The contact stated that while the daughter was driving approximately 70 MPH the daughter lost control of the steering causing the vehicle to roll over and crash into a ditch. During the crash, the vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was destroyed but no air bags were deployed. During the crash, the driver sustained a concussion that later required medical assistance. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the incident. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V024000(AIR BAGS). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The Local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The driver's side curtain air bags were deployed; however, the driver's air bags failed to deploy. The contact exited the vehicle through the passenger side independently. The contact's roommate transported him to his residence. The contact later sought medical assistance and was informed he had sustained a broken nose and broken ribs. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The touch screen in the bottom right corner is not responsive. Original owner said it gave out just before I purchased from them. The main safety concern is now I am unable to use hands free calling which is the main functionality you need with a Bluetooth set up. From what I can see this is a large problem across online forums with this particular model and dealerships will not replace for less than $1000+ and I feel hands free calling should be a safety priority for Toyota enough to replace the screen.

The component that has failed already is the in front passenger side door locker. The door locker is not working in any way, When I am using the switch to lock and unlock the door locker dosen't move. If I use the car key in the drivers side outside to lock and unlock all doors, the other three doors locker work fine, but in front passenger side door locker not work any more. If I use my control alarm something happens.. I am driving my car every day I don't feel comfortable with this matter because somebody can open my door on any traffic lights. Same way I leave my car parked outside in the street I have to be careful to lock manually the door. I hope never forget lock manually my door car.. .. the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? NO Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear... NO Any symptoms o problems prior to the failure

WHILE USING OUR NAVIGATION SYSTEM OUR RADIO REBOOTED AND WILL NOT LOAD. WE WERE USING THE SYSTEM FOR DIRECTIONS BECAUSE IT'S HANDS FREE. I HAVE TRIED 7-8 TIMES TO RESET THE SYSTEM AND I EVEN TRIED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY TO PERFORM A HARD RESET WITHOUT ANY LUCK. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVEN'T HAD ANOTHER ISSUES. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SEEN HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR NAVIGATION/RADIO SYSTEM DOING THE SAME THING. IT'S OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM AND TOYOTA DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WILLING TO REPAIR THE SYSTEM FOR LESS THAN $1,400.00 FROM WHAT OTHER COROLLA OWNERS HAVE STATED.

The factory paint has been peeling very badly and exposing the metal underneath, allowing rust to begin to settle. I have been trying to get it repaired for a while now and continuously have been ignored. I have spoken to Toyota Customer Support and they told me that the warranty expired a couple months ago, and I have no record of them sending any communication out to us telling us it would expire, which was supposed to be what they needed to do per regulations. I was never notified of any resolutions and am extremely upset that they are not wanting to reconsider due to being 2 months out of warranty.

Radio is in constant reboot for months. It’s very unsafe seeing as the radio screen itself is VERY BRIGHT. It is distracting, bright, and it feels unsafe driving at night with what feels like a flashlight being shined in your face over and over again. Toyota dealers will not fix the issue without paying 1,000$ dollar for the same radio just to do the same thing. There were no warning signs, & it also doesn’t allow usb ports to work. This seems to be a common problem in most toyotas not just corolla's.

I'm writing you about my 2014 Toyota Corolla which I bought from Glendale KIA dealership (400 S. Brand st, Glendale, CA ) in Feb ,2022 with a Gold Warranty. It is about selling old (may be used) 2020 four tires to me instead of 2022 tires. I paid for NEW tires and I have the invoice(and credit card transaction ,..) They told me first I only told them NEW tires and I didn't mention 2022 and those tires which are from 2020 are good. Their supervisor on Monday offered me a FULL TANK OF GAS for free instead of new tires and when I said no and I want four new tires 2022. He told me to go there again (Wednesday 03/23/2022) to get new tires but they tried to give me 2020 tires again. I asked them I want to talk with store manger , they said manager is off and when I asked that specific Employees name , he didn't respond and tried to go to other room and I started recording his video and he tried to grab my phone by force . I came out and called 911.The police officers came and went inside of the dealership and stayed with me to take my car outside (with out getting new tires and I'm still have the 2020 tires that they gave me on Monday). I emailed the manager and other guys several times before that day but they didn't respond . They never called back my VM. The scheduling links of their website is broken and from March 15 I tried to email and call them but they never respond. One mor thing , after police officers came one of their associates text me by his personal phone number ,. Most of the employees are Arabs, I think they are kind of family and friends Their employees have access to my information(Social Security, My family home address, cellphone,..) I know in 2019 in California , we had some legal efforts to make car dealers notice the customers about the manufacturing date. My tires manufacturing date is 3820(week 38, year 2020) I also tried to contact with AAA insurance( my car and my life insurance i) and if have an accident because of those old tires.

2014 COROLLA L WITH 4SP AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AROUND 50-55MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND I TRY TO SPEED UP, THE TRANSMISSION WILL BANG HARD WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM 4TH TO 3RD GEAR. THERE IS A LITTLE BIT OF A DELAY WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR WHICH WAS A MONTH AGO. I TOOK THE COROLLA BACK TO MAGIC TOYOTA IN EDMONDS, WA AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED A DAY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR ON 08/01/2020 AND IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY.. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY BUT THEN IT RETURNED LAST WEEK. WHAT'S UNSAFE ABOUT THIS CONDITION IS THE TRANSMISSION IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO BREAK AND IT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY. THIS ISN'T A LIGHT JERK BUT A FULL ON SLEDGE HAMMER SMACK THAT HAPPENS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION HAS A HARD TIME DOWNSHIFTING FROM 4TH TO 3RD. SO IF THE TRANSMISSION BREAKS WHILE I'M DRIVING ON I-405 THEN IT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A REAR-ENDING COLLISION.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON A CROWDED CITY STREET. IT WAS RUSH HOUR AND THE TRAFFIC WAS SORT OF STOP AND GO. AFTER A STOP, I ACCELERATED MY CAR TO ABOUT 25 M/H FOLLOWING THE CAR BEFORE ME, THEN I NOTICED MY CAR WAS GOING FASTER THAN I INTENDED AND APPROACHING THE CAR AHEAD. I APPLIED THE BRAKES IN A NORMAL MANNER, HOWEVER, THE CAR DID NOT SLOW DOWN AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. FEELING SOMETHING WAS WRONG, I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, BUT IT WAS NOT EARLY ENOUGH TO STOP BEFORE REAR-ENDING THE CAR. EVEN AFTER THE CRASH AND STOP, MY CAR'S ENGINE WAS CONTINUING REVVING UP UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE BY TURNING THE KEY. I HAD A DASH CAM ON MY COROLLA AND THE ACCIDENT WAS RECORDED WITH CLEAR MOVIE AND SOUND.

WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH HEADLIGHTS ON, WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF UPTO THE SPEED OF 85 MPH EVEN THOUGH I SET CRUISE AT 65 MPH. I TRIED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES AND ALL THE TIME IT WENT UP TO 85 MPH AND STAYED THERE EVEN THOUGH I SET IT FOR LOWER SPEED. THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING WHILE THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. I HAVE DROVE WITH CRUISE ON, IN THE DAYTIME AND IT WORKS FINE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE NEVER DROVE THIS WITH CRUISE ON AT NIGHT.

THE CAR SOMETIMES HAS A HESITATION PROBLEM FROM A DEAD STOP; ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. THIS CREATES A SCARY SITUATION DUE TO I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN SO I HAVE TO WAIT QUITE AWHILE FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO SPREAD OUT MUCH FURTHER THEN NORMAL (ABOUT 50 CAR LENGTHS) SOMETIMES THIS IS NOT PRACTICAL SO I HAVE TO CHANCE IT & HOPE NOT TO GET BROADSIDED. THE DEALERSHIP IS OF NO HELP & I DOUBT IF THEY HAVE WRITTEN IT DOWN THE 2 TIMES I REPORTED IT. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED OVER 50 TIMES OVER THE LAST 21 MONTHS & STARTED IN MONTH # 1. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT TOYOTA HAD A NEW STYLE TRANSMISSION & THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM BUT THAT IS DOUBTFUL BECAUSE THE ENGINE RPM'S DON'T COME UP. THE SYMPTOMS APPEAR TO BE A FUEL STARVING PROBLEM.

White paint and clear coat is peeling off vehicle in large sections. It started around the windows and door frames but now almost half the vehicle is missing the paint. I was told by a local mechanic that Toyota had a recall but when I went to Meridian Toyota, they said the recall was for 10 years from the manufacturer date which was 10/13. This is a 2014 vehicle so we didn’t purchase it until 2014. I went at the end of 2024 and they refused to help with it since it was manufacturers date and not 10 years from the year of vehicle. The vehicle is now starting to rust due to a known problem from Toyota which they refuse to fix. My family has had 7 Toyota vehicles which we love but I am extremely disappointed that you won’t fix this problem which is in no way our fault. The paint in the pictures attached has actually gotten worse in the past few months. Please help resolve this situation.

THE PAINT ON MY CAR IS COMING OFF IN SHEETS AND CHUNKS AS I GO DOWN THE ROAD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH WHITE PAINT ON TOYOTA'S VEHICLES MANUFACTURED DURING YEARS THAT INCLUDE MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE HAD BEEN A PROGRAM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT IT EXPIRED, I THINK THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED ASAP TO AVOID FUTURE DAMAGES & ISSUES

I BOUGHT A 2014 CERTIFIED TOYOTA COROLLA S AT TOYOTA CULVER CITY LAST JULY 2017, MAINTANANCE OF MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION EVER SINCE I GOT IT. THE OTHER DAY WHILE CLEANING MY VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE PAINT ON THE CORNER SIDE OF MY HOOD IS PEELING OFF. THOUGHT THAT IT WAS JUST NORMAL SO I BOUGHT A TOYOTA TOUCH UP PAINT AND TRIED TO TOUCH UP THE PEELING PAINT BUT EVER TIME I BRUSH IT LIGHTLY TO ADD THE TOUCH UP PAINT THE PAINT ON MY HOOD WILL PEEL OFF. I CHECKED GOOGLE TO SEE IF IM THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS ENCOUNTER THIS PAINT ISSUE. BUT ITS NOT JUST ME. I CHECKED IF THERE ARE ANY RECALLS FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THE PAINT JOB BUT NOTHING.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SECLUDED STREET AT ABOUT 20MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOYD EXPLOSION ON MY RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR. MY PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR HAD EXPLODED. THE MIRROR ITSELF WAS SHATTERED AND HANGING DOWN, THE BACK PANEL WAS FOUND IN SOME BUSHES ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. I WAS DRIVING UP THE STREET SO CARS WERE ON MY LEFT. THERE WAS NO ONE WALKING PAST, NOR WERE THERE ANY BICYCLES OR ANYTHING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THAT COULD CAUSE SUCH DAMAGE. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING. I SPENT ALMOST 30MINUTES WALKING UP AND DOWN THE STREET TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND NOTHING MADE SENSE. THE MIRROR DID NOT TURN IN, AS WOULD HAPPEN IF I HAD HIT SOMETHING. THERE IS A BLACK MARK ON MY CAR DOOR FROM THE GLASS PIECE SLAMMING INTO IT FROM THE EXPLOSION.

I was in a car accident .A woman failed to yield at a stop sign and rammed into the front of my car at a high accelerated speed. I was restrained but the right side of my forehead hit the rearview mirror .causing two huge knots on my head. My eye glasses also smashed into my right eye and I had a cut above my eye .I was thrown to the right passenger seat area , my right hip hit the gear shift and my knees and hip , were bruised. Apparently the seatbelt failed as well , but my main complaint is that the airbags failed to deploy. I suffered damage strain and bruising to both hands, the left was worse , I was made to wear a brace . I was taken to the ER via ambulance . One of the officers assumed I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt , which was not true at all . He thought I hit the windshield but I did not , it was the mirror . I have proof , photos and all EMT and ER records report that I was restrained . A paramedic helped me remove the seatbelt to exit my car . I feel I wouldn't have suffered the head, eye and other injuries if the airbag had deployed.

The AC compressor is failing as it’s blowing hot air at idle or when the vehicle is running at 20-40mph. During Texas hot summers, baby & toddlers are at risk for extreme heat as the AC blows hot/warm air. The problem has been reproduce at an automotive AC shop where they have inspected the AC for leaks, vacuumed refrigerant and replaced refrigerant. Still same issues without any leaks. Police or insurance has not been involved. There are no dash lights when this happens and the issue happens daily which started 3 years ago. The vehicle is driven less because of the issue. There is a TSB T-SB-0086-14 that says this is covered within 36k mile warranty or 3 years. I bought the vehicle with 48K miles and about 2 years later the AC blows hot air at idle.

THE POWER STEERING IS NOT SUITABLE FOR HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF OVER 50 MPH. THIS STEERING IS SO SENSITIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THAT IT REQUIRES 150% CONCENTRATION AND EFFORT TO KEEP THE STEERING STRAIGHT. NATURAL WIND, WIND PRODUCED BY CARS, SMALL BUMPS ON THE ROADS, CONCRETE SEPARATING LINES...ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING WILL CAUSE THIS CAR TO SHIFT DIRECTION TO THE SIDES IN THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS SIMPLY POORLY DESIGNED AND NOT STIFF ENOUGH. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. IN SPORT MODE I DO BELIEVE THE POWER STEERING HARDENS/TIGHTENS A BIT BUT IT IS NOT EVEN ENOUGH. WHILE THE SWITCH IS KEPT IN "DRL" DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT MODE THE CAR TRICKS YOU AT NIGHT INTO THINKING THE AUTO HEADLIGHT, SIDE MARKERS AND TAILLIGHTS ARE ON AFTER STARTING THE CAR, WHEN THEY ARE NOT ON. YOU START THE CAR AND THE HEADLIGHTS, AND DASH GAGE LIGHTS COME ON BUT NOTHING ELSE IS LIT. NO TAILIGHTS, NO SIDE LIGHTS. I AM TOLD BY THE DEALER CANADIAN VERSIONS OF THE COROLLA HAVE TRUE AUTO HEADLIGHTS AND MY CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE PROGRAMMED TO WORK AS AN AUTO SYSTEM, AFTER ADDING THE DASH SENSOR. I AM REQUESTING TOYOTA DO THIS TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY HAZARD TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION ON THIS CAR. AT 38,000 MILES, TOOK OFF FRONT WHEELS TO CHECK BRAKES AND FOUND THAT THE INSIDE OF BOTH ROTORS WERE TERRIFICALLY GROOVED AND THE PADS THE SAME, WHILE THE OUTSIDE OF THE ROTORS WAS GOOD AND THE OUTSIDE PADS HARDLY USED. THE BRAKE CALIPERS ON BOTH SIDES WERE FROZEN. I REPLACED EVERYTHING AND SHOWED THE DEALERSHIP MY PICTURES. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TALK TO THEIR STAFF AND OFFERED NO HELP, SO I PAID FOR EVERYTHING. THIS WAS UNSAFE AND OBVIOUSLY MISSED MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE "160-POINT INSPECTION"! IT LOOKED LIKE A PROBLEM FROM WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW AND FIRST USED AS A RENTAL BY THE DEALER. IN BOTH SITUATIONS, WE WERE AT A RED LIGHT AND THE CAR BEFORE ME ACCELERATED BECAUSE THE LIGHT CHANGED AND SUDDENLY STOPPED. I ALSO ACCELERATED NOT EVEN REACHING 10 MPH AND I HAD TO JAM THE BREAKS. I WAS AT A REASONABLE DISTANCE WHERE WITH PROPER BREAKS I WOULD HAVE STOPPED SOON ENOUGH AND NOT HIT THE CAR, BUT UNFORTUNATELY IN BOTH CASES MY BRAKE PEDAL SANK IN A LITTLE FURTHER AND VIBRATED. THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD AND HIT THE CAR. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT GUARD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FOREHEAD AND FRACTURED THE RIGHT BIG TOE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED CUTS AND BURNS ON THE RIGHT ARM AND THE RIBS WERE FRACTURED DUE TO THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. BOTH THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN DEC 2013 THE LEASE END ON MY 2011 COROLLA WAS COMING DUE SO I PICKED UP A 2014 TOYOTA COROLLA LE LEASE ON 12/4/2013. THIS VEHICLE HAD 8 MILES ON IT & WAS EQUIPPED WITH PROXES 4 PLUS 205/55/R16 TIRES ( I HAVE THE ID NUMBERS FROM EACH TIRE IF YOU NEED THEM). ON 2/26/14 THIS VEHICLE HAD 492 MILES ON IT & I NOTICED THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A LARGE ODD SHAPED CUT IN IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OUTSIDE TREAD AREA. I WENT TO SUNTOYOTA IN HOLIDAY FLA TOOK PICS OF THE TIRE DAMAGE & THE SERVICE REP [XXX] TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE A REPLACEMENT TIRE IN THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ONE. I HAD PURCHASED ROAD HAZARD TIRE COVERAGE AT THE TIME I LEASED THE CAR & "ASSUMED" THIS ODD CUT CAME FROM ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA SO I WASN'T CONCERNED. I HAD TO LEAVE THIS 2014 COROLLA AT DEALERSHIP FOR A GAS TANK ISSUE WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SO I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY PUT IN A CLAIM FOR THAT ISSUE & RENTED A CAR. ON 2/28/14 I WENT BACK TO SUNTOYOTA TO PICK UP MY CAR & WHEN I LOOKED AT THE REPLACEMENT TIRE I ASKED IF IT WAS 'NEW' & WAS TOLD YES IT WAS ALTHOUGH IT DIDN'T APPEAR TO ME IT WAS; I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS DEALER. [XXX] ALSO SAID THAT FIDELITY WARRANTY SERVICE WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT REPLACING A TIRE THAT ONLY HAD 492 MILES ON IT SO WE HAD WORDS OVER THAT. NOW ON APPROXIMATELY 3/26/14 I NOTICED THIS REPLACEMENT TIRE HAS WHAT LOOKS LIKE STRESS LINE CRACKS STRAIGHT ACROSS THE WIDTH OF THE TIRE (TOOK PICS) IN 2 PLACES & CAR ONLY HAS 644 MILES ON IT. OBVIOUSLY I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS & MY SAFETY AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OTHERS RIDING NEAR ME SHOULD THIS TIRE COME APART. I HAVE LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY ISSUES WITH THIS TIRE BUT CANNOT FIND ANY RECENT ONES. ON 6/19/2016 DRIVING HOME FROM RUNNING ERRANDS, I STOPPED AT AT RED LIGHT BUT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, THE CAR DIDN'T BUDGE EVEN THOUGH I WAS TAPPING AND PRESSING THE PEDAL. AFTER ABOUT 7-8 SECONDS, THE CAR FINALLY RESPONDED AND STARTED SLOWLY ROLLING TO NORMAL SPEED. ON THE SAME TRIP AND THE LAST INTERSECTION, THE CAR DID THIS AGAIN BUT AT A STOP SIGN. THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEAD WHEN COMING OUT OF A COMPLETE STOP. IT TOOK ANOTHER 7-8 SECONDS FOR THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION TO RECOGNIZE IT WAS TIME TO ROLL. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO CROSS TRAFFIC BECAUSE I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN HIT DUE TO CRUISING AT 5 MILES PER HOUR. I'M TAKING THE CAR TOMORROW TO THE DEALER. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HESITATION HAPPENED WAS IN 2015 AROUND THE 12,000 MILE MARK. THE CAR WAS AT STOP AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDAL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED AND WHY I TOOK IT. THIS TIME THEY SENT A SERVICE MANAGER WITH ME FOR A TEST DRIVE AND HE SAID IT FELT FINE. I WAS SENT HOME WITH THEIR ASSURANCE THAT THE CAR WAS FINE AND THAT IT WAS A FLUKE THAT THE ENGINE WAS ACTING UP BUT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I'VE READ FORUMS WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH OTHER COROLLAS AND CAMRYS. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I WAS DRIVING MY COROLLA S PLUS 2014 ON EL CAMINO REAL, SAN MATEO, CA SOUTHBOUND JUST PAST HILLSDALE BLVD, WHEN THE ENGINE BECAME VERY NOISY. I LOOKED AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND FOUND THE FOLLOWINGS DATA: 1) RPM METER - 3500 2) SPEEDOMETER - 30MPH 3) LCD DISPLAY - ECO BAR GONE THE CAR BEHAVED THE SAME EVEN WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. TRANSMISSION DEFECT AND/OR COMPUTER MALFUNCTION? LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL MY CAR TO THE ROADSIDE AND BRAKED TO A STOP. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER 2-3 MINUTES, I STARTED THE ENGINE AND ALL RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE EXACT SAME HAPPENING OCCURRED TO ME JUST 2 DAYS LATER ON MARCH 19, 2014. MY COMPLAINT IS NOT WITH TOYOTA, IT IS WITH THE NEW STANDARDS THAT REQUIRE AN EXTREME ANGLE IN THE HEADRESTS OF NEW VEHICLES. I AM UNABLE TO USE THE HEADREST IN MY CAR UNLESS I ADJUST THE SEAT TO RECLINE AND USE A CUSHION BEHIND ME. THE OWNER'S MANUAL ADVISES AGAINST BOTH PRACTICES, AND THEY DON'T SEEM VERY SAFE TO ME. On 11/30/2022 The CHECK light came on. After checking my Toyota manual it showed several reasons for the light. I called the Toyota Dealer (Bryan Easler, Hendersonville, NC) made an appointment for general service and inspection as to why the warning light came on. Was told the warning light was result of rodents chewing through the gas line causing fuel leak. This also happened about three years ago. Because the fuel system is all one piece it couldn't be repaired. I had to pay for a whole new fuel line system, second time I have had to pay for a whole new fuel system. There is no Toyota dealer my my area so I have to travel about forty miles for service. I am a very elderly half cripple woman long distance driving is tiring and dangerous for me, driving with a leaking gas line is dangerous for anyone. This is the second time I've dealt with this problem. There is something seriously wrong with a fuel line being exposed so animals can chew through it. It means I may have to replace it every time a rodent decides to dine on the fuel line. Where can I park and feel safe my gas line won't be destroyed? Not to mention all the other dangers a leaking fuel line can cause. It makes no sense why Toyota would manufacture such a disaster on any car.

The infotainment system touch functionality is broken. The lower part of the touchscreen does not respond to touches. This is apparently due to the faulty digitizer layer. The infotainment system is used for everything from accessing the media, to car settings configuration, to properly interacting and setting the phone for hands-free phone calls communication as required by the vehicular laws in my state (California) and many others. This presents a large safety risk, as the driver can be become heavily distracted operating the system. Per my research, this is a widespread problem across the entire Toyota lineup and affects many models and multiple years around 2014 (particular after 2014). You can easily find this problem reported across the internet in many forums and Youtube videos. Although Toyota has issued some TSB's, it looks like, they are only covered in warranty. Toyota refuses to take responsibility for it and does not have any recalls for and the dealer will charge around $1000 to fix it, by changing the infotainment system.

CAR IS AT 55,000 MILES AND IS APPARENTLY OVER THE 5 YEAR FACTORY WARRANTEE BY 6 DAYS AT TIME IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE. ISSUE ONLY STARTED HAPPENING IN OCTOBER 2018, 1 MONTH BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTEE RAN OUT. I WAS OUT OF TOWN FOR 10 DAYS AND BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE UPON MY RETURN AND WAS ADVISED THE CVT TRANS NEEDED REPLACING BEFORE THEY WOULD DO A RECALL. PICKED CAR UP AND IT WAS 500 TIMES WORSE THAN WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF 4 DAYS EARLIER. I HAVE OWNED MORE THAN 2 TOYOTAS AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE. I AM MORE THAN UNHAPPY WITH THIS SITUATION AND FEE THE 5 YEAR/60,000 MILE FACTORY WARRANTEE SHOULD BE HONORED.

I HAVE DIFFICULTY WHEN LOCKING/UNLOCKING MY VEHICLE WITH MY REMOTE KEY FOB AND MAIN LOOK SYSTEM FROM ALL DOORS OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON IS PUSHED ON THE VEHICLE'S TWO FRONT DOORS THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK WITH THE OTHER DOORS ON THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS THE ONLY DOOR THAT MALFUNCTIONS ALL OTHER DOORS OPERATE EFFICIENTLY. THIS LOCKING MALFUNCTION OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. THE DRIVER'S DOOR CAN BE LOCKED MANUALLY BY PUSHING THE LOCK INWARDS OR USING THE CAR KEY TO MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOOR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE'S LOCKING SYSTEM IS A PRIMARY CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE'S OWNER, AND THE OWNER'S PROPERTY INSIDE THE VEHICLE. The contact attempted to brake, but the Anti-lock Brake System was not engaged. The contact also stated there was a sudden unintended acceleration which caused the contact to rear-end the vehicle in front. No warning lights were illuminated. The Air Bags deployed. Vehicle stopped accelerating while on highway leading to dangerous slow down with 2 little kids in the car. Car would no longer accelerate despite engine running. Check engine light turned on. Toyota dealer ran diagnostics and found vvti actuator had internally failed. This was a very expensive replacement. I worry that a previous recall for ECM module update came too late before damage had already occured to the vvti actuator prematurely. Car is well taken care of and only 100k miles.

MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 12 TIMES SINCE PURCHASED. IT HAS ALREADY HAD A REAR SEAL LEAK, BACK BRAKES AND FRONT BRAKE WORK AND REAR BRAKES REPLACED. THE TIMING CHAIN CABLE WAS LEAKING OIL AND THEY REPLACED IT. IT HAS NOT RAN THE SAME SINCE. IT CONTINUES TO HESITATE TO ALMOST STALLING OUT DURING TAKEOFF AT RED LIGHTS AND INTERSECTIONS. IT'S ACCELERATION IS TERRIBLE EVEN FOR A 4 CYLINDER. WE HAVE BEEN COOPERATIVE FOR THE 3 YEARS WITH TOYOTA, BUT NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS VOID DUE TO THE 3 YEARS, AND NOT THE MILEAGE, WE NO LONGER RECEIVE SUCH A HELPFUL CONVERSATION WITH ANY OF THE MANAGERS THERE. 2014 COROLLA WITH THE PREMIUM WHEELS (BLACK AND SILVER). THE TIRES LOOSE TIRE PRESSURE FASTER THAN ANY OTHER CAR REQUIRING ME TO ADD AIR EVERY MONTH. THEY LOOSE 3-6 PSI EACH MONTH AND THE WEATHER +/- 10 DEGREES CHANGE ACCOUNTS FOR 1 PSI LOSS RULE DOESN'T FIT BECAUSE ITS ALWAYS 90F IN FLORIDA. THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR EVERYONE BECAUSE WE TYPICALLY DON'T CHECK TIRE PRESSURE MORE FREQUENT THAN 4 X A YEAR FOR EACH SEASON. NOT SURE IF THIS HAPPENS TO THOSE WITH THE REGULAR RIMS BUT I HAVE THE SPORT TOYOTA RIMS THAT CAME WITH THE S PLUS TRIM.

I WAS PARKED IN THE UNDERGROUND PARKING AT THE NORTH WEST CORNER OF AMHERST AVE AND SANTA MONICA BLVD IN LOS ANGELES. I WAS EXITING DRIVING UP THE VERY NARROW EXIT RAMP. 1.THE ONE WAY EXIT TO THE LOT CURVES AND IS VERY NARROW. AS I NAVIGATED THE NARROW EXIT, I FELT THAT I WAS ALMOST TOUCHING THE WALL ON THE RIGHT SIDE. 2.I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE IN ORDER TO GET AWAY FROM THE WALL. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND AND THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS AROUND THE BEND, HITTING THE WALL BEHIND ME. THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. 3.APPLYING THE BRAKES HAD NO IMPACT ON THE CAR NEITHER DECELERATING NOR ACCELERATING. THIS SHOWS THAT THE BRAKES DEFINITELY DID NOT WORK. 4.WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES, I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. AT NO TIME DID I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I WOULD HAVE HEARD THE ENGINE. THE INSTANT I SHIFTED TO DRIVE, THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD AT A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED. CONSEQUENTIALLY, MY CAR ZOOMED UP THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE GROUND LEVEL PARKING FACING WEST. WITHIN A SECOND OR SO, MY CAR COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR, PARKED FACING WEST IN FRONT OF PIZZA HUT. DUE TO THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT AT SUCH A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, THE PARKED HYUNDAI SUPERSEDED THE CONCRETE PARKING BARRIER CRASHING INTO PIZZA HUT, SHATTERING THE STORE FRONT WINDOW. 5.MY CAR WAS THANKFULLY STOPPED DUE TO IMPACT WITH THE HYUNDAI ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND A LOW WALL ON THE LEFT SIDE.

WHILE MAKING A 90 DEGREE TURN FROM THE ROADWAY INTO A PARKING SPACE I HEARD A LOUD SNAPPING, BANGING NOISE FROM THE RIGHT FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND CHECKED THE FRONT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND WAS ALARMED TO FIND THAT MY RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS POINTED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF MY LEFT FRONT WHEEL AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND WHAT APPEARS TO BE A SNAPPED TIE ROD END OR LOWER CONTROL ARM. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I HAD A TOW TRUCK HAUL THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THAT I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE WHEEL IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE ON THE TRUCK. THE DRIVER COMMENTED " YOU ARE SOME FORTUNATE THAT YOU WEREN'T TRAVELING ANY FASTER YOU WOULD HAVE NO CONTROL OVER YOUR STEERING!" THE DEALER LET ME KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS AN INNER AND OUTER TIE ROD, SWAY BAR LINK, A STRUT ASSEMBLY AND A NEW AXLE!! THE DEALER FURTHER WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE PARTS ARE ALL UNDER WARRANTY SO YOU ARE ALL SET!! I ASKED, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 11,800 MILES COULD HAVE HAD SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE ANSWER, WE ARE NOT SURE AT THIS POINT THE PARTS WILL BE SHIPPED BACK TO THE FACTORY.

ALMOST HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TELLS US THIS HESITATION IS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL, DUE TO A NEW TRANSMISSION SYSTEM ON THE 2014 COROLLA... ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THIS SO CALLED HESITATION LASTED SEVERAL SECONDS DURING WHICH TIME WE HAD NO MOVEMENT WHAT SO EVER...WITH THIS CONDITION CARS COULD HIT US IN THE BACK CAUSE WE ARE MOMENTARILY STALLED!!!POOR PERFORMANCE AND A SAFETY ISSUE!

I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE LIGHT SWITCH ON THE VEHICLE THAT I HAD JUST PURCHASED AND BELIEVED THAT I HAD TURNED ON THE LIGHTS OF MY VEHICLE. IN REALITY I WAS DRIVING WITH THE TAILLIGHTS OFF BECAUSE THE LIGHT SWITCH WAS IN THE "DLR" POSITION. (THE LIGHT SWITCH IS BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL WITH SMALL LETTERS THAT CAN'T BE READ IN THE DARK). THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THE TAILLIGHTS ARE OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS IN THIS POSITION. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON AS WELL AS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATION. SINCE THEN I HAVE SEEN THE SAME VEHICLE / MODEL YEAR DRIVING WITHOUT TAILLIGHTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN APPROXIMATELY 5 OCCASIONS. I BELIEVE THAT SOONER OR LATER THIS DESIGN FLAW WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS. *TR

TOYOTA REDESIGNED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WENT FROM A SINGLE CLEAR COVER ANGLED TOWARDS THE FRONT TO 2 SEPARATE INSTRUMENT COVERS ANGLED TOWARDS THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. THE DESIGN OF THESE COVERS RESULTS IN EXTREME REFLECTIONS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER DURING MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS WHEN THE SUN ENTERS THE VEHICLE FROM THE SIDE. THE REFLECTIONS UNDER THESE CONDITIONS ARE SO EXTREME THAT I CAN'T EVEN SEE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE. TINTING THE WINDOWS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. ON JULY, 03, 2014 I HAD TO GUESS MY SPEED BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER WAS UNREADABLE. I RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET SAYING THAT I WAS GOING AT A SPEED WHICH WOULD MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID A COLLISION. I HAVE DRIVEN OVER 20 DIFFERENT CARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD A SITUATION WHERE I WAS NOT ABLE TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER, EVEN IN MY 1968 OLDSMOBILE. TO MY UNDERSTANDING, A CAR MANUFACTURER HAS TO DESIGN THE SPEEDOMETER THE WAY THAT IT CAN BE READ UNDER ANY CONDITIONS WHICH IS POSSIBLE. IT APPEARS THAT TOYOTA'S ENGINEERS TOTALLY NEGLECTED THE PROBLEM OF SUNLIGHT REFLECTIONS WHEN DESIGNING THE 2014 COROLLA INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR

AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR LESS THAN 200 MILES OF BEING RECEIVED FROM DEALERSHIP FOR A DEFECTIVE CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, DIFFICULTIES TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED, TRYING TO DO SO CAUSED IT TO PULL THE OPPOSITE DURING A SUBURBAN TRIP IN A HIGH SPEED WAY, SO HAD TO BE DRIVEN TO A SAFER PLACE, (GETTING WORSE RAPIDLY), AND MAKING CLUNKING METALLIC NOISES ON THE FRONT END WHEN TURNING AT CORNERS AND BRAKING, AND A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED (APPEARED AT THE SAME TIME AND AS SUDDEN AS THE STEERING SITUATION) TO A FULL STOP OR FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO A SUDDEN LOWER ONE DUE TO CONGESTION. ALL THIS HAPPENED TO APPEAR ON THIS LAST TRIP. HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. CONDITION SHOWED UP DURING A CONTINUOUS RAINY CONDITION, PERCEIVED LIKE A TOTAL LOSS OF FRONT END ALIGNMENT, PLUS THE NOISES. AS OF THE WRITING OF THIS MESSAGE, JUST A FEW HOURS HAVE PASSED AFTER THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, BUT BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS "COLLISION SITUATION " EXPERIENCED, DUE THE SPEED OF THE HIGHWAY IN WHICH THIS CONDITION SUDDENLY APPEARED (NOTHING WARNED ABOUT SOMETHING WRONG GOING BEFORE) IS THIS REPORT BEING SENT. MAYBE CAUSED BY OR RELATED TO THE PROCEDURE EXECUTED DURING THE PREVIOUS CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, (MY OPINION) HAS NOT YET BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
