The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while at a stoplight, an Audi truck crashed into the rear of the vehicle, allegedly due to being distracted by a cell phone. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained broken bones, whiplash, chest injuries, and a broken toe; her knee was swollen, and she had head, neck, and foot injuries. and medical attention was provided. There was no reported fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The frame and fuel tank were bent. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who confirmed no recalls. Six months after the failure, the vehicle was taken to the same dealer who repaired the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V024000 (Air Bags). The contact believed that the vehicle was sold with an open recall. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 9,800.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I was driving for work and got into a pretty bad accident and the airbags did not deploy. I am not sure if it was because the airbag recall I got fixed back in 2020 or it was because the damages weren’t enough to deploy the airbags.

Paints are chipping off from the interior of the car to the exterior of the car . It's doors and trucks. I filed my 1st complaint with Toyota back in 2023. I filed another complaint on 6/25/2 5 and looks like I'm the only one with a blue Corolla that have paints chipping off from doors to trunk. I just want to make sure that Toyota is aware of this paint issue on their blue Corolla SE 4 door sedan. I know for sure Toyota had a paint issue with their white Toyota Corolla. I take my car to Toyota dealer for all my maintenance. Also, I am loyal Toyota customer. I've been purchasing their vehicle since 2005 with my 1st mini Van (Sienna). I just hope Toyota values their loyal customer.

2017 Toyota Corolla SE was bought new. Original Blizzard Pearl paint under recall program. Paint has peeled in "spots" all over car. Toyota fixed "spots" in August 2021, then again in June 2024. Since then, more spots have appeared. Toyota in Mt. Vernon, IL refuses to fix "spots" anymore since Nov 2024. Toyota has paint peeling recall program for 2009-2018 Toyota Corolla which was extended up to 14 years to address the peeling issue which was attributed to a manufacturing defect. The car should have been repainted from the beginning. Why would they think the paint would stop peeling after fixing spots? I have contacted Toyota Customer Experience Center many times. They said they go by what NHTSA tells them. They gave me your number and I was instructed to fill this form out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a pic of peeling above license plate. There are more pics of peeling which I can provide if need be. Also, there is a pic of the Toyota paint peeling recall program. Mileage is 67,000. Thank you for your time.

I was t-boned by a driver on 5/16/2023. Since this occurred, my vehicle has been repaired. However I have a shake and hoovering noise coming from the front of the vehicle. It has been aligned, tires have been rotated, and suspension has been checked. My mechanic can find no fault. However he has stated that he can feel the shake and can hear the noise. He also says it pulls to the left really hard when accelerating. These issues were not present before my accident. Also my seatbelts on my driver and passenger side were replaced shortly after my accident. I felt like this wasn't checked by the body shop.

Twice within one month my Corolla experienced Sudden Unintended Acceleration. The first time I had just entered the parking lot of my local Star Market. I stopped for a man in the crosswalk and was just about to ease off the break when I saw a woman approaching the crosswalk so I stayed on my break. Suddenty the car revved up and went forward. I think it was so loud the woman heard it and stopped. My car returned to normal operation within maybe five seconds and as I drove by the woman, I yelled there was something wrong. Went home and scheduled an appointment with Toyota. It took a few days for them to check my car. I think this type of issue brings in the next level up of repair. I was told they went over everything and could find nothing wrong. My car was safe to drive. I drove it for exactly one month and it did the same thing. This time I was inching my way into a parking space that was up against a wall. Nowhere near the gas. I was maybe a couple of feet from the wall when the car accelerated again. The engine really revved up again and I went into the wall. The car was drivable, and I got it right back to Toyota. It is still sitting there pending investigation. I am waiting to hear from someone from their liability department. I'm not sure what will happen, but I know I will not drive that car again. My biggest concern is that Toyota will claim I'm elderly and hit the gas, not the brake. That is not what happened.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Recently purchased a used 2017 Toyota Corolla. During the test drive I did not attempt to use the cruise control as it was only driven on city or small highways. Travel with the car at those locations has been good. Yesterday while on a freeway, I used the cruise control. It started out okay, but when I got to a downhill or uphill location, the car engine got very loud. The rpm’s revved to an extremely high level and the car accelerated and kept accelerating beyond the cruise set speed. I became very scared and didn’t know what was happening. Luckily I had quick thinking to hit the brakes immediately. I actually pulled over and stopped due to the issue and my nerves. The engine looked okay so once calmed, I began traveling again. I wanted to use the cruise on the freeway, so attempted a second time later. The same exact thing happened in the uphill / downhill scenario. I realized there is something wrong and it is not a good issue at all! This morning I began researching things related to the car. Prior to my purchase, I had checked for any outstanding recalls (which there were none) and problems people may have had with this car. There were no general concerning things I saw. This morning I began searches specific to cruise control issues and found discussions and even videos pertaining to cruise problems. People mention an array of scenarios and possible reasons such as the brake pedal sensor not working. Then I came across this site where other people described the same exact problem and safety concern of mine. I agree with all of them that it is definitely scary and thank goodness the brake works otherwise it would be a MAJOR safety concern!! I am now concerned and wondering why after many people have problems with this, there is not a fix or something being done?

The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine revved and the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier while turning into a parking space. The contact was not able to depress the brake pedal in time to stop the vehicle. No air bags were deployed. No injury was sustained and no medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was not deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Vehicle went out of control in regards of speed when traveling downhill with cruise control on. Vehicle began heavily decelerating and accelerating along with high engine rpm. This is extremely dangerous and I am unable to use cruise control because of it.

WHEN GOING DOWN HILL, THE CRUISE CONTROL RACES THE ENGINE INTO HIGH RPM (4000+ RPM) RATHER THAN SLOWING THE ENGINE AND CONTROLLING THE CAR SPEED. IT HAS DONE THIS SINCE IT WAS NEW.

WHEN CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, IF IT HITS A LEVEL OR DOWN HILL IT APPEARS TO DOWN SHIFT, BUT CONTINUE TO SPEED UP. IT SHOULD JUST REDUCE THE FUEL TO SLOW DOWN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROGRAM PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS. IT WAS BOUGHT USED FROM A TOYOTA DEALER. I HAVE NOT ASKED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT YET.

My brakes seem to malfunction when engaged after hitting potholes and/or street depressions. This has occurred on Kensington Street east of Church Avenue. This is between Church Avenue and Dale Mabry Highway among other streets. My safety was put at risk as I felt the brakes were not going to hold or stop the vehicle. No, it has not been attempted to be duplicated. When my brakes were inspected, I was told everything was fine. It seemed no one was interested in driving the vehicle over a pothole and/or street depression. Why would it be inspected when a Toyota Dealership and Firestone reported my brakes were fine without duplicating the situation in which I had a problem. No warning lights, lamps, messages. My 2 front tires continually lose air down to 28 and 29 psi from the 32psi. I will be taking the car back to Firestone for them to check the two front tires that I purchased from them. In case something happens to me or others reporting this problem, I wanted proof I informed you of the issue I had. The contact stated the vehicle still makes a grinding noise when brakes are applied during and after rain. Also, the brakes were inspected but that wasn't the problem. Gettel Toyota mechanics stated the vehicle needed struts but instead Toyota replaced the shock absorber. The problem still occurs.

FIRST OCCURED AT 45K, DRIVING HOME ON CITY STREET TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 40MPH WHEN TRAFFIC CAME TO STOP, WENT TO BRAKE AND PEDAL DEPRESSED TO FLOOR AND CAR DID NOT STOP. WAS ABLE TO ENGINE BRAKE AND USING PARKING BRAKE TO SAFETLY STOP. TOWED TO NEAREST SHOP, AND MASTER CYLINDER HAD PREMATURE FAILURE AND REPLACED $500. NOTIFIED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS USA, NO RESOLUTION. ON 3/12/20, DRIVING HOME AND TRAFFIC CAME TO SUDDEN STOP ON 80MPH INTERSTATE TRAVELING STRAIGHT, HIT THE BRAKES AND NOTHING, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. DROVE CAR INTO MEDIAN DITCH WITH ENGINE AND PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED TO AVOID ACCIDENT. LUCKILY NO DAMAGE TO CAR OR PEOPLE, PROPERTY DAMAGE OCCURED. TOWED TO NEAREST SHOP, DIAGNOSED AGAIN WITH MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE, CAR AT 52K MILES NOW, BARELY 8K FROM LAST REPLACEMENT . NOTIFIED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AGAIN WITHOUT RESOLUTION.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE BRAKE SHIM KIT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

I'M A TROOPER WITH THE OREGON STATE POLICE. I COVERED A CRASH TODAY WHERE THE MENTIONED VEHICLE BRAKED FOR THE DRIVER, BUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS NEVER ENGAGED. I SPOKE TO ANOTHER TOYOTA OWNER ON SCENE WHO STATED HIS TOYOTA DOES THE SAME WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BRAKING FOR HIM. THE DRIVER BEHIND THIS TOYOTA WAS ABLE TO STOP IN TIME, BUT I CAN SEE THIS LACK OF BRAKE LIGHTS AS A PROBLEM.

My college son was driving down from Orlando, and when he got here I took his/my car to my mechanic because the AC was not cold. I felt a hard shift when I put it in reverse, and when I started to drive the car to the mechanic, it didn’t feel right. They fixed my AC and I asked him to check the car as I was worried it did not feel safe to drive. They changed all the filters and did a complete transmission flush even though it was not due for 60,000 miles and there is less than 54,000 miles on this vehicle. They changed all the filters and upon doing the transmission flush my mechanic of 15 years found chunks of metal and shavings in the transmission pan. He took pics & told me my transmission was bad but it was an internal defect and I needed to take it to Toyota as there was no damage on the outside of my transmission, it’s pan, gasket or filter and there were no signs of any leak. He told me these CVT transmissions were a problem and there were a lot of ones not recalled, but there was a Special Service Campaign JSD for 1.3 million of these transmissions from Toyota. Toyota said my Vin number was not part of this Special Service Campaign JSD but I found there were also 3400 recalls on the CVT transmissions from the Toyota hatchback. Toyota told me because my car was already out of warranty, even if it was a manufacturing defect, they were not responsible. I take very good care of my cars. I have two Toyota Corollas, both 2017 and now I am very concerned about the other one. I’ve been on a lot of Toyota forums and it seems there are so many other Toyota Corollas that don’t have many miles on them and all of a sudden their transmission has an internal defect. I brought it to the dealership and they simply said it needed to be replaced, that it was hard shifting when going into reverse and banging gears intermediately. They told me if I wanted to know what the defect was I would have to pay at least 15 hrs of labor to start. My son could have been killed driving it

SHIFTING OF TRANSMISSION IN VEHICLE HESITATES AND/OR IS INCONSISTENT UPON SUDDEN ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO DETERMINE THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE VERSUS OTHER CARS ON A BUSY STREET. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INSTANCES IN WHICH THE CAR IS NOT SHIFTING APPROPRIATELY AND I AM UNABLE TO ACCURATELY JUDGE ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD ONTO A BUSY INTERSECTION AS THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES SHIFT/REACT TO THE DRIVER AND OTHER TIMES NOT. AT TIMES THE TRANSMISSION REACHES AND REMAINS AT 7, 000 RPM (IN RED) WITHOUT SHIFTING AND/OR IS SLOW IN RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION. A CAMPAIGN RECALL WAS ISSUED BY TOYOTA FOR WHICH THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE WAS REPROGRAMMED ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THESE ISSUES STILL REMAIN. MY ULTIMATE CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR AS I AM NOT ALWAYS ABLE TO PREDICT HOW IT WILL DRIVE UPON SUDDEN NEEDS TO ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE. IT IS MOST NOTABLE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, STOPS ON A HILL, OR NEED FOR INCREASED ACCELERATION GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. WEATHER TEMPERATURE, HIGH WINDS, PASSENGER LOAD ALL SEEM TO BE VARIABLES IN HOW THE CAR SHIFTS. THE CAR DRIVES/SHIFTS INCONSISTENTLY FROM DAY TO DAY. WHEN NOT SHIFTING, IT RAISES MAJOR CONCERNS I WILL MAKE THE WRONG DETERMINATION WHEN JUDGING TRAFFIC THAT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE CONSISTENTLY RAISED THESE CONCERNS WITH THE DEALERSHIP FROM THE TIME OF FIRST OIL CHANGE (PURCHASED NEW) TO CURRENT (31,000 MILES). TOYOTA HAS ALSO REVIEWED; HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED THERE IS BIAS IN THE TRUE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AS THERE COMMENT WAS "DRIVING AS DESIGNED'. IT WAS STATED BY TOYOTA THAT IT COSTS SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE UPDATED UNTIL ENOUGH OF THESE CASES WERE KNOWN. I AM SUBMITTING THIS REQUEST FOR AN INDEPENDENT REVIEW OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES IN THIS MODEL YEAR.

TOYOTA SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN JSD. UNDERSTAND THAT TOYOTA HAS NOTIFIED DEALERS THERE IS A KNOW DEFECT WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, AS AN OWNER I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT OPERATE SMOOTHLY WHEN DRIVING. TOYOTA IS ATTEMPTING TO CORRECT WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT THEY ARE NOT ACTUALLY DISASSEMBLING THE CVT TRANSMISSION TO CHECK FOR PROBLEMS\UNNECESSARY WEAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, SO OWNERS WILL BE COVERED IN THE LIKELY EVENT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS BREAK IN THE FUTURE DUE TO THE KNOWN DEFECT ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. APPEARS TOYOTA IS TRYING TO SAVE MONEY BY NOT ISSUING A RECALL, AND JUST TRYING AN INEXPENSIVE AND INADEQUATE SOFTWARE UPDATE WITH INVESTIGATING WHETHER THE PROBLEM HAS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION.

VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED FOR A LEFT TURN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THREE OCCASIONS AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT CHECKED AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE IT. TRANSMISSION HAS NOT BEEN SHIFTING CORRECTLY AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A STRANGE GRINDING NOISE. THIS COROLLA HAS A CVT TRANSMISSION AND THE TOYOTA COROLLA FORUMS ARE TELLING ME THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAD ISSUED A SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE. THIS HAS SINCE BEEN RESCINDED BECAUSE THE UPDATE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.I HAVE READ THAT THIS LOSS OF POWER IS CAUSING SOME SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS, ESPECIALLY IF IT HAPPENS ON HIGH SPEED HIGHWAYS.

DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WHEN A CAR TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME AT THE INTERSECTION. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 35-45 WHEN COLLISION OCCURED. THE FRONT OF MY CAR HIT THE SIDE OF THEIR CAR. AFTER CRASH DASH SHOWED PCS MALFUNCTION SEE DEALER NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK UP. CAR WAS DEEMED TOTALLED AT 50K MILES. I HAVE WHIPLASH AND MODERATE BACK INJURIES. CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR RECALL ON 3/28/2021.

I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN BEHIND A LINE OF CARS ON AN OFF RAMP OFF I-10EAST, EXIT 279 IN VAIL AZ. I WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR WHO REPORTED THEY HIT ME GOING 60MPH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, MY SEATBELT DID NOT TENSION. I HIT MY HEAD AND FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I SOUGHT MEDICAL TREATMENT AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CONCUSSION, WHIPLASH AND NECK INJURY.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 81,456 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 257,000.

I reached out to the manufacturer several months ago about the recall and was told to wait for them to order the parts to fix it. I waited and reached out again and nothing has changed. I am not sure how to get to this recall fixed without the cooperation of the manufacturer.

THE DASHBOARD IS LIKE A MIRROR AND THE VENTILATION LEVERS THAT RUN ALONG THE DASH REFLECT IN THE LOWER HALF OF THE WINDOW AND THUS CUT OFF VISIBILITY. COUNTLESS MOTOR VEHICLES ACCIDENTS HAPPEN DAILY BECAUSE DRIVERS CAN'T PROPERLY SEE EXISTING TRAFFIC PRIOR TO CHANGING LANES DUE TO SIDE MIRROR BLIND SPOTS. THE DUAL/DOUBLE SIDE MIRROR MUST BE MADE AVAILABLE SO THE DEALERS OR THE INDIVIDUAL CAN REMOVE/REPLACE ALL EXISTING MIRRORS. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE I FOUND A STRESS CRACK ON THE WIND SHIELD STARTING FROM THE TOP AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IT CRACKED TOWARD THE DRIVER SIDE. I FOUND THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, SO I CONDUCTED SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT A STRESS CRACK HAS OCCURRED IN THE TOYOTA VEHICLES SO THIS WAS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER, WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND A GLASS SPECIALIST CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION AND HE CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURED DEFECT. THIS IS CAUSE FOR CONCERN BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DEEMED AS A MANUFACTURED DEFECT THAT THE WINDSHIELD WILL NOT BE REPLACED BY THE DEALER. The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bags and seat belt warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the air bags and the passenger's side seat belt warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the front passenger's side seat was not occupied. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the contact declined to pay a diagnostic fee because the failure was a safety issue. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the front passenger's side air bag and the dashboard were replaced in 2022, and the front driver's side seat belt was replaced in 2023. In addition, the wiring harness was replaced due to water intrusion in March 2022. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty, and the 12 months warranty had expired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,369.

To whom it may concern, I would like to report that my vehicle's paint has been peeling off since June 2018. The vehicle was purchased on 8/11/17, and I have continuously reported the paint problem to no avail from the dealership or manufacturer. As a matter of fact, in February 2019, the vehicle was serviced to due bubbles developing around the windshield, and I again reported the paint issues and received no resolution to my problem. Hence, I would like to know whether my case is an isolated one or just like the white paint settlement, Toyota has deceived some of its customers that chose blue paint in this model (Corolla).

Currently have paid off my WHITE TOYOTA COROLLA 2017, and is been a while since i notice the paint was pealing off and take it to the body shop, they told me to check my car for a recall since toyota has extended warranty for this matter (which i found here that does not have a recall), and that it was too soon for the car paint to be this bad, the top is also star to roasted and i just paid it off and think is not fair for me to be paying for something so early, also i take good care of it, washed two or more times at month and also handwax once or twice every month, hope this can do something about me and many more out there having the same issue.

NOT ONLY DO YOU BLIND ONCOMING VEHICLES, BUT YOU CAN'T SEE SAFELY! THE BRIGHTNESS OF THESE HEADLIGHTS IS SUCH THAT ANYTHING REFLECTIVE BLINDS YOURSELF! (ROAD SIGNS, ETC.) THIS MAY ONLY BE FOR ABOUT A MINUTE TO SEVERAL MINUTES. WITH THE AUTO INDICATOR OFF, I AM STUCK ON LOW BEAMS. WHEN THE AUTO INDICATOR COMES BACK ON, THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS NORMALLY. DURING THE TIME THE AUTO INDICATOR IS OFF, I CANNOT GET HIGH BEAMS UNLESS I TURN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH FROM AUTO TO ON. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAVE TO MANUALLY CHANGE THE SWITCH SETTING AND THE LIGHTS GO OFF WHILE THE SWITCH IS MOVED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE LAST TIME BEING 11/5/2018.

This vehicle when it's impacted there's really no help or assistance to get the vehicle removed off your property on the vehicle is a hazard it really needs to be retested and there needs to be someone to know that it's not safe for children and being this vehicle a lot of times it's kids slides and it doesn't have the front part of the vehicle is impacted bad and it's hard to get the car replaced by the manufacturer in thewayenough restraint so that you can take your kids a little faster in the car without answering them it's also a hazard because only certain drivers know how to operate it and it's not always safe to have this car out and about without issues or malfunction

Hi, I purchased my car in Feb 2017. but before 9 months back, it starts to have bubbles on all perimeter of the windshield. and currently have too many bubbles on that perimeter. My current Car milage is 33,000 only So, I talked to Toyota care regarding this but they denied handling this as they said this is outside of the warranty period. but I feel that this is a manufacturing defect. and that must be resolved by Toyota as there is no user reason for this bubbling happens. this happens when any manufacturing defect. Also, when I searching for a reason for such bubbling, I found that the ford car also has some issues in 2014. and ford made a correction on this. WHEN PURCHASING THE CAR AND LEAVING THE CAR LOT I HEARD A GRINDING/RUBBING NOISE WHICH SOUNDS JUST LIKE BRAKE PADS BEING WORN AS WELL AS ROTORS. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A DOWNGRADE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND SET TO 65MPH, THE CVT TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO DOWNSHIFT, THE RPM'S INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO WELL OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. IT FELT LIKE I WAS LOSING CONTROL. I HAD TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL IN ORDER TO REDUCE MY SPEED TO BELOW THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. I TRIED IT AGAIN ON ANOTHER DOWNGRADE AND THE SAME SITUATION WAS DUPLICATED. I DID NOT TAKE THE CAR INTO A DEALER SINCE THE ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DEALERSHIPS WITH A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL ON FAIRLY LEVEL ROADWAY, (RURAL ROAD) AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH, THE RPM WERE ABOUT 1500, BUT INCREASED SUDDENLY TO ABOUT 4500 RPM. AFTER AWHILE THE RPM WOULD DROP BACK DOWN TO NORMAL FOR THE SPEED SITUATION. THIS OCCURS ALSO AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 60 MPH IN OUR AREA. THIS OCCURRENCE HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES. HAVE RETURNED TO DEALER TWICE NOW. PROBLEM WAS OBSERVED BY SERVICE MANAGER AND LOCAL TOYOTA REP WHO WAS IN TOWN FOR LOCAL AUTO SHOW. CAR WAS ANALYZED AND DATA SEND TO ENGINEER IN CALIFORNIA WHO LATER SAID CAR IS BEHAVING NORMAL. I FOUND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE AS BOTH LOANER CARS (2017 COROLLA) DID NOT BEHAVE IN THIS DANGEROUS FASHION. I FEEL THIS QUICK BRUSH OFF BY THE ENGINEER (TANAKA) WHO IS ONLY OBSERVING DATA AND NOT HAVING TO DRIVE THIS CAR IS WRONG. I FEEL THE COMPUTER SHOULD BE ADJUSTED FOR THE CVT TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. When the cruise control is set and I go down hill my car increases the speed by 8 mph faster than the set speed. My car also makes a loud grinding noise when it does this. I spoke with different Toyota auto employees and some say that the increase in speed and noise are normal and others say the opposite. I have been in many cars driving with cruise control on and never experienced this.

The contact made several attempts to exit the vehicle, but the door was jammed. Due to the failure, the contact was forced to exit the vehicle through front passenger’s side door. The contact was able to open the front driver’s side from outside only. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and both informed the contact that no assistance would be provided. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 51,654.

The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Corolla. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V024000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that while driving at 15-20 MPH, the forward collision avoidance feature failed to alert her of vehicles ahead. The contact swerved the vehicle, crashing into the bridge wall. The air bags did not deploy. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact suffered bruising and neck pain, but no medical attention was received. The contact's mother, who was a passenger, suffered body aches and pain. The contact stated that her mother passed away from an unrelated illness a month after the crash. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site. Furthermore, the contact stated that the vehicle was equipped with unknown tires, and that the front driver's side tire and spare tire had a blowout four times within a year. The front driver side tire was replaced by a tire retailer, Walmart, and an independent mechanic, but they were unable to determine the cause of the tire failure. The contact stated that after the crash, the front driver's side tire was flat, the rearview camera was inoperable, and the front passenger door handle had fractured and detached. The message "No Rear Visibility" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the front bumper detached while being towed. The dealer informed the contact that the recall was not related to the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had an engineer inspect the vehicle. The engineer determined that the rearview camera and forward collision avoidance feature had failed. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

While turning left out of a drive through my the steering locked up and shot to the left causing a run up on the curb. However after a second or two it cleared. Upon shutting the car off and restarting driving in a parking lot same problem occured steering wheel shot to left causing me to almost loose control then all electrical power was lost in the vehicle. The steering wheel fault came up on the dash and would not let me control the wheel.

On the morning of July 21st the vehicle was parked in the garage the night before when all of the sudden our neighbors were yelling at my wife and I to exit the house because they saw fire flames and black smoke coming out of the garage. Everything in that garage and part of the house was destroyed. After it was safe to enter the house we noticed the damage was concentrated where the Toyota was parked, the explosion from the engine caused the hood to almost touch the windshield. Half the engine was gone.

The car was in a traffic jam, when the car automatically turned off and the control panel started to display the battery signal. This event occurred when the car was in the middle of a road. The car was pushed by other person to a safety area and then it was turned on. This situation never happened before. The vehicle battery is practically new and after the incident, the battery signal (lamp) has not been activated. The vehicle was evaluated by a Toyota authorized dealer, cleaning the combustion system, but there is uncertainty that this situation can occur again. A car that automatically turned off in the middle of the road is a safety issue for the driver and passengers, and also for other drivers.

The vehicle was driven to the residence by his neighbor and was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. it seems the steering failed with this incident. the car was totaled no there were no lights on at the time. i was making a right turn after a complete stop. the steering would not straighten out. the car also accelerated after hitting the curb causing a second accident cracking an entire telephone pole in half and having to be replaced. the car wasn’t even 30 feet from the right turn.

I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND 600 MILES TO AND FROM FAMILY FUNERAL. AS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE CRUISE CONTROL ON A DOWN HILL SLOPE GOES OUT OF CONTROL. AS I REACHED THE TOP OF A HILL AND STARTED DOWN THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD ACCELERATE TO 4000 RPM ( IT IS REALLY LOUD) THE SPEED WOULD START INCREASING AND GO 15-20 MPH OVER WHAT THE CRUISE CONTROL SPEED WAS SET AT. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL TO REGAIN CONTROL OVER THE SPEED. I WAS AFRAID THAT SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN IF I DID NOT. WHERE IT SEEMED MY CAR SHOULD DOWN SHIFT IT WAS NOT. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE PROGRAMMING OF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A DECLINE. ALSO, AT ONE POINT WHEN I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND A CAR PASSED ME ON THE RIGHT, MY CAR SLOWED DOWN REALLY QUICKLY. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT TOYOTA AND OTHER AUTO MANUFACTURERS USE SOY BASED WIRING AND WIRE COVERS WHICH DRAW ALL TYPES OF RODENTS TO THEM AND THEY DESTROY THE MAIN HARNESS ELECTRICAL PARTS TO MALFUNCTION. MY CAR WAS HALT AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE CAR AHEAD OF ME WHEN I HEARD THE EMERGENCY BEEP OF MY CAR AND WHILE I WAS BEING CONFUSED AS TO WHY THE BEEP WENT OFF BECAUSE MY CAR WAS AT A SAFE DISTANCE OF THE CAR AHEAD OF ME, MY CAR WAS SEVERELY HIT FROM BEHIND.THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE TOWARDS THE TRUNK THAT MY CAR WAS DRAGGED FORWARD SUCH THAT THE FRONT OF MY CAR WENT ONTO HIT THE BACK OF THE CAR THAT WAS AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM MY CAR.THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY SHIFT OF MY CAR FROM THE SECOND LANE WHERE THE IMPACT TOOK PLACE TO THE THIRD LANE OF THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR WAS TOTALED BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT. DURING THIS ACCIDENTAL EVENT MY FRONT CAR AND BACK CAR BOTH AIR BAG DEPLOYED EXCEPT MY CAR AIR BAG DIDN'T GET DEPLOYED AND BECAUSE OF THIS I WENT THROUGH SERIOUS MULTIPLE INJURIES CAUSING SOME LONG TERM BODILY DAMAGES.

IT IS CLEAR THAT THE CAR RESPONDED AFTER THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH WAS MANUALLY TURNED ON INSTEAD OF BEING IN THE AUTO POSITION. IT WAS SUGGESTED AT A DEALERSHIP EARLIER THAT CYCLING THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM ON THE CAR COULD INADVERTENTLY DISARM IT. IF THAT WERE THE CASE AND IT WAS OFF ACCIDENTLY WHY DID THE CAR TRY TO BRAKE AT THE LAST SECOND ON ITS OWN BY TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR THE DRIVER FOR THE VERY REASONS OF ITS SAFETY FEATURES UNFORTUNATELY THIS CAR COMPLETELY FAILED TO PROTECT THE DRIVER. I JUST PURCHASED A 2017 COROLLA XSE IN FEB 2017. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND WAS TRAVELING TO WORK AT 05:15, AND I CAME TO AN OVERPASS AND ON THE WAY DOWN THE NORMAL OVERPASS OVER A CROSS STREET, I HEARD THE ENGINE REV AND I LOOKED AT THE TACH, AND IT WAS AT 5000 RPM. I WAS STARTLED. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT THE NEXT OVERPASS. THIS TIME IT WAS 4000 RPM ALMOST AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS RATHER SHORT AVERAGE DOWNHILL. THIS IS STILL HAPPENING, BUT OCCASIONALLY IT DOES NOT. HOW COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE CORRECT. MY HAZARD LIGHTS ALSO BEGAN TO BLINK AND MY HIGH BEAMS TURNED ON. I PULLED OVER AND PRESSED MY SMART KEY ALARM MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL THE ALARM STOPPED. EVERY TIME I WOULD HIT ANY SORT OF BUMP OR USE MY TURN SIGNAL SWITCH, THE ALARM AND HEADLIGHTS LIGHTS WOULD START GOING OFF. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. THEY SAID IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, BUT NOT A TOYOTA ONE. THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE SINCE TOYOTA ENGINEERS THE ELECTRIC COMPONENTS.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON I95 FROM SOUTH TO NORTH (AFTER EXIT 6 IN PA) TOWARDS PHILLY AIRPORT ON 7/22/2017 AND THE CAR WAS HIT AT THE REAR BY ANOTHER CAR. CAR WAS SPAN AND STOPPED. THANK TO GOD THAT SHE IS OK. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE. OUR CONCERN WAS NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED. OUR COLLISION CENTER AS WELL AS TOYOTA DOESN'T KNOW WHY. NEED YOUR HELP AS WELL AS IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE.

WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT A STOPLIGHT, A CAR COME OUT IF NO WHERE. I TRIED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKE TO COME TO A STOP FASTER BUT THE BREAKING SYSTEM DID NOT REACT TO THE PEDAL BEING PRESSED DOWN. I WAS MET WITH A STIFF PEDAL AND I COULD FEEL THE BRAKES PUSHING BACK WHICH CAUSED ME TO HIT ANOTHER CAR THAT HAD ALREADY ENTERED INTO AN INTERSECTION.

ON 3/22/17 I WAS DRIVING AN ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR INTO AN APARTMENT COMPLEX AND PULLED IN FRONT OF THE LEASING OFFICE TO PARK. WHILE STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR DID NOT STOP AND IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED CAUSING THE CAR TO CRASH INTO THE PILLARS OF THE LEASING OFFICE WITH FORCE. AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND MY PASSENGER AND I HAD TO CRAWL OUT OF THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE. WE ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND ESCAPE WITH MINOR INJURIES. THERE ARE DRAG SKID MARKS ON THE GROUND FROM THE REAR WHEELS. UPON COLLISION THE ENGINE SHUT OFF EVEN THOUGH THE KEY WAS IN THE RUN POSITION..

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SENSOR DID NOT APPLY THE BRAKES OR DETECT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER REFRESHED THE SENSOR SOFTWARE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800.
