TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL UPON APPROACHING A STOP SIGN; THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SWERVED THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND HIT A POLE. DESPITE HITTING THE POLE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND HIT ANOTHER POLE, WHICH FINALLY CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HALT. THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG AS WELL AS THE KNEE AIR BAG DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT WITH THE FIRST POLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED SORENESS THROUGHOUT HER BODY AND HAD A MINOR CUT ON HER LIP, LEFT INDEX FINGER, AND RIGHT KNEE CAP. THE CONTACT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR HER INJURIES. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE BELIEVES THE VEHICLE SHALL BE DEEMED TOTAL LOSS HOWEVER, WAS AWAITING INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED TO A TOW YARD. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION. MY WIFE WAS PULLING AROUND OUR CUL-DU-SAC TO GO TO THE STORE, WHEN HER 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA SPORT ACCELERATED OUT-OF-CONTROL. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK TO OUR DRIVEWAY AND INTO THE GARAGE BY PUTTING HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE. THE ENGINE WAS CONTINUING TO REV AT A VERY HIGH SPEED. HAVE CALL INTO TOYOTA DEALER, BUT DO WANT TO DRIVE IT FOR SAFETY REASONS. I JUS STARTED IT IN PARK, AND IT IMMEDIATELY REVVED TO OVER 4000 RPM.

DOLAN TOYOTA SCION INFORMED ME THAT MY BRAKE CALIPER WAS LEAKING--I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ASSEMBLY CYLINDER-- IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I NEEDED NEW PADS AND THE ROTORS TO BE RESURFACED. THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE I HAD TO HAVE THEM REPAIR IT. TOTAL BILL: $794.01. THE ISSUE IS WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? SEVERAL MECHANICS AND EVEN THE SERVICE MANAGER AT DOLAN AGREED THAT THIS WAS A RARE EVENT ON A CAR WITH 35651 MILES. IT POINTS TO A DEFECTIVE PART OR A PROBLEM IN THE MANUFACTURING/ASSEMBLY PROCESS. THE WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT ON THIS VEHICLE, BUT I THINK TOYOTA SHOULD ACCEPT SOME RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS CASE. THEY SOLD ME A CAR WITH DEFECTIVE BRAKES THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. CONTINUING PROBLEM WHEN FOOT IS ON BRAKE PEDAL AND HIT A BUMP IN ROAD, GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATION SENSATION IN PEDAL. TOYOTA DEALER SAYS BRAKES ARE OK. TODAY THIS HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME THE GRINDING NOISE WAS PRONOUNCED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT BRAKE - FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND BARELY STOPPED IN TIME BEFORE ALMOST REAR ENDING CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON LINE OF THE SAME PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING MY NORMAL COMMUTE TO WORK YESTERDAY (JUNE 6, 2019), HEADING WEST ON BROWARD BLVD AT ABOUT 45 MPH. I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, SO I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AS USUAL...EXCEPT NOTHING HAPPENED!! I'M NOT SURE IF IT EVEN SLOWED AT ALL BECAUSE I WAS PANICKING SINCE THERE WAS NOWHERE TO GO. I PRESSED DOWN HARDER, AND STILL NOTHING! SO, I KNEW I WAS GOING TO IMPACT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, AND I DID. I WAS SO CONFUSED. IT WAS THE SCARIEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! NOT ONLY THAT. NOW, MY RIGHT LEG IS SORE FROM BRAKING SO HARD, AND MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. SO, MY INSURANCE COMPANY MAY DECLARE MY CAR A TOTAL LOSS. I'M SO FRUSTRATED AND UPSET. I'M JUST HAPPY THAT THE PERSON I HIT WAS OKAY WITH NO INJURIES. My 2016 Toyota Corolla suddenly showed a Check Engine light, and the dealer diagnosed a CVT transmission failure with code P2757. This code is linked directly to Toyota’s own TSB T-SB-0150-16 for torque converter clutch/valve-body failure. The dealer confirmed the issue and quoted me $11K to fix it. This is frightening because a failing transmission can slip, hesitate, or lose power at any moment, which puts me and others at risk. There were no early warning signs, just the sudden light. I brought it in immediately, and the problem was fully reproduced and documented by Toyota. My car is available for inspection whenever needed. Toyota corporate reviewed my case but offered very little help since my vehicle is just outside the 7-year timeframe for CA. I bought the extended warranty when the car was brand new. I have done every single service at Toyota, always on time, and my car has never been in an accident. I’ve taken care of it exactly the way Toyota told me to. This is not normal wear. This is a documented defect that puts drivers at risk and places an enormous financial burden on owners who did everything right. I’m filing this complaint because people deserve protection, accountability, and fairness, especially when a safety-related failure happens in a well-maintained vehicle. I’m only [XXX] , and I expected to own many more Toyotas throughout my life. My whole family drives Toyotas. I grew up believing this brand meant safety, reliability, and loyalty in both directions. I honestly wanted to be a Toyota driver for life. But facing an $11K repair for a known issue that Toyota already acknowledged in a TSB—without meaningful support—has broken my trust in a way I never expected. TRANSMISSION IS CLUNKING AND IT SEEMS LIKE AN EXTREMELY ROUGH DOWNSHIFTING MOSTLY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND IT ACTUALLY SOUNDS AND FEELS AS THOUGH YOU'VE HIT SOMETHING ON THE ROAD EVEN THOUGH ROAD WAS CLEAR. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IF IT COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. WHEN I LAST BROUGHT IT TO DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE THEY PUT ON THE VEHICLE REPORT THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BLACK AND WHEN I ASKED WHAT SHOULD BE DONE THE SERVICE ADVISER DIDN'T TEXT BACK. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE SLIPPING MORE OFTEN AND I ESTIMATE THE CLUNKING AND STRANGE NOISE HAS HAPPENED 10-15 TIMES AT LEAST. IT IS NERVE WRACKING WHEN IT OCCURS BECAUSE IT IS SCARY TO FEEL THAT WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY.

ALSO ON UPHILL ROADS FROM A STAND STILL THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND MAKES A LOUD NOISE WITHOUT ACCELERATING OCCASIONALLY. ALSO THERE SEEMS TO BE A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE CAR IN HIGHER SPEEDS OF 40+ AND RUBBER BANDING WHEN IN SLOW LESS THAN 15 MPH.

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he tire had a blowout on the inside of the tire close to the inner rim. No road debris has been experienced on the trip on 71 N from Columbus to Cleveland. The blowout occured at around 10 PM Saturday (5/13/2023) A tire should not have an inner wall rupture unless the tire has a defect. 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA DEFECT. THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ON/OFF SWITCH IS ON THE SAME CONTROL AS THE HEADLIGHTS. THE DLRS TURNS ON BEFORE REACHING THE LOW BEAM SETTING AS YOU TWIST THE CONTROL. THE DLRS ARE ALMOST AS BRIGHT AS THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND UTILIZE THE SAME BULB AT A LOWER WATTAGE. THEY CAN BE MISTAKEN FOR YOUR HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT AND YOU WILL BE DRIVING AROUND WITH NO TAILLIGHTS BECAUSE THE TAILLIGHTS ARE NOT ON WHEN THE SWITCH IS ON THE DLR SETTING. I GOT PULLED OVER BY A COP BECAUSE I HAD NO TAIL LIGHTS ONE NIGHT. THE DEALER HAS NO SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THIS INCOMPETENT DESIGN KILLS SOMEONE. TOYOTA SHOULD FIRE THE ENGINEER BEHIND THIS AND ORDER A RECALL AND AT THE VERY LEAST REWIRE THE DLR SWITCH TO INCLUDE TAILLIGHTS AND BOOST THE WATTAGE ON THE DLR TO LOW BEAM POWER. The wiring inside of the front doors became corroded on two different cars. This resulted in the inability to operate the electric windows of one car. I view this as a safety hazard as the ability to exit the car from the window in an emergency is impaired. Other tasks such as paying tolls is made risky as the door must be opened.

AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR, WE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT SPEAKERS WERE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. IT WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY AT THE FACTORY. THE ELECTRICAL SPEAKER CONTACTS WERE POINTED UPWARDS WHICH EFFECTIVELY DAMAGED THEM OVER TIME FROM THE MOISTURE ACCUMULATING WITHIN THE FRONT DOORS. BOTH SPEAKERS, PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDES, INDICATING THE WIRING ERROR. BOTH WERE REPLACED BY THE SHOP AND AT THEIR SUGGESTION, I AM ALERTING YOU TO THE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,500.

I own a 2016 Toyota Corolla with 35000 miles. My extended warranty expired in January 2024. In the the last few months my Toyota developed a “rattle” or noise, primarily on the right side at slow speeds and slow turns. I took the car to a well respected and nearby repair facility for an oil change and had them look at the noise. They found that the control arm bushings had stress cracks and the sway bar end links and mount bushings were leaking. I had the repairs done. The defective parts are documented with photos in the electronic version of the repair invoice. The noise came back in a day. The next step would be replacing the struts. The repair shop found no visible wear or damage to the struts. I already spent $2400 on repairs. The noise remains. The damage to the parts most likely started long before the warranty expired in January. I found a Technical Service Bulletin describing the repair for this noise issue. The repair described specifies replacing the control arms. I did that in the above described repair. There are many upset consumers complaining in Internet forums about the same problem in 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla’s. I contacted Toyota customer service by email. They told me there was nothing they could do about the problem since the warranty expired 5 years after purchasing the car. I told them I have an 8 year extended warranty. They insisted that there was no 8 year warranty. I offered to send them proof. I have the same problem as shown below. I replaced the control arms and stabilizer bar links. They appeared to be failing. There are many more pages on the internet with the same problem. I reported this to Toyota. I SHOWED THIS TO TOYOTA SERVICE ON DECEMBER 2019 WHEN FIRST STARTED BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. THEN SHOWED IT TO DIFFERENT TOYOTA SERVICES IN 2020, AND THEY COULDN'T FIND IT EITHER. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SUSPENSION SPRINGS, SO I REPLACED IT BUT STILL THE SQUEAKY NOISE WASN'T RESOLVED. RECENTLY I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND I FOUND THE ATTACHED BULLETIN, BUT THE TOYOTA SERVICE WORKERS NEVER SEEN THIS AND TOYOTA NEVER INFORMED ME OF THE BULLETIN. I NOTICED A SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA LE. I INITIALLY TOOK IT IN TO SEE WHERE THE SOUND WAS STEMMING FROM THE MECHANIC AT TOYOTA STATED THAT THE SOUND WAS NORMAL AND NO NEED TO HAVE CONCERN ABOUT THE NOISE IT WAS NORMAL WITHIN THESE MODELS OF COROLLAS. I LET THE DEALERSHIP WITH RELIEF BUT AS I DROVE BACK THE NOISE WAS LOUDER , SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN TO THE SAME SHOP LUTHER BROOKDALE TOYOTA WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THE SOUND WAS NORMAL BUT THIS TIME THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THEY REPLACE THE STRUTS AND ALONG WITH THE STRUT MOUNTS. HE STATED THIS WOULD ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM AND THE SOUND WOULD GO AWAY BECAUSE HE AGREED THAT THE FRONT END SUSPENSION WAS INDEED FAULTY (HENCE). THAT'S WHY HE REPLACED THE STRUTS ALONG WITH THE MOUNTS. UPON REPLACING THE PART OF THE SUSPENSION THE SOUND PERSISTED. NOW BROOKDALE WHERE I WENT INITIALLY STATED THEY WHERE NO LONGER ABLE TO HELP ME WITH THE ISSUES KEEP IN MY THE CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, SO I WENT TO WALSER TOYOTA WHERE THEY KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR OVER A WEEK TRYING TO REPAIR AND GET RID OF THE SOUND MY VEHICLE WAS MAKING AFTER THAT WEEK I WAS TOLD THEY CALLED A TOYOTA SPECIALIST OVER THE PHONE PLUS AFTER A WEEK I WAS TOLD THE SOUND WAS NORMAL NO FURTHER WORK NEEDED TO BE DONE I INQUIRED IF THE REP FROM TOYOTA HEARD THE SOUND OVER THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE THE TECH AT WALSER TOYOTA STATED YES HE HEARD THE SOUND OVER THE PHONE I WAS SHOCKED HOW CAN YOU DEEM A SOUND NORMAL VIA TELEPHONE , NOT HAPPY WITH THIS I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY RECOMMENDED I HAVE MY FRONT REPLACED I HAVE A PRINT OUT OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS AT THIS POINT I FEEL MY SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY IS AT STAKE.

Car began with issues switching gears. It would hesitate to go into gear and once it was finally in gear it began to buck. Currently stationed overseas And brought my car to Toyota multiple times and was told they wouldn’t look at it since it’s an American spec Toyota and not a European. After a week of trying to get it fixed with no luck the vehicle began getting worse and wasn’t able to go above 35 miles an hour. Finally the check engine light came on. Brought it into a local mechanic and a P 2820 J code was the issue. After researching online I found that Toyota had a service campaign for the same issues I was having. The problem is with the ECU and the cars solenoid. Currently trying to get it repaired but Toyota will not help since I’m stationed overseas in europe and it’s an American Toyota. Toyota USA has been little to no help with the issue so I have had to stop driving the vehicle since it’s a safety hazard to my family.

THE WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY DARKENED FROM THE TOP TO ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN ( RIGHT IN YOUR LINE OF VISION). THIS HAPPENED AT NIGHT , INCLUDING DURING A RAINSTORM. IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING IN A DARK CAVE OR A PLACE WHERE YOUR VISIBILITY IS HINDERED. IT APPEARS THAT THE TINTING OF THE WINDSHIELD IS TOO DARK. DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CAPTURES THE GLARE OFF THE DASH. EVERY DETAIL OF THE DASH (VENTS, GROOVES, ETC) IS CLEARLY REFLECTED ONTO THE GLASS BECAUSE OF THE GLASS ANGLE AND THE SLIGHTLY REFLECTIVE NATURE OF THE MATERIAL USED IN THE DASH ITSELF. THE REFLECTION MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE ANYTHING AHEAD. FOR EXAMPLE, I DIDN'T EVEN SEE A DEER STANDING AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL AFTER I HAD PASSED IT. I BOUGHT SOME BLACK FELT FROM THE FABRIC STORE AND PLACED IT ACROSS THE ENTIRE DASH. THIS WORKS, HOWEVER, I NEED TO KEEP THE VENTS UNCOVERED, SO THAT ASPECT OF THE DASH REFECTION IS STILL OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RECALL MATERIAL, BUT IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND ALL OWNERS SHOULD RECEIVE A CUSTOM DASH MAT DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS DASHBOARD.

FRONT AND REAR WINDSHIELDS BOTH DISTORTED/DEFECTIVE. LIKE LOOKING THROUGH FUNHOUSE MIRROR GLASS. THE FRONT MAKES THINGS CLOSER AND LARGER AND VERY WAVY FROM MY VISUAL PERSPECTIVE STARTING AT ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN THE WINDSHIELD AND CONTINUING TO THE RIGHT (TO THE PASSENGER SIDE). IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT MAKES IT APPEAR THAT LARGE TRUCKS OR GUARDRAILS ARE COMING AT YOU CLOSER THAN THEY ARE. ONE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TRY TO COMPENSATE WHILE DRIVING FOR AN "OPTICAL ILLUSION" AS I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO SAW THE DEFECT IN MY GLASS AND SAID THAT "HOPEFULLY I WOULD ADJUST". WHEN DRIVING, ONE NEEDS TO FOCUS ON DRIVING, NOT HAVING TO TELL THEMSELVES THAT THEY SHOULD NOT SWERVE BECAUSE SOMETHING IS REALLY NOT THAT CLOSE. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT I HAVE NOT SEEN IN ANY OF MY 26 YEARS OF DRIVING (OR IN EITHER OF THE OTHER 2 COROLLAS THAT I HAVE OWNED). THE REAR WINDSHIELD IS COMPLETELY BLURRY AND DISTORTED ESPECIALLY BETWEEN THE LINES OF THE DEFROSTER. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ISSUE IS FAR WORSE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THINGS ARE MOVING QUICKLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LONGO TOYOTA (3534 N, PECK RD, EL MONTE, CA 91731) WHERE IT HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND AN INVESTIGATOR WAS SENT OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE INVESTIGATION DETERMINED THE BRAKES WERE NEVER APPLIED PRIOR TO THE COLLISION. THE CONTACT DISPUTED THAT REPORT AND STATED THAT MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD BEEN PLACED UNDER NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:20V024000 (AIR BAG). THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,473.

I WAS DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT 10-15MPH. A CAR WAS WAITING TO TURN AT A STOP SIGN 200 FEET AHEAD. THE ROAD HAD MILD SNOW AND ICE AND WAS ON A 20 DEGREE SLOPE, SO I STEPPED GENTLY ON THE BRAKE. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE CAR. I STEPPED OFF THE BRAKE AND STEPPED DOWN A LITTLE HARDER. THERE WAS MILD RESPONSE. I CONTINUED PUSHING ON THE BRAKE, AND WAS ABLE TO PUSH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR DID NOT STOP. 50 FEET BEFORE COLLISION, I ATTEMPTED TURNING THE WHEEL TO GET OUT OF THE WAY, BUT THE CAR ONLY SHIFTED 3 FEET BEFORE I COLLIDED WITH THE FRONT CAR. 50 MINUTES AFTER THE INCIDENT, I WAS DRIVING THE SAME CAR HOME AT 25MPH. THE CITY STREET WAS FLAT AND STRAIGHT, AND THERE WAS MILD SNOW AND ICE. A CAR WAS TURNING RIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION 250 FT AHEAD. THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHEN ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. IT WOULD NOT EXCEED 45 MILES PER HOUR. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AS THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY ISSUED A SERVICE CAMPAIGN BULLETIN TO ADDRESS THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE SINCE SUSPENDED THE RECALL LEAVING DRIVERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AT RISK. THE ONLY APPARENT SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $9200 WHICH MAY BE WHY TOYOTA IS HESITATING ON ISSUING A PROPER RECALL. UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT HAVE $9200 SO THE CAR REMAINS UNDRIVEABLE.

TAKATA RECALL, I WAS DRIVING HOME IN STOP IN GO TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY AND THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME SPEED UP. ONCE I ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 20-25 MILES AN HOUR THE TRUCK STOPPED, I SAW IT AND TRIED TO STOP BUT BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. TAKATA RECALL. I WAS RECENTLY IN AN ACCIDENT ON FRIDAY 6/15. I WAS REAR ENDED BY A FORD EXPLORER GOING 60 MILES PER HOUR WHILE I WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON I495. THIS COLLISION CAUSED ME TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH CAUSED ME TO SLAM MY HEAD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A REPORT OF BRAKE FAILURE THAT CAUSED A VEHICLE COLLISION WITH INJURIES. ON OCTOBER 29, 2016, I RENTED A 2016 TOYOTA COROLLA FROM A BETTERWAY RENT-ACAR, INC. D/BA BUDGET RENT A CAR OF ATLANTA, AT 6509 ROSWELL RD, ATLANTA, GA 30328. THE TOYOTA HAD 21,619 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE RENTAL. AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30PM I WAS DRIVING SOUTHEAST ON JIMMY CARTER BLVD IN NORCROSS GEORGIA. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND SUNNY AND THE ROAD WAS DRY. UPON DEPARTING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH IN MODERATE TRAFFIC TOWARDS VEHICLES WAITING AT THE INTERSECTION OF JIMMY CARTER BLVD AND ROCKBRIDGE SCHOOL ROAD ONE BLOCK AWAY. I BEGAN APPLYING THE BRAKES LONG BEFORE REACHING THE VEHICLES WAITING AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION, HOWEVER THE CAR'S BRAKE ACTION WAS MINIMAL. AS I COMPLETELY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND SIMILAR TO THE ENGAGEMENT OF AN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS), HOWEVER THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DECELERATION. WHEN I FULLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, I DID NOT HEAR AN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPM, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DID NOT DOWNSHIFT, AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. AS A RESULT OF THE TOYOTA'S BRAKE FAILURE, I IMPACTED A STATIONARY VEHICLE AT THE INTERSECTION OF JIMMY CARTER BLVD AND ROCKBRIDGE SCHOOL ROAD. THE TOYOTA'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. The driver seat belt dont work and once in a great while it will work but even whenever it does latch it still shows the seat belt isn't on and that noise keeps going off but after a while the noise goes off but the symbol is still on the dash board. I recently got hit from behind (09/15/2025) at a red light and no air bags deployed. Im not sure if they were suppose to deploy but either way my seat belt dont work. And I know this isn't a safety matter but my radio doesn't turn off when I turn off my car and I can't lock/unlock my doors with the key fob I have to lock it with the key on the driver door. I have to take the fuse out for the radio so my battery won't die and so the radio turns off.

12/09/2019, The ECU did not have adequate protection against certain electrical noise that occurred during the collision. Airbags did not deploy in the event of under ride collision, a freak accident involving wildlife crossing the street. Seat belt pretensioners did not engage. I called Allstate insurance that same day. Had I not worn my seat belt, I might have gone through the windshield. Safety was in danger, and not protected. Meineke informed me the oil housing component, fused onto the component that allows for an oil change because it was made with a plastic material, that is an incorrect material, Oxygen sensor lit up after that finding. Vehicle is not available for inspection upon request. Tyler Law Enforcement might have inspected the vehicle in general. My VIN for my vehicle does not describe the style of my vehicle, which is a 2016 Toyota Carolla Sport, Red.

One problem complies with Toyota Technical Service Bulletin. Noise continues. The electronic invoice has photos of worn parts. Euro Car Doctor documents concern. I do not trust the local Toyota dealer service department to properly inspect the vehicle.

I was exiting a freeway offramp and as I was turning at a speed of approximately 35 mph, I had both hands on the steering wheel and full control, but the actual car wheels disengaged from the steering. The car went in a different direction than the steering wheel and hit a wall. I was able to reverse. But, as I kept driving, the steering wheel was not controlling the car wheels correctly. When I would turn the steering wheel, the car's wheels wouldn't obey.

I DROVE TO TOYOTA ARLINGTON FOR TIRE ROTATION ON 2/4/21 AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. ODOMETER WAS 44091 MILES. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, I DROVE ABOUT A MILE THEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE CAR COULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5 MPH. THE CAR JERK UP AND DOWN AS IF I DROVE ON THE RAIL ROAD TRACKS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRAC OFF AND RED STEERING WHEEL SYMBOL LIT UP BUT NOT FLASHING. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER RIGHT AWAY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, THE ATTENDANT TURNED IT BACK ON. THE CHECK ENGINE, TRACK OFF AND STEERING SYMBOLS WERE OFF. THE CODE WAS NOT SAVED, SO ON 2/8/21 THE INDEPENDENT SHOP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (44132 MILES). ON 2/12/21 THE SAME SYMPTOMS CAME BACK AT 44175 MILES. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING, TRACK OFF LIGHT AND STEERING WHEEL SYMBOLS CAME ON BUT NOT FLASHING. MY WIFE TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN TURNED IT ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF BUT THE TRAC OFF LIGHT REMAINED ON. IN THE PAST, AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT ON ONE CLICK, THE SYMBOLS WERE ON, AND WHEN THE IGNITION TURNED ON, THE SYMBOLS WERE OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR ALSO SMELL LIKE A BURNING TIRE. WE WERE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH ON LANE NUMBER 1 (NEXT TO YELLOW LINES MEDIAN) ON A COUNTY 4 LANES HIGHWAY. THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 5 MPH, JERK UP AND DOWN AND THE CAR VIBRATES AND IT HAPPENED TWICE IN A WEEK. THE CAR IS ONLY 4.5 YEARS OLD AND ONLY 44175 MILES. I recently 6 weeks ago bought a used certified 2016 Toyota Corolla with 43,000 miles. I have been going back and forth with Toyota since the day after I bought it about the many mechanical issues that pose a major safety risk. The car shudders/vibrates when accelerating, knocks when backing up. And when making turns the car shifts hard side to side with a shudder and wobble in floor board of car. It feels as if you don’t have control of the vehicle when driving. It has lots of loose play in the front end and steering really the whole car. It also has a problem going up hill and jumping on fwy a major problem accelerating. They keep telling me car is working per design but this is a lie. I have taken it to 2 other mechanics who told me this car has major issues safety ones to take it back. Toyota fixed the control arms stating that might be what it is but the same problems remain. I am afraid to drive this vehicle and they refuse to figure out the problems and fix them. 2 days after buying it I told them take the car back it has too many mechanical issues they refused. I don’t know what to do I cannot continue driving this car like this and in the rain it could barely handle also. The car has a feeling of loss of control like the whole frame of car is loose. I need help and don’t know what else to do I’ve taken the car back to them about 15 times. They continue to lie and say nothing is wrong even though when I test drove it with the head mechanic. He admitted the car has major issues but told me he did not want to get involved and I would have to take it up with management. I traded in my 2011 suv that was in good working order to buy this smaller car so my daughter could also learn to drive. They should have never sold this vehicle with this many mechanical safety issues please help.

We own a 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport model. 4 door sedan. We first started to notice a loud sound that was seemingly coming from the front of the car. It was a whining, rattling sound. The car's mileage is 87k. We took it into the shop, we were first told that it sounded like a bearing going out in the wheel. Then we took it to a licensed Toyota dealership. The dealership then tells us that it is actually due to the transmission chain, and our transmission will need to be replaced for $8900!! So I begin to dig online, and find that our model is the same years of other Toyota models that Toyota has a KNOWN problem with. This is a major issue, and puts our safety at risk if the transmission just suddenly goes out. The Toyota dealership has confirmed that we have an issue, and are saying that the transmission MUST be replaced, effectively decommissioning our work commuter vehicle until we can get this sorted. It was diagnosed by a licensed Toyota technician, but it can be inspected by a insurance rep/mechanic upon request. There were no warnings, no lamps, no codes. We just heard the noise, which is seemingly getting worse and louder. Which appeared about 7/15/24. The car has had it's routine maintenance done per the manufacturers specifications. The fluids are routinely checked, and it is taken in to a Toyota dealership for it's servicing, with certified maintenance records. It was never noted on oil changes that this was an issue, or that the transmission fluid was ever an issue. We do not drive this car hard, we do not abuse it. It is our commuter. And now we are looking at having to replace the transmission for essentially the same cost as the car itself.

I have been driving my car since 2016, however since Nov 24, 2023. Incidents that alarm me have happen. I have filed a police report but don't have the funds to get vehicle swept. All of these events occur while I am driving. Passenger windows goes up in and down a lot. Static in my speakers. Steering wheels lock. somethings draining my battery. though I have ensured nothings on or there isn't any short fuses. Doors unlock. Door beeps though someone has had access. Trunk pops open. I am reaching out to NHTSA because my safety is at risk. Is any other Corolla owners reporting this. Please assist me.

Toyota has installed several parts on my 2016 corolla that were previous years' parts. In previous complaints, the tires (under 11,000 miles) started to dry rot. When filing the warranty repair, the dealerships and Toyota tried to claim that it was normal. After deep investigation, it was found that the tires were actually over a YEAR older than the release of the vehicle. The tire warranty started when they were sold to Toyota, not when the car was purchased. They did the same thing on Air intake components for the Air filter system for the car. This is the 3rd issue. Since I purchased the lease in 2016. The car constantly had a check engine light. Typically, it was suggested it was a "gas cap pressure check failure". But at all of the routine inspections and services. Dealerships never did anything but clear the code and keep going. I recently went back in to do a "smoke check" as I was getting tired of the code constantly pulling the check engine light. Now, supposedly, it's the Charcol canister. Ironically enough, Toyota had a recall on those items in 2015. I'm suspecting that this part if from that recall part, as it's been an issue (within service notes) to be checked since 2016 and was never suggested or further deep dive into the issue was never done. Now that the warranty is over, I'm supposed to pay another $800+ for the service parts and labor. Which Toyota should be liable for, as I KEPT taking the care to the dealership for warranty service, yet these checks were never done. When the service is underway, I would suggest sending this part to the NHTSA to investigate the old recalled parts are in fact being installed on newer vehicles. As this would be the 3rd item that was from other older models that mysteriously appeared on my 2016 model corolla.

We discovered that there was an explosion of some sort inside the car on the passenger side, which seems to have potentially involve the air bag system and/or electrical around the system, but this is not entirely known. The car was parked at the time and had not been driven for approximately 65 hours. It appears there was a fire but we did not witness. The dash is melted leaving a gaping hole, what appears to be portions of the air bag are partially disintegrated and stuck to the ceiling, the ceiling is charred, the sun visor is melted and distorted, and hanging down, underneath the dash is also melted, and the smell in the car is absolutely stifling. The windshield is shattered in one spot, with additional cracks stemming from that point of contact. The windshield is damaged from the impact from inside the car and is pushing out. The car was locked, there is no evidence of forced entry or attempted forced entry. It has never been in a collision. The car was parked three feet away from our motorhome in the confines of our RV spot at an asphalt campground. The safety of all in the area was at risk, and furthermore, since this explosion was unprovoked, if we had been in the car at the time, it's unimaginable as to what sort of bodily damage the passengers, especially the passenger seat occupant, would have incurred. I do not believe the problem can be reproduced, but the car has yet to be inspected. I am currently awaiting insurance to take the car via tow truck to inspect it. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms.

TRAC OFF, CHECK ENGINE, AND MAINTENANCE REQUIRED LIGHTS SUDDENLY APPEARED WHILE THE COROLLA WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A STATE ROAD. THE CAR HAD JUST PASSED ITS 20,000 WARRANTY CHECK WITH NO PROBLEMS. I WAS ON THE WAY TO A REGULARLY SCHEDULED ONCOLOGY APPOINTMENT. I HAD TO CANCEL THE APPOINTMENT AND DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. TECHNICIANS DETERMINED A RODENT HAD CHEWED THROUGH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL HARNESS. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY ANY TOYOTA WARRANTY. SO FAR, I'VE BEEN FORCED TO SPEND NEARLY $1,000 ON RODENT-RELATED REPAIRS. I HAVE STAGE IV CANCER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR EXPRESSLY TO HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO CANCER TREATMENTS, MOST OF WHICH ARE OUT OF STATE. I CAN'T AFFORD THESE RAT-RELATED REPAIRS. LETTERS AND PHONE CALLS TO TOYOTA HAVE PROVED FUTILE AND FRUSTRATING. THE RATS ARE CONSIDERED BY THE CORPORATION AS AN OUTSIDE SOURCE, AND THEREFORE, NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. THE "OUTSIDE SOURCE" IS THE SOY THAT WAS STUPIDLY USED TO MAKE THE INSULATION PROTECTING THE ENGINE'S ELECTRICAL WIRING, CRISSCROSSING THE ENGINE. I HAD A 1991 TOYOTA THAT I PARKED IN THE SAME UNPROTECTED, DRIVEWAY SPOT FOR NEARLY 25 YEARS WHERE THE NEWER COROLLA IS NOW PARKED. THERE WERE NO RODENT ISSUES WHATSOEVER. SAME FOR A 1991 JEEP WRANGLER. DITTO A 1997 BUICK LASABRE. THE ONLY CAR BEING EATEN BY MICE AND RATS IS THE NEWEST CAR--THE 2016 COROLLA WITH SOY-BASED WIRING. SOY IS A FOOD SOURCE. I KNOW. I GREW UP ON A FARM AND WE FED IT TO OUR COWS AS A PROTEIN SOURCE. I NEED A RELIABLE, ECONOMICAL CAR TO GET TO LIFESAVING CANCER TREATMENTS. THIS CAR ISN'T IT. TOYOTA COULD CARE LESS. ON 08/07/2018, I WAS IN A CAR (2016 TOYOTA COROLLA) ACCIDENT WHERE ANOTHER CAR SLAMMED ME IN THE REAR AND I'VE HIT A CHEVY PICKUP IN THE BACK. MY SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE. SHORTLY AFTER THAT MY STEERING WHEEL CONTINUALLY CLICKS WHEN I TURN IT. AND WITHIN THE SAME DAY NOW MY HORN STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AS ALL OF THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER WORK INCLUDING THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE LIGHT NEVER WENT AWAY AND THE FUNCTIONS OF THE STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER WORK WHEN THERE IS NO CAUSE OR REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.

ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 30TH 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00PM I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 459 NORTH IN THE FAR-RIGHT LANE AND HIT A LARGE POTHOLE ABOUT 150 YARDS BEFORE I-65 OVERPASS. AFTER SWERVING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND CALLED TOYOTA CARE (ROADSERVICE). THE EVENT I EXPERIENCE CAUSED A BENT WHEEL RIM AND FLAT TIRE. I AM REQUESTING A REIMBURSEMENT OF MY COST TO REPLACE MY WHEEL RIM AND TIRE. THE POTHOLES WERE FILLED BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES ON SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 3RE 2017.

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM A CONCERT AT 10:30 PM ON THE 110 FREEWAY IN SAN PEDRO, CA WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD CRASH ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. WE HADN'T JUST DRIVEN UNDER AN OVERPASS. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS BEHIND US. NO ONE WAS SWERVING OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID ANYTHING. NO ONE WHO DROVE PASSED US REACTED AT ALL. WE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD HIT US AND KEPT HEARING GLASS MOVING AROUND. AT ONE POINT MY HUSBAND OPENED THE SUNROOF SLIGHTLY AND SAW A GAPING HOLE IN THE GLASS ALONG WITH GLASS SHARDS THAT STARTED FALLING INTO THE CAR. WHEN WE GOT HOME I LOOKED UP "EXPLODING SUN ROOFS" AND FOUND THAT SPONTANEOUS EXPLOSION WAS NOT UNCOMMON AND THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FORMING AND PEOPLE REPORTED THEIR EXPERIENCES TO YOU. I WAS MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. THE INDIVIDUAL BEHIND ME WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION AND DID NOT STOP. INSTEAD OF SWERVING TO THE RIGHT TO MISS ME, SHE SWERVED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE JUST AS I WAS TURNING LEFT. HER GMC 2500 HEAVY DUTY PICK-UP IMPACTED MY CAR AT THE DRIVER DOOR, FRONT PILLAR, FRONT FENDER.THE IMPACT PUSHED MY CAR OVER 30 FT DOWN THE ROAD BEFORE PUSHING MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 20 FT OFF THE ROAD, UP A SLIGHT HILL. IN THIS IMPACT, NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE STATE TROOPER AT THE SCENE, THE INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARE ALL STUNNED BY THIS FACT. IN THIS ACCIDENT MY HEAD HIT THE PILLAR NEXT TO MY DOOR CAUSING ME TO BE KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS, GIVING ME A CONCUSSION AND CAUSING A HEAD LACERATION REQUIRING STAPLES IN MY HEAD. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THE CARTRIDGE IN THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY DID NOT DEPLOY AND MY COLLAR BONE WAS BROKEN AS WELL. MY CAR WAS GOING ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR AT THE MOMENT OF IMPACT. I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC PRIOR TO MAKING THE LEFT-HAND TURN. IN ADDITION, I DID HAVE A PROGRESSIVE SNAP-SHOT INSTALLED IN THE CAR.
