Recall is not being addressed in a timely manner
Jan 30, 2026
We received notice of our 2025 Toyota Sienna second-row seat rails suspect welds in early December via mailed letter from Toyota. The recall notice was posted on Toyota's website on October 7, 2025. We called our dealership on December 13, 2025 and received no information other than the remedy was not available. It is now the end of January and as far as we can find there is no remedy. Toyota explained that our second-row seats are mounted on seat rails that may have been improperly welded. They "recommend no one sit in or use a child restraint in the second-row seats while the vehicle is moving until the remedy is performed on the vehicle." This impacts our ability to use our car fully. We purchased this vehicle for its capacity and can't take full advantage of this perk.

My 2025 Toyota Sienna Limited is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall25V668 (Toyota Recall No. 25TA12 (Interim Notice 25TB12)) regarding improperly welded second-row seat rails. The recall notice, which was mailed on 11/21/2025 and received by me the first week of December, 2025, states that these welds may fail in a high-speed collision, preventing the seats from restraining occupants and increasing the risk of serious injury. Toyota interim safety instructions advise that second-row seats should not be occupied until repaired. Prior to receiving this notice in the mail from Toyota I was unaware of the defect. There were no service lights or notifications in the car's electronic panel. I have since learned that the notice was issued on 10/7/2025. My vehicle has been grounded at Conicelli Toyota Service Department in Conshohocken, PA since 12/22/2025 - It has been inspected for this defect and to date the service department manager does not have the parts to repair it and cannot give me an expected date for the part to be available and repairs performed. I purchased this vehicle in full on 3/6/2025. Since the recall was issued on 10/7/2025, I have contacted my Toyota dealer several times to inquire on an estimated date for repair of this safety issue. I have also filed a complaint /report with Toyota Brand Engagement Center. As of 1/29/2026, Toyota has failed to provide a definitive date for the repair or a timeline for the availability of replacement parts. I purchased this vehicle to safely transport my four grandchildren -ages, [XXX] , [XXX] , [XXX] and [XXX] to and from school/daycare every day. Because I cannot safely use the second-row seats, the vehicle is unusable for its primary purpose of transporting my family. The vehicle has been effectively "out of service" for safety reasons for more than 90 cumulative days. I am asking a manufacturer buyback as the safety defect has not been remedied within a reasonable timeframe. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a dealership-provided loaner vehicle that had an open safety recall at the time it was issued to me. On Tuesday 1/20, I received a loaner vehicle from Beaver Toyota in Saint Augustine, Florida while my personal vehicle is being held due to a recall. The loaner was a 2025 Toyota Sienna. I was not informed of any safety recalls at the time the vehicle was provided. Late that evening, I discovered that the loaner vehicle had an active, unresolved safety recall listed as open through NHTSA. The recall was active while the vehicle was in my possession. After discovering the recall, I attempted to contact dealership management multiple times regarding this urgent safety issue. On 1/21, I contacted the General Manager through the dealership’s website. I also called the dealership on Wednesday at 1:37 PM and left a voicemail for the General Manager. I did not receive a response. On 1/22 at 12:24 PM, I called again and left another voicemail. I then followed up with an email requesting a return call due to the safety concern. As of this evening 1/22, I have received no response. Providing a loaner vehicle with an open safety recall, without disclosure, placed me and other occupants at unnecessary risk. I am requesting that NHTSA review this matter for recall compliance and appropriate corrective action.

I am submitting this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall on my leased Toyota vehicle and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a timely or reasonable remedy, resulting in ongoing child passenger safety risks. Toyota’s recall instructs that no one sit in or use a child restraint in the second-row seats while the vehicle is moving until the remedy is performed. This effectively prohibits use of the safest and recommended seating position for children. The vehicle is used daily for highway driving to transport my family, including three children aged [XXX] , [XXX] , and [XXX] old. Because of Toyota’s seating restriction, my [XXX] toddler must now sit in the third row. This prevents the driver from easily monitoring or comforting the child and has caused driver distraction during highway travel when the child becomes distressed, creating a foreseeable safety risk. Toyota states it is “preparing the remedy” but has provided no repair timeline. After multiple contacts and escalation, I was told it could take up to 60 days with no interim solution. Toyota suggested contacting dealerships for a loaner but advised that an equivalent vehicle was unlikely, availability was uncertain, costs might need to be paid upfront with later reimbursement, and the duration would be open-ended. This is not a reasonable interim safety solution while continuing to pay full lease obligations. I was also informed that returning the vehicle would require paying approximately $15,000 in negative equity, which I believe is unreasonable given that the safety defect and usage restrictions are due to a manufacturer recall. Toyota has not provided a repair timeline, a reasonable interim transportation solution, or a penalty-free way to exit the lease. I request that NHTSA review whether Toyota is meeting its obligations under federal safety recall requirements. The sunroof leaks. Took vehicle to dealership. Was told they saw drops of water around the light housing. This could cause an electrical malfunction which could be a safety hazard. They could not find the source of the leak. There are other 2025 Sienna owners talking about their sunroofs also leaking. Thank you.

The drivers side mirror vibrates causing distortion that makes it difficult to judge distances on highways. This issue seems to be a structural defect in the door not the mirror. Multiple people are complaining about this. Many have had the mirror replaced only to still experience the issue myself included. I have test drove two brand new 2025 Sienna and the issue was present there as well. It is very much a safety issue.

Wobbling vibration on exterior mirror, driver side. It looks like incoming vehicles shake sideways. This happens on any bumpy road and it is easier to observe at highway speeds. Also, every time I close the door, mirror shakes as it its loosely attached. Driverside mirror has too much play and shakes. There is no issue with play and shakes with passenger side mirror. Purchased on [XXX] Vehicle is available for inspection. The distorted image resulting from mirror wobbling affects driver's awareness of surroundings, visibility gets worse at nights/rain due to blurred lights. This can lead to an accident. My intuition when I first noticed was going to be a cold break, but I realized that it was the mirror wobbling causing it. The car coming behind was far enough and I was able to react. Summary of actions and requests to Toyota: I went to my dealership Crestmont Toyota, Pompton Plains, NJ and they have confirmed the play and wobble issue, however, they said it's the same thing with other 3 Sienna's they had on LOT. Dealership informed that this is how its manufactured and they can't do anything until TOYOTA issues a recall for this problem. First occurrence: Day one, driving back from the dealership. After very minor rainfall, my rear backup camera was not usable as water was dripping off of the edge of the door handle trim and it was getting on the lens. This is a complete design problem as there should be a drip edge. You made it very difficult to properly pull up at a gas station pump and I was unable to get close to the pump because of how the lens was obscured by the water drops.

Outer rear-view mirror on the driver side exhibits a vibration/shaking of the image. It is obvious and continuous vibration is observed typically on highway speeds of approximately 60mph or higher and lower speeds it is evident driving over slight bumps, concrete/asphalt road surfaces or bridges. Looking at the shaking image cause dizziness and it is even worse in night time with headlights from vehicles coming behind. It is annoyance to the point that makes you feel not to use the rear-view which can potentially put the vehicle and others in danger. Passenger side doesn't vibrate and makes it easy to notice the issue. Dealer inspected the mirror and said manufacturing issue and replaced it under warranty with no success is fixing underlying vibration issue. On the second visit, dealer denies the problem and says the mirror is replaced and operates according to toyota specification (it feels to us they do not care about the functionality). According to dealer they will do anything further only if Toyota release a TSB on this particular issue.

The drivers side exterior mirror shakes. This occurs during all driving, most notably over bumpy roads and at highway speeds. The passenger side mirror does not have this problem. Because of the shaking, it is distracting when driving as it appears there is movement in the mirror. Additionally, it causes a distortion from the constant movement. The vehicle was purchased in June 2025 and has occurred since day 1. The vehicle was in the dealer on 9/30/25 and noted the issue, stating there is nothing physically wrong with the mirror but did agree with the assessment. They said this is common on vehicles (they see the complaint a lot) but Toyota has not acknowledged it so there is no fix and appears to be a manufacturing defect.

Open recall with no anticipated date of being fixed. The second row seats are unsafe for passengers which makes the vehicle unusable for a family.
Jan 23, 2026
See recall above. We just spent $55,000 on this vehicle in order to safely transport and travel with our two year old and newborn. The fact that Toyota does not have a remedy available for this major issue is completely unacceptable. The recall notice states that our only current "remedy" is to not use the second row seats, which is not feasible since child safety seats only safely install in the second row. This so called "remedy" is absolutely unreasonable, illogical and irrational. It essentially renders our $55,000 vehicle unusable, which constitutes a significant financial loss for my family. I am making a loss of use claim - Toyota's response that it does not have a remedy available now for such a significant safety problem is outrageous.

The second-row seat rails on my 2025 Toyota Sienna were manufactured with improper welds that can fail in a high-speed collision, potentially causing the seats to lose structural integrity and increasing the risk of severe injury. Safety Risk and Hardship: Due to this defect, Toyota has recommended that no passengers sit in the second row and no child restraints be used in these seats until a remedy is performed. I have been awaiting a remedy for over 70 days, during which time the vehicle's primary utility as a high-capacity family transport has been compromised. This creates a severe accessibility and safety hardship, as I am unable to safely transport my family or use child safety seats in the designated locations. Forcing passengers into the third row, which does not accommodate three carseats side-by-side, is not a safe long-term alternative for our family, especially as at [XXX] pregnant, and soon to be postpartum with a XXX and two XXX in carseats. Reproducibility and Inspection: The safety defect was confirmed by the manufacturer (Recall numbers 25TB12 and 25TA12) and by my local authorized dealer upon notification. While the vehicle is available for inspection, the manufacturer has acknowledged the defect is due to incorrect weld machine settings at the factory. Symptoms and Warnings: There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the recall notification. The issue was discovered by the manufacturer during internal testing between July and August 2024 and publicly announced in October 2025. UNKNOWN Dear Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Consumer Affairs Department: I am writing to formally demand a full buyback and refund for the above-referenced 2025 Toyota Sienna (the "Vehicle") under the Arkansas New Motor Vehicle Quality Assurance Act (the "Arkansas Lemon Law"), Ark. Code Ann. §§ 4-90-401 et seq. The Vehicle is subject to a critical safety recall (25TA12, with interim notice 25TB12) involving improperly welded second-row seat rails, which poses a substantial risk to the safety of myself, my passengers, and others on the road. As of the date of this letter, Toyota has issued no remedy for this defect and provided no estimated timeframe for when a repair will become available. This renders the Vehicle unusable for its intended business purpose and out of service indefinitely, in violation of the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, as well as the express warranties provided with the Vehicle. Background and Defect: I purchased the vehicle on [XXX], new from Landers Toyota NWA, Rogers AR for $49,058. The Vehicle has been registered and primarily used in Arkansas since acquisition. On or about October 7, 2025, Toyota issued Recall 25TA12, notifying owners that the second-row seats in certain 2025 Sienna models, including my VIN , are mounted on seat rails that may have been improperly welded. This defect could cause the seats to detach during a crash, increasing the risk of injury or death. An interim notice (25TB12) followed, confirming the issue but explicitly stating that no repair remedy is currently available and no loaner vehicles or temporary fixes are being provided. Since receiving notice of the recall, the Vehicle has been effectively out of service for safe operation. I cannot, in good conscience, use this vehicle with a known safety defect that compromises occupant protection in the event of an accident. Toyota has failed to provide any repair, temporary solution, or estimated completion date, leaving me without a functional vehicle for commercial purposes. As of today, the Vehicle has been out of service for approximately 21 days due to this unresolved nonconformity, and with no remedy in sight, it will soon exceed the 30-day threshold under Arkansas law. Violation of Arkansas Lemon Law: Under the Arkansas Lemon Law, a "nonconformity" includes any defect that substantially impairs the use, value, or safety of the Vehicle (Ark. Code Ann. § 4-90-403(6)). The seat rail defect clearly meets this definition, as it directly endangers passenger safety and renders the Vehicle unfit for ordinary use. Ark. Code Ann. § 4-90-410(a) establishes a rebuttable presumption that Toyota has had a reasonable number of attempts to repair the nonconformity—and thus must provide a refund or replacement—under the following conditions, among others: (2) The vehicle is out of service by reason of repair, or attempt to repair, any nonconformity for a cumulative total of thirty (30) calendar days. In this case, no repair is possible because Toyota has not developed or authorized a remedy. However, the Vehicle is undeniably "out of service" due to the inability to address this safety-critical defect, and the indefinite delay ensures it will remain so well beyond 30 calendar days. Courts interpreting similar lemon laws have held that irremediable safety recalls qualify vehicles as "out of service" from the date the owner is notified, as the owner reasonably withholds use until the hazard is resolved (see, e.g., analogous interpretations under federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, 15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq., which supplements state lemon laws). Toyota's failure to provide a repair within a reasonable time triggers the presumption of a "lemon" under § 4-90-410(a)(2), entitling me to the remedies outlined in Ark. Code Ann. § 4-90-412. Additionally, pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. § 4-90-405, INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We were notified by Toyota that the second row seat rails had incomplete welds. Toyota recommended no one ride in the second row, and no child car seats should be installed in the second row. This greatly impacts the use and safety of the vehicle for our family of five. Additionally, the value of the vehicle has been impacted. Dealerships are not willing to give fair value for a trade-in because they know the vehicle will sit on their lot for an unknown amount of time before the repair is available. At this time (now 60+ days since the recall was announced), Toyota has not released the remedy and there is no timeline for the completion of these repairs.

I am writing regarding my 2025 Toyota Sienna, purchased in June 2025, which is currently subject to Safety Recall Interim Notice 25TB12 concerning unsafe second-row seat welds that could result in serious injury or death. I appreciate the professionalism and concern shown by Sparks Toyota in acknowledging the seriousness of this recall and providing a loaner vehicle while my Sienna is deemed unsafe to drive. However, the current loaner—a Toyota Highlander—does not meet my family’s needs and is not a reasonable substitute for the vehicle I purchased. We intentionally purchased a minivan due to our family size and lifestyle requirements. My daughter is a competitive gymnast, and we frequently travel with athletic equipment and multiple passengers. The Highlander is significantly smaller than a Sienna and cannot safely or practically accommodate our needs. Additionally, I am concerned that there is currently no repair solution or estimated completion timeline for this safety issue, leaving us indefinitely without access to a comparable vehicle. At this point, I am respectfully requesting the following: 1.Placement in a replacement vehicle comparable in size and function to a minivan (such as a Toyota Sienna or similarly sized vehicle). • If Sparks Toyota does not have an appropriate vehicle available, I request authorization for a comparable vehicle through an outside rental agency at Toyota’s expense. 2.Compensation for the ongoing inconvenience caused by the safety defect, lack of a repair timeline, and the inability to use the vehicle I purchased. 3.A clear estimate or update regarding when my vehicle is expected to be repaired and returned in a condition that is safe for my family. This recall involves a serious safety risk, and I believe it is reasonable to expect transportation that meets the same capacity and purpose as the vehicle I purchased—especially while awaiting a manufacturer-level remedy.

On [XXX], I purchased a new Toyota Sienna 2025 from Toyota Pasadena. The car has had frequent “check rear seat” and “check 3rd row seat” alerts everyday I drive. I have contacted Toyota Motors a few times since May, 2025, and visited Toyota Pasadena countless times to solve this error since April, 2025. After their “alarm specialist” checked my vehicle, they started to intentionally ignore my repair request. It seems Toyota knows the problem but couldn’t fix it in an easy and cheap way. Toyota Pasadena always insisted on me seeing their alarm specialist OFF THE RECORD, rather than accepting my vehicle for repair, so they can avoid Lemon Law punishment. When I contacted Toyota Motor a few times, they always pushed me back to Toyota Pasadena and ignored my request to have other dealers’ or the engineers fix my Sienna. I have been trapped in this endless fraud loop wasting time for a year. I have a [XXX] daughter. With this error not being fixed, I can’t risk putting my daughter and her seat on the rear seat. I was forced to buy another SUV, which created significant financial stress along with the stress of being pushed away between Toyota Motor and Toyota Pasadena over and over again. The bottomline is I need to make sure the rear seat is safe because my family’s lives are on the line. They shouldn’t intentionally hide the safety issue and forced me to accept the risk. It’s a new car in the original condition that Toyota Pasadena handed me. Everything on this vehicle was installed by Toyota Motor and Toyota Pasadena before it was handed to me. I already requested that if it's alarm bugs they cannot fix, they can remove the faulty alarm with a refund. I only want a safe vehicle. But they rejected me. The vehicle still makes random alarms and shows the “check rear seat” today and everyday. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When i am driving from high speed and trying to use my brakes, the whole rear car will start shaking around 48/45 miles per hour , I can hear our car seat from our baby how it makes vibrating noises and i can see my both door mirrors they're shaking too, and when it drops to 40mil per hour the shaking goes away. Went to the local Toyota dealer 3 times and they're saying that's normal. Very disappointed with a brand new car. We have another new car and doesn't do that for sure... Called Toyota national, open a case and they're saying, mechanic can't find anything wrong. They should drive this car for a longer distance and they will know for sure what I am talking about.

Vehicle has been reported and still pending to be replaced. Unkown when issue can be resolved. Passenger seat on the second row was stuck upon purchase. Dealer made aware. they claimed a sock was stuck on railing which was not possible as issue was reported before they could schedule for vehicle to be inspected. Such sock did not exist when incident was reported. Sock was not purchased until day before taking vehicle to schedule appointment. Tension is still there but agency said it is working properly.

I bought this van brand new. I quickly realized that the reverse camera view has some issues. I believe images are not clean and sharp, as it is supposed to, and has unreasonable amount of distortions. Cleaning the camera from outside didn't do anything. I also noticed that the bottom part of center blue alignment line is little bit to the right and not align with the top. I checked online and it appears that other owners are also suffering from this same issue.
