BROUGHT CAR IN FOR AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. WAS TOLD IT WAS COMPLETED. AFTER THIS RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL MAILING FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. CALLED THE TOYOTA RECALL RESOLUTION TEAM NUMBER TO VERIFY. WAS TOLD THAT A TEMPORARY AIRBAG WAS INSTALLED AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE GOOD ONE REINSTALLED WHEN THEY GOT THEM IN. SHE CALLED THE DEALER TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT THEN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF AND A NEW AIRBAG WAS NOT NEEDED. AND STATED THAT SHE WAS CONFUSED. AND THAT I NEEDED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET A WRITTEN STATEMENT THAT THE WORK WAS DONE. I NOTICED AND EXPLAINED THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A SUBSTITUTE WAS MADE AND THE RECEIPT SAYS : 'BAG 0.8. 2007-2009 YARIS HATCHBACK 2007-2009 YARIS SEDAN'. SO IT LOOKS LIKE A TEMPORARY SUBSTITUTE WAS MADE AND THAT I WAS NOT INFORMED. I SAID THAT IF THEY GIVE WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION THAT THE REPAIR WAS MADE IT MAKES IT LEGALLY THEIR RESPONSIBILITY BUT THIS WOULD BE AFTER THE FACT IF A PROBLEM OR FATALITY WOULD OCCUR AND NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE OF ASSURING THAT A PROPER AIRBAG HAD BEEN INSTALLED. CAN YOU GIVE CLARIFICATION AND SUGGESTED FOLLOW UP (POSSIBLY THIRD PARTY) TO GUARANTEE SAFETY?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, IT WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, DROVE OFF THE HIGHWAY, AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LANDED UPSIDE DOWN. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED VIA AMBULANCE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO SEEING A CHIROPRACTOR. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. POWER SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE, WHEN PARKED. BEGAN TO MAKE CLICKING NOISES WHEN TRYING TO OPEN OR CLOSE DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN COMPLETELY AND IT WOULD NOT LATCH PROPERLY. CABLE BECAME FRAYED AND BROKE AND WAS DANGLING FROM DOOR. WHEN WE WENT TO HAVE IT FIXED, THE QUOTED US $1200 TO FIX IT, SO WE OPTED TO CUT IT AND USE IT MANUALLY. WHEN USED MANUALLY, THE DOOR IS OFTEN UNSAFE BECAUSE IT SLIDES RAPIDLY AND ONCE CLOSED ON OUR DAUGHTER'S HAND.

SARA CALLED FROM TOYOTA AND SAID SHE CAN ONLY SCHEDULE AT THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT IS JAN 16 2019. PER SAFERCAR.GOV SITE "IF THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED OR IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THIS SAFETY RECALL FOR YOUR VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER, PLEASE CONTACT THE NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT: 1-888-327-4236 OR TTY: 1-800-424-9153 OR FILE AN ONLINE COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. We have had problems with our 2011 Sienna's electromagnetic coupling and the rear differential. Through my research, I have learned this is a very common problem with the Toyota Sienna. Appears the same problem occured in the RAV4 and a recall was issued, however an recall was not issued with the Sienna. The repair is very expensive, upwards for $4,000 and we had two electromagnetic couplings fail. Are there any potential action items we can take with Toyota. Kind regards,

Vehicle has a whining grinding noise, after having it serviced at Toyota Dealership, the finding has been a known issue for a few years: Rear Differential Viscous Coupling gone bad. If this is the same set up as the Toyota Rav and they issued a recall on it, What is the issue with not calling it for the Sienna's, especially when its a very known problem? Its a complete RIPOFF to the public, and something truly must be done. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the rear differential was making an abnormal whirling and grinding sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

Vehicle began 'whirring' metal noise from underneath. Local mechanic said it was coming from rear differential. I took it to a Toyota dealer, they said rear differential coupler needs replacing ($2159) and drive shaft ($992). It seems the bearing ring inside this sealed unit has failed. Noise is continuous while driving, concern of part failure - we are taking vehicle on family vacation. Researching on - line it appears to be common problem with the Sienna's. Toyota had same issue with RAV 4's and issued recall but have not for the Sienna's. I called Toyota corporate in TX (got up 3 levels) to no avail, and it curt tone, they said they cannot help. Based on other similar stories on line from other Sienna owners, this seems to be a common very expensive design flaw problem with this vehicle.

MY 2012 TOYOTA SIENNA RECENTLY BEGAN MAKING A LOUD WHINING NOISE FROM THE REAR AXLE AREA. UPON INSPECTION, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT WAS FAILING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WOULD COST US BETWEEN $2,500-$3,000. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SIENNA, LIKELY CAUSED BY A DESIGN FLAW. THE SAME UNIT WAS USED ON THE RAV-4, AND AFTER SIMILAR PROBLEMS SURFACED IT WAS RECALLED AND FIXED BY TOYOTA. GIVEN THE DANGER POSED BY FAILURE OF THIS PART TO A FAMILY VEHICLE, AND THE KNOWN EXISTENCE OF THE PROBLEM BY TOYOTA, IT SEEMS OBVIOUS THAT IT SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY RECALLED AND FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

The battery light came on suddenly and the power steering went out making it extremely difficult to steer the vehicle. An accident was narrowly avoided. We replaced the battery, alternator, and serpentine belt. The problem resolved for over 6 months, then reappeared. It starts with no issue, is charging properly, the serpentine belt is intact. The power steering will come on and go off sporadically, the only warning being the battery indicator on the dash that comes on first. This creates a substantial hazard and risk as the steering is severely impacted with little warning.

My wife let me know that when turning to the right (not an aggressive turn, but a normal turn from one lane to the next), the whole electrical system of the minivan would shut down and then come back on. I had a mechanic check it out and they say that this is due to the electrical steering system and will have to be replaced by the dealer. He was able to reproduce the same condition where he was able to get the minivan to lose power when changing lanes. He STRONGLY advised that we should have the vehicle towed to the dealer as he felt that it wasn't safe to drive due to this. I feel that this will end up causing a lot of crashes and also that this should be covered by the manufacturer under a recall.

2012 TOYOTA SIENNA DEVELOPED A "CLUNK" IN STEERING SYSTEM WHILE TURNING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE CLUNK CAN BE FELT THROUGH BOTH THE STEERING WHEEL AND FLOOR. THIS IS CAUSED BY A WELL-KNOWN SAFETY PROBLEM TOYOTA HAS HAD WITH SEVERAL OTHER MODELS INCLUDING RAV4, HIGHLANDER, AND CAMRY (SOME OF WHICH HAD RECALLS). TOYOTA IS PUSHING THE COST OF THEIR MISTAKES ON ITS CUSTOMERS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, ALONG WITH OTHERS, WITH TOYOTA.

STEERING KNOCK IS EXPERIENCED AT SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 35MPH AND LESS WHENEVER STEERING LEFT OR RIGHT. THIS CONDITION WAS FIRST NOTICED AT APPROXIMATELY 80K MILES AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE NEXT 50K MILES. THE KNOCK IS NOT ONLY FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL, BUT IT HAS BECOME AN AUDIBLE NOISE AS WELL. I'VE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WHERE DEALERS HAVE FIXED THIS KNOWN PROBLEM, HOWEVER I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY RECALLS ON THIS OR ANY INFORMATION FROM TOYOTA STATING THAT THIS IS A KNOWN CONDITION AND IS SAFE TO CONTINUE OPERATION. UNTIL TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGES THIS AS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND DETERMINES WHETHER OR NOT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THEN I'LL CONTINUE TO OPERATE MY 2012 SIENNA WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT IT IS SAFE TO OPERATE AND JUST PUT UP WITH THE KNOCK. IT WOULD CERTAINLY BE GREAT IF TOYOTA WOULD AT LEAST PUT ITS CUSTOMER'S MIND AT EASE BY AT LEAST MAKING A STATEMENT ABOUT THE CONDITION AND WHETHER IT IS SAFE TO CONTINUE OPERATION OF VEHICLES WITH THIS CONDITION.

THE VEHICLE MADE THUMPING / POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING STEERING - MOSTLY TURNING LEFT, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVE TO LEFT TURNS. THE SOUND WAS RECOGNIZABLE MORE DURING LOWER SPEEDS, AND LESS NOTICEABLE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THIS WENT ON FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS, AND FEARING SAFETY ISSUES AND LOSS OF STEERING, I GOT IT FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING MID-SHAFT AND HAD TO PERFORM THE ALIGNMENT AT A COST OF APPROX $650. IT HAS BEEN 3 WEEKS SINCE, AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT OCCURRED AGAIN.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2012 Toyota Sienna. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 48,230. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 241,080.

2013 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN THE POWER DOORS NO LONGER CLOSE AND OPEN PROPERLY, THEY ESSENTIALLY STICK, AND WE HAVE TO MANUALLY GET OUT, AND SLAM IT SHUT WITH GREAT FORCE. THE CAR DOOR OPENED ONCE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. MY CHILD ON THAT SIDE WAS WEARING A SEATBELT, I PULLED OVER, AND HAD TO GET OUT TO SHUT THE DOOR WITH GREAT FORCE. FOR A LONG PERIOD, TOYOTA DIDN'T HAVE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN CALLING THE DEALERSHIP REGULARLY TO SEE IF THE "FIX" HAD ARRIVED. FINALLY, IN AUGUST I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD, AND THAT THE SOONEST THEY COULD FIX MY CAR WAS DECEMBER 27!!! THEIR RESPONSE HAS BEEN THAT THEY APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, BUT THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO GIVE ME ANOTHER CAR, OR COMPENSATE ME. I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN, ONE OF WHOM IS SPECIAL NEEDS.IN ORDER TO ENSURE SAFETY, I HAVE HAD TO DISABLE THE POWER FEATURE. I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH THE POWER FEATURE BECAUSE IT'S SOMETHING THAT WE RELY ON. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU KNOW TOYOTA HAS BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH OLDER MODELS, BUT OURS IS A 2012 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE LIMITED ALL WHEEL DRIVE MINI VAN. I PUT ON THE BRAKE TO LET MY WIFE OUT WHEN THE VAN TOOK OFF AS IF I HAD THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, YET MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. WE KEPT MOVING, SO I PUSHED THE STOP/IGNITION BUTTON AND THE VAN WOULD NOT STOP. I THEN PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE VAN WAS STILL MOVING, I WATCHED THE RPM'S KEEP GOING UP ON THE TACHOMETER. On 8/22/2022 I had to replace the 2 front tires with MIM-Supreme Tour 18 inch tire 235/55R18. On 8/22/2022 I had 162,323 miles on the 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE 4 months later and 17,252 miles driven - the 2012 Toyota Sienna now has 179,575 miles and on 12/28/2023 the 2 front tires again have to be replaced - Matrix Toyr RS 11 on 18 inch rims. Now its July 2024 - again 6 months and now 6,700 miles and just the front tires are bald and dangerous to drive if any moisture on the road. All these tires are slated for 50,000 miles and I and not getting even half the mileage. Most driving is on highways and regular maintenance occurs on the car. this car should be designed to go at least 25,000 miles ( so once a year ) on a set of tires. I do not drive fast nor aggressive.

WE REALIZED THAT OUR VEHICLE HAD A FLAT TIRE. WHEN WE WENT TO ATTEMPT TO PUT ON THE SPARE, WE NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE LUG NUTS HAD "SWOLLEN" AND NONE OF THE LUG NUTS WOULD FIT IN THE CORRESPONDING SOCKET. ULTIMATELY, THE LUG NUT CAPS DELAMINATED, AND IT TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO TEAR THE CAPS FROM THE NUTS. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MAKE SENSE TO CONTINUE USING LUG NUTS WITH DECORATIVE CAPS FOR AESTHETIC REASONS WHILE IMPACTING THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS WITH FLAT TIRES.

FRONT TIRES WEAR OUT TOO FAST ON THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED VEHICLE AROUND 60K MILES. NOW AT 130K AND ON 4TH SET OF TIRES. ALL MICHELIN/TOP QUALITY FROM COSTCO. ROTATIONS AT 5-7K RELIGIOUSLY. FRONT END SUSPENSION/STEERING IN GOOD SHAPE/PARTS REPLACED WHEN WEAR IS SEEN. ALIGNMENT GOOD. HORRIBLE. WEAR IS ON OUTER EDGES OF BOTH FRONT TIRES.

THE TIRES WEAR OUT TOO QUICKLY. TWO YEARS AGO I BOUGHT 70000 MILE TIRES AND AFTER LESS THE 30000 MILES ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE. THE ALIGNMENT WAS CHECKED AT THE DEALER EVERY 10000 MILES AND THE TIRES WERE ROTATED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE TIRES GET EXCESSIVELY WORN BEFORE THEY ARE EXPECTED TO. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING. I NOTICED THE EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THIS CAR JUST EATS UP TIRES.

TOYOTA SIENNA GOES THROUGH TIRES AT A RATE 1.5-TWO TIMES AS FAST AS THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS EXPECTED MILE WARRANTY. MICHELIN PRIMACY MXV4 (NOT A CHEAP TIRE) HAD A LITTLE OVER 40K MILES BEFORE THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED WITH CONTINENTAL TRUE CONTACT (90,000 MILE TIRE) AND I HAVE DRIVEN ABOUT 45K MILES ON THEM AND THEY ARE ONCE AGAIN IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. I ROTATE TIRES AT THE DEALERSHIP ON A REGULAR BASIS AS WELL AS KEEP THEM INFLATED AT THE RECOMMENDED INFLATION. VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD REGULAR ALIGNMENT CHECKS AND PERFORMED ALIGNMENTS. IN READING MULTIPLE FORUMS, THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE TOYOTA SIENNA THAT TOYOTA REFUSES TO CORRECT, NOT A TIRE MANUFACTURER PROBLEM.

The contact stated sidewalls on all four tires were expanding, causing the tires to bubble and bulge outwardly. The dealer was not contacted. The contact informed the tire shop where tires were purchased of the failures, and two tires were replaced. The contact was unsure what two tires were replaced. Costco installed 4 tires on my 2012 Toyota Sienna on 11/10/2021. The tire had 80,000 mile warranty. At the time of Tire installation, the mileage on my vehicle was 253,405. I did my tire rotations every 5000 mile at Suburban Toyota in Farmington Hills. I took the vehicle for tire rotation at 283,618 miles and the dealership refused to rotate the tires because the tread was below 3/32 seconds. I thought that this was a mistake and went again to rotate the tires at 288,789 miles. I went to Costco on the same day and told Costco representative at the counter [XXX] that the tire needs to replaced under warranty. I informed him that I drove only 30,000 mile on the tires. He checked all my mileage papers when I did the tire rotations. He went inside and talked to [XXX] (Tire section manager) and told me that the tire need to be under 2/32 seconds for Michelin Warranty to work. I asked him to arrange a tire rotation and scheduled the tire rotation on 12/20/2022. I took the vehicle to Costco on 12/20/2022. The mechanic called me after 30 minutes and informed me that the tire tread is under 2/32 second and cannot be rotated. I talked to [XXX] about it and he went to talk to [XXX]. He told me that the mechanic is going to rotate the tires and I can come back after one month to check the tires again. I informed [XXX] that he, Costco, and Michelin are playing with the safety of my family. He told me that Costco is not concerned about the safety of my family. If I am concerned about the safety of my family, I should change the tires without the warranty. I believe that Costco and Michelin are installing 30,000 mile tires as 80,000 mile warranty tires. I drive most of my driving on the freeway and on cruise control. So there should not be any issue with my driving. I got tires from Discount Tire Company before and had no issue like this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he third row passenger side split was stored and then put back up. Upon lifting the seats, pieces fell out (spring, washer, and screw) and the locking mechanism would not lock the seats into place. I am not sure how long these parts were loose, but it is a major safety hazard as the vehicle seat was not secured to the car as intended. We plan to to follow up with Toyota, but upon investigating, it seems that this is an issue for several 2011 Siennas. My Sienna was manufactured 4/2012. This is the smaller of the split seats, but out of an abundance of caution, we don't plan to use the 3rd row at all until a remedy is produced. Unfortunately, I saw only consumer complaints in regards to the 2011 3rd row seating issue and didn't see any solutions.

ON AUGUST 27, 2016 I WAS DRIVING OUR 2012 TOYOTA SIENNA ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. TRAFFIC WAS TERRIBLE AND I REAR-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. THE IMPACT WAS MINOR, BUT THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNT THE CAR TO THE FRAME. MY WIFE AND I WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE CAR BEFORE IT BURNED. WHEN I EXITED THE CAR, I TOOK MY KEYS WITH ME. HOWEVER, I WAS NOT ABLE TO OPEN ANY OF THE DOORS AND EVERYTHING I HAD IN THE BACK OF THE VAN BURNED. THANKFULLY, OUR CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR. IF THEY HAD BEEN, I WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO BREAK WINDOWS TO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THEM FROM THE CAR.

ALL UNDERWOOD COMPONENTS ARE NOT ONLY VULNERABLE, BUT ATTRACTIVE TO RODENTS. WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT ON 4 CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS, RODENTS HAVE CHEWED THROUGH WIRES DESPITE ATTRACTIVE RODENT POISON IN THE ENGINE BAY, THE POISON IS UNTOUCHED AND THE WIRES ARE ATTACKED EVERY NIGHT. TO DATE INJECTOR WIRES, SENSOR SIRES, FUEL PUMP WIRES HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED, INCLUDING SENSORS FOR THE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, WHICH IS DISABLED. I REPAIRED DAMAGE BY RUNNING NEW WIRES, CLEARING NESTS AND SET TRAPS AND POISON, BUT NOW THE THE FUEL SYSTEM HAS BEEN ATTACKED AND THE FUEL PUMP DOES NOT ACTIVATE. 3 OTHER CARS PARKED IN THE SAME LOCATION FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS ARE UNTOUCHED. SAFETY SYSTEMS ARE LIKELY TO BE COMPROMISED FOR ANY PERSON WHO MUST PARK THESE OUTDOORS.

THERE IS WARNING IN CENTER VIEW PANEL ALERTING ME THAT I NEED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR ABS, VSC AND BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING DAY I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTICE THAT THE SPEEDOMETER AND GAS GAUGE ARE NOT WORKING. THE SPEEDOMETER HAND IS MOVING BACK AND FORTH. THE PERSON SIT BEHIND THE DRIVER, PUSH THE AUTOMATIC VAN DOOR CLOSE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE DOOR THEN REACHED OVER FOR THE SEAT BELT. THE PERSON ACCIDENTALLY REACH THE HAND BETWEEN THE SLIDING DOOR AND DOOR FRAME RIGHT NEXT TO THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR CLOSE TO THE DOOR. THE DOOR CLOSED ON THE OPEN FINGER AND TRIED TO CLOSE EVEN TIGHTER. THE DOOR MECHANISM DID NOT REVERSE AND OPEN THE DOOR BACK UP, BUT CONTINUES TO TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR COMPLETELY. WE FIRST ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM IN WHICH THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT FUNCTION TO OPEN OR CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY BUT IT STILL WORKED MANUALLY. ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE REAR LATCH OF THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR BECAME STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION THUS NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO FULLY CLOSE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO GREASED THE LATCH AND ALLOWED IT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY HOWEVER THE DOOR WOULD STILL ONLY OPEN AUTOMATICALLY BUT WOULD OPEN OR CLOSE MANUALLY JUST FINE. DURING THIS TIME THERE WERE 3 INSTANCES WHEN THE DOOR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY OPEN WITHOUT HUMAN INTERVENTION BUT WHILE WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH CHILDREN IN THE REAR SEATS. TOYOTA AGREES THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BUT WILL ONLY SPLIT THE $1,200 BILL WITH US. BASED ON THE FACT THEY ARE WILLING TO HELP PAY FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF WARRANTY PROVES THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE YET FAIL TO ISSUE A RECALL AND PUT ARE WILLING TO RISK LIVES ESPECIALLY CHILDREN'S LIVES TO SAVE FACE. *JS
