My 2017 Acura MDX has an engine failure due to connecting rod bearing seizure in the 3.5L V6 engine. Recall 23V-751 covered model year 2016-2020 Acura MDX vehicles and mine is a 2017. But, my VIN is not in Honda's recall range. The ODI had apparently received 414 reports of connecting rod bearing failures in the 3.5L V6 engine that are outside of 23V-751. There is now an ODI Resume with number PE25008. See the two linked PDF documents below. [XXX] [XXX] The Acura dealer said that this is definitely the same problem they have seen on vehicles under the recall range. In their computer system where it says "Cause" they wrote "Cylinder 6 spun causing the knocking noise. excessive material in oil pan. if under the rod recall, it would need a long block." I have a screenshot of this if you would like it. My service representative at the dealership texted me the following "The engineer from Acura was here today and our District Manager - the engineer said they will not be expanding the recall on the Acura side. Just thought I'd let you know." I have this text message if you would like a screenshot of it. So, it sounds like Acura will not voluntarily expand the recall. This is going to cost me about $12K to fix. Is the NHTSA ODI investigation still ongoing? When will I know if the VIN range will be expanded as I would like to get reimbursed by Acura for these repairs. Engine seized due to failure of the connecting rod bearing. Same issue that is occurring in the recall but our VIN does not fall into the vin codes. Engine needed a complete rebuild. During engine failure, I was in the middle of truck and vehicle would not move even in neutral.

I was driving my vehicle on the highway at 65 MPH when the engine light came on and began blinking- no other issues. I tried to pass a vehicle, and my vehicle would not accelerate, I was less than a mile from work. I called the dealership the same day and was able to take it in. When I called, I explained everything the dealership told me I could either tow it or try to drive it in. I went out to the car later and moved it from one parking lot to another and had no issues and no lights came on alerting something was wrong. Later in the day as I was driving 65 mph again on interstate, just as I was slowing down to get off all of the lights for everything came on and the engine was making a terrible knocking sound. I slowly pulled over and put my hazards on while driving 15/20 mph. I was near the dealership and was able to coast into the repair shop. Was informed the engine needed to be replaced due to a misfire on cylinder 2 and rod knock- most likely rod bearings and crank shaft issue with broken rod. We have an extended warranty so for a used engine found at a salvage yard won't cost much out of pocket with a similar amount of miles. Used engine will have 12K mile warranty/12months. The dealership has the engine- that info can be given upon request.

My 2017 Acura MDX with only 87,000 miles has suffered catastrophic engine failure. The vehicle has been properly maintained and all repairs recommended by the dealership where the performed since it was purchased new. While the dealership has confirmed the engine failure cause is exactly what is feared by the Recall Report 23V-751, Honda has refused to acknowledge their responsibility since my VIN does not fall within their "identified" inventory. The engine is currently at the dealership and will be maintained as evidence for the "to-be-filed" lawsuit that will be required to recover the repair costs. The engine seized while driving and had to maneuver the vehicle to a safe location. Had I been travelling on the highway at the time. the outcome would have been disastrous. The problem is described in detail in Recall Report 23V-251. There were no warning lights or issues other than a clunking sound the night before. I was driving to the dealership at the time the engine failure occurred.

The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the transmission system error message displayed. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road and turned off, and attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to respond. A local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall and suggested that the failure be reported to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 92,000.

I recently took my vehicle in for service due to a noise coming from the oil pan area. Upon further inspection from my mechanic is appears that my vehicle had metal shavings in the oil pan and seems to be related to the connecting rod bearing issue that a recall was issued for. Unfortunately my vehicle was not part of the recall for this issue and perhaps should be included in potential expanded recall. I was told by my mechanic that I would need to either buy a used motor or new motor however my concern with a used motor is that I could potentially have the same issue again and be dealing with engine failure.

While travelling at highway speeds, I removed my foot from the accelerator to adjust speed for a lane change. When changing lanes and acceleration was then needed, there was no response from the engine for ~5 seconds. I depressed the accelerator several times with no response, which nearly caused an accident during the lane change. The engine did not stall. Eventually, the engine responded to the accelerator input. This has occurred multiple times under similar circumstances.

On [XXX], while driving from Orlando, FL to Atlanta, GA, I experienced one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I was traveling on the freeway at approximately 80 MPH, in lane 3 or 4, when my vehicle suddenly began to hesitate and lose power without any warning. In that moment, fear and panic took over. Cars were flying past me, and I could feel my truck rapidly decelerating. I immediately turned on my hazard lights and began honking to alert other drivers, praying they would give me space to move over. Thankfully, I was able to carefully navigate across lanes and reach the far-left shoulder. Once I got into the acceleration/deceleration lane, the vehicle suddenly lurched forward and began accelerating again—completely on its own. I knew I couldn't risk staying on the road, so I exited at the next ramp and pulled into a gas station, still shaken. After refueling, I attempted to restart the truck, but it would no longer shift into Drive or Neutral. The truck was stuck in Park and completely inoperable. A roadside mechanic responded to my call for help and made several attempts to restore mobility, but nothing worked. I spent the evening stranded and alone, unsure of what to do next. The following day, [XXX], I had the vehicle towed to Honda South near Atlanta, GA. After inspection, I was informed that the issue was a complete transmission failure. In addition to needing a new transmission, the vehicle also required replacement of critical sub-assembly components, including the transmission control module (TCM). This situation was not just a mechanical failure—it was a serious safety event that put my life and the lives of others at risk. I’m still shaken by what happened and deeply concerned about how such a failure could occur so suddenly and without warning. We purchased vehicle in Sept 2020. The vehicle has always had a rough jerk or rough shift when initially moving at stop lights or any stop and as vehicle is accelerated and to shifting to next gear. It is not a smooth transmission shift from initial start to first few gears. Just seems that at any time transmission may fail and vehicles behind may run into it.

The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated that the dealer recommended that the timing belt be replaced. After the timing belt was replaced, there was a ticking sound coming from the vehicle while being started. The sound occurred while driving at various speeds or while the vehicle was idling. The check engine warning light was illuminated while driving approximately 60 MPH. The contact pulled over, turned off, and restarted the vehicle, and the warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who diagnosed that the short block, bearings, and the oil pan needed to be replaced. The dealer recommended that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact learned of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the connecting rod bearing, resulting in damages to the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that three years prior the vehicle was diagnosed with connecting road bearing failure. The vehicle was under warranty and the engine was replaced. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 35 MPH, the check engine warning light was displayed, and the vehicle was driving rough and failed to properly accelerate. The vehicle was slowly driven to the nearby local dealer who examined the engine and discovered metal shavings inside the oil pan. The contact was informed that the engine rod bearings had failed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 111,000.

The errors occur intermittently during my work commute. When I contacted customer service, I was told by Case Manager (Andrew) on [XXX] @ [XXX] pm that nothing could be done unless I brought the vehicle in while the warning lights were actively on. This is unrealistic and dismissive. It is not always possible or safe to divert immediately to a dealership and I do not believe that Acura expects its customers to drive around hoping a warning light stays on long enough to be seen by a technician. I understand that modern vehicles like the MDX store fault codes even after warning lights disappear. That Is the purpose of diagnostic equipment. Denying a warranty repair based on whether a technician witnessed an error live undermines the value of the extended warranty i paid for raises serious concerns about safety and accountability. I plan to visit DCH Montclair and attempt to schedule an appointment in advance. I expect a full diagnostic scan to be performed, with no fee applied unless the issue is clearly outside of warranty. I am requesting the following: A complete diagnostic of stored fault codes, regardless of whether the dashboard errors are active at the time of service. Full written documentation of the findings and action taken A clear explanation of any charges and why they would apply under my extended warranty. Air Conditioning system in 2017 Acura MDX is releasing chemical fumes when Air Conditioning is turned on. This problem was reported to authorized Acura Service Center (Chapman Acura in Tucson, Arizona) during vehicle warranty period. This problem has been reported to this Acura Service Center more than 5 times but the Acura Service Center is not fixing the problem. Release of chemical fumes from Air Conditioning system is causing respiratory problems and is a passenger safety issue. Chapman Acura has charged consumer several times for the same problem but has not fixed the issue.

Paint peeling on roof , there is an existing issue regarding mdx pearl white paint peeling but only covered 2014 to 2016. My 2017 pearl white mdx also has the same issue, and a lot more people complaining as well online. I contacted acura and they said that my vin number is not part of the issue . Which is BS. My car has only 31,000 miles eventhough its almost 7 yrs old , it is well kept , garaged suv .

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for engine service, the mechanic discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy with the vehicle. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 135,316, however, the independent mechanic discovered that the actual mileage was 289,471.

Dashboard lights are flickering and the headlights are intermittently turning on when the engine is off. This is a commonly reported failure and defect in the the Keyless Access Control Unit with Honda Ridgeline, Odyssey, and Pilot and Acura MDX and RDX models with keyless start. However, Honda would not recall the defect.

At different times, either with my wife or I driving the vehicle, we will receive error messages on the dash indicating that various systems are inoperative. These involve the lane keeping assist system and the braking system. I also believe that the cruise control does not function when these messages appear.

I was driving on the interstate yesterday ([XXX]) and the transmission suddenly downshifted gears and also went to neutral. I managed to pull to the shoulder, but the sudden loss of power could easily have been life threatening at a more crowded time of day or in poor weather. The car was towed to McDaniel Acura in Columbia, SC (I was out of town) and problem confirmed. I also called my regular mechanic (a Honda specialist) and he said this was a known problem and referenced Acura service bulletin [XXX] which says to reload new software. Codes were: Transmission code P0716 Parking Brake System U0401-68 Parking brake warning light on Blind spot warning light on Why hasn't there been a recall on this??? It's a known problem and I could easily have been killed and hurt others. If not a recall, at least at least do something to alert owners so they can get it fixed proactively if they want, as opposed to breaking down on the side of an interstate for hours. Ive brought my MDX to the dealership service department 6 times for this issue, my car has been with the service department this last time since Nov 28th consecutively. In September I brought it in because my car would shift to park when the auto start/stop engaged, I would have to hit the brakes, shift back in to drive before I could take off. I was told there were 2 recalls that we remedied at that time. I brought my car back in a couple weeks later because the issue was persisting, I also started to get transmission and blind spot monitoring system alerts in those 2 weeks. I was told by the service department that the recall update wasn't "completed" when I brought it the previous time. The shift to park still was not fixed. At the 3rd time to the service department they replaced my starter. After this was done the issues with the car got worse, the car would give me transmission alerts, emission system alerts, power brake, blind spot, etc. & the "D" for drive on the dash would blink. Park would also blink. On the 4th trip they replaced my shifter assembly. After this the issues with the car further worsened and I would get all of the previously mentioned alerts, then my car would shift to neutral and another alert would pop up saying "pull over and park when safe to do so". Thankfully I was never on the interstate when this happened. I have to coast until I can pull off the road. After turning the car off then back on I was still not able to shift in to gear. I had the car towed to Acura, this (5th trip) time they replaced my transmission computer module. The car did the same thing the day after I picked it up. I had it towed back to them again, this latest trip they replaced my powertrain computer module, it did not fix the issue. My MDX has been at the dealership since Nov 28th because they do not know what to attempt to fix next. Im not being given any recourse. There are class-action lawsuits regarding this issue on the internet, so it is not unique to me

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ACURA MDX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHN EAGLE ACURA (16015 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77094) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE IGNITION COIL CIRCUIT CABLE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.

AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE FROM ACURA IN MARCH 2020 WITH APPROXIMATELY 49,500 MILES AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS SLIPPING AROUND 20 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. MY FIANCEE DROVE IT AS WELL AND FELT IT SLIPPING IN A CITY STOP AND GO UNDER THE SAME SPEED. WE CALLED ACURA TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SLIPPING AS WELL AS THE BATTERY MALFUNCTIONING. THEY TOLD US TO BRING IT IN AND WE DID. THE BATTERY END UP BEING DEAD A FEW WEEKS AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS CHANGED. WE THEN WERE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS A TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE AND THAT THIS MAYBE CAUSES THE PROBLEM. WE NOTICED WITH THE VEHICLE RECORDS THE FLUID WAS CHANGED AT 42,376 MILES PRIOR. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ENDED UP BEING CHANGED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WOULD NEED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE A LOT FOR THE SLIPPING TO GO AWAY. THOUSANDS OF MILES LATER THE VEHICLE IS STILL SLIPPING WITH 53,000 MILES. WE FEEL ACURA KNOWS THE IS AN ISSUE BUT DOESN'T WANT TO FIX IT. WE NEED HELP. I'M NOT THE ONLY WON HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE WHEN IT INVOLVES SLIPPING. I HAVE A FEW DOCUMENTS SUPPORTING MY CASE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THE CURRENT ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 ACURA MDX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH ON A BUSY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE, BLIND SPOT, AND "STOP DRIVING" MESSAGES AND INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MAPLETON PALM BEACH ACURA (6870 OKEECHOBEE BLVD, WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33411), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,649.

SERVICE BRAKES

I was stopped, my vehicle brake stopped working after being stopped on a road at a traffic light behind a semi truck. My vehicle crawled slowly forward, it would not stop (like the car wash pace). My brake would not work, I tried putting car in park to stop it moving. It proceeded to ram into the semi in front of me and keep trying to go forward until the light turned green and the semi drove away at that point I was able to drive my car and pull off the road and my brake began to work when I pulled off. It completely stopped working when I was on a busy road and caused the accident. It could have been much worse if I was not stopped already.

The vehicle put emission system and electronic parking brake warning lights on panel, allowed vehicle to be placed in drive "D", then suddenly switched to a flashing "P," stalled in parking lot, and would not allow the vehicle to be changed to any other gear.

WE WERE TRAVELING ON A THREE-LANE ROAD (CENTER TURN LANE) IN OUR 2017 ACURA MDX GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND FOLLOWING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US AT THE NORMAL 4-CAR LENGTH DISTANCE. THE CAR IN FRONT OF US SIGNALED FOR A RIGHT TURN OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND BEGAN TO SLOW. I APPLIED OUR BRAKES TO SLOW AS WELL. WE WERE STILL AT LEAST 3 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF US TURNED OFF THE MAIN ROAD. I MOVED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO ACCELERATE BACK TO THE NORMAL SPEED. THE COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATED, BRINGING OUR VEHICLE TO A SUDDEN STOP IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE THAT HAD MADE THE RIGHT TURN WAS COMPLETELY OFF THE MAIN ROAD WHEN OUR BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATED. WE WERE REAR-ENDED BY A JEEP WRANGLER TRAVELING AT OR NEAR THE SPEED LIMIT. OUR VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. I WANT TO NOTE THAT THIS WAS NOT A CASE OF US FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY OR APPROACHING TOO FAST! OUR MDX HAD 9,256 MILES ON IT, AND THERE HAD BEEN NO PRIOR PROBLEMS OR WARNINGS. WE HAD NO IDEA THAT THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM COULD ACTIVATE WITHOUT CAUSE AND BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP!

GOING ABOUT 20 MILES AN HOUR IN TRAFFIC A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 2 CAR LENGTHS STARTED TO TURN RIGHT INTO A GAS STATION LOT UNEXPECTEDLY. THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM DETECTED A POTENTIAL FOR COLLISION AND WARNED ME. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SLOWLY ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AS THE SITUATION WAS NOT CRITICAL. THE CRITICAL BRAKE INDICATOR DID NOT GO AWAY, AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY FELT AS THOUGH IT DEPRESSED THE BREAK FULLY AS IF A COLLISION WAS IMMINENT. THE DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS FOLLOWING VERY CLOSE AND COLLIDED WITH ME. THOUGH THE ACCIDENT WAS PROBABLY UNAVOIDABLE, I FEEL THE ACURA OVERESTIMATED THE URGENCY TO STOP GIVEN THE DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND THE SPEED AT WHICH WE WERE MOVING.

2017 Acura Mdx. Earlier this year I suspected something was wrong with the car so we took it to Acura in weir canyon to get it checked out. They figured it was the throttle body so they replaced it and then about 2 weeks later the engine had a catastrophic failure. I was driving the car coming out of the freeway and right before I turned right the engine made a huge noise. We tried asking Acura for goodwill assistance but they did not offer anything at all because I bought the car used. I always took the car for its maintenance while the time I've had it. Acura then quoted me for around an 8 thousand dollar repair and then took it to a mechanic and they said its better to get the whole engine replaced at that point and so I did. I've always had Honda cars my whole life and they have been nothing but good but this was something different. I saw that there was a lawsuit going on and a lot of people has had the same problem with there engine specifically the connecting rod bearing which is the problem my car had.

When I stopped in traffic, there are times the gear shifted from drive (D) to neutral (N) by itself. And sometimes the engine shuts off. This problem started last month until now. I brought the car to the dealership for diagnostic tests but according to them, they found no problem with my car. I saw in social media that lots of MDX owners experienced the same problem.

I was driving and all of the sudden I hear a pop and total engine failure. I was lucky to be traveling at 45 mph and could coast off the road safely. After the damage occurred the motor would not turn over again. I had it towed to Acura and they told me my motor was locked up and specifically that my camshaft bearing had failed. I asked about the recall and they said my vin was not selected for the damage therefore there was nothing they could do other than replace the motor at my expense. I have yet to repair this vehicle and it has been sitting untouched ever since it was towed back to my home.

Our engine started making a loud knocking noise that was clearly not good. We had a friend who is a mechanic come put it on the computer and he diagnosed that the rocker arm took out some valves or lifters. He looked up the car and found a recall for our make and model (2017 MDX with the 3.5L engine) that matches our exact issue. But the VIN does not appear in the search so our car is not covered by the recall despite it clearly being caused by the defect. I understand that there is an investigation into this that the NHTSA opened and Honda has been pushing for extensions. I was encouraged to add our car to this list to help you all see that the problem is much larger than originally thought. We are in a very tough spot and do not have the $5-10k to replace the engine. If the recall is not expanded soon, our only hope is that we get a goodwill repair. We have requested this, but are waiting to hear back from the dealer. Thank you for looking into this. I’m sure we are not the only people in a tough financial spot being affected by this. We appreciate your efforts to protect consumers!

On Friday May 5th, 2023 myson was driving our 2017 Acura MDX in heavy rush hour traffic on Interstate 355 near Homer Glen when suddenly and without warning the transmission failed and caused sudden deacceleration. He drove the car which was going 7 mph and engine revving and starting to clatter to get off the freeway. The check engine light came on. He called and informed me while on the exit ramp. I instructed him to pull into the Gas N Wash filling station at 15930 W 159th and shut the engine off, I left home immediately and upon arrival I looked under the hood for oil leakage or low level and belts broken. When I started the motor a knocking sound caused me to turn it off. This could have caused an accident due to heavy traffic at 70 MPH posted speed limit. The car has been towed to local mechanic shop for diagnosis. My online research indicates a Class Action Suit and countless complaints of similar unsafe operation and transmission failure. We purchased this Vehicle new in 2017 from Rizza Acura, Orland Park, IL and have had regular maintenance performed since purchase date.

There is an active recall on the brake calipers and fuel pump for Acura Mdx 2017, and Hondas. My Acura Mdx 2017 has the same issues with a code of p07e4, which is the brake calipers. When looking up the recall of my car, there is no recall on it when inserting the VIN. My car is an Acura Mdx 2017; I do not understand why it is not included in the recall when it should.

From a standstill, Car often does not accelerate right away when accelerator depressed (even floored). Often times there is a significant lag between depressing the accelerator and actual propulsion, as if fuel not being injected (then car peels out from sudden injection). Last year I did Internet research to find that my model year is part of a range of acuras that share this problem. Today I received a recall notification for this very problem on an app. When I entered my VIN on the NHTSA website it said my car VIN was not part of the recall, but it is the exact problem described in the recall and my car is part of the described range of models in the specified date range.

Fuel pump (High - pressure & low- pressure) failed which has caused significantly reduced acceleration and caused the engine to stall in mid operation of the vehicle. I (Driver) was the only person in the vehicle and there was no crash. I would say there is high risk of a crash and it is a serious safety hazard. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.This vehicle component was checked by an independent service center and got it repaired. Fuel pump & high pressure pump was ordered and replaced on the vehicle. I paid $1977.59 as the total cost for parts and labor plus tax.

The car several times now has stopped in traffic and died after the idle stop was initiated while stopped in traffic. It will not start up for at least 30 seconds to a minute. We were almost rear-ended because we were stuck in the middle of the road. I was told that Canada has issued a recall because of this issue

I was driving on the highway at normal highway speeds of 70MPH when the car lost the ability to accelerate, and I was forced to make an emergency stop on the side of the interstate. With the heavy traffic on the interstate, this scenario could have been catastrophic as there is currently construction and no place to pull over for emergencies. The vehicle was towed to Hubler Acura in Greenwood IN where they performed a diagnostic test and no known issues were found on their diagnostic computer. However, the issue is not happening on a computer at the dealer, the issue occurred on the interstate while traveling 70mph. I have read several message boards where the users have posted similar experiences about losing power when accelerating in their 2017 MDX. The dealerships seem to offer a transmission fluid change or a computer reset as a solution. I have previously had the same acceleration issue and had these two items already completed within the past 90 days and neither issue resolved the problem, which further led to the most recent interstate incident. From my online research, Honda is either unwilling or unable to diagnose this common transmission problem and they need to be held accountable for their inaction. This issue needs to be addressed before it creates a scenario with fatalities.

I BELIEVE THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION IN THE 2017 MDX PRESENTS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. ONE OF MY MAJOR CONCERNS IS THE SIGNIFICANT "LURCHING" I GET WHEN PARKING ON A SLOPE, SHIFTING TO "PARK" AND THEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. ON SNOW OR ICE, THE CAR COULD EASILY SLIDE SOME DISTANCE. I SIMILAR LURCHING ALSO FREQUENTLY OCCURS WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE WHEN ON A SLOPE AND THEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE. MY SECOND MAJOR CONCERN IS THAT WHEN I DOWNSHIFT ON A DOWN-SLOPE IN LIEU OF BRAKING, THE CAR ACTUALLY FIRST SPEEDS SIGNIFICANTLY UP AFTER DOWNSHIFTING AND DOES NOT SLOW DOWN AS IT SHOULD. I DO A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF DRIVING IN MOUNTAINS WHERE DOWN-SHIFTING IS SAFER THAN BRAKING AND THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. LASTLY, THE CAR HESITATES AT TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST TWICE AND AM TOLD THAT THESE ISSUES ARE JUST THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CAR.

NHTSA Recal #19V-256 So according to Acura, this vehicle had the tail lights replaced in 2019 but the tail lights broke again in 2023. How do we know if Acura just replaced with same OEM tail lights but didn't fix the problematic tail lights. These lights are not a simple bulb replacement, it is costly in $600/Ea range to replace whole assembly.

The rear tail lights stopped working completely due to manufacturing defect of rear tail lights causing electric short circuit by moisture . Defective tail lights Safety recall was performed in August 2021 by Dennisville Acura. The rear tail lights stopped working again due to same issue.Took to the dealer Davis Acura on 17 Feb 2022 to perform the safety recall again and dealer refused to perform the repair to fix the safety recall issue. I want to file a complaint against Honda of NA and Davis Acura of Langhorne for refusing to perform safety recall on a vehicle with safety recall issue.

The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. There was no warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnostic result was not provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened and immediately closed a case for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

on January 9, 2024 I was driving this car and was hit on the driver's side of my vehicle , other driver at fault. The driver's side door side curtain airbags appropriately deployed. The door itself was crushed, and I had to be cut out of the car. The malfunction was my seat, the driver's seat of the vehicle. It moved as far forward as possible and I was tightly wedged between the steering wheel and the seat. Even if my door had been possible to open, I would not have been able to escape. I was also not able to drive in that position, so the car remained in active traffic for some time. I believe this is a design/manufacturing defect with regard to that seat and potentially other seats in the vehicle. I write at this time, over a year later, with the concern that this design flaw may be present in other Acura / Honda vehicles. I wrote to Acura at the time but they did not seem very interested.

My 2017 Acura MDX died on me 3 times in the middle of the street last year 2024, July. All the warning lights got turned on the dashboard all 3 times. Car staled and could not turn it on right away. I managed to turn it on and after few seconds turned its self off. It felt like fuel injectors were not working properly or fuel pump. I tried few more other times and got turned on and drove it home. Next day all the warning light went away. Day after, i drove it to grocery store and on stop light same thing happened. I decided to take it to Acura dealership, on the way there all the warning lights turned off by it self. They could not find that anything is wrong with it.

DANGEROUS LOSS OF POWER WHILE ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY! THERE HAVE BEEN THREE SEPARATE INCIDENCES OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS. While driving suddenly all error warnings came up. It included Check Engine Light, Error messages included: Electronic Braking System error, Emission System error. The light indicative of parking P! kept blinking also the (P) came up on the dashboard. Interestingly after some time this all cleared on its own. Then came back again only this time it stayed on. I don't know if this has compromised the safety features of the vehicle including emergency braking (crash avoidance/vehicle proximity)

The sensor under the hood malfunctions causing the car alarm system to go off and battery to get drained. Multiple batteries were changed because initially the thinking was that the battery needed to be replaced. Car alarm would go off in the middle of the night (with a new battery) when parked in the garage. All the electrical systems and lights would start turning off and on as if the car is possessed. Manufacturer is aware of the problem. Many others are complaining on the internet. There are variety of hacks including rigging the sensor that are suggested. Dealer said the entire control unit had to be replaced for $1122. Repair was made. They said when they run out of parts (control unit) they also disconnect the sensor. So you have cars on the highways that are no longer appropriately indicating when the hood is down (shut correctly or whether it is a false alarm. I called the manufacturer they didn't take responsibility (Case 14470102) with Acura/Honda.

WHILE DRIVING, I RECEIVED THE MESSAGE "ADVANCED DRIVER SUPPORT SYSTEM: U3000-49". THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS ERROR HAS APPEARED ON THE CONSOLE. FIRST TIME THIS HAD OCCURRED WAS ON 9/28/18 AND AGAIN ON 8/13/19. THE DEALER SAYS I DONT DRIVE THE CAR ENOUGH AND IN TURN THE BATTERY FOR THE CAMERA DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT CHARGE. EVERY TIME I BRING THIS CAR IN FOR AN ISSUE THEY RESET THE ERROR MESSAGE AND INFORM ME TO LET THEM KNOW TO COME BACK IF THE ISSUE APPEARS. THIS HAPPENED WITH MY TRUNK AND MY JERKY TRANSMISSION. ON ANOTHER NOTE, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH A CHOPPY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR JERKS FROM 1ST TO 2ND EVERYTIME. THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSE TO FIX IT. THE 2019 MODELS DONT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AS I TEST DROVE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IT GIVES A JERK AND IN THE WINTER IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED IT CAN CATCH YOU OFF GUARD.

They will not provide a loaner. ________________________ My name is [XXX] and I purchased a new 2017 Acura MDX with AWD and the tech package from your dealership on 27 August 2016. In early April of 2022, the front passenger seat belt of my MDX stopped working. I was asked to come into your dealership to confirm that it was not working, and I did so on 12 April 2022. At that time a new seat belt was ordered, and I was told it would take about a month at most. For your reference, the part number, order reference number, and date of order are included below. · Part number: 04814-TZ5-A00ZA · Order reference number: U3990412 · Date ordered: 12 April 2022 It is now past the one-year anniversary of this safety warranty problem being brought to your dealership’s attention, and the theoretical delivery date keeps getting pushed out. Just today, I called the Parts Department and was told there is a new shipping date of 04 June 2023. Frankly, I don’t believe it and feel like I’m just being strung along. I ask you [XXX], what would you think if you were in my situation? This MDX is my only car, and I have had limited use of it to carry passengers for over a year due to the effective loss of the front passenger seat. Because this is a safety issue, my hands are further tied in that I cannot trade or sell my MDX. It is very strange that this seat belt stopped working, and I have to wonder if it was a design or manufacturing defect. Nevertheless, I have been the only one dealing with the consequences, and I have had to do so for over a year. I am unwilling to continue to do so, and now propose that Piazza Acura treat this like any other extended warranty repair situation and provide me with a comparable late-model MDX loaner free of charge until such time as Piazza Acura and the Honda Corporation can provide me with and install a new, manufacturer-supplied front passenger seat belt. On Tuesday, November 8, 2022 I had my 20 month year old grandson in a rear facing car seat and he wrapped the middle seat seat belt around is neck and was choking and coughing. I was on my way to pick up my other grandson at school about 4 miles from my home and when I arrived at the school I opened the back door on the driver side where he was sitting and to my surprise and fear he had the seatbelt wrapped around his neck. I tried to remove it seatbelt when he was in the carseat and it was too tight there was no give. I yelled for help and a lady in her car helped me. The only resolution was to cut the middle seat belt. He had to be taken to emergency because he had red marks around his neck.

This morning I read that you were investigating the automatic braking for certain Honda models. I have had this same thing happen with my 2017 Acura MDX several times over the past few years. I would be driving (not following another car), and my car would suddenly brake and flash "Brake" on the screen, without my doing anything. Both times, I attributed the issue to driving into a bright sun, but I am not sure. It did not cause an accident and it was not a big deal, but the last time (about 3 months ago) I remember braking and being nervous about someone else read ending me...when I tried to accelerate I was unable to do so.

2017 Acura MDX purchased May 2020. Incidences has happened 5 times. Twice this month in July 2021 the brakes engaged! Anxiety and fear of being hit by cars behind. 1st incident:location back road When the brakes engaged the vehicle in front had taken a right turn. The vehicle was cleared from mine so it came as a scare as it stopped in the middle of the road with others behind me honking….. The brakes released and i proceeded driving. 2nd:location back road Again In front a vehicle turned right and the brakes engaged. I hit the gas gently i dont know if that helped to disengage the brakes or not. 3rd: location highway Brakes engaged and immediately released. I was in passing lane and a truck in middle lane ….. this made no sense. 4th: location at intersection Truck turned left across and in front of me, brakes engaged and stopped my car, only to find out a low trailer was being towed. Again I used the gas hoping the brakes would disengage. I dont know if it helped or not. Now I ONLY use the cruise control on highways.

WE HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY ISSUES WITH OUR 2017 MDX SH-AWD. ON A COLD START WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR THERE IS A SUDDEN LURCH HARD SHIFT. ONCE WARM THIS IS STILL PRESENT BUT NOT AS PRONOUNCED. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO SLIP THROUGH GEARS AND HAVE SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTS THAT DECELERATE THE CAR OR THE VEHICLE WILL LURCH FORWARD WITHOUT HAVING YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS AS IT SHIFTS ITSELF INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR. WHEN TRYING TO 'PUNCH IT' AND ACCELERATE QUICKLY IT WILL OFTEN HESITATE TO GO INTO THE CORRECT GEAR THEN SUDDENLY REV HIGH AS IT SPEEDS UP. HUNTING UP AND DOWN THROUGH GEARS WHILE STAYING AT A CONSTANT SPEED. THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY SLOW TO COME UP AND RESPOND TO INPUTS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. ACURA HAS CLAIMED THIS IS DUE TO CELL PHONE BLUETOOTH INTERFERENCE. COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM HAS ENGAGED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME BY HUSBAND WAS IN A PARKINGLOT DRIVING THROUGH A ROW LOOKING FOR A SPOT TO PARK. THE CAR SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS WITH NO CARS IN HIS PATH AND NEARLY CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND HIM TO REAR END HIM. THE SECOND TIME I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT TO TURN RIGHT, THERE WAS A VEHICHLE IN FRONT OF ME BUT THE DISTANCE I WAS STOPING FROM THE REAR OF THAT VEHICHLE WAS NOT AN ABNORMAL OR ALARMING DISTANCE. THE BRAKES LOCKED UP WITH LIGHTS FLASHING ON THE DASH AND AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM BENEATH THE CAR. ON ONE OCCASION FROM A PARKED POSITION IT WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO ENGAGE IT IN DRIVE. IT FLASHED "SHIFT TO PARK" ON THE DASH. IT TOOK THREE ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO GO IN TO DRIVE. THE REAR HATCH HYDROLICS HAD TO BE REPLACED WITHIN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS AS THE POWER LIFTGATE STOPPED WORKING. ONE OF THE TWO KEY FOBS ALSO WENT OUT ON US IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS, REPLACING THE BATTERY DID NOTHING AND THE WHOLE FOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

ONE MONTH AGO WHILE TURNING LEFT INTO TRAFFIC AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, CAR BRAKES APPLIED AWAITING LEFT TURN AGAINST TRAFFIC. THE SEMI LOCKED THE BRAKES TO AVOID A SERIOUS REAR END COLLISION. AS I REACHED 50 MPH THE DASH RE LITE AND ALL INSTRUMENTATION APPEAR TO FUNCTION AND AS I PUSHED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE REGAINED SPEED. The front lane assist camera has failed internally and now the lane assist, forward collision and adaptive cruise control no longer work. This has been a known issue and has happened to other Acura MDXs. The warning lights are now coming on saying the vehicle had a brake system error. It also states that all systems related to this camera are inoperable.

Hi, I have a 2017 Acura MDX. My Transmission Shifts to Neutral Unexpectedly. It happens when I'm driving. Most of the time it shifts back to Drive. Therefore, it never bothered me, it happened since I bough the car. It didn't happen often so I didn't think anything of it. However, lately it started to happen more often. Now when it shifts to Neutral it doesn't want to shift back do Drive. My concern happened when I was on a highway driving in a middle lane. I had to pull over and when it shifts to Neutral. When it shifts to Neutral you can't add gas and the vehicle starts slowing down. I received warning on my dashboard ((P))! - Electric Parking Brake Problem and (transition picture)- Emission System Problem came on. I turned the car off and then on. After, I turned on and Press D or R the car doesn't want to go forward or reverse. I have to turn the car off for about 15 min and then when I turn the car on and press Drive it drives without a problem. Recently, it started to happen more often. I happened to me today. I was on 2 line road on a left lane. My car stated to slow down. I was lucky nobody was on right lane, so I was able to change lanes and then I had to pull over and turn the car off. I waited 5 min turned the car on and it drove. I'm scared that I might not be as lucky as I was and get in an accident when the transmission shifts to neutral. My VIN is not on recall but there is a recall on 2016-2020 Acura MDX with same problem. 16V640/KC2 recall. I already contacted my dealer with no luck. They told me to contact Acura. I made a case # [XXX] with Acura. I was told they can't do anything and the bounce the ball again this time to NHTSA. Here I'm looking for help. My dealer found a Par 573 Safety Recall Report on NHTSA site. I love the car. I was hoping you can help me with this problem or maybe you can tell me who can help me. My Vehicle intermittently fails to go into "Drive" when pressing the gear shift button. Additionally, various warning messages appear at random, including: Lane Keeping Assist Problem, & Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. I have brought my vehicle to DCH Montclair Acura#709, located at 100 Bloomfield Ave, Verona, NJ 07044, on January 10, 2025, February 18, 2025, and March 13, 2025. Despite these visits and an inspection conducted by my extended warranty provider, the problem continues. On [XXX], while my daughter was a passenger, the vehicle once again failed to shift into drive when pressing the "D" button. This incident, like others before it, occurred without warning and reinforces my growing concern about the safety and reliability of the vehicle. I am now afraid to drive the car, unsure when it might fail again. I respectfully request that Acura take immediate and decisive action to investigate and resolve this issue. If a reliable repair cannot be made, I would like to discuss alternative remedies such as vehicle replacement of buyback under applicable warranties and safety protections

Wipers do not dispense water(front or rear) and wipers to not reset to original position when in use. Took it to Acura dealership in 03/20/2024 for a 60,000 factory service and problems started afterwards. On 05/16/2024 I had another service at Fountain Acura dealership and problems persist.

I reported these issues to Acura corporate and to Jackson Acura, dealership I purchased the vehicle from in February 2024. Beginning in July 2024 the vehicle would stall, de-accelerate then the automatic brake would engage, and the vehicle would go into "N" mode, Neutral and lock up. I was able to press the gas pedal a few times, and the vehicle would come back online and drive. This issue happens about every 100 miles driven. On [XXX] the vehicle suddenly de-accelerated, went into auto brake mode and then shifted into neutral. On this date the vehicle locked up suddenly to an abrupt stop, we were almost impacted in the rear with two other vehicles having to take evasive action to avoid hitting us. My wife and I were lucky not to injured by the sudden brake, or transmission lock up. There were no other issues with the vehicle until this date, other than the stall issue. It seems the system had a sudden catastrophic failure. the car has been maintained with oil changes, new battery and transmission service. The car was shutdown then restarted. All the lights on the dash were on and the vehicle was unable to shift to any gear. The vehicle had to be towed to my home address. I was advised to have the vehicle towed to a dealer for diagnostics at my expense. It is currently at Nalley Acura, Marietta, Ga being diagnosed for the issues. The vehicle has 74,000 miles currently. It was purchased with 57,700 miles from Jacson Acura as a certified Acura used vehicle. The Acura dealer and Acura corporate both stated my VIN # was not included in the recalls. It should be included in the recalls as it has the same issues as other Acura models. I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE CAR FROM THE ROADWAY BUT THE GEAR SHIFT CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK IN ANY GEAR. TRANSMISSION WARNING LAMP CAME ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO MY HOME ADDRESS. THIS CAR WAS ACURA CERTIED USED. IT HAS BEEN MAINTAIND BY A HONDA SERVICE CENTER. On highway and switching lanes. All of a sudden ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE AND ALL DRIVER ASSIST LIGHTS CAME ON. Pull over light came on as well. HIT ON LEFT REAR SYMBOL CAME ON. Was never hit just a close car on driver left rear side when switching lanes. Made it home and vehicle wouldn’t switch back into drive mode. Acura didn’t do its due process and assumed a new transmission was needed. Replaced and a month later ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE sign starts flashing again. Now dealership is saying I need a new catalytic converter. Refused as I believe Acura has been incorrect about the diagnostic. They also stated my vehicle was in a collision and it wasn’t. They refused to check electrical issues and update software as these things are not in my control. It is my belief the car had a faulty collision warning which is causing other issues as well as Acura refusing to probably assist and diagnose without me continuing to be falsely diagnosed

I have a 2017 Acura MDX that had around 98k while I was driving down the highway at 65 mph all lights came on the dash and lost acceleration would not go over 45 MPH on a very busy highway. Had to have the vehicle towed per dealership- towed to Jay Wolfe Acura, Overland Park, KS. They said engine needed to be replaced due to the miss fire of rod knocking. There was no other option for replacing the rods had to replace the engine. In addition they replaced with an used engine that is a 2016 not even the same year. Dealer made us aware of the recall for this issue but advised us the Vin# is not under the recall so we had to pay out of pocket. I have tried to work with Honda and the dealership for reimbursement since there have been numerous vehicles with this exact issue but the Vin#'s not under the recall but with no help at all. I have provided documentation and explained the issues and the repairs. I have documentation but was not able to add it to the document listing below

While driving the car started to loose momentum and began stuttering until finally stopping abruptly and applying the electronic braking system. All warning alarms were illuminated on the dash. I was not even able to pull over completely off the road either putting me and my family in danger from not being off the road. Acura dealership service center informed me it was a bad high pressure fuel pump located on the engine block itself. There are recalls for this exact part neginnibg from 2018 on the acura MDX model. My model is a 2017 making me wonder if the recall should include earlier year models of acura mdx.

i bought new car in 2017 November and around over 2500k miles I heard engine chirping sound and if you're surrounded by wall you can hear it louder. took it to dealership several time but they said it's normal and show me another car to prove to me. Which it did had same sound. Then yrs go by I hear loud clunking sound underneath the car every time I reversed and when switching gear to reverse. also about 1-2 yr owning it I heard clunking sound on steering wheel so when mechanic looked at dealership they said it could have been air bag wires so they secured it and shouldn't have any more problem. on 3rd yr I went back to dealership because I know something is wrong with steering wheel clunking sound when turning low speed to right and felt much tighter to turn. they said one of suspension is problem so they replaced but 2wks later happen again. I was in rush for them to resolve before my 4yr warranty ends but they keep playing around saying initially by experience mechanic when we did test drive he heard the sound and thinks it's steering rack or pinion. so I was relived after yr of back n forth they figured out and tells me to wait for next step. but after 1hr waiting at lobby they told me after lifting car up can't manipulate the sound again so can't fix. I wanted to speak to that mechanic again and the way he looked at me and said sorry I don't know what's wrong with it seem like his been told by higher up to lie bc that day they had corporate person visit and that person refused my claim. I asked to fix steering rack or both and they said we can't bc its costing them money and what if that's not the case. I took it to local mechanic and whenever my vehicle is lifted its hard to find the sound but when on ground you can hear. Then recently I brought up that clunk sound to different mechanic during oil change they found out that my body frame was loose so he tighten the bolts. He said it's rare to have frame loose. after that no more clunking when reversing.

The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX equipped with Les Schwab Tires, Tire Line: Back Country Touring, Tire Size: 245/50/R20, DOT Number: UP76 DRW. The contact stated that while making a left turn, the front passenger’s side tire rolled over a plastic lane divider. The contact then heard air being released from the tire and immediately pulled over into a parking lot. The contact discovered side wall separation on the front passenger’s side tire and pulled into gas station to replace the tire with the spare. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 21T002000 (Tires) which the contact linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the tire size was not included in the recall. The tire was not replaced. The vehicle and tire failure mileages were not provided.

at highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly shifts to neutral with no warning. The only indication is unexpected decrease in speed and accompanying engine rev. My typical driver response is to take foot off accelerator, then put back on again. Engine overrevs then shifts in to gear. I'd estimate it's out of gear for ~ 5 seconds, but hard to say in the heat of the driving moment. This happens 1-2X most highway trips, but not occur at lower speeds (it does not shift very smoothly in lower gears at times, but it's not currently a safety issue). I've taken it to my local dealer (Hendrick Acura, Durham, NC) and contacted Acura Customer Care, and am trying to get a diagnostic scheduled (it's been a process). The behavior started to worsen over the past several months (e.g. the slip to neutral has lengthened in time) but shorter slips have been occurring for a longer time period.

I was on the feeder road of a major freeway in Houston Texas at a stop the brake fully applied. The auto engine idle stop was enabled. When I removed my foot from the brake the engine did not restart. The lights, radio remained on but I was unable to drive my car or change the gear shift. Being on a freeway feeder was a dangerous place to be stalled and had to wait in major traffic for a tow truck to come as the vehicle could not be started or turned off. Completely inoperable. The check engine light was on and oil light. I was towed to a nearby maintenance shop where a p2638 code was listed. After the car was towed the car would restart. Prior to the incident there have been other occasions where the vehicle struggles to restart the engine from the auto idle. However there were no warning lights. Additionally I scheduled service with the dealership the next day and they show an auto idle recall as an item for repair. There is no recall listed on Nhtsa. Additionally I see a class action lawsuit was filed earlier this week for a potential ongoing, long term issue related to this product.

My 2017 Acura MDX has many issues with both the transmission and electrical. It has an issue shifting between gears, makes a loud sound like metal on wash board, then loses power for 3-5 seconds. I went to put the car in drive and it would not go in drive recently. I've now had to replace the transmission at 79,006 miles. The electrical system lights up when driving telling me my electronic parking brake has been engaged and also that there is emission system issues. My daughter was terrified and crying since i had a loss of power at the same time my dash lit up and I had to get across 5 lanes of traffic to the shoulder of road. The towing company had to remove battery cable to get my electric parking break to release. This is a dangerous and scary automobile

Driving down the freeway cruising around 70 miles per hour when the multiple sensors tripped and car started to slow down to 50 mph. Took the exit and when I came to a stop the car was moving very slow. Had to go over an overpass and it barely made it over. Close to home so drove the car slowly. The car at times would stop moving and took a little time for it to pick up and started moving slowly again. The sensors that showed were the electric parking brake problem, emissions system problem, transmission system problem, blind spot info system problem. Had I not been close to home or no exit near, my car would have kept slowing down on the freeway. Family car and I also had my kids with me.

My car routinely sends a warning alert that there is an approaching object. It happens more frequently, when the temperature is hot, and it happens mostly when I am stopped at a traffic light. Occasionally, the alerts continue as I'm moving, which is really distracting, but even sitting at a traffic light is distracting and creating a safety issue. I listed yesterday's date, but this happens nearly every day that I drive this vehicle.

On multiple occasions (6 times within a week) the powertrain loses power. While traveling 60 mph in 4 lane Interstate traffic engine loses all power and accelerator ceases to respond. Passengers were at risk due to no power. Acura Dealer has not been able reproduce. Some dealers have affirmed that they've had customers with the issue but can't reproduce. The issue seems to occur more frequently after cruise control has been dis-engaged. I have spoken with another a 2018 Acura owner directly and they have experienced the same issue. It does seem the engine/powertrain resolves when the transmission is switched from "Normal" to "Sport" mode. The amount of time with loss of power seems to span about 5-10 seconds.

Driving East on Interstate 20/59 10 miles East of Meridian, MS November 17, 2021 around 2:00 PM. A lot of trucks on the road. Had speed control set at 69 MPH. Came up behind a semi doing about 65, pulled over to the left lane to go around him. When I got about half way all of a sudden all hell breaks loose. Vehicle goes in into emergency stop with lights flashing all over the dash. Vehicle brakes to around 30 MPH within a couple of hundred feet with semi's and cars beside and behind me. Finally got the vehicle over to the side of the rode without and accident. (A miracle inself). Code DTC P0716. After about an hour of shutdown, started engine and all messages were gone. Took it to the Acura dealer and they, evidently, updated the TCM software. I had not been notified that it needed and update which is negligence on Acura. This incidence could have been a catastrophe with possible deaths. Now my wife is really afraid to drive this vehicle.

I OWN A 2017 ACURA MDX. THE VIN IS [XXX]. ON SUNDAY JANUARY 13, 2019 MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO OUR DRIVE WAY WHEN SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. SHE GOT OUR KIDS OUT OF THE CAR JUST BEFORE THE CAR BURST INTO FLAMES. IT?S AMAZING NO ONE WAS HURT. THE CAR, HOWEVER, IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FIRE DESTROYED OUR OTHER CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE GARAGE DOOR, THE GUTTERS, WINDOWS, THE FRONT DOOR AND A LARGE PART OF THE ROOF. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING FOR TWO YEARS THAT MY CAR INTERMITTENTLY HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT HAD HAPPENED IN 4 OCCASIONS AND I HAD ATRIBUTED THE INCIDENT TO LACK OF EXPERIENCE IN DRIVING A NEW CAR. BECAUSE IT HAPPENED IN FRONT OF MY DAUGHTERS SCHOOL ' AND IN THEORY I COULD HAVE ACTUALLY KILLED A CHILD ' I PROMPTLY DELIVER IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. DURING THE TEST DRIVE WITH THE TECHNICIAN, THE CAR CHANGED GEARS FROM THE COMFORT MODE TO SPORT MODE ON ITS OWN. BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT AN ENGINEER FROM ACURA WOULD COME AND INSPECT THE UNIT. AFTER A WEEK WITH MY CAR, THEY JUST DID AN UPDATE INTO THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE - AND INFORMED ME THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE. THIRTY THREE DAYS LATER' WHILE DROPPING MY DAD AT HIS DIALYSIS ' AT A TURN - THE CAR WENT FORM 3 MILES TO 25 MILES, AND IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT IT WAS 5:45 IN THE MORNING ' SINCE I COULD CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE CAUSE AN ACCIDENT CONSIDERING I ALMOST RAN A LIGHT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ON FEBRUARY 1, DROPPED AGAIN THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP. 11 DAYS LATER I CALLED BACK TO FOLLOW UP AND WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT ACURA SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED ME ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9 TO LET ME KNOW THAT THEY WOULD BE SENDING AN ENGINEER TO CHECK THE VEHICLE AGAIN. OUR CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DOCUMENTED ON TWO PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS IN THIS FORUM, THAT CONSTITUTE A SERIOUS RISK FOR MY FAMILY AND COMMUNITY. THE BREAK IN THE SUNROOF WAS IN AN UPWARD FASHION, AS IF IT BROKE FROM THE INSIDE OUT (AS IF RELATED TO INCREASED PRESSURE). THE PIECE OF GLASS THAT WAS BROKEN WAS A LARGE SHEET, STILL INTACT. IT SEEMS IF AN OUTSIDE OBSTACLE (SUCH AS A ROCK OR DEBRIS) WOULD'VE CAUSED THE SUNROOF TO SHATTER, THE GLASS WOULD'VE BEEN IN MANY MORE PIECES/SHARDS. I WENT AHEAD AND PARKED AGAIN PUT IT IN PARK (IT WORKED THIS TIME, BUT THE P WAS FLASHING) AND THEN TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND INSTEAD IT JUST BEEPED WHEN I PRESSED THE IGNITION BUTTON. AFTER WHAT FELT LIKE FOREVER I DECIDED TO PRESS AND HOLD THE IGNITION BUTTON. IT FINALLY TURNED OFF. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO MOVE THE CAR, AGAIN ALL THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON BUT THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT LET ME PUT IT IN REVERSE. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I PUT IT IN PARK AND AGAIN TRIED TO PUT IT IN REVERSE. NOTHING HAPPENED AGAIN. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED, SO I TRIED TO RELEASE THE BRAKE AND TRIED TO REVERSE AGAIN. NOTHING HAPPENED! I EVEN PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THINKING IT WAS MAYBE IN BETWEEN GEARS, NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED PUTTING IT IN PARK AND THEN REVERSE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE CAR FINALLY REVERSED. I'VE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE 1.5 WEEKS I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW WITH 26 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ALSO, I NOTICED BOTH OF THE DISPLAY SCREENS DO NOT TURN ON IMMEDIATELY LIKE THEY USED TO. WHEN I TURNED ON THE CAR IT WAS A FULL MINUTE BEFORE THEY TURNED ON AND THE AC TURNED ON.
