IN OCTOBER OF 2020, I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY AIRBAG RECALLS AT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER (LIA TOYOTA OF COLONIE). MY APPOINTMENT WAS ON OCTOBER 22, 2020. AFTER DEVOTING A DAY TO THIS, I WAS DISMAYED TO LEARN THAT MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE BACKORDERED. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WERE IN. SEVERAL WEEKS WENT BY, AND I HEARD NOTHING. THEN, I GET A CRYPTIC MESSAGE FROM SOMEONE IN THEIR PARTS DEPARTMENT, AND GAVE ME A NUMBER TO CALL BACK. WHEN I CALLED THE NUMBER, A MAN ANSWERED WHO SAID IT WAS NOT LIA TOYOTA, AND THAT HE'D BEEN GETTING A LOT OF CALLS FROM PEOPLE THINKING THEY WERE CALLING LIA TOYOTA. (THE DEALERSHIP DID PICK UP WHEN I CALLED THE NUMBER, AND IT WAS WHEN I ENTERED THE CHOICE TO SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE PHONE SYSTEM THEN TRANSFERRED ME TO SOME INDIVIDUAL'S MOBILE PHONE!) SO, I THEN HAD TO TRY A DIFFERENT ROUTE TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND FIND OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THIS LED TO SEVERAL CALLS WHERE NO ONE REALLY KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I FINALLY GOT MY ORIGINAL SERVICE MANAGER TO RESEARCH THE SITUATION, AND HE SAID THE PARTS WERE STILL ON BACK ORDER. FAST FORWARD TO DECEMBER 15, 2020, AND I TEXTED THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO INFORMED ME THAT 1 PART WAS IN, BUT ANOTHER WAS STILL BACKORDERED. I THEN TEXTED THEM TODAY (JAN 29) AND THEY SAID THE PARTS WERE NOW IN. SO I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT NO ONE WAS EVER GOING TO FOLLOW UP WITH ME TO NOTIFY ME OF THIS. IT'S BEEN 3.5 MONTHS, AND CUSTOMERS' SAFETY DOES NOT SEEM IMPORTANT TO EITHER TOYOTA OR LIA TOYOTA OF COLONIE. I OWN SEVERAL BUSINESSES, AND CUSTOMERS' VALUABLE TIME DOES NOT SEEM IMPORTANT TO THEM EITHER. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORK THIS HARD TO GET A RECALL REPAIR DONE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE BRAKES FAILED TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. WITHOUT WARNING, THE BRAKE, VSC, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WILL ALL ILLUMINATE. AFTER THIS HAPPENS AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE ABS MAKES A SCREECHING SOUND , THE BRAKES LOCK UP AND THEN ARE LOST COMPLETELY. USUALLY REQUIRES A RAPID RESPONSE OF DOWNSHIFTING AND/ OR USING THE PARKING BRAKE TO AVOID COLLISIONS. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS EVERY 6-10 TIMES IT IS DRIVEN. MANY TIMES THERE ARE NO WARNINGS AT ALL, THE DASH LIGHTS HAPPENS INSTANTANEOUSLY WITH THE BRAKE FAILURE. SOMETIMES RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WILL MAKE A STOP BUT IT IS NO GUARANTEE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER FIVE YEARS WITH NO EXPLAINABLE CAUSE FROM MY MECHANIC.

VSC TRAC, TRAC OFF, AND PARKING PARK LIGHT WARNING LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE SEEMINGLY RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE NO LONGER ON. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE CHARGED OVER $4,000 TO REPLACE VARIOUS PARTS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I AM CONCERNED THE BRAKE SYSTEM WILL NOT PROPERLY FUNCTION WHEN THIS CONDITION EXISTS.

The contact owned a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer on August 7th, 2023, where a protective chemical coating was sprayed on the sub frame. The contact stated that after driving, he noticed that power steering fluid was leaking from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact’s brother who is an independent mechanic, informed him about the source of the leak and noticed there was rust on the puncher frame. The vehicle was towed to the same local dealer, where it was placed on the lift, and it was diagnosed that the frame had rusted and was damaged beyond repair. The mechanic was able to peel and remove rust while using a screwdriver. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 198,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE FRAME CORRODED AND THE SUSPENSION ARMS THAT HOLDS THE FRAME SPRINGS WERE ALSO CORRODED. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, WHEN THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMALLY LOUD SOUND. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED FOR THE CORROSION REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240,000.

ON 1/31/20 I TOOK POSSESSION OF 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA, VIN [XXX] AND ON 2/3/20 I REGISTERED THE VEHICLE IN THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS. THE PREVIOUS OWNER [XXX] HAD ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON NOVEMBER 27, 2007 WITH 48,836 MILES. [XXX]. TOLD ME THAT TOYOTA HAD INSPECTED THE FRAME AND COATED IT. ON 2/4/20 I VISITED TOYOTA OF DARTMOUTH IN NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA 02747 FOR SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE TWO AIR BAG RECALLS ADDRESSED. UPON THEIR REVIEW OF THE VEHICLE'S TOYOTA SERVICE RECORD THEY INFORMED ME THAT NO RECORD REGARDING THE FRAME OR FRAME COATING EXISTS. ON 2/11/20 TOYOTA DARTMOUTH TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE TWO AIR BAG RECALLS AND DURING THAT TIME I HAD ASKED FOR AN OPINION OF THE FRAME. THEY COMPLETED THE AIR BAG RECALLS AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO LIFT THE VEHICLE. SEVERE ROT HOLES ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR OF FRAME WHERE DRAG LINK CONNECTS TO FRAME. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE.? THEY RECOMMENDED I CALL TOYOTA BECAUSE THE FRAME PROGRAM HAD EXPIRED BUT SAID THAT TOYOTA MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP. I CALLED TOYOTA THAT AFTERNOON AND WAS TOLD A CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AGENT WOULD CALL ME BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY. ON 2/12/20 A TOYOTA AGENT CALLED ME AND EXPLAINED THAT BECAUSE THE FRAME PROGRAM HAD EXPIRED IN JANUARY 2019 THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT TOYOTA COULD DO. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE HIGHER UP WHO COULD REVIEW THE CASE. I WAS CONNECTED WITH [XXX], OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AT THE TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS IN PLANO, TX. [XXX] ALSO EXPLAINED THAT BECAUSE THE FRAME INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR MY VEHICLE HAD EXPIRED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING TOYOTA COULD DO. I REQUESTED THAT HE ELEVATE THE CASE HIGHER TO SOMEONE WHO COULD REVIEW THE CASE ON A STAND ALONE BASIS. THE RECALL WARRANTY EXPIRED ON THIS VEHICLE ON JANUARY 31, 2017. I FIRST RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS DEFECT WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER ISSUE I WAS EXPERIENCING. THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR RUSTING OF THE VEHICLE'S CHASSIS AND IS DANGEROUS FOR ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. I USUALLY RECEIVE NOTICES, AS I DID FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL, HOWEVER, I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE WITH REGARD TO THE RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE CHASSIS. I HAVE KEPT THE SAME ADDRESS FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL TOYOTA AND TOYOTA TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE VISUALLY NOTICED THE DEFECT. THE DEFECT IS THE RUST UNDERNEATH MY CAR, WHICH IS NOT OPEN AND OBVIOUS. THE REAR AIR BAG LEVELING SYSTEM FAILS WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE BOTTOMS OUT SENDING THE REAR END SKIPPING ACROSS THE ROAD IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER 3 TIMES. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY REPLACED THE AIR RELEASE VALVES IN THE SYSTEM AND THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER SEQUOIA OWNERS AND IN THOSE CASES THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM INHIBITS BREAKING AND VEHICLE CONTROL AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. ENGINE KNOCKING SOUND OR TICKLING NOISE.I WENT TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSIS WHAT IS WRONG, BUT THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE QUOTING $9,800 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT, IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR IS NOT WORTH THAT MUCH, AS I WOULD BE SPENDING ON IT. LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND SOME HAVE SAID TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THEIR ENGINE. I CONTACTED THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE AND THEY DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE, SEEMS LIKE THEY DO NOT WANT TO STAND BEHIND THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN PROBLEMS ARISE UNTIL IT BECOMES A BIGGER ISSUE. I AM JUST LETTING YOU GUYS KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM, I AM NOT SURE IF YOU CAN DO ANYTHING, BUT I WANT TO INVOLVE MEDIA AND OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT IS NOT FAIR TO SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON A CAR JUST FOR THE ENGINE TO GO OUT AT 52,000 MILES. THERE HAS TO BE SOME KIND OF MANUFACURE DEFECT.

TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR REPAIRS RELATED TO ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT) DUE TO MOISTURE/WATER IN THE AIR INJECTION PUMPS AND/OR AIR SWITCHING VALVES FOR SELECT SEQUOIA TRUCKS. IT SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO EXTEND IT TO ALL SEQUOIA TRUCKS AS IT CLEARLY RECOGNIZES THIS PUMP AND VALVE ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE IN THIS MODEL. THE COVERAGE EXTENDS FOR THE LESSER OF 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES BUT INSTEAD SHOULD BE FOR THE GREATER OF THE TWO. THIS REPAIR COSTS $4000 AND TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN THE TRUCK VALUE IS NEAR $7000. MY TRUCK IS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 50 MPH WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS.

ENGINE WARNING AND VSC TRAC OFF LIGHTS, I HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THESE WARNINGS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAD HAPPENED TO MY SUV. THE LAST TIME WAS ON A LONG VACATION TRIP AND IT SUDDENLY GOES ON AND THE ENGINE STARTS TO GO ON LIMP MODE, WHERE IT SLOWS DOWN DRAMATICALLY EVEN THOUGH THE SUV'S ENGINE IS FINE. IT WAS PRETTY DANGEROUS BECAUSE WE WERE ON A FWY WHERE THE SPEED IS 75 MPH. WE TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR IN TOYOTA DEALER AND IT JUST NEED A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHICH COST ME $2600 TO GET THIS LIGHTS OFF! I GET CONSTANT WARNING LIGHTS FOR BRAKE, VSC AND TRAC. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SEQUOIA. IT SHUTS DOWN THOSE SAFETY FEATURES.

I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH ENGINE WARNING AND VSC TRAC OFF LIGHTS GOING ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON A TRIP AND OUR SEQUOIA ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER. IT SLOWED DOWN DRAMATICALLY EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS FINE. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE WE WERE ON AN INTERSTATE WHERE THE SPEED IS 70 MPH. I ALSO EXPERIENCED ALL THE BRAKES MAKING A MASSIVE GRINDING NOISE WHILE GOING SLOW INTO A RESTAURANT. (THE BRAKES HAVE LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON THEM.) THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON PERIODICALLY.

WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS, AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT, "VSC TRAC" LIGHT, AND "TRAC OFF" LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A TERRIBLE GRINDING SOUND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP. IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP BUT LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN IT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME. THE "BRAKE" LIGHT HAS CONTINUED TO COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK SINCE MAY OF 2015 AND THE OTHER TWO LIGHTS STILL COME ON OCCASIONALLY. IN FACT, ON MY 800 FOOT DRIVE BACK FROM PICKING UP MY LUNCH TODAY, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT WAS ON. EACH TIME THE OTHER 2 COME ON, IT CAUSES THE BREAKS TO GRIND AND IT IS VERY HARD TO STOP. THERE WAS JUST OVER 120,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AT PURCHASE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS FORUMS ONLINE STATING ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL, 2004, AND 2003 MODELS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO DO A RECALL AND EXPECTS CUSTOMERS TO PAY FOR SOMETHING IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE THROUGHOUT THESE PARTICULAR MODELS. I THINK SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR!!!

UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE RPMS BEGAN TO INCREASE EXCESSIVELY FORCING HER TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THESE VEHICLES HAVE A WELL KNOWN FRAME RUST ISSUE. IN MARCH OF 2018, TOYOTA DEEMED THIS FRAME SAFE AFTER AN INSPECTION AND APPLIED AN UNDERCOATING TO COVER UP THE RUST. A YEAR LATER THE UNDERCOATING BEGAN TO FLAKE OFF, REVEALING THE SEVERE RUST UNDERNEATH. LAST WEEK, NOT EVEN THREE YEARS LATER, WE WERE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND FELT A POP UNDERNEATH. THE PASSENGER SIDE SWAY BAR MOUNT BROKE LOOSE FROM THE FRAME, AND THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TOLD US THE FRAME IS SO ROTTED THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO WELD IT BACK TO. OTHER THAN THE FRAME ROT, THE VEHICLE RUNS, LOOKS, AND DRIVES LIKE NEW. THIS FRAME, AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS, SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED INSTEAD OF UNDERCOATED. THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND SERVICE CAMPAIGN ARE OVER, BUT I THINK THIS SHOULD BE REVISITED, AS THERE ARE STILL MANY INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING.

I HAVE FIXED THE REAR DOOR LATCH ABOUT A HALF DOZEN TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE. EACH TIME THE FIX LASTS ABOUT 2 TO 3 WEEKS. THEN THE REAR DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD THE BACK DOOR BE NECESSARY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. THE PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN BY TOYOTA, YET THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION.

FASTFORWARD AND THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN ABOUT A MONTH LATER....NOW THEY CLAIMED THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS AT FAULT FOR ANOTHER NEAR THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE REPAIRING DEALERSHIP SERVICEMAN ASSURED ME THEY FINALLY GOT IT AND SAID HE WOULD FEEL VERY SAFE FOR ME TO TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN. I WAS HESITANT, BUT DID LEAVE TO GO OUT OF TOWN....ONLY TO FIND MYSELF AT YET ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON.....AND THEN GOING OFF WHEN THEY WENT IN TO THE SERVICE STALL. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DEALER WAS PRESSING A BUTTON AND SHUTTING THE REAR HATCH WITH FORCE AS A REPAIR OPTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 SEQUOIA THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM A VA DEALER ON 31 DEC 2005; IT HAS A RATHER SERIOUS DRIVE-TRAIN RELATED PROBLEM. AFTER COMING TO A 'HARD' STOP, SEVERAL SECONDS LATER I EXPERIENCE A LURCH OR CLUNK THAT LITERALLY FEELS LIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST BUMPED ME FROM BEHIND. I BEGAN TO APPLY THRESHOLD BRAKING AND THE PROBLEM WAS MINIMAL. PLEASE URGE TOYOTA TO HAVE THIS ISSUE MADE INTO A RECALL ALONG WITH THE RUST ISSUES THAT THIS TRUCK CONTINUES TO HAVE. OUR SEQUOIA HAS STARTED 'LUNGING' FORWARD UPON INCIDENTS OF HEAVY BRAKING; FOR INSTANCE, WHEN WE BRAKE HARD AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, WHEN THE PRESSURE IS RELIEVED FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD HARD- IT PUTS OUR HEADS INTO THE HEADRESTS AND FEELS LIKE WE HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND; THIS IS BOTH A SAFETY ISSUE AND A LIABILITY ISSUE AS THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN BRAKING HARD; IT'S NOT A THROTTLE ISSUE OR A BRAKE ISSUE, BUT FEELS MORE SO LIKE THE POWERTRAIN IS SLIPPING OR JUMPING BACK INTO GEAR VERY HARD. OUR SEQUOIA HAS APPROXIMATELY 65-66,000 MILES; I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED TOYOTA REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE. WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN RELEASING THE BRAKE TO ACCELERATE YOU FEEL AND HEAR A CLUNK FROM THE REAR. IT FEELS AS IF YOU HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS ON A DAILY BASIS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. CONTACTED TOYOTA IN JAN 2010 AND TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL. I TOOK THE MATTER TO MANAGEMENT IN FEB 2010 AND THEY HAD ME BRING THE VEHICLE IN. THEY FOUND THE TRANS SUPPORT TO BE FAULTY AND REPLACED THE CROSSMEMBER, BOLTS AND INSULATION. PROBLEM CONTINUED. TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK MARCH 2010 AND THEY SAID IT HAD AN UPDATED CROSS MEMBER AND BOLT SO NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AT THAT TIME. CURRENTLY STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM AND WAITING FOR A RETURN PHONE CALL BACK FROM MANAGEMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN. I WAS TOLD EACH VISIT THAT THIS IS A DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEM AND IT CANNOT BE FIXED AND IT IS SOMETHING I WILL NEED TO LIVE WITH. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS ANSWER AND I WILL TAKE THIS MATTER FURTHER UNTIL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. I PAID $30,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE. IN THE PAST I HAD A REAREND ISSUE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AND ENDED UP IN AN ATTORNEY'S OFFICE WITH THEM TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK AND MONEY IN MY POCKET. MY 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAD THE VSC LIGHT COME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT IT WAS A CODE FOR THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION VALVE STICKING OPEN, BUT HE ALSO TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE REPLACED THE VALVES BEFORE AND IT ENDED UP BEING THE PUMP. WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE WENT INTO "LIMP"MODE WHICH WAS VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH MY WIFE AND THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THE DUNLOP AT20 TIRES ON MY 2005 SEQUOIA HAVE BEEN WEARING EXCESSIVELY ON THE EDGES FROM THE TIME THAT I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. WHEN MY HUSBAND TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER THEY SAID THE TILT HAD TO BE ZERO CALIBRATED. THE SAME DAY AFTER LEAVING THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THE SKID LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON MORE FREQUENTLY AND I GOT A LITTLE WORRIED FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY. I RETURNED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SKID CONTROL SYSTEM AT A COST OF 840 WITH NO GUARANTEE TO FIX MY CAR. TWO DAYS LATER I TOOK IT TO THEM TO BE REPLACED AND THEY WERE NOT SO SURE THAT WAS THE REAL PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE BREAK BOOSTER AND THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE A FURTHER LOOK. THE NEXT DAY WHEN WE CALLED TO CHECK ON MY CAR THEY INFORMED US THEY HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM IN ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT THEY DID REPLACE THE SKID SYSTEM AND DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM ONLY GENERATED DIFFERENT CODES. THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO KEEP MY CAR TO COMPARE IT TO THE OTHER CARS CODES. I STILL AM WAITING TO HEAR WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE TRYING TO FIND ANSWERS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSC OFF LIGHT, VSC TRAC LIGHT, AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT ALL CAME ON AT ONCE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND I EXPERIENCED A DRAMATIC DECREASE IN VEHICLE POWER. I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME NOTICING A DRASTIC CHANGE IN ACCELERATION AS THE SEQUOIA WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY; IT WOULD ACCELERATE AT A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED RATE, TOPPING OUT AT 35MPH ON THE FLATS, 30 MPH ON AN INCLINE, I WAS ABLE TO REACH 70MPH GOING DOWN HILL ON A HIGHWAY. SINCE THAT DAY, DURING START UP, THE ENGINE MAKES A HIGH-PITCH VACUUM NOISE, WHICH DROPS OFF AND NORMAL ENGINE SOUND RETURNS. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE NORMAL, UNTIL 10-15 SECONDS AFTER START, WHEN THE VSC OFF/VSC TRAC/BRAKE LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATE, AND REMAIN ON UNTIL THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND THE POOR ACCELERATION AND DECREASE POWER ARE NOW THE NORM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD THIS HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ACCELERATING OUT OF AN INTERSECTION, OR NEEDING MORE POWER ON A HIGHWAY.

THE LIGHTS CAME ON TODAY & I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER AND SKID ECU WAS BAD & NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY QUOTED ME $1900 PLUS LABOR. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON INTERSTATE 15 IN CALIFORNIA BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS. AFTER SEVERAL HARD FOOT APPLICATIONS PEDAL FINALLY ENGAGED. THIS IS AFTER MONTHS OF SERVICE ON THIS VEHICLE FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS STARTING WITH SPONGY AND INCONSISTENT PEDAL AND VCS, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON AND STAYING ON. DEALERSHIP REPLACED ON BOARD COMPUTER, BRAKE BOOSTER, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE PADS AND PROBLEM STILL THERE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW. I HAVE A NEWLY PURCHASED, ONE OWNER, PREOWNED SEQUOIA, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED EVERY 5000 MILES AND ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN COMPLETED AT THE SAME DEALER EACH TIME. I HAVE RECENTLY TAKEN IT FOR INSPECTION AND THE DEALER FAILED IT BECAUSE THE VSC SKID CONTROL ECU NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF ERROR CODES. THIS IS A $2300 DOLLAR REPAIR. MY 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF FOR MONTHS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERING SUNROOFS. I UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED IN VARIOUS VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY DIVERSE AUTO MANUFACTURERS. LAST WEEK I WAS VISITING MY DAUGHTER IN CALIFORNIA. WE WERE TRAVELING IN A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA AT 70 MILES/HR WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS THE SOUND OF AN EXPLOSION OVERHEAD. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO LURCH A BIT BUT I AM NOT SURE WHETHER THIS WAS FROM THE PRESSURE CHANGES WHEN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OR WHETHER THE DRIVER MAY HAVE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY IN RESPONSE TO THE EXPLOSION. WE EXITED THE HIGHWAY TO INSPECT THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE SUNROOF WAS BROKEN IN A SYMMETRICAL FASHION WITH THE CENTRAL PORTION OF IT BLOWN OUT. THERE WAS IN RETROSPECT ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF GLASS IN THE SPACE BETWEEN THE SLIDING ROOF PANEL AND THE BROKEN SUNROOF WHICH WOULD INDICATE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE GLASS WAS CARRIED AWAY IN THE AIR. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THAT ANYTHING HAD FALLEN ON THE VEHICLE. WE WERE NOT GOING UNDER AN OVERPASS AND NOT CLOSE TO ANY VEHICLES AHEAD OF US. ON REVIEWING THE INTERNET INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM IT DOES SEEM THAT IT IS NOT AN INFREQUENT OCCURRENCE AND PROBABLY THEIR ARE MANY CASES THAT GO UNREPORTED. MY SON IN LAW TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA AND THEY INDICATED THAT THIS WAS AN ACQUIRED PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY. I BELIEVE HE IS GOING TO TOYOTA MANAGEMENT TO EXPLORE HAVING TOYOTA FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WRITE TO SUGGEST THAT THE NTSB PLACE AN ALERT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC ASKING FOR INFORMATION ON THUSFAR UNREPORTED CASES OF SPONTANEOUS SHATTERING OF SUNROOFS. I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS GOING TO NEED TO REPLACE THE WINDOW MOTOR AGAIN, REPLACE THE ECU CHIP AND ALSO REPLACE THE DOOR HANDLE(APPROX $1,000) AFTER TALKING WITH THE SERVICE REP I WAS TOLD THAT A TSB MAY HAVE BEEN ISSUED ABOUT THE ECU AFTER I HAD MY CAR SERVICED ANT THAT THEY ROUTINELY DO NOT CHECK THE ECU UNLESS THEY HAVE AN IDEA THAT IT COULD BE CAUSING A PROBLEM. VSC VSC TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING POORLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR INJECTION CONTROL DRIVERS AND THEN ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE OFF. THE FOLLOWING DAY ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE BACK ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING POORLY AGAIN. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT ANOTHER REPAIR WAS NEEDED NOW. THE AIR PUMP SET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $1,700.00. THOUSANDS OF SEQUOIA OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM BUT TOYOTA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.

THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, BRAKE, AND ABS LIGHTS ALL COME ON ALL AT ONCE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT THE USED SUV IN MAY 2013. IT WORRIES ME AS I AM ON THE FREEWAY NOT KNOWING WHAT WILL HAPPEN. NOT SURE HOW THIS WILL AFFECT MY VEHICLE IN THE LONG RUN. IT NORMALLY COMES ON WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR AT A CRAWLING SPEED. FOR EXAMPLE, THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES THE FREEWAY HITS A RUSH HOUR MOMENT AND EVERYONE WILL START ROLLING/CRAWLING WITH THEIR VEHICLES. AS THIS HAPPENS, THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AT LEAST TWO TIMES IN A 30 MINUTES TO ONE HOUR TIME FRAME.

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TOOK AN EXIT. SLOWED DOWN AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VSA AND TRAC LIGHTS CAME ON, THE CAR LOST POWER FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL DIDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND EVENTUALLY, HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS IF THE ENGINE WAS RE-ENGAGING AND THEN SOME GRINDING NOISE AND THE CAR WAS BACK TO "NORMAL" DRIVING CONDITION. MY REAR HATCH QUIT 48 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. FIRST THE REAR DEFROST/WIPER/WINDOW QUIT SOON FOLLOWED BY THE HATCH NOT OPENING AT ALL. THE ISSUE LIES WITH THE INADEQUATE 360 DEGREE SEALING OF THE REAR HATCH ITSELF. SEVERAL ISSUES HAVE RESULTED FROM THE INADEQUATE SEAL: WATER COMING IN UNDER THE HATCH AND MOLD FORMING INSIDE THE VEHICLE. DUST COMES IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ON DIRT ROADS. I AM LUCKY THERE WAS NO CAR IN THE RIGHT LANE, SO I PULLED TO THAT LANE JUST IN TIME. IT WAS A SCARY MOMENT FOR ME BECAUSE MY KIDS WERE WITH ME ALSO. THE SKID CONTROL COMPUTER ON MY 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING LOW POWER/LOW ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE HAS 65,000 MILES. BECAUSE THIS PART FAILED, SEVERAL ENGINE PARTS MALFUNCTIONED. IN MANY CASES, I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK SERVICED BASED ON DEALER RECOMMENDATIONS TO PROLONG ITS USE. IT HAD APPROX 85,000 MILES WHEN I NOTICED THE MAIN THENCE LIGHT. AFTER A VISIT TO THE STONE MOUNTAIN, GA DEALERSHIP, THEY WANTED $4000 FOR PARTS AND LABOR ON AN EMISSION COMPONENT FAILURE (AIR PUMP INJECTION SYSTEM). We have an issue with our Cosco Mightyfit LX Convertible Car Seat that we purchased in 2021 from Walmart. About 5 times now, when we have gone to get our child out of the seat, one of the straps has disconnected by itself from the rear buckle loop holder. The first time it happened we thought it may be a fluke, but given it has happened now about 5 times we are concerned about the continued use of this car seat and the safety it would provide in the case of a crash. We are concerned that if involved in a crash, one side (or both) of the chest straps would somehow come undone and our child would not be secured in his seat. Once we re-connect the strap to the buckle/loop on the back side of the car seat, it seems to be okay again for a little bit, but there is no notice or appearance of issues until some time later we go to unbuckle him and realize one strap just pulls out of the back of the seat. Additionally, the issue seems to occur regardless of installation method. It has occurred with both the latch system and the vehicle's seat belt. Issue seems to be regardless of seat installation location as we have had it happen in both the 2nd and 3rd rows. Vehicle seems to not play a factor as well. To answer the suggested questions very specifically: -What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The harness. Specifically, part of the 5-point harness that is the shoulder strap (left side usually) -How was the child’s safety put at risk? Child would not be secure in instance of crash and liable to come out of their car seat or not remain as firmly planted as designed. -Has the car seat been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No it has not. The date listed below of when incident occurred is the most recent date this occurred, but again it has been multiple times now.

After several years of fighting problems with, after braking to a brief stop, the loss of power/abs grinding when accelerating and turning right, now the ABS is completely dysfunctional. Both TRC lights will turn on and usually the parking brake, and when braking at speeds less than 10mph the abs will activate and prevent bring the truck to a stop without pumping them, on dry pavement. When the ABS light turns on, then braking is possible, but all pressure is gone from brake booster and brakes sound like they're grinding, not like the sound of abs engaging. Very dangerous to drive in snow as front brakes work but drive axle doesn't disengage when the brake pedal is depressed. Regular mechanic won't engage with diagnosing issues as he feels the problem is partly computer malfunction and Toyota won't allow for used part mismatching. ABS/ECU is failed.

2005 Sequoia class action, court ordered frame inspection & either repair or frame replacement. Never received notice of class action. Received letter stating vehicle needed to be inspected. Took to Victory Toyota, Canton, MI on Jan 5, 2018. Was told passed inspection & frame needed seal coating, did not have product. Vehicle was taken in multiple times, never completed the process. On May 6, 2019 the vehicle was taken to this dealership, a rental vehicle was provided and they did nothing and on May 21, 2019, noted the vehicle didn’t pass inspection & the campaign had expired! Per service history report from another dealership, on May 21, (the 15th day they had they had vehicle in their possession), they noted the frame did not pass inspection, also noted the repair timeline expired and they did nothing; however, they were paid to do the job they never did. The frame should of been replaced. I have photos from 2016 showing holes in the frame. I took vehicle to two other dealerships, one inspected in fall 2019 & sent 3 photos to Toyota showing the frame rusted holes but stated once Toyota makes a decision, the never change their mind. Second local dealership printed detailed Toyota repair history report showing Victory stated the vehicle did not pass inspection and that the timeline expired on the 16th day they had the vehicle!! The vehicle interior & exterior is in excellent condition but Toyota knowing refused to replace many of the frames, even though they knew the manufacturer had not made the frames correctly. Toyota has tons of money, clearly they don’t care about their product or customers safety.

Frame deterioration has rendered the rear torque arm incapable resulting in dynamic misalignment of the rear axle. Under acceleration the vehicle veers into oncoming traffic and under deceleration it veers towards the road ditch as the axle shifts about beneath the vehicle.

Out on me I got about 319000 miles Toyota should be proud and thank me for keeping my ride up to date I do my part to have it running good but they not doing there part to help me with these recalls please help me out.

The issue is both a mechanical and engineering defect causing the override of the entire AIP system. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK, MY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. I PULLED OVER CUT THE TRUCK OFF THEN BACK ON, THE LIGHT WAS GONE. THE NEXT DAY DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, ALONG WITH THE TRAC AND VSC WARNING LIGHTS. I WAS ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH SINCE I WAS IN THE CITY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY YET. I PULLED OVER CUT THE TRUCK OFF AND THEN BACK ON, THE LIGHTS WERE OUT, BUT WITHIN ANOTHER MILE THEY WERE BACK ON. I AVOIDED THE HIGHWAY SINCE MY BRAKES WERE HAVING PROBLEMS AND IT WAS POURING RAIN. THE NEXT DAY THEY WERE OFF SO I DROVE BACK TO WORK BUT WHEN I WAS ON THE WAY HOME THEY ALL CAME BACK ON, THIS TIME IT WAS THE AFTERNOON AND NOT RAINING SO I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN THE CODES AND SAID MY CODES WERE C1247 STROKE SENSOR AND C136 MASTER PRESS SENSOR - THEY SAID THIS WAS PART OF A SKID CONTROL ECM THAT CONTROLLED MY ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM! VERY SCARY TO THINK MY BRAKES WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE FIXED FOR $1042.82 AND MAY ALSO NEED TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AT $715.85. WHEN I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS WAS VERY COMMON FAILURE WITH 2003-05 MODELS AND THAT TOYOTA HAD ALREADY RECALLED THE 2003 PROBLEM. MY SERVICE TECH SAID THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR IT. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN DISAPPEARED. TWO DAYS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO RIDE ROUGH LIKE IT NEED A TUNE-UP. THE ENGINE LIGHT DISAPPEARED AND THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE UNTIL I REACHED HOME. THE ENGINE LIGHT, VSC OFF AND VSC TRAC ALL CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS RIDING REALLY ROUGH. I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE SO THEY COULD LOOK AT BUT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. SO I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA SO THEY COULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS CARBON BUILD UP AROUND THE CYLINDERS, SO THEY CLEANED ALL EIGHT CYLINDERS BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK. I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT. THE FINALE SOLUTION WAS FOR THEM TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE. THEY CLAIMED THAT PISTON #3 WASN'T WORKING AT ITS FULL CAPACITY AFTER RUNNING A COMPRESSION TEST BUT THEY'RE NOT 100% SURE. THE COST FOR THEM TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF WOULD BE $862 AND ANOTHER $862 TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER PLUS WHAT EVER REAL PROBLEM IS. THE SERVICE GUY AT TOYOTA SAID THAT HE HAS SEEN THREE SIMILAR PROBLEMS LIKE THIS AND IT COST THE CUSTOMER AROUND $3000. MY DVD PLAYER WASN'T WORKING SO THE TECH TESTED IT AND STATED THAT POWER WAS GOING TO IT AND THAT IT SHOULD WORK. THREE WEEKS LATER THE DVD PLAYER WORKED BUT NOW MY BACK WINDOW DIDN'T. WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA BRAND NEW. IT HAS EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR ON THE OUTER EDGE OF THE TIRES. WE ARE GOING ON OUR 3RD SET OF TIRES. THE ORIGINAL ONES WERE REPLACED AT 28K AND WE ARE HAVING TO BUY NEW ONES AT 66K. WE HAVE BEEN DILIGENT IN ROTATING OUR TIRES AND HAVING THE ALIGNMENTS DONE. IN 2007 THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LOWER BALL JOINT FOR THE FRONT SUSPENSION. WE COMPLAINED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AT THAT TIME ABOUT THE UNEVEN WEAR ON OUR TIRES, AND COULD IT BE CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE BALL JOINT. THEY DISAGREED AND SAID THAT IT WAS FROM NOT TAKING CARE OF OUR VEHICLE. WE TOLD THEM THAT WE HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AT THE RECOMMENDED TIMES. THEY SAID THE CAR WAS FINE, THE TEST FOR THE ALIGNMENT WAS FINE SO IT HAD TO BE THE DRIVER. SINCE THEN I HAVE CHECKED OUT OTHER 2005 SEQUOIA'S AND NOTICED THE SAME WEAR PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO GONE ON DIFFERENT FORUMS REGARDING THIS SUBJECT AND HAVE FOUND THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM OTHER CONSUMERS. AT WHAT POINT IS TOYOTA GOING TO DO SOMETHING? IS A CAR GOING TO HAVE TO BLOW OUT A TIRE AND KILL SOMEONE FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DEFECT? OUR TIRES ARE BALD ON THE OUTER EDGE OF THE TREAD BUT STILL HAVE ANOTHER 25K MILES IN THE MIDDLE. I AM EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS GOING AROUND CORNERS BECAUSE THE TRACTION CONTROL GOES INTO EFFECT. I AM FRUSTRATED WITH THE RESPONSE THAT I HAVE RECEIVED FROM TOYOTA. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION. WHEN I SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE WITH TOYOTA, I WAS TOLD," THAT IT IS NORMAL TO ONLY GET 26K MILES OUT OF YOUR TIRES. YOU CAN'T COMPARE YOUR SEQUOIA WITH THE TAHOE OR EXPLORER." A WEEK AFTER A 36000 MILE SERVICE AND NOT USED FOR A WEEK, WHEN FINALLY DRIVEN, MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE THE EMERGENCY LIGHT AND THE TRACTION DASH LIGHTS CAME. VSC, TRACK, AND BRAKE LAMP STAY ON. TOYOTA HAS NOT REPAIRED PROBLEM. WAS FIRST BROUGHT TO THEM IN WARRANTY WHEN THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER BUT DIDN'T HAVE THE PART. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. A FIRE AND POLICE REPORT WERE BOTH FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ONLY REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR HALF THE COST OF THE VEHICLE, STATING THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 20,000. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE FIRE MAY HAVE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
