my daughter drove the vehicle for an appointment. Parked it went in and upon return, started it but could not turn the steering wheel. It was nearly impossible to turn the wheel. When turned with force, it would vibrate. Message popped up stating "Power Steering System (EPS) Problem". I had it towed to my mechanic who identified the problem but wasn't able to obtain the parts due to non-availability. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership (McGrath Acura of Libertyville) where it still remains. It has been there for about two weeks as of Dec. 17, 2025 and still not updates on when the issue would be fixed. I made a phone call complaint to Honda of America three days ago. They left a message today asking me to call back stating a recall (I don't find any EPS recalls while I've found others who have had the same issue. The dealer did quote me a cost of $1247.25 to fix the problem the day after I dropped it with them. Since then absolutely no response. I called Honda of America to follow up on their call but was not able to talk to the person as it went to their voicemail. I left a message and will follow up again tomorrow. I am the original owner of the vehicle and the vehicle has always been serviced on time based on the manufacturer's recommendations with the dealer and an independent mechanic. Thank you.

The EPS system failed while driving on a major highway. I was in the passing (left) lane, and had to manually steer the vehicle. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. The service department has had the vehicle for almost 2 weeks. They said that when they ran the diagnostic, there was a code. They cleared the code, and drove the vehicle. They were unable to duplicate the incident. The service advisor said it may have been a “glitch.” That’s an extremely dangerous “glitch.” I have read that many other people have had the same issue with the same vehicle. This may have fatal consequences. If I had not been strong enough to steer the vehicle, I may have experienced a relatively high-speed collision.

WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING (CAR WAS STOPPED OR GOING <3 MPH). IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I CHECKED TO BE SURE NOTHING WAS STUCK IN THE WHEEL WELLS OR OTHERWISE BLOCKING THE TIRES. AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT, POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN RE-TRYING TO PARALLEL PARK, BUT THEN POWER CAME BACK TO NORMAL. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER YET. IT STARTED ALL OF THE SUDDEN TODAY AND APPEARS TO HAVE RESOLVED SPONTANEOUSLY. BUT I WORRY THAT IT WILL RETURN, PERHAPS LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT.

The power train experiences jutters. Known issue and many torque converters have been replaced while under warranty. Our vehicle had minimal miles when warranty expired and now this problem has occurred. Have followed all of the recommended technical bulletins from Honda and the issue is not resolved. They now say to replace the torque converter at own expense.

My vehicle has a hesitation and kick when it is at 35-40 mph about 1.8 to 2 on the tachometer. I took it in to the dealer and it needs transmission repair. I researched on the internet and it seems like thousands of others are having or have had the same problem. I purchased a lifetime powertrain warranty from Scott Clark Honda when i purchased the vehicle to cover these problems and the warranty company and Scott Clark Honda are trying to get out of repair. There are no lights or warning lamps on the vehicle. It just kicks and studders when you get to 35-40 mph which is the speed in the city limits. It is easy to get hit or run over when the vehicle does not go when you press the gas peddle. I would like to file a national case against Acura and Scott Clark Honda

The contact owns a 2014 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle was jerking upon acceleration and deceleration. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transmission control module (TCM) software was updated, and the transmission fluid was flushed; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the transmission control valve solenoid had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who provided the same diagnostic information. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

Transmission surges when shifting between 1st gear to 2nd, feels like rear ended, the whole car jumps. Acura of America seems to not have a fix for this issue that a lots of 3rd generation ACURA MDX owners suffer from . Acura dealership only suggestion is transmission fluid flush, which is not a real fix for the transmission jump that can cause a serious accident while operating the vehicle in traffic. Acura Of America is aware of this issue but !!! No safety recall been addressed.

I HAD THIS 2014 ACURA MDX FOR 4YR SINCE 2016 AS CPO AT LOCAL ACURA DEALER. SINCE 2YRS AGO, MY RPM DO NOT CLIMB STEADY AND IT IS JUMPING UP AND DOWN ,ESPECIALLY AT THE SPEED BETWEEN 40 TO 60. I THOUGHT IT IS JUST TRANSMISSION FLUID ISSUE. ONCE I REPLACED TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED, LEVEL OF FLUCTUATION BECAME LESS THAN PREVIOUS. BUT AFTER COUPLE MONTH LATER, IT IS STILL SAME. I AM WONDERING THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN FOR ANY ACURA MDX OWNER MANUFACTURED IN SAME PERIOD. I THINK THIS COULD BE SOFTWARE ISSUE RATHER THAN MECHANICAL ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED TO BE REPAIRED OR UPDATED. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY CLAIM SAME AS WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING. THE VEHICLE START SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS OR WITH EMERGENCY BRAKING. BRAKING EFFICIENCY MAY BE SUFFERING AS WELL. THE DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR UNDER NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY. I PAID FOR THE FRONT ROTORS TO BE RESURFANCED AT 38000 MILES BUT THE PROBLEM IS BACK AT 45000 MILES. THE DEALER IS PERFORMING THE SAME REPAIR BUT CONCERN IS THAT THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING. THIS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.

WHEN DRIVING DOWN A LONG, DOWNHILL SLOPE THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE REST OF THE CAR STARTED SHAKING WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. FROM A SCALE OF 0 TO 10 I WOULD GIVE IT A 6 OR MORE FOR THE SHAKING. IT IS PRETTY BAD. THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED TO MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD. AT THAT TIME I JUST BARELY OWNED IT FOR LESS THAN A YEAR FOR MY ACCORD.

DROVE THE VEHICLE (22,000 MILES) ON THE HIGHWAY THROUGH DEATH VALLEY IN SEPTEMBER WITH TEMPERATURE ABOUT 105 F. ON THE DOWNWARD SIDE OF A PASS ON HWY 395 AND WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH, CAME INTO A VIEW AREA AND USED THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHOOK WITH A LOUD NOISE ENGAGED ALSO USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND IT CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD. I DID GET IT STOPPED AND IT SAT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES WHILE I WAS OUT TAKING PICTURES. GOT BACK IN AND SLOWLY STARTED DOWN THE ROAD AND THERE WAS A VERY SMALL FEEL OF VIBRATION WITHIN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES AND THEN IT WAS NORMAL AGAIN. SINCE IT WASN'T AN IMMEDIATE ISSUE AFTER I GOT BACK DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AS IT WASN'T BEEN USED. THE DEALER IS 115 MILES AWAY SO IT TAKES A SCHEDULE TO TURN IT IN. ON 3 DECEMBER DID TAKE IT IN AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM THEY CAME UP WITH THE PROBLEM AS BRAKE PULSATION WITH ROTORS THAT NEED TO BE RESURFACED. WHAT OCCURRED WAS MORE THAN PULSATING BRAKES SINCE IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN AND IF IT WAS JUST THAT IT SHOULD STILL STOP, AS NECESSARY.

OUR 2014 ACURA MDX'S BRAKE ROTORS HAD TO BE RESURFACED AFTER ONLY 13,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALER NOTED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MANY SIMILAR CASES WITH THE NEW MDX BECAUSE IT'S SO HEAVY. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A DESIGN PROBLEM RELATING TO A CRUCIAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. WE ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS, NOR DO WE LIVE IN AN AREA WITH LOTS OF STOPS.

OUR MDX EXPERIENCED A LARGE AMOUNT OF BRAKE SHIMMY GOING DOWN A HILL THAT ALMOST CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. WE WERE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE ABILITY OF THE VEHICLE TO STOP. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE BRAKES ROTORS WARPED FROM OVERHEATING. OVERHEATING SHOULD NOT OCCUR DURING NORMAL USE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RATED FOR TOWING UP TO 5,000 POUNDS.

Paint. Delaminating at the sealer. Paint flakes randomly fall off car over the years. Acura verified this was a factory defect and the common area is occurred was the roof. This was covered for my car 03.2019 under an extended warranty but was only limited to the roof. I specifically asked to fix the whole paint job since this was a FACTORY defect and they stated they will only fix the area with the current damage. Well now time has passed and this has now happened on my left passenger door and Acura will not cover any part of fixing their factory defect. Terrible on Acura for selling a product they know has a FACTORY defect and they will not stand by their product.

WHILE TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT 75 MPH IN THE FAR LEFT LANE OF AN 8-LANE INTERSTATE, THE HOOD SUDDENLY FEW OPEN AND CRASHED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD WAS OF COURSE SHATTERED. VISIBILITY WAS OF COURSE IMMEDIATELY AND DRAMATICALLY REDUCED. I BENT FORWARD AND TO THE RIGHT TO LOOK THROUGH THE SMALL SPACE IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE HOOD. FORTUNATELY IT WAS A SUNNY MID-AFTERNOON AND TRAFFIC WAS ONLY MODERATE. WITH ASSISTANCE FROM GOD, MY PASSENGERS, AND COOPERATIVE AND OBSERVANT NEARBY DRIVERS, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY NAVIGATE TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND EVENTUALLY OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT FURTHER DRAMA, DAMAGE, OR ANY INJURIES TO THOSE IN MY CAR OR OTHERS.

THE VEHICLE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILED AFTER THE BOLT BACKED ITSELF OUT. THE FAILURE OF THIS BOLT RESULTED IN THE VEHICLES INABILITY TO ENGAGE THE COMPRESSOR AND AS A RESULT THE A/C DOES NOT WORK AND JUST BLOWS HOT AIR. IT APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO THE RECALL ISSUED ON CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2014-2015 ACURA MDX'S; MINE WAS MANUFACTURED IN 3/2014. THE LOCAL ACURA DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR UNDER THE RECALL FOR SOME REASON EVEN THOUGH THE PART FAILURE, AS DESCRIBED BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN, IS EXACTLY WHAT IS ADDRESSED BY THE RECALL. APPARENTLY, MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE OF THE DATE RANGE ADDRESSED BY THE RECALL.

Recall (M49) Moisture may enter the tailgate lid lights, possibly causing a loss of the tailgate lid lights and the taillights. Acura dealership confirmed repair back in 2019. I am currently having the same issue with the loss of my taillight. I raised concern with Acura and they confirmed that they release me part number that they didn’t use for the initial repair, which leads me to believe this issue was never fixed. The dealership then told me that they would not be able to repair this issue unless I had an extended warranty. I am requesting a review as this is a major safety issue and a traffic citation concern on the same grounds that the M49 recall was initiated.

The outside rear taillight was FULL of water. I discovered this when going to replace bulbs I thought were just burned out. In fact one of the bulbs was shattered I presume from the water reaching the hot light. The taillight is non functional and I will have to take it to be repaired/replaced. I should not have to pay for what is very clearly an manufacturer defect that compromises safe vehicle operations. Acura did a recall for the interior tail light for this same issue, but did not include the outer taillight. A simple google search shows this is not an isolated incident but rather a major problem.

DRIVERS SIDE REAR TAILLIGHT ON QUARTER PANEL. SEALS FAILED AND FILLED WITH WATER RENDERING DRIVING LIGHT TO MALFUNCTION. TOLD DEALER ABOUT PROBLEM AND THEY SAID RECALL ONLY AFFECTED INNER REAR HATCH LIGHTS. CAR IS GARAGED ITS WHOLE LIFE. CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WHILE TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET, THE COMPUTER STARTED TO CHANGE RADIO STATIONS, FAN SPEEDS, TEMPERATURE, AND HEATED SEATS WITHOUT ANY OPERATOR INPUT AND IN A VERY RAPID MANNER FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. BY THE TIME WE GOT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE SYSTEM HAD RESET AND THE DEALER ADVISED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. SINCE THEN, WE CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS AND THEY NOW INCLUDE THE COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM GOING OFF WHILE SITTING STILL, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA WILL KEEP OPERATING WHILE DRIVING FORWARD, THE TOUCHSCREEN PANELS QUIT WORKING FOR UP TO 10 MINUTES AT A TIME, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM WILL SHOW INACCURATE INFORMATION, AND THE PANELS HAVE GONE BLANK AND THEN SHOWED THE MESSAGE HDD ERROR, CONTACT SERVICE. LAST MAY, I HAVE PURCHASED A 2014 MDX( TECH+ADVANCED) AT ACURA DEALERSHIP IN VALENCIA,CA. ITS CURRENT MILEAGE CLOCKS AT 7200 MILES. SO FAR, I HAVE VISITED THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE REQUEST FOR OVER 10 OCCASIONS.I HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED THE A/C INDICATOR RANDOMLY BLINK .AND NOW AFTER DRIVING 6,500 MILES MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING THIS CRICKETING SOUND INSIDE. BUT, THE SERVICE MANAGER I SPOKE TO STILL SAYS IT'S NORMAL.HE SAID ALL 2014, 2015 MDX ARE LIKE THAT. BUT I CAN'T HELP TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN OVER THIS. I change my own engine oil every 3,000 miles. During the past year with three oil changes completed, I have observed aluminum pieces in the bottom of the oil change black pan. Because my wife's 2017 Acura TLX was the subject of the crankshaft and connecting rod campaign (the dealer had to replace the crankshaft and all of the connecting rod and main bearings) I am familiar with the issue of non-concentric crankshaft connecting rod journals, and so have been surprised that my 2014 MDX with the same 3.5 L V6 has not yet been included. I am pretty sure it does suffer from the same defect as evidenced by the aluminum in the engine oil. If it fails at hihway speeds, that would possibly cause a safety incident.

I'M seeing several reports where ACURA has a major recall on their MDX models from 2016-2020 however i have a 2014 model but I have suffered the same engine failure due to a connecting rod issue that has caused what they call a spun bearing I have tried to contact American Honda to file a complaint but they just keep denying me since my vehicle is not part of the recall but by sheer coincidence my engine has failed I had no warning signals that would of indicated this problem and I have had the car fully maintained by ACURA Dealerships since I bought the car in 2017 I see where several hundred other complaints have been filed due to ACURA's faulty issues - ACURA needs to expand their recall list to go back as far as possible since they seem to be having the same issues with previous models not included in the recall

THE VEHICLE THAT I USE FOR DAILY COMMUTE, ACURA MDX, HAD A BREAK DOWN ON 5/16/16. IT WAS LATER TOWED TO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP ( SUBURBAN ACURA ). THE CAUSE OF THE BREAKDOWN WAS DIAGNOSED AS OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE DUE TO TAMPERING. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP ON 4/23/16 WHEN NO PROBLEM WAS NOTICED. MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS PARKED IN A SECURE LOCATION AT WORK ( MONITORED BY VETERANS POLICE AT THE VA HOSPITAL ) AND AT HOME IN A SECURE GARAGE. I ASKED THE VA POLICE IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF TAMPERING AT WORK AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE NOTICED IT SINCE THE AREA IS UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE. I STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT THE SUV WAS COMPROMISED ( TAMPERED / DAMAGED ) DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO THE BREAKDOWN AND THE DEALER IS TRYING TO DEFLECT THE ISSUE BY CITING TAMPERING AS THE CAUSE. WHEN ASKED IF THIS WAS POSSIBLE, ACURA CUSTOMER SERVICE ( MRS APRIL AT 800-382-2238 EXT 115239 ) & THE DEALERSHIP ( SUBURBAN ACURA, FARMINGTON HILLS, MI )DENY THIS BY VERBALLY STATING THAT " ENGINE HEATING DUE TO THIS KIND OF TAMPERING WOULD RESULT WITHIN LESS THAN 5 MILES OF DRIVING AND I WOULD HAVE NOTICED IT ON THE DAY THE SUV LEFT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT WENT FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE" I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HOW I COULD DRIVE MORE THAN 20 MILES TO WORK OR BACK HOME IF TAMPERING DID HAPPEN AT EITHER WORK OR AT HOME. This car is consistently garaged. It was pulled out one morning and a large sheet of paint peeled off roof while it was sitting in the driveway. This is a major concern as I don't feel comfortable driving the car for fear more will come off, affecting another driver on the highway. I've had to borrow a car until it can be fixed. Spoke to ACURA and this is a KNOWN issue for this color paint but they will not stand by their product. We have received no information from ACURA regarding this issue as they claim.

The white paint on the roof of my car peeled off in huge chunks between the sunroof and the windshield. Acura had extended the warranty on the paint to 8 years from the date in service and ours was fine at the deadline. However, now at 11 years in, the paint has completely failed. It appears that there are a large number of other Acura owners who are having issues with the paint on their white MDXs, and Acura is in some cases saying that their VIN numbers are not included. It is an obvious problem with the white paint since Acura issued the warranty extension, but the limit was arbitrary and it is ridiculous that a "luxury" SUV has peeling paint that will result in an expensive repair job.

My vehicle was part of a recall and Acura extended warranty protection for the paint between the windshield and sunroof. This was a manufacturer defect with the paint when the car was made. It did not happen to my car until October 2023 and Acura will not fix the paint due to end of the warranty extension that was issued by NHTSA. I was told to contact you from Acura corporate. They said the regulation to not cover any vehicles with this paint issue, was coming from NHTSA. The paint was applied incorrectly when the car was made and it’s causing a big circle of paint to randomly come off of the area of the car between the windshield and sunroof. I’m concerned the paint will continue to chip away and start coming off in large pieces. This is a manufacturer defect and should not be time limited.

Upon engine start noticed vibration buzz noise and steering wheel locked, very difficult to steer. Turned off the ignition and waited 20 min, steering wheel was back to normal. Upon driving in the road for approximately 5-10 min, the wheel locked up with notification alert of "Electrical Power Steering Failure" It was very difficult to maneuver the steering wheel and manage to pull into a parking lot. Turned the ignition off and waited again another 5min and Upon restart, wheel was back to normal. As we were on our way home, the same alert came with steering wheel locked and difficult to turn. We managed to get home with difficulty turning. Car was towed to Acura Plesanton and was reported no recalls for this issue.

The contact stopped and inspected the vehicle and discovered that the glass sunroof had shattered. The contact stated that there was no impact to the sunroof glass to cause the glass to shatter. UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION AND FAILURE OF COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM 2014 ACURA MDX ADVANCED. ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT A STRIP MALL PARKING LOT LOCATED 1 MILE FROM MY RESIDENCE WHERE I WAS GROCERY SHOPPING. WEATHER 65 F SUNNY. HEAVY PEDESTRIAN AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. I WAS PARKED HEAD IN DIAGONALLY. I PLACED MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL,PLACED THE SUV IN REVERSE,LIFTED MY RIGHT FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND SLOWLY BACKED OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE,STRAIGHTENING THE WHEELS IN THE PROCESS.I PLACED MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE, SHIFTED TO DRIVE, AND PLACED MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND WITHOUT ACTUALLY DEPRESSING THE PEDAL THE ENGIN REVED UNCONTROLLABLY AND THE SUV SURGED FORWARD 100 FT AT INCREASING SPEED BEFORE COLLIDING IN A DOMINO FASHION WITH A ROW OF 6 VEHICLES PUSHING ONE OF THE VEHICLES OVER ONE OF THE ADJACENT VEHICLES BEFORE VEERING OFF TO THE SIDE AND TRAVELING AN ADDITIONAL 200 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A STOP.THE DRIVERS SIDE CHEST AND KNEE BAGS DEPLOYED WHEN I IMPACTED WITH THE FIRST VEHICLE.I DO NOT REMEMBER IF I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE.THERE WERE NO INJURIES.THE DAMAGES TO MY SUV WERE EXTENSIVE. MY INSURER DECLARED IT A TOTAL LOSS.I HAVE PHOTOS TAKEN AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT SHOWING SKID MARKS AND THE DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLES BEFORE THEY WERE MOVED. MY INSURER HAD MY VEHICLE EXAMINED BY AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN.HE CONCLUDED THAT I SIMULTANEOUSLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR BECAUSE OF THE PEDAL WARE PATTERN. ALSO THE DIAGNOSTIC PORT DID NOT SHOW AN ERROR CODE.HE DID NOT EXAMINE THE EVENT DATA RECORDER (BLACK BOX). I DO NOT AGREE WITH HIS CONCLUSIONS. I BELIEVE I DID NOT STEP ON THE PEDALS SIMULTANEOUSLY. IN RETROSPECT I BELIEVE THAT I ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED ONE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS LOCATED ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN I WAS BACKING UP AND STRAIGHTENING THE WHEELS.

I GOT INTO A PARKING SPACE, AND PUSHED THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR JUMPED ONTO THE SIDEWALK. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND THEN THE CAR STARTED SPEEDING UP. THE CAR CRASHED THROUGH THE WINDOW OF AN EMPTY STORE. I TRIED TO PUSH THE BRAKE EVEN HARDER BUT IT DID NOT WORK. THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED WHEN IT HIT THE WALL INSIDE THE STORE. I WAS IN A SHOCK. LUCKILY, NOBODY WAS INJURED. I FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET BUT COULD NOT FIND A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE. ONE OF THE PREVIOUS CLAIMS STATES: "ACURA IS CLAIMING THAT NO PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND WITH OUR VEHICLE." THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND COULD RESULT IN FATALITIES. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO DO IN ORDER THIS ISSUE TO BE INVESTIGATED SERIOUSLY?

WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE DURING A LEFT TURN, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT WORK. ALL ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. TRAVELING 65 MPH ON A FREEWAY WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) ENGAGED, VEHICLE SUDDENLY BRAKES HARD ON ITS OWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON; DROPPING 10 MPH IN A HEARTBEAT. THE VEHICLE DID NOT PRODUCE A COLLISION WARNING MESSAGE ON THE DASH. OUR VEHICLE IS AN ACURA MDX 2014 WITH THE ADVANCE PACKAGE. ONE FEATURE OF THE PACKAGE IS ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WHICH AIMS TO KEEP THE VEHICLE MOVING AT A STEADY RATE AND AT A SET DISTANCE FROM ANY VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN VEHICLES IN FRONT OF OURS SLOWS DOWN OR A VEHICLE MERGES FROM ANOTHER LANE IN FRONT OF US (EVEN TRANSIENTLY), INSTEAD OF GRADUALLY BRAKING AND SPEEDING UP, THE ACURA PERFORMS SUDDEN DECELERATION WITH HARD BRAKING EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT IS DOING THE SAME SPEED OR GOING ONLY SLIGHTLY SLOWER. Headlights somehow may be taking on moisture. The clarity is down to almost nothing. Driving at night is unsafe! The RPM’s have never been smooth or consistent. There is almost a micro-revving effect. I’ve had all of the fluids and filters changed…… dealership thought it was a recall.

The contact owns a 2014 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while approaching the vehicle after the vehicle had been started, the contact noticed that the taillights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the taillights assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred approximately two months later. The contact received an email notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V259000 (Exterior Lighting, Interior Lighting), which the contact related to the failure; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

ABS VSA malfunction light comes up constantly and car rattles when brakes are used. It’s constantly turned on even with good road conditions. There are millions of customer complaints on the web about this issue and I believe this should be logged as a major issue which should be logged a recall and offered as a fix to customers who have these car models and issues. My daughter was driving the car and experienced issues on freeway when braking. The car slipped to the side when brakes were pushed and the whole car was shaking and unstable.

There is a known issue of Certain Acura MDX models having a "judder" (i.e. bouncing rev counter) at certain speeds. This causes the torque converter to not lockup and continue to find the right gear, per se. This is a known issue and Acura has a TSB (16-062) for this: https://www.tsbsearch.com/Acura/16-062 The issue is, even though, unaddressed in a timely manner and continual use of the vehicle may deteriorate the transmission, Acura doesn't fix this free of charge for vehicles not under warranty. Dealer quotes $800+ for a total 1.6 hours of work (based on the TSB bulletin). This is outrageous and monopolistic behavior in a free market. Moreover, typical mechanics doesn't have access to the special computers needed to perform the software update, required by this TSB. I am reaching out to request Acura (Car manufacturer) to cover this under recall and not charge the customer this ridiculous ~$400/hr labor rate just because I can't update the software from a local mechanic.

On numerous occasions the Electric Power Steering, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist problem lights illuminate on the dash and I lose all power steering. My car becomes extremely difficult to turn, particularly at lower speeds. This is a major safety hazard and warrants a recall. Had my wife been driving when this occurred she would not be able to turn the vehicle. This has happened on several occasions over the past 2 weeks. The car is being taken to the dealership tomorrow. Note: it appears that Acura and Honda have extended the warranty on several models for a similar issue, but not the 2014 Acura MDX.

Went out with family recently and all of a sudden front passenger side seat belt buckle won't latch. I took it to the dealer (Pohanka Acura). They said seat belt buckle has to be replaced and it will cost approx. $1000. I called Acura and they said this is not a warranty issue. Car is only 7 years old and front passenger side is used only occasionally by an adult. I would like Acura to pay for the replacement of my seat belt buckle.

NOT A MINUTE AFTER WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR, THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DID AN INVESTIGATION AND CLASSIFIED IT AS UNDETERMINED, BUT MECHANICAL IN NATURE. WE BOUGHT OUR ACURA BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER IN 2014 AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT SERVICED AT THE ACURA DEALER. WE HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR, OTHER THAN REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THEY FORCE THE HEAD FOREWARD AND LEAVE A BIG VOID FROM THE TOP OF YOUR SHOULDERS TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR HEAD. THIS COULD BREAK YOUR NECK IN A COLLISION BY FORCING THE HEAD. SORT OF A REVERSE WHIPLASH, IF YOU WILL. WORST OF ALL, THEY CAUSE ME A LOT PAIN ON LONG TRIPS. PLEASE RECALL THESE AND REPLACE THEM WITH TILT-ADJUSTABLE HEADRESTS.

THE SCREEN PANEL WAS AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN. I HEARD A DEEP SPARKING SOUND (LIKE A MINOR EXPLOSION SOUND). THIS SITUATION HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE AUTO WAS EITHER RUNNING ON A HIGHWAY (60-70 MILE/HOUR) OR ON THE LOCAL DRIVING (20-40 MILE/HOUR) EVEN WITHOUT ANY VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE MDX. IT SEEMS THAT THE ISSUE HAS NO ANY ASSOCIATION WITH WEATHER CONDITIONS.

BAD BRAKE ROTORS AT 12000 MILES STARTED FACING VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN MDX HAD 8K MILES ON IT AND AT THAT TIME DEALER TOLD THAT ITS NORMAL IN MY NEXT SERVICE FOR OIL CHANGE I TOLD THE DEALER TECH THAT I AM STILL FACING THE PROBLEM AND ITS QUITE SIGNIFICANT. HE STATED THAT ITS ROTOR SURFACE ARE UNEVEN AND WARPED AND HE HAS TO RESURFACE ALL 4 OF THESE ROTORS. HOW CAN ROTOR GETS WARPED AT 12-13K MILES. ITS FAIRLY NEW CAR. MY CONCERN IS TO REPLACE ALL THE BAD ROTORS BUT DEALER INSISTED THAT THEY WILL RESURFACE THOSE ROTORS. RESURFACING REDUCES THE LIFE OF THE ROTORS AND THEN I CALLED ACURA AND THEY ASSIGNED ME DISTRICT CASE MANAGER AND IN TURN THEY TALKED TO DEALER AND FINAL RESULT IS THAT THEY WILL RESURFACE IT NOT REPLACE IT. IF THE PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE THEN THEY SHOULD REPLACE IT. I THINK THE AMOUNT OF CONCERNS REGARDING 2014 ACURA MDX THEY ARE RECEIVING REGARDING THE BRAKES ARE ENORMOUS AND THEY SHOULD RECALL OR REPLACE THE ROTORS. ENGINE NOISE/ TRANSMISSION NOISE. I TOOK IT TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY STATED THAT ITS EITHER FROM ENGINE OR FROM TRANSMISSION AND THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION TO IT. UPDATE FROM APR 25, 2016 THIS IS UPDATE FROM LAST TIME WHEN NIELLO ACURA COULD REPLICATE THE NOISE BUT THERE WASN'T ANY SOLUTION TO IT. I CALLED ACURA HQ AND THEY SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR ACURA TECH-DPSM ON 04/21/2016 TO DRIVE AND NEXT DAY I GET CALL BACK THAT THEY COULD REPLICATE THE WHISLING NOISE BUT THE SAME NOISE ALSO CAME FROM OTHER 2014 MODEL THEY DROVE. FIRST, I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. I HAVE DRIVEN TO FLORIDA AND NC WITHOUT ISSUE. TODAY WILL BE THE 4TH TIME TAKING MY CAR TO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. TODAY THE CAR STARTED TO KICKBACK WHEN I REACH 20MPH. ALSO, AT 80MPH THE CAR IS JERKY WHEN I ACCELERATE OR DECREASE AND GO AGAIN. ALSO WHEN I RELEASE THE GAS, THE SPEED DECREASES QUICKLY AS OPPOSED TO GRADUALLY. PRIOR TO THAT ISSUE, SOMETHING NEAR THE TIRES WAS SCRATCHING OR SOMETHING WHICH THEY CLAIMED THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. WHAT LED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME WAS THE VEHICLE WAS JERKY AT DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE ACCELERATING. ACURA PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE WHICH FIXED THE ISSUE FOR A COUPLE DAYS. AT SOME POINT, THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RE-ASSESSED AND POSSIBLY TOTALED OUT OR SOMETHING. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND ALWAYS ON THE RUN. SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2013, I NOTICED THAT THEIR WAS A LOUD VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT DRIVER'S SIDE NEAR THE WHEEL WELL WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 - 45 MPH. THIS VIBRATION WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN TO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP, IT WAS STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. TWO YEARS LATER, THE ISSUE IS STILL OCCURRING AND THE DEALERSHIP "CAN'T DUPLICATE". ADDITIONALLY, NOTICED THAT THERE WAS BUBBLING OF THE FRONT GRILL CHROME PAINT. LATER IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THE LEFT FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW PANELS WERE WARPED. DIDN'T MAKE TOO MUCH OF A FUSS ABOUT EITHER ISSUE, BUT IN THE SUMMER OF 2015, WHILE RUNNING MY CAR THROUGH A CAR WASH, THE PANEL POPPED OFF AND BEGAN FLAPPING IN THE WIND. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THE WINDOW PANEL WAS REPLACED. AT THIS TIME, I ALSO INFORMED THEM THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEGUN TO START EXHIBITING ISSUES UPON ACCELERATION LIKE IT WAS STRUGGLING TO GAIN POWER. YOU COULD ALSO SEE THE RPM INDICATOR BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED. THIS WAS ALSO HAPPENING BETWEEN 30-45 MPH. DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY ISSUES. DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE. I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL LOSE POWER WHILE I AM DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE OWNED MULTIPLE ACURAS AND THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE IS BY FAR THE WORST OF ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED.

TODAY, THE DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS THIS NEW ISSUE, AND STILL IGNORING THE OLD ISSUE, WHICH WAS CAUSED WHILE MY CAR WAS IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PAST MONTH. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY ACURA. THE DEALERSHIP IS ALSO SAYING "THEIR HANDS ARE TIED." I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CALL THEIR NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND THEY HAVE GIVEN ME THE RUN AROUND, INSISTING THAT ALL OF THEIR SUPERVISORS AND CASE MANAGER ARE IN MEETINGS.
