The contact's mother owned a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while his mother was driving at approximately 35 - 45 MPH, she rear-ended another vehicle. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. The contact's mother was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a broken vertebra and fractured sternum. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated they veered to the side of the road. A police report was filed. The contact sought medical assistance the next day and was advised she sustained seat belt burns on the chest and knee injuries. The contact's roommate sustained neck injuries and sought medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. I have been waiting over 2 years for this passenger side airbag recall to be remedied. I was told a remedy was available about a year and a half ago, but despite many calls and service appointments where I left the car with Toyota (they even kept my car for nearly 9 hours once), they always tell me they don't have the part available and that they will call me when it becomes available (they still haven't). I tried multiple Toyota service centers in my area with the same results. The airbag was already recalled previously and the remedy was to replace it with an airbag part that was also recalled, so in actuality it has probably been over 5 years since the original recall and after all this time my car still has an airbag inflator that may cause fire, injury or death. I paid for a car so I could use all of the available seating, and for most of my time owning it and for the foreseeable future I'm being told by Toyota not to use the front passenger seat. Totally unacceptable, regardless of parts shortage this shouldn't be a problem to bear solely by the vehicle owner, I have never been offered a loaner or anything to make up for the money I wasted on a car I can't use as advertised.

The contact owned a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while sitting in their vehicle parked, the passenger air bag exploded independently. The contact confimed that there was no impact for the air bag to explode and there were no warning lights at the time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired the passenger air bag. However, a month later the contact was at a stoplight when the vehicle behind rear-ended the vehicle and caused the contact to rear the vehicle in front of them. The air bags did not deploy. The contact's head hit the steering wheel, which caused injuries to their head, neck, and back. Medical treatment was at the scene and took the contact to the hospital by ambulance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by an independent mechanic and then towed to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact's concern was that after doing some research they found out their vehicle had an open recall for the frontal air bags NHTSA Campaign Number: 19v741000 (Air Bags) that they believe their local dealer was aware of the recall but never informed which caused the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 150,000.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Uncontrolled maximum acceleration after shifting into gear. Occurred after shifting gears such as parking. It represents a definite safety issue. There is no warning of occurrence. It has happened about 6 times in the past 4 years. I do not drive often. I contacted Toyota who referred me to the dealer. I had it checked by the Toyota dealer, who denied there is a problem. I would welcome a independent inspection. I have notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in April but have heard nothing from them since.

STARTED CAR IN DECEMBER 2015, TWO WEEKS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. DASH LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON AUTOMATICALLY AS THEY ALWAYS DID AT NIGHT, NOR DID THEY COME ON AFTER MANUALLY TURNING THEM ON, BUT AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING THEY CAME ON. NEXT NIGHT AGAIN NO LIGHTS, THIS TIME I HIT A BUMP, DASH LIGHTS FLASHED ON THEN OFF AGAIN UNTIL NEXT BUMP IN ROAD AND CAME ON AND STAYED ON. NEXT NIGHT, NO LIGHTS. HIT BUMPS IN ROAD BUT STILL NO LIGHTS. MY DASH LIGHTS NEVER CAME ON AGAIN. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT POST AFTER POST AFTER POST OF 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM. THAT'S WHEN I FOUND OUT I ALSO HAD NO TAIL LIGHTS! MECHANIC CHECKED FUSES AND TAIL LIGHT RELAY, ALL FINE. CHECKED FOR LOOSE WIRES, NO LOOSE WIRES. MECHANIC PUZZLED. WALNUT CREEK TOYOTA DEALER WANTS $350.00 JUST TO LOOK AT IT. AFTER SEEING ALL THESE POSTS WITH SAME PROBLEM, TOYOTA DEALER SHOULD KNOW WHAT IT IS! I HOPE THIS WILL BECOME A RECALL.

I HAD MY VEHICLE IN IDLE AND RETRACTED MY DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOWS DOWN TO PULL MY NEPHEW INTO MY LAP TO SAY GOODBYE TO HIM. AT THIS TIME ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER STARTING MY CAR THE WINDOW PANEL, AS WELL AS BELOW THE DOOR PANEL TOWARDS THE SPEAKER A HEAVY SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC SPREAD AROUND THE CAR AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED BILLOWING OUT THROUGH THE SLIT THE WINDOW GLASS RETRACTS BACK INTO. AT THIS TIME I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED UNTIL THE TOXIC SMOKE HAD ESCAPED. THIS ISSUE WITH THE MASTER SWITCH HAS BEEN REPORTED BY TOYOTA FOR 2009 COROLLAS ONLY. THIS COULD HAVE POSED A SERIOUS HEALTH RISK HAD IT GONE UNNOTICED. AFTER DOING THE DIAGNOSTIC, IT WAS FOUND THAT IT WAS IN FACT A FAULTY SWITCH THAT PROBABLY "GOT WET". IF A CAR IS CATCHING ON FIRE AFTER A SIMPLE FLORIDA RAIN SHOWER, THAT IS NOT THE CONSUMER'S FAULT. FAULTY MANUFACTURING IS THE CASE HERE. WAITING ON TOYOTA CORPORATE RESPONSE OR WILL SEEK PROMPT LEGAL ACTION.

The contact stated that several unknown warning lights started flashing and the RPM gauge fluctuated from a low RPM to high RPM. The contact stated that he pulled over and attempted to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The contact had a voltmeter and checked the battery and noticed that the battery was low on charge. The contact had recently installed a new battery. The contact jump started the vehicle and was able to shift into drive (D) however, the vehicle was hesitating and not responsive while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact had requested vehicle history from the manufacturer and determined that the Electronic Control Unit had been replaced in 2011 under NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V384000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ALONG THE BEELINE HIGHWAY OUTSIDE OF PHOENIX AZ AND NEGOTIATING A GENTLE CURVE IN THE ROAD. IT WAS ABOUT 1:30PM ON A CLEAR DAY. I FELT A STRONG LURCH (THOUGHT I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND ALTHOUGH I KNEW THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND ME) ALMOST IMMEDIATELY I ATTEMPTED TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEEL AND FOUND MYSELF UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR MOUNTED THE MEDIAN ROAD DIVIDER, CAME DOWN, SPUN 360 DEGREES AND GENTLY DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS NOT INJURED BUT THE CAR WAS TOTALED. I LOOKED ON LINE AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND DID FIND SOME ACCOUNTS OF THIS KIND OF FROZEN WHEEL SCENARIO WITH THE LURCH THAT I FELT BUT ALSO AT MUCH LOWER SPEEDS. CAR PULLED SUDDENLY IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN MAKING TURNS AT REASONABLE SPEEDS. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, CAR PULLED FORCEFULLY TO THE RIGHT WHEN BREAKING. AS THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO PICK IT UP ON TEST DRIVES. REPLACED FRONT TIRES, HAD BRAKES CHECKED, BUT HAPPENED AGAIN. JUST HAD THE REAR TIRES REPLACED AND ALIGNMENT DONE, BUT REALLY FEEL THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE STEERING. HOW CAN I BE SURE THE CAR IS SAFE?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ASKED WHAT IT WAS, WAS TOLD IT'S CONVERTER, BUT NOT TO WORRY IF NO PROBLEMS. I'VE TRIED CALLING TOYOTA FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, TO NO AVAIL. I STILL OWN MY COROLLA AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. .... GLAD I FOUND THIS WEBSITE.

I HAVE NOTICED TONS OF COMPLAINT ONLINE ABOUT TOYOTA COROLLA 2007 GIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH THE CODE P0741, YOU CAN ALREADY FIND IT ONLINE AND MANY OF THE OWNER SEEMS TO BE FRUSTRATED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IN MANY CASES CAR DOES NOT HAVE ANY ISSUE BUT THE LIGHT COMES AND GO, SPECIALLY WITH THE S MODEL. IT INCLUDES CARS WITH 50,000 MILES AND ABOVE. THE NUMBER OF CASES SEEMS TO BE SIGNIFICANT AND TOYOTA DEALERS SEEM TO OFFER TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY THE PRICE OF THE CAR. THE CODE IS MOST OFTEN READ AS SOLENOID ISSUE WHILE TOYOTA DEALERS SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION IN ALL CASES(BASED ON REVIEWS). I BELIEVE YOU MAY NEED TO LOOK INTO IT AS IT IS QUIET FREQUENT AND MAY CAUSE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMPUTER OR ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. TOYOTA DEALER ADVISED TO REPLACE WHOLE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD WITH 75,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER NEED TO CHARGE $4,000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. *JS

I was driving down the street and all of a sudden I couldn't accelerate. I pulled over and I turned off the car and then tried restarting it but it wouldn't. It said on the gear shift it was in park, but come to find out, my gear shift bushing broke while I was driving. I KNOW I'm not the only driver this has happened to either in the year, make and model.

THE PROBLEM IS NOT SPECIFIC TO THIS CAR. THE TIRE SPEED RATING SYSTEM IN USE TODAY IS LONG OVERDUE FOR UPGRADING. PROBLEM 1 IS THE CONFUSION THAT EXISTS BETWEEN Y AND (Y). ONLINE TIRE DEALERS OFTEN BLUR THE TWO CATEGORIES. PROBLEM 2 IS THE ACTUAL SPEED RATING OF (Y) -- IT IS UNKNOWN BUT HIGHER THAN 186. PROBLEM 3 IS THAT TIRES IN THE UPPER RANGES ARE NOT SEPARATED. IF YOU BUY TIRES FOR A 2004 FORD GT, THEY MUST BE GOOD FOR UP TO 215 MPH, BUT 270 MPH IS NOT NECESSARY. THERE ARE MANY TIRES THAT ARE GOOD FOR 215 BUT NOT 270 MPH. THE CURRENT SYSTEM DOES NOT TELL CONSUMERS WHICH TIRE IS SAFE! I PROPOSE A NEW METRIC-BASED SYSTEM. LETTER FROM SENATOR ISAKSON ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. *SMD THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A SEVERE AND SUDDEN LOCK UP OF THE BRAKES. THE CONSUMER STATED JUST A SMALL TOUCH OF THE BRAKE PEDAL CAUSED THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP. MY FOUR EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE MADE UP OF CHEAP PLASTIC AND THEY HAVE DISINTEGRATED. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE SINCE GETTING IN AND OUT OF THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EASY. I CAN ONLY ACCESS THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DRIVER'S DOOR. ALL THE OTHER HANDLES HAVE BROKEN OFF COMPLETELY. WHEN YOU USE THIS VEHICLE IN AN URBAN, TRAFFIC CONGESTED SITUATION, ENTERING THIS CAR BECOMES VERY DANGEROUS. THE NAME OF THE DRIVER THAT STRUCK MY VEHICLE IS [XXX]. THE TRUCK THAT STRUCK MY VEHICLE IS A 2012 NEWWAY RECYCLE TRUCK (BLUE). ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, [XXX] WAS DISTRACTED BY A MAN WHO WALKED UP TO HIM AND "STARTED TALKING TO HIM ABOUT A TV". I CONTACTED [XXX] (INTEGRATED WASTE SUPERVISOR) AND I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COVER ALL EXPENSES OUT OF POCKET INCLUDING DEDUCTIBLE, AND RENTAL CAR FOR THE ENTIRE TIME IT TAKES TO FIX MY CAR. FILLED GAS TANK AS USUAL. ON LEAVING GAS STATION HEARD CLANKING NOISE. WENT HOME AND THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS LOOSE IN MY TRUNK. CHECKED- NOTHING WAS. THE VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE CODES IDENTIFY IT AS P0456. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY TRIED TO TELL US THAT AN ANIMAL HAD MADE A SMALL PINHOLE IN THE GAS RETURN LINE. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE 600.00 TO REPLACE THE TANK OR THEY COULD TEMPORARILY FIX IT UNTIL WE COULD GET THAT DONE. THE TEMPORARY FIX AFTER A FEW MONTHS OPENED AND WE GOT THE ALERT AGAIN. TAKING IT BACK THEY SAID THE TEMP FIX WAS OKAY AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. UPON RETURN HOME, I LOOKED AND FOUND THE TEMP FIX WAS ELECTRICAL TAPE RAPPED AROUND THE LINE. THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE AND YOU COULD SMELL THE GAS. I REMOVED THE TAPE AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A VERY THIN HOSE. IT IS IN A POSITION OVER THE TANK WHERE WIND COULD BLOW IT UP AND HIT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. THAT IS NOT SMOOTH AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PUNCTURE. TAKING TO ANOTHER DEALER, THEY WANTED TO SAY THE SAME THING. ANIMAL DAMAGE AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN REALLY INVESTIGATE. I HAVE THE VEHICLE AND HOSE. I ALSO READ A NUMBER OF SIMILAR CASES ONLINE. WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE HOSE, IT DOES HAVE AN ANTICHAPHING FOAM NEAR THE LOWER HALF OF THE HOSE CLOSE TO THE WHEEL AREA. NOTHING ON TOP OF THE TANK. APPEARS TO ME THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A CHAPHING PROBLEM AND CHOOSE TO BLAME IT ON ANIMALS AS THAT IS HARD TO PROVE. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE HAD EXPLOSIONS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. ON JULY 29, 2008 I WENT TO GET INTO MY 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA AND SMELLED GAS. I CROUCHED DOWN TO LOOK UNDER THE CAR AND NOTICED A GAS LEAK COMING FROM THE GAS LINE UNDER THE GAS TANK. I GOT UP TO WALK INTO THE GARAGE AND WHEN I CLOSED THE CAR DOOR, THE CAR EXPLODED INTO FLAMES. THE EXPLOSION PUSHED ME INTO THE GARAGE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE GARAGE DOOR CLOSED. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. AFTER LOOKING AT OTHER 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA'S IT SEEMS THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE FUEL LINE UNDER THE CAR. THE FUEL LINE IS THE SAME CONSISTENCY AS A RADIATOR HOSE AND IS THE LOWEST HANGING STRUCTURE UNDER THE CAR, WITH AN AREA THAT IS NOT PROTECTED AND COULD VERY WELL GET PUNCTURED BY NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS CAUSING A GAS LEAK IN THE FUEL LINE WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS, OBVIOUSLY, SINCE OURS EXPLODED INTO FLAMES AND BURNED SO HOT THAT IT MELTED THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. STRANGELY, THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT DOT NUMBERS FOR THESE FOUR TIRES (TWO OF THE FOUR HAVE THE SAME NUMBER). THE NUMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS: CC9N 81P4509, 81P3109, AND 81P2809. THESE YOKOHAMA AVID TOURING TIRES ARE DEVELOPING DISCOLORATION AND CONCENTRIC CRACKING AROUND THE OUTER AND INNER SIDE WALLS. THE CRACKING APPEARS TO BE SIMILAR TO DRY ROT. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE OCCURRED AT 45,000 MILES OF WEAR. THESE TIRES ARE RATED TO LAST 65,000 MILES. THIS PREMATURE FAILURE IS BOTH DISAPPOINTING AND DANGEROUS. THE CRACKS ARE DEEP AND I FEAR TREAD SEPARATION OR BLOWOUT. I WILL BE GETTING THESE TIRES REPLACED TO AVOID ANY POSSIBLE INJURIES OR ACCIDENTS. ON WED OCT 23 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE. THE WEATHER WAS PERFECT, NO RAIN, CLEAR BLUE SKIES AND ABOUT 70 DEGREES. IT WAS APPRX 12:00 PM (MID-DAY). OUT OF NOWHERE I HEARD A LOUD BAND ON TOP OF MY ROOF AND GLASS STARTED FLYING OFF THE BACK OF MY CAR. I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SUNROOF AND THE REST OF THE GLASS AROUND IT IS SHATTERED. IT WAS SUCH A BIZARRE EXPERIENCE I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSE THIS. IT WAS LIKE THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. THEN ON OCTOBER 25 I SAW AN ARTICLE THAT A LOT OF KIA'S SUNROOFS HAD BEEN EXPLODING! THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE. WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT ONTO A MAIN ROAD, THE CAR STALLED DURING ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR, HOWEVER, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE STARTER CONTINUED TO TURN, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURNOVER. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED, BUT THEN STALLED AGAIN AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS OF RUNNING. THE DRIVER NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS ILLUMINATED. THINKING IT MAY BE A FUEL LEVEL PROBLEM, THE DRIVER WENT TO THE GAS STATION AND BOUGHT THREE GALLONS OF GAS AND PUT IT IN THE CAR. BUT THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN AFTER RUNNING FOR A FEW SECONDS. MY DAUGHTER'S 2007 COROLLA "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING BACK TO COLLEGE ON 8/29/10. SHE STATED THAT THE CAR STARTED TO JERK PERIODICALLY ALSO. SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFELY THE FOLLOWING DAY AND I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC ON 8/30/10. HE SAID THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN RELEASED REGARDING A RECALL ON THE ECM AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA MALL OF GEORGIA AND HANDED THE SERVICE REP THE PRINTOUT OF THE BULLETIN AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I ASKED HIM IF THIS HAD TO DO WITH THE RECENT RECALL - HE SAID THAT THIS WASN'T RECENT SINCE THE DATE ON THE BULLETIN WAS 2007. HE SAID PROBABLY THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND WOULD CALL WHEN HE KNEW FOR SURE. A FEW HOURS LATER HE SAID THAT THE ECM WAS REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. IN THE INTERIM, I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL BULLETIN ISSUED ON 8/26/10 SO WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR LATER THAT EVENING, I QUESTIONED A DIFFERENT SERVICE REP AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ANY RECALL! HUH? DIDN'T THE OTHER REP TELL ME THAT THIS WAS FROM 2007? I SAID WHY DID YOU REPLACE THE ECM THEN, HE SAID BECAUSE THERE IS A START UP ISSUE WITH THE ECM. I TOLD HIM WE WEREN'T HAVING START UP TROUBLE, BUT THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED TO JERK. I TOLD HIM WHAT I HAD LEARNED ABOUT THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND ASKED HIM IF THESE ISSUES WERE FIXED WITH THIS REPLACEMENT AND HE SAID NO, JUST THE START UP ISSUE!! HE SAID SINCE THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THE STALLING ISSUE, THEY COULDN'T FIX THIS. I WAS TOTALLY CONFUSED AND DID NOT FEEL SAFE PUTTING MY DAUGHTER BACK IN THAT CAR. WE WHERE DRIVING BACK FROM A FAMILY FUNCTION AND WHEN WE GOT HOME, THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT RETRACT BACK IN. WE HAD BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SEATBELTS LOCKING FOR AWHILE BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THE BELT DID NOT RETRACT. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $800.00 SO I DID NOT GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD IT. THE SECOND SEATBELT WENT OUT WHILE WE WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 65MPH AND WERE AT ABOUT 100,000 MILES. THE SEATBELT LOCKED SO WE REMOVED IT TO RESET IT AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THEN IT STOPPED WORKING. THE THIRD REAR BELT WAS A HARD TIME RETRACTING AS WELL. THE DEALER TESTED IT AND IT ALSO FAILED THEIR TESTS. THE DEALER NOW SAYS THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS NOT MECHANICAL FAILURE AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MILEAGE. THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PUT A DIME INTO THIS REPAIR.

WHEN EVER I TURN OFF THE CAR THEN START IT AGAIN AND MOVE EITHER FORWARD OR BACKWARD THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND IN MY FORWARD BREAK AREA. 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA STEEL RIM ISSUES. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS TWICE WITH THE STEEL RIMS ON MY CAR AND AM AFRAID THERE WILL BE MORE AS MY CAR AGES. THE RIMS RUST. I TURNED A CORNER TOO SHARP AND BARELY GRAZED THE CONCRETE, WHICH BENT THE WHEEL RIM AND CAUSED MY TIRE TO BLOW OUT, AND I HAD TO REPLACE THAT TIRE. NOW, I HIT A POTHOLE, AND ENTIRE WHEEL RIM BUCKLED, TORE MY TIRE TO BITS, AND IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT RIM FOR MY CAR. I COULD NOT LOCATE ONE ONLINE, COULD NOT GET A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM SAM SWOPE'S TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO TRY TO SEE IF THE PART COULD BE ORDERED, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET ANOTHER DEALER TO SELL ME ONE AT A WHOPPING $141 INCLUDING TAX. I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS WHEN I HIT THAT POTHOLE AND WAS GOING AT A SLOW SPEED. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I'D BE DEAD. NOW THAT I LOOK AT ALL OF THE RIMS ON MY CAR, EVERY RIM IS BENT SOMEWHERE ALONG THE EDGES. THE METAL ON THESE RIMS IS OF THE POOREST QUALITY I HAVE EVER SEEN. I'D EXPECT STEEL TO HOLD UP BETTER THAN THIS, AND THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN STEEL RIMS BUCKLE, DESTROY YOUR TIRE AND YOU CAN LOOSE CONTROL OF YOUR CAR. I AM ALSO AFRAID THAT THIS ISN'T' THE LAST OF MY PROBLEMS WITH THESE RIMS. I BELIEVE THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN, AND IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANOTHER RIM FOR MY PARTICULAR CAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC & HE SAID THE GAS CAP WASN'T ON TIGHT ENOUGH. THAT WORKED FOR A COUPLE MONTHS BEFORE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SO THE NEXT STEP WE REPLACED THE GAS CAP & A WEEK LATER IT CAME BACK ON. THE MECHANIC NOW SAYS IT'S THE FUEL TANK NEEDS REPLACED.

THE NEW TIRES AND RIMS HELPED, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL SWAYED, BUT NOT AS BAD AS BEFORE. WHEN HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE STRUTS TO LEAK AND THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH REPAIR EXPENSES. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 45,670.

I received a notification that our car had been recalled, so I made an appointment with Deluca Toyota in Ocala to have the recalled items only fixed. After they had the call for an hour and a half they tried to force me to have the Serpentine belt replaced. We just had the serpentine belt replaced a few thousand miles ago and it was fine when we brought our car in for an airbag recall. They didn't fix the airbag, because we wouldn't pay for them to replace our serpentine belt....that does not need to be replaced again this soon. Serpentine belts last about 100,000 miles so at 2-3 thousand miles it is fine. Toyota is a bunch of lying thieves.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE RPMS DROPPED AND THERE WAS A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR HAD APPROX. 19,500 MILES ON IT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER MODULE AND THE FUEL PUMP. FOUR DAYS LATER THE CAR DIED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED A SECOND TIME AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND GASKET. IT STARTS WITH THE CAR NOT FEELING LIKE IT IS RECEIVING FUEL TO THE ENGINE, THEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, IT JUST DIES AND WON'T START BACK UP. FIRST TIME I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, IT JUST DIED AND I HAD IT PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I LEFT THE VEHICLE AND RETURNED HALF AN HOUR LATER IN WHICH IT DID RESTART. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN WHICH IT TURNS OUT FOUND THAT IT WAS A CENSOR THAT WAS BAD AND REPLACED. THE SECOND TIME IT STALLED ON ME, AGAIN, I COULD TELL THAT FUEL WASN'T GETTING TO THE ENGINE IN SHORT INTERVALS. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY 2007 VEHICLE IN 2008 I DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR HITTING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PUT IT ALL THE WAY DOWN. I WAS DRIVING AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL DOWN THE SUN VISOR AND THEN WHEN I LOOKED AT THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IT HAD MOVED AND BECOME MIS-ALIGNED DUE TO THE VISOR HITTING THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. THIS RESULTED IN HAVING TO RE-ADJUST THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS OEM. YOU CANNOT FULLY DEPLOY THE SUN VISOR IN A PERPENDICULAR POSITION WITHOUT HITTING THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. 2-17-10 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA STALLED ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO RENT A CAR. WENT BACK TO THE CAR AND IT STARTED AND RAN FINE FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN STARTED STALLING AGAIN. I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO FILL MY GAS TANK AND WHILE THIS WAS BEING DONE I HEARD A LOUD BANG SIMILAR TO A GUNSHOT. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND. I STOPPED THE CAR AND GOT OUT TO LOOK UNDERNEATH BUT COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING HANGING. SINCE I WAS NEAR HOME I STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE SLOWLY HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY REPAIRED THE GAS TANK STRAP PASSENGER SIDE. I TOLD THEM I CONSIDERED THIS TO BE A DESIGN DEFECTION AND A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY STATED THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY HAD SEEN QUITE A FEW OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. TOYOTA CORP HAS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS HARDLY BEEN DRIVEN GIVEN THE FACT THAT IT IS 4 YEARS OLD. I HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC. I DRIVE A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA S AUTOMATIC. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW & HAD ABOUT 72,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I HAD NOTICED FOR A FEW WEEKS THAT MY CAR WAS SHIFTING INTO REVERSE QUITE ROUGHLY, DELAYED & JERKING. I FIGURED I WOULD GET IT CHECKED AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE. IN THIS REPORT IT STATES: IT IS FREQUENTLY POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM IS USED IN AN ENGINE IN A SPECIFIC VEHICLE ONCE THE MAKE, THE MODEL, THE MODEL YEAR, AND THE CORRESPONDING TOYOTA ENGINE FAMILY ARE IDENTIFIED. THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES OCCURRED ON APRIL 28TH, 2007. I WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT THAT HAD A DOWNWARD SLOPE AND AS I MERGED ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I WAS FORCED TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES, BUT EVEN THEN, THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR ANOTHER 10 YARDS. ON MAY 2ND, 2007, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE CHECKED AT HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA IN LOS ANGELES, CA. THE INVOICE NOTES STATE THAT THE CAUSES FOR THE BRAKE PROBLEMS ON THIS PARTICULAR OCCASION WERE THAT THE 'BRAKE PEDAL WAS SPONGY' AND THE 'BRAKES WERE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT'. FOR THE VEHICLE BEING BRAND NEW AND ME BEING THE FIRST OWNER, I FIND IT RATHER DISTURBING THAT THESE BRAKE PROBLEMS HAD ALREADY BECOME AN ISSUE AFTER ONLY ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP. ON MARCH 24TH, 2009, ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT BRAKING INCIDENT HAPPENED. AS I ENTERED THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME, I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GO UP THE DRIVEWAY'S INCLINE AND THEN TAPPED ON MY BRAKES. WHEN I TAPPED ON THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. I PULLED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKES BUT IT STILL DID NOT STOP. THE DEALER ORDERED A NEW JACK AND COMPARED IT SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE DEFECTIVE JACK IN THE NORMALLY RAISED POSITION AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS UNSTABLE. THE JACK WAS REPLACED AND THE FENDER DAMAGE RESULTED FROM THE COLLAPSED JACK WAS ALSO REPLACED BY THE DEALER UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. MORE RESEARCH SHOWS THESE ISSUES CAUSING PEOPLE GETTING STRANDED AND OTHERS WITH NO PROBLEM OTHER THEN LIGHT, AND OTHERS WITH A STRONG GAS SMELL. IN THE COURSE OF ONE MILE, TODAY SPECIFICALLY, THE VEHICLE CONVULSED AND SEIZED FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHERE I COULD ONLY TURN MY BLINKER ON AND HOPE PEOPLE COULD GO AROUND ME. I LONG CONSIDERED THIS ISSUE RELATED TO SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT FEELS LIKE, THOUGH EXPERIENCING THE TERROR OF LOSING COMPLETE CONTROL ON A HOT SUNNY, DRY DAY LAST SUMMER PUT THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE INTO PERSPECTIVE- THE DRIVER NEEDS TO BE IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE FULL OPERATOR OF EVERY FUNCTION TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM BECOMING A DEADLY WEAPON. THIS VEHICLE INHIBITS MY ABILITY TO PREVENT HARM. IN TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THIS ISSUE, I HAVE SPENT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, AND THE VEHICLE STILL REMAINS UNSAFE. ON 4/9/18, I SPENT $2,065.29 TO REPLACE WHEEL BEARINGS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN UNDER A YEAR AND A HALF, AS WELL AS SERVICED THE EMERGENCY BREAK, PURCHASED NEW TIRES YET AGAIN, AND REBUILT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. BACK ON 11/20/17, THE VEHICLE RECEIVED BRAND NEW LF WHEEL BEARING AND BRAND NEW SPARK PLUGS FOR $535.29 TO CURE THE POWER ISSUE, TO NO AVAIL. ONLY 8 MONTHS EARLIER ON 3/30/17, I SPENT IN EXCESS OF $1200 TO SERVICE THE STRUTS, SHOCKS, REAR BRAKES, BREAK PADS, RODARS, BRAKE CALLIPERS, AND REAR EMERGENCY BREAK, AND STILL THE ISSUE PERSISTED. THE ENGINE, WHEELS, AND BRAKES OF THIS 2007 TOYOTA MATRIX CONTINUE TO IMPEDE MY ABILITY TO KEEP THE PEOPLE ON THE ROAD SAFE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2007. TWO MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM ENGAGED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE ALARM FAILURE. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ON FEBRUARY 21, 2012, A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE PARKED. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE DEALER PRODUCED A FAILURE CODE DETECTED FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH LOCK UP AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2012, AN ECM RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. ALSO IN 2012, THE CONTACT NOTICED RUST ON THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE AND SMALL WHITE CIRCLES (THE SIZE OF BASKETBALLS) ON THE REAR BUMPER AND TRUNK. TWO YEARS LATER, LEOPARD LIKE SPOTS WERE PRESENT ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECTS. THE MANUFACTURER SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER IN DECEMBER OF 2016 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE ONLY PAINT CHIPS ON THE VEHICLE AND FAILED TO INCLUDE THE EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE ROOF. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD USE OXIDATION ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE RUST. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE PAINT USED ON THE VEHICLE WAS ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIR BAGS. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE NOTICE PERTAINED TO THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT FOUR WEEKS APART WITH TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS. WE WERE SLOWING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN TRAVELING 5-10 MPH AND WHEN WE APPLIED THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE REVED UP. WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME THE THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE SO I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THUS AVOIDED HITTING CAR AHEAD OF ME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THEY HAD IT FOR A DAY AND HALF AND SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THEY SAID I SHOULD REMOVE MY AFTER MARKET CAR MAT ( WHICH I HAVE) AND SUGGESTED THAT BOTH DRIVERS HAD APPLIED THE BRAKE AND ACCELORATOR AT THE SAME TIME. I THINK THIS IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY AS MY FOOT ISN'T WIDE ENOUGH TO DO BOTH UNLESS MY FOOT IS NEARLY OFF THE BRAKE. THE CAR MAT IN QUESTION HAS BEEN THE CAR FOR 6 PLUS YEARS AND IS A CUSTOM MADE ONE WHICH DOES NOT SLIP.

LOOKED UP A RECALL ON THE EMC OF 2007 TOYOTA COROLLAS. MY CAR WAS REAR ENDED ON 12/31/2014. EVER SINCE, MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. MY RADIATOR FAN IS NOT WORKING AND HAD TO BE HOT WIRED BY A MECHANIC FOR IT TO STAY ON WHILE RUNNING. MY AC IS NOT WORKING, MY SHIFTER IS STUCK IN PARK WHICH IS CAUSED BY A BAD SOLENOID. I HAVE HAD IT INSPECTED FOR OVER 8 HOURS BY CERTIFIED MECHANICS AT MIDAS, AND THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. THEY SAID THAT EVERY TEST THEY DID WAS READING THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT MY AC AND RADIATOR FAN AND SOLENOID ARE NOT WORKING. AS I APPROACHED TRAFFIC LIGHTS, I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES AS YELLOW LIGHT WAS ON BUT THE CAR WAS STILL ACCELERATING. EVEN AFTER THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY APPLIED, IT WENT FORWARD. HAD THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED ON CAR MARCH 1, 2013. A MONTH AND A HALF LATER I HEARD GRINDING NOISE FROM LEFT WHEEL. TOOK CAR IN ON 4/11/13 AND WAS TOLD BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE FINE, BUT THAT THE HUB AND BEARING WERE FAILING ON THE LEFT. WAS ALSO TOLD THIS WAS RARE THAT THEY DON'T USUALLY SEE A HUB AND BEARING FAILING AT THIS MILEAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND IF YOU DO NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT YOUR WHEEL COULD FALL OFF. I WAS ADVISED BY SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM TO GO AHEAD AND FIX IT WHICH I DID ON 4/16/13. ON A RAINY OCTOBER 28, 2012 SUNDAY, I WAS TRAVELING ON RTE. 73, IN MOORSETOWN, NJ AND I ATTEMPTED TO GET OFF 73 AND GO DOWN THE RTE. 295 N RAMP. AS I WENT DOWN THE RAMP, I PUT ON MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS FLYING. THE BRAKES LOCKED UP, THE CAR SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED INTO THE CURB SO HARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THAT IT TOTALED THE BACK AND FRONT RIMS OF MY TIRES. THEN ONCE I THANKED GOD FOR NOT LETTING THERE BE ANY CARS AROUND ME AND LETTING ME BE ALRIGHT, THEN I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE CAR. I BACKED THE CAR UP A LITTLE BIT THEN PRESSED DOWN ON BRAKE TO CHANGE GEAR INTO DRIVE AND TURNED STEERING WHEEL AWAY FROM CURB, AND MY CAR FLEW TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAMP AND CRASHED INTO THE CURB ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF WHICH DAMAGED THE FRONT RIM ON THAT SIDE AND THROUGH ALL OF THIS THE AIR BAG NEVER EJECTED. I WAS DRIVING UPHILL ON A ONE-WAY STREET IN DOWNTOWN WHEN I SAW AND HEARD THE SPARKS ABOUT 1 MINUTE APART FROM EACH OTHER ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE BETWEEN THE CRACK OF THE HOOD, THE CAR LOST POWER AND TURNED OFF. I HAD REPORTED THAT PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT THE SAME LOCATION (AN AREA WHERE MY CELL PHONE COVERAGE WOULD GO OUT). THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED NEAR AN AIRPORT WHICH WAS ANOTHER AREA WHERE MY CELL PHONE COVERAGE WOULD GO OUT. SINCE I HAD FRACTURED MY STERNUM AND HAD THE DISCOLORED IMPRINT OF THE TURN SIGNAL ON MY CHEST, I THOUGHT THAT THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED ON FIRST IMPACT. HOWEVER, AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS, IT IS STILL THE SAME CONDITION. ON ALMOST EVERY OIL CHANGE, I WOULD COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD ADVISE ME TO GIVE IT SOME MORE TIME. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DEPARTMENT AND THEY RESEARCHED THE CASE. IN THE END, THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA WHICH I BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER 2006. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS OUT OF MY VEHICLE, FROM COSMETICS, TO VIBRATING STEERING WHEEL, AIR CONDITIONING ISSUES, LEAKING STRUTS, ALIGNMENT ISSUES, AND MOST RECENTLY THE ECM. I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE, AND RIGHT BEFORE I TURNED INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION MY CAR SHOOK, AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. ALL OF THE LIGHTS AND SERVICE INDICATORS CAME ON, AND THEN SHUT OFF LEAVING ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I TRIED TO START MY VEHICLE AGAIN, BUT NOTHING. MY FRIEND HAD TO HELP ME TO PUSH THE VEHICLE INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THERE, I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN, AND SO I HEADED HOME. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY SHOP, AND AFTER CHECKING THE ENTIRE CAR AND DOING A DIAGNOSTIC, I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ECM AND THAT IT WOULD COST 650 TO REPAIR (AND THAT'S FOR A USED/REBUILT ONE). I CALLED TOYOTA, AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY UP TO 80,000 MILES. I AM JUST UNDER 80,000 MILES THANK GOD. THE GUY I SPOKE WITH SOUNDED AS IF HE WASN'T SURPRISED OF THE ISSUE. 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA EXPERIENCING THROTTLE SURGING. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF SUDDENLY. AT AROUND 20,000 MILES, WHEN WE PRESSED THE BRAKES, THERE WAS PLAY IN THE PEDAL AND THERE WAS A PULL TO THE RIGHT SLIGHTLY. TOYOTA, REPAIRED THE BRAKES SINCE OUR CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. MAIN FUSIBLE LINK BLOWN. WIRING W/O RATING. MECHANIC CALLED TOYOTA AND THERE WASN'T ANY LITERATURE AVAILABLE TO GIVE MECHANIC THE RATING. TOYOTA REFUSED TO SEND WIRING DIAGRAM. MECHANIC FOUND ONLINE AND STILL NO INFO ON RATING. REPLACED WITH HEAVIEST RATING AVAILABLE. PROBLEM FIXED AND UNABLE TO DUPLICATE WHAT CAUSED PROBLEM. I WAS AT DELUCA TOYOTA TODAY TO HAVE MY TIRE PROBLEM CHECKED AGAIN ( COMPLAINT ODI# 10200011), AND I EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE PERSON GARRY BRADLEY ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER ONCE THE TILT WHEEL WAS TILTED IN A SAFE AND COMFORTABLE POSITION FOR ME TO DRIVE.. HE EXPLAINED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THIS WAS CONSIDERED A "DESIGN FLAW".. THEY GAVE ME A CAR TO DRIVE WHILE THEY WERE INSPECTING MY 2007 COROLLA AND THIS CAR A 2008 TOYOTA SOLARA HAS THE EXACT SAME "DESIGN FLAW".. ONCE THE WHEEL IS TILTED SO THAT I CAN DRIVE SAFELY AND COMFORTABLY I CAN ONLY SEE " 0-20 MPH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SPEEDOMETER" AND ON THE RIGHT SIDE I CAN ONLY SEE " 140 MPH AND MORE", ANYTHING IN BETWEEN 20 MPH & 140 MPH IS NOT VISIBLE TO ME.. I GUESS TOYOTA IS DISCRIMINATING AGAINST ALL OF US THAT ARE SHORT OR WE SHOULDN'T DRIVE THEIR CARS IF WE WANT TO BE SAFE.. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE.. WHY PUT THE TILT WHEEL OPTION IN THEIR VEHICLES IF YOU CANNOT USE THEM SAFELY.. *TR

ON 5/30/07 I PICKED UP A 2007 TOYOTA COROLLA CE..AT THE TIME OF THE TEST DRIVE I DID NOT NOTICE THIS SAFETY ISSUE & PERHAPS IT WAS DUE TO THE DISTRACTION OF THE SALES PERSON'S CONSTANT TALKING.. SINCE I AM SHORT I NEED TO MOVE THE SEAT UP FORWARD TO BE COMFORTABLE WHEN DRIVING & TO BE ABLE TO SEE CLEARLY, BUT ONCE I MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD & TILT THE STEERING WHEEL SO THAT I CAN DRIVE COMFORTABLY & SAFELY I CANNOT SEE ALL OF THE SPEEDOMETER READINGS.. ON THE LEFT I CAN SEE 0-20 MPH & ON THE RIGHT I CAN SEE 90-110 MPH ANYTHING IN BETWEEN IS NOT AT EYE LEVEL & I CANNOT SEE THE SPEEDOMETER READINGS.. WHEN I DRIVE IN ORDER TO SEE MY SPEED I NEED TO TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD LOOK DOWN & UNDER THE TOP PART OF THE STEERING WHEEL.. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN DOING 70 MPH ON A PARKWAY WHICH I NEEDED TO DO & I CONSIDER IT TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS TOYOTA.. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA ACTUALLY PUT THIS OUT ON THE MARKET. HOW DID THIS VEHICLE PASS SAFETY TESTS ? ALSO, ON THIS EXACT SAME VEHICLE I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT ON THE TIRES ODI # 10200011 WHICH I AM STILL HAVING A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH.. HAS TOYOTA SACRIFICED CONSUMER SAFETY FOR PRODUCTION & INCOME ? THIS IS NOT MY FIRST NEW CAR BUT IT HAS BECOME A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND I AM AFRAID THAT THESE VEHICLE PROBLEMS WILL BECOME MY STATISTIC.. COMMUNICATIONS WITH TOYOTA HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL.. *TR
