THE RIGHT SADDLE BAG LATCH IS SHOWING SIGNS OF WEAR. IF IT CONTINUES TO WEAR AND BREAKS THE SADDLE BAG LID MAY POP OPEN WHILE RIDING AND IF THERE IS ANY TYPE OF MATERIAL OR CLOTHING IT MAY COME OUT ON TO ROADWAY OR POSSIBLY THE HIGHWAY POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO SEEN BRAND NEW MOTORCYCLES ON THE SHOW ROOM FLOOR SHOWING SIGNS OF WEAR AND THEY ARE BRAND NEW NO MILEAGE. I ALSO HAVE ISSUE WITH SIGNAL LIGHTS. WHEN ENGAGING THE SIGNAL LIGHT PRIOR TO TAKING A TURN IT SHUTS OFF PREMATURELY. ALSO WHEN PUTTING TURN SIGNAL ON IT SHUTS OFF SOMETIMES IN 15-20 SECONDS AND YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN AND DRIVING STRAIGHT PRIOR TO TAKING A TURN. MY WIFE AND I WERE RIDING TO DEADWOOD, SD. SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE SD STATE LINE AND SIOUX FALLS HER RIGHT PASSENGER FLOORBOARD FELL OFF HER BIKE. AT THIS TIME, HER BIKE HAD APPROX 5,000 MILES. EVER SINCE PURCHASING HER BIKE, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE PINS THAT HOLD THE FLOORBOARDS IN PLACE HAVE BEEN VIBRATING FORWARD. EVERY COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES OR SO, WE WOULD ADJUST THESE PINS BACK IN PLACE. I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, AND THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE BIKES. IF YOU DO A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH, YOU WILL SEE SEVERAL POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON VARIOUS FORUMS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VICTORY CROSS COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

I WAS MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY LEANED INTO THE CURVE RUNNING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE POPPED AND DIED. WHEN THIS HAPPENED IT LOCKED UP THE REAR TIRE CAUSING THE BACK END OF THE MOTORCYCLE TO SKID AROUND AND WHEN IT CAUGHT TRACTION IT FLIPPED THE BIKE IN THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE WAY I WAS LEANING LAUNCHING ME INTO THE ROAD. I WAS APPLYING THROTTLE GENTLY WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND THE RPM'S WERE AROUND 3000 AT THE TIME. AND I WAS NOT SHIFTING GEARS AT THE TIME. AFTER A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS I WAS ABLE TO GET THE ENGINE STARTED AGAIN BUT THE BIKE MADE A SCRUBBING SOUND IF I MOVED IT. IT WAS THEN TRAILERED TO THE DEALER AFTER THAT. POLARIS, THE PARENT COMPANY OF VICTORY IS TURNING A BLIND EYE TO A PROBLEM THAT LEFT UNCHECKED WILL END UP KILLING SOMEONE. c-clip used to hold transmission gears in place has dislodged from the groove it is supposed to be locked into, allowing the gears to travel more than they are supposed to do, which could result in a transmission lockup and subsequent, potentailly, catastrophic accident.

The contact owns a 2013 Victory Cross Country Motorcycle. The contact stated that while riding approximately 8 MPH around a curve, the motorcycle stalled and lost motive and electrical power. The contact stated that he then attempted to restart the motorcycle however, the rear wheel seized once the motorcycle was shifted into gear. The contact kick-started the motorcycle and rode the motorcycle back to the residence where it remained. The contact stated that he had not contacted the dealer or the manufacturer. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V002000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V002000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. I WAS TRAVELLING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION WHERE I NEEDED TO TURN, I PULLED ON THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT THE CRUISE DID NOT DEACTIVATE. I PULLED ON THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ELECTRONIC CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STILL NOT DISENGAGE. I ENDED UP PRESSING THE CRUISE CONTROL "OFF" BUTTON AND IT FINALLY DISENGAGED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING THE TURN I SET THE CRUISE AT A LOWER SPEED AND ATTEMPTED TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE WAS STILL THERE - REPEATED APPLICATION OF THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER DID NOT DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. IT DID DISENGAGE EITHER WHEN THE "OFF" BUTTON WAS PRESSED OR WHEN THE REAR BRAKE LEVEL WAS PRESSED. WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NEW, PULLING THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER WOULD DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. HAD THIS HAPPENED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION THERE WOULD HAVE ALMOST CERTAINLY BEEN AN ACCIDENT.

THE LATCHING MECHANISM THAT HOLDS THE RIGHT SIDE SADDLEBAG CLOSED IS WEARING THROUGH. THIS SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY A DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS THE LATCH AND ITS CATCH ALIGNED SO THAT THE VIBRATION FROM RIDING CAUSES THE MATERIAL TO WEAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE LATCH TO BREAK AND THE SADDLEBAG LID TO COME OPEN WHILE RIDING, WHICH COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS AROUND.

BIKE IS PRONE TO STALLING EITHER FROM DOWNSHIFTING OR OPENING THE THROTTLE SUCH AS STARTING OUT FROM A STOP OR LOW RPM SHIFT. I'VE PUT ABOUT 200 MILES ON THIS BIKE AND NOTICED THE BIKE HAS STALLED MORE THAN 10 TIMES WHILE PULLING FROM A STOP, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, OR MAKING A TURN. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER CHANGES THE CENTER OF GRAVITY AND BALANCE ON THE BIKE AND IN ONE CASE I HAD TO QUICKLY BRACE THE BIKE WHILE BRINGING THE BIKE UNDER CONTROL. THE END EFFECT WAS THE BIKE CRUSHED MY FOOT UNDER THE EXHAUST AS THE BIKE WAS IN A LEAN WHILE TURNING. RESEARCH INTO THIS "STALLING" SHOWS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS BIKE. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ECM / FUEL / AIR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. I'M CONCERNED THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. AS I WAS CONDUCTING A PRE-RIDE CHECK, I TURNED THE ENGINE ON, AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS, IT SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. THIS REPEATED A COUPLE OF MORE TIMES, AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. AFTER ANOTHER COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, EVEN THE LIGHTS AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUT OFF WITH NO RESPONSE. THE BIKE HAD COMPLETELY DIED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MOTORCYCLE VICTORY DEALER, AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER SOLENOID HAD MELTED, AND THE CIRCUIT BREAKER HAD BLOWN OUT. IT'S FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAPPENED AT HOME DURING A PRE-RIDE CHECK, AS IT WOULD HAVE CAUSE A SERIOUS CONCERN IF I WERE RIDING THE BIKE.
