COMPANY KNOWS THE ISSUE AND ENHANCEMENT WARRANTY 10 YEARS FROM THE DATE-OF-FIRST-USE OR 150,000 MILES (WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST). CURRENTLY MY CAR IS 10 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS AND LESS THAN 95000 MILES. THEY DECLINE. IF PARTS ARE FAULTY THAN COMPANY SHOULD ABLE TO REPAIR REGARDLESS OF YEAR OR MILEAGES.

MY NAME IS [XXX], SINCE YOUNG UNTIL NOW I HAD BOUGHT TOTAL 7 TOYOTA VEHICLES IN MY LIFE. MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2009 HAS PROBLEM WITH THE POWER SLIDE DOOR THAT IT OPEN AND CLOSE BY IT SELF A FEW TIMES WHILE I VACUUM THE RUG OF FLOOR TODAY. THE CAR WAS AT PARKED AND ENGINE IS OFF. ALSO I FOUND THE CABLES ON THE SLIDE DOOR HUNG OUT EXPOSED ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR EDGE. PLEASE SEE PICTURE ATTACHED. PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WON'T CLOSE WITH BOTH POWER MOTOR AND MANUALLY. IT'S STUCK OPEN. I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICES TO GET ASSISTANCE AND THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT JUST EXPIRED 1 MONTH AGO. DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET THE VAN DOOR UNSTUCK. IT JUST HAPPENED TODAY, OR I WOULD'VE CALLED 1 MONTH AGO. VERY FRUSTRATED, CANNOT DRIVE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY, VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.

ON MARCH 19, 2019 THE SUNROOF AND SUNROOF COVER FLEW OFF MY VEHICLE AS I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP HAD NO IDEA WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN. I FOUND OUT AFTER SPEAKING TO MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY THAT THERE IS A RECALL FROM WEBASTO, THE MANUFACTURER OF THE SUNROOF. THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE 100% AWARE OF THIS AND SENDING OUT NOTICES TO OWNERS. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE AND WEBASTO IS FORCING CUSTOMERS TO USE A REPAIR FACILITY THEY CHOOSE. TOYOTA SHOULD BE ISSUING RECALL NOTICES AND REPAIRING THESE VEHICLES ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.

THE PASSENGER DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLY SNAPPED CAUSING THE DOOR TO SLAM SHUT ON MY CHILD'S LEG WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE. WE WERE PARKED IN A PARKING LOT, THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT DECLINE WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN THE FRONT. THE DOOR WAS NEVER ENGAGED TO CLOSE, IT SLAMMED SHUT ON ITS OWN.

VEHICLE ACCESSORY. I HAVE PURCHASED A HARMAR AL625 SCOOTER LIFT, PURCHASED THROUGH SPINLIFE (DON'T KNOW WHICH COMPANY IS RESPONSIBLE). THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT MATCH THE HARDWARE PROVIDED, CREATING THE POSSIBILITY OF INJURY OR VEHICLE DAMAGE DUE TO INCORRECT INSTALLATION. SPECIFICALLY, THE INSTRUCTIONS CALL FOR USE OF 2 "MOUNTING BARS", USED TO AVOID DRILLING HOLES IN THE VEHICLE. ONLY 1 MOUNTING BAR WAS SUPPLIED, ALONG WITH OTHER HARDWARE TO APPARENTLY BE USED IN PLACE OF THE SECOND BAR. THIS IS POSSIBLY REQUIRED DUE TO THE 3RD ROW SEATING MOUNTS OF THE SIENNA. THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOUNTING THE ALTERNATE HARDWARE, NOR HAVE I BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY ON THE HARMAR AND SPINLIFE WEBSITES. ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT BOTH COMPANIES HAVE SO FAR BEEN FRUITLESS.

SLIDING SIDE DOORS OPEN ON OWN. BUTTON FAILS TO ENGAGE PREVENTING DOOR FROM CLOSING. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK. BOTH TIMES IT HAS BEEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR.

IN LATE 2016, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR POWERED CABLE/MOTOR ASSEMBLY BROKE. IN APRIL 2017, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR POWERED CABLE/MOTOR ASSEMBLY BROKE. TOYOTA REFUSES TO COVER THE COSTS OF THE REPAIR. THE DOOR IN 2017 BROKE JAMMED IN THE OPEN POSITION, REQUIRING ASSISTANCE TO CLOSE IT TO GET HOME WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. ONCE CLOSED, THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, CAUSING A SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS OCCURRED.

2009 TOYOTA SIENNA, DRIVERS SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR CABLE BROKE AND INITIALLY LEFT THE DOOR IN THE OPEN POSITION IN A MALL PARKING LOT. ONCE CLOSED MANUALLY TO TRAVEL HOME, THE DOOR WAS LEFT JAMMED IN THE CLOSED POSITION UNTIL WE ARRIVED HOME. I HAD TO CUT THE CABLE ASSEMBLY OUT TO SIMPLY REMOVE THE SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY 3 YOUNG DAUGHTERS. ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE DOOR REPAIRED AT A LOCAL SHOP WHICH WAS UNABLE AND CHECKED WITH TOYOTA THEMSELVES. TOYOTA'S RESPONSE WAS THAT THE NEW CABLE/MOTOR ASSEMBLY WAS UPGRADED AND ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH TOYOTA FOR $1300(+LABOR), I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE WHO HELPED MINIMALLY WITH THE BILL TO GET IT FIXED. STILL COSTS ME OVER $1100 TO GET A FUNCTIONING DOOR AND REMOVE A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN ON A VEHICLE WHERE I PAID INITIALLY FOR THE FEATURE.

HAD FIRESTONE AUTO CARE INSTALL 4 BRAND NEW TIRES ON VEHICLE AT 9AM ON 11/3/17. THAT AFTERNOON WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. TOOK VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE NO INDICATION THAT VEHICLE HAD HIT SOMETHING AND NO PUNCTURES IN TIRE. FIRESTONE REPLACED THE TIRE. ON 11/717 WHILE TRAVELING ON LOCAL ROAD THE LEFT REAR TIRE SUDDENLY LOST ALL AIR AND WENT FLAT. ONCE AGAIN NO INDICATION THAT THE VEHICLE HIT ANYTHING AND NO PUNCTURES IN TIRE. I DEMANDED A FULL REFUND FROM FIRESTONE WHICH THEY AGREED TO PROVIDE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE ELSEWHERE AND HAD TIRES REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND.

THE BEADS ON COOPER CS 5 TIRES ARE BULGING ON THE SIDE WALLS CAUSING BLOW OUTS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THE LOCAL COOPER TIRE DEALER AND COOPER MANUFACTURER ARE DENYING THESE ISSUES. THEY BOTH STATE IT IS THE WAY THE SHOP IS MOUNTING AND BALANCING THE TIRES. IF THAT WAS THE CASE, WE WOULD HAVE ISSUES WITH GOODYEAR, FIRESTONE, BF GOODRICH, CONTINENTAL, ETC TIRES. THE COOPER MANUFACTURER IS TRYING TO SAY THAT THE COOPER CS 5 TIRES ARE SENSITIVE. A DEALERSHIP INSPECTION ON AUGUST 30, 2017, ON MY 2009 SIENNA VAN WITH 76,096 MILES ON IT I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING UNIT WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST WOULD BE 1014.98 PLUS ALIGNMENT, SHOP FEES, AND TAXES. MY DAUGHTER HAS A 2010 SIENNA VAN WITH OVER 100,00 MILES AND HAS NOT HAD THAT PROBLEM. SOMETHING IS AMISS WITH TOYOTA AND THEIR STEERING SYSTEM. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE STEERING LEAKAGE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON.

NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ARE POSTED BY OWNERS ON THE INTERNET ALL POINTING TO THE SAME DEFECT. IF DRIVERS ARE UNAWARE, OR IF THE DEFECT IS NOT RESOLVED, POWER STEERING COULD FREEZE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE LIFE THREATING SITUATIONS.

DRIVER'S SIDE POWER STEERING LEAK. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP DETERMINED A NEED TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK, PLUS FLUID AND A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. TOTAL COST OF PARTS AND LABOR WAS $1397.87. APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL, MAKE AND YEAR VEHICLE.

THE DEALER (AMERICAN TOYOTA LOCATED IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM) HAS ADVISED DURING A SCHEDULED SERVICE ON THE MINIVAN THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS LEAKING. THE CAR HAS 41124 MILES ON IT, AND THE ESTIMATED COST OF THE REPAIR IS $1093.00. I LOOKED THIS PROBLEM UP ON THE INTERNET AND IT SOUNDS COMMON TO THIS MODEL. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED, SO I WAS WONDERING IF IT WAS SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BE COVERED BY A RECALL.

The rear passenger side sliding door cable and motor assembly on the Toyota Sienna failed, causing the door to become completely inoperative (cannot open nor close) and the broken cable nearly cut my wife as it broke under tension and came flying out toward her as she was trying to close the door normally. The cable and motor had been replaced in 2015. The cable and motor on the rear driver side sliding door was also replaced in 2013 and 2017. The problem was confirmed by Woburn Toyota (dealer) and reported to the manufacturer. The manufacturer has confirmed the failure and safety defect, but refuses to provide repairs. No warnings were provided, no recall was issued, and customers were not notified of internal safety bulletin POL12-02 issued by Toyota.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: REGARDING CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM (ZTS): WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES ON CERTAIN 2004-2010MY SIENNA VEHICLES AND POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLY ON CERTAIN 2004-2007MY SIENNA VEHICLES. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT MY 2009 SIENNA SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION. A FEW YEARS AGO OUR CABLE SNAPPED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT MY MODEL YEAR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE ABLE ASSEMBLY ISSUE. I WAS QUOTED APPROXIMATELY $2K FOR THIS REPAIR. WELL, WITH THE CRAZINESS OF THE PANDEMIC, I DECIDED TO DO THIS REPAIR MYSELF. I PURCHASED THE ATTACHED PARTS LIST IN THE SCAN MYSELF. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE IMAGES: THERE ARE SCREWS MISSING AROUND THE PULLEY SYSTEM, THE CABLE CRACKED THE HOUSING AND PROCEEDED TO TEAR UP THE SOUND INSULATION. THANKFULLY THE CABLE DID NOT HARM ANY OTHER KEY AREAS OF THE DOOR. THIS BLATANT DISREGARD FOR THE 2009 MODEL YEAR IS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. I AM SURE THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.

BOTH SLIDING DOOR CABLES HAVE BROKEN UNDER NORMAL USE AND WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED BY TOYOTA. THE GENUINE TOYOTA REPLACEMENT CABLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAS BROKEN A SECOND TIME, INCLUDING DAMAGING THE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE PROPERLY AND TEMPORARILY TRAPPED MY DAUGHTER INSIDE WHO DID NOT KNOW HOW TO OPEN THE DOOR BESIDES USING THE DOOR OPEN BUTTONS AND HANDLE. ONE DAUGHTER WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CABLE SNAPPED AND IT NEARLY CUT HER NECK (IT CAME ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM HER NECK WHEN IT SNAPPED OUT OF THE TRACK). THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AT TOYOTA WHERE THE PLASTIC COATING BREAKS ALLOWING THE CABLE TO RUST. HAVING INOPERATIVE OR IMPROPERLY OPERATING DOORS CREATES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK, INCLUDING VEHICLE ENTRAPMENT AND INABILITY TO ENTER/EGRESS FROM THE NON-TRAFFIC SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. *TR

THE AIRBAG LIKE CAME ON AND HAS NOT GONE OFF. HAD MECHANIC CHECK IT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SQUIB CIRCUIT HAD A SHORT AND THAT IF IN AN ACCIDENT AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. DEALER SAID IT COULD COST UP TO $2600 TO FIX. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER SIENNA OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS TOYOTA NOT RECALLED THIS, BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR THERE FAULTY PRODUCT. NOW BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY EQUIPMENT I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE I CAN NOT AFFORD THAT KIND OF MONEY TO REPAIR.

Suddenly, the quarter panel window shattered (the window between the door and the back of the car) and the door came halfway off the track. It's important to note that this was not the window of the door I was struggling with and nothing visible hit the window. Luckily, my baby was not yet in his seat which is right next to the window. It is normal for people to struggle with a stuck door. If a non-visibly connected window suddenly shatters it is a significant safety risk.

THE CABLE IN THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR FOR THE MINIVAN BECAME FRAYED/RUSTED AND SNAPPED, CAUSING A LONG METAL CABLE TO BE HANGING OFF THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE (POSSIBLY COULD HAVE HIT OTHER CARS) AND THE DOOR NO LONGER WORKS. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY (CLOSING DOOR) WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE DOOR WAS HARD TO OPEN/CLOSE BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, AND THEN THE CABLE JUST BROKE ONE DAY. TOYOTA HAS A "WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT" FOR THIS ISSUE FOR MODELS THROUGH 2007, BUT ARE SAYING THEY WILL NOT COVER IT FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE IN A 2009 SIENNA, DESPITE EVIDENCE I'M FINDING ONLINE THAT MANY OF THE 2008S AND BEYOND ARE HAVING THE ISSUE.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR THAT THE SLIDING DOOR CABLE HAS RUSTED AND SNAPPED MAKING MY DOOR UNUSABLE. MY 4 YEAR OLD AUTISTIC SON WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE DOOR AND THE CABLE WENT SNAPPING AND FLYING BEFORE EVENTUALLY JAMMING UP THE MOTOR. IT WAS TERRIFYING. I HAD THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPEN WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR THIS YEAR. THIS CAR HAS 88K AND HAS HAD BOTH REPLACED FOR RUSTING THROUGH AND SNAPPING. WHAT IF THIS CABLE WHIPPED AND HIT MY CHILD? I WILL HAVE IT FIXED BY A LOCAL CAR REPAIR SHOP BUT IF THIS IS A KNOWN PART FAILURE FOR YEARS, WHY WOULD TOYOTA NOT MAKE A MANDATORY RECALL OF THIS FAULTY PART? TOYOTA DID HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS THAT THEY PUT INTO EFFECT AFTER THE PROBLEM BECAME PUBLIC BUT THEY PUT A TIME LIMIT ON IT AND MY VEHICLE STARTED HAVING THE ISSUE JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. IN FACT I HAD THE VEHICLE EVALUATED IN 2017 DURING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD AND WAS TOLD IT DID NOT QUALIFY BECAUSE I APPARENTLY WAS TAKING CARE OF MY VEHICLE TOO WELL. THE CAR HAD AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM AFTER 5000 MILES. FIRESTONE ALWAYS ALIGNED THE WHEELS BUT 1 WENT THROUGH 3 SETS OF TIRES. THE CAR WOULD SPEED UP THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THE BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK BUT THEY JUST DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. I NOTICED THE DAY AFTER I DROVE THE RAV4 THE DIFFERENCE FORM THE SIENNA. THE RAVE 4 ALSO JERKS SOMETIMES WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL.

OIL COOLER LINE FAILURE: WHILE DRIVING ON A STATE ROUTE IN A RURAL AREA MY OIL COOLER LINE RUPTURED IN MY 2009 TOYOTA SIENNA, RESULTING IN MAJOR LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, THUS BEING STRANDED IN A RURAL AREA AND REQUIRING A TOW. THE METAL OIL LINE WAS CONSTRUCTED WITH A SECTION OF RUBBER IN THE MIDDLE WHICH DETERIORATES AND FAILS. TOYOTA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS, AND FIRST CHANGED THE RUBBER COMPOSITION IN A REPLACEMENT PART BUT THIS PART STILL HAD A SIGNIFICANT FAILURE RATE. SO THE CURRENT REPLACEMENT IS ALL METAL LINE. WHY WOULD YOU HAVE A RUBBER SECTION IN AN OIL LINE? OBVIOUSLY THE FIRST TWO DESIGNED PARTS WERE A VERY POOR DESIGN. TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SIENNAS FOR 10 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES BUT THIS HAS SINCE EXPIRED. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHY EXPIRE A WARRANTY IF THE VEHICLE IS STILL WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE WARRANTY (10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES)? TOYOTA SAYS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. BUT AS A RETIRED CORPORATE SAFETY MANAGER/ENGINEER WITH A MAJOR TIRE MANUFACTURER I DISAGREE. THERE ARE POTENTIAL FIRE ISSUES FROM OIL BEING SPRAYED ON A HOT ENGINE/EXHAUST, A ROADSIDE ACCIDENT POTENTIAL ESPECIALLY IF YOU SUDDENLY LOST OIL WHERE YOU COULDN'T PULL OFF AND THE MOTOR SEIZED, AND A SECURITY ISSUE DEPENDING ON WHEN AND WHERE YOU BREAK DOWN. WE WERE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING PLACE AT THE HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE WALMART. THE VAN ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, THEN THE BRAKES FAILED. NO AMOUNT OF PRESSURE WOULD STOP THE VAN. WE STOPPED BY HITTING A PARKED CAR, DOING SOME DAMAGE TO IT. WE HAD THE VAN TOWED TO A BODY SHOP TO HAVE THE EXTERIOR REPAIRED. WE WERE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. MY 2009 TOYOTA SIENNA WON'T UNLOCK! WHEN I USE BOTH MY REMOTES, IT WILL ONLY OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR. EVEN WHEN I OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR, AND TRY TO USE THE UNLOCK BUTTON TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK. I HAVE TO PHYSICALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS, INCLUDING THE SLIDER DOORS. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE, AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHY IT IS DOING THAT. RECENTLY THE SLIDER DOORS STOPPED OPENING! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC WHEN A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT END OF THE CONTACTS VEHICLE. THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN AND THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED LACERATIONS TO THE FOREHEAD WHEN HIS HEAD STRUCK THE DASHBOARD. THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED SEAT BELT BURNS ACROSS THE CHEST. THE DRIVER RECEIVED BURNS AND BRUISES TO THE CHEST. THE MANUFACTURED WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. ON JULY 29, 2010 AT 5PM MY WIFE PARKED HER CAR IN FRONT MY HOUSE ON COLESVILLE ROAD, FACING THE ROAD APPROXIMATELY 23 FEET FROM THE SIDEWALK AND 30 FEET FROM THE STREET. I HAD BEEN ASKED BY MY WIFE TO DRIVE TO THE AIRPORT. WE CLOSED THE DOORS, PUT ON THE SEAT BELTS, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND SHIFTED THE GEAR SHAFT TO DRIVE. THEN I RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE, THE CAR START ROLLING SLOWLY BY THE TIME I WAS MOVING MY FOOT TO THE GASOLINE PEDAL GENTLY, THE CAR KEPT ROLLING , THE GAS PEDAL FAILED TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE. UNTIL I REACHED THE RIGHT LANE FROM THE SECOND LANE, I SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRAL THE CAR SLOWED AND PUSHED THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. THEN I CHANGING TRANSMISSION TO THE PARKING POSITION. THE WHOLE TRAFFIC STOPPED, THEN I TRIED AGAIN TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION TO DRIVE AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL WHICH RESUMED ITS FUNCTION AND THE BRAKE TOO. WHEN I ENTERED COLESVILLE ROAD THE TRAFFIC WAS RUSHING, SPECIALLY ON THE FIRST LANE WHERE FIRST LANE CAR APPROACHING MY CAR, THE DRIVER STARTED HONKING AND SWERVED DRASTICALLY AROUND MY CAR TO THE SECOND AND THIRD LANE TO AVOID HITTING ME. I WISH TO REPORT TWO SEPARATE GAS PEDAL INCIDENTS INVOLVING MY 2009 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE VAN THAT OCCURRED ON THE SAME DAY. ON THIS DAY, I MADE A TRIP FROM MY RESIDENCE TO A LOCAL GOLF COURSE AND ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER I RETURNED TO MY RESIDENCE. ON MY WAY TO THE GOLF COURSE, I WAS TRAVELING IN A HOUSING AREA AT ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN BUT THE CAR CONTINUED AT THE SAME OR SLIGHTLY FASTER SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH. THE CAR SHOULD HAVE EASILY SLOWED DOWN BECAUSE AT THIS TIME I WAS GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE IN THE ROAD. I HAD TO FIRMLY APPLY MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR AND I IMMEDIATELY PARKED THE CAR WITHIN ABOUT 200-300 YARDS OF THE INCIDENT. ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER, I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO MY RESIDENCE. I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THEN STARTED TO DRIVE TO OUR RESIDENCE (WE HAVE A RENTED UNIT IN A GATED RESIDENTIAL AREA) AT THE POSTED SPEED OF 15 MPH. AS I REACHED 15 MPH, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPEED UP TO ABOUT 25 MPH. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY APPLY THE BRAKES AND I ALSO DOWNSHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION TO 1ST GEAR. I PARKED THE CAR BUT DID NOTICE, BEFORE I TURNED THE KEY OFF, THAT THE ENGINE RPMS IN THE STOPPED POSITION WERE ABOUT 1000 TO 1100. IT WAS NOT AT THE IDLE SPEED OF ABOUT 700 RPMS WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHEN STOPPED. SOMETHING PREVENTED THE ACCELERATOR FROM RETURNING TO NORMAL. THESE TWO EVENTS BOTH OCCURRED ON SATURDAY MARCH 6, 2010. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA OF THE DESERT DEALERSHIP IN CATHEDRAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, ON MONDAY MARCH 8, 2010. THEY CHECKED THE CAR OVER AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WE ALSO TOOK A TEST DRIVE WHICH WAS EQUALLY UNEVENTFUL. OUR 2009 SIENNA MAY HAVE HAD A SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR WAS PUT INTO REVERSE, A SUDDEN ACCELERATION SENT IT DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY. SITUATION: PULLING INTO THE CARPORT, WHICH INVOLVES A 90 DEGREE TURN AT THE TOP OF A SHORT (10M) STEEP NARROW WALLED EASEMENT, THE DRIVER OF THE SIENNA COULD NOT MAKE THE TURN IN ONE MOTION AND WAS REQUIRED TO PUT THE SIENNA IN REVERSE AT WHICH TIME THE MINIVAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, SQUEALING ITS WHEELS. THE RESULT WAS A 5M CAREEN DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE RESULT WAS ABOUT $4,000 BODY DAMAGE, BUT NO INJURY TO THE DRIVER OR MY 2YR OLD DAUGHTER - ALTHOUGH ALL WERE SHAKEN. I'VE SEEN THAT TOYOTA IS RECALLING MANY VEHICLES BECAUSE OF LOOSE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORMATS, BUT NOT THE SIENNA MINIVAN. AFTER I HEARD ABOUT THE PROBLEM I NOTICED THAT BOTH CLIPS HOLDING THE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT BACK HAD COME LOOSE AND THE MAT HAD SLID SEVERAL INCHES TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE.
