THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, STATING THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE VEHICLE'S IMPACT DID NOT REQUIRE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER WAS UNSATISFIED WITH THIS RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A NEWLY REPAIRED VEHICLE AND TO BE COMPENSATED FOR FUTURE ACCIDENTS THAT MAY AFFECT THE DRIVER.

"TAKATA RECALL" WHILE ENTERING THE RAMP TO GET ON THE EASTEX FWY. (IH 59) NORTH BOUND, I OBSERVED THAT UP AHEAD OF ME A VEHICLE WAS IN A COMPLETE STOP WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. I TRIED TO SWITCH LANES BUT I HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE TO MY LEFT WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SWITCH LANES. I THEN RAN INTO THE BACK OF THE OTHER CAR WHICH CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. AFTER COLLIDING WITH THE STOPPED VEHICLE, I WAS THRUST FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY CAR. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO PREVENT MY FACE, HEAD, AND UPPER BODY FROM CRASHING INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT WINDSHIELD OF MY CAR.

SINCE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG RECALL, I HAD CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA NUMEROUS TIME TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, THEY TAKE MY INFO AND PROMISE TO EMAIL ME OR CALL BACK WITH THE NEXT AVAIL. APPOINTMENT, HOWEVER WE NEVER HEAR BACK, AND STILL NO RESOLUTION TO FIXING THE AIRBAG.

I NEED SPECIFIC ASSURANCE THAT I DO NOT NEED TO ADDRESS THIS RECALL, PLEASE, SINCE THERE MAY BE A DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE ONLINE RECALL-CHECKING SERVICES AND THE TAKATA-RELATED WEBSITE. THANKS.

Back in 2018 toyota did the undercoat to my 2006 Toyota sequoia frame to prevent rust. Now my frame is completely rotted out to the point i can’t drive my vehicle.

Frame of this vehicle has lot of rust damage, is it still under manufacture recall? How can I ensure safety of my vehicle along with rusty frame? I’ll be glad to receive more information how to contact manufacturer in order to get this resolved. I drove this vehicle on Nov 19, 2023 last time just hear some knocking sounds while driving

Frame rusted so badly the the brackets attached to it are coming off

The driver side, rear, trailing arm broke away from the vehicles frame due to “frame rot” while driving. The vehicle became extremely dangerous to drive. Toyota has since declined to help. They said they notified us via mail of a customer service campaign addressing the premature rust issue, but we never learned of the program and lawsuit until after the frame broke and I almost crashed. Later I saw the broken arm/frame under the vehicle. This frame failure can potentially be a catastrophic and deadly event. I opened an insurance claim and it was denied and I was referred back to Toyota. Our vehicle has been factory maintained it’s entire life. No service advisors ever mentioned a possible problem to my family and I. I recently spoke to the Toyota service manager at Parker Toyota in Couer d Alene Idaho and his master technicians have seen the same failure that occurred on our vehicle. This is extremely dangerous.

I was on the freeway driving and out of nowhere the body started swaying and bobbing with no control. Was informed by the tow truck driver that i could have rolled the vehicle easily and the consequences would have been serious. The frame is so rusted out that the tie rod and sway bar assembly are completely detached from the frame and hanging loose. Upon further inspection at the auto repair garage there are rusting issues throughout the frame. The frame needs complete replacement.

WHEN TAKING TURNS AT MILD ACCELERATION THE SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT WILL FLASH AND THE VEHICLE LOSES ACCELERATION. THIS GENERALLY HAPPENS WHEN TAKING A LEFT TURN FROM STOP WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM A SIDE STREET ONTO A MAIN ROAD. GENERALLY AT THE INTERSECTIONS THERE ARE A SMALL GRADE CHANGE FOR WATER DRAINAGE, THIS WILL CAUSE UNEVEN SURFACE WHEN DRIVING ACROSS AND CAUSE A MINOR ROCKING OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS HAS PRODUCED DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHERE THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION LEAVES THE VEHICLE IN THE ONCOMING LANE LONGER THAN DESIRED AND COULD EASILY RESULT IN A SERIOUS COLLISION. I HAVE FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE FORUMS THAT HAVE REFERENCES THE CAUSE BEING ASSOCIATED WITH ABS SENSOR OR YAW SENSORS. WOULD LOVE FOR THIS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND A SOLUTION PROVIDED.

I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH 83,900 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE VSC TRAC SYSTEM GOES ON AND OFF FOR NO REASON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES GO INTO GRIND MODE AND DO NOT ENGAGE. I HAVE NARROWLY MISSED HITTING OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO BRAKE. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN, BUT NOT UNDER RECALL OR COVERED BY WARRANTY. I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER AS THIS IS A PUBLIC SAFETY AND LIABILITY ISSUE. I NEED HELP RESOLVING THIS WITH TOYOTA.

My vehicle was in dealer shop for various maintenance 3 times (Nov 202 - May 2021 - Jan 2022). Frame rear passenger side rusting to the point I was told not to drive my vehicle on bad roads. Toyota dealer said to replace the frame thru them would cost me $14,000. I cried all the way home because I take exceptional care since I purchased her 2006 new. She is a Cream Puff. This should have been identified sooner. I have not driven her since Jan 3, 2022 because not only me+ (husband & dogs), but also my fellow motorists are at risk. Both my husband & an employee of the dealer shop asked Toyota directly in attempt to get them to replace frame at their expense. Toyota said No.

REAR HATCH. REAR HATCH HANDLE MADE OF PLASTIC. HAS BROKEN TWO TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. DEALER CHARGES $400 EACH TIME TO REPLACE. TOYOTA SHOULD NOT MAKE CARS WITH SUCH CHEAP PARTS. CANNOT GET INTO VEHICLE.

MY 16 YEAR OLD SON WAS LOCKED IN THE JEEP UNABLE TO GET OUT IN A 90 DEGREE WEATHER. ON JULY 1ST THE JEEP WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET IN BRIDGEPORT NEW JERSEY. I CAME OUT THE VEHICLE THEN LOCKED THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND HURRIED TO BRING A BAG WITH FOOD INSIDE EVEN THOUGH PASSENGERS WERE STILL EXITING THE VEHICLE. MY SON WAS NOT READY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR WAS SHUT CLOSED. LATER HE TRIED TO EXIT THE JEEP AND EVERY TIME HE TRIED TO OPEN THE JEEP DOOR, THE DOOR WOULD LOCK AND THE ALARM WHO OFF. HE DID THIS QUITE A FEW TIME AND WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE JEEP. HE HAD TO CALL SOMEONE ON HIS CELLPHONE TO HIS AID. THIS WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. WHY DID THIS HAPPENED? IS THIS A DEFECT? WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP THAT I HAVE TO TAKE?

BRAKES NOT OPTIMAL. LONG RUNNING PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA TRUCKS. 96 K MILES AND WELL MAINTAINED. WOULDN'T BE UPSET IF IT WASN'T SUCH A HIGHLY REPORTED FAILURE. IN MARCH 2016, I HAD - FOR THE FIRST TIME - THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, BRAKE, AND ABS LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL COME ON... ALL 4 ON AT ONCE. THEN AGAIN, TODAY, I HAD THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. A KNOWN ISSUE FOR BOTH SEQUOIA AND TUNDRA MODELS, OWNERS HAVE TRIED TO GET A RECALL. MANY THOUGHTS ONLINE ABOUT WHAT CAUSES THIS; IT APPEARS IT'S A FAULTY SKID CONTROL UNIT (ECU UNIT). SAYS THE ECU WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO A "SAFE" MODE AND LIMIT OUTPUT POWER AND ACCELERATION, UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED. I EXPERIENCED THIS TODAY AFTER THE LIGHTS CAME ON. OTHERS ONLINE SAY MIGHT BE A BAD BRAKE FLUID SENSOR, BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH OR OXYGEN SENSOR. HOWEVER, OVERWHELMINGLY IT SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY ECU' AND THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE ELECTRONIC PART ($2,300)!

VEHICLE BATTERY DIES IF THE IGNITION IS IN THE ACCESORY POSITION FOR 20 TO 30 MINUTES, WITH JUST THE RADIO ON. I HAVE BROUGHT TO TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES SINCE OCTOBER 2009. BATTERY WAS REPLACED ONE TIME. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM. I WAS EVEN TOLD ONE TIME THAT I WOULD NEED A SEPERATE MARINE BATTERY HOOKED UP IN ORDER TO LISTEN TO THE VEHICLE RADIO. The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. The contact stated that the VSC OFF, and the VSC traction and brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road before deciding to continue to drive. The contact stated while driving to his residence, he heard an abnormal noise. The contact stated while inspecting the vehicle, the rear driver suspension link was detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 298,000.

I HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM MY FRONT RIGHT WHEEL AREA WHEN I WOULD GO OVER A BUMP. EVEN WHEN I WAS GOING VERY SLOW OVER A SPEED BUMP. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR GARAGE AND HE TOLD ME IT SOUNDED LIKE MY STRUT WAS STICKING. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE HIM REPLACE MY FRONT STRUTS. WHEN I RETURNED ON 4/26/13 HE TOLD ME THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT RIGHT STRUT WAS BROKEN OFF & THAT MY FRONT LEFT STRUT HAD A CRACK IN IT & WOULD HAVE BROKEN. HE KEPT THE PART & SHOWED ME WHERE IT WAS BROKEN & HOW IT GOES TOGETHER. HE SAID IT WAS ONLY THE WEIGHT THAT WAS HOLDING IT ON & HE COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT IT DID NOT SLIDE OFF. THEY CHECK TO SEE IF THIS WAS PART OF A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE & DID NOT FIND ONE. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I REPORT IT BECAUSE IT WAS DANGEROUS & VERY RARE THAT BOTH STRUTS WOULD BE EFFECTED. THE VSC TRAC LIGHT, THE VSC OFF LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL COME ON.... IT CAUSED MY BRAKES TO ACTUALLY FAIL. I CAN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART AND THIS SEEMS TO RESET IT. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND AT VARIOUS TIMES. IT HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY AND ESPECIALLY DURING THE WARM SUMMER MONTHS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WOULD HAPPILY HAVE IT FIXED IF SOMEONE COULD TELL WHAT THE EXACT FIX IS?

AFTER PUTTING GAS IN THE VEHICLE, I PULLED AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION AND WHEN I CAME TO A STOP SIGN BEFORE ENTERING THE MAIN THOROUGHFARE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SO HARD TO DEPRESS THAT I ALMOST HAD TO STAND ON IT TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP, AND NEARLY WAS UNABLE TO BEFORE PLOWING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE "TRAC OFF", "VSC TRAC", AND BRAKE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WERE ALL ILLUMINATED. IT WAS A REAL PANIC SITUATION BECAUSE IT WAS TOTALLY UNEXPECTED AND MY WIFE AND 2 YOUNG DAUGHTERS WERE IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. I AM AN 20 YEAR + ASE MASTER AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN WITH OVER 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND VISUALLY CHECKED THE BRAKE SYSTEM AS WELL AS I COULD ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SAW NO OBVIOUS CAUSE FOR THE ISSUE. THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET THE WARNING LIGHTS OFF AND THE BRAKES TO WORK WAS TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE IGNITION. AFTER THAT, THE VEHICLE WENT THE REST OF THE DAY (140 MILES) WITH NO PROBLEM. I AM NOW AFRAID TO LET MY WIFE AND KIDS DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL I FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I DO SEE WHERE THERE ARE A FEW SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND A COUPLE THAT ARE PRETTY MUCH IDENTICAL TO MINE. THIS VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY 52,000+ MILES ON IT. SINCE AT LEAST SEPTEMBER OF 2009 MY 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA RANDOMLY ACTIVATES THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY BRAKE. TOTAL CONTROL, INCLUDING ACCELERATION AND STEERING, IS LOST FOR A FEW SECONDS. THIS IS OCCURRING EACH TIME IN NON SLIP DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT BEGINS TO BLINK, BEEP, AND THE VEHICLE JUST LOSES TOTAL CONTROL. USUALLY OCCURS UPON DRIVING FROM A STOP. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA ON AT LEAST 4 TO 5 OCCASIONS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD EACH TIME THAT THEY HAD NO CODES AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE STOPPED AT THE LIGHT OR INTERSECTION AND SHE ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE INSTEAD IT LOST POWER AND IT WOULD ONLY DRIFT. THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. SHE NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURS NINETY FIVE PERCENT OF THE TIME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD AN ANTILOCK BREAK MALFUNCTION, BUT THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE PART THAT IS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR WAS $2, 500. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT, CASE 1002137212. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER AND SHE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK. MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I DECIDED TO BRING IT IN TO GET IT CHECKED AND FIXED. MY SIGNALS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRAC OFF LIGHTS AND VSC TRACE LIGHTS ALL GO ON AT THE SAME TIME PERIODICALLY AS I AM DRIVING ANYWHERE ON THE FREEWAY OR THE STREET, AND DISAPEAR PERIODICALLY. I THOUGHT I HAD FIXED EVERYTHING WHEN THEY DIAGNOSED 5 THINGS ON MY VEHICLE THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. ONE OF THEM WAS MY MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS THAT ARE MAKING MY LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF. WINDOW AND WIPER LAST OPERATED JULY 2008, AT APPROXIMATELY 35000 MILES; HOWEVER, AS THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DRY SUMMER AND FALL, USE OF THE EQUIPMENT HAS NOT BEEN REQUIRED THEREFORE THE FAILURE WENT UNDISCOVERED UNTIL APPROXIMATELY NOVEMBER 2008. This Toyota has several large rust holes directly on the frame. i hit a pot hole and more structure damage was revealed on the frame from rust. The truck drives rough now. The vehicle only has 150,000 miles. The rust holes are so severe that they're directly under my suspension. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle. Their was once a recall for the frame. It doesn't seem that it was satisfied. I'm very worried about this issue. Toyota should have to replace frame or make it safe to drive.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SETTLEMENT POSTCARD FOR THE FRAME ALONG WITH UNKNOWN RECALL NOTICES REGARDING THE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BUTLER TOYOTA (9419 ARONSON DR, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, (317) 848-4210) SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE FRAME REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS WERE REPAIRED INSTEAD. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SETTLEMENT LETTER HAD EXPIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND WAS DETERIORATING RAPIDLY. THE DEALER QUOTED A REPAIR COST OF $2,000 FOR AN AIR SUSPENSION AIR BAG THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE COST TO REPAIR THE FRAME WAS $3,000. THE DEALER DID NOT INCLUDE ON THE PAPERWORK THAT THE FRAME WAS THE MAIN REASON THE CONTACT BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF THE DEALER HAD INCLUDED THE FRAME ON THE REPAIR ORDER, THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE FRAME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 230,000.

THE ATTACHED WORK ORDER SHOWS: 'INSPECTED AND FOUND NO PERFORATION. ELIGIBLE FOR CRC SPRAY ' CUSTOMER WILL RETURN AT A LATER DATE FOR FRAME CRC APPLICATION.' IT WAS DURING THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT JIM COLEMAN ONLY HAD ONE PERSON PERFORMING THIS WORK. AND THAT WE HAD TWO YEARS FROM OCTOBER 2018 TO HAVE THE WORK PERFORMED BY TOYOTA AT NO CHARGE. ON MONDAY MARCH 10, 2019, WE LEFT OUR SUV WITH THE TOYOTA DEALER SO THAT THE HOF WORK COULD BE PERFORMED. WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER AT 5:05PM ON FRIDAY 03/15/2019 INFORMING US THAT (A) OUR SUV HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED SINCE THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (B) THAT THERE ARE LARGE HOLES IN THE FRAME AND (C) NO WORK WOULD BE PERFORMED SINCE THE HOF HAD ENDED IN JANUARY 2019. THE SERVICE GUY THERE ALSO KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED THE TOYOTA MANUFACTURER TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART WAS IN FACT A RECALL. HOWEVER, THE PART HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED IN 2009. AFTER HAVING REVIEWED MANY BLOGS ON LINE ABOUT THIS BEING A COMMON ISSUE WITH TOYOTA SEQUOIAS (SOME MORE THAN ONCE), I WAS EXTREMELY CONCERNED. I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME NOTICING A DRASTIC CHANGE IN ACCELERATION AS THE SEQUOIA WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NORMALLY; IT WOULD ACCELERATE AT A SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED RATE, TOPPING OUT AT 35MPH ON THE FLATS AND 16 MPH ON AN INCLINE, IN ADDITION, DURING START UP, THE ENGINE MAKES A HIGH-PITCH VACUUM NOISE, WHICH DROPS OFF AND NORMAL ENGINE SOUND RETURNS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED; ERROR CODES P2440, P441 AND P444 ARE ALL PRESENT INDICATING A FAILURE OF THE AIR INJECTION PUMP. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON TOYOTA SEQUOIAS AND TUNDRAS; HOWEVER, TOYOTA HAS ONLY ACKNOWLEDGED IT ON THE 07-10 SEQUOIA BY EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS AND 150,000K MILES FOR THIS PART. IT IS CLEAR FROM OTHER POSTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND OTHERS THAT THIS PROBLEM ALSO EXISTS WITH THE 2004-07 SEQUOIAS AS WELL. CONSUMER STATES MATS WOULD CONSTANTLY MOVE UNDER THE PEDALS INTERFERING WITH GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING HIGH SPEEDS AND WHEN IT RAINS WATER WOULD LEAK INSIDE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ASSURED HER, THEY HAD RECTIFIED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE MATS AND MAKING SURE THE LINING AROUND THE WINDOWS WERE TIGHT. HOWEVER, THE LEAK CONTINUED AS WELL AS THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE NAVIGATION/RADIO,CD PLAYER WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALER WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE WATER FROM LEAKING IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER THEN STATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL/ HESITATE WHILE TURNING AND THEN IT WOULD JERK FAST AT TIMES. A DIAGNOSIS REVEALED THE TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET WAS LEAKING. ALSO THE POWER OUTLETS WERE NO LONGER WORKING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RIDE ROUGH, THE SEAT WOULD GRIND AND VIBRATE, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE BRAKE HARDWARE KIT WAS FALLING APART, THE ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE GASKETS, THE TRUNK WOULDN'T OPEN. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED. THE DEALER STATED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I OWN A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH 49,000. THIS IS MY SECOND SEQUOIA (PRIOR WAS A 2002 YEAR MODEL) SO I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS AND NUANCES OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER PURCHASING THIS SEQUOIA, I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS, AND BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES, THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AND LUNGE FORWARD MOVING THE CAR SEVERAL FEET FORWARD. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES THIS OCCURRED, I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED. I CAME TO REALIZE THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A MOMENTARY SURGE IN THE ACCELERATOR. EVEN WITH YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IT STILL CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. MY WIFE AND I HAVE NEARLY STRUCK VEHICLES IN FRONT OF US. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DURING WARRANTY AND REPORTED THE INCIDENTS. OF COURSE WE RECEIVED THEIR STANDARD REPLY "WE COULD NOT GET YOUR VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM." WHEN QUESTIONED FURTHER, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS PROBABLY WHEN THE A/C PUMP WAS COMING ON, AND IT ONLY FELT LIKE WE WERE MOVING BUT ACTUALLY WEREN'T, AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. WOULD MAKE SENSE, BUT THE VEHICLE DOES THIS WITH BOTH THE A/C ON AND THE A/C OFF THOUGH I MUST ADMIT IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE FREQUENTLY DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. PLUS, THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH MY PREVIOUS SEQUOIA. ALSO, IT IS NOT OUR IMAGINATION THAT THE VEHICLE IS MOVING FORWARD. WE HAVE NEARLY STRUCK THE REAR END OF OTHER CARS AND MUST NOW STOP 8 - 10 FEET BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES. I LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER SEQUOIA OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND GETTING THE SAME RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA. BEING SOMEWHAT MECHANICALLY INCLINED, I TOO BELIEVE THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC/COMPUTER CONTROL PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT AWARE OF THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM CAUSING DEATHS, PLEASE DON'T FORGET US AS IT IS STILL AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM, AND FOR WHAT WE PAID FOR THIS VEHICLE, WE ARE OWED BETTER THAN THEIR LAME EXCUSE. I OWN A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED. WHEN IT RAINED I NOTICED WATER WAS GETTING IN THE VEHICLE AT THE REAR HATCH AND UNDER THE RIGHT CENTER ROW SEAT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE BOLTS FOR THE LEFT HATCH SHOCK; THEY REMOVED ALL REAR INTERIOR AND FOUND "MANY HARDWARE PIECES MISSING". THE DEALER STATES THE BOLTS WERE REMOVED, CLEANED, AND APPLIED SILICONE TO THEM. APPARENTLY THE LEAK IS GONE. HOWEVER, WHENEVER IT RAINS, I AM CONCERNED THE PROBLEM COULD COME BACK. *TR

2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASE. ON 30 JULY 09 VEHICLE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE COMPUTER FAILURE OF ECU, VSC, AND OTHER COMPUTERS. TOYOTA TECH REPS SAY VEHICLE COULD NOT HAVE CAUSED PROBLEM, THEREFORE IT MUST BE AN "EXTERNAL' FAULT. HOWEVER, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF ANY EXTERNAL ARCING OR OTHER POWER SURGE INDICATIVE OF AN "EXTERNAL" EVENT. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ADMIT POTENTIAL OF A LATENT DEFECT AND SAYS INCIDENT MUST BE REFERRED FOR INSURANCE. TOYOTA WILL NOT ADDRESS LOGICAL QUESTIONS AS TO WHY OTHER (NON-PROTECTED SYSTEMS SUCH AS THE RADIO) IN THE VEHICLE STILL FUNCTION IN LIGHT OF THE ALLEGED "EXTERNAL EVENT." ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE NO CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSES BLOWN, SO AGAIN HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE "EXTERNAL EVENT" THEORY TO BE VALID? FOR ALMOST A YEAR, THE VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH OF OUR 2006 SEQUOIA. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS SIX TIMES, AND MANY REMEDIES HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED, TO NO AVAIL. THE THREE LIGHTS CONTINUE TO LIGHT AT RANDOM TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK, THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED, THEY HAVE REPLACED AND RETORQUES SENSORS TO SPEC, AND REPLACED THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. THE LIGHTS REMAIN ON. OFTEN THE TECH CLAIMS THAT THERE ARE NO CODES IN THE SYSTEM AND THAT THEY CAN'T FIX WHAT THEY CAN'T SEE IS BROKEN. THEY TELL ME IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM HAVING UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF ALL 4 TIRES ON MY VEHICLE (2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA), TO THE POINT OF BECOMING BALD. I HAVE BEEN RELAYING MY CONCERN TO THE DEALER FOR THE PAST 11K MILES. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 21K MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALIGNED 3 TIMES BY MANUFACTURER DEALERS, THE FRONT BALL JOINTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THOROUGHLY INSPECTED BY DISTRICT LEVEL MANUFACTURER'S PEOPLE. THEY ARE SAYING NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND AM FINDING THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLAINT ON THE SAME MODEL OF VEHICLE SINCE 2002.
