I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET MY CAR'S AIRBAG RECALL DONE AT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THIS IS PROBABLY THE 4-6TH TIME I TOOK IT AND WAS EXTREMELY PATIENT WITH THEM GETTING IT TO BE REPAIRED. I CONTINUE TO GET THESE LETTERS IN THE MAIL THAT MY CAR STILL HAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS. THIS DEALER IS THE CLOSEST TO ME AND GOING ANYWHERE ELSE WOULD BE CAUSE AN INCONVENIENCE SINCE ITS ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY. I EVEN TOOK OFF WORK TO GET THIS DONE BUT IT WAS NEVER DONE. THE DEALER IS TOYOTA OF YORK OVER AT WHITEFORD RD. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE UNSAFE UNKNOWINGLY BECAUSE OF THEM NOT FIXING MY CAR LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN. RECALL ID: QNC7-IUA

HAD HIGHLAND TOYOTA REPLACE THE AIRBAGS UNDER THE TAKATA RECALL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON PRIOR TO THIS REPAIR BUT AFTER THE REPAIR THEY HAD NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING THE SRS WARNING LIGHT TO GO OUT. TOLD ME THEY HAD RESET IT AND TO DRIVE IT TO SEE IF IT WILL GO OUT ON ITS OWN IT NEVER HAS. SO HERE IT IS ABOUT 2 YEARS LATER AND STILL THE LIGHT IS ON. I KNOW I'VE SEEN OTHER ISSUES WITH THE SRS ON TOYOTAS COME TO LIGHT COULD THIS BE A RELATION TO THAT?

There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no reported inquires. The contact stated that the rear axle was weak, had rusted, and then separated. The contact repaired the vehicle. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall. No additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 195,487.

Car was in park, ignition off, with the keys removed. The gear shift could apparently move in this locked position and the vehicle rolled backwards with a 6 year old child in the car. The car was totaled after hitting a concrete base to a light fixture. A failure occurred that allowed the car to shift gears off and in park.

HEAD GASKET WAS REPLACED BY DEALER. THAT SAME DAY, I LOOKED AT OUR OTHER VEHICLE SAME MODEL DIFFERENT YEAR 2010. I NOTICED THE SAME OIL LEAK. SINCE THEN, I HAVE LOOKED AT THREE OTHER 2010 YARIS AND FOUND THE SAME OIL LEAK FROM THE #1 CYLINDER OF THE HEAD CYLINDER GASKET. *TR

I OWN A 2008 TOYOTA YARIS, AND AFTER 3 YEARS I'M NOW EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SENSORS. THIS IS A STANDARD SAFETY FEATURE THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR SINCE IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE BASE MODEL. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT MANY YARIS OWNERS FROM CANADA AND US ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME SENSORS AND SEEM TO HAVE STARTED WITH THE 2006 MODELS AND SO ON. I'M INCLUDING THE LINK OF THE FORUM LISTED BELOW AS PROOF OF OTHER YARIS OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I'M SURE THAT THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE NOT ON THIS FORUM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND ARE NOT ACCOUNTED FOR. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT I FEEL SHOULD BE RECALLED. BRAKES LOCKED UP ON MY 2008 TOYOTA YARIUS AND IT SKIDDED ME 67' 9" INTO THE BACK END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SKID MARKS WERE SOLID. I HAVE HAD MECHANICS TELL ME THAT THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE AND IT WILL SPEED YOU UP, WHICH CAUSED ME TO HIT THIS VEHICLE NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND THEY SENT OUT A SUBJECT TO CHECK THE BRAKES, I THEN RECEIVED A LETTER STATING ALL THE TESTS ARE FINE. WELL MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED THEM THAT YOU CAN NOT DO THE PROPER TEST, WITHOUT TOWING IT TO A CERTIFIED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND PUT IT ON THEIR COMPUTER. WELL I TRIED TO GET TOYOTA TO TELL ME IF THIS MAN PULLED UP IN HIS TRUCK AND PULLED OUT THIS COMPUTER, HOWEVER NOW TOYOTA WON'T TALK TO ME. MY INSURANCE HAS HAD ONE OF THEIR INSPECTORS TO COME AND LOOK OVER THE VEHICLE, WHICH HE EXPLAINED TO ME SINCE IT HAS BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS THAT THE BLACK BOX MAY HAVE LOST THE INFORMATION THAT IS STORED IN IT, I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM YET. I KNOW THIS WAS A VEHICLE MALFUNCTION, I FIRST CALLED TOYOTA TO FILE A COMPLAINT WHEN A TOYOTA SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED ME TO DO SO!! IN FACT THE TOYOTA REP WAS THE FIRST ONE TO ASK ME IF I WANTED COMPENSATED FOR THIS AND IF I COME UP WITH A FIGURE TO CALL HIM BACK WHICH I DID AND HE GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND. I WROTE A LETTER TO TOYOTA AND HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING ELSE FROM THEM. I KNOW FOR A FACT THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT, THIS WAS THE FIRST ACCIDENT I HAVE EVER HAD, AND ITS RUINED ME. I WORK TWO JOBS AND ALL I WANTED WAS A CAR I COULD TRUST, THIS WAS MY FOURTH TOYOTA AND IT WILL BE MY LAST. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE SKID MARKS, MY VEHICLE. I WAS SUED BY THE LADY I HIT LAWYER. Vehicle is showing an evap canister, purge valve leak which is common across many Toyota`s of high mileage, I would get a faint smell of gas here and there and curious to know if this would be covered. AFTER WASHING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR, THE CEL CAME ON. FIVE P CODES CAME UP ON SCANNER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT WATER GOT INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT ALONG WITH OTHER RELATED PARTS TOTAL COST TO ME $1027.83 WHICH INCLUDES NYS TAX NOT INCLUDING LABOR CHARGE. TOYOTA HAS CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM ON THE NEWER MODELS BUT MINE WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMIT TO A DEFECT. INCLUDED IN THE PARTS LIST IS SOME SORT OF WATER DEFLECTOR SO THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. TOYOTA SAID THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO WARRANT A RECALL. MY ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME ON MY 2008 YARIS SEDAN. THE MANUAL STATES TO CONTACT THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY IN THIS SITUATION. THE ABS IS DISABLED IN THIS SITUATION. THE PROBLEM WAS A LEFT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SHORTED (CODE P0215). DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON THE CONNECTION THE WIRING HARNESS WAS ALSO REPLACED. THE REPLACED PARTS WERE 89544-02070 (SENSOR, SKID CONTROL) AND 89516-52100 (WIRE, SKID CONTROL). THE CAR WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD WITH 12,465 MILES AT THE TIME. My fiancee bought her 2008 Toyota Yaris on about the 26 Apr 2021. Right off she had brake failure pretty quickly after buying the car. Brake pads were suspected of failing. When the front tires were removed the calipers had built up thick rust on inside surface where the pads sit on both front calipers. The pads were pushed into the rotors heavily causing the driver side rotor to be damaged beyond acceptable limits. The right side rotor was turned successfully with enough rotor minimum thickness remaining. So the rust caused me to replace 1 rotor, both calipers and pads on front and rear brakes. The rust built up on the calipers threaded input and output brake fluid lines threaded attach points. This could have cause a fluid leak that could of been very dangerous leading to injury or death of occupants. I have not reported this to The Toyota dealership or anyone else. I didn't know I could report dangerous items that could be set for a safety recall by the NHTSA. As for the airbags, the driver airbag light stays on and passenger light comes on when 10 pounds of weight is sat in passenger seat. The belt is not latched. My driver seat belt is always latched when I drive. I weigh 130 but the light remains on. So, will the driver air bag inflator explode or fail due to the warning light illuminatimg. I was unaware of a recall for this and 3 others have not been repaired yet by previous owners. The third item is backseat seatbelt female receptical will not latch to the male end on 2 of the 3 seating positions. This is a real safety issue when we place children in the backseat. We can only take 1 child at each drive, so even adults riding in the backseat will be not buckled up, which is un-law and very dangerous causing severe injuries and even death in an accidental collision. I will take my Fiancee's 2008 Yaris to a Toyota dealership for the 4 recalls noted today by VIN,7/29/2021. Thanks, Richard Peavler

IN THE PAST 8-9 MONTHS I HAVE HAD 2 SETS ( OF 4) TIRE SENSORS REPLACED. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL FIRST BLINK THEN DISPLAY A SOLID BLUE LINE. THE FIRST AND SECOND TIME THE SENSORS SHOWED THEY WERE NOT CONNECTING TO THE TIRES. TODAY THE LIGHT BLINKED, THEN WENT TO A SOLID BLUE WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. I HAD TO DRIVE OVER 50-60 MILES TO GET TO THE BIG O STORE.I STOPPED TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS ENOUGH AIR IN THE TIRES TO DRIVE THE 50-60MILES. ONE TIRE WAS 2 POUNDS LOWER THEN THE OTHER THREE. THE LOW TIRE WAS INCREASED TO MATCH THE OTHER THREE AND I CONTINUED TO THE BIG O STORE IN CORTEZ, CO. IT TURNED OUT THAT I WAS DRIVING APPX 2 HOURS WHEN THE SOLID BLUE LIGHT SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. 15ISH MILES LATER THE LIGHT BLINKED FOR 2-3. MILES AND THEN WENT SOLID AGAIN. AT THIS POINT I WAS APPX 2 MILES FROM THE STORE. ONCE AT THE STORE, THE TIRES WERE CHECK AND ALL PRESSURES HAD REMAINED THE SAME. THE SENSORS WERE CHECKED AND THEY WERE ALL CONNECTING AND WORKING. I HEAR THAT ALTITUDE (6500-7000 FT) AND TEMPERATURE CAN AFFECT THE SENSORS (IT WAS BETWEEN 29 TO 31 DEGREE F.) I WAS DRIVING ON MOUNTAINOUS SEMI- WINDING CLEAR ROADS BETWEEN DURANGO AND CORTEZ CO. THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN 11:30AM-2:30PM. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. AT THE SAME TIME THE ABS FELT LIKE THEY ENGAGED. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE I FOUND OUT THAT MANY USERS IN THE US AND CANADA ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM DUE TO FAULTY ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSORS ON THE WHEEL HUB. DUE TO THE SALT ON THE ROADS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, SALT CAN ENTER THE SENSOR AND CORRODE THE TERMINALS. THIS IS DUE TO A POOR SEAL BETWEEN THE CONNECTOR AND THE WIRING HARNESS. WHEN SALT WATER ENTERS THE TERMINALS IT CAUSES THE ABS TO ACT UP. THIS IS TRUE FOR 2007 AND 2008 MODELS ACCORDING TO OTHER YARIS USERS. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR REPAIR ANYTHING. I HAVE REPLACED REAR SHOCKS, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, AND NOW AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. IT SEEMS THE ENTIRE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AFTER THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. AT THAT TIME, THE CAR HAD ONLY 40,000 MILES ON IT. THE ONLY RESPONSE TOYOTA PROVIDED WAS "SORRY, YOUR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED." ALL MECHANICS I HAVE DISCUSSED THESE ISSUES WITH AGREE THAT SUCH REPAIRS SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY ON A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED OR DRIVEN HARD. MY 4 YEAR OLD 2008 TOYOTA YARIS WITH APPROXIMATELY 57,000 MILES STARTED MAKING A CLUNKING/BANGING SOUND WHEN I WOULD TRAVEL OVER SMALL BUMPS OR BRAKE SLOWLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR REPAIRS. HE TOLD ME THAT A BOLT HOLDING THE PASSENGER LOWER SUSPENSION ARM TO THE FRAME HAD CORRODED AND SHEARED OFF. HE SAID THAT IF I CONTINUED DRIVING IT THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE SUSPENSION AND WHEEL WOULD LIKELY BREAK AWAY FROM THE CAR. HE SHOWED ME A REPAIR BULLETIN THAT TOYOTA HAD PRODUCED DETAILING THE PROBLEM AND STATED THAT THEY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT BECAUSE IT WAS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SINCE FAILURE OF THAT BOLT COULD LEAD TO A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY LOOKED UP THE BULLETIN AND SHOWED ME THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS ONLY COVERED AS PART OF THE BASIC 3 YEAR WARRANTY. I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP THEY HANDED ME WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE BOLT THEY REPLACED AND THE OTHER BOLT THAT HELD THE CONTROL ARM IN PLACE. BOTH BOLTS WERE BADLY CORRODED AND HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW BOLTS THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME WERE A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER AND WERE CORROSION RESISTANT. TOYOTA OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE USING DIFFERENT PARTS THAN THE CARS WERE SHIPPED WITH FROM THE FACTORY. THE TOYOTA SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME TO KEEP MY RECEIPT BECAUSE HE EXPECTS THIS TO BE A RECALL ISSUE AND TOLD ME THAT I WILL BE REIMBURSED WHEN IT IS RECALLED. P0121 IS ONE OF THE CODES MENTIONED IN THE TSB WHICH WAS ALSO THE CODE RECODED IN MY ENGINE COMPUTER, HOWEVER THE TSB DOES NOT MENTION THE FAILURE TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THEY TOLD ME THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS PER THE TSB AND THAT THE COST WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY TOYOTA BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS OVER 58000 MILES ON IT AND IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS SHOCKED THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER THIS REPAIR CONSIDERING THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCE ONE COULD FIND THEMSELVES IN WHEN A VEHICLE CANNOT ACCELERATE. I WAS DRIVING MY YARIS AND ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A 4-LANE ROAD. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AS I ENTERED THE LEFT LANE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE PEDAL WENT HALFWAY DOWN, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. AS I QUICKLY TRIED TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO AS A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE BEHIND ME CAME UP FAST, THE ENGINE RESPONDED UNEXPECTEDLY AND I SURGED FORWARD. THE NEXT TIME I DEPRESSED THE PEDAL, IT RESPONDED NORMALLY AT THE TOP OF ITS TRAVEL. HOWEVER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER WHEN I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. AGAIN, NO RESPONSE. THIS HAPPENED ON AND OFF UNTIL LAST WEEK WHEN IT STARTED TO BECOME MORE COMMON THAN THE NORMAL RESPONSE. SINCE I DIDN'T WANT TO PAY TOYOTA FOR AN EXPENSIVE FIX ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES AFTER MY WARRANTY RAN OUT, I RESOLVED TO GET USED TO IT. I ADJUSTED MY ACTIONS SO I DIDN'T EXPECT AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE FROM THE CAR UNTIL THE PEDAL GOT PART WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND, THOUGH I'M SURE IT AFFECTED MY GAS MILEAGE, I COULD DEAL WITH IT. THEN YESTERDAY, AS I PULLED INTO MY GARAGE, THE PEDAL RESPONSE SUDDENLY WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND I ALMOST WENT THROUGH THE BACK OF THE GARAGE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR (AND ONE FOR MY WIFE AS WELL) BECAUSE OF TOYOTA'S REPUTATION FOR RELIABILITY AND ITS FUEL ECONOMY. NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. I HAVE READ THAT LEXUS OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS ANNOYING, REDUCES GAS MILEAGE, AND COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS.

I PURCHASED A BRAND, NEW 2008 TOYOTA YARIS IN MARCH 2008 AT VALLEY TOYOTA IN HANSON, CALIFORNIA. I AM THE SOLE OWNER AND THE ONLY DRIVER. DURING THE TIMEFRAME BETWEEN JANUARY 11TH TO JANUARY 15TH, 2011, THE ABS LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON REPEATEDLY. AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUAL, I PARKED THE CAR UNTIL I COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH A SERVICING DEALER. THE AUTOMOBILE IS ONLY 2 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS IN MY POSSESSION AND I STILL OWE $13, 865.00 ON IT. THE MILEAGE IS 98% FEDERAL INTERSTATE MILES. I PAID $ 1,031.84 ON WEDNESDAY, 19TH OF JANUARY 2011 FOR 2 REAR HUBS AND 2 SKID CONTROL WIRES AND HAD TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE SERVICING DEALER ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 22ND FOR REMAINING REPAIR TASKS WHICH COST ANOTHER $ 323.75. IN TOTAL I HAVE PAID TOYOTA A GRAND TOTAL OF $1,355.59 TO REPAIR THE ABS WIRES AND HARNESS WHICH WERE CORRODED ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIANS. ONCE AGAIN, THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BY ME AS A BRAND, NEW AUTO IN MARCH OF 2008 WITH LESS THAN 89,000 MILES (98% HIGHWAY MILES). TO HAVE PAID $ 1, 355.59 TO TOYOTA FOR THE ABS SYSTEM IS DEPLOYABLE AS THE COMPANY IS AWARE OF A SEEMINGLY SYSTEMIC PROBLEM OF CORROSION WITH THE ABS ON TOYOTA YARIS MODELS DATING BACK TO 2007. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THE COMPANY HAS ONLY ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND NOT TO CUSTOMERS IN SEPTEMBER 2007 AND IN JUNE OR JULY 2008. IN VIEW OF PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR OTHER MODELS, TOYOTA HAS BEEN EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT AND NOT RESPONSIBLE TO MY CALLS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I DRIVE A TOYOTA 2008 YARIS (TOYOTA VIOS HERE IN D PHILPPINES)WITH A LITTLE MORE THAN 20,000 KMS(20,014KMS) ON D ODOMETER. I NOTICED AN INTERMITTENT NOISE ON D FRONT END SUSPENSION PASSENGER SIDE. I BROUGHT TO D DEALER FOR AN ASSESSMENT OF THE PROBLEM, AFTER THEIR ASSESSMENT TOYOTA TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SHOCK ABSORBER AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THERE WAS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE ALTERNATOR SAYING THAT THE VOLTAGE "ISN'T UP TO STANDARD." AFTER A FEW DAYS I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK FROM TOYOTA. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY REPLACED THE FRONT RIGHT SHOCK ABSORBER. I ASKED THEM WHY ONLY ONE SHOCK ABSORBER WAS REPLACED AS THE USUAL PROCEDURE WAS THAT BOTH FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS SHOULD BE REPLACED, THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD THAT TOYOTA IS BECOMING MORE STRICT WITH WARRANTY POLICIES AND THE ONLY PART THAT THEY WILL REPLACE IS THE DEFECTIVE PART. FURTHERMORE THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR SAID IF IT WAS UP TO THEM THEY NORMALLY ALWAYS REPLACE BOTH SHOCK ABSORBERS BUT BECAUSE OF TOYOTA'S STRICT WARRANTY POLICY THEY COULD ONLY REPLACE ONE SHOCK ABSORBER. THIS SEEMS TO BE ANOTHER INSTANCE OF TOYOTA CUTTING CORNERS TO SAVE COST AT THE EXPENSE OF CAR SAFETY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA YARIS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 28 MPH, THE CONTACT MOVED TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACTS VEHICLE THEN ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED TO SPEEDS OF 60 MPH AND HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO CRASH INTO A BOULDER AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED AN INVESTIGATOR WOULD FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE FOR A DETERMINATION OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 55,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA YARIS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AT NIGHT THE TAIL LIGHTS DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY UNLESS THE CONTACT TURNED THEM ON MANUALLY. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT NIGHT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL AND THAT IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. THERE WERE NO REPAIR. I TRIED TO CONTROL THE STEERING BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. ANOTHER CAR WAS COMING FROM MY RIGHT SIDE SO IN ORDER TO SAVE THAT CAR I SLIGHTLY TURNED THE STEERING TO LEFT. HE SHOWED ME THE CABIN AIR FILTER AND IT WAS COMPLETELY BLACK. HAD TO PAID MORE FOR A NEW ONE. ALSO THE BACK TRUNK COVER WAS REPAINTED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE ( THE 3RD PARTY TOLD ME MY TRUNK WAS REPAINTED).
