All 2019-2022 Toyota Corolla 6 Speed Manual Transmission cars are affected. The slave cylinder is a defective part that fails prematurely anywhere between the 20,000-70,000 mile range. The slave cylinder on this car is made out of plastic and is located inside of the transmission, when the slave cylinder fails, it leaks brake fluid all over causing the car to lock into gear and not be able to shift which is a major safety risk when there is no signs of failure. My car locked up in the middle of a busy highway and had to be pushed off the side of the road. Not only is this a safety risk, but since the part is located inside of the transmission, which is not normal, it leaks brake fluid all over the clutch and flywheel, which will all need replacement. The dealership quotes between 4-5 thousand dollars to repair, and is not covered under warranty. Toyota knows that this part is a defective part because the new models received an updated slave cylinder made out of metal, rather than plastic, but no cars have been recalled. The car was towed to my local dealership and it is currently being worked on. The incident was reported to Toyota Corporate and a case was opened to investigate this issue. Every single model made between those years are effected and has caused thousands of people to be left with an expensive repair that is unavoidable.

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. The contact stated that while approaching a stop light, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the clutch pedal; however, while attempting to release the clutch pedal, the clutch pedal lowered to the floorboard independently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road, maneuvered the gear shifter into second gear, and drove the vehicle to the residence without the proper use of the clutch. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware. The failure mileage was 80,000. 04/15/2025: The contact wanted add to the complaint the vehicle had been taken two independent mechanics and the vehicle was diagnosed with slave cylinder failure. The vehicle had been repaired.

I got a “Engine Maintenance Required” warning message. I check with the dealer and upon diagnosis told me about a faulty coolant bypass valve which is a common problem for Toyota RAV4 and Corolla. The Toyota Mechanic mentioned that this should have been a recall issue. The cost to repair was unbelievable considering it will take only a short time to do. BOught the parts and will have it installed somewhere where the labor is cheaper. Since it is a common problem, the manufacturer should recall this issue, replace the faulty part and pay the cost of everything.

The coolant bypass valve failed in my car causing “engine maintenance required” message but no CEL code. Took it to the dealership where they determined failed component and replaced it. The car only had about 71,000 miles and with a engine cooling system failure it could potentially cause further damage.

The alert for the Bypass Coolant Valve came on and cost $800 to replace. As this is a common issue across multiple Toyota models, this should be a recall.

At approximately 66,200 miles, the slave cylinder on the clutch started failing. It will be dropped off at the dealership tomorrow afternoon for repair, hopefully driven under its own power. The clutch feels spongy and friction point is unusual. This puts others’ safety at risk because the clutch could fail, causing the car to lurch forward from being stopped, and puts my safety at risk because the car could break down at any time when it finally completely fails. There are no warning lamps, just a clutch prematurely failing. This is a very common problem with the manual transmissions in this model. I purchased a Toyota for reliability, and this part should not fail for several hundred thousand miles, if ever. There needs to be a recall on these cars.

I am writing to express my concern regarding the quality of the paint on my 2019 Toyota Corolla. The paint has been peeling for the past two years, and the issue has progressively worsened. Despite taking good care of the vehicle, the paint is deteriorating at an unusual rate for a car of this age. I believe this may be a defect related to the original paint quality, and I would appreciate it if you could inspect the vehicle in this class and advise whether this could be covered under Toyota warranty or any goodwill repair program. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The Coolant Bypass Valve needs to be replaced prematurely. This issue seems to be fairly commonplace among Toyota’s cars. My car only has 62,990 on the odo.

My vehicle has a production date that falls within an existing safety recall J07 but Toyota is denying coverage. The cvt is making a grinding noise consistent with the torque converter issue described in the recall and my door has a stamp with being produced in 10/2018 when this recall was in effect. However they are denying coverage.

2 years ago, I took my vehicle to the dealership that I bought it from, because I was given notice that there was a recall to the fuel injector system, and my scheduled maintenance was due. The dealership performed the maintenance and fixed the recall, and I drove the car home. The very next day I started the car and noticed that it took 2 key turns to start and didn't think too much about it. Since then, I've put 5000 more miles on the car so the odometer now says 23000 miles. Today I take my vehicle in for maintenance because I want to resolve the 2 key turn issue, and now the dealership says that my fuel injector is broken and I need to pay for the part and labor to replace. I don't understand how the fuel injector being physically damaged is something that I as the customer could have done in 5000 miles, unless the dealer made a mistake when fixing the recall.

we took our corolla to the San Luis Obispo toyota dealership for replacement of fuel pump per national recall of that part. Since then whenever we park the car on an incline we can strongly smell gas fumes in the cabin. When we took it back stating the problem they took it in but did not touch anything on the car (there were items on the back seat they would need to remove I order to get to the gas tank that contains the fuel pump.) When we went in the invoice was marked "call after five" in pencil

Vehicle has a bank to lean 1 engine code and when at idle, fluctuates from 700 rpm down below 500 RPM and shakes the car. The vehicle has stalled twice on me while stopped at a stop light. I understand the vehicle has had two recalls for the same issue and it has not fixed the problem yet.

Toyota didn't install new fuel pump in my car. I set it up to be done when I had the air bags done. They did the air bags but never did the fuel pump recall. I've been fighting with them ever since. Now my fuel pump is going out. My car stalls when I put any amount of gas in it. I'm afraid it will stall while I'm driving which is why there is a recall on the part.

While driving with the cruise control on the rpms begin to jump to 5000 all on it's own but the car isn't speeding up when it happens. I know it's wearing the engine down every time it happens. It happens when I'm driving on flat freeways as well as when driving down hills. The dealership dismissed what I was telling them, but I know there's something not functioning properly and would like it further looked into.

I reached a hill using the cruise control at 65mph. The vehicle accelerated to account for the loss of speed due to the hill. The engine accelerated the vehicle to well over 70 mph and revved up to very high rpms. The engine remained at high rpms and higher than normal speeds until I manually disengaged the cruise control. The engine should not be revving up to and remaining at such high rpms for such an extended duration.

THERE IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. IN READING COROLLA ON-LINE FORUMS, IT APPEARS THAT IT HAS BEEN A TOYOTA PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME ' NOT SOMETHING SPECIFIC TO MY VEHICLE ALONE. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES I HAD TO TAKE IT OFF CRUISE - AS IT WASN'T SAFE IN ANY WAY. THE LAST TIME I SET IT WELL BELOW THE DESIRED SPEED WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES IN VIEW SO THAT I COULD TRY TO ALLOW IT TO RUN ITS COMPLETE CYCLE. I WANTED TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF ALLOWED TO RUN ITS COURSE. WHEN I SET THE CRUISE CONTROL, IT SETS FINE. THEN, WHEN I GO DOWN A VERY SLIGHT DOWNHILL, THE ENGINE REVS WILDLY UP TO 4000 RPM, HANGS THERE FOR A LONG WHILE AND PULLS THE CAR UP WELL OVER THE SET SPEED. THEN IT DROPS, INEXPLICABLY, TO APPROX. 3000 RPM, HANGS FOR A BIT, AND THEN DROPS DOWN TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE - APPROXIMATELY 1000 -1500 RPM AND THE SPEED GOES BACK TO NORMAL. WHAT GOOD IS A CRUISE CONTROL IF YOU NEED TO BABYSIT IT? YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF BECAUSE IT'S ACCELERATING RAPIDLY OUT OF CONTROL! I READ SOMEONE'S ACCOUNT OF THEIR CAR ACCELERATING UNTIL THEY CAME UP BEHIND SOMEONE ELSE, THE CAR BRAKES CAME ON, AND THEY WERE NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY THE PERSON BEHIND THEM BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN BRAKING. WHENEVER CRUISE CONTROL IS APPLIED AND I'M GOING DOWNHILL ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WILL ACCELERATE 5 TO 10 MILES AN HOUR AND THE RPM HAND WOULD REV UP DURING THE EXCESSIVE SPEED UP. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL BUT I DON'T THINK SO.

While driving on the highway the airbag sensor light came on. I did not hit anything and air bags did not deploy but the light is on showing some issue but I can not get into dealership to check for sometime. There are other recalls on this issue for this same car but not for my particular VIN. Sure seems like a safety issue that Toyota should check out for free to owners.

On February 17, 2024 I was involved in a hit and run. I was T-boned on the passenger side and the front passenger door wouldn't open and no airbags deployed. Later on in February I received a Toyota Airbag Contol Unit Settlement. I haven't ever received an recall information on any recalls for my vehicle.

The contact owned a 2019 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH and making a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle spun, hit a pothole, and landed on the grass on the side of the road. The front driver's side bag failed to deploy. The front passenger's side air bag was deployed through the front passenger seat was not occupied. The contact did not seek medical assistance immediately. The contact drove the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact sustained neck pain, bruises on the left knee and buttocks, and pain on the back of the head. The contact later sought medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it was totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2019 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while attempting to review the Carfax Report for the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 39,893, and at the time of reviewing the Carfax, it was discovered that the mileage was altered but unavailable.

While driving, my vehicle gas pedal becomes unusable, and two warning messages appear on the dash "Charging System Malfunction" & "Low Oil Pressure" forcing me to pull over in traffic to restart vehicle. This has happened to me 9 times already in a span of 2 weeks. This same issue has happened to a few others and one stated "Unfortunately the techs at the dealership couldn't figure out the issue as no errors were popping up when they hooked up the car to get a read out, so they called in a Toyota rep and even he couldn't figure it out." and later stated, "I've heard from 5 other people who had the same thing happen with their Corollas; one lady was even driving on the freeway when it happened to her. I reported the issue to the NHTSA and can only hope that enough people did the same so that Toyota is forced to deal with the issue." i am experiencing the same issues as this owner and this needs to be investigated!

THIS VEHICLE HAS NO GPS SUPPORT FOR ANDROID. WE PURCHASED FOR OUR DAUGHTER SO SHE WOULD NOT LOOK AT HER PHONE WHILE DRIVING BUT DID DINNER REASON TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES SAID WE HAD TO GO THRU SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO TO USE THE HEAD UNIT OF THE CAR FOR GPS. THIS IS A COMPLETELY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR SUCH A NEW CAR.

ON ONE OCCASSION AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGED FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, I WENT OUT INTO THE GARAGE AND HEARD A FAINT WHISPERING/HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURNED IT TO THE FIRST POSITION, THEN TURNED THE KEY BACK AND THE SOUND STOPPED.

I had recalls “repaired”, but my airbags do not work and Bob Howard Toyota told me that they work and that they only check the sensor to make sure the sensor works. My fuel pump was was supposedly replaced but I still experience issues such as stuttering, slight stalling, engine is working harder to produce normal speeds, fuel economy has depleted and I’m loosing 194 mpg after each fuel up. There are no lights on, but I have a code reader that pulls in two issues. I reported to Toyota’s customer service and because they put in the system everything is okay they were unable to do anything.

RECEIVED TWO RECALLS FOR SAFETY FEATURES. RECALL 1/13/20 FUEL PUMP ISSUE THAT MAY CAUSE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY STALL CAUSING A CRASH. RECALL 1/17/20 ECU RECALL THAT CAN CAUSE AIR BAGS AND SEAT PRETENSIONERS TO NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. GOING ON TWO MONTHS WITH NO REMADY. THIS SEEMS UNACCEPTABLE AS ONLY MODE IF TRANSPORTATION WITH CHILDREN, THAT COULD ENCOUNTER A SAFETY RISK AT ANY MOMENT.

ALTHOUGH I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL IN THE NEWS IN JANUARY 2020 I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE ISSUES FROM TOYOTA. I STOPPED DRIVING IT IN JANUARY 2020 AND I NEED MY CAR! THEY HAVE NOT REPAIRED IT IN A TIMELY MANNER. I WANT IT REPLACED BY TOYOTA WITH A CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE RECALLS ON IT.

I believe the break booster on my 2019 Toyota Corolla is defective. This caused my stopping distance to increase significantly, making it difficult to control my vehicle and putting myself and other drivers at risk. There were no warning lamps or messages or other symptoms prior to the start of the issue on October 10, 2025. I quickly took my car to a local mechanic the next day who said I had an issue with my brake booster. To make sure this was the issue I followed up and went to a Toyota dealership for a diagnostic. They initially told me that "all brake systems components were functioning normally at this time" and that all I need to do was to change the break fluid. I did this, but the problem persisted. I then returned to the Toyota dealership for a second diagnostic. This time they noted that the brake master cylinder and brake booster are loosing pressure internally and need to be replaced. When I googled this I saw that some 2019 Corolla (and other hybrid) vehicles were included in a 2019 recall for a brake booster pump that could fail, leading to a loss of braking assist, similar to what I was experiencing. I brought this up with the Toyota brand engagement center. They said there was no recall at this time on file, but that they would put me in touch with a representative who would manage my case (case # 251015000598). The representative would not pick up my phone calls. I was not able to speak with him. After many calls, a different representative spoke with me and told me that the case was already closed and that the assigned representative said he had explained to me why. This is not true as I had not had the chance to speak with him. I am concerned that Toyota has not given my break booster pump due diligence and is dismissing my legitimate safety concern and I would like to report this safety problem to the NHTSA.

Our 19 Corrolla failed to start after a long drive. After recall repairs for airbags and fuel pump diagnostics were completed at the J. Allen Toyota Dealership in Gulfport, MS, the technicians found the issue to be the Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: Internal Module Circuit Failure. Codes P1585 and P1586 are for reference. That subsequently blew the injection 1 and 2 fuses. The technician there told us that three other vehicles had the same issue and problems. This incident, fortunately, occurred at a relative's house and not on the roadway which could possibly result in a brake or engine failure that may cause injuries. There were no warning lights previous to or during this incident.

Carvana delivered a vehicle with severely worn brakes & rotors on 2/26/22. Vehicle also had front end damage. driver side door does not match and is off hinges. Vehicle's advertised safety features such as the backup camera, lane assist, etc. do not work and have not since purchase. Carvana delivery driver stated vehicle was damaged in transport and promised that carvana would repair. Took vehicle to firestone to repair the brakes & rotors in March. Took vehicle to toyota dealership for inspection in May and was told that Firestone had not changed the brakes & rotors - they are still severely worn. Carvana refuses to switch the car out. Firestone states they want to inspect the vehicle.

I have a 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback and the headlight went out. Instead of replacing the bulb Toyota has made it so you had to purchase the entire unit which is called a headlight assembly unit and that’s in the thousands of dollars the LED lights are supposed to last the lifetime of the car so it makes it really unsafe to drive at night Currently my passenger side light has gone out and like I said it’s in the thousands to replace it so I’m unfortunately not in a position where I can do that and now my driver side light is starting to flicker and starting to cut out. There’s no way to just replace a bulb you have to replace the entire unit which is in the thousands of dollars it makes it very unsafe to drive at night. And Toyota has stated that the LED lights should last the entire life of the vehicle if not longer.

Headlight is not angled correctly and doesn't allow the driver to fully see what is infront of them at night. Dealer inspected and found no issues with alignment, however driving at night is almost like drive without headlights on as they don't show light correctly.

Seat Belts Front Driver Side: Seat belt buckle won't engage and fails to go in for multiple attempts and has to be slammed into the Seat belt to actually work. While driving my 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE, I lost almost all power to my accelerator and a check engine light appeared on my dash. I came to a stop and stalled the vehicle, once it stalled I turned the engine back on and shifted into reverse a felt and heard a loud clunk noise coming from right under my car and its not only shifting into reverse is the loud noise active but its also shifting into drive from reverse. I scanned my vehicle with a aftermarket scan tool and got 2 exact same codes for "Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off" and then two more codes for "Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Actuator Stuck On". My torque converter in my CTV transmission failed. I was not at a risk of putting other people or myself in danger but if would have if i was moving faster at the time this happened. I have done my research on the recalls that are active on this vehicle and on the Toyota OEM TIS website there is only 1 recall that was taken care of in 2021 for the fuel pump and then there is a Warranty Enhancement Program for the Flow Shut-off Valve Coolant Leak. I did not find anything on that Toyota TIS website about the CVT recall but when i search my year, make and model on the web, I see that there is a recall for about 3,400 vehicles in the USA and nearly 1,000 in Canada that have a active recall for the CTV. I also saw the recall consequence and it matches up with what happened with my Corolla. I have attempted to contact 5 difference Toyota dealerships in my state to have them help me figure out the issue I am having with my vehicle not being listed in the recall but my CTV just failed. No one has reached back out in the past two days and I am continuing to call almost 3 times a day. I would like some clarity on how I should go about handling this issue.

Fuel is not filling up all the way. Fuel has once splashed out when stopped automatically. Used to have around 445 miles per tank, but now around 395. It had started around 59000 miles. I have had the dealership inspect and see if their were engine codes but there weren’t any. The time and care shouldn’t stop just because the check engine light isn't on as it may be a safety or mechanical issue in the future. I would like my car to be looked into as it may be in line with the fuel pump issues on the 2018 Camry, a family member owned one that was recalled for a fuel pump replacement so maybe a Corolla wouldn’t be to uncommon as well to have a know problem from the same company. 2019 Toyota Corolla, I am the second owner. Vehicle has 66,000 miles. Vehicle will turn over, start for a very small second, and then stall (shuts off). Throttle body and battery have been changed. Car runs, then stalls. Im 24 and I bought the car because they're supposed to be safe and last. I brought this vehicle home in March and the joke is on me because not only does it choose to run, but it's not safe to even think about driving it. What happens if it chooses to just stop on the highway at 65 mph? Dangerous. I have a family. Very upset.

Engine Coolant Bypass Valve faulty. Charged $176.95 for the dealer to diagnose what is already known issue. The dealer wanted $663 to replace the part. Toyota knows about this issue yet acts like they had to perform $176 diagnose. The car never blew any codes CIL and they say that this particular part doesnt cause a code but had to use a " special" diagnose tool.

On June 15, a message appeared on the multi-informational panel that the pre-collision system was unavailable. An orange warning symbol also appeared on the dash. Car was repaired a at Kendall, Toyota, 10943 S. Dixie Highway, Miami, FL 33156 in Kendall, Florida. The Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor was replaced. The unit itself cost $843 and replacement labor was $350. Like other Toyota radar sensors, I believe this one has design defects. It is a safety issue. I assume that many people will not replace it. The message on the panel does not say the unit needs replacement. I retained the faulty unit and it is available for inspection. It is Toyota part #88210-07010. There are no signs of damage that I could see. The unit has not been open and I have put it in a baggie. It has not been inspected by anyone. The new part has the same part number. There were no prior warnings or symptoms.

On August 28, 2023, I purchased two Yokohama Avid Ascend LX BW tires, size 205/55R16. I was charged $209.19 for each tire, plus another $129.95 for a 4-wheel alignment. The total for the two tires and alignment was $549.16. I had these tires for a little over one month before this incident. On October 4, 2023, after driving about eight miles on the freeway at around 60 to 65 mph, I pulled off the freeway to buy gas. When I started to leave the gas station, I noticed my tire warning light was on. I got out of the car and noticed the left rear tire was low and going flat. I drove home (less than one mile) and called a towing service. The towing service did not arrive. So I sprayed canned air in the tire and drove to the tire shop. The tire shop person said the tire was not repairable and showed me a large hole in the tire tread with what looked like fraying around the hole. The person said he could not tell what caused the flat but suggested it may have been aggravated by heat. It was about 95 degrees outside. They put the spare on my car. I called the dealership where I bought the tire, and they said to take it to an affiliated dealership, which I did the following day. That dealership person took pictures of the tire but did not know what caused the flat. They said they would have to order a replacement tire, which did not arrive until October 6, 2023. They charged me another $36.16 to install the replacement. For the large price charged, these tires should have been durable, reliable, and trouble free. My efforts to contact Yokohama were returned “undeliverable.” I am concerned about the safety and reliability of these expensive tires. If these tires are affected by heat, they should not be sold in the western United States where the climate is often hot in the summer and fall months. Anyone selling such tires should issue a warning if they are affected by heat.

On or about August 12, 2020 the car was enroute from Corpus Christi, Texas to College Station, Texas. The bumper dislodged from the car and almost feel underneath causing a serious accident. This is a low clearance car with the bottom of the car having an extension causing more difficulty. The car was pulled over to the side of the road and temporarily put in place. The car was taken to AutoNation Toyota in Corpus Christi, Texas for repair on or about August 15, 2020. Once again, the bumper detached almost causing another accident on or about June 3, 2022. The car was taken in again for repair with Auto Nation Toyota Corpus Christi on or about June 3, 2022 and the pins were replaced. The pins did not hold and the dealership was notified immediately. An appointment was made to secure the pins for June 20, 2022. The dealership stated another bumper needed to be purchased. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW CAUSING THE BUMPER TO DETACH EASILY. THE BUMPER CONSEQUENTLY GOES UNDER THE CAR WITH LOW CLEARANCE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH A POTENTIAL INABILITY TO CONTROL THE CAR WHEN THE BUMPER DISLODGES AND GOES UNDER THE CAR. THIS HAZARD IS NOT ONLY FOR THE DRIVER OF THE CAR BUT OTHERS DRIVERS ON THE ROAD AS WELL.

Water was trapped in both the rear doors. Even though I was able to drain both using the plugs on the doors, this is a reoccurring problem because a lot of water was trapped inside the door panels. I could hear it sloshing around while driving and every time I opened or shut the doors. I don’t know if this could cause rust over time or if this could cause damage from becoming frozen inside the panels in the cold weather months.

WE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK THE DAY AFTER WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THE CALL US TO INFORM THAT THEY HAD REMOVED THE STEERING WHEEL COVER AND THE CAR WAS OK ( IT SOUNDS LIKE A JOKE BUT ITS NOT). WE SHOWED TO CAR TO THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER AND HE SAID IT WAS OK FOR THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE STUCK EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE CAR ON BECAUSE THE CAR IS NOT BRAND NEW ANYMORE ( THE CAR IS 2019 AND HAS 30K MILES AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANAGER DISMISS MY WIFE AND TOLD HER TO PICK UP THE CAR EVEN WITH THE SAFETY CONCERN EXPOSED.

I hit a deer going roughly 65mph on my way to work. The hit crushed the radiator into the engine, destroyed the airbox, folded the hood, and practically vaporized the headlight. The airbag, however, did not deploy- not in the wheel or in the side curtain. I wasn't injured but thought it was strange the because the crash totalled the car (~$16k of damage) and was at a high speed. The car had one accident prior, hitting a concrete pillar at a low speed (less than 10mph) and had been repaired two years earlier. I kept every maintainence record for the car and never had any airbag lights on or service done. Because the airbags didn't deploy, the car didn't initiate the Safety Connect call to 911 or anyone else. I recently saw Toyota settled with many owners of 2019 Corolla sedans but the hatch wasn't included, but I have (anecdotally) heard of similar stories from other hatch owners. I now own a 2023 Corolla hatch and feel a bit concerned the same issue could present.

The emblem on my car contains a sensor/radar for adaptive cruise control and foward collision warning that is also connected to automatic emergency brakes. The safety of me and my [XXX] old are at risk because if I needed assisted braking/collision warning, my car no longer provides that. The braking on my car feels as if I am needing to apply a lot of pressure on the brake to stop completely or even to come to slower speeds to adjust to traffic. The problem was reproduced prior to me officially picking up my car on [XXX]. The estimator told me that he isn't quite sure what is causing the sensor issue but according to the calibration system it is working fine and he doesn't know how to fix the issue. As for the brakes he said that they feel fine to him. My car was inspected by Crash Champions and I have been told that my vehicle feels fine and the sensor is working fine according to the calibration system. I have a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. The problems started on July 21st, 2025. While driving my 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback, I noted white exhaust smoke, even after the engine was warm. One week prior, I had filled the coolant reservoir, but when I checked it, the coolant was almost gone again. There were no visible leaks or puddles under the car. I refilled the coolant, but within days the car began shaking severely upon startup and emitted a coolant-burning smell. 5 minutes after, multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard simultaneously. I replaced the car battery, and the warnings disappeared. However, while merging onto the freeway, the same warning lights came back, the car lost power, and I could not accelerate above ~25 mph. If this occurred in heavy traffic, it could lead to a serious collision. I exited the freeway and had the car towed. DTCs from the independent mechanic and the Toyota dealer included: P11ED00 P030085 P030027 P030200 (Cylinder 2 misfire) C142571 (Stop light relay actuator stuck) U1117 B2284 B15AD The Toyota dealer identified a “Port Injector #2 malfunction” and recommended replacing all four injectors (~$2,000) but could not confirm this would fix it. They noted a coolant-burning smell but advised addressing the misfire first before further diagnosis. There is an active class action lawsuit alleging that 2019–2023 Toyota Corolla and RAV4 models have defective coolant bypass valves that may cause engine issues, overheating, or coolant loss without visible leaks. This matches the coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, and eventual power loss while driving. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue in connection to the reported coolant bypass valve defects affecting 2019–2023 Toyota Corolla models.

As I was driving my check engine light turned and also another message saying “Drive-Start control malfunction”. A few second after another light came one showing “Engine coolant Temp high. On 11/24/24 I experienced this mechanical failure as I was driving. I was driving behind another car, where my car suddenly lost power and randomly accelerated almost causing me to crash behind the car in front of me. Thankfully I had time to press on the brakes to prevent me from crashing. I also did some research to see if other drivers also experienced this fault and seems that a lot of people with these Toyota Corolla and RAV4 models. I also found that an active lawsuit is ongoing against Toyota regarding this same issue. This definitely should be something that needs to be recalled as it puts our lives at risks to either crash or even catch on fire due to overheating. My vehicle gets serviced regularly.

At around 36,500 miles, my Toyota Corolla began experiencing issues with the coolant bypass valve, leading to engine overheating. This malfunction has significantly impacted my ability to drive safely, as the vehicle displays a notification every five seconds, obstructing my view of the digital speedometer and making it difficult to accurately monitor my speed. The issue was not indicated by a check engine light but a persistent "Engine Maintenance Required" message. This defect poses a serious safety risk, and there's a potential class-action lawsuit in progress regarding this very issue, suggesting Toyota might have known about the defect but failed to disclose it. The faulty component is not available for inspection upon request. As more people began to experience similar circumstances, it could lead to fatalities. Other participants to the forums says the issues start when their covered warranty expires. Within these forums there's a inconstancy of service centers honoring fixes, with no cost, knowing that there is an issue. I took the car to both a third-party mechanic and an authorized dealership, and both confirmed the problem. I was quoted $732.85 for the parts and labor within my area. Phone charging cord is prone to getting pulled into the steering column and extremely difficult to remove. When I was able to remove the cord, I discovered a wire or spring the steering wheel assembly must have come undone, because the airbag light is on, and my cruise control no longer works, and neither do the steering wheel controls for the radio

I was at a red light. When the light turned green and I pressed the accelerator the car wouldn’t move. The check engine, charging system malfunction and electronic power steering system warning light appeared on dash. Car locked up. I moved car into neutral and then drive and car was able to move. Took it to dealer next day. Cars almost ran into the back of me! I had just turned on the street from I-85! So far it hasn’t been reproduced at dealer.

12/12/21 I suffered a mulitple deer strike imploding the windshield and collapsing the roof. Two months later my restored car was returned to me on 2/4/22. It had noxious, concentrated fumes inside from adhesives and sealants not allowed to escape; I stuck my fingers with glass on a shelf under the dash; and I got blasted in the eyes and face with fine glass debris that were still in the defroster vents/ducts. It took 5 medical treatment visits to get my left eye healed. Toyota Brand Engagement Center Case 220720000770 states Toyota glass when broken should not be smaller than the size of "pebbles" and had no record on file of glass breakage turning into fine powder. An independent expert/owner of a third party body shop, Ridgeway's in Berryville VA., had advised he had a inquisitive discussion confirming with the recently-assigned ERIE Insurance Claims Adjuster, unrelated to my case, on other accidents where Toyota glass had been very difficult to clean up as it was in fine powder form, where other auto manufacturers were not. My prior accident and after accident incidents images and emails state MY original accident's glass damage resulted in about three forms of glass debris: fine glass powder as the greatest component everywhere and blown into my eyes; some glass crystals the size of a few grains of salt; and some glass shards, paper-thin laminated shards, that closely resembled the form of fish scales. I had used the words and provided images it looked like it had snowed all over the car's interior and me from the original accident. There are some 150 pages of documentation available for review.

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while driving at 60-65 MPH, the vehicle shut off and lost electrical power. All the instrument panel warning lights including the lane departure assistance warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact then refilled gas in the vehicle with assistance and was able to restart the vehicle. However, the failure reoccurred while driving and the vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to his residence. The contact stated while at a complete stop, another vehicle driving at 45 MPH crashed into the rear end of his vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts failed to engage. The contact sustained soreness and bruises on the upper and lower back and on the right arm and right shoulder. The passenger occupying the front passenger seat sustained head and neck injuries from slamming their face on the dashboard. The passenger occupying the rear passenger seat sustained whiplash, and neck and back injuries. The contact was able to drive to a hospital where the two passengers and himself received medical assistance. A police report was filed. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.

Purchased a 2019 toyota corolla from carvana that was delivered 2/26/22. When delivered, driver pointed out front end date that apparently happened "during transport". Vehicle had bad brakes & rotors that I replaced. Vehicle has one door that does not match the rest of the car. The history was disclosed as clean, no accidents. Carvana is refusing to switch the car out and has no record of me asking for it to be switched with an undamaged car. Payments are being made to bridgecrest and are on time despite me telling them I would return the car if they didn't cancel the loan for this defective car.

Waiting at a stop light, The light turns green and I go to pull through the intersection with the intention of going under the overpass to get on the freeway. When the car gets to about 10-15 mph The car makes a pop noise & stalled. It felt like suddenly it was dragging a lot of weight and slowly I guided it to the right side of the road under the overpass for the freeway. I tried to start the vehicle and I didn’t do anything I couldn’t move the shifter and that’s when I knew the transmission had to of been the issue. So I called roadside assistance through my insurance they said it would be 90 minutes I had to wait underneath the freeway with the vehicle. A AAA tow truck driver that was about to board the freeway stopped even though he didn’t have the call And tried to see if I had AAA so he could tell me, I did not So he got in to see what was wrong with the vehicle immediately you could tell the shifter he then pulled out what he called the belief shift override and he put a screwdriver To release the shifter I get it into neutral so when the tow truck driver showed he could tow it. I had called Toyota to make sure that I could have the car towed there he said that’s fine. When I arrived to the Toyota dealership the service department was closed because it was Sunday which I understood but I had to be to work at nine and it was already close to two. I have two sons that were both at their daycare/babysitter which I would’ve need to return to pick up at 6 PM 7 PM the latest. All the representatives had no help for me even with it being my third car from the dealership. The Toyota Corolla LE is a 2019 with only 29,149 miles on it. I’m a light driver the vehicle goes to work & the grocery store. I had a service appointment Scheduled for August 6 at 7 AM For a basic service check fluids rotate tires, no oil change, received email 8:20am Claiming I canceled appointment. Night before incident check engine light came on

ADDITIONALLY, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE JIM NORTON TOYOTA (9809 S. MEMORIAL DR, TULSA, OK 74133, (918)215-3786, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 20V012000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND 20V024000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 11/16/2019 @ 11:57AM AND SHE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING 40 MILES PER HOUR. THE CARS FORWARD COLLISION NOR DID THE CRASH IMMINENT BRAKING SYSTEM WORK. THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK UP NOR DID THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY CAUSING HER TO HIT THE DASH BOARD AND THE PASSENGER TO HIT HER HEAD ON THE DASH BOARD. SHE HAS BRUISED RIBS, BRUISED STERNUM, LUMBAR STRAIN ETC. THANKFULLY THIS DID NOT RESULT IN SOMETHING WORSE. HOWEVER, THIS SHOULD BE A CONCERN SINCE THERE IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE MALFUNCTION OF THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING,

SEVEN MONTHS OLD VEHICLE, FRONT WINDSHIELD GOT CRACK BEGINNING FROM DRIVER SIDE TILL THE CENTER. CHIP IS NOT VISIBLE TO ME. POOR QUALITY OF GLASS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO GET EVALUATED. THE DEALER MADE A REPORT OF A VERY MINOR CHIP ONE INCH AWAY FROM THE RIGHT SIDE CORNER. THE CAR HAS 6209 MILES ON IT AND GARAGE KEPT. BOUGHT IN JAN 2019. YES ITS A BRAND NEW CAR.
