The contact owned a 2011 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while her husband was driving at 15MPH, another vehicle ran through a red light and crashed into the front driver's side of the vehicle. No warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. The police and the fire department arrived at the scene and a police report was filed. The contact stated that no injuries were reported on either side. The vehicle was totaled and towed to the service center. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

STEERING

While driving on a straight road steering wheel suddenly jerk hard left and right several times for just a few seconds and then went normal. This caused the car to cross lane into oncoming traffic. Fortunately steering went to normal before causing head on collision. I took the car into local Toyota dealer to be checked. They could not duplicate trouble. No warning lamps lit up and no fault codes per dealership technician.

TALKED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN MUSCATINE IA. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO KNOW ISSUES. WE WERE WILLING TO PAY FOR 1 HOUR OF TROUBLE SHOOTING IF THERE WAS A FIX. DEALERSHIP STATES THERE IS NO KNOW PROBLEM. WE HAVE NOTICED PROBLEM FOR MORE THEN 5 MONTHS, IT IS BECOMING MORE PRONOUNCED AND UNSAFE. THIS MY WIFE'S PRIMARY CAR.

THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME I SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A TURN (LEFT OR RIGHT) OR MERGE INTO THE FREEWAY, WHEN I SLOW DOWN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND TRIES TO TAKE OFF AS THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, AND WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND TRY CHANGING LANE TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD TO PRESS HARD ON THE BREAKS TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I'M A 52 YEAR OLD MALE DRIVER AND THE CAR IS A 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA AUTOMATIC DRIVE. THE TEMPERATURE WAS 4 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP TURNING LEFT ON TO A RURAL ROUTE HEADING WEST. THE ACCELERATOR DROPPED TO THE FLOOR GOING FAR BEYOND WHERE I PUSHED IT WITH MY FOOT. I HAD TO STOMP THE BRAKE SO IT WOULD RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR AS IT ALREADY ACCELERATED BEYOND SAFE SPEEDS. THE ACCELERATOR WASN'T STUCK IN A FLOOR MAT AS IT RELEASED WHEN I STOMPED THE BRAKE. THE 2011 COROLLA OFTEN EXHIBITS AN AUTO-PILOT FEELING ON A FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD OR GOING DOWNHILL AT WHICH YOU CAN REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND IT WILL MAINTAIN THAT SPEED FOR ANOTHER MILE OR SO RATHER THAN DECELERATING. DURING THIS TIME, THE BRAKE STIFFENS AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A STRONG UPWARD FORCE ON YOUR FOOT AS YOU TRY TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL DOESN'T DECELERATE THE VEHICLE VERY MUCH. IT APPEARS TO TRY TO CONTINUE THE SPEED THE AUTO-PILOT CHOSE. WHEN THE AUTO-PILOT ISN'T EXPERIENCE, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NORMAL AND GOES DOWN WHEN DEPRESSED AS YOU WOULD EXPECT. I HAVE TRIED TO DOWNSHIFT TO FORCE DECELERATION AS WELL BUT SHIFTING INTO THIRD DOES NOT RESET THE AUTO-PILOT. SHIFTING INTO SECOND MIGHT RELEASE THE AUTO-PILOT BUT I BELIEVE THAT IS DANGEROUS TO THE OCCUPANTS AND HARMFUL TO THE TRANSMISSION SO I HAVE NOT TRIED SHIFTING INTO SECOND. I STARTED TO HEAR A LOUD ROARING/ROAD NOISE FROM FRONT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH. SINCE MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT, I ASSUMED IT WAS A TIRE PROBLEM AND NOT A FAILED BEARING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO COSTCO WHERE I RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES. I INFORMED THE ADVISOR THERE THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ( I DID NOT SPECIFY A SIDE). HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRES AND SOUNDED LIKE A FAILED/FAILING BEARING. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2009-2013 TOYOTA COROLLA'S, SPECIFICALLY THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. DEALER REPLACED CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING AND PRESSURE PLATE. CONSIDERING IT FAILED TWICE, I BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE RELEASE BEARINGS ON THIS VEHICLE. Part of a customer support repair program through Toyota. It expired, and Toyota Customer Care at 1-888-270-9371 told me to file a complaint at NHTSA.gov. So I am filing a complaint. The paint is peeling on my car rapidly and I have missed the support program deadline because it was not happening in the timeframe they created for this problem. But there is no reason for my pain to be peeling like it is other than manufacture error.

Sunroof exploding while driving. Could cause safety issues if inner compartment was opened when the incident occurred. The vehicle has not been inspected yet but I will have a glass company replace the sunroof asap. No symptoms of any fault was present before the incident occurred.

Sunroof suddenly exploded while driving 40 MPH on a highway No evidence of projectile was in the car. The glass was volcanoed up. It was around 50 degrees outside. I was immediately confused as to what happened. I was traveling in a merging lane and could have vered into the other lane and hit another car. Glass was Falling down onto me and the passenger seat. No police were called I took the vehicle to a glass repair. Insurance was not involved as my dectiable would not have been meet for the cost of the repairs. No warning or any symptoms the sunroof glass from the car. Itjust suddenly exploded for no reason.

BRAKES WARPED AFTER LESS THAN 60,000 MILES. CAUSE SHAKING OF THE CAR WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED

I WAS ON A DECLINE ON THE OFF RAMP, AND WHEN I WENT TO STOP FOR A LITE, MY BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP MY CAR. I TRIED TO STOP, AND FELT AS IF THE CAR SPED UP. I HAD COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND HAD THEM CHECK MY BREAKS FOUR TIMES BECAUSE OF A STOPPING ISSUE. SHORTLY BEFORE MY CRASH MY BREAKS WOULD SCREECH, AND I THOUGHT IT TO BE DURT ON MY BREAKS, OR BREAK DUST. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO A RECOMMENDED BREAK SHOP TO GET MY BREAKS CHECKED OUT. THEY SAID THE BREAK PADS, RODERS, CALIPERS ETC WERE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH ONLY ONE OR TWO ISSUES. I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE RODERS, AND BREAK PADS WITH OEM PARTS. THE ISSUE NOW SITS WITH THE BREAKS BEING DEPRESSED AS HARD AS ONE CAN DEPRESS THEM, ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR NOT STOP, AND FEEL LIKE IT WAS SPEEDING UP. AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH, YOU COULD HEAR THE MOTOAR SPEEDING UP EVEN WITH MY FOOT ONLY ON THE BREAK AND CLEARLY THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR AS A NEW VEHICLE. EVER SINCE I HAVE HAD IT THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ACCELERATION ISSUE TO WHERE IT DOES NOT SLOW DOWN FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER RELEASING YOUR FOOT FROM THE GAS. IT ACCELERATES OFTEN TO WHERE YOU HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES FIRMLY TO WHERE THE ANTI LOCK THEN KICKS IN. DURING SERVICING IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO SAY THAT THERE IS NOT AN ISSUE. ON APRIL 19TH, 2014, AT ABOUT 1:30 PM, MYSELF AND MY WIFE LEFT OUR FRIEND'S HOME IN LOS ALTOS HILLS, CA. AS WE LEFT THE DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 5 MPH ON BAKER LN, THE CAR WENT INTO A SUDDEN, UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION MODE, REACHING SPEEDS 50 - 60 MPH. WITHIN ABOUT 1000 - 1500 FT WE APPROACHED A THE INTERSECTION OF BAKER LN AND PURISSIMA RD., ALL THE WHILE DESPERATELY TRYING TO PRESS THE BRAKE, APPLYING HAND BRAKE AND SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL. AGAINST THIS SUDDEN BURST OF ACCELERATION, THE CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD AT THAT INTERSECTION, AND FELL INTO A DITCH AND STOPPED BY A TREE TRUNK. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH 45K MILES. FOR THE PAST MONTH WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 40 AND 70 MPH THE CAR LOOSES POWER. I CHANGED THE PEDAL BUT IT DID NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER MORE RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A AN OFFICIAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THE CARS COMPUTER HAS TO BE REPROGRAMMED (FLASH). I CALLED THE TOYOTA WEBSITE TO ASK ABOUT THE PROCEEDURE AND IF TOYOTA PAID FOR THIS-ALSO NO HELP. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND TOYOTA SHOULD PAY FOR THIS PROCEEDURE I AM NOT THE ONLY VICTIM. TOYOTA COULD NOT TELL ME HOW MANY OTHER 2011 COROLLAS REPORTED THIS PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A CITY STREET WHEN A VEHICLE CHANGED LANES WITHOUT WARNING INTO MY LANE. MY FIRST REACTION WAS TO HONK AS I SWERVED TO AVOID BEING HIT. THE HORN DID NOT WORK, THANK GOD MY THERE WAS ENOUGH ROOM FOR ME TO MOVE TO AVOID BEING HIT. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR THE AIR BAG RECALL TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED. I'M WONDERING IF SOMETHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THE SPIRAL CABLE THEN OR IF IT IS JUST A FAULTY EQUIPMENT. WENT I GOT HOME I KEPT TRYING TO MAKE MY CAR HONK AND I NOTICED WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL A CERTAIN WAY IT HONKED. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND ASKED ABOUT THE HORN AND WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE A $200 FEE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THAT MONEY WOULD GO TOWARDS THE COST OF GETTING IT FIXED. I ASKED WHAT THE MAXIMUM COST WOULD BE HE SAID $400. SO THEY DIAGNOSED MY VEHICLE AND SAID THE PART IS $600 AND I HAD 2 WEEKS TO DECIDE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYMORE MONEY TO HAVE THIS FIXED. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED! A HORN CAN MAKE A LIFE OR DEATH DIFFERENCE.

FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS MY 2011 TOYOTA HAS BEEN GIVING ME A HARD TIME TURNING ON, FIRST I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COROSION ON THE BATTERY SO I CLEANED THE BATTERY IT SEEMED TO WORK FOR A WHILE BUT THEN THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, TODAY I WAS IN THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING A COILISON, LUCKYL I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR AND PULL OVER, A PASSER BY STOPPER AND GAVE ME A BOOST WHICH TURNED THE CAR ON UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME, I TURENED THE CAR OFF WENT HOME AND CAME OUTSIDE TO TRY AND TURN THE CAR BACK ON AFTER AN HOUR THE CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING, ALL THE LIGHTS WOULD BE ON BUT THE CAR WOULDNT TURN ON, I WENT AND GOT MY PORTABLE PBATTERY CHARGER AND WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON, I WAS REALLY SCARED DRIVING AND I FEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING A CAR THAT CAN TURN OFF ON YOU AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT , IM NOT SURE IF THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM IS GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR FREE SINCE ITS A SECOND HAND CAR AND I PAID ALMOST 12,000 FOR IT BUT I JUST MADE A YEAR WITH THE CAR ON THE 12 OF OCTOBER AND NOW ITS GIVING ME PROBLEMS I NEVER BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WAS NEW BEFORE I GOT THE CAR BEFPRE HAND SO IDK WHAT IS GOING ON NOW

THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK IS NOT RESPONDING TO MY KEY PAD (STATIONARY). MY RADIO AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF (WHIL DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE). WHEN I RESEARCHED THE LOCK, I WAS TOLD MY CAR'S COMPUTER MAY NEED TO BE "REBOOTED". WHY DO I NEED TO "REBOOT" A COMPUTER AFTER USE FOR 4YEARS? WHY IS THE COMPUTER FAULTY. THIS IS NOT A LUXURY VEHICLE WITH SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPUTING OPTIONS. I DO NOT USE THE VEHICLE IN A INAPPROPRIATE MANNER. IF THE RADIO TURNED ITSELF OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I AM CONCERNED FOR A DIFFERENT PART OF THE COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONING THAT COULD COST MY LIFE.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REPAIR UNDER NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: 10042602 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE) WHICH INCLUDED RE-FLASHING THE COMPUTER. MY BRAND NEW CAR (53 MILES ON IT) SEEMS TO LOOSE POWER WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AT 40 TO 50 MPH. I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR MAINTAINING THE SPEED AND IT FEELS AS IF SOMEONE ELSE IS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. YOU CAN FEEL THE SURGE OF THE POWER LOSS .IT DROPS QUICKLY BY ITSELF. ALSO WHEN MAINTAING THE SPEED OF 60 TO 65 ON THE FREEWAY I WILL LET OFF THE ACCELERTOR AND MY CAR MAINTAINS THAT SPEED AS IF I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON.IT DRIVES QIUTE A DISTANCE BEFORE EVER SLOWING DOWN. I TOOK IT TO DEALER BUT THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. BECAUSE I KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM!!!!! AND IF THEY TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AS THEY SAID THEY DID (SEVERAL TIMES) THERE IS NO WAY THEY COULD NOT HAVE NOTICED THE BOGGING DOWN OF THE ENGINE.

p195 /65r/15 91 h. yokohama avid ascend. i bought 4 tires on 04/11/22 at kinderhook toyota my car had 61008 miles on it. on 08/04/25 brought my car to same dealer was told i needed new tires. multipoint inspection said front tires had 3 32nd of tread and back tires had 4 32nd of tread wear left. my car had 80678 miles on it. the tires lasted less than 20000 miles. they had an 85000 mile warranty on them. i can understand tires lasting maybe 60000 miles or so, but only 20000 miles? was told i can contact your office about this. could not find a different page for a non- accident problem. dealer said to contact yokohama customer service and kinderhook toyota would send the tires back.

ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS (WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND IN PARK) MY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT ALARM WAS ALERTING ME TO BUCKLE UP BUT I AM ALWAYS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR/NO ONE IS RIDING IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ON THAT SAME SIDE (FRONT/RIGHT) AN AIR BAG PANEL KEEPS POPPING OUT/WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE AND I AM VERY AFRAID THERE IS A RECALL ON MY CAR AND NO ONE IS AWARE OF IT. THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS AT LEAST TWO WEEKS AGO WHEN I COULDN'T ADJUST THE RADIO VOLUME WHILE DRIVING, THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT WOULDN'T ALLOW YOU TO DO SO IF DRIVING. TODAY WE HOPPED IN THE CAR TO DO A QUICK ERRAND AND NOTICED THE RADIO HAD NO DISPLAY ON IT. WHILE FRIEND WAS IN THE STORE TRIED TURNING THE RADIO OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, THEN TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN FINALLY TRIED PUSHING EVERY BUTTON THAT WAS RELATED TO THE RADIO. THE FIRST BUTTON WOULD TURN THE RADIO OFF THE NEXT WOULD TURN IT BACK ON AND SO ON AND SO FORTH AND THAT IS ALL THEY WOULD DO. CAME HOME AND RESEARCHED THIS TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH LATE MODEL COROLLAS. THE FRIGHTENING THING ISN'T THAT IT ISN'T FIXABLE BUT RATHER THAT IT RECURS WITHIN ABOUT 2 YEARS TIME FROM THE FIRST TIME AND MINE IS 6 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD IT 1 MONTH. IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE MORE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SEEM TO GET INVOLVED THE OLDER THE CAR IS. I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER USED CAR SO SOON ON WHAT I MAKE. I HOPE SOMEONE LOOKS INTO THIS SO THESE CARS AREN'T FLOODING THE RESALE MARKET. THE VEHICLE WAS BOTH STATIONARY AND MOVING AND IT WAS AT NIGHT SO THE LIGHTS WERE ON. ON JANUARY 7, 2016 WE BROUGHT OUR CAR TO THE WESTON, FLORIDA TOYOTA DEALERSHIP BECAUSE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE SERVICE WRITER SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE "CANISTER" AND THAT IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY GAVE US A LONER-CAR AND SAID THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED IN TWO DAYS. LATER THAT WEEK, THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD US THE COMPUTER HAD TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD BE "A WHILE" UNTIL THE PART ARRIVED. WE STILL HAVE THE "LOANER" AND THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE JANUARY 7TH. TODAY IS APRIL 27TH. SO FAR 110 DAYS. THE LOANER CAR IS VERY NICE (2015 TOYOTA COROLLA). MY WIFE LOVES THE BACK-UP CAMERA, BUT HER CAR STILL SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAS 44,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED ONLY ONCE BEFORE. INTERESTINGLY, THE PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE CAR HAD TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER. THE CAR WOULD LOSE OVER 100 RPM AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THEN QUICKLY ACCELERATE BACK UP TO THE PRECEDING RPM. I THINK THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE FLASHED THE COMPUTER OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT MADE ME THINK (IN LAYMAN'S LANGUAGE) THAT HE "REBOOTED" THE CAR'S COMPUTER. THIS WEEK THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY EXPECT THE NEW COMPUTER TO ARRIVE BY MAY 15TH. I WROTE A LETTER TO SOUTHEAST TOYOTA AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT WE WERE NOT ALONE BUT THERE ARE OVER 50 CARS IN THEIR SYSTEM THAT NEED NEW COMPUTERS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE MOST POPULAR CAR IN THE WORLD SHOULD HAVE AN ADEQUATE SUPPLY OR SUPPLIERS TO REPLACE THE ONES THAT GO BAD...TO GET A COMPUTER FROM MANUFACTURING TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD TAKE FEWER THAN FIVE MONTHS. WELL THE ACCIDENT HASN'T HAPPENED YET, BUT IT COULD BE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER IF THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T FIX THIS. WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40-60 IT SEEMS AS THOUGHT THE CRUISE IS ON. THE CAR DOES NOT DECELERATE NORMALLY. IF THERE IS A SLIGHT SLOPE DOWN IT EVEN PICKS UP SPEED. IT'S STILL GETTING FUEL EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE PEDAL. IT CAN TAKE A FEW MIN OR SEVERAL MILES BEFORE IT KICKS OFF THE GAS AND ACTS NORMALLY. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP NEXT SATURDAY TO GET THIS FIXED, BUT I'M READING THAT SOME DEALERSHIPS ARE SAYING THIS IS NORMAL. I HOPE MINE DOESN'T SAY THAT BECAUSE THIS IS DANGEROUS!! I PURCHASED MY 2011 TOYOTA S MODEL ON JULY 4TH 2011. ON THE DRIVE HOME I NOTICED A DRAGGING FEELING BUT THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS ME AT FIRST GETTING USED TO THE CAR. BUT ON A DAILY BASIS THE CAR WOULD RANDOMLY PULL BACK, SO I STARTED TO PAY ATTENTION AND NOTICED THAT PRETTY RANDOMLY BUT MOSTLY BETWEEN 40 -60 MPH THE CAR RPM'S WOULD DROP ANYWHERE BETWEEN 200-600 RPM'S (QUICK JUMP DOWN) AND THEN BACK UP CAUSING THE CAR TO DRAG AS IF THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. I TOLD THEM THERE WAS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM AND I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY KIDS AROUND IN IT. THEY ASKED ME TO COME BACK AND TEST DRIVE WITH THE TECHNICIAN WHICH I DID. THE TECH NOTICED AND FELT THE PROBLEM- THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK AND CALLED ME BACK AND SAID TOYOTA KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM AND IS DILIGENTLY WORKING ON IT THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A FLASH DRIVE BUT THAT TOYOTA WAS BEING EVASIVE ON THEIR ANSWERS. I CALLED THE DEALER BACK ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND TO ME. THIS CAR IS SO ANNOYING TO DRIVE AND DOESN'T FEEL SAFE AT ALL. I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND FILED ANOTHER CLAIM AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED IN 48 HOURS- THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. SINCE LEASING THIS BRAND NEW 2011 COROLLA, I NOTICED THAT AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40MPH AND 60MPH THE CAR WOULD FEEL AS IF IT WAS DECELERATING, AKIN TO BEING BUFFETED BY STRONG HEADWINDS, ALTHOUGH THE SPEED DID NOT REFLECT IT. I DRIVE MOSTLY AROUND A CITY THAT HAS MANY ZONES WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 40MPH, SO I WAS EXPERIENCING THIS PHENOMENON A LOT. BY THE TIME I HAD 250 MILES ON THE CAR, I KNEW THAT IT WAS NOT JUST A QUIRK, AND I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP. WITHIN 30 MINUTES HE WAS BACK TO SAY THAT NOT ONLY HAD HE FOUND THE DECELERATION ISSUE ONLINE, HE FOUND IT ON TOYOTA'S OWN SERVICE WEBSITE, AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE COMPANY HAD ISSUED AN OFFICIAL SERVICE BULLETIN. IT IS NOT SHOWING THAT ONE WAS ISSUED ON THIS SITE, BUT I HAVE SEEN IT, AND THE DEALERSHIP WERE ABLE TO REPROGRAM THE CAR'S COMPUTER (THEY CALLED IT A "FLASH"). MY NEW 2011 COROLLA LE MIGHT HAVE A SAFETY DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION OR FUEL SYSTEM. WHETHER AT FREEWAY OR LOCAL, I CAN FEEL THE PULL-BACK WHILE DRIVING. ACCORDINGLY, THE RPM WAS FOUND TO BE FLUCTUATED BETWEEN 100-400RPM DROPPING INSTANTLY (1-2S). IT HAPPENED A LOT. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE DEALER SERVICE TECHNICIANS DUPLICATED MY CONCERN (SUDDEN PULL-BACK). THEY EVEN FOUND THE PULL-BACK (OR RPM DROPS DOWN SUDDENLY) IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 60 MILES. THEN THEY OPENED THE CASE AND GOT THE FIELD TECHNICAL SPECIALISTS CHECK THIS PROBLEM. IT TAKES ONE WEEK AND THE REPORT SAID THAT "OTHER VEHICLES ARE CHECKED AND SAME THINGS OBSERVED. THIS VEHICLE WAS OPERATED AS DESIGNED AND NO REPAIR NECESSARY." BUT THE WEIRD THING IS THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER (HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS COMMUNICATED BETWEEN THESE SPECIALISTS AND ME) THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ALSO THINK SOMETHING WAS WRONG (POSSIBLE SOFTWARE). THEY OFFERED ME A COUPLES OF MONTH PAYMENT CREDIT (700-1000$). AND THEY TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THEY CAN'T FIX IT AND HAVE TO HAVE THAT DONE IN JAPAN. IT TAKES A WHILE. NOW THE SERVICE MANAGER RECOMMENDED ME TO CLAIM TO THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GET MY MONEY BACK. BUT THE TOYOTA CASE MANAGER IS BAD. HE INSISTED THAT IN TOYOTA'S POSITION, NOTHING WAS WRONG. 1.- Bolsa de aire. Si me lo solicita, por supuesto puedo llevarlo a inspección. 2.- Se puso en riesgo ya que pudo haber sido otro tipo de accidente y las bolsas de aire no se activaron. Yo usaba el cinturón de seguridad. 3.- No ha sido confirmado por un distribuidor local. 4.- No no ha sido inspeccionado por el fabricante. 5.- No hubo ningún tipo de luces o indicador de la falla de las bolsas de aire. Additionally, the tires were losing air. The contact had to plug an item into the aux for the glitch to stop. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

I was notified of the air bag recall a year ago but the car dealerships in my area does not have the parts and I need to use my vehicle daily. So I am not sure what to do from here for that but I believe that the appropriate time to remedy this recall has past already and the fact that we have our children riding with us and we are unaware that their life is in danger or because we can not get it fixed is not acceptable. Then on top of that I am having issues like when my 2011 Corolla is sitting idle it will rev up the engine without touching the gas pedal and does this randomly and without warning and also while I am driving around 55 MPH on the interstate or highway sometimes it will dramatically drop and lose about 10- 15 MPH speed for no reason and this happens randomly as well. And this fluctuation happens during cruise control the most so I no longer even use that function. Also both headlights have moisture in them and are so fogged up now that visibility is almost impossible at night now. Also the weather striping around all my windows have dry rotted and broke off and there is practically nothing left of stripping anymore. Then the center dash above the radio just broke and gave out under my phone holder while driving, it broke into about 15 different pieces. I know that my phone or the holder is even close to heavy enough to cause the dash panel to cave in like that. I called to get a price on the dash and it was like $250+ and who can afford that for a piece of plastic. Lastly my driver and passenger seat will get stuck if you try adjusting them and sometimes it will let you move the seat but to do so you have to hop up and down for several minutes and throughout the adjustment to get the seat to move in any direction.

OUR CRUISE CONTROL WILL RESET THE SPEED AT VARIOUS TIMES, WE WILL BE GOING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT WILL GRADUALLY SLOW DOWN WITHOUT US DISABLING IT WITH A BRAKE PRESS OR SWITCHING IT OFF. (MY WIFE DOES NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND CANNOT VERIFY THIS.) 3. OUR RADIO WILL TURN ON SUDDENLY WITHOUT PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON. 4. OUR RADIO WILL EJECT A CD WITHOUT US HAVING THE RADIO ON. 5. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE RADIO WOULD TURN OFF WHEN CHANGING THE STATIONS AND THE DEFROST LIGHTING WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE HIT A STATIONARY VEHICLE ON ITS LEFT REAR, AT 25 PLUS MPH, WITH NO ADVANCE BRAKING. DRIVER EXPERIENCED FULL SUN BLINDNESS. NATURALLY THE QUARTER PANELS WERE DESTROYED, BUT THE DAMAGE INCLUDED THE SUSPENSION, WHEEL UNIVERSAL, CAR DOORS WERE PUSHED TOGETHER, AND THERE WAS EVEN A RUMBLE ON THE ROOF. CAR TOTALED. NO AIR BAGS EVER DEPLOYED. THIS SAID, THE DRIVER WAS UNSCATHED AND THE ALIGNMENT WAS STILL GOOD. THE ISSUE GIVEN THAT THE DOORS WERE PUSHED TOGETHER, THERE WAS A RUMPLE IN THE ROOF, BOTH TIRES WERE DEFLATED, AND THE UNIVERSAL AND AXELS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED (THIS WAS THE MINIMUM IDENTIFIED DAMAGE), THIS SEEMS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT.

I DRIVE QUITE A BIT AND NORMALLY KNOW MY VEHICLES PRETTY GOOD. I HAVE RECENTLY OBTAINED THIS 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA S AND IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION OVERALL. I MADE A TRIP 2 DAYS AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A HESITATION BETWEEN 55-65 MPH. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 11AM IN THE MORNING AT 78F. DRIVING ON A FLAT WELL MAINTAINED BLACK TOP ROAD THE VEHICLE DOES IN FACT HAVE A CONSTANT HESITATION THAT DROPS APPROXIMATELY 1000-2000 RPMS WITH A NOTICEABLE FEEL IN THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY (3-4 SEC) AFTER THE HESITATION THE VEHICLE RECOVERS BACK TO THE ORIGINAL RPM. AS LONG AS STAYING IN THIS SPEED RANGE (55-65 MPH) THE VEHICLE HAS THE HESITATION REPEATEDLY. THE SECOND ISSUE THAT I HAVE NOTICED ON THE SAME VEHICLE IS THE ACTUAL DECELERATION WHEN REMOVING MY FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR. WHEN TRAVELING ON THE SAME ROAD AND TIME AS STATED ABOVE THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO REALLY COAST RIGHT ALONG OR SO IT SEEMS. WHEN SAYING THIS, I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE ROLLS RIGHT ALONG AS IF I AM STILL PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR AT WHICH TIME I MUST APPLY THE BRAKE MORE SIGNIFICANTLY THAN LETTING IT JUST COAST. I BEGIN HEARING AN UNEXPLAINABLE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AT 33,527 MILES WHEN DRIVING SLOW AND OVER SPEED BUMPS. I WAS APPROACHING A FOUR WAY STOP AT THE APPROPRIATE SPEED LIMIT OF 35MPH BEFORE THE IMPACT. AS I WAS GETTING CLOSER, I WENT AHEAD AND DECELERATED. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES IN THE PAST. AS I GOT CLOSER TO THE STOP SIGN, IN A BLINK OF AN EYE, I WAS BEING DRAGGED BY A LARGE CHEVY HEAVY DUTY TRUCK ACROSS THE INTERSECTION. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. THE IMPACT COMPLETELY DISMANTLED MY FRONT END. AFTER THE PARAMEDICS AND FIRE FIGHTERS ARRIVE, I WAS RUSHED TO THE ER FOR REPORTED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. I WAS LOOKED OVER AND WAS DISCHARGED BARELY BEING ABLE TO WALK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP QUITE A DISTANCE AWAY FROM MY HOME. MY INSURANCE SAID THE SHOP COULD BE TRUSTED. I ASKED OVER 20 PEOPLE AND EACH PERSON SAID THAT THE DAMAGE FROM THIS CAR HAS TO RESULT IN BEING TOTALED. THE MECHANIC SAID OTHERWISE. HE BEGAN WORKING ON THE CAR WITHOUT MY CONSENT AND DEMANDED; THREATENED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO PAY HIM $4,000 FOR A FEW DAYS OF WORK AND $7,000 LATER ON. THIS WAS AFTER I HAD ALREADY SPOKEN WITH MY INSURANCE TO FILE THIS CAR AS BEING TOTALED. I CAME TO AN INTERSECTION AND STOPPED, THEN TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE BEFORE NOTICING THAT THE LIGHT WAS STILL RED. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS ROUGHLY 30 FEET AWAY WHEN I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES. I BOUGHT A USED 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA FROM BEAVER TOYOTA IN SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO IN SEPTEMBER 2012. FROM THE BEGINNING I NOTICED A SLIGHT HESITATION WHILE DRIVING. 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA: HAVE HAD CAR ALIGNED 2 TIMES DUE TO EXCESSIVE PULLING TO THE RIGHT, THEREFORE TIRES HAVE WORN UNEVENLY AND NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 17,000 MILES. THE EDGES OF THE TIRES WORE OUT BEFORE 11,000 MILES. I ADDRESSED THE ISSUE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO AT FIRST TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY FOR THE ALIGNMENT; THEN I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ALIGNED UNDER WARRANTY. IT HAD TO BE ALIGNED A SCOND TIME DUE TO CONTINUOUS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I HAVE TO PAY FOR TIRES OUT-OF-POCKET, EVEN THOUGH I THINK TOYOTA SHOULD AT LEAST PRO-RATE A NEW SET OF TIRES. SECOND ISSUE IS THE ENGINE RUNNING ROUGH AND UNEVENLY. IT IDLES ROUGH, AND SINCE I PAID TO HAVE THE INJECTORS CLEANED, IT GETS WORSE GAS MILEAGE THAN EVER. I NOW HAVE THE CAR IN THE DEALERSHIP SHOP AGAIN TO FIX THE IDLE. APPROX. A WEEK AFTER THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH ON 08/29/2011. THIS VEHICLE WAS CRASHED DUE TO AN HIGHER THAN USUAL REV WHICH DELAYS THE TIME FOR A VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE REV ON THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT DECLINE SOMETIMES WHEN RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE CAME WITH TOYOTA CAR SO I HAVE WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES TO HAVE A MULTI POINT INSPECTION AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS PERFECTLY FINE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO "DUPLICATE" THE ISSUE. FEELING LIKE THERE IS NOTHING I COULD DO I GAVE UP AND JUST CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT WITH EXTRA CAUTION AND MAKE PAYMENTS ON MY LEASE TILL THE TERM WAS OVER. ABOUT A YEAR LATER AT 11,000 ON MY RECENT SERVICE VISIT THE TOYOTA MECHANIC TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW BRAKES. HE STATED THAT THIS WAS UNUSUAL AT THIS MILEAGE AND BRAKES SHOULD BE FINE, BUT ON MY CAR THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY GONE. NOW I HAVE ABOUT 12,800 MILES, AND THE ENGINE REVVING IS STARTING TO INTERFERE WITH MY ABILITY TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF MY VEHICLE. THE EXCESSIVE ENGINE REV IS THE CULPRIT THAT CAUSES MY BRAKES BEING USED HEAVILY. AFTER I RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE AND THE BRAKE HAS TO WORK EXTRA HARD TO STOP THE CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED SOUTH EAST TOYOTA FINANCE AND THEY JUST EMPATHIZED WITH MY SITUATION. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE MECHANIC TOOK THREE HOURS TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND REFERRED ME TO A SALES REPRESENTATIVE WHO TRIED TO SELL ME A NEW 2013 TOYOTA COROLLA TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I REFUSED TO BUY A NEW CAR AND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. I AM NOT AN MECHANIC BUT I SUSPECT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLLING THE SPEED, WHICH IS CAUSING MY SPEED TO NOT DECREASE. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S SEAT DOESN'T LOCK PROPERLY, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES REALLY HARD IN ORDER TO GET THE SEAT FRONT-TO-REAR ADJUSTER TO LOCK OR "CLICK" INTO PLACE. THE SEAT ALSO SQUEAKS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, AND I WEIGH ONLY 175 LBS. THIS IS A NEW CAR PURCHASE (W/200 MI). AT 60-75 MPH (AND NOTICEABLE ALSO AT SLOWER SPEEDS ON OTHER ROADS) ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR'S STEERING WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD, IT CANNOT STAY ON A STRAIGHT LINE EVEN IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT MOVED. TRUCKS PASSING BY DO NOT APPEAR TO GREATLY EFFECT STEERING. WIND WAS NOT AN ISSUE. THIS, NOT A LOOSENESS BUT RATHER INACCURATE STEERING, CAUSES A WANDERING WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE CAR WILL WANDER INTO ANOTHER LANE OR OFF THE ROAD INTO A POTENTIAL CRASH. THE DRIVER IS 57, WITH 200-300K MILES DRIVING EXPERIENCE IN MERCEDES TO BMW TO VOLVOS TO GM TO OTHER TOYOTAS TO FORD CARS - W/O AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A REAL AND SERIOUS PROBLEM WHICH MAY CAUSE DEATHS. THERE APPEARS TO BE LITTLE CONTROL BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING. THE TIRES HAVE THE PROPER AIR PRESSURE (GOODYEAR). I REPEAT, THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS NEW CAR I HAVE DRIVEN SINCE 1968. THAT'S PROBLEM #1. PROBLEM #2, A LESSER PROBLEM BUT ALSO RIDICULOUS.. IS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. YOU CANNOT KEEP THE SPEED CONSTANT AT 45-50 MPH. HOLDING THE ACCELERATOR STEADY THE ENGINE SPEED, AS SHOWN IN THE TACHOMETER ,WILDLY JUMPS UP AND DOWN AT WILL, INTERMITTENTLY, RPM GOING FROM 1600 TO 2200. IF YOU HOLD STEADY IT DROPS TO 1600, IF YOU THEN DEPRESS THE PEDAL THE SMALLEST POSSINE ABOUT, IT JUMPS TO 2200, THEN BACK TO 1600. OTHER TIMES THE SAME ACTION WORKS AS YOU WOULD EXPECT A LINEAR PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR WOULD COMMAND A LINEAR INCREASE IN SPEED. AROUND 250-300 MILES I WENT OVER A DIP IN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND WENT TO HIT THE BRAKES WHILE TAKING A TURN THAT WAS APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES WOULD NOT LET ME PUSH THEM DOWN AND WOULD GIVE ME FEEDBACK AS IF ABS WAS ACTIVE. AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS I WAS ABLE TO REAPPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF EIGHT TIMES IN 2,100 MILES. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN SOME CLOSE CALLS, AND ALL THE INCIDENTS HAPPENED AFTER HITTING A DIP WHILE TRYING TO REDUCE MY SPEED FROM OVER 50 MPH TO THE TIME OF HITTING THE DIPS. IT FEELS LIKE ABS IS ACTIVATING, AND IN TURN NOT ALLOWING ME TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. ANOTHER INCIDENT HAPPENED AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY APPROACHING TRAFFIC AND I WENT OVER A DIP ON THE FREEWAY AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO STOP FOR ABOUT A COUPLE OF SECONDS. I REGAINED BRAKES WITH ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE A STOP, BUT I WOULD SAY IT WAS A SAFE STOP. I HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT WHERE THE BRAKES FAILED AS I WAS EXITING A FREEWAY AND I WOULD NOT APPLY MY BRAKES FOR THE FIRST TURN, AND I COULD ONLY APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AFTER I STARTED TO ENTER THE SECOND TURN COMING WITHIN INCHES OF COLLIDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THESE NEAR ACCIDENTS WERE ENOUGH FOR ME TO REPORT IT TO TOYOTA. AFTER BRINGING IT TO TOYOTA, THEY TESTED THE CAR FOR 15 MILES AND TOLD ME IT WAS FUNCTIONING AS IT WAS ENGINEERED TO. I AM POSITIVE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT IT ON 5/23/11 WITH 10 MILES ON IT, AND DROVE IT A TOTAL OF 2,150 MILES. *TR
