOYOTA; TOYOTA HAS RECALLED OTHER TOYOTA MAKES AND MODELS FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE, BUT REFUSED TO APPLY THE RECALL TO MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA MATRIX. THEY TOLD ME TO NOTIFY MY ATTORNEY GENERAL. THE COST WAS SIGNIFICANT TO ME TO HAVE THE SPIRAL COIL REPLACED ON 7/18/14. THIS TOYOTA DEFECT IN MATRIX AND PONTIAC VIBE MODELS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND INCLUDED IN THE TOYOTA RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I ALSO FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD FULLY REIMBURSE ME FOR MY COST TO HAVE THIS FAULTY SAFETY ITEM REPLACED.

I purchased my vehicle in May 2020. Since that time, there has been a noise that occurs when I apply the brakes. In March of 2021 I took my car to American tire shop where they charged me $1900 to supposedly fix an issue with the rear suspension 'arm,' but also stated it required more work and suggested it was a safety issue. The noise is still there and I fear potential safety issues but can not afford thousands of dollars in 'supposed' repairs.

I HAD TO REPLACE MY ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULD LOOSE POWER AND CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON STREET. THIS BECAME NOTICEABLE AFTER A RAIN STORM. I WAS TOLD BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS A MATRIX XRS, IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE OTHER MATRIX MODELS; THEREFORE I SPENT APPROX. $1000 IN HAVING THE ECM REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING ON 55 SOUTH FREEWAY EXIT FROM 91 WEST TO MY WORK, MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED RESPONDING. IT STARTED JERKING AND SUDDENLY STOPPED THE ENGINE. SO THEY DID COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND THAT FUEL WASN'T REACHING TO THE ENGINE DUE TO FUEL PUMP FAILURE. THEY RECOMMENDED TO CHANGED THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND CHARGED ME ABOUT $1100. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE HAS BEEN KNOWN ISSUES ON 05 TOYOTA COROLLA FOR FUEL PUMP FAILURE AND THEY KNEW IN 2005 AND ISSUED NOTICE TOO. I HAVE BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW IN '04 AUGUST FROM TOYOTA IN CLAREMONT, CA. WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND PUT THE CAR INTO 1ST GEAR AND PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE UP TO 15MPG. UPON SHIFTING THE CAR INTO 2ND GEAR IT DID NOT TAKE AND THE CAR THEN MADE A NOISE. ABOUT ONE AND 1/2 MILES LATER IT STARTED MAKING ANOTHER NOISE SIMILAR TO THE FIRST, BUT IT WAS CONTINUOUS AND SO I PARKED THE CAR AT HOME AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY THEN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MOTOR(BEING THE TYPE THAT IT WAS) AND WHAT HAD HAPPENED IS A ROD IN THE ENGINE HAD BEEN SPUN. THEY SAID IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE AND I COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL AND WRECKED THE CAR VERY EASILY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE 210 FWY GOING EAST. I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAST LANE AND THERE WAS A BIG RIG TO THE RIGHT OF MY VEHICLE TRAVELING IN THE SAME DIRECTION. ON 11/9/2010 AT 5:30 P.M., MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA CE STALLED ON I-87 (NY STATE THRUWAY--MAJOR DEEGAN) IN THE BRONX AS IT WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 55 MILES PER HOUR. THE CAR WAS OPERATING NORMALLY WHEN I LEFT WORK IN THE BRONX 20 MIN BEFORE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. THE OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS ALSO CAME ON. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND MANAGED TO GET FROM LEFT LANE TO SHOULDER. THE CAR STOPPED COMPLETELY BEFORE I COULD GET IT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THE BACK END OF CAR WAS SLIGHTLY ON THE ROAD. I CALLED AAA AND THEY CALLED THE OFFICIAL COMPANY WHO HAS TO TOW CARS OFF THE THRUWAY. NO TRUCK ARRIVED FOR A LONG TIME--TWO PASSERS BY STOPPED AND HELPED ME PUSH CAR ONTO SHOULDER. THE CAR LIGHTS DIMMED AND EVENTUALLY WENT OUT. THE CAR HAD PLENTY OF FUEL WHEN IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. AFTER THE CAR STOPPED, THE CAR SEEMED ELECTRICALLY DEAD AND WOULD NOT TURN OVER AT ALL. THERE WAS NO SOUND AT ALL OR ANY CRANKING OR SPUTTERING. IT SEEMED THAT THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD DUE TO ITS MOMENTUM FROM BEING IN MOTION. WHEN NO TRUCK ARRIVED AFTER 45 MINUTES, I CALLED 311 FOR ASSISTANCE (NYC HELP LINE) AND THEY CONTACTED POLICE WHO CAME AND CALLED ANOTHER TRUCK AND SAT WITH ME WITH THEIR LIGHTS ON UNTIL TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AROUND 6:50 PM. IT WAS TOWED TO OFFICIAL TOWING STATION IN BRONX. THE REPAIR PEOPLE TOLD ME THE NEXT DAY IT MIGHT BE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. MY CAR IS UNDER RECALL FOR THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM). THE TOYOTA DEALERS IN BRONX SAID CARS DON'T STALL BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED THERE TO HAVE IT CHECKED. Complaint Against Ben Nielsen Skyline Automotive – Faulty Repairs & Lack of Response I am filing a complaint regarding incomplete and faulty repairs performed on my household’s 2005 Toyota Corolla CE at Ben Nielsen Skyline Automotive on November 22, 2024 (Invoice #1 attached) and January 3, 2025 (Invoice #2 attached). During my first visit, the mechanic identified an oil leak, added dye to locate the source, and instructed me to return after 100 miles for further repairs. I followed these instructions and returned on January 3, 2025, when the shop also adjusted the tie rod and installed new rear brakes. At the time, I trusted that the work had been completed to a professional standard and that my vehicle was safe to drive. However, during a visit to Shirlington Shell on February 22, 2025, for an unrelated inspection (Invoice #3 attached), their mechanic raised serious concerns about the quality of repairs done by Ben Nielsen Skyline Automotive: - The tie rod adjustment was not completed properly, which the second mechanic stated made the car potentially unsafe to drive (video evidence available upon request). - The fluid leak was not fully resolved. - The rear brakes installed by Ben Nielsen Skyline Automotive are making noise, suggesting they were not installed correctly. These issues indicate that the repairs I paid for were either incomplete or improperly performed, leading to safety concerns and additional costs to diagnose and correct the problems. After discovering these faults, I made multiple attempts to contact Ben Nielsen Skyline Automotive via phone and email to request a resolution, including a full reimbursement for the tie rod adjustment, fluid leak repair, and rear brake installation. Unfortunately, my email messages and calls have gone unanswered, leaving me no choice but to escalate this matter.

These 3 things may be related to each other because they all are connected to the steering wheel. My car can be scheduled for an inspection regarding these safety problems. 1. The Airbag warning light is sometimes on when I drive the car. I'm worried it won't work if I'm in a wreck. 2. The horn doesn't work when I press on the part of the steering wheel that should make it work. It does make a loud sound when I press the panic button on my key fob, but only when the car is turned off. I had to stick my head out of the window and yell at a driver who was getting close to hitting my car in a parking lot. I was parked, and they were backing out of their parking stall. They stopped inches away from my car. 3. The cruise control does not work in the car. I think by using this feature, and maintaining a steady speed, it reduces the chances of accidents. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? See answers #1, 2 and 3 above. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? #1. No. A dealer told me it would cost me $100 to have them check the airbag light. #2. The horn was checked by an independent service center. #3. No. Has it been inspected? #1. This car has been serviced two different times for recalls for the airbag not working correctly. I wonder if the horn and cruise control wires were damaged, or not put back together correctly, when the recall work was being done, while owned by my sister-in-law. #2. No. #3. No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? #1. The warning lamp for the airbag started coming on around August 15, 2024. #2. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023 - when I bought the car. #3. No. It didn't work on February 11, 2023.

Unknown - The airbag light has been on for a while. Check engine light is also on, and after a few repairs/replacements of diagnosed issues the light remains. A Texas vehicle inspection report shows a P0420 fault code that will not go away, as well as a P0741 fault code about a torque converter clutch circuit underperforming or is stuck/off. I have a technical service bulletin from the inspection station that reads as follows: 10051865 Date: 04/16/2013 Toyota: In a collision, to help reduce injuries, with seat belt pre=tensioner and supplemental restraint systems (srs), it's possible that the devices may or may not perform as expected with unintended deployment.

ON THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT I WENT THERE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY REPLACED THE AIR BAG AND THAT I WAS ALL SET THEN I LEFT.TWO WEEKS AFTER WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, I IMMEDIATLY CALLED BOCH TOYOTA THEY ASKED THAT I BRING THE CAR, I WENT THERE DIRECTLY. WHEN I ARRIVED THEY TOOK MY CAR TO GO CHECK WHY THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON, I REMINDED THEM THAT I WAS THERE TWO WEEKS AGO MAYBE THEY HAD FORGTOTTEN TO DO SOMETHING. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME HE WOULD HAVE A MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK; AN HOUR AFTER ANOTHER SERVICE ADVISR LARRY CAME AND TOLD ME THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THAT I WOULD COST ME $800. I TOLD HIM I HAD MY CAR FOR 11 YEARS AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT NEVER HAD ANY ISSUE UNTIL I BROUGHT MY CAR THERE FOR THEM TO FIX THE AIR BAG AS REQUESTED BY THE TOYOTA COMPANY;LARRY TOLD ME THE ISSUE THE CAR HAS NOW IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL AND THAT MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO GET IT FIX, HE ALSO SAID THAT IF I WAS INVOLVE IN A CAR ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. I TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS BOCH TOYOTA'S RESPONSIBILTY TO FIX IT, HE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. NEXT THEY BROUGHT MY CAR FOR ME THEN I LEFT. MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS STILL ON IN THE CAR, I HAVE ASKED TWO MECHANICS FOR SUGGESTIONS AND THEY BOTH INFORMED ME THAT BOCH TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF IT. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE CONTACT ME ? I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO PROCEED WITH THIS SICE I'M DRIVING A CAR WITH AIR BAGS THAT WILL NOT DEPLOY IN CASE I HAVE AN ACCIDENT.

IN LATE 2004, I FINANCED A BRAND NEW 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA WHILE RESIDING IN SOUTH FLORIDA. IN SUMMER 2008, I RELOCATED TO MASSACHUSETTS. IT WAS IN WINTER 2008 THAT THE ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I WASN'T REALLY GIVEN A REAL EXPLANATION OF WHY THE WARNING LAMP WAS ILLUMINATED. I WAS QUICKLY TOLD IT COULD BE FIXED. SO I PAID APPROX. $800.00 TO SUPPOSEDLY HAVE IT FIXED. LITERALLY, TWO WEEKS LATER THE ENGINE WARNING LAMP CAME BACK ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG AND WOULD HAVE TO RUN MORE DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT WOULD COST ADDITIONAL MONEY. AT THE TIME, I DID NOT HAVE ADDITIONAL MONEY SINCE I HAD JUST DISHED OUT NEARLY $800.00. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOPS IN WHICH THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. IN THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS, YEARLY INSPECTIONS OF AN OPERATING VEHICLE IS REQUIRED. FOR THE PAST YEARS, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE LIGHT MANUALLY TURNED OFF HOPING THAT IT WOULD NOT COME ON IN TIME FOR THE CAR TO BE INSPECTED. THE CAR HAS FAILED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE THE ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION TO THE ENGINE WARNING LAMP BEING ILLUMINATED, I HAVE ALSO AND STILL EXPERIENCE HARSH SHIFTING. THE HARSH SHIFTING STARTED APPROX. IN LATE 2009/2010. I ALSO STARTED NOTICING DECREASED LIGHTING VISIBILITY IN 2011. AT NIGHT, I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS TO SEE PROPERLY. OUT OF FRUSTRATION, I GAVE UP ON TRYING TO FIND THE CAUSE FOR THESE ISSUES. I JUST DEALT WITH IT. I DON'T FREQUENTLY USE THE VEHICLE NOW BECAUSE I LIVE IN AN AREA THAT IS ACCESSIBLE TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION THAT ALLOWS ME TO GET TO WORK. DRIVER'S WINDOW. MY WIFE HAD JUST STARTED HER 2005 TOYOTA MATRIX AND PUT THE WINDOW DOWN. WHEN SHE PUT IT BACK UP, THE WINDOW SUDDENLY ROTATED AND STARTED TO SLIDE DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY PULL THE GLASS BACK INTO POSITION. WE TRIED PUTTING IT UP A SECOND TIME AND THE WINDOW TRIED TO ROTATE DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR AGAIN. AFTER REALIGNING IT AND GENTLY LEANING ON THE GLASS, WE WERE ABLE TO FULLY CLOSE THE WINDOW. THE CAR HAS 150,000 MILES. OCTOBER 2013, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA IN SOUTHERN CA, WHEN SMOKE STARTED TO FILL THE CAR. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE MASTER WINDOW SWITCH. THE SMOKE LASTED A FEW MINUTES, AND A BURNING SMELL OF PLASTIC ALSO FILLED THE CAR. THE CAR WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I TOOK A LOOK AT THE SWITCH, NONE OF THE SWITCHES AT THE MASTER CONTROL WERE WORKING AND ALL FELT COMPLETELY LOOSE. I PULLED THE SWITCH PANEL AWAY FROM THE DOOR AND COULD SEE HOW THE PLASTIC WAS COMPLETELY MELTED AND HAD BURNED HOLES THROUGH THE SWITCH. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND ALL THEY COULD SAY WAS THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THIS VIN# AND THEY WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WERE AWARE OF PROBLEMS ON OTHER VIN #'S IN THE SAME MODEL. IN SEPTEMBER 2013 I HAD MY CAR INSPECTED BY MY MECHANIC AND IT PASSED INSPECTION. THEN IN DECEMBER 2013 I NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. MY MECHANIC SUGGESTED I WINTERIZE IT, SO I DID. HE DID THE FOLLOWING: CHANGED OIL AND FILTER, LUBE CHASIS, FLUSH RADIATOR, ADDED NEW ANTIFREEZE, ROTATED TIRES, CHECKED BRAKES, DAX COOL; CABIN FILTER: REMOVED OLD CABIN FILTER, CLEANED OUT AIR BOX AND INSTALLED NEW FILTER; FUEL INJECTOR CLEAN: CLEANED AND FLUSHED INJECTOR SYSTEM; BELT - REMOVED AND REPLACED LISTED BELTS, ADJUSTED TENSION; BATTERY - CHECKED CHARGING AND STARING SYSTEM, INSTALLED NEW BATTERY AND CLEANED CABLE ENDS. I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS BECAUSE OF WHAT WAS DONE ABOVE BUT PERIODICALLY MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP IMMEDIATELY AT A RED LIGHT IT SKIDDED A LITTLE. THEN EVENTUALLY MY CAR WOULD SPEED UP ON ITS OWN SO I WOULD HAVE TO BRAKE AND THEN DRIVE AT A REALLY LOW SPEED. THEN ON APRIL 2, 2014 I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE CHECKED 4 WHEEL BRAKE AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, CLEANED AND ADJUSTED BRAKES, TOPED OFF FLUID. EVERY TIME I DID BRING MY CAR INTO THE MECHANIC THEY WOULD ROAD TEST IT AND TELL ME THE CAR IS NOW DRIVABLE. HOWEVER, WHEN I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR IT FELT AS IF I HAD TO NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR. SATURDAY, APRIL 5, 2014 I TOOK IT OVER TO TOYOTA AND THEY DID A GENERAL INSPECTION, THEY TOLD ME THE BATTERY IS FINE, THEY ALSO DID AN OIL CHANGE, AFIX STICKER AND RESET MAINTENANCE REMINDER. THEY TEST DROVE AS WELL AND TOLD ME EVERYTHING IS FINE. HOWEVER, AS I DROVE THIS PAST MONTH I FELT AS IF I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR. MY FOOT WAS NOT REALLY ON THE GAS PEDAL. IN JANUARY OF 2013 AND AGAIN IN DECEMBER OF 2013, MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN SAN LUIS OBISPO AND THEY SAID THAT THE O2 SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN TOO LEAN. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED (JANUARY, 2013) THE SERVICE WRITER GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE "PLENUM GASKET AND O2 SENSOR" BUT SAID THERE WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IF I ELECTED NOT TO HAVE THIS REPAIR DONE. WHEN THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN IN DECEMBER, 2013, I BECAME ALARMED AND TOOK MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA TO AN AUTHORIZED TOYOTA REPAIR SHOP (NOT THE SAN LUIS OBISPO DEALERSHIP) AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS HIGH PROBABILITY THAT THE VALVES WOULD BURN OUT IF I DID NOT REPLACE THE O2 SENSOR (BANK ONE, SENSOR ONE) AND PLENUM GASKET. I FELT THIS WAS URGENT AND TOOK IT TO THE SAN LUIS OBISPO TOYOTA DEALER FOR THE REPAIR, COSTING ME OVER $400. NOTE THAT I FOUND A TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ("M.I.L "ON" DTC PO171 OR P2195", MODELS '05-'06 COROLLA AND MATRIX) DATED NOVEMBER 16, 2005 (WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH OR APRIL, 2005) WHICH STATED "UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS, SOME 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEAR COROLLA AND MATRIX VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A MIL "ON" CONDITION WITH AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING DTC'S: PO171 (SYSTEM TOO LEAN, BANK 1"). FURTHER, IT STATED "THE AIR FUEL (A/F) SENSOR MANUFACTURING PROCESS HAS BEEN IMPROVED TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION". NOTE THAT I NEVER RECEIVED CORRESPONDENCE OR A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THIS CONDITION. MY HUSBAND BOUGHT MY 2005 COROLLA AS A WEDDING GIFT. IT WAS SLIGHTLY USED BUT BOUGHT FROM ONE OF THE BEST TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS IN OUR TOWN. IT HAD APPROX. 18000 MILES WHEN I GOT T IN FEB OF 2007. IT WAS VERY BASIC AND A STANDARD. THE SHIFTING/CLUTCH NEVER SEEMED RIGHT FROM THE START BUT I LEARNED HOW TO DEAL WITH IT. IN FEB OF 2010, I WAS LEAVING WORK AND WAS A FEW MILES FROM HOME. I HAD NEVER IN MY MANY YEARS OF DRIVING HAD A WRECK. THE TRUCK AHEAD OF ME CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AND AS I TRIED TO BRAKE,MY CAR SEEMED TO SPEED UP AND WENT RIGHT UP UNDER THE TRUCK. THE WHOLE FRONT END SMASHED RIGHT UP TO THE WINDSHIELD YET THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. TOYOTA ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE (#AC002-06) BULLETIN REGARDING THE CONDENSER NOT BEING PROPERLY PROTECTED FOR THE 05 AND 06 COROLLA MODELS. THEY SAID THAT YOU COULD TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD INSTALL NETTING AROUND THE CONDENSER- BUT IF IT IS ALREADY BROKEN- THEN YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK. MINE HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR TWO YEARS-NOW I AM NOW SPENDING OVER $500 TO REPLACE THE CONDENSER AND MY CO-WORKER DRIVES AN 06 MODEL AND HERS HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR A YEAR. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR PEOPLE DRIVING IN EXTREME HEAT. WE ARE TAKING A FAMILY TRIP TO NV THIS WEEKEND, SO I HAD TO BITE THE BULLET AND GET MINE FIXED, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA EQUIPPED WITH YOKOHAMA AVID-ASCEND TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO VIBRATE. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED NO FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. AC STOPPED WORKING IN PEAK SUMMER HEAT. AFTER RESEARCHING, REALIZED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN TOYOTAS MADE BEFORE 2006. TOYOTA HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AC002-06 WHICH IMPLIES THAT THE A/C CONDENSER IS NOT PROTECTED. THE COST TO REPLACE IS $600 AND WILL GO OUT AROUND 50K. I OWN A SUNSHINE KIDS RADIAN XTSL WHICH WAS INSTALLED RFING IN OUR 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA USING THE "SUPER LATCH" LATCH STRAP WHICH IS SUPPOSEDLY ABLE TO BE USED UNTIL MY CHILD REACHES 80 LBS (THE MAXIMUM WEIGHT LIMIT OF THE SEAT). DUE TO THE WAY THE BUCKLE ON THE STRAP IS, WHEN MY SON'S FOOT HIT THE BUCKLE PART OF THE LATCH STRAP, IT LOOSENED TO THE POINT I COULD MOVE THE SEAT SEVERAL INCHES AT THE BELT PATH. THE AMPLIFIER WAS REMOVED BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE IT CONTINUED TO INTERMITTENTLY STALL. THERE HAS NO BIG PROBLEMS DURING THE FIRST 3-YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD EXCEPT ON AROUND SUMMER OF 2007, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND TOYOTA DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER CONTROL SYSTEM WITHOUT CHARGE (WE'RE NOT SURE THE REPLACED COMPUTER NAME AND WE THINK THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE RECORD). I HAD THAT WELDED AT A MUFFLER SHOP AND IT HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR NOW. SECOND IS MY TRUNK LATCH, THIS IS THE PART THAT IS BOLTED TO THE BODY OF THE CAR THAT THE TRUNK LATCHES ONTO. THIS PIECE HAS COMPLETELY TORE OUT OF THE BODY, IT HAS BEEN REWELDED A FEW TIMES BUT IT CAN'T BE WELDED ANYMORE. I KEEP IT TIED CLOSED AND CAN'T USE MY TRUNK. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND THE DEALER TELLS ME IT I OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY DON'T WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, I KEEP GETTING TOLD TO SEE A BODY SHOP. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 23, 2007 THE CONTACT WAS INSTRUCTED TO COLLECT THE KEYS THE FOLLOWING WEEK. THE NEXT WEEK,THE CONTACT WAS TOLD TO PURCHASE THE KEYS FOR $200.00. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 35,000.*AK THE CONSUMER STATES WHEN PURCHASING VEHICLE THE DEALER NEVER PROVIDED HER WITH THE MASTER KEY TO THE VEHICLE, SHE WAS INSTRUCTED BY ALFREDO AT THE DEALERSHIP TO PICK THE KEY UP A WEEK LATER. AFTER 10 DAYS, THE CONSUMER DID NOT FEEL SAFE AND DID NOT TRUST THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER HAD THE KEY REPROGRAMMED FOR SAFETY REASONS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED THE SAME SPEED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AT ANY SPEED THERE AFTER. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED PRIOR THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO OBSERVED NO ABNORMALITIES AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC CHECKUP AND ROAD TEST. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THERE WAS NOT A MECHANISM TO SLOW DOWNS THE SPEED AS THERE USED TO BE IN OLDER MODELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS A VALVE STUCK OPEN IN THE FUEL SYSTEM AND REPAIR IT. BUT THE PROBLEM WAS PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN BECAUSE THE ONLY WAY TO REDUCE THE SPEED WAS BY DEPRESSING HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT A COLLISION. UPDATED 12/5/2006 - *NM

2005 TOYOTA COROLLA PASSENGER SENSOR IS OVERLY SENSITIVE. WHEN SEAT IS TOUCHED RINGERS GO OFF. *TS WHEN ANY OBJECT IS PLACED IN THE SEAT THE RINGER SOUNDS. WHENEVER A BACK SEAT PASSENGER TOUCHED THE PASSENGER SEAT THE RINGER WOULD SOUND. THE RINGER ALSO SOUNDED OCCASIONALLY FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
