MANUFACTURER AND DEALERSHIP IS NOT RESPONSIVE IN TRYING TO REMEDY THE AIR BAG ISSUE. I'M RECEIVING MULTIPLE REMINDERS TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG RECALLS. I HAVE 2 OUTSTANDING ISSUES. I CALLED AUTONATION TOYOTA IN HAYWARD, CA. THEY SAID THEY'D CALL ME BACK AS THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PARTS. ALMOST 2 MONTHS LATER, I CALLED TO FOLLOW-UP AS THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT IT SHOWS IN THEIR RECORDS THAT THEY SERVICED MY VEHICLE AND REMEDIED THE ISSUE. The frame is so rusted in my truck my mechanic said it may snap at anytime and is not safe to drive. I know Toyota tundra’s from 2000-2003 have been recalled for same reason.

We are the first owner of this 2005 Toyota Tundra Limited with only 91K miles. The frame is rusted so badly that we are afraid to drive down the road. This rusted problem could cause potential harm or death to us and others on the road.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who determined that the vehicle might not pass a safety inspection due to the position of the holes and rust. The warning lights were repaired but the sub frame was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a frame shop, the frame shop declined to service the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about an Extended Warranty, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 139,000.

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the residence which caused damage to the fender. Toyota did an inspection for frame rust years ago, but mine is now rusting out I believe it should have been swapped at the time of the recall.

i recently purchased the 2005 Tundra I was instructed to take the Tundra to Westbury Toyota for inspection and they didnt even took at the truck they claimed according to the VIN is not eligible for any consideration from Toyota North North America The frame has recessive deterioration. We understand the truck doesnt have lifetime warranty but I am disappointed in Toyota's response

I purchased a 2005 Toyota Tundra for my son for his first vehicle. After taking it to a professional mechanic to be inspected I was told that the frame is rotted from rust and cannot pass inspection. After researching this issue i found that toyota had a recall on their frames because of how many and how bad the frames were. I believe this tundra rates the recall because of how bad the rust is. Any help getting this recall to fix this known issue with the rusting frames would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

The frame on this truck is severely compromised by rust. This is a well known problem with early Toyota Tundras, and Toyota issued a recall that ended with model year 2004, despite knowing that it was also an issue with 2005 and 2006 models as well. This is one of these trucks. This particular truck has large rust holes in the frame near the front driver's side wheel, and had multiple very weak spots that are on the brink of failure, all while the body and suspension components are in relatively good shape still. This creates a significant safety hazard. A Toyota dealership in Effingham, IL looked at the frame a number of years ago, but didn't do any work on it, claiming that it was not covered by Toyota's recalls or service bulletins.

Was told my truck would not be able to be inspected next year because of a rotting FRAME! This potentuly means I will not have a safe vehicle. I have not brought my truck to a dealer...but I must say I did have the same problem with my last truck a (Toyota Tundra) and it was taken care of and was PLEASED by the outcome, that is why I bought another of the same. I feel after spending the money a vehicle costs this is something the manufacture should remedy. With the cost of a new vehicle..it is almost impossible to buy. My truck is in good running condition along with being a great truck. If it weren't for the rotting frame I'm sure I would get many more years of service from it. The frames of Toyota trucks are known for rusting through and perforating causing the vehicle to be unsafe to own/drive. My frame is seperating and rusting through. The dealer "stated" they performed a treatment to prevent this deterioration from happening, however it clearly did not work. I have contacted the dealer to have the frame replaced under the safety recall but the are refusing since they said it was already attempted to be "treated". The vehicle is in excellent working condition and Toyota should honor this safety recall since it was a manufacturing issue that is causing these frames to fail prematurely. I do not feel safe driving my truck in the condition it is in but cannot afford to buy another since Toyota will not replace the failed frame.

UNCONTROLLABLE ACCELERATION: MY HUSBAND'S 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED WHILE HE HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT A STOP SIGN. HE HAD HIS BACK PUSHED UP AGAINST THE SEAT AND PUSHED AS HARD AS HE COULD ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE TRUCK TOOK OFF ANYWAYS AND HE WAS FORCED TO PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LUCKILY HE WASN'T HIT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THIS TRUCK. IN JANUARY OF 2015 HE WAS BACKING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN HIS TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED. HE PUT HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE TIRES KEPT SPINNING. HE PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND AFTER A FEW MORE SECONDS THE TIRES STOPPED SPINNING. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA AFTER BOTH OCCURRENCES, BUT THEY WON'T HELP US AT ALL. THEY SAY THAT THE TRUCK ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT IT'S NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.

MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER BECAUSE THE PLASTIC FAN IN THE SECONDARY INJECTION SYSTEM BROKE AND THE PIECES BLEW INTO THE EXHAUST PORTS AND MELT, STICKING UP THE EXHAUST PORTS. THE VEHICLE DOESN'T RUN RIGHT AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF A DESIGN PROBLEM. TOYOTA ACCEPTS THE PROBLEM AND HAS EXTENDED THE VEHICLE WARRANTIES FOR THE 2007-2010 MODEL YEARS, BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL YEAR. REPAIR HAS COST ME OVER $3,000 FOR THEIR MISTAKE. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR INDUCTION PUMP DESIGN FLAWS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC'S REPORT, THE SECOND AIR PUMP, SECONDARY AIR SWITCHING VALVE, BANK 1 AND BANK WERE REPLACED. THEY WERE ALL CLOGGED WITH INSULATION FOAM AND STUCK TO THE VALVE SEATS WHICH KEPT THE VALVES OPEN. THE SECONDARY AIR INLET WAS ALSO REPLACED, DUE TO THE HOSE BEING HARD BECAUSE OF THE HEAT UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, WHICH ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO THE ENGINE NOT BEING ABLE TO COOL PROPERLY. FURTHER RESEARCH ABOUT AIR INDUCTION PUMP DESIGN FLAWS ON TOYOTA VEHICLE REVEALED A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM AFFECTING TUNDRA'S UP UNTIL THE 2010 MODEL.

MALFUNCTIONING BRAKE SENSORS ON 2005 TUNDRA USES ABS TO OVERRIDE DRIVER'S BRAKING BELOW 10 MPH. THE DEFECT IS THAT "ABS" LIGHT DOES NOT APPEAR ON DASH TO INFORM THE DRIVER THAT HE DOES NOT HAVE FULL BRAKING AUTHORITY OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ABS KICKS IN. THE TOYOTA DEALER HAD DAMAGED THE BRAKE SENSOR WHILE REPLACING THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS. I DROVE THE SERVICE MANAGER TO WITNESS THE LOSS OF BRAKING CONTROL. THE BRAKE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND PROBLEMS SOLVED. BACK TO THE PROBLEM. I OVER SHOT A STOP LINE BY A FEW FEET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, I WAS THE FIRST ONE AT THE RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ABS KICKED IN, BUT ABS LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE TWO PEOPLE INJURED. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANYS AUTOMOTIVE BODY SHOP FOR INSPECTION WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74,645.

TOYOTA TUNDRA 2005 - WHEN BRAKING THE FRONT END SHUDDERS AND MOVES BACK AND FORTH. WHEN FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM WAS INSPECTED THE ROTORS HAD WARPED. TOYOTA ISSUED A 2005 REPAIR NOTIFICATION THAT BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPING BUT DID NOT POSE A SAFETY PROBLEM. TOYOTA RECOMMENDED REPAIRS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND BRAKE PADS. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL RESOLVE THE PROBLEM PER THE REPAIR NOTIFICATION. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHUDDER WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WITH POTENTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EVERYTIME I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN, THE BRAKES WOULD LOSE PRESSURE AND THEN THE CAR STARTS GOING THROUGH THE LIGHT, WHILE I AM STILL HOLDING THE BRAKES. THE WOULD ALSO LOSE PRESSURE TO WHERE I COULD NOT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A HOT DAY. PROBLEM WAS CONSISTENT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK. TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT AT FIRST. THEY HAD ME REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS, AND ROTORS AND BLEED THE LINES NUMEROUS TIMES. THIS STILL DID NOT WORK AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER/BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS ASSEMBLY IS ALL IN ONE SO THE WHOLE UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED COSTING OVER $2,000 FOR THE PARTS NOT INCLUDING LABOR. THE TRUCK IS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH ONLY 60,500. The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop and crashed into the vehicle ahead. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the air bags did deploy. The contact sustained injuries to his back, neck, right shoulder, and right clavicle. The other driver sustained injuries to his back and neck. The contact sought medical attention from a physical therapist but was unaware if the other driver sought medical attention. A police report was filed. The contact was able to park on the side of the road but then towed the vehicle to his residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. THE PARK BRAKE SYSTEM USES CABLES TO EXPAND THE REAR BRAKE SHOES. THE SHOES ARE EXPANDED USING A BELLCRANK AND BRACKET. WHEN THE PARK BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE CABLE PULLS THE BELLCRANK AND EXPANDS THE SHOES. THE BELLCRANK AND BRACKET USE A PIVOT PIN. THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY - BELLCRANK, BRACKET AND PIN SUFFER EXTRAORDINARY RUST. THE RUST CAUSES THE PARK BRAKE TO FAIL TO RELEASE. THE REAR BRAKES DRAG, AND CAUSE: * PREMATURE WEAR OF REAR BRAKES * LOSS OF FUEL ECONOMY * SHUTTER AND SHAKING FROM THE REAR * AVOIDING USE OF PARK BRAKE SYSTEM TO AVOID THE PROBLEM, FOLKS DON'T USE THE PARK BRAKE. NONE OF THE DRIVERS OF OUR TOYOTA TUNDRA USES THE PARK BRAKE BECAUSE OF THE THE PROBLEMS IT CAUSES. THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA TUNDRAS. GOT IN TRUCK, STARTED IT, BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED ON. WHILE DRIVING, BRAKES WERE SOFT. CHECKED BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, LOW ON FLUID. ADDED BRAKE FLUID, PUMPED BRAKES- PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. FLUID UNDER RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. HAD TRUCK TAKEN TO MY MECHANIC - BRAKE LINE RUSTED OUT, ALL ALL OTHER LINES RUSTED AS WELL. RECOMMENDED ALL GET REPLACED AS A SAFETY ISSUE. NOT ONLY RUST ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE- WAS IN THE TOYOTA CHASSIS RECALL- CHASSIS COATED WITH RUST INHIBITOR. DIFFERENTIAL RUSTED OUT- REPLACED AT MY COST. TOYOTA TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY. ALSO REPLACED THE HOOD RELEASE CABLE, EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE, AS WELL AS THE TWO CABLES SUPPORTING THE TAILGATE- ALL RUSTED OUT. REAR BUMPER RUSTED OUT TOO.

TOYOTA HAS EXTENDED ITS WARRANTY FOR THE AIR INJECTION PUMP AND AIR SWITCHING VALVES ON 2007-2010 TUNDRAS. THE EXTENSION IS FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES FROM FIRST USE. I HAVE A 2005 TUNDRA THAT HAS A FAILING AIR INJECTION SYSTEM. I AM WITHIN 10 YEARS OF FIRST USE. THE TRUCK HAS THE SAME AIR INJECTION SYSTEM AS THE TUNDRAS WITHIN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION, BUT TOYOTA REFUSES TO HONOR THE WARRANTY EXTENSION ON MY TRUCK. I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON WHICH, AFTER CHECKED BY A COMPUTER, WAS DETERMINED TO BE PART NUMBER 1445 (P1445). I RESEARCHED IT OUT AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TOYOTA TUNDRA 2005 MODELS, YET TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER THE COST NOR DID THEY CARE UNLESS I WAS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. P1445 IS FOR THE SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM VALVE #2 STUCK CLOSED. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN BE REIMBURSED BY TOYOTA FOR HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A PART THAT MANY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH? TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN REGARDING THESE PARTS ON TUNDRA MODELS 2007-2010 AND 2008-2010 SEQUOIA MODELS. MY 2005 TUNDRA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM. HOWEVER, MY TRUCK HAS THE SAME PART THAT IS ON THE 2007-2010 TUNDRAS AND HAS MALFUNCTIONED. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT TOYOTA HAS BEEN AWARE OF AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR THESE PARTS ON THE 2007-2010 TUNDRAS. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO INCLUDE THE 2005 MODELS IN THE SAME CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS, THEY HAVE SAID THEY WOULD PAY ONLY HALF OF THE COSTS TO REPLACE THEM. IF ITS THE SAME PART AS THE 2007-2010 THAT TOYOTA KNOWS WERE DEFECTIVE, THEN WHY NOT INCLUDE ALL MODEL TUNDRAS AND SEQUOIAS THAT HAVE THESE PARTS? THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT WAS EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS/150,000 MILES. I HAVE A 2005 TUNDRA THAT HAS A FAILING AIR INJECTION SYSTEM. I AM WITHIN THE MILEAGE RANGE OF FIRST USE . THE TRUCK HAS THE SAME AIR INJECTION SYSTEM AS THE TUNDRAS WITHIN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION, BUT TOYOTA REFUSES TO HONOR THE WARRANTY EXTENSION ON MY TRUCK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER. THE ENGINE REVVED LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO GO, BUT HAD NO MORE FORWARD MOMENTUM. THE SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WAS 50MPH. HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER AND THE ERROR CODE READ THAT IT IS THE AIR SWITCHING VALVE. ERROR CODES P-1442, SWITCHING VALVES ARE STUCK CLOSED, #2 IN BANK 1 AND #2 IN BANK 2 OF THE SECONDARY AIR INSPECTION SYSTEM. SAME ISSUE ON 2007-10 TUNDRA AND WAS RECALLED DUE TO DEFECT. MY TRUCK HAS THE SAME ISSUE, HAS UNDER 150,000 MILES, AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED. Ever since I got it 2 years ago the steering has not been right with random vibration from the steering wheel to feeling like im trying harder to make it go straight. And also a clunk at low speed turns/ vibration on freeway. I was told the rack was going so I replaced it with new poly bushings and tie rods. Helped a little but no, got new rims and tires and no difference still vibration on freeway. It's weird if I pull down on the steering wheel it makes it less worse. Also it feels like all this is wearing my power steering pump as it's the only thing covered in oil under my hood. I'm. Seriousy scared to drive it on the freeway cause of the over correcting and vibration. I only have 82k on it. When I got it from the dealership nothing was said. I'm the second owner.I still have the original rack but the problem is still there. Service was done by independent shop. Airbag stickers on passenger visor are gone and passenger airbag cover sticks out more the it should I think. I received the car facts from the dealership and nothing is in there for all the recalls. As the website says there are none pending. I would like to get a print out of ALL recall repairs if possible. I still have the car fax from them.

I HAD RECENTLY RECIEVED A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN LETTER FROM TOYOTA NOTIFIYING ME THAT "VEHICLES OPERATED IN COLD CLIMATES WITH HIGH ROAD SALT USE MAY EXHIBIT MORE-THAN-NORMAL CORROSION TO THE VEHICLES FRAME" "WHICH MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MORE THAN NORMAL RUST IN THE FRAME OF SOME VEHICHLES". THE DEALERSHIP ORDERED NEW GAS STRAPS AND ALSO DID THE INSPECTION WHICH RESULTED IN THE UNDER CARRIAGE BEING RE-SPRAYED WITH A CORROSION-RESISTANT COMPOUND. THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR FRAME RUST ISSUES. THE DEALER UNDER COATED THE FRAME IN-LIEU OF REPLACING IT, AS THEY HAVE DONE WITH SO MANY OTHERS. NOW I'M FACING A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH IN CRITICAL AREAS. THE MAJOR CONCERN IS IF THE FRAME SNAPS IN HALF WHILE UNDER HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND POTENTIALLY INJURING OTHER AND OR MYSELF. I own a 2005 Toyota Tundra 4dr. and in January of this year 2022 a recall was sent out on ‘Inadequate Hardness of Ball Joint Housing’. My Tundra is having ball joint problems meaning skeeking on the front wheels, vibrating until over 55 mph., and suspension problems. I called a Toyota dealership to get the truck fixed but they told me that back in 2007 the ball joints were already fixed. I shouldn’t be having this problem if the recall just came out. I’m trying to get this problem corrected on my truck without having to pay the $900 bill they want to charge me to fix it. Whst can I do ??

The frame has several holes in it. Toyota said they did the corrosion prevension on it and said the repair is out of warranty. The sway bar has broken free of the frame and there are several hole and flaking spots on the frame.

WE CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO BLEW US OFF, WE CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST, OTHER THAN TO TAKE DOWN THE COMPLAINT ON PAPER. THEY FOUND THAT THE WIRE CONNECTOR (15 PIN) THAT GOES FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE ECM WAS CORRODED AND THE PINS WERE BROKEN AND NOT MAKING CONTACT. ITS DESIGN IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. IT IS NOT PROTECTED AND IS LOCATED IN A PLACE WHERE IT IS EXPOSED TO ALL THE SALT AND WATER RESULTING IN THE PINS BEING CORRODED. 2005 TUNDRA FRAME IS RUSTED IN MANY PLACES. VERY BAD WHERE FRAME SECTIONS MEET AND NOW THE FRAME IS RUSTING THROUGH THE MAIN HORIZONAL FRAME ITSELF AS THE ATTACHED PICTURE INDICATES. I seen that Toyota were recalled for the frame issues on 2004 and up, mine is 2005 tundra with frame issues, like it’s sad, such a nice truck, but frame is horrible. Why is mine not being shown as recalled, but yet I have frame problems? I got my truck from a 1 owner who had it since new, it just hit 100,000 miles on it, it was serviced by Toyota dealership, I’m not sure why they didn’t do nothing with it over the years to help or fix the rust issue on the frame. It’s not just a little rusty, it’s really rusty, and it was garage kept too. Did they forget to include my vin number when they started the recalls? Doesn’t make sense why they would fix some and not all, all around the same years. Thanks Jim

THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK WAS RECALLED FOR EXCESSIVE RUST. THE DEALER SPRAYED ON A COATING PER THE RECALL IN 2013. THE COATING HAS ALL FLAKED OFF AND THE FRAME IS LOSING CHUNKS OF RUST. TOYOTA KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ONCE THEY SPRAY THE DEFECTIVE COATING ON IT. THE TRUCK FRAME NEEDS REPLACED AND THEY WON'T DO IT. TOYOTA TUNDRA FRAME RECALL - FRAME COATING APPLIED PER RECALL IN 2014. VEHICLE INSPECTED TWICE BY DEALER IN 2018 & 2019 AND VEHICLE DETERMINED TO BE OK. RECENTLY EXPERIENCED LOSS OF BRAKES AND CRASH INTO GARAGE. VEHICLE INSPECTED BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND FOUND 2 PERFORATED AND RUSTED BRAKE LINES. SCRAPING AWAY THE UNDERCOATING UNCOVERED OTHER CORROSION IN VARIOUS DEGREES. DETERMINED THAT SPRAY UNDERCOATING CAME WAY TO LATE AS TRUCK ALREADY HAD 9 YEARS OF CORROSION. UNDERCOATING ONLY HID THE PROBLEM. SUBMITTED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE RED SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND REMAINS LIT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO GIVE HIM A COMPUTER MODULE FOR THE SENSOR. THE COMPUTER MODULE WAS NOT REPLACED BECAUSE THE CONTACT WANTED ALL THREE SENSORS REPLACED, NOT JUST THE SAFETY BELT SENSOR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.

Frame corrosion through out the entire frame. Recently the steering rack broke away from the frame cross member. Now every time I turn the wheel there is a popping sounds and the steering feels loose compared to what it did before the sound accord. There is also a hole in the back of the frame behind the back tire. My attached tow package ripped sections of the frame and caused crack to extend towards the front of the frame. The fuel tank straps are also severely corroded.

I TOOK THIS TRUCK INTO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER ON JULY 09, 2015 AS PART OF A RECALL FOR A FRAME INSPECTION. THE MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS 295,801. THE DEALER SAID THE FRAME WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND APPLIED A CORROSION INHIBITOR AS PART OF THE PROGRAM. IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, (2020) I DECIDED TO INSTALL NEW BREAK PADS. WHEN I REMOVED THE WHEEL ON THE DRIVER SIDE, I FOUND A SIGNIFICANT HOLE IN THE FRAME AND CRACKING ALL AROUND THE AREA. IN APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS AND 17,000 MILES, THIS DEVELOPED. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE TRUCK IN THE WINTER FOR ABOUT 8 YEARS AS THIS BECAME A SECONDARY VEHICLE ONLY FOR SUMMER PROJECT USE AROUND THE HOME. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WEREN'T ANY PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION AND I WAS BASICALLY OUT OF LUCK. I RECENTLY TOOK THE TRUNK TO A FRAME & BODY SHOP AND WAS SHOWN MUCH MORE EXTENSIVE FAILURE IN THE FRAME ON BOTH SIDES. HE DETERMINED THE FRAME IS UNREPAIRABLE BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF ROT AND THE TRUCK WILL NEED A COMPLETE NEW FRAME. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IN 5 YEARS DRIVING, AVERAGING 3,400 MILES A YEAR THAT THE FRAME WENT FROM GOOD (AS THE DEALER DESCRIBED IT) TO BEING UNDRIVEABLE. TOYOTA NEW THE STEEL WAS BAD IN MANY OF THEIR TRUCKS AND SUV;S BUT HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR ALL THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE BAD STEEL AND LACK OF PROTECTION APPLIED DURING MANUFACTURING. I HAVE HAD TO PULL THE TRUCK OFF THE ROAD AS IT HAS BECOME UNSTABLE AND HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE.

IN 2014 TOYOTA WAS ALLOWED TO PUT A BAND-AID ON A PROBLEM THAT NEEDED A TOURNIQUET - APPLYING A RUST CONVERTER COATING TO A FRAME THAT, BECAUSE OF THEIR FAILURE TO MANUFACTURER IT PROPERLY, DESERVED REPLACING. I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA (CASE NUMBER [XXX]) THAT BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK THE BAND-AID THEY WERE NO LONGER LIABLE UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT FORCED THEM VIA FURTHER GOVERNMENT SAFETY RECALL ACTIONS TO DO MORE. MY HOPE IS BY WRITING THIS THAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN BE PROACTIVE AND SOLVE THIS SAFETY CONCERN BEFORE THEY HAVE TO COLLECT ENOUGH DEATH AND ACCIDENT STATISTICS TO TAKE NOTICE OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA, WHICH HAS THE ENTIRE FRAME ALL RUSTED. I ALREADY REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES AND DIFFERENTIAL BECAUSE OF THE RUST. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS RUSTED SO BAD THAT IT COULD FALL APART. THERE WAS A LIMITED CAMPAIGN FOR A RECALL ON OUR TUNDRA AND THE SPRAY WAS DONE IN 2015. OBVIOUSLY IT DIDN'T TAKE BECAUSE OF ALL THE CONTINUOUS ISSUES WE ARE HAVING. I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE OF TOYOTA AND OPENED AN CLAIM AND THE MANAGER I SPOKE TO REALLY COULD CARE LESS AND TOLD ME THAT ONCE THE WARRANTIES ARE OVER ITS NO LONGER THEIR (TOYOTA) PROBLEM. I REQUESTED A FIELD INSPECTION TECHNICIAN TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK . THAT REQUEST WAS DENIED BY THE MANAGER WHO STATED THAT HE WAS SPEAKING FOR TOYOTA. I ASKED FOR MY CLAIM TO BE REVIEWED BY SOME ONE ABOVE HIM AND HE STATED THEIR WAS NO ONE HIGHER THEM HIMSELF AND HIS DECISION WAS FINAL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY CAN'T LOOK AT THEIR PRODUCTS AND TELLS US IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. OBVIOUSLY THEY NEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE THE LIMITED CAMPAIGN FOR A RECALL. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN 2010 AND IT HAD A LOT OF CORROSION UNDERNEATH THEN. CURRENTLY HAS 50 K MILES. MY BRAKES ARE SQUEALING DUE TO CORROSION PREVENTING THE CALIPERS FROM MOVING AND THE WHEEL WAS CORRODED TO THE HUB AND IT TOOK A LOT OF EFFORT TO REMOVE IT. THE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS AND ALL THE COMPONENTS HAVE LOOSE LAYERS OF RUST. THE EXHAUST HEAT SHIELDS FELL OFF. THE SPARE TIRE RESTRAINT SYSTEM LOOKS TOO WEAK SO I REMOVED THE SPARE. I HAVE A TOYOTA TUNDRA 2005 THAT HAS HAD THE THROTTLE DRIVERS UPDATED. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 6 INCIDENCES OF UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. THESE INCIDENCES OCCUR AT SLOW SPEED IN MUDDY SITUATIONS. DEPRESSING THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. THIS OCCURS IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE AND I BELIEVE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE VSC AND SOFTWARE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE THROTTLE OR UNWANTED MOMENTUM IS TO THROW THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL. EVEN THIS DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY HELP. I RECOMMEND THE IGNITION KEY AS THE QUICKEST WAY TO STOP THIS. ADDITIONALLY, OUR COMPANY HAS A NEWER TUNDRA THAT IS GETTING FIXED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES DRIVING. SLOW SPEEDS IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE, IN MUDDY SITUATIONS THE TRUCK PUSHES YOU UNCONTROLLABLY. I WILL INVESTIGATE MORE ONCE THE TRUCK IS RETURNED WITH THE RECALL REPAIRS. LONG DELAY BETWEEN DEPRESSING "DRIVE-BY-WIRE" GAS PEDAL AND ENGINE RESPONDING. MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS AN ELECTRONIC GAS PEDAL. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR MAY EXPLAIN SOME OF THE CURRENT "SURGING" PEOPLE ARE SEEING IN OTHER TOYOTAS. THIS IS A 100% SOFTWARE PROBLEM (I AM A ELECTRONIC ENGINEER). DESCRIPTION: WHEN THE ENGINE IS AT IDLE, OR EVEN WORSE, WHEN YOU ARE DECELERATING AT IDLE POWER, AND YOU INCREASE THE THROTTLE POSITION OF THE GAS PEDAL, THERE IS A NEARLY 1-SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE ENGINE RESPONDS TO THE THROTTLE INPUT. IF THE DRIVER, NOT SENSING ANY RESPONSE TO THROTTLE, APPLIES MORE AND MORE THROTTLE DURING THAT ONE SECOND DELAY, WHEN THE ENGINE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE FINALLY DOES RESPOND IT WILL IMMEDIATELY GO TO THE HIGHEST THROTTLE SETTING THE DRIVER WAS SELECTING, CAUSING A HUGE LURCHING FORWARD ACTION OF THE VEHICLE. FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE DRIVER APPLIED THROTTLE IN THIS FASHION: 0SEC=5% THROTTLE; 0.25SEC=10% THROTTLE; 0.5 SEC=20% THROTTLE; 0.75SEC=35% THROTTLE; 1.0SEC=50% THROTTLE. THE ENGINE'S ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WILL RESPOND LIKE THIS: 0SEC=0% THROTTLE; 0.25SEC=0% THROTTLE; 0.5 SEC=0% THROTTLE; 0.75SEC=0% THROTTLE; 1.0SEC=50% THROTTLE. CAUSING THE HUGE LURCH AT 1.0 SECOND. THIS HAS BEEN ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHILE CHANGING LANES DURING STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF I AM RUNNING AT PARTIAL POWER/THROTTLE, THIS BEHAVIOR DOES NOT HAPPEN, AND THE GAS PEDAL RESPONSE IS PROPER. ONLY FROM IDLE OR DECELERATING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH THE ABS LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATING THAT THE BRAKES NEED TO BE SERVICED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE BRAKES SERVICED AND THE LOCAL MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND A ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES. ALSO THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR FLOW BUTTON THAT CONTROLS THE AIR INSIDE THE VEHICLE IS MALFUNCTIONING. MY 2005 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS IN FOR SERVICE THE MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS TRUCK SO I AGREED TO LET TOYOTA REPLACE MY BALL JOINTS (RECALL NO: 70B) AFTER THE REPLACEMENT WAS DONE THE VEHICLE STEERING BEGAN TO FADE TO THE LEFT AND THEN TO THE RIGHT I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT IT NEEDED A FEW ADJUSTMENTS AFTER DRIVING IT AGAIN THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED AFTER DRIVING THE TRUCK FOR A FEW MONTHS I FOUND THAT MY TIRES WERE WEARING DUE TO FEATHERING TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT ALSO THE VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO HOLD STRAIGHT IN LINE WHILE DRIVING WHEN I WOULD RUN OVER A SMALL DEPRESSION IN THE ROAD THE STEERING WOULD PULL ME IN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I DROVE THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER 08/06/2007 THEY DID A SERIES OF TEST BUT NOTHING WORKED. FINAL WORDS YOU JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. I HAD MY 2005 TUNDRA BED LOADED TO THE MAXIMUM ADVERTISED WEIGHT CAPACITY. ONCE I ENTERED THE HWY AND REACHED A SPEED OF 45 THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF CONTROL LIKE THIS. THE VEHICLE LEFT THE ROAD AND FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. THE CAB HELD UP GREAT AND EVERYONE WAS WEARING THEIR SEATBELT THEREFOR THERE WERE NOT SIGNIFIGANT INJURIES. ATLEAST ONE OF THE TIRES WERE OFF THE RIM BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THIS WAS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT OR A CAUSE.
