Vehicle suddenly brakes at freeway speeds and sways to one side. VSA light and warning light comes on. After couple of seconds, vehicle resumes freeway speed. This has happened few times in last 2 weeks. It causes the SUV to sway and can easily lose control or drift into adjacent lane causing accident. After stopping and restarting the warning lights go away.

THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTS NOT SMOOTHLY, D4/D5 LIGHT BLINKING, WON'T EXCEL WHEN GAS IS APPLIED, HAD TO CUT THE CAR OFF, WAIT 5MIN, TO DRIVE FOR TWO BLOCKS BEFORE HAVING TO REPEAT THIS PROCESS TO GET IT HOME 12 BLOCKS AWAY, ONLY WOULD EXCEL 20MPH (BOUGHT IT ON WEDNESDAY, ON TUESDAY OF THE NEXT WEEK, THE PROBLEM BEGAN). THE CAR HAS 127,000 MILES AND HISTORY OF OIL CHANGE/TRANSMISSION SERVICES. AFTER SEEKING ANSWERS, PER REPAIR PAL, THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSIONS WITH ALL YEARS OF THIS MODEL, SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO GET THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED/REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN PLACE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK IN DRIVE AND IT MAY GO OR MAY NOT GO... REALLY JUST DEPENDS ON HOW THE CAR WANTS TO ACT THAT DAY. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, CITY STREET, PARKING LOT, HIGHWAY, WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, LOW SPEEDS DURING SCHOOL ZONE OR RESIDENTIAL AREA.

MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WAS DAMAGED. SEEMS LIKE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ACURA MDX. I WONDER WHY THERE IS NO RECALL. THE DEALER COVERED THE REMANUFACTURED PART BUT I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR LABOR THAT RAN TO ~$3000.

We have been the original owners of our 2005 MDX. on December 12/18/21 at 630. We were wearing our seat belts. We were driving in clear weather on a new street at 35 miles an hour. The passenger side seat airbag and the right side curtain deployed. My wife was sitting in the front passenger seat. There was no collision or hazard. The Airbag just exploded. We were not hit by any metal objects. The Mdx is in perfect working order and we are now told no one will cover the damage. Insurance and the Dealership. We are writing to find out how we can get a fair outcome from our car becoming unusable due to manufactures defect. We have not touched the airbag or the car since this happened. Would we be able to have it inspected?

AS I AM DRIVING MY 5 YEAR OLD TO KARATE ON A LOCAL ROAD WITH 40 MILES PER HOUR, MY WHOLE LEFT SIDE AIR BAG CURTAIN DEPLOYED FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. ( I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING AND NO ONE HIT ME EITHER). I GOT A BRUISED HAND, SMALL CONCUSSION AND A MASSIVE RASH ( FROM CHEMICALS IN THE AIR BACK). I CALLED ACURA AND WAS TOLD TO GO FOR DIAGNOSTIC AT LOCAL ACURA DEALERSHIP. I WAS CHARGED $99 AND WAS TOLD TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I ASKED WHY SINCE THERE WASN'T AN ACCIDENT INVOLVED AND THE ANSWER WAS ' I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY PEOPLE COME HERE AND CLAIMS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO THEM BUT HAVE NO PROOF'. I GUESS THE AIR BACK IN MY TRUNK AND NO DAMAGE TO THE REST OF MY CAR IS NOT PROOF ENOUGH!!! I WILL BE TALKING TO A LAWYER AT THIS POINT!

DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT CONNECTOR FAILS AFTER YEARS IN SERVICE. THE CONTROL UNIT IS MOUNTED ON DOOR WITH BRACKET AND TWO SCREW WHICH PUTS UNDUE PRESSURE ON THE CONNECTOR BY PUSHING IT AGAINST THE BODY. OVER THE TIME PLASTIC CONNECTOR (DUE TO CREEP EFFECT) WILL GIVE AWAY AND BECOME LOOSE PREVENTING PROPER CONTACT WHICH WILL DISABLE THE OPERATION OF DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW. MY 2005 ACURA MDX HAS BEEN DRIVING GREAT SINCE WE PURCHASED IT OVER A YEAR AGO. RECENTLY THE VSA LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED VERY ABRUPTLY WHEN LIGHTLY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE LIGHT GOES AWAY AND APPEARS TO RESET WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. NOW EVERY TIME THAT THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN I HAVE TO DRIVE EXTRA CAREFUL BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE VSA LIGHT WILL COME ON AGAIN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS OF THE LIGHT WERE TO COME ON AND THE WHEELS WERE TO LOCK UP LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN WOULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE SKIDDING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.

I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME HAD NO LIGHT APPEARING. THE VSA LIGHT HAS COME ON AND I SEE IT HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PREVIOUSLY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF ALL RECALLS HAD BEEN SERVICED AND THEY INDICATED THEY HAD. I HAVE A HUGE CONCERN KNOWING THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM AND WHEN I ASKED IF THEY COULD REPAIR IT UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL THAT APPEARS TO NOT HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I SOLD MY HONDA ACCORD COUPE FOR A 4 DOOR THINKING HONDA/ACURA PRODUCTS WERE SAFE AND RELIABLE. I HAVE READ FURTHER ABOUT RECALL PROCESSES AND THEY DON'T ALWAYS FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE DEALERSHIP CAN STATE THE RECALL WAS REMEDIED. I HAVE AN INFANT AND THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT A 4 DOOR. TWO DAYS AGO, MY VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ABOUT 45MPH ON A SIDESTREET. AN UNEXPECTED BRAKING WAS EXPERIENCED WITHOUT ME APPLYING THE BRAKE, VSA LIGHT WENT ON. I HAD EXPERENCED 3 TIMES OF UNEXPECTED BRAKING, VSA LIGHT COMING - FOR THE SAME DAY. SO I DECIDED TO CHANGE INSPECT THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE STILL GOOD BUT I DECIDED TO CHANGE THEM ANYWAY. (FRONT: BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS, REAR: BRAKE PADS ONLY TODAY, I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY JUST BEFORE 7AM, WITH A SPEED OF ABOUT 65MPH, SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE MADE AN EXPECTED BRAKING WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE BRAKE. MY VEHICLE ALMOST WENT OUT OF CONTROL FOR A SECOND BUT I WAS ABLE TO HANDLE IT. I NOTICED THAT VSA LIGHT WENT ON - BUT THE ROAD WAS CLEAR, NO BUMPS, NO DEBRIS, JUST PLAIN ROAD.

The contact stated that after the battery had been replaced, both the front driver and front passenger seat belts failed to extend far enough to buckle an occupant into the seat. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where the failure was acknowledged, and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

GRINDING NOISE ON ACURA MDX 2005 MODEL. HAD THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS WHEN PROBLEM STARTED. THE DEALER COULD NEVER IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. ONLY WHEN THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DID THEY FINALLY SAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND MY CAR HAS 75K PLUS, BUT THIS PROBLEM STARTED WAY BEFORE. THIS REPAIR WILL COST ME AT LEAST $5000. I'M SURE HONDA KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND DECIDED TO IGNORE IT. I FEEL CHEATED! VSA light came on and my braking system halts and make a weird vibration when I press brake to stop at stop light it like it make a grabbing noise. Not sure if it happen prior to light engaging. It has happen a handful of time since initial notice could have been onset from around 2019-2020 can’t remember as I looked up any recall but there were recall for this instance but no on my car which makes no sense for my VSA light to engage. I do not drive off road and I live in an island with no major freeways.

I have a 2005 MDX. It allows me to take out my key without putting it in park. Being unaware, I turned it off while it was still in drive and it rolled back into another parked vehicle November of 2019. There is a report with the police department and my insurance covered the other vehicle's repair costs. It has rolled several times in the last couple years but luckily not into other cars. I don't remember having this problem prior to the last couple years. It is a safety issue and dangerous to others and if I can't get it repaired I would need to get rid of it. The problem is it is still in very good shape otherwise and has many more miles to give. There is no warning to help me remember to put it in park. This started happening sometime in mid 2018. Do I have any recourse?

The contact owns a 2005 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bag warning light was flashing with an occupant seated in the seat. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and she was informed that the front driver’s and passenger’s side air bags and seat belt pretensioners were defective and needed to be replaced. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 209,638.

AFTER THE REP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THEY SAID THAT THEY FOUND NO MANUFACTURER DEFECTS BUT THEY COULD NOT SAY WHY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. AFTER A FEW WEEKS GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH CLIENT REALIONS FOR ACURA THEY SAID THERE LEGAL TEAM SAID THEY FIND NO MANUFACTURER DEFECTS AND TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY.THANKS FOR TAKING A LOOK AT THIS.

The contact owns a 2005 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts; however, the failure recurred after driving a short distance. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the OG sensor and the PMP sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened, and the 4WD warning light was constantly illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a traffic light recently, the vehicle unintendedly downshifted and nearly stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be repaired for the most recent failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A PRIVATE AUCTION IN HESPERIA, CA AROUND AUGUST OF 2020 AND I AM CURRENTLY THE REGISTERED OWNER AS OF TODAY. ABOUT A MONTH INTO THE PURCHASE I NOTICE THE CAR JERK AND BRAKE UNUSUALLY WHILE IN MOTION. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED AT THE TIME SO I IGNORED IT FOR THE MOMENT. THEN ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH AFTER THAT INCIDENT MY WIFE, KIDS AND I WERE TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH ON THE 15FWY HEADED SOUTH AND THIS TIME IT HAPPENED ONCE AGAIN AND MORE AGGRESSIVELY DUE TO IS TRAVELING AT A MUCH GREATER SPEED AND DID JERK A LOT HARDER ALMOST MAKING MY WIFE LOSE CONTROL. LUCKILY SHE WAS ALERT AND PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER RIGHT AWAY AND THAT'S WHEN WE NOTICED A NEW LIGHT ON THE I DASH HAD ILLUMINATED. WE SEE THE ACRONYM (VSA) ILLUMINATE AND I HAD NEVER SEEN THIS PARTICULAR LIGHT BEFORE SO I THEN START TO RESEARCH IT. I FIND OUT IT'S PART OF AN ANTI LOCK FEATURE AND IT'S SUFFICE WHEN DEALING WITH CURVY ROADS AND HELPS WITH TRACTION WHICH GIVES SMOOTHER TURNS WHILE DRIVING AND GIVES BETTER CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO READ IT'S BEST TO KEEP THIS FEATURE OFF WHILE COMMUTING IN YOUR REGULAR EVERYDAY TRANSIT. SO AS MONTHS GO BY IT HAPPENED TO ME A GOOD HANDFUL OF TIMES AFTERWARDS BUT AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND THIS TIME THE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF WHEN I TRIED TURNING OFF THE VSA CONTROL BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE DASH. I DIDN'T HAVE MEANS TO REPAIR THIS PART SO I PUT IT OFF ONCE AGAIN. WELL COMING TO A MORE RECENT EVENT WHICH RESULTED IN MYSELF LOSING CONTROL WHILE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AT 11:30PM AT NIGHT AND TOTALING THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS FLIPPING THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT CAME TO A REST ON ITS SIDE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THE VSA FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED MADE ME LOSE CONTROL AT 62-65 MPH ALMOST CLAIMING MY LIFE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE IT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MY RECENT ACCIDENT WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN LIFE THREATENING AND HAS CAUSED FINANCIAL STRESS UPON MY FAMILY.

THE ISSUE AT HAND REGARDING THE VSA (VEHICLE STABILITY) FOR WHICH A RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN ISSUED. MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN AND RECEIVED THE RECALL. THIS HOWEVER DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE WHICH IS A SERIOUS ISSUE MANY OTHERS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FACE. THE "YAW RATE SENSOR" MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING SIMILAR BUT MORE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS THAN THE "WIRING HARNESS" ACURA CLAIMS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE VSA ISSUE. THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SEEMS TO BRAKE VERY HARD PULLING MY VEHICLE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND NEARLY FLIPPING THE VEHICLE THE ON 7/28/15 AT 65 MPH. THE SITUATION IS EXTREME AS OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING. IT IS NOT A BRIEF AND NON DRASTIC PULL. IF BOTH HANDS ARE NOT ON THE WHEEL AT THE TIME OF MALFUNCTION THE VEHICLE MAY VERY WELL FLIP OVER. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINING THE ISSUE FIGURING THE ISSUE WAS LINKED TO THE RECALL; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT. THE YAW RATE SENSOR IS CAUSING MY CAR TO THINK I'M SPINNING OUT WHICH IMMEDIATELY STOPS SENDING POWER TO THE FRONT LEFT TIRE CAUSING MY CAR TO VEER HARD TO THE LEFT. I, ALONG WITH MY WIFE, PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING SLOT WITH SEAT BELTS SECURELY FASTENED AND STARTED DRIVING. AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE CAR WENT INTO SUDDEN ACCELERATION. I HAD NO CONTROL ON BRAKES OR ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO FIND A WAY TO STOP THE CAR. I STEER THE CAR ON TO MIDDLE CURB OF THE PARKING LOT. FIRST I HIT THE GATE, WHICH WAS FLEXIBLE AND DID NOT STOP THE CAR. NEXT THING I HIT WAS A LIGHT POLE. THE CAR STOPPED WITH BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, LOT OF DAMAGE TO CAR (COMPLETELY TOTALED) AND CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY TO ME AND MY WIFE WHO WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. DUE TO THE SPEED OF THE CAR, THE CONCRETE BASE WAS LIFTED FROM THE GROUND AND THE POLE FELL IN FRONT AWAY FROM THE CAR. WE BOTH CHECKED INTO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CRASH. THIS WAS CAUSED BY MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE CAR. THE REASON I SAY THIS IS BECAUSE: A) I JUST LEFT THE PRAYER HALL, WHERE I GO FREQUENTLY AND AM FAMILIAR WITH THE SURROUNDING WHERE OTHER CARS ARE PARKED AND MOVING, PEOPLE ARE WALKING TO AND FROM THEIR CARS, AND HAD NO REASON TO ACCELERATE; B) I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ACCIDENT FREE FOR PAST 39 YEARS, MY DRIVING RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF; C) DRIVING IS REQUIRED IN THE PROFESSION I AM IN, WHERE I HAVE TO VISIT CLIENTS FEW TIMES A WEEK; D) I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE CAR BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR FOR OVER 4 YEARS. E) I AM A FAMILY MAN AND NOT A RECKLESS DRIVER. I CARE TOO MUCH FOR MY FAMILY, AND ESPECIALLY MY GRANDSON, TO TAKE A CHANCE LIKE THIS; F) I AM PERFECTLY HEALTHY AND CONSCIOUS ABOUT MY SURROUNDINGS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE YAW SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. IT WAS A COLD NIGHT IN JANUARY AND I WAS USING THE SEAT HEATER. MY WIFE WAS WITH ME. WE SMELLED SMOKE AS MY DRIVER'S SEAT GOT VERY WARM. WE NEVER SAW FLAMES, BUT THERE WAS SMOKE. IT'S UNFORTUNATE THAT HONDA MOTOR CO HAS NOT TAKEN ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION TO ADDRESS THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH ITS ACURA MDX TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND I AM CALLING FOR A FULL FEDERAL INVESTIGATION ALONG WITH A POTENTIAL CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST HONDA. A VEHICLE OF THIS CALIBRE ON A LUXURY LINE, COSTING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IS SUPPOSED TO LIVE UP TO ITS REPUTATION. TO BE FURTHER PROACTIVE, I ASK ALL THE MDXERS FOR US TO START A CHAIN BLOG FOR ACURA AND THE OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS TO SEE HOW EXTENSIVE THESE PROBLEMS ARE. ACURA HAS BEEN LESS THAN COOPERATIVE DURING MY INTERACTIONS WITH THEM. SO FIRST LET ME TALK ABOUT THE PROBLEMS AND ISSUES ON MY MDX. IT STARTED WITH GRINDING AND WHINING NOISES COMING FROM MY 2005 MDX WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I BROUGHT IT IN TO OPEN ROAD ACURA OF WAYNE, NJ SEVERAL TIMES TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT ISSUE STILL REMAIN TODAY. FINALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING 50-60 MPH, WHINING NOISE FROM ENGINE AREA DEVELOPS. IT CAN BE UNBEARABLE SOMETIMES, SORT OF WHAT YOU EXPERIENCE WITH EARACHES ON A PLANE. THE ENGINE IDLES ROUGH, IN A GRUNTING WAY. INITIALLY, CONSTANT NOISE CAME FROM THE TENSIONER PULLEY. I PAID AND GOT THAT FIXED EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A RECALL ISSUE. TWO WEEKS INTO BUYING THE CAR BRAND NEW, SOMETHING IN THE DROP DOWN DVD SCREEN WAS RATTLING AND I GOT THAT FIXED. THEN, THE DVD/NAV FROZE ON ME CAUSING YET ANOTHER REPAIR AND TIME LOST. SO, NOW BACK TO THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. I CONTACTED ACURA HQ AND THEY ASKED ME TO CONTACT THE DEALER. I ASKED FOR THEM TO INITIATE CALL TO DEALER BUT SAID THEY WEREN'T ALLOWED TO DO SO AND ALL REPAIRS IS AT DISCRETION OF DEALER. NOW WHAT HAPPENS IF CAR SEIZES WHILE I'M DRIVING CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH? ACURA HAS REFUSED TO EVEN CALL ME BACK AS A COURTESY AND HAS NEVER DONE SO WITH ITS CUSTOMER. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT DEALER CLAIMS ITS AT THEIR COST. DEALER SERVICE IS GOOD, POLICY IS BAD. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OUR ACURA MDX CAR'S FRONT RIGHT RIM HAD AN UNEXPECTED RUPTURE AS A RESULT THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ON FIRST REACTION, WE THOUGHT WE HAD A FLAT TIRE BUT LATER WE FOUND OUT THE TIRE WAS OK BUT THE TIRE RIM WAS WEAK AND HAD A HOLE LEADING TO RELEASE OF AIR PRESSURE GIVING A FEELING OF A FLAT TIRE. WE TOOK OUR CAR TO NEAREST DEALER AT 70 MILES FROM THE SCENE AND PAID TO CHANGE THE RIM. THE DEALER MENTIONED THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. IT WAS VERY SCARY FOR US TO BE IN THAT SITUATION , WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF THERE WAS A MOVING VEHICLE BEHIND US. WE STRONGLY BELIEVE ACURA HAS DEFECTIVE RIM WHICH ARE BIG SAFELY ISSUE. 2005 ACURA MDX WITH 60K MILES. APPROX 5K MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY ABOUT 65MPH ALL LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE DASH CAME ON, LOST ALL POWER AND CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN IMMEDIATELY. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE TURN OFF THE CAR WAITED FOR A WHILE AND STARTED AGAIN IT DROVE NORMALLY HOME. NEVER HAD A CRAZY INCIDENT TILL THIS MORNING AT STARBUCKS. DRIVING ON CITY STREET 1 BLOCK FROM ENTERING FREEWAY I FELT A STRANGE GRABBING AND VIBRATION TYPE SENSATION FROM MY 2005 MDX. A FEW FEET FURTHER THE CAR FELT LIKE I HAD STEPPED ON BRAKES AND GAS AT THE SAME TIME AND LITERALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. THE CAR BEHIND SWERVED AND BARELY MISSED ME. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED ACURA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. HAD I BEEN ON THE FREEWAY THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MULTIPLE CAR COLLISION THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS WONDERFUL BUT I FEEL THAT SINCE I ONLY HAVE 70,000 MILES ON THIS CAR; THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND THE LOCKING OF THE WHEELS AT ANY SPEED IS UNACCEPTABLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ACURA MDX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN. SHE SIDESWIPED A PARKED VEHICLE ON THE STREET. ALSO, THE BRAKES JOLTED SPONTANEOUSLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND NO INJURIES. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. BOTH VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE TIE ROD WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT IS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTERS REGARDING THE DAMAGES FOR REPAIR. SHE WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 25,000.

THE DEALER HAS HAD THE VEHICLE FIVE OUT OF THE EIGHT WEEKS THAT THE CONTACT HAS OWNED THE VEHICLE. AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES, SHE WAS FINALLY INFORMED THAT THE BRAND NEW TIRES WERE CUPPING AND CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,395.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20MPH THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART AND THE BATTERY WAS DISCHARGED. AFTERWARDS, THE AIRBAG AND TIRE MOUNTING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY THE DEALER AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE NAVIGATION UNIT WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. THE ENGINE STALLING PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED BUT CONTINUED TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS A SHORT WITHIN THE AIRBAG SRS MODULE WIRING. ALTHOUGH THE AIRBAG PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED, THE STALLING CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE STALLING PROBLEM.

I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. EVERYTIME I STARTED FROM A STOP OR HIT THE BRAKES TO STOP THERE WAS A THUDDING NOISE OR BANG SOUND. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT AND THEY SAY IT IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY HAD TO SITUATE THE GAS TANK TO ACCOMMODATE THE THIRD ROW SEATS. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE GAS TANK IS NOT COMPLETELY FULL AND THE FUEL MOVES IN THE TANK AND MAKE S THE TANK EXPAND AND CAUSES THE NOISE. THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY SAID SAME THING, THEY KNOW ABOUT IT BUT NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *NM
