The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low engine oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle independently switched to Hybrid. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road, and the engine seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine had experienced oil starvation, causing the rod bearings and engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be rebuilt or replaced. The engine was being rebuilt but was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 44,186.

As I was drive home at 45 mph the vehicle started surging and then the engine started knocking. then I stopped the vehicle and called Toyota for a tow. The truck was towed to the local dealer (Sheehy Toyota) for inspection. upon inspection the motor has a bad knocking in the lower end of the engine. The truck is now in the shop getting the engine disassembled. believed to be a main bearing failure. The truck has 9,229 miles on it. light use and had the oil changed 500 miles prior by the dealer.

Vehicle hesitates and starts to lose power and stall while driving. Toyota will not take action even though a recall has been issued and a letter in hand.
Jan 08, 2026
I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my 2024 Toyota Tundra, which I purchased approximately five months ago. On two separate occasions while driving, the vehicle unexpectedly lost power. The first incident occurred while I was driving on the highway, which was extremely concerning from a safety standpoint. The second incident happened after I came to a complete stop and attempted to make a turn; the vehicle did not respond and had no power. In both situations, the power returned on its own moments later. These incidents raise serious safety concerns, especially given that the vehicle is relatively new. I am requesting a thorough inspection of the vehicle to identify the cause of this issue and ensure that it is resolved permanently. I would also like this concern documented in the vehicle’s service history. Vehicle Information: VIN: [XXX] Please advise on the next steps to address this matter promptly. Thank you for your attention to this issue. I look forward to your response INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

POWER TRAIN

Numerous times (4-5) the truck has failed to accelerate from a rolling stop and/or a full stop. One time recently, I stopped and quickly tried to turn left onto another road. As I accelerated, the engine lagged and the truck felt as if it would stall. In all instances, the transmission seems as if it has not downshifted into 1st gear... and appears as if it is stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and the engine struggles to keep up. No warning lights or messages appeared in any of the instances. I am taking it to the dealer for them to look at.

I was at a stop sign making a left turn across four lanes of travel. I had a gap in traffic with ample time to make the left turn so I pressed on the gas pedal to begin the turn. The vehicle did not move forward upon me pressing the gas pedal. After about one second the vehicle finally moved. At that point cross traffic was closing in so I pressed the gas pedal to the floor. The vehicle lurched forward and the rear end broke loose causing me to fishtail the vehicle while making the turn. This delay in acceleration put me and my family at risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. The delay in acceleration caused me to mismanage the throttle sending the vehicle into an out of control turn which could have resulted in a crash had I not been able to regain control. I presented this information to the dealership mechanic and they told me that’s just how the gas pedals work in the tundra. That is not an acceptable answer. I paid too much for this vehicle for it to not be safe to drive.
Jan 17, 2026
Extreme lag response from stop on numerous occasions causing vehicle to not move for well over 1-2 seconds. Seems to happen mostly within 5 mins of start up. Had to stop slightly out in intersections several times due to this lag not allowing me to proceed safely. It doesn’t sputter at all, it just doesn’t move
Jan 17, 2026
Throttle hesitation. Seems to be a widely experienced issue with many third gen tundra owners. Press the gas, expecting the truck to drive, but it just lags a few seconds, then will finally engage and begin driving. Has put me in some close calls in traffic.

When initially starting the vehicle, when at a complete stop, the vehicle lags when pressing the accelerator. It’s almost as if the vehicle doesn’t recognize that I’m pressing it at all and I have to reset my foot and start the process over. There is a slight incline hill that has a stop sign that I come to everyday after work and this happens maybe twice a week.
Jan 16, 2026
Vehicle consistently exhibits throttle lag from a stop. It is almost like the engine is not responding to the throttle input. This condition is unsafe when pulling into oncoming traffic as the vehicle does not accelerate and then lurches out into traffic as it finally responds to the throttle input
Dec 20, 2025
Throttle hesitation from a stop, when pressing the accelerator truck does not move then suddenly will accelerate. This can cause delay when pulling in or out of intersections / traffic making it a safety hazard as the driver is not in control of the vehicle as it is random when it occurs. Multiple other vehicle owners of the same make model of this year and others of the same generation have made the complaint and nothing has been done to solve this issue.
Dec 13, 2025
There is acceleration lag with my truck. Primarily happens when pulling into traffic which dangerously slows the vehicle down in traffic.
Dec 12, 2025
My vehicle is subject to multiple recalls, including a serious safety recall. On November 6, 2025, Toyota issued NHTSA Safety Recall 25V767 stating that the engine may stall during driving, creating a crash risk. As of today, no repair remedy has been made available. Because of this safety risk, I stopped driving the vehicle. The issue has not occurred because I discontinued use out of safety concerns. An earlier recall, NHTSA Recall 25V322 issued on May 15, 2025 regarding reverse lamps becoming inoperable, also remains unresolved with no available remedy. Toyota acknowledged the safety concern by authorizing a rental vehicle. I am concerned about the lack of a repair timeline and the safety of this vehicle.

2024 Toyota Tundra is parked on an semi-inclined driveway. The fuel gauge and miles to empty resets back to full and the miles to empty at the max around 420 miles back to empty. Reported this incident when the mileage was around 300 to the dealership and nothing was done. A year forward I am still having this fuel gauge and miles reset issue. This is a safety hazard primarily due to the risk of unexpectedly running out of fuel. While the inaccurate reading itself doesn't directly damage the engine, running out of gas can lead to several problems. It's important to address a malfunctioning fuel gauge promptly.
Jul 11, 2025
Gas gauge randomly reset to full tank after parking, despite being less than half full. Without me noticing, this could have caused risk of running out of fuel due to erroneous computer information about the fuel level.

Purchased new in 2024. since ownership, Ive experienced throttle lag. Especially from the stopped position. I have also experienced occasional stalling for no apparent reason. Dealership has noted issues I have mentioned. vehicle now has 32000 miles and issues continue .Delaership has been unable to remedy either situation
Jan 17, 2026
When starting from a very slight rolling stop I sometimes get no throttle response at all. When this happens i end up applying more throttle and I still do not move. Then after a second or two the truck takes off like a rocket. This usually happens at an intersection with the steering wheel turned one way or the other. Not sure if this is an engine or transmission issue or both.
Jan 17, 2026
Throttle hesitation and loss of power when transitioning from stop to start risking accident when pulling into traffic. Problem occurs all the time.
Dec 15, 2025
The vehicle experiences throttle lag/hesitation when going from a stop. At stop lights or when at a complete stop when you apply gas there is a good amount of hesitation before the engine moves. I found this is dangerous because the warmer the vehicle is the more I expirience it. Very concerning when trying to move out of traffic, when making left and right turns at intersections. There has not been an accident yet but it is a ticking time bomb.
Dec 03, 2025
I am writing to formally document a series of serious safety incidents and ongoing concerns regarding my 2024 Toyota Tundra, which I believe reflect a critical design flaw and a failure by Toyota to act in accordance with its obligations to customer safety and product reliability. In August 2025, while driving on the interstate with my minor child in the vehicle, I experienced a sudden and unexpected engine malfunction. The failure required me to swerve off the road at high speed, nearly resulting in a serious collision. This incident placed both my life and my child's life in immediate danger. The vehicle was towed via Toyota’s SOS service to Green’s Toyota of Lexington, KY. Upon evaluation, I was informed by Service Manager Justin that the issue was consistent with the engine failures that led to a recall of the 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra models. However, because my 2024 model has not yet been included in the recall—despite sharing the same apparent defect—I was told that Toyota would rebuild the engine rather than replace it. I expressed strong concerns regarding the safety and long-term reliability of a rebuilt engine in a new vehicle. I was reassured that a rebuilt engine would be “just as good,” despite clear evidence to the contrary based on subsequent events. As a result of this dangerous failure and Toyota’s inadequate response, I submitted a formal buyback request to Toyota Customer Care, citing serious and ongoing safety concerns. The dealership nevertheless indicated I would likely be denied a buyback, which I found deeply troubling given the known defect and the high-risk circumstances involved. During the initial repair, I visited the dealership to retrieve personal belongings and observed the vehicle in a completely dismantled state. The cab had been removed, and the engine was fully disassembled with parts scattered on the ground. This unprofessional and chaotic environment caused further loss of confidence in the repair quality and safety of th

Throttle lag/hesitation. When pressing the gas pedal from a stop nothing happens for more than 5 seconds or longer. There is significant lag before the vehicle will accelerate.
Jan 06, 2026
When coming to a stop and then trying to accelerate to turn into a street I get an abnormal amount of throttle lag. There’s even times it seems to lag and then registers that I am trying to accelerate quickly causing me to “burn out” while I’m turning and no I am not accelerating crazy. There’s been a few close calls where I almost lose control of the vehicle.
Dec 30, 2025
There is a severe throttle lag that is random. It has caused near collisions due to the response time. The truck will also randomly jerk forward. I reported it to dealer and they said it was normal and to drive the truck in sport mode. This not a solution and will cause an accident if not resolved soon
Dec 19, 2025
WhenThe truck is on cruise control and there is a need to pass a vehicle in the freeway; I lightly accelerate push the pedal then there is no response ( the vehicle hesitates for a second or two) ; and suddenly the engine revs up (and jerks the truck) and slams the transmission to start accelerating. I looked up this issue and realized that may be a common issue. this has happened in several occasions since I bought the truck last year, I drive my truck very carefully. I will bring this issue to the attention of the dealer.

2024 limited, Hesitation when pressing accelerator. There will be no power for some time. then a sudden jolt of acceleration. The most memorable moments of this is when trying to turn left into a neighborhood while cross traffic is oncoming, trying to drive but the truck wont go. The indicator “Add or replace oil” comes on even just after being to the dealer to have my 15000 mile service checkup.I have only had oil changes at the dealer. The trucks brand new and costs too damn much to not have the dealer take care of this. Can see blue/gray smoke out of the tail pipe - proving the engines burning oil. I pointed this out and took video while dropping it off at the dealer, they acknowledged. Frequent rough starts, not every one but 3 out of 5, always accompanied by the smoke. Shifting is far too rough. From a stop to easing on the accelerator there is a large knock, smacking into gear. This isnt always accompanied by the hesitation either. The rough shifting occurs at highway speeds too. The dealership has had my truck 3 days tomorrow and the only information they give me is; “ the technician cant fix it without having to talk (back and forth {like phone tag}) directly with the engineers.” The only recall is for moisture accumulation in the reverse lights.

This truck has squeaky brakes. I have complained to the dealer and filed a complaint with the complaint department at the corporate office. They are aware of the situation. I keep being told it is a know issue and parts are not available to repair the situation. Because this is a brake issue I am very concerned about my safety as I drive this vehicle, Please investigate this issue with Toyota and I believe a safety recall should be issued, In my many conversations with them I don.t feel they are concerned with this issue. I have been complaining and following up for over a year. I'm tired of complaining on deaf ears.

We are leasing a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The brakes are screeching when we reverse. We reported the issue to the Toyota dealership located on IH 35 , in San Antonio, Texas. We then called and made an appointment to repair the brakes more than a month ago. My husband went to the appointment. He was provided with a courtesy ride back home because the brakes would take most of the day. He no sooner got home and the courtesy taxi was coming back to pick up our Tundra, Toyota service told him that they did not have the brake parts to make the repair and they would call us when they received the parts to make the repair. It has been over a month and we have called several times and spoken to several service people and sales about the bad service. One of the service workers stated that they were waiting for parts and the parts were still not available. This is a very poor and unacceptable excuse. I want to return the Tundra and I want the down payment that I have given when I purchased this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at approximately 30 MPH and depressing the brake pedal to stop for a traffic signal, the vehicle's rear end was swerving to the right and left directions. The contact stated that the rear wheels had at moments stopped turning which made the vehicle skip and bounce before he was able to stop. Additionally, the contact stated that when he was driving at approximately 65 MPH and traffic was slowing down, as he depressed the brake pedal it traveled to the floorboard in order to slow the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the failure was not able to be diagnosed. The contact stated that he had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer three other times for the same failure and was told that the failure was not able to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300.

Fuel gauge won’t reset after filling the tank or it will stay on full after using the entire tank of gas. Running out of fuel on the freeway is a major safety issue!
Sep 20, 2025
I am experiencing a recurring issue with my 2024 Toyota Tundra’s fuel gauge. Specifically, when the vehicle is parked on an incline, the fuel gauge resets to indicate a full tank, regardless of the actual fuel level. For instance, after parking on a hill with approximately half a tank, the gauge displayed full upon restarting the vehicle.
May 12, 2025
This is my 4th time filling out this form. Fuel gauge and miles to empty will reset with the fuel gauge reading full and the miles to empty recalculating without putting fuel in the vehicle. My computer owners online account shows I have a fuel level of 153%.This truck has 2781 miles on it. The fuel gauge has reset itself 6 times in that mileage. Have now contacted Toyota Customer fulfillment and now have a case number for the problem. My dealer then contacted me within an hour of getting that case number. Will now hopefully being getting closer to a solution.
Nov 01, 2024
The gauge fails to display the correct fuel level, especially when the fuel is below a certain threshold, which raises concerns about the accuracy of the reading and the overall safety of the vehicle. It will show full when really fuel is 1/2 tank
Oct 18, 2024
Fuel gauge continues to reset to full with the miles to empty resting without putting gas in the truck. First reported to dealer and looked at on 7/12/24 with no solution. Second incident reported and truck left at dealer on 7/29/24. with no solution. 2 fuel gauge resets occured and reported to dealer on10/2/24 again with no solution except Toyota knows the problem but has no fixes. Last resetting of fuel gauge has occured on 10/9/24. I have been informed that other Toyota Tundra trucks have been into this dealership with the same problem of the fuel gauge resetting without putting any fuel in the truck. This vehicle should come with a reliable and working fuel gauge. This can become a hazard if running out of fuel. Dealership has now looked at this problem 3 times! 5 resets of the fuel gauge in 2315 miles.

After a complete stop vehicle acceleration lags when pressing accelerator.
Jan 16, 2026
When pulling out turning left across a busy street, my vehicle did not accelerate when I pressed the gas pedal for approximately one second. While only a short time, this was enough time to roll into the middle of traffic, but not get out of the way. This throttle hesitation/delay happened twice more in the same trip.
Jan 12, 2026
The vehicle experiences throttle lag from stop or when rapidly accelerating from one speed to another(passing on highway or merging on interstate). Pushing on the gas pedal does not receive an immediate response from the engine. Issue comes up when accelerating from a stop sign or merging/overtaking.
Dec 24, 2025
While driving the vehicle there is excessive lag in throttle response when giving the vehicle gas pedal input. Example being when you push gas to accelerate there is a 1-2 second delay from the vehicle before there is movement or acceleration. This happens every time i drive the vehicle and has almost caused numerous accidents due to the inconsistent response to throttle input.
Dec 03, 2025
Throttle lag/hesitation. Significant throttle lag/hesitation when trying to accelerate from a dead stop. Throttle input isn’t instant, sometimes the delay in acceleration from a dead stop has put me in dangerous situations when pulling out to the road way or having to move out of the way.

Component: Electrical Harness + Vehicle Shakiness Problem: Car would enter LIMP mode randomly and shut the car down to 18 MPH and can cause accidents anywhere, especially in highway where speed limits are 65+. Car also now starts shaking violently when 48 MPH is reached which is a safety concern. Reproduce: First turn taking into dealer they found issue then “disappeared” and they could not reproduce, went in again and they produced it then said that I tried tampering the engine then got corporate involved and they paid all of it. Now they are ghosting me and will not check out the shakiness. Inspected: Only by Summit Toyota Dealership (Akron Ohio) Warning Lamps: Only appeared after issue happened and disappeared when first issue was solved.

You step on accelerator and it doesn’t accelerate… it lags and almost caused accident more than 4 times! Throttle body won’t open up and go. I feel they need to remap the system.
Dec 31, 2025
When in stop and go traffic, almost coming to a complete stop or completely stopped the truck will intermittently have a throttle delay or lag where there is no power for 1-3 seconds followed buy a surge of acceleration. I’ve almost had a couple accidents where in stop and go traffic the truck surged almost Causing me to rear end the vehicle ahead of me. Another time I was stopped at a 2 way unrolled intersection. I pressed on the accelerator and the truck just rolled without power for a couple Seconds until it surged or jolted to acceleration. Otherwise I would’ve been in the middle of the intersection with oncoming traffic approaching. The dealer inspected and was unable to replicate the problem and I have taken it in several times. Repairing dealer confirmed manufacturer has had complaints about the same issue with the same model vehicle. There were no codes or error messages ever displayed. The dealer said they would contact when and if the manufacturer had a remedy or recall available. .

A low speeds there is a delay in throttle response. If you come to a stop then step on the accelerator, the vehicle has no response for a short period of time where then it may buck or propel itself to catch up with the missed throttle. I recently picked this vehicle up from the dealer and was told there is no remedy for the issue at this time.

The safety issue I have is that my truck will display hesitation in moving forward or accelerating. I have been in a few intersections trying to turn left and when pressing on the gas pedal there is a delay in responding to the gas pedal being pushed. I’ve discussed this with the dealer and was informed that this is normal behavior. The dead pedal has me very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving my truck.

When at a complete stop, going to pull out, or continue driving, there is a noticable lag to the acceleration. It sometimes does nothing for a few seconds before acceleration. If backing up, then switching to drive,.there is a delay and or a small jerk motion before the vehicle accelerates. This has caused issues when pulling out and vehicles are coming at normal speeds with plenty of time to pull out. The delay has almost caused several accidents.
Jan 16, 2026
Stopped at a stop sign, slightly uphill, turning from a residential street onto a busier road. When I pressed the accelerator, the pickup moved a bit and then hesitated. After pressing the accelerator further, the pickup accelerated suddenly and quickly. This has happened intermittently, multiple times. This is NOT the case of the auto start-stop system not starting quickly enough. The first risk is not being able to smoothly accelerate into traffic and getting hit from behind because of the hesitation. When the vehicle does accelerate, it jerks forward suddenly and quickly, often losing grip from the rear tires. This causes a risk of losing control or veering into the oncoming lane. The problem has been reported and the mechanics worked with the field engineers to diagnose the issue. The field engineers reported that this is a known problem There were no warning lights or other indicators that any component is malfunctioning. The problem first appeared with under 2,000 miles on the odometer and has repeated intermittently. I have not yet been able to determine a series of events that trigger the issue. It did happen a few times when stopped slightly uphill, but that isn't the only time. It is not clear whether it is the accelerator, throttle, engine, transmission, computer, or data transmission causing the problem.

At a four way stop, four cars were stopped waiting for a car with right of way to turn left. Car turning left hesitated. I began to accelerate since myself and another car going straight had next right of way. Another car began to enter intersection so I let off the throttle and began to apply brakes for them to clear the intersection. This car also stopped seeing me begin to go so I hit the throttle as the intersection was clear for me. The truck, still rolling did nothing when I applied the throttle. I applied upwards of 50% throttle while the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds. I let off the throttle completely, for approximately 1 second and hit the throttle again to about 50% to quickly clear the intersection and not cause further confusion. The truck then lurched forward and accelerated rapidly where I had to again back off the throttle. This has happened multiple times. Another time turning left directly into the road (no intersection) pulling out of a shopping center. Pressed the throttle to about 50% after a slight hesitation to check traffic and clear oncoming traffic and the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds leaving me partially in the road waiting for acceleration. Let off throttle completely for 1 second and pressed again 50% and truck lurched forwards. Too close of a call for comfort.

The high speed on the wipers is absurdly under powered. It is truly pathetic. The equivalent of low speed on every other vehicle on the road. You can NOT continue to drive in even a minor downpour, safely. Those who insist on doing so WILL cause, or be involved in crashes. Having owned 4 generations of Toyota vehicles amounting to several models, this downgrade is really, very shocking. We have always found our Toyota's to meet or usually exceed safety features. There is NO WAY that they sincerely believed this was "okay" or were unaware. It exceeds "obvious" failure by quite a margin. They simply WILLFULLY ignored IT!

While driving on the highway at approximately 65mph my sunroof spontaneously exploded. It was as loud as a gunshot and glass rained down into the cab as well as “exploded” upward and outward raining down behind my truck while driving. This startled me and all passengers. There were no vehicles ahead of us or in the oncoming lanes on the other side of the separated highway. No foreign debris was found in the truck and there was no other damage anywhere other than the obvious glass lying everywhere. I previously complained to the dealership during routine service that the sunroof made a rattling sound during light bumps. The routine service was completed and I was given the response of “our techs couldn’t reproduce the sound(s) so we can’t help with that today”. They assured me that I could leave the truck and they would look into it “when they could” but that I’d have to leave the truck in the lot and not be given a loaner vehicle.

While driving on interstate 30 in a new vehicle (3 months old), the sunroof exploded without contact from a foreign object. Went to nearest dealership, and their inspection found "No foreign material or signed of impact found." My wife and I were in the vehicle and no object struck us. If the sunshade was not closed the glass would have certainly sprayed in our faces and caused a significant accident that would have killed us and other motorists around us.

I am experiencing an ongoing issue since the truck was new: the engine hesitates upon acceleration at any speed. When stopped this lag in throttle response makes it difficult to navigate in heavy or unpredictable traffic as the vehicle does not response to the pedal instantly and making intentional sudden speed changes is all but impossible to do safely. Depressing the pedal heavy to try and hasten the response makes the truck surge into hard and fast acceleration, worsening the issue. I have discussed this with the dealer and they said this is “normal” for this truck, and I have heard the same from numerous other 3rd generation Tundra owners. This is a safety issue because I don’t have adequate control of the vehicle’s dynamics as the computer is overriding my control of the acceleration, presumably to improve fuel economy. Ultimately this seems to be an intentional design decision by Toyota and puts me and my passengers at risk.

The vehicle has acceleration hesitation. Sometimes when trying to go from a complete stop the vehicle is almost dead and doesn’t move then it feels as if the “clutch was popped “ in a manual but it is an automatic.
May 13, 2025
After stopping at a stop sign I attempted to cross the traffic to enter another lane. When I began to proceed I lost all power to the vehicle. The engine was still running but the accelerator pedal had no effect on the engine. As i was trying to cross the traffic, the vehicles I was trying avoid were now having to brake for me because I was in the middle of the road with no power. There were no warning lights or sounds produced, the vehicle just suddenly started to accelerate again. I currently have an appointment at the dealership. This problem has occurred three times in six months.

The truck has a hesitation or lag at stop signs every day, every stop sign it's like the transmission doesn't know what to do and doesn't shift into 1st unless you come to a complete stop for several seconds. Hit the throttle and nothing is happening. Even more scary thing that has happened about 8x so far is when you are stopped at an intersection and either need to wait for traffic to proceed across the road or if you are at a stop sign and waiting to merge into flowing traffic the truck will let you accelerate into traffic but then the throttle just goes dead. You can push the gas pedal all you want and the truck is just dead in the water for several seconds. Motor stays running and everything the throttle just wont work and you have to be very careful because when it suddenly comes back on if you have the pedal down to the floor it'll suddenly give you full power. It has almost caused me to get tboned 3x now and almost rear ended and then people are screaming at you and creating road rage because they think I just pulled out and stopped on purpose. I've gotten to the point I go to stop lights because I don't trust the truck to merge into flowing traffic. It feels to me like the crash avoidance is sensing something and cutting throttle but it doesn't beep or set off anything indicating that's what's happening. Dealer just always says they can not duplicate the issue. I'm going to mark 7/8/25 as the date that it's happend as I have that one written down but it did happen as recently as last week also I just don't remember the exact date.

The fuel gauge displays full tank even though the tank is quarter empty. The local Toyota dealership is unable to resolve this issue. The fuel gauge malfunction happens almost twice a month now.
Feb 24, 2025
Fuel gauge will reset itself to full without filling the tank . Has happened on 3 occasions with only 1000 miles on vehicle. Have been to dealership but the explanation from Toyota is it happens due to elevation and direction in which the vehicle is parked. Problem has occurred for me twice when vehicle was parked on a flat surface after driving and once when parked on a slight incline after being parked overnight.Gauge does not return to normal after driving vehicle as it only moves down from full level. Toyota says situation may be due to location of fuel gauge sending unit in fuel tank. Dealership had vehicle for 3 days and replicated the situation. At this time I guess I will have to track road mileage to determine when to get gas and not rely on the fuel gauge. The dealership has been great, but has to rely on what solutions that corporate Toyota will supply them. Will continue to monitor the situation.

Both front tires have premature wear to the outer edge. Additionally, all four tires have warned to 3/32" with less than 30,000 miles on them. Vehicle has been serviced by Toyota every 5,000 miles. All components have been inspected and per Toyota the vehicle alignment is within spec per manufacture. That being the case, the tires shouldn't wear unless there is a manufacture defect. Toyota nor Falken wants to honor the warranty or take responsibility for the defect of the OEM equipment. Toyota has a TSB for the Tundra alignment with 18" tires but refuse to add trucks with the 20" tires. They keep pointing the finger at each other leaving the customer with zero resolution. Others have replaced the tires but having the same issue reoccur. This is a safety concern as premature wear can contribute to poor cornering in curves, turns, and handling in wet or icy conditions.

Complaint Against: Toyota Motor North America Category: Vehicle Warranty Obligations Toyota USA Case Number: [XXX] Dealer: Toyota Carlsbad Service Advisor: Ken McDonald Date Warranty Claim Submitted: [XXX] Date of Denial: [XXX] I am filing a complaint regarding Toyota’s denial of warranty coverage for premature tire wear on all four factory-installed Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/65R18 tires on my 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. By 15,000 miles, I observed outer edge wear — a typical symptom of incorrect factory alignment. Following the dealer’s recommendation, I performed an alignment, and all scheduled maintenance, including tire rotations, has been completed at authorized Toyota dealerships. On [XXX], I submitted a warranty claim at Toyota Carlsbad. Ken McDonald inspected the tires and took photos, but no diagnostic work was performed — no alignment check, no suspension inspection. A month later, Toyota USA denied the claim based solely on Ken McDonald’s verbal opinion that “the problem is with the tires,” without any technical evaluation or factual basis. This is unacceptable. My issue clearly matches Toyota Service Campaign 24TD01, which confirms that certain 2022–2024 Tundra models may experience premature outer edge tire wear due to factory misalignment. My vehicle fits this description exactly. Requested Resolution: Replacement of the damaged tires under warranty or fair compensation for the financial loss. Toyota’s response represents a failure to uphold warranty obligations, raises serious safety concerns, and violates consumer rights. I respectfully request that the Better Business Bureau help ensure this case is reviewed fairly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Factory alignment was out of specification causing premature tire wear. The original factory Toe and Camber angle settings for the front wheels caused "feathering" and premature wear on the outside shoulders of the tires. My VIN was not included in the Service Campaign but per the dealer it was the exact same issue they have observed in other Tundras. I contacted Toyota and was not able to get resolution regarding a new set of tires

Driving 35 milers per hour down side road with no cars in front or behind us, and no cars passing us. The sunpanel burst and shattered into thousands of pieces .There was glass stuck into metal bar in rear, that’s how strong the explosion was. Pictures provided. I can confirm there was no chip in sunpanel prior to this happening. This is a huge safety issue. If the cloth panel was pulled back exposing the glass into the vehicle we would have glass stuck or embedded in our heads and we could have caused a major accident. The loud noise sounded like a gun shot and the driver swerved the car and slammed on the breaks because the sound was so loud.

Toyota placed a tinted coating over its chrome on the platinum trim. The coating is pealing off. My vehicle is garaged and has 6,200 gentle miles on it. The coating appears to be bubbling, so there is an issue with it. When at the dealership getting the warranty claim addressed, I saw their own 'parts truck' of same year and trim as mine also was pealing and I pointed it out to them. Doing further research, I've seen multiple online forum images of others experiencing the issue. It appears Toyota's solution is to replace the grill/bumper chrome with the same material, so I fear it will only happen again. The fix is pending.

Anytime I come to a yield/traffic circle and do not have to come to a complete stop, when I push the accelerator there is a hesitation and then the truck lurches forward. I upgraded from my 2017 Tacoma to a 2024 Tundra because of a growing family and the as advertised 2024 listed the same (if not better) fuel economy than my Tacoma. I am the truck says 17 city-22 highway mpg, I've not seen anything remotely close to that. Im currently getting 14 city 16.5 highway. I understand there are outside factors that could be at play, however I'm not even getting the city mpg on long trips. Having paid roughly $65k for this truck I think it should deliver as advertised. I've expressed my concern with my local dealership and was instructed to manually calculate the mpg to make sure the truck was showing the correct mpg. I can assure you that the mpg the truck is displaying is, unfortunately, correct. I've also filed a complaint with Toyota corporate and they pushed it back to my local dealership. No kne is taking accountability for this false advertisement. Frankly, I'm disappointed Toyota can continue to sell vehicles with fakse information. This reminds me of the VW diesel debacle years ago when VW finally got exposed for wrongdoing. I know many others have expressed this same concern. I hope NHTSA takes this matter seriously and forces Toyota to make this right somehow.

While driving down the highway at ~70 mph, the truck's powertrain suddenly shut off. The electronics still worked, but the RPMs dropped to zero. I was forced to pull off to the side of the road, where I tried to turn off and turn back on. The truck kept on turning off and on by itself electronically, but the engine and transmission wouldn't engage for roughly 10 minutes. I was eventually able to start the truck and limp home, but the engine was knocking afterward. Completely shutting down while driving down the highway at cruising speeds is insanely unsafe.

I am the second owner of a 2024 Toyota Tundra that is branded as a manufacturer buyback/lemon. The first owner had the engine short block replaced at around 31,000 miles due to bearing failure. I later bought this truck at around 36,000 miles specifically because Toyota stated that the engine problem had been fixed with the short-block replacement. I relied on that representation and believed I was buying a vehicle whose defect had been properly remedied. Toyota has now issued safety recall 25V767 / 25TA14 (“engine may stall during driving”) for this same V35A engine, including service short blocks. I am concerned that the earlier short-block repair either did not fully fix the underlying defect or may have introduced additional problems. At around 41–42k miles, the truck developed starting issues and then completely failed to start, leaving me stranded in the middle of an intersection in town. The vehicle would not crank or start and had to be towed out of traffic, which I consider a serious safety risk. The dealer ultimately replaced a 50-amp fusible link, the 12V battery, and the starter. The total repair bill was about $2,100 before my third-party extended warranty paid a portion of it. Even with that coverage, this is an extremely expensive repair for a relatively new truck that has already had major engine work. Now I have engine history, electrical/starter problems, and I do not know what other issues may appear. I trusted Toyota’s assurance that the engine problem was fixed, and that is why I felt comfortable buying a branded lemon; this now feels like I was misled or cheated. I am also aware of ongoing engine and reliability complaints on newer 2024–2025 Tundras, which suggests there may be a broader design or quality issue. My concern is that my truck remains defective despite the prior engine short-block replacement and that other owners could experience similar no-start or stall situations in traffic.

SUSPENSION
2 complaints
This Toyota Tundra, equipped with the specially designed air bag rear suspension, for towing, is incapable of towing anything on U.S. roads, particularly U.S, Interstates crossing our country... where a very large portion of these interstates are rutted, like a washboard, caused by over-weight trucks and the weather... and these rutted or rippled interstate roads last sometimes for hundreds of miles at a time... from western Ohio to Montana, easily 75% of the roads are in this condition. The truck is a complete hazard, and extremely dangerous to the driver and anyone else on the highway. It is dangerous to the highest degree and should not be allowed on any U.S. highway. The rear airbag suspension is controlled by a computer, this computer constantly levels the truck, and there is no way to over-ride this system/computer program. So, the truck is constantly trying to level itself. Note, this adaptive air-bag suspension is sold by Toyota as the ultimate towing machine, six years in Toyota design... yet, it is totally incapable of towing on U.S. highways, unless, of course, the roads are new and black top and totally smooth. So, this is what happens, every time the truck hits a bump, the computer tries to level the truck... when towing a trailer, in this case a 30 foot Airstream, the tounge weight is 950 pounds — so with every bump the tounge of the trailer slams down 950 pounds on the back of the truck, and the truck desperately tries to level itself. This creates some sort of synergistic response between the truck and the trailer, and the truck and the trailer start rocking back in forth in a very violent manner, and when you let off the gas and slow down, it becomes even more violent, and extremely difficult to keep on the road and in your lane... not to say, what it does to the driver, who is slammed around the cabin. This suspension was clearly designed on a computer, and never road-tested on U.S. highways and interstates in the north... It is a disaster.

I have had an issue several times which nearly resulted in a traffic accident. The truck has a sudden loss of acceleration where the gas pedal is completely dead. It last a few seconds and then goes back to normal. This has nearly caused several accidents where I could not properly accelerate while traffic was heading in my direction. After talking with other Tundra owners, I am not the only one with this issue. This needs immediate attention. If it is not fixed as soon as possible, I fear that someone will get seriously injured or killed. Please take this matter seriously. I suspect it may have something to do with the pre collision sensor system on the truck. It seems that it happens when there is a slight grade or dip in the road. Perhaps the sensors are at a lower angle due to the dip, making it think there is an object it will hit. The Toyota service centers don’t appear to know why this is happening and cannot reproduce the issue in a short visit.

Vehicle hesitates to accelerate from stop or slow roll when pedal is engaged. This hesitation nearly caused a collision when attempting a left-hand turn in heavy traffic. Problem can be reproduced easily and is exacerbated when on an incline. It has not been confirmed by dealer or service center. Occurs regardless of whether auto start/stop feature is enabled or not. Putting transmission in "S" mode and manually down shifting to first gear appears to prevent the issue. After the hesitation, when the vehicle begins to accelerate, it performs a "hard" acceleration, like the pedal was slammed to the floor, even though consistent pressure was maintained on the the pedal. Brakes - When descending down a hill at speed the brakes on my truck pulsate as if the rotors are warped. My family was put at risk due to the brakes not functioning properly and causing me to let off the braking system in order to prevent overheating. I asked my dealer to review the brakes and they indicated nothing is wrong, I can reproduce this action anytime for the dealership with a simple ride up and down the mountain. This could result in a crash harming myself, my family, or other motorists. The problem began between 5k-10k miles and is getting worse. My truck currently has 16k miles. The brakes should last 40k-60k miles with no problem. Engine/fuel system - Since new, my truck has never met the window sticker EPA ratings listed. 22-23 models being recalled due to engine failure leads me to believe my engine is not performing at peak performance, thus, affecting fuel economy. I am afraid my model (built in 2023) is slowly experiencing the same main bearing failure as the 22-23 models suffered, having catastrophic results and was recalled to have a full engine replacement. My engine failing while driving could result in a crash harming myself, my family, or other motorists. I prefer not to wait for my engine to fail, given the fact that 22-23 models have all been recalled due to this manufacturing defect. Some, if not all 2024 models should also be recalled out of abundance of precaution.

I am the original owner of a brand new 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and this issue began within the first 15,000 miles of regular dealer-maintained use. At approximately 14,800 miles, I noticed unusual and rapid outer shoulder wear on all four OEM Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 285/65R18 tires. A professional alignment inspection performed by Toyota Carlsbad dealership confirmed that the factory-set front toe angle was significantly out of Toyota’s specification (left front toe: +0.30°, right front: +0.10°, total front toe: +0.39°). This incorrect alignment was present from the factory and caused tire damage before any corrections were made. These settings match exactly what is described in Toyota Limited Service Campaign 24TD01, which applies to 2022–2023 Tundra models. However, my 2024 vehicle is not included, even though the defect and symptoms are identical. The alignment defect was confirmed and corrected by the dealership, but Toyota refused to replace the damaged tires, stating it is not a warrantable condition. However, this wear was directly caused by the misalignment on a new, factory-spec vehicle, maintained per Toyota guidelines. This condition presents a clear safety risk, as premature outer tire wear significantly reduces traction, affects handling, and increases stopping distance—especially in wet or emergency conditions. There were no warning lights or messages, making the condition undetectable until visible tire damage occurred. I filed a formal complaint with Toyota USA, but they declined further assistance. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether Toyota should expand Campaign 24TD01 to include 2024 models with the same alignment-related defect. The tires are available for inspection. I have supporting documentation including alignment reports, photos of tire wear, and communications with Toyota regarding this case #.

I feel a slight thud when hitting exactly 40MPH. This happens in Normal, Sport, and Echo. I can feel the thud from the steering wheel and gas pedal. I think it is a transmission fault since it happens exactly at 40 every time, even on smooth roads.

I am experiencing premature and uneven tire wear on my 2024 Toyota Tundra, specifically on the outer edges of the front tires. This has occurred despite proper rotation and no off-road use, the tires showed significant edge wear. Multiple alignment checks revealed improper front end camber and Toe settings, which appear to be part of a wider issue affecting many 2022-2024 Tundra's, especially 4WD models. Toyota has not issued a recall but has quietly revised alignment specifications at the dealer level to address the problem. This defect compromises tire life, vehicle handling, and potentially safety. I believe this issue should be formally investigated and addressed by the NHTSA.

The truck has a very pronounced hesitation to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. Example: slow down, come to a stop at a stop sign and then accelerating to start moving. This situation happens daily and almost on every occasion after slowing or stopping. It has gotten worse over time and this issue has put me and my family in very dangerous and scary situations as the truck does not accelerate promptly and oncoming traffic is getting closer. It really has made me concerned to drive my truck and feel unsafe doing so, especially with my family.

My Tundra iForce MAX was Toyota saleperson demo truck before I purchased it. Got my truck approx. 2XXX Mileage in late sept. I started noticed transmission vibration while medium acceleration approx. 40 mph in early October. Vibration only occur during transmission warm up. Been attending to 2 dealerships multiple times and they find nothing wrong with my transmission since November 2024. I got Loaner 2024 Tundra iForce recently with same 10 speed transmission, it felt lot smoother and no vibration at all for a whole week before return the loaner. The vibration from my Tundra feels like clutch slippery somewhere from transmission or K0 Clutch. Some time it makes the acceleration feels delay while it was vibrating aka slippery. 2nd problem, I noticed left front tire edge shows sign of start worn out while tire is only have 8k miles on it. Dealership checked the alignment and said nothing found wrong. They recommended me to tire rotation on 5k miles without offer replace tire that is about to show bald on edge. Tire is factory off road package tire aka Falken Wildpeak AT3WA. 3rd problem, during first oil change at 5k miles. I noticed there is oil residue on bottom bell housing between engine and electric motor. Dealership cleaned it and wanted me to come back at 10k miles routine maintenance inspection. Around 6k miles, I took a look at the leak area. Oil came back as seeping. Dealership denied and said there is no leak at this time. Saw the oil residue from their inspection report.

From the start, I would say after a few months of having my vehicle I had EBS issues and after that I had my vehicle shut down while I was driving and go into limp mode at it said engine reduce power or reduce engine power and it has done that four times This last time it said reduce engine power and all mercy breaking systems failed. There was a knocking in the engine, like there was no oil in it and all collision malfunction sensors breaking systems everything malfunction and vehicle shut off and engine was rattling took to Toyota and they told me that it was a manufacturing issue, but there was no recall my vehicle never even said I was low on oil even though I just had an oil change. It never gave me any alerts. It would just randomly lose power to the engine and shut down but this last time it was really bad.

There are two recurring issues effecting my truck. These have been ongoing for 6 months, since March of this year. I have been to my dealer Lum's in Warrenton, Oregon 8 times for this. They have been unavailable to fix the issues and told me they needed a Toyota factory person to fix the issues because they do not have anyone at the dealership that can do it. Nate Whisnant, the service manger at Lum's was suppose to make this happen but he has not. They are not responding. I have sent a request to my sales person Liz Valsqueze try to get some movement from Lum's. These issues are described by my Launch code reading tool, which I had to buy to clear the codes to keep my truck operational as designed. The issues are two issues for the Power system: 1. P2450 7E 2. Evaporative Emissions System Switching Valve Actuator Stuck On There are two issues for Vehicle Body System: 1. Evaporative Emission System Switching Vlave Performance/Stuck Open 2. Lost Communication with Image Processing Module "B" Missing Message Effectively what this means is that: 1. The truck throws a check engine light and asks me to contact the dealer while simultaneously disabling ALL cruise control related functions. 2. The Cameras used for parking, backing, checking the security of loads i the bed etc are all disabled. All camera's around the truck are disabled not allowing for safety checks when pulling into or out of parking, etc. It is unsafe not to have a view around my truck when pulling in and out of tight places. It it unsafe not to have fatigue reducing cruise control on long trips and in heavy traffic with collision braking assistance that does not work. This vehicle is available for inspection by anyone that will take the time to inspect it. The is a constant warning lamp that does not go off asking me to contact the dealer to fix it. These warning lamps first appeared in February 2024. I purchased the truck in December 2023. The dealer has not fixed the problems.

Vehicle panoramic view monitor camera system becomes unresponsive. Error Code U023B87 - Lost communication with ECM/PCM missing image. System error renders all cameras except rear camera inoperable. Rear camera lines are removed. All Parking and Cross Traffic Collision becomes unresponsive and appears to be off. Only warning lamp was "vehicle trailer assist malfunction" within the trailer display. Problem is always occurring, it is not intermittent. Concerns on safety: Inability to utilize parking, cross traffic, and cameras which enhance vehicle and pedestrian safety. Front view camera typically goes on at low to avoid forward blindspot over hood. Without cameras or sensors, may result in collision with low objects or pedestrians such as children on bicycles particularly on large blindspot in front of hood. Failure appeared at 1,800 miles. Toyota dealership inspected and unable to resolve issue. From Tundras.com search with keyword camera, this issue is widespread across the country on model year 2024 with various methods of repair or replacement of software / hardware.

The transmission seems to be confused on which gear to select and hesitates to get the truck moving. It's happened to me at an intersection a few times and my car will inch forward but lags to accelerate, and vehicles behind me have been close to rear ending me. This is very reproducible in the mornings, it's very apparent or when the truck has been sitting off for a long period of time. After driving for a while it no longer happens. Every morning though this issue is apparent.

Vehicle was turned off and driver exited with key remaining inside of vehicle. Returned to vehicle to remove items from interior. The driver's door locked and was unable to unlock using its proximity sensor. I attempt to the Toyota digital key. The app alerted me that the unlock feature was not available at this time. Walked around the passenger door to find it to be unlocked. Tried to use the electronic door lock feature, it still would not unlock the drivers door. I had to crawl through over the passenger seat to the drivers door to manually unlock the door.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH at night, the low beam and high beam headlights were extremely dim. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the high beam headlights were adjusted; however, the failure persisted while driving. The contact's friend inspected the vehicle and informed him that the LED fog lights were not installed on the vehicle; however, the vehicle specifications indicated that the vehicle was designed with LED fog lights. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they were unaware that the LED fog lights were not installed on the vehicle at the factory. The dealer advised the contact that the manufacturer had informed them that the LED fog lights were not installed on the vehicle because they could cause a glare to other drivers when driving with the suspension lifted. The dealer installed the LED fog lights on the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 30 MPH with the Adaptive Cruise Control engaged, the Lane Keep Assist caused the vehicle to drift outside the lane to the left and to the right continuously and failed to keep the vehicle in the lane. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure occurred due to a crack on the front grill. The contact also stated that the hood molding was causing a sun reflection on his eyes while driving, which affected the visibility of the roadway even while wearing sunglasses. The contact stated that the vehicle design caused the water on the road to splash on the windshield while driving instead of parting the water to the sides, which temporarily reduced the visibility of the roadway. The contact stated that the trims on the windows were inconsistently sealed. The dealer was notified of the failures and informed the contact that they would need the vehicle and User data to repair the vehicle. The contact declined to provide the data to prevent a breach. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80.
