I purchased a 2016 Acura MDX during the summer of 2025. I am the second owner. In November 2025, the engine starting experiencing engine knock later to be confirmed as rod bearing knock. This vehicle if a 2016 MDX and the manufacturing date is October 2015. There is a rod bearing recall for 2016 MDX's however, my VIN is not included in this recall which is ludicrous as it is experiencing the same issues as the recall with only 80,000 miles on the engine. I urge you to widen the recall to include 2015 MDX vehicles as there is no way this Acura MDX should be experiencing rod bearing issues on a well taken care of vehicle.

​On November 28th at 10:00 AM, my 2016 Acura MDX suffered a catastrophic and sudden engine failure that resulted in a total loss of motive power. I was driving on Scott Boulevard in Santa Clara, just after exiting the Central Expressway. ​I first heard a loud metallic noise, and the engine immediately seized and shut down. The vehicle started slowing rapidly on a busy street, creating a life-threatening safety hazard for myself and other drivers. The car spontaneously shifted into Park and it was difficult to manually shift into Neutral for towing. Thankfully, no accident occurred. ​The failure is due to a connecting rod bearing failure and engine seizure. This is the identical safety-related manufacturing defect acknowledged in Safety Recall 23V-751 and is currently the subject of the ongoing NHTSA Preliminary Evaluation (PE25008), which covers the same 3.5L V6 engine in vehicles outside the original recall, including the 2016 MDX. The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. There were no warning lights available. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with a fractured connecting rod bearing, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

Started hearing a "knocking" sound from the engine compartment, whose frequency clearly was proportional to engine RPM. Took vehicle to local trusted mechanic who diagnosed that it was likely related to known crankshaft bearing issue, which is the subject of a widespread recall on Acura vehicles. Found that the vehicle does not fall within the recall window. Sent vehicle by tow truck to nearest dealer who confirmed diagnosis. They claim poor maintenance, but all required maintenance, and definitely all engine oil changes were completed at required intervals with proper fluids and filters. Since dealer is 60 miles away, most maintenance was done with local trusted mechanic, although some oil changes were done personally or at a quick lube service. The vehicle is a 2016 model year, consistent with the model years affected by the known defect and recall. Dealer is advising that a new engine is required. There is no reason a properly maintained vehicle with only 150,000 miles should have a failed engine.

I have a 2016 Acura MDX with 87,000 miles that has bad rod knock. Service Bulletin 23-036 talks about it. Even though my MDX's VIN is not listed in the recall, I am having the exact same problem the recall is supposed to be for. I feel this recall should be expanded to cover my vehicle as it is listed in several places that the recall is for all 2016 Acura MDX's which is what my vehicle is. ------------------------ Subject: Safety Recall: 2015–20 Multi-Model Connecting Rod Bearing Stop Sale. Affected vehicles: Certain 2015–2020 Acura TLX V6 and 2016–2020 Acura MDX models. Cause: A manufacturing defect in the crankshaft can lead to connecting rod bearing wear due to lack of lubrication and excessive heat, potentially causing engine damage and failure. Action: The bulletin initiates a stop-sale order for affected vehicles and provides instructions for inspection and repair, which may include replacing the connecting rod bearings, crankshaft, or short/long block. Status: The bulletin has been revised. Version 1 was issued on November 9, 2023, and was replaced by Version 2 on February 9, 2024. Parts Availability: Parts and repair kits became available in early 2024, with repairs being prioritized for vehicles showing symptoms like engine rod knock or stalling.

This submission supplements my existing NHTSA complaint regarding Recall 17-010 and the 9-speed automatic transmission ATF warmer defect. My vehicle received Recall / Product Update 17-010 service on March 10, 2017, at which time the transmission was replaced. The final redesigned ATF warmer did not exist at that time. The ATF warmer installed with the replacement transmission was an earlier design. The vehicle returned for a second Recall 17-010 service visit on December 9, 2017. The service record from that visit explicitly states that the ATF warmer was not replaced, noting that it had been replaced during the prior visit. As a result, the recall was initiated but not completed with the final redesigned ATF warmer. Acura later issued TSB B17-026, extending warranty coverage to 10 years from original in-service date with unlimited mileage, because damage from ATF/coolant contamination may occur years after initial exposure, even if fluids later appear normal. In 2025, the vehicle developed transmission noise. An independent transmission specialist advised that the vehicle exhibits bearing failure, with the extent of damage unknown until teardown. Bearing failure is a known delayed consequence of ATF/coolant contamination associated with the ATF warmer defect. The vehicle was delivered to an authorized Acura dealership for evaluation under the warranty extension. However, the dealership has refused to perform the warranty inspection unless payment is made, and has stated that the vehicle is outside the warranty period, despite the warranty extension remaining in effect through January 2026. This supplement is submitted to document that: •Recall 17-010 was started but not completed with the final redesigned ATF warmer; •The final corrective part was never installed on this vehicle; and •Corrective action and inspection related to this incomplete recall and warranty extension are currently being denied.

This vehicle is affected by Acura’s 9-speed transmission warmer defect covered under: • TSB B17-009 – Product Update: Transmission Warmer • TSB B17-010 – Product Update / Warmer Replacement • TSB B17-026 – Warranty Extension: 10 years from in-service date, unlimited mileage These bulletins address failures of the transmission warmer that allow coolant and ATF to mix, causing internal transmission damage. My MDX was used by Acura in early 2016–2017 as an engineering/diagnostic vehicle when this defect was being investigated. Repair history: • March 2017 – Transmission replaced, but the updated warmer (released later in 2017) was not installed. • December 2017 – Acura performed a coolant/ATF line flush due to contamination, confirming fluid mixing from the warmer failure. Current issue: My transmission is again showing symptoms consistent with damage caused by the same warmer defect. Despite the active 10-year/unlimited-mileage warranty extension, the dealership refuses to perform the required warranty inspection unless I first pay a $138 diagnostic fee. Under the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, a dealer may not charge for diagnosing a defect that may be covered under a warranty or recall. Acura Corporate says the dealer “is allowed to refuse,” and the dealer says they need Acura authorization. As a result, no inspection has been performed. The vehicle has been sitting at the dealership since October 1 with no diagnostic work completed. Concerns: • Failure to perform a safety-related warranty inspection • Failure to complete the product-update remedy • Charging for a warranty-covered diagnosis • Leaving a known defect unaddressed I request NHTSA review this matter, as it involves an active safety-related defect with a warranty extension where both the manufacturer and dealer refuse to complete the required inspection and repairs.

The Acura MDX, which had always been serviced at an Acura dealership, had 121,007 miles on it when the transmission completely failed without prior warning. I was driving with the d cruise control on at around 70 mph when I took the car off cruise by touching the brake to take the exit ramp onto I-10. I suddenly lost power, the engine still runnning, the car was on the exit ramp, which was uphill and exiting from I75 South. I had to coast to a stop and stopped between in a trouble area between the exit ramp and the fast lane on I10 east, which the wrecker driver said left the car exposed in a “kill zone.” After stopping, the car would start but all four wheels were locked and the wrecker drivers could not roll the car into a safer location to retrieve the car. They nevertheless pulled the car onto the wrecker while in what they described as a “kill zone,” and I also thought the spot I had to stop was extremely dangerous. The dealership, Key Acura in Gainesville, Florida, advised the transmission needed to be replaced at a cost of $7,200. After that I sold the car to an online site at a price that was basically for junk.

The transmission and motor has failed. Car has 133000 miles. Transmission recently rebuilt. Car continues to malfunction according to the recall but is not listed.

Car stalled in traffic and would not restart, and couldn’t figure out how to put in neutral. We had good samaritans that wanted to push it out of the way, but no one could figure out how to put the car in neutral. Even the police and tow truck driver couldn’t figure out how to put it in neutral. I found out after research that to put it neutral when it will not start requires a special tool that has to be installed by opening the hood. Acura doesn’t even include this special tool.It costs extra. So if you’re are in traffic and your car stalls there is no way to push it out of the way. This is incredibly dangerous in a traffic situation.

2016 Acura MDX in White Diamond Pearl with peeling paint just above windshield. There is a Service Bulletin (19-029) but I am told that my VIN is not covered. Same problem and same color within the year models. Acura has indicated that VIN was not manufactured where the Service Bulletin covers. Clearly, there is a defect with the paint regardless of where the vehicle was built. There is no safety risk from the defect and it is available at any time for inspection. Was unaware of the Service Bulletin until researching how to stop the problem from progressing since the paint is lifting and peeling off.

Paint Peeling on my 2016 Acura MDX with color code NH 603P. This is a frequent problem-- so frequent that Acura issued a service bulletin 19-029. I am hoping for a full recall. the problem is Acura claims this is based on VIN. If you google "problems with 2016 Acura MDX with paint peeling" you will find a SLEW of owners with this same problem but the VIN is not eligible for reimbursement (mine was not eligible either based on my VIN). This is a problem with the color code NOT the VIN. Can NHTSA request a full recall to Acura for all vehicles identified in Service Bulletin 19-029 regardless of the VIN??? Clearly there is a problem with the year, make, model, color code regardless of the VIN>

[XXX] 7 pm. As I was on the highway, warning lights came on the dashboard, “failing transmission, emission failure, and side mirrors failure.” I soon lost a lot of power. I purchased this 2016 Acura MDX in 2019 at Acura of Concord as a Pre-owned Certified with 20k miles. At the time of the transmission failure I had put an additional 17k miles. Total cost for a new transmission was nearly $8000. This does not seem fair to have to replace a transmission with so little miles. It seems as though this vehicle is a lemon. Approximately 3 weeks later, as I coming up the driveway, I noticed a huge chip of paint missing in front of the sunroof area. Now this appears Exactly as the recall or extended warranty demonstrates for 2014-2016 MDX White Diamond Pearl NH-603P. Honda claims this “VIN Does not qualify” for this extended warranty. Even the service manager at Acura of Concord exclaimed, ”How they explain to me that this vehicle does not qualify when it is the same year model, same paint, and that the paint chipped off Exactly the same way as described in the extended warranty recall.” In other words, Honda is forcing me to reach out to you because this VIN is not on the list and they do not wish to acknowledge that they are at fault. I do not feel that it right that I paid $8000 for a new transmission, and now I will have to pay $5303.70 to repair the paint on the roof. Please help me in this matter. The trunk opens like it should, but then closes after the lift gate reaches the top. It will close on your head if you don't move out of the way, which is what happened the first time because I didn't know what was happening. You can stop the lift gate from continuing to close, but then you can hurt your arm due to the force the door is closing with, as there is no auto censor for the door to know something is blocking the path. This event has been reproduced over 50 times in the last week. About 10% of the time, the lift gate works normally. I have an appointment at the dealership in 3 days. Based on a search of TSBs, this problem has been reported multiple times since at least 2019. It had been working normally until this week, started 2/10/24 and is still occurring when I open the trunk. No warning messages appear.

Our 2016 MDX starting peeling paint off the roof. Acura said they extended the warranty for this known defect for an 8 year period. Since this problem just happened we are outside the 8 year extension. The internet is full of similar stories of people like us who have the paint peeling after the bogus 8 year extension. Acura said they aren't responsible. This isn't right.

VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH PAINT PEELING OFF DIAMOND WHITE 2014-2016 WITH PAINT COLOR CODE OF NH603P- SO COMMON THAT ACURA ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN (19-029). THE PROBLEM IS ACURA SAYS IT IS BASED ON YOUR VIN. EVERYTHING I HAVE RESEARCHED SHOWS MOST VINS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT (LIKE MINE) AND MANY PEOPLE ARE PISSED OFF> JUST GOOGLE "2016 WHITE ACURA MDX WITH PAINT PEELING" AND YOU WILL SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. LOCAL ACURA DEALERSHIP SAYS "YOUR VIN IS NOT ELIGIBLE" AS DOES ACURA HQ. I AM SEEKING A FULL RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES NOTED IN SERVICE BULLETIN 19-029 REGARDLESS OF VIN. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. MANY PEOPLE WANT TO START A CLASS ACTION SUIT BUT NO ONE KNOWS HOW NOR DOES ANYONE WANT TO SPEND LEGAL FEES.

White paint is peeling on roof and exposing bare metal. Risk of rust, corrosion and structural degradation. Background: Acura/Honda knows of an issue with their White Pearl paint from 2016 and has issued a TSB to address the paint on certain VIN numbers. However, many owners are finding that even though they have a 2016 White Acura MDX, the VIN is not covered by the TSB. The TSB extends the warranty to 8 years for any peeling of the white paint. Acura/Honda states that only the VINs that are in range of the TSB are affected, however many owners are experiencing the peeling/chipping of the paint even thought their VIN is not in range. A popular online forum, [XXX] has multiple discussions on VINs not in range but still experiencing the peeling/chipping issue. I have attached links to just a few of the discussions I found. The paint on the roof of my 2016 Acura MDX is peeling, as described in Acura Service Bulletin 19-029 in August 28, 2019. The paint code NH-603P matched the service bulletin but Acura is denying me of any warranty because of VIN. This is a known problem for 2014 - 2016 Honda and Acura White Diamond or Pearl White paint NH-603P many people have the same issues based from a quick search on Google but Honda and Acura are denying many people because they ARE NOT expanding the VIN and or only restricting and addressing certain locations. There are no dent or scratches on my roof, no sign of weather damage. They used the same paint and same problem as service bulletin so obviously the problem was not addressed to all 2014 - 2016 MDX. Manufacture should be held responsible and expand their service to other customers with the same paint code as well.

When car is started, attempting to slowly accelerate in reverse or forward you will experience a loss of drive power, transmission does nothing. Then all of a sudden transmission responds and you lurch forward or reverse. Very unsafe situation. Other cars not sure if your moving or stationary.

Recall 23V-751 affecting certain or maybe all 2016 Acura MDX SH-AWD connecting rod bearing failure. The vehicle came to a sudden stop on the freeway after a loud terrible sound from the engine. This left my wife and child on a freeway exit ramp with no way to navigate the car to safety. The vehicle won't start, it makes a terrible clanging noise and stops. It has a seized connecting rod bearing and now a broken connecting rod and several holes punched from the broken rod. It was immediately towed to an Acura Service Center where it was confirmed. Recall 23V-751 described this failure exactly yet my car VIN is not included in the recall even though it is clearly affected by that recall. Acura Client relations refused to add the VIN even after saying they would if the problem was confirmed by an Acura Service Technician which it was but they refuse to add the VIN and repair the SUV.

I purchased the vehicle in 2017. It was certified used by acura dealer but it was practically new; less than a year old with 10,000 miles on it. About a month or so after purchasing I started noticing a an issue when pressing on the gas and the vehicle not responding and a few seconds later it would suddenly jerk trying to catch up to the gear it should be on. Right away I took it to dealership for them to inspect and they said the vehicle needed a "software update" and it should be fine after that. Long story short, it is now 2025 I've taken the vehicle in for a "software update" more times than I can count and I am still living with the same problem. On occasion it gets better and sometimes it gets worse. Especially at higher speeds when the gears seem to go to neutral for a few seconds and then re-engage again on its own which cause jerking/stalling motion.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The motor's rod bearing spun. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The failure could have created enough friction between the bearing sleeve, rod and/or journal bearing to seize the motor and the drivetrain while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes the vehicle was taken to the Acura dealership to be inspected, diagnosed and repaired. There is a recall for the same year, make and model but my vehicle's VIN is not included in the recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has only been inspected by the Acura dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There was a check engine light that produced code P0430 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2) and P0306 (Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected). The vehicle had a loss of power and troubles accelerating under load. The first time the problem was noticed was January 18th, 2025.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 65,445 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 151,000.

Car failed at stops when auto stop is engaged. Vehicle would not restart. This happened at stop lights, stop signs etc. I took in for repair and the starter was replaced. American Honda subsequently issued a notice (not a full recall) for my vehicle for this issue. They offered reimbursement for the repairs. However, when I sent in the repair bill, the refused to reimburse. They need to be held accountable for this issue.

While driving on the interstate miles in cruise control vehicle started to reduce speed quickly. upon pressing the accelerator (as a semi was right behind me) nothing happened. I attempted to pump the gas pedal in desperation of not being hit as no pull off lane was available. After about 4 minutes vehicle was able to accelerate once again no warning signs or lights came on at this time (i had my 4 young children in the vehicle) extremely unsafe and yet no resolution with said issues. This has occurred 4 times as of yet. #2 dashboard display vehicle in park (P)blinking along with codes; lane departure failure, transmission system failure, blind spot failure. During this time i was able to still drive. Dealership verbalized they could not resolve the issue as no codes ect.,(Popped up) or Registered upon diagnosis. Has occurred 3 times. #3 vehicle door windows are loose as if they were going to fall right off. #4 When I start the engine there's a loud noise prior to starting and during idle. #5 Air conditioner stops working in the front only on occasions. Especially on warmer days. #6 not shifting smoothly. #7 Doors sound as if not sealed appropriately. #7 safety features warning of not able to function due yo overheating

IF THE OWNER SITS IN THE CAR WITH THE RADIO OPERATING AND THEN TURNS THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY BUT DOESN'T LOCK THE VEHICLE AND THEN RETURNS AT SOME POINT AND ATTEMPTS TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE AND THEN START THE ENGINE, ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS, THE BATTERY HAS BEEN RUN DOWN EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF.

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE THAN USUAL TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER WAS SHAKEN UP BY THE INCIDENT, BUT WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO RALLYE ACURA (1750 NORTHERN BLVD, ROSLYN, NY 11576, (516) 625-7070); HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT AND DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT DUE TO THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO BE ACCESSED TO PROVIDE A TECHNICAL ANALYSIS. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS TO REPAIR THE COLLISION DAMAGES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT ISSUED ANY BRAKE SYSTEM RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

While driving on the highway this vehicle shifted into neutral and lost power. Once pulled to the side of the road, the vehicle was able to be turned off and re started. This happened to my teenage daughter without warning.

My vehicle is showing the exact same symptoms that the 2016-2018 MDX fuel pump recall is stating but my VIN number is not part of the vehicles being recalled. I reached out to Acura relations and unfortunately, they cannot provide authorization to repair my fuel pump even though my vehicle falls under the same years that this model is being recalled for. I went to an independent shop to try and understand what the problem with my vehicle is and I was told that the high pressure fuel pump seems to be failing and was asked why I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership for the fuel pump recall. Due to this issue I am unable to properly use my vehicle. If i step on the accelerator too hard, the vehicle gets engine misfires and immediately goes on limp mode.

Acura MDX 2016 SH-AWD with 113366 miles diagnosis according to warning lights. DTC test certification codes: P0301 Misfire No. 1 cylinder P0306 Misfire No. 6 cylinder P0300 Random Misfire P0420 Catalyst System efficiency below threshold B1 Recommendation was that the Catalytic converter be replaced. All these codes were identified under Honda's TSB 20-100 dated 2/2021 on Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline models where AH extended warranty to 10 years from date of purchase or 150K. These V6 engines are pretty close to that of the 2016 MDX. Is there a remote possibility that these DTC codes could exist in MDX V6 engines when an issue arises similar to those in the Honda vehicles? These DTC codes appeared 24 hours/37 miles after a routine oil service on 3/26/2024 at Advantage Acura of Naperville with a perfect inspection report. The malfunction occurred in the vicinity of McGrath Acura of Westmont on the following day of 3/27/2024. The concern is if any of the emission system components were damaged during the routine oil service. Advantage Acura have in the past installed brake pads backwards on my Acura TL 2010 for which I do have proof.

My mechanic replaced the battery on May 9th and could smell gas but I had just fueled the vehicle. Two days later is when it got worse while driving back home I pulled over and could smell gasoline inside the vehicle as if an open gas can was sitting in the passenger seat. I stopped using the vehicle and took it to my mechanic and he discovered a crack in the weld on the front fuel rail. This could have harmed my family, pets or myself if it had caught on fire. In 1 hour I used a quarter tank of gas because of the high pressure pushing the gas on to the engine. Vehicle taken to Anchorage Acura and the Acura mechanic confirmed what my mechanic found. There were no warning lights or indications of anything wrong until I could smell the gas.

On a multi-day road trip, the car had a temporary complete loss of power on two separate days. Both times this happened after several hours of driving at highway speeds on I-15 in California, outside temperatures were in the 90s. After a slight deceleration and then applying the accelerator again, there was a 'clunk' like sound possibly from the transmission, and then a complete loss of power. The first time I tried to pull over to the breakdown lane, and then regained power after about 2-3 seconds. The second time, we were in the middle of traffic and were not able to pull over, but again after 2-3 seconds, the power came back. The engine did not rev up when applying the accelerator and there were no dashboard lights. This appeared to be either a transmission, fuel delivery, or engine management/drive by wire issue. While we luckily did not get into an accident, we did slow down significantly on the highway, requiring other drivers around us to break, or change lanes. I have made an appointment with my independent mechanic, but the car has not been inspected yet and I am not able to forcibly reproduce the issue.

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, WILL REV HIGH THROUGH FIRST, JUMP INTO 2 STILL REVVING HIGH BEFORE FINALLY MOVING WHEN IT HITS 3RD. IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN OTHER TRAFFIC IS ONCOMING AS YOU ARE EXPECTING TO "GO" & NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. On 9/12/2025 driving on the highway in stop and go traffic, the idle stop feature engaged, but the engine would not restart upon taking foot off break. Put vehicle into park and held start/stop button for couple seconds to turn off, then was able to restart vehicle by pushing start button. Couple days later went to start vehicle while parked and accessories came on, but engine wouldn’t start. After a few attempts, got vehicle to start.

Vehicle always smells hot or as if something electric is burning in the engine compartment. Have always had scheduled maintenance and have taken it in on time for all oil changes and maintenance to be performed. Have asked for this to be checked at that time and when the smell has become over powering. Engine lights have popped up and then all lights have shut off two separate times previously to the point where I had to turn off the vehicle. I have taken it to two dealerships and another mechanic to look for the cause. They are not able to determine the cause but recommend I contact Acura as this sounds like a warranty issue.

IT IS COMPLETELY EXPOSED ON THE SEAT FRAME WITH NO PROTECTION. THE ACURA COST TO REPAIR FOR PARTS AND LABOR IS $993.42 PLUS TAX. "THIS REPAIR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT WAS BROKEN, ONLY MANUFACTURES DEFECTS ARE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY."

I have a 2016 MDX v6 88k miles and I purchased the car as a Certified Pre Owned (CPO). I recently had two lights come on 1) Blind Spot Info System Problem and 2) Transmission System Problem. The car has been driving fine and has been well maintained. Since the lights came on, I've put about 8000 miles on it over the last 6 months and no change to the way it drives (transmission seems to work fine). It seems odd that both lights come on at the same time? Recently my family took a 150 mile trip and both went off during the trip but then did both come back on later that day. Looked on line and it seems many are having this exact issue. I can provide more links to websites if needed. The dealership wants us and others to pay for a new transmission and installation charges. It seems odd that most if not all are having these issues just after the warranty expires. Reminds me of that issue with Volkswagen a few years ago when they would pass emission test when they went to get tester because the computer was programmed to recognize the driving habits of being tested but the other 995 of the time it failed. Also seems odd that cars made in 2016 have a shorter life span than cars built in 1980's. My vehicle is currently in for service at the local dealership (Acura of Seattle) and they want me to pay $8000+ for a new transmission.

Transmission issues with my 2016 Acura MDX slipping into neutral and staying there while driving at high speeds on interstates. This could've caused injury to myself, my passengers, and other drivers on the road due to the high speeds. Without being to able to accelerate when needed, it could've resulted in harm. Transmission Service Problem and Blind Spot Malfunction lights appeared. I took the vehicle to Acura for service 3 weeks before the last incident and Acura said there was no problem and to bring it back if it happened again. 3 weeks later, it happened again. I had reported slippages in the transmission for several service checks with no issues found by Acura. After the most recent incident, Acura recommended to either keep driving and bring it back or replace the transmission. Diagnostics were run and error codes cleared. The CSR at Acura mentioned he saw this on at least 5 Acura 2016 MDXs this year already. The warning lights did not appear until the last issue. Several other incidents occurred with no warnings. All transmission maintenance activities have been performed.

My SUV would accelerate when going down hill and the message: “transmission system problem”along with “blind spot warning malfunction” would come on. Took to dealer the message went out. Will come on intermittently. This has gone on For past month. They sai it had to stay on for them to diagnose. Now car will not go in reverse at all. This transmission was replaced November 2019 because of a defect. They told me there is no recall but the other was a service bulletin that required my engine to be replaced as well. If there is a class action I want to be added as this is a big inconvenience and the company is denying there is an issue with the transmission computer system so they can get us to pay high repair fees. Please help!

I believe my transmission or the electrical component(s) to my transmission failed. I was driving down the road and all of a sudden my car shifted into neutral and would not allow me to accelerate so we had make our way to the shoulder to put the car in park. Having my vehicle thrown into neutral while driving and not being able to accelerate put not only us, but other drivers at serious risk! There were several warning messages popping up on our screen (see attached photos). In researching this issue, I found that there had been several TSBs and a class action lawsuit claiming the same issue faced by many drivers. It is currently at the Acura dealership getting serviced and they will be replacing the entire transmission and TCM harness under the CPO warranty. I cannot believe there has not been a recall on this potentially life-threatening issue.

LIMPED OVER ONTO SHOULDER, TURNED VEHICLE OFF, CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. WHEN TOW TRUCK ARRIVED AN HOUR LATER, STARTED VEHICLE AND IT RAN NORMALLY....DROVE VEHICLE TO PROCTOR ACURA, FOLLOWING TOW TRUCK. DEALERSHIP AND FACTORY PERSONNEL UNABLE TO DETERMINE PROBLEM. DECEMBER 4, 2018 - 1 HOUR INTO 3 HOUR TRIP, WIFE TRAVELING ALONE ON INTERSTATE 10E, MOBILE, AL. WHILE ON BRIDGE ACROSS MOBILE BAY, VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. AS SHE WAS COASTING ONTO NARROW SHOULDER, FRANTICALLY PUMPING ACCELERATOR, VEHICLE RE-ENGAGED AND TRIP WAS COMPLETED WITH NO FURTHER ISSUE. UNSURE IF WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. MARCH 8, 2019 - 3.5 HOURS INTO 5 HOUR TRIP, TRAVELING ON HWY 49N, BETWEEN HATTIESBURG AND COLLINS, MS. VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, EMERGENCY FLASHERS CAME ON BY ITSELF, VEHICLE NEVER LOST ACCELERATION. PULLED OVER ONTO SHOULDER, LEFT ENGINE RUNNING, AND THEN DROVE APPX 5 MILES TO A SONIC DRIVE-IN. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, CALLED ACURA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE #. RESTARTED ENGINE, EMERGENCY FLASHERS NO LONGER ON, OTHER WARNING LIGHTS STILL FLASHING AND DROVE TO DESTINATION. STARTED TRIP BACK HOME THE NEXT DAY, WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ON UNTIL A THIRD OF THE WAY, THEN THOSE LIGHTS WENT OFF. TOOK VEHICLE TO TIM SMITH ACURA, FT. WALTON BEACH, FL. MET WITH DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER, WHO EXPLAINED DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS MADE, BUT WOULD PROVIDE NO ASSURANCE WHATSOEVER PROBLEMS WOULD NOT REOCCUR. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY DO A NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE HOWEVER THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE REPORTING THIS L. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. ACURA HAS NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLES BUT ISSUED A TSB15-034. I HAVE RECEIVED THIS TSB UPDATE BUT THE PROBLEM HASN?T BEEN FIXED. MY 2016 MDX HAS HAD ITS TRANSMISSION REPLACED TWICE. THE SYMPTOMS ARE USUALLY "CHIRPING" NOISES AND/OR ROUGH/VIOLENT SHIFTING BEHAVIOR. ON THE VERY DAY THAT I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FROM THE ACURA SERVICE SHOP AFTER ITS 2ND TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, THE VEHICLE STILL WILDLY EXHIBITED "CHIRPING" NOISES, ALL OF WHICH ARE DOCUMENTED IN A YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT WE TOOK WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME THAT DAY. EVEN AFTER 2 TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS, THE TRANSMISSION IS BEGINNING TO EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS YET AGAIN. THIS IS A LEMON TRANSMISSION. THIS WEEK, I HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SPECIALIZES ONLY IN ACURA/HONDA VEHICLES INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION. HE DOCUMENTED THE "CHIRP" NOISE AS WELL AS "HARSH" AND "ERRATIC" SHIFTING. THIS IS ALL DOCUMENTED IN WRITING ON HIS WORK ORDER RECEIPT, WHICH I CAN PROVIDE UPON REQUEST. THIS MECHANIC ALSO SUGGESTED THAT IF THE TRANSMISSION FAILS, IT COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC CRASH AND POTENTIAL INJURY OR DEATH TO OCCUPANTS DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION. PRIOR TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, MY LOCAL ACURA SERVICE SHOP GAVE ME THE "RUN-AROUND" SONG-AND-DANCE BY SAYING THEY CAN'T FIX ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY WERE "UNABLE TO RECREATE THE SYMPTOMS". THEY STATED THIS DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAVE EXTENSIVE VIDEO/AUDIO EVIDENCE OF THE SYMPTOMS ON YOUTUBE OF MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE.

IF A TRANSMISSION FAILS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (OR ANY SPEED), THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND COULD VERY EASILY GET CRUSHED BY AN 18-WHEELER. A DRIVER AND/OR A WHOLE FAMILY COULD DIE. YOU SHOULD GO AFTER ACURA BEFORE SOMEONE HAS TO DIE AS A RESULT OF ACURA'S NEGLIGENCE. MY 2016 ACURA MDX HAD ITS FIRST TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IN OCTOBER 2016 AT AROUND 14,000 MILES AND ABOUT 18 MONTHS INTO OWNERSHIP. I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS A BRAND NEW CAR FROM AN ACURA DEALER. I AM THE ONLY OWNER, AND IT HAS BEEN "BABIED" AND RECEIVED PROPER MAINTENANCE FROM ACURA DEALER SERVICE SHOPS ONLY. LEADING UP TO THE 1ST TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING AWFUL "CHIRPING" NOISES UPON SLIGHT ACCELERATION AT SLOW SPEEDS. AFTER THE 1ST TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, ALL SEEMED FINE UNTIL RECENTLY. AT AROUND 38,000 MILES (SPRING 2019, STILL BARELY WITHIN THE 4 YEAR WARRANTY), THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS. AT 39,000 MILES, THE MDX RECEIVED ITS 2ND TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. ON THE VERY DAY THAT I PICKED IT UP FROM THE 2ND TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT REPAIR WORK, THE MDX STARTED MAKING FAR WORSE NOISES THAN BEFORE THE REPAIR WORK. IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP AGAIN AND ACURA SEEMS TO BE AT A COMPLETE LOSS FOR HOW TO FIX IT PROPERLY FOR A 3RD TIME! THERE ARE MANY ACURA/HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON THESE AND ACURA/HONDA-RELATED VEHICLES WHICH USE THE SAME TRANSMISSION. IT IS CLEARLY A WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM PUTTING COUNTLESS DRIVERS/PASSENGERS AT PHYSICAL RISK OR FINANCIAL RISK.

NOVEMBER 10, 2019 TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT ~65 MPH, PRESSED ACCELERATOR TO PASS CAR AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT SPEED UP...FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. AFTER ABOUT 7 TO 10 SECONDS THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY KICKED IN AND THE CAR ACCELERATED. IF THIS HAPPENED ON A 2 LANE ROAD THE LACK OF TRANSMISSION DELIVERING POWER TO WHEELS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. SERVICE APT SCHEDULED WITH ACURA DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NO 'CODES' OR ALERTS IN CARS COMPUTER AND THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE DID SAY THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE...BUT THEY HAVE DONE THAT 2 OTHER TIMES. CAR HAS ONLY 35K MILES ON IT AND WE HAVE BROUGHT CAR INTO ACURA DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES TO ADDRESS THE HARSH SHIFTING OF TRANSMISSION AND TOLD THEM EACH TIME WE FELT IT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE ABOVE INCIDENT OF NO POWER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ON HIGHWAY IS THE FIRST TIME THAT HAS HAPPENED..BUT IS A VERY SERIOUS CONCERN. WE WERE TOLD FOR THE 3RD TIME THAT THE HARSH SHIFTING AND GEAR-WANDERING WAS A 'CHARACTERISTIC' OF THIS MAKE / MODEL CAR AND THAT ACURA HAS BEEN TRYING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATES. I HAVE SEEN MANY ONLINE COMPLAINTS OF THE "GEAR-WANDERING' TRANSMISSION ISSUE ONLINE AND HAVE ALSO READ SIMILAR SAFETY COMPLAINTS OF CAR LOSING TRANSMISSION POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHILE CRUISING AT ABOUT 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE RPM WOULD DROP TO ABOUT 1000 RPM AND NOT ALLOW ME TO CONTROL THE ACCELERATION. REGARDLESS OF VARIOUS ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO LOSE MPH. AFTER 5-10 SECONDS, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPEN ON ABOUT 6 OCCASIONS SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2015. I'VE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE. ON EACH OCCASION THEY STATED A SOFTWARE FIX WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT THIS CONTINUES. I'VE ALSO HAD THE ISSUE OCCUR WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40MPH ON THE CITY STREET. I WAS TOLD BY ONE DEALERSHIP (THE ABOVE INCIDENT OCCUR WHILE MORE THAN 500 MILES FROM HOME)THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED TO RESOLVE AND WOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY, THIS DEALERSHIP PROVIDED ME A COMPUTER CODE FROM MY VEHICLE. MY CURRENT HOME DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO STATE IT IS ONLY A SOFTWARE ISSUE, DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAD BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR MAINTENANCE 2-DAYS PRIOR TO MY TRIP AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED. 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION LURCHES FORWARD WHEN TRYING TO STOP - SENDING THE CAR FORWARD WHILE TRYING TO BRAKE. HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR SHOULD SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS 3-2 AND 1-2/2-1. ACURA DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S THE FUEL SAVER ONCE, NORMAL THE SECOND TIME, AND UPDATED THE TCM/PCM ANOTHER. THERE IS NO ONE ADDRESSING THIS WHEN IT COULD SEND MY CAR INTO ANOTHER CAR WHEN TRYING TO STOP. THE LAST TIME I DROVE IT ON SUNDAY 7/15 I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, GOING AROUND 20MPH WHEN THE CAR JERKED FORWARD, SNAPPING MY NECK FORWARD 12"-14" THEN BACK AGAIN. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW WITH THE SERVICE ADVISER SAYING THE LURCHING IS THE FUEL SAVER AND THAT ACURA WON'T PAY FOR A WARRANTIED ITEM UNLESS THE SERVICE LIGHT/CODES ARE THERE.

My Acura MDX 2016, when stopped in traffic or at a red light will randomly shut down or switch to neutral. It started 2-3 years back. This has happened frequently last few months. Last time i was stuck in the exit of a parking garage blocking the exit. After around 20-30 mins the car decided to start on its own. I took the car directly to a dealer who found no issues with the car. APRIL 25,2019 DRIVING FROM ILLINOIS TO MS AT 75 MPH ON INTERSTATE AND APPLIED BREAK FOR UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND ALL WARNING SYSTEM LIGHTS FLASH THROUGH DASH AND CARE IMMEDIATELY STARTED SLOWING AND HAD NO ACCELERATION AT ALL. DISABLED ALL SAFETY FEATURES. ROAD DEPARTURE, BRAKE SYSTEM, ECT. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES AND ALL BUT TWO LIGHTS REMAINED ON SO CALLED DEALER. TWO LIGHTS REMAINED FLASHING AND CAR NOW SEEMED TO DRIVE OK SO COULD BE BROUGHT TO DEALER ABOUT 80 MILES AWAY. MEMPHIS ACURA DEALER WANTED TO KEEP CAR BECAUSE THEY INDICATED TRANSMISSION ISSUE BUT SINCE LIGHTS WERE RESET THEY SAID TAKE TO DEALER IF COMES ON AGAIN. MILEAGE 92,321. CALLED PEORIA IL ACURA DEALER A WEEK LATER TO CHECK ON ISSUE AND THEY SAID CODE WAS IMPLY A GLITCH. JULY 28, 2019 DRIVING 40 MPH IN TOWN AND ALL SAFETY LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. DISABLE ED ALL SAFETY FEATURES OF VEHICLE. RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES AND EVENTUALLY ALL LIGHTS BUT TWO REMAINED ON. A FEW HOURS LATER ALL LIGHTS WERE NOW OFF. MAKE APPOINTMENT WITH PEORIA IL ACURA DEALER. MILEAGE 97,974. PEORIA DEALER SAID THE LIGHTS SOME ON BECAUSE WE NEEDED OUR 105,000 SERVICING WHICH INCLUDES ABOUT $1500 IN SERVICE LIKE PLUGS AND TIMING BELT. I CHALLENGE THEIR CLAIM (NOT AT THE MILEAGE) THAT ACURA WOULD CAUSE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR US ALL TO GET US TO DO THE SERVICE. THEY SAID UNFORTUNATELY THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS. NEXT WEEK HAD SPARK PLUGS REPLACED SINCE THEY SAID THAT CAUSED MISFIRE CODE. AUGUST 21 2019 AT 99,800 MILEAGE DRIVING 40 MPH ALL SAFETY LIGHTS ON CAR LOST POWER AND HESITATED AND THEN QUICKLY WENT OFF. OCTOBER 6 2019 AT 105,392 MILEAGE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE IN ILLINOIS AT ABOUT 75 MPH AND APPLIED BREAK FOR REST STOP AND ALL LIGHTS ON AND THIS TIME RPMS ROSE TO BETWEEN 5/6. DROVE 20 MPH ON SIDE TO REST STOP. RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES AND ONLY TWO LIGHTS REMAINED. CAR DRIVABLE.

My Acura mdx 2016 is well maintained, only 42500 miles,bought brand new from dealer, problem started 6 months ago, accelerator, rpm goes up even on 20 miles driving, and car just stops and gear goes to park mode..dealer inspected, they said transmission needs to be replaced, contacted NCDS, their respond I passed the warranty of 7 years, not covered. Dealer charging 7100 to fix issues.

I THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION BUT THEY REPLACED THE TIMING BELT PULLEY AND IT'S STILL MAKING THE SAME CHIRPING SOUND. THE CAR IS VERY JERKY WHEN IT SHIFTS GEAR WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE CAR ACCELERATES WHEN IT'S GOING DOWN HILL WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO THE DRIVE 1, 2, 3 BUTTON IS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND WHEN YOU ACCIDENTALLY HIT IT, THE CAR ABRUPTLY SLOWS DOWN AND WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD AND I HAD TO LITERALLY TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AND ANOTHER TIME WHILE IN TRAFFIC, HAD TO KEEP PUSHING THE BUTTON BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO BUT ONLY IDLE. Rear inner tail light on driver side is not working (34155-TZ5-H03). There is active recall on models between 2014-2019 but when checked my VIN it shows it is not covered. I went through the detail of recall and it can be clearly seen that the damage is same as shown in the recall. I will appreciate if someone can provide how do we know that my VIN was not impacted as there could be subcomponent which could have led to same issues as others from this period. I will appreciate if a prompt action can be taken and my vehicle can be added to the recall list as well. Thanks!

WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT ON COUNTRY ROADS,UP AND DOWN HILLS, A DARK LINE APPEARS ACROSS THE TOP HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD. LEAVING A VIEW OF 40 -50 FT. YOU CAN ONLY SEE THREW THE BOTTOM HALF OF WINDSHIELD. VERY DANGEROUS!! I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR ALL THE SAFETY FEATURES IT HAS ON IT BUT NOW I CAN'T DRIVE IT AT NIGHT. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY TESTED HEADLIGHTS ON A WALL WITH A BLACK LINE AND THE LIGHTS HIT 2-3 INCHES BELOW THAT LINE. WAS TOLD IT WAS FINE. I WANTED IT RAISED A BIT BUT WAS TOLD THE LIGHTS WERE JUST FINE AND CAN'T BE ADJUSTED. I HAVE READ SOME COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY SUBJECT. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO TEST DRIVE THIS CAR ON DARK, HILLY, COUNTRY ROADS THAT HAVE NO STREET LIGHTS. I ALSO FINE THAT ON HIGHWAYS, LIKE THE TURNPIKE, LOW BEAMS JUST DON'T GO REACH OUT FAR ENOUGH. I am [XXX] and I have owned Honda/Acura since I was 16 yrs old. My last vehicle was a Honda Odyssey minivan with 423K when I donated it, running well to a family that fostered kids! I bought a new 2016 Acura MDX and now it is 8 years old and has 180K on it. I get the oil changed and other normal service maintenance done only at Honda or Acura dealerships. I have never had a car accident and I take care of the maintenance early. All of a sudden, on Friday, [XXX], I had just started driving ( ~20 minutes in the car) and every light started flashing and the car sounded funny and it was hard to drive. I immediately got off the highway and found a repair place (Red's auto repair) right off the exit. They had me shut off the car. Then they checked the oil, which was showing 70%, and I had just had it changed less than 1000 miles earlier, and it had plenty of oil. They told me I could not drive the car! They said "something is wrong with the engine". Currently, LaFontaine Acura has my car. I have a loaner from them. They said it "spun a bearing" in the engine. Apparently there is a recall for this same problem for my year, make and model, but "currently" my VIN number is not included? And, it is the exact same problem bearing from the recall! THIS IS CRAZY! My car has been well taken care of and I would expect it to get at least 350k miles at least before any issues. If the same problem was recalled for other cars, why not mine? It is un-drivable now. I think that Honda has changed their manufacturing because in 43 years of driving Hondas they always are reliable and work well for years and years. My 5 adult kids drive Hondas as well! Never a problem. I think I got a vehicle with a defect that should not be, especially when the car has always been maintained so well, with the service records to show that. PLEASE HELP GET THIS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR SAFETY! What is my next step to ensure that my car is included? ON 9/3/15, I WAS PULLING INTO MY GARAGE WHEN ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT OFF - TRANSMISSION, CHECK ENGINE, LANE DETECTION LIGHT ETC. SINCE I WAS GOING OUT OF TOWN THE NEXT MORNING, I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND DROVE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. THE CAR WAS IN "LIMP MODE" AND I COULD ONLY DRIVE 35-40 MPH. I SHOWED THE TECH IN THE SERVICE DEPT. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS GOING OFF, AND HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. HE WROTE UP A WORK ORDER WITH THE FOLLOWING INFO: INSPECT FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING AND EVERY WARNING LIGHT IN THE VEHICLE IS ON, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 35 MPH. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WAS CONTACTED BY THE SERVICE DEPT. AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM; THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ON, THEY EVEN DROVE IT FOR 40 MILES. THE SERVICE DEPT. SAID THEY ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO HOLD THE CAR FOR FIVE DAYS. TODAY, 9/8/25 I PICKED UP THE CAR. THE DEALER'S INVOICE READS: CAUSE: LIGHT ON 123505 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES/PROGRAMMED FUEL INJECTION (PGM-FI) RETRIEVE CODES WITH THE HDS, READ DATA, 74 WA3. INSPECTED FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, FOUND DTC P0303 (CYLINDER # 3 MISFIRE) RECORDED FREEZE DATA AND CLEARED CODES, AT TIME OF INSPECTION VEHICLE WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY, TEST DROVE VEHICLE TWICE ON EXTENDED TEST DRIVES AND ENGINE RAN PERFECTLY, NO DTCS ARE RESET NO PROBLEM IS PRESENT AT THIS TIME. SINCE THE SERVICE DEPT. COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT, THIS MEANS THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND I AM DRIVING A DEFECTIVE CAR. THE NEXT TIME THE WARNING LIGHTS GO ON, I COULD BE TRAVELLING ON A CROWDED FREEWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED (WITH MY FAMILY INSIDE), THE CAR GOES IN TO "LIMP MODE - 35 MPH AND AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. While waiting to turn left from a busy street onto a highway, the engine seized. The car was unable to be moved from it's location in the center of the busy street with cars approaching quickly from behind and weaving around my stopped vehicle. I had the vehicle towed to Metro Acura in Montclair, CA and they confirmed that the connecting rod bearing had failed causing the engine to seize. They also confirmed that the vehicle is not part of the existing recall. The engine produced some rough noise prior to failing but otherwise did not provide any warning lamps or other messages.

WHEN DRIVING AROUND 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE I WENT TO SWITCH LANES AND WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED AND ACCELERATION WAS NOT POSSIBLE. ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, INCLUDING ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM, EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM. CHECK ENGINE AND SH-AWD. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES STILL WORKED AND WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING INJURED OR KILLED. HAD CAR TOWED TO CHATTANOOGA ACURA DEALER. CAR WAS OPERATING NORMALLY WHEN THEY RECEIVED IT. ACURA TECH SUPPORT ADVISED DEALER TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM). ALSO WAS TOLD ACURA IS WORKING ON A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TCM BUT IT IS NOT AVAILABLE YET BUT I HAVE LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN THE FIX AND LITTLE CONFIDENCE THAT THIS WON'T REOCCUR. STRONGLY CONSIDERING REPLACING THE CAR

The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitating and jerking while driving. The emissions and AWD warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was a fuel leak, and the fuel pump was replaced. After the vehicle was repaired, the contact started smelling an abnormal burning fuel odor. The contact was informed that the connector within the fuel system was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The odor had become progressively worse over time. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

We have a 2016 Acura MDX and it has automatically shifted to Neutral 3 times (twice while driving on the freeway and 1x yesterday while driving on the street at normal speeds) in the last 2 months. On the MDX dashboard, it will display "Emissions System Problem" and then display "Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual." However, the car will automatically shift to Neutral within seconds. My children's lives (7 y/o and 5 y/o) were placed in danger as a result of this system failure. I have contacted the Acura Honda Recall Specialists and Client Relations Representatives. The car is being diagnosed at Cerritos Acura dealership at the present time. A case number has been filed since our VIN shows no recall, despite it having recalls for other 2016 Acura MDXs.

MY 2016 ACURA MDX. STALLED TWICE. BOTH TIMES IN START AND STOP TRAFFIC WHEN STOPPED THE CYLINDER DEACTIVATION ENGAGED, HOWEVER THEN THE POWER WENT OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING, IT TOOK ABOUT 5-10 MIN THEN THE PUSH TO START WORKED AND THE CAR RESTARTED. AFTER THE FIRST STALL WE TOOK IT ACURA, HOWEVER THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I AM WRITING THIS REPORT AFTER THE SECOND STALL TODAY.

Transmission shifted to neutral limiting controllable forward movement. This occurred without any warning while in traffic. This created a VERY HIGH SAFETY RISK. This issue occurred three times creating a need to have it towed into a repair dealer, diagnostics, and resetting of the electrical circuit. The diagnosis code was P0973.

CAR ELECTRICAL ACTIVATED WHEN START BUTTON WAS PUSHED BUT IT WASN'T CLEAR IF ENGINE WAS RUNNING. CAR WOULD NOT "TURN OFF" OR LOCK. MANY ERROR MESSAGES CAME ACROSS DASH AND CAR WAS NOT PROPERLY RECOGNIZING FOBS. AN ACURA SERVICE CENTER WAS CALLED AND WE WERE TOLD OUR ONLY OPTION WAS TO DISCONNECT BATTERY LEADS OR LET THE CAR RUN UNTIL THE BATTERY DIED. MANY HOURS LATER THE BATTERY DIED. WHEN THE ACURA SERVICE TRUCK CAME TO GET US THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AFTER CHARGING THE BATTERY AND WHEEL TRUCK HAD TO BE CALLED. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE CAR FOR WEEKS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PAUSE. WE HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF THE INCIDENT. NOTE THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN ACCESSORY MODE AND THE BEHAVIOR IS INCONSISTENT WITH ACCESSORY MODE.

RECEIVED 6 REPLACEMENT FRONT WINDSHIELDS, ALL OF WHICH WERE DISTORTED ADJACENT TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER A PILLARS. ACURA ADMITS THAT THERE IS A FLAW IN THE MOLD FOR THIS WINDSHIELD AND HAS DEEMED IT 'ACCEPTABLE'. THEY WILL NOT CERTIFY CALIBRATION OF THEIR SAFETY ELECTRONICS WITH AN AFTERMARKET WINDSHIELD. THIS DISTORTION IS A DISTRACTION AND A SAFETY ISSUE NOT TO MENTION SLIGHTLY NAUSEATING. IT IS NOTICEABLE SPECIFICALLY DURING TURNS.

WHILE DRIVING ON JAN. 7, 2017 IN SNOW MY WINDSHIELD WASHER WAS NOT OPERATING. DUE TO SALE ACCUMULATION THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT AROUND 20-25 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A LOUD SNAPPING SOUND. I WAS MAILED A LETTER ABOUT A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR MY ASSOCIATED VIN. I DEFINITELY HAVE EXPERIENCED ASSOCIATED ISSUES WITH MY MDX. AFTER CALLING THE ACURA DEALERSHIP ON 11/24/17, I WAS GIVEN AN APPOINTMENT FOR 11/28/17 AND I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD INSPECT MY CAR OVER 2 DAYS AND PROVIDE A LOANER CAR. MY EXPERIENCE WAS "TO SAY THE LEAST" THE INVERSE; EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TOOK MY CAR FOR A TEST DRIVE AND TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE TEAM WAS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AS ONCE AGAIN, THE CUSTOMER WAS WRONG. PLEASE ADVISE ABOUT THE NEXT STEPS FOR SERVICE. WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2016 ACURA MDX MODEL AND WITHIN FEW MONTHS, STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE CAR WOULD START STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO PICK UP SPEED. THIS HAPPENED IN A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN IT SUDDENLY STALLED AND COULD NOT PICK UP SPEED. FELT LIKE HAVING NO CONTROL OF CAR SPEED. THE D LETTER ON DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING AND ALSO SHOWED BLIND SPOT MONITOR REPORT FAILURES. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND HE SAID ITS FIXED AND KEPT CAR FOR FEW DAYS. WITHIN VERY FEW DAYS THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. APART FROM THIS, THE CAR WHEN PUT IN DRIVE FROM PARK WOULD START GOING BACKWARDS WITH LITTLE UPHILL WHICH ALMOST GOT ME IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. I FELT VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR ON A HIGHWAY DUE TO THESE SAFETY CONCERNS AS THERE WAS A POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS AND INJURY TO SOME ONE. WE DEMONSTRATED THIS TO DEALER THE THIRD TIME. WE CALLED CLIENT SERVICES OF ACURA MANUFACTURER AND OPENED A CASE. THE REGIONAL MANAGER MENTIONED THEY WILL LOOK INTO THE ISSUES. WE HAD A LONG ROAD TRIP PLANNED AND WE WERE DEPENDENT ON THIS CAR AS IT WAS A FAMILY CAR BUT FELT VERY UNSAFE. THE CLIENT SERVICES OF ACURA HAD COMPLETE LACK OF EMPATHY AND WAS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING. HE KEPT STRESSING THAT WE NEED TO PICK UP THE CAR AND RETURN THE LOANER CAR ALTHOUGH WE HIGHLIGHTED THE SAFETY CONCERNS. WE ARE COMPLETELY DISAPPOINTED WITH ACURA AND STILL FEEL UNSAFE WITH THE CAR NOT KNOWING WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT.

THIS IS ALMOST BRAND NEW 2016 ACURA MDX AWD (WITH TECH AND ENTERTAINMENT PACKAGES). WHEN ACCELERATING ON A FREEWAY/ROAD, SUDDENLY LOTS OF THE WARNING LIGHTS TURN ON AND THEN THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE ANY MORE. THE SPEED SUDDENLY DROPS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A HAZARD - ESPECIALLY BECAUSE I AM TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SO FAR - ROUGHLY 500 MILES BETWEEN EACH INCIDENTS. THE PROBLEM CONDITION GOES AWAY AFTER WE COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF AND ON MULTIPLE TIMES (AND ALSO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL IN BETWEEN). CAR HAS LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT. FOR THE LAST MONTH, THERE HAS BEEN 3 TIMES THAT THE CAR WILL NOT START. FIRST TIME IT WAS JUMPED OFF AND DRIVEN INTO THE ACURA DEALERSHIP..."WIRE TO BATTERY LOOSE". SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP SENT A TECHNICIAN OUT AND THE REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE. THIRD TIME CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIPS AS IT COULD NOT TO BE STARTED AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT IT FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND RETUNED IT TO ME WITH THE EXPLANATION "COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR". CLEARLY THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The vehicle frequently experiences problems while idling at red lights or stop signs. Specifically, the engine suddenly shuts off after displaying a message that "Idle Mode is unavailable." This has occurred multiple times, and on five separate occasions, the vehicle became completely immobile, requiring towing to the nearest mechanic. Initially, I had the flywheel and starter motor replaced, which cost me approximately $5,000. However, just three months later, the same issue reappeared. Most recently, while driving home from work, the idle mode failed again at a stop sign, and the engine stopped running. I contacted Acura/Honda regarding this issue, but they informed me that it is not their responsibility. At this point, I am unsure how to proceed or where to seek a reliable fix, and I am concerned about the safety implications of this recurring failure.

On Saturday [XXX] I was travelling on [XXX] from Orangeburg to Atlanta. I did was not using cruise control but the system was enabled. Enabling the cruise control system on my automatically enabled the LKAS(Lane Keep Assist) feature on my car. On at least two other occasions, specifically going around corners at low speed, I've had the LKAS system grab the wheel and steer the car aggressively to the left. On these prior occasions we were travelling at low speed and the road conditions were questionable as in striping of the roads were not clear. On [XXX], the road conditions were optimal minus being a little wet due to rain. The LKAS unexpectedly turned the wheel hard to the left going around a corner at 55mph and into oncoming traffic. Before I could regain control of the vehicle it veered into a ditch, across a culvert and landed in the ditch on the other side of a driveway. If not for sheer luck both I and the oncoming driver would be dead and the car destroyed. I am taking the car to a dealer tomorrow to have them inspect the LKAS. There were no warning lamps, message or any other alerts prior to the LKAS taking over the steering. Upon coming to a rest and recovering, I inspected the vehicle and found no damage save a deflating front tire and was able to drive the car back to Atlanta. I do not have Dashcam footage of the other occurrence of the LKAS malfunctioning but I did have a DashCam in the car and running when this latest incident occurred and if possible I will attach it to this complaint. Prior to submitting this complaint and contacting a dealership to have the car inspected I did put in my VIN and research if there had been any recalls on the LKAS system in my model year vehicle. The contact owns a 2016 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the driver's side rear taillight bulb had burned out. The contact replaced the bulb, but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the driver's side rear taillight failure was intermittent but was a persistent failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure and determined that there was water inside the taillight assembly which caused the bulb to short circuit. The mechanic informed the contact that the taillight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V259000 (Exterior Lighting, Interior Lighting); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

My vehicle has been going off on its own when it is off, the lights starts to flicker on the outside and on the dashboard, the seats malfunction on its own so does the steering wheel causing the steering wheel to move up and down adjusting on its own, the car alarm will go off all the time, and I hear a noise coming from under the hood. It’s so bad that I have to take out the battery and leave it cause this problem will continue until the battery is dead, sometimes it will cause all the lights to come on and stay on all night, mean while the vehicle is not even turned on when all this is happening, I search couple video and websites only to see other people having the same problem with this specific type of vehicle, this problem been consistent for months and it makes the car unable to drive.

There are two parts to this complaint. The issue regarding the transmission is potentially a safety issue and could result in an accident, while the peeling paint problem is already addressed in the Acura Service Bulletin 19-029 for VINs other than mine. Both are well documented problems that have been experienced by other 2016 Acura MDX owners. The transmission issue is an intermittent problem while accelerating and decelerating. There is a abrupt hesitation, or surging. While coating down a steep hil, the transmission will stay in gear at very high revs instead of shifting. These are an annoyance, but the acceleration problem could cause someone to hit the car from behind in heavy traffic situations. Some individuals note on the internet that their engines would accually stall when accelerating. I have brought my vehicle into the Acura Dealership on a number of occasions without the problem being resolved. The paint issue involves the white diamond pearl paint coming off the roof and is already addressed in Acura Service Bulleting 19-029. It is unthinkable that only some VINs are covered while others are not, if the same exact problem seems to exist on non-listed VINs. Honda Motor Company indicated that they would not add additional VINS unless directed to by NHTSA. Please have Honda extend the warranty on ALL 2016 Acura MDX models with the same problem.

I was involved in an accident 12/13, 2023. No airbags deployed, however, my seatbelt locked up. A new seatbelt was ordered through Acura soon thereafter 12/23. At the time this was ordered, I was told that there was no ETA as there is a national backorder. Fast forward to today, my car has been fully repaired and is still sitting in the local repair shop because there are still no seatbelts available. I have filed complaints with Acura corporate, and have a claim number that I would be more than happy to provide. Acura corporate has advised the repair shop that it will be at least six months to one year until a seatbelt is is available I also have documentation on the “ expedited order” that was placed for the seatbelt in 12/2023. The insurance company, USAA, is now looking at totaling my car simply because we cannot find a seatbelt. The local Acura dealers, and our car repair shop cannot believe that cannot seem to get a seatbelt for me, and it’s been four months. On my research online, it appears that Acura may be legally obligated to manufacture, and provide this part. I wanted to report this to the proper regulatory agency to ensure that this has been documented. The car is completely drivable, given the lack of safety restraint. I also am aware that I am not alone in this complaint, as many other MDX owners are experiencing the same I am not sure how to proceed from here and I’m hoping that you may be able to help Thank you so much for your time and consideration

The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds through a parking area, his foot slipped and the vehicle unintendedly accelerated, coming to a complete stop after crashing into an 8-inch barrier. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. A Police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that the driver's side seat belt needed to be replaced following the crash but informed the contact that Part Number: 04818-TZ5-A00ZC was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that parts were not yet available. A case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

We have taken our 2016 Acura MDX to our local dealer three times in the past to complain about noises (clicking and thumping) coming from the front end of the vehicle. Each time the vehicle was under warranty and the response we got from the dealer was "no problem found". Two weeks ago (02Sept2023) we took the Acura MDX to the same local dealer and are told both of the front control arms need to be replaced. Since we are no longer under warranty it would cost us $1559.78 to replace both. And we are also informed that control arms on this vehicle do wear out frequently and they keep a supply on hand to replace the for the many customers that have had the same problem. While we have not had a direct safety problem with this car yet, the car is relatively young and does not have high mileage or rough use. Based on the fact that this Acura dealer has experienced many problems with this vehicles control arms I would like to register the problem with NHTSA to investigate further.

The auto engine idle stop on my 2016 Acura MDX has left me in precarious situations at stop signs and/or traffic lights at least twice before the recall notification I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago. The engine turned off as designed but then would not turn back on like it should without a delay. The worst incident was when my teenage Daughters were in the car with me! After receiving the recall notice recently and taking the vehicle into the dealership within days of the notification, my “software update fix” by the dealership (Napleton Acura in West Palm Beach) completely disabled my auto engine idle stop! After calling the service rep I dealt with later that day and telling him about it, I was told the software update made the “turn-off” feature more specific and mine didn’t meet the parameters! My engine was at normal operating temperature, my air conditioner was NOT on and I stopped at at least 12 lights on the way home with no engine stop. That was a week ago and still no engine idle stop has taken place! I’m a pilot and don’t appreciate being talked down to by a supposed “racing champion” named Zeke that feels the need to advertise his prior win on his service uniform! Not only that, but now my safety related “object approaching” notification for front driving and “rear warning” for close objects during parking/reversing are now non-existent! I paid extra for these safety related options and I’m not happy that they’ve been disabled because of the “software update!” How do I become part of the class action lawsuit against Acura/Honda?

Forward Looking Camera failed at 62k miles, it won't communicate with the computer according to dealership diagnosis on 11-18-2022. Replacement cameras are on backorder, with no availability date. Vehicle is available for inspection. The issue directly affects Forward Collision, Lane Departure and Cruise Control. It no longer warns me if approaching something too quickly. It no longer tells me if I drift into another lane or corrects it. Cruise Control stopped working as well. Distracting lights and beeping when driving, says windshield needs to be cleaned on instrument cluster. Issue began in mid 2022. According to my research, failing cameras seem to be an issue. Replacement camera is approx $1500, plus the labor to install and align.

First on off glitching when ever accessory mode is used WHILE IN MOTION, FIRST BRAKELIGHT HAD WARNING THEN WARNING ABOUT TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST. WHEN I WENT IN REVERSE, THE WHOLE DASHBOARD INCLUDING THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WENT BLACK AND THE CAR FELT LIKE THE ENGINE STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES. I DON'T THINK THE ENGINE ACTUALLY STOPPED THOUGH BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR. INTERIOR LIGHT DO NOT DIM AFTER A FEW SECONDS. INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF REGARDLESS OF LOCKING VEHICLE. REAR SUSPENSION HAS A 0.55 CAMBER DIFFERENCE, VEHICLE HAS 26,765 MILES. I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT ON A BUSY STREET ON A VERY BRIGHT DAY AND DID NOT SEE THAT THE STOP LIGHT I WAS APPROACHING HAD TURNED RED. WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS RED, I BRAKED RAPIDLY OF COURSE BUT STILL GOING AT A PRETTY GOOD SPEED I HIT THE STOPPED CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE COLLISION WAS BETWEEN DRIVERS SIDE OF MY MDX AND RIGHT REAR OF A MEDIUM-SIZED WHITE JEEP. MY 17 YR OLD SON WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND HIS AIR BAG DEPLOYED, HOWEVER MY DRIVER BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH SEAT BELTS LOCKED UP. THE IMPACT WAS VERY STRONG ON DRIVER SIDE GIVEN THAT IS WHERE WE HIT. FORTUNATELY, MY SEAT BELT KEPT ME FROM HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. MY ONLY INJURIES ARE NECK ACHE, HEAD ACHE, SEAT BELT BRUISES, AND RINGING EARS. MY CONCERN IS FOR FUTURE USE OF MY CAR. IF THE DRIVER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY GIVEN THIS HARD OF A HIT, I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WILL DEPLOY IN ANY COLLISION. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH ACURA REQUESTING THEM TO INSPECT THE AIRBAG AND BLACK BOX TO DETERMINE WHY IT DID NOT DEPLOY AND THEY SAID THAT AIRBAGS ARE DESIGNED TO ONLY DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED AND IN THIS CASE THE CARS COMPUTER DETERMINED IT WAS NOT NEEDED HENCE THERE IS NO REASON TO INSPECT IT FURTHER. I BELIEVE THAT IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE IMPACT WAS LESS THEN THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE ALSO DEPLOYED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER ALSO SUPPOSEDLY REQUESTED ACURA TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND THEY ALSO DID NOT GET ANY FAVORABLE ACTION FROM ACURA. HONDA/ACURA OF AMERICA RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS TWICE AND SIMPLY SAID THERE IS NO SUPPORTING INFORMATION INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG OR CARS COMPUTER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THEY ALSO DID NOT ASK ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ACCIDENT IN WHICH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION COULD BE PROVIDED. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR ON THE CAR IS OVER $12K.

ALSO WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SALESMAN MADE A BIG DEAL ABOUT THE REARVIEW MIRRORS AUTOMATICALLY AIMING DOWN AS THE CAR IS PUT IN REVERSE. THIS SAFETY FEATURE ALLOWS THE DRIVER TO SEE WHAT IS ON THE GROUND NEAR THE REAR TIRES WHEN BACKING UP.AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR THE REARVIEW MIRRORS NO LONGER AIMED DOWN. THE DEALER NOW SAYS THAT IS VEHICLE NEVER DID THIS AND I HAVE ASKED ABOUT IT AT 3 DIFFERENT SERVICE APPOINTMENTS. ALSO ABOUT THE SPARE TIRE WEAR , THE DEALER SAID "DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT", AFTER I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. WHILE IN MOTION, FIRST BRAKELIGHT HAD WARNING THEN WARNING ABOUT TRAILER STABILITY ASSIST. WHEN I WENT IN REVERSE, THE WHOLE DASHBOARD INCLUDING THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WENT BLACK AND THE CAR FELT LIKE THE ENGINE STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES. IN THE MORNING WHEN I START THE CAR THE CAR JUST LAGS THE POWER UNTIL I PRESS HARD ON THE GAS PEDAL. WE TOOK THIS ON A ROAD TRIP TO CALIFORNIA FROM UTAH AND AT TIMES I FEEL LIKE I DON'T HAVE AMPLE POWER TO PASS OTHER DRIVERS AND IT TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO THINK BEFORE IT DOES ANYTHING. PLEASE SEE THE HISTORICAL DATA WHICH GIVES A COMPLETE AUDIT OF THE ISSUES I HAVE HAD. 9/22/18 11 DAYS- VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND DROPPED FOR SERVICE, PUNCH LIST OF ISSUES SINCE PURCHASE THAT NEEDED ADDRESSED. ALIGNMENT REPORT IS SIGNED OFF ON 9/24/18, BATTERY CHECK 10/1/18, SERVICE WAS STARTED ON 9/29/18, CAR SAT FOR A WEEK WITH NO SERVICE ATTEMPT MADE. OIL STAINS ON ROOF LINER WERE LEFT THERE AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT CLEAN THEM OFF (LATER PROVEN TO BE MECHANICS GREASE BY MERRILLVILLE) AND SPIDER WAS MY PROBLEM NOT THERES PER 'ROB' IN SERVICE. ISSUES THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR. ALL OF THE BELOW SERVICE WAS COMLETED IN 5 MILES ACCORDING TO ODOMETER READINGS. ON 10/12/18 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ACURA OF MERRILLVILLE PER 'ANTHONY' FROM ACURA CLIENT CARE TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I DROVE IT WITH THE TECH AND THE TECH WAS ABLE TO VALIDATE A LOT OF THE ISSUES RIGHT AWAY. IT WAS RETURNED TO ME ON 11/2/18 22 DAYS ON 11/24/18 I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ACURA OF MERRILLVILLE DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE RETURNING, ALSO ADDRESSED A COUPLE OF ISSUES. CAR RETURNED ON 11/28/18 4 DAYS VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHEN SHIFTING TO ACCELERATE, OFTEN HAVE TO DOWNSHIFT USING PADDLE SHIFTERS TO MAKE POWER OR CAR ACTS LIKE ITS GOING TO STALL. BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION UNILATERALLY, HIT THE BRAKES HEAVY WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND THE BACK WILL BEGIN TO COME AROUND AS THOUGH ONE OF THEM DOES NOT GRAB. ENGINE LOSES POWER WHEN IN TRAFFIC IT STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH IF NEEDING POWER TO ACCELERATE ONTO A EXPRESSWAY FROM AN ENTRANCE RAMP, OR ANYWHERE THAT REQUIRES POWER TO MOVE THE CAR.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE WITH ACURA AND NO PERMANENT REMEDY WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD RECUR IN 10 TO 10,000 MILES. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DAVID MCDAVID ACURA OF AUSTIN (13553 RESEARCH BLVD, AUSTIN, TX 78750). THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT SHE FELT UNSAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WANTED TO TRADE IT IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. ACURA HAS REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY AT 11,000 MILES AND DID NOT ADMIT FAULT AND SAY THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HERE'S MORE ON MY EXPERIENCE..IN MY 1 YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: 2016 ACURA MDX 13,000 MILES , PURCHASE NEW FROM SIERRA ACURA , ALHAMBRA, CA I AM WRITING TO REQUEST BUY BACK OF MY VEHICLE THIS CAR IS A LEMON. SINCE TAKING OWNERSHIP A YEAR AGO, MY 2016 MDX PURCHASED NEW HAS EXPERIENCED NOTHING BUT ONE PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. ACURA REPLACED TRANSMISSION A MONTH AGO BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IS IT ENGINEERED AND DESIGNED TO PERFORM IN A NOT SAFE MANNER ? MANY TIMES I EXPERIENCE SHIFTING AND ACCELERATING HESITATION AND JERKY/JOLTING. MY FAMILY AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING AND RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE. SEVERAL TIMES GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED AND VEHICLE LAGGED AT 20 MPH FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING. A FEW OF THE LATEST NEW AND ONGOING PROBLEMS ARE BELOW. DRIVER DOOR NOW APPEARS OFF SET AND AT DIFFERENT ANGLE PROTRUDING OUT NOW. APPEARS THAT THE DOOR IS NOT CLOSING PROPERLY AND THEREFORE NOT SEALED AT CLOSING. FURTHERMORE EVERY SINGLE WINDOW HAS EXPERIENCED FAULTY MECHANISMS WITH MOTORS, ACTUATORS, AND SEALS. WHEN CLOSING THE DOORS IT FEELS LIKE THE WINDOWS ARE LOOSE. THERE ARE ALSO SQUEAKS AND RATTLES EMINATING THROUGHOUT THE CABIN AREA. I SECURED AND COLLECTED ALL LOOSE ITEMS AND THE SOUND IS STILL THERE. AT ENGINE START UP EACH TIME, THERE IS A HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ENGINE STARTS (PERHAPS SOMETHING ELSE FAULTY?) I HAVE VIDEO / SOUND DOCUMENTATION OF THIS WITH 2 SEPERATE RECORDING DATES . WITH REGARD TO THE NAVIGATION, MULTIMEDIA UNIT, IT HAS BEEN LAGGING, SLOW (ER) TO FUNCTION, AND SEVERE DELAY IN BACKUP CAMERA ACTUATING, AND AUDIO FUNCTIONS DELAY IN RESPONSE SOMETIMES.

AT 1300 MILES. VEHICLE EXHIBITED A CONDITION WHERE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED, TRIGGERING ALERTS FOR EVERY SYSTEM. EMISSIONS, STABILITY, EVERY SAFETY FUNCTION, BRAKES, STEERING. VEHICLE WENT INTO SOME KIND OF FAILSAFE MODE WHERE THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT WELL AT ALL, AND THE CAR WAS BARELY DRIVABLE. VEHICLE DID THIS TWICE OVER A WEEKEND. TOOK IT TO ACURA, AND AFTER AN ANALYSIS THEY BLAMED "BAD GAS." THIS IS AN EXCUSE AS THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 1300 MILES ON IT AND HAD ONLY HAD 2 FILL UPS, AND BOTH WERE WITH TOP TIER PREMIUM GASOLINE. IN ADDITION, I DO NOT BELIEVE SOME "BAD" GAS SHOULD CAUSE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO GO COMPLETELY HAYWIRE SHUTTING EVERY SYSTEM OFF. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR FLAW IF SO. HOWEVER, AS I DON'T BELIEVE THE ANALYSIS THAT IT WAS "BAD GAS", I THINK ACURA HANDLED THE SITUATION WRONG AND IS SIMPLY USING AN EXCUSE RATHER THEN DETERMINING WHY SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL CONDITION CAUSED THIS MASSIVE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE.

IT HAS 40K BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY PER PAPERWORK AND DEALER PLUS PURCHASED EXTENDED 100,000 8-YEAR WARRANTY FOR ANY DEFECTS, ETC. AGAIN BUMPER TO BUMPER. WITHIN ONE WEEK ON 3/25/2016 WITHIN ONLY 190 MILES ON THE ODOMETER ON THIS BRAND NEW $60K VEHICLE GLASS WINDSHIELD DEFECT WAS NOTICED WITH CRACKING DESPITE NOT SEEING OR HEARING ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. IT WAS DRIVEN ON CALIFORNIA FREEWAY HOME FROM ANAHEIM TO NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY (120 MILES.) UPON NOTICING THE DEFECT THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT THEY SAID ANYTHING CAN HIT THE GLASS AND SAID WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. (CONTACTED ELI SALES MANAGER AND PAUL SWIM GENERAL MANAGER OF WEIR CANYON HONDA ACURA) THEN PERFORMED A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND NOTICED MANY OTHER ACURA OWNERS HAVE GLASS BREAKAGE AND CRACKING ISSUES AND THERE ARE BLOGS AND ENTRIES FROM ACURA OWNERS ON THE INTERNET'S GOOGLE SEARCH OF ACURA GLASS CRACKING BREAKAGE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON TREND. SO I PROCEEDED TO CONTACT DEALER AGAIN TO DISCUSS IT SOME MORE WITH THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED TO THEM THIS IS BRAND NEW VEHICLE PURCHASED WITH NEW AUTO WARRANTY PLUS ADDITIONAL $3000 EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM YOUR DEALERSHIP SO WHY ARE YOU NOT PERFORMING CUSTOMER CARE AND CARE ABOUT DEFECT IN YOUR VEHICLE'S SAFETY COMPONENT (WINDSHIELD) BUT THEY HUNG UP THE PHONE OR USED PROFANITY WHEN CALLED BACK. PAUL SWIM GENERAL MANAGER EVEN COMMENTED THAT EVEN ONE OF HIS OWN LOANER DEALERSHIP VEHICLES HAS A CRACK BREAK ON THE WINDSHIELD GLASS DESPITE BEING NEW. OPENED CASE WITH ACURA HEADQUARTERS IN TORRANCE CA ON 3/29/16 CASE# 4559849 BUT TALKING TO THEIR MANAGER (JUAN) AND DISTRICT MANAGER THEY REFUSED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE AND IGNORED COMPLAINT AS WELL. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS BASICALLY WEAK FRAGILE AND UNABLE TO PROVIDE REASONABLE SAFETY.

WHILE TRAVELING ON CITY AND HIGHWAY ROADWAYS, THE VEHICLE WANTS TO DRASTICALLY VEER TO THE LEFT ON SECTIONS OF ROADS SLOPED TO THE LEFT. YOU NEED TO CONSTANTLY APPLY PRESSURE TO THE WHEEL TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM VEERING TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE IS ALIGNED CORRECTLY FOR ROADS SLOPED TO THE RIGHT. WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM 3 TIMES WITH NO FIX, OTHER MDX'S DRIVEN AS LOANERS ACTED THE SAME. THE DEALER STATED ON THIRD REPAIR SUMMARY THAT ROAD TESTED VEHICLE AND STATED VEHICLE TRACKING AND STEERING NORMALLY COMPARED TO OTHER MDX'S. THE VEHICLE IS STILL VEERING TO THE LEFT AS BEFORE. DRIVING LONG DISTANCES IS NOT ENJOYABLE WITH THE CONSTANT STEERING COMPENSATION REQUIRED.

VERY SIMILAR TO NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10762375. AFTER 3-4 DAYS OF DRIVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH TRANSMISSION SYSTEM U0401, VSA PROBLEM, HILL START ASSIST PROBLEM ETC ETC ETC. THE SUV WOULD NOT SPEED ABOVE 35-40 MILES AND SHAKE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED CRACKED SPARK PLUG, IGNITION COIL - CAUSE - POSSIBLE MOISTURE IN SPARK PLUG. THEY WERE NICE ENOUGH TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND CURRENTLY WAITING FOR IT TO BE REPLACED.

FORWARD/FRONT COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM DIDN'T ENGAGE ENOUGH TO REDUCE OR AVOID IMPACT OF THE COLLISION. MY VEHICLE TOOK A RIGHT TURN AT ABOUT 20-25 MPH AND TRAVELLED LESS THAN 2-2.5 CAR LENGTH BEFORE GETTING ONTO THE CURB AND HITTING AN IRON PILLAR ABOUT 2 FEET HIGH ON SIDE WALK. IT WAS A SIDE FRONTAL COLLISION AND THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL DIRECTLY HIT THE IRON PILLAR. THE VEHICLE SPEED WASN'T REDUCED TO MITIGATE IMPACT/DAMAGE FROM THE COLLISION AND VEHICLE TOOK FULL IMPACT OF THE COLLISION. THE FORWARD/FRONT COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM MUST BE EVALUATED TO ASSESS SUITABILITY TO AVOID COLLISION WITH OBJECTS OF LOW HEIGHT.

THE ACURA LANE KEEP ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS) MIS-READS SOME INTERSECTIONS AND JERKS THE WHEEL TOWARD A SIDE STREET ONLY TO QUICKLY TRY TO COMPENSATE BY JERKING BACK. THERE IS ONE INTERSECTION IN PARTICULAR THAT THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY. THE DEAL SAYS THE SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SOFTWARE "DEFECT". IT IS QUITE STARTING THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENS AND AT SPEED IT REPRESENTS AN UNSAFE CONDITION. ANOTHER CASE OF A SAFETY SYSTEM CREATING AN UNSAFE CONDITION.

WHILE DRIVING, THE MDX SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL AND CANNOT BE SHIFTED OUT OF NEUTRAL. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY MULTIPLE TIMES. THE INFORMATION DISPLAY SHOWS FIRST EMISSIONS PROBLEM, THEN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. ACURA HAS A TSB OUT FOR THIS B15-034, BUT WON'T APPLY IT UNTIL THE PROBLEM APPEARS. HAVING YOUR VEHICLE SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL IN A HIGH SPEED ENVIRONMENT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. TSB B15-034 NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE THEIR MDX SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEY BECOME IMMOBILIZED AND PEOPLE ARE KILLED AS A RESULT....UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF
