The contact owns a 2005 Buick LaCrosse. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V355000 (Electrical System) and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power and the contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the road. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle seemed to return to normal functionality; however, the failure had since become a regular failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the mileage control circuit had malfunctioned. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under an unknown recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR EVERYTHING WAS PERFECTLY WORKING.I PARKED FOR THE NIGHT BEHIND MY HOUSE NO PROBLEMS. I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING AND ALL OF THE DASH GAUGES AS WELL AS THE REVERSE LIGHTS WERE OUT. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP WITH NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE CLUSTER PANEL WAS REPLACED WITH NO LUCK OF THE PROBLEM BEING RESOLVED. FUSES WERE REPLACED ALSO. THIS IS NOT ONLY UPSETTING BUT IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS. I CAN NOT AND DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE OR HOW FAST I AM TRAVELING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS COME UP BEFORE WITH NO SOLUTION. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

I HAD MINE REPLACED WHEN THE CAR HAD 5000 MILES ON IT. GM WILL NOT NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS ON THIS ITEM. "TAKATA RECALL" WE BOUGHT A USED 2005 BUICK LACROSSE FOR OUR SON IN APRIL 2016; AT FIRST IT RAN PERFECT AND THEN WE NOTICED A THUMP WHEN CHANGING GEARS (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). TWO WEEKS AGO MY SON WAS GOING TO THE STORE AND "DRIVE" STOPPED WORKING. NOW IT IS SITTING IN THE YARD AND WILL ONLY GO INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND REVERSE. IT WILL NOT GO INTO DRIVE.

WHILE SITTING AT RED LIGHT WOULD NOT MOVE ON GREEN, HAD CHECKED COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. THEN DURING MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY LOST ALL POWER, ALMOST GOT HIT. THEN STARTING SURGING. TO DEALER AGAIN, COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. KEPT ACTING UP, IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN. THIS IS THE 2ND REBUILD ON THIS VERY MUCH USED TRANSMISSION MODEL IN GM VEHICLES.

AFTER A WHILE, THE ENGINE WILL REV AND FINALLY SHIFT INTO THE PROPER GEAR. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 15 MPH, IT FEELS AS IF THE GEARS ARE CHANGING AND THE CLUNKING NOISE IS HEARD AGAIN. FOR MONTHS PRIOR AT NIGHT MY LOW BEAMS WOULD DIM AND GET BRIGHTER PERIODICALLY. THEN AS I WAS DRIVING ONE MORNING I BEGAN TO SMELL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. LUCKILY I WAS ON MY WAY HOME WHICH WAS LESS THAN A HALF MILE AWAY. WHEN I GOT HOME I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE FUSE BOX. I IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND PROCEEDED TO INVESTIGATE WHAT HAPPENED. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THE HDM MODULE HAD FAILED AND WAS MELTED RIGHT INTO THE FUSE BLOCK. IF I HAD DRIVEN ANY LONGER THAN I DID I FEEL LIKE MY CAR WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY CAUGHT FIRE. LUCKILY I GOT HOME SAFE AND PREVENTED ANY FURTHER DAMAGE FROM MY CAR.

THERE ARE OTHER TIMES THAT DURING THE DAY, THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY, RADIO AND HVAC DISPLAYS WILL GO EXTREMELY DIM. IS THIS A FAULT WITH THE DAYLIGHT SENSOR? MY DAUGHTER HAS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS OFF DIFFERENT ITEMS THAT CAN BE DANGEROUS AT NIGHT. THE HEADLIGHTS (DIMS) WILL SHUT OFF, THE RADIO WILL TURN OFF OR THE LIGHTS FOR IT WILL DIM OR SHUT OFF, THE DASH LIGHTS DIM OR TURN OFF COMPLETELY, THEN TAKE QUITE A WHILE TO COME BACK ON. SOMETIMES IT AFFECTS ONLY DIFFERENT PARTS OF THOSE LISTED ABOVE. THE ISSUE IS WE HAVE HAD IT INTO A REPAIR SHOP AT LEAST TWICE FOR IT AND THEY HAVE REPLACE SOME PARTS THEY THOUGHT COULD CAUSE IT, BUT IT HASN'T STOPPED IT FROM HAPPENING. IT IS ONLY NOTICEABLE IN THE EVENINGS WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE NEEDED BUT IT HAPPENS AT ANY TIME BUT WHEN YOU WANT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT NIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LEAVE THE ROAD AS HE WAS GOING THRU A TURN AT THE TIME. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE CAR ONLY SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE. IT HAD TO BE PULLED OUT OF THE DITCH. AFTER THE CAR WAS DRIVEN HOME LESS THAN A MILE AWAY, I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW THAT THE FUSE BOX HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE AND A PORTION MELTED. THIS ALSO DAMAGED THE WIRING CONNECTED TO THE FUSE BOX. I AM NOT SURE WHAT OTHER COMPONENTS HAVE FAILED AS A RESULT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN OPERABLE SINCE. I AM CURRENTLY TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND HAVE SPENT $300 AND COUNTLESS HOURS ON LABOR SO FAR. THIS SAME PROBLEM IS CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED ON 2006 AND UP BUICK LACROSSE'S. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE COIL AND SPARK PLUGS. AFTER THE CONTACT DROVE HOME WITH THE VEHICLE, IT DID NOT START AGAIN AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,159.

A CREAKING SOUND WAS NOTICED USUALLY WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL OR IN A CONSTANT STATE TURN MOSTLY AT SPEEDS BELOW 40 MPH. CAR WAS TAKEN TO A GM (BUICK ) DEALER GARAGE AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE RACK AND PINION. DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE RACK AND PINION, TIE RODS, POWER STEERING PUMP AND HOSE AND ALSO RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE STRUTS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A GARAGE THAT DOES MD STATE INSPECTIONS TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED AND THEY QUICKLY FOUND THE ISSUE....THE FRONT STABILIZER BAR WAS FATIGUE CRACKED COMPLETELY THROUGH AT THE ATTACH POINT ON ONE END AND ONLY THE BOLT WAS HOLDING IT TOGETHER. THE STABILIZER BAR WAS REPLACED AND THE NOISE WENT AWAY. IF I HAD TAKEN THE GM DEALER'S ADVICE I WOULD HAVE SPENT AT LEAST $1,850 AND STILL HAD THE PROBLEM. THE MECH. THERE IS A BULLETIN ON THE GOODYEAR TIRES, WHICH MAY BE OUT OF ROUND OR HAD A BAD BATCH OF RUBBER ADDED TO THE TIRES CAUSING OUT ROUNDNESS OR VIBRATION PROBLEMS. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED MOVING WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS STILL WORKING. THE SPLINES IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE ARM WERE STRIPPED. I TRIED TO FIND A REPLACEMENT ARM, BUT GM HAS DISCONTINUED THE PART & NO AFTERMARKET SUPPLIERS HAVE ONE AVAIALBLE. SEEMS WRONG TO HAVE A 12 YEAR OLD CAR THAT CAN NOT BE DRIVEN IN THE RAIN OR SNOW. GM NEEDS TO KEEP MAKING PARTS OR RELEASE THE PATENT & LET OTHER COMPANIES MAKE THEM.

FROM APPROX. 60,000 MILES DRIVERS DOOR WOULD STICK IN THE LOCKED POSITION REGARDLESS OF LOCK SOLENOID ACTUATION. CYCLING DOOR LOCK SOLENOID SEVERAL TO "MANY" TIMES USUALLY LOOSENED IT UP, HOWEVER, AT 80,000 MILES IT STUCK FOR 3 DAYS. DEALER THAT REPLACED THE MECHANISM ADVISED THAT WHEN THE DOOR UNLOCKS, THERE IS A METAL GEAR IN THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM THAT ENGAGES A PLASTIC GEAR THAT MOVES TO ENGAGE THE DOOR HANDLES (IN & OUT) SO WHEN YOU PULL ON EITHER HANDLE THE DOOR OPENS. SO, WHEN THE PLASTIC GEAR WEARS OUT, YOUR DONE. DEALER HAD TO BREAK INTO THE CAR BECAUSE THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WITH THIS MALFUNCTION. DRIVERS DOOR, PASSENGER DOOR AND NOW, LAST WEEK AT 180,000 MILES THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAVE ALL MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. APPROX. $250 - $300 EACH TIME DEPENDING ON NEED TO BREAK IN. I WAS MERGING ONTO THE NJ TPK AT 14A HEADING WEST, ON THE ROAD FOR LESS THAN A MINUTE, ABOUT 4 FEET BEFORE MERGE, HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE AND MY FRONT PASSENGER TIRE FELT FLAT. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED FOR HELP. THE SUNOCO DOT CAME AND SAID TIRE WAS GOOD, BUT RIM BLEW OUT. WHEN CHANGING ORIGINAL TIRE TO THE DONUT, MY ORIGINAL BUICK RIM, FACTORY EQUIPPED, CAME OFF IN TWO PIECES. I HAVE GONE TO DEALERSHIP DIFEO IN JERSEY CITY, NJ , AND WAS TOLD NOT A GENERAL MOTOR DEFECT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. UNION PONTIAC DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE SAME. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS DIRECTLY, AND WAS TOLD THE RIM IS NOT A DEFECT OF THEIRS. DID NOT KNOW THE MANUFACTURER OR PART NUMBER. ON OCTOBER 9, 2007 CONTACTED UNION PONTIAC PARTS DEPT. ON A COLD MORNING IN FEBRUARY, OUTSIDE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF DURING NORMAL OPENING FUNCTION. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT TURNS OUT THAT THE ENTIRE HANDLE IS MERELY CHROME-PLATED PLASTIC, WITH PEM NUTS INSERTED INTO THE REAR SIDE OF THE HANDLE. THE ENTIRE TENSILE LOAD OF THE HANDLE IS CARRIED ON THESE TWO POINTS, AND THIS IS WHERE THE PLASTIC FRACTURED. HAVING NO LUCK FINDING REPLACEMENT PARTS, AND NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT PUTTING A SIMILARLY-DESIGNED HANDLE WOULD PREVENT THE PROBLEM FROM RECURRING, I REPAIRED THE HANDLE BY DRILLING THROUGH THE HANDLE AND PUTTING 2 BOLTS AND 2 NUTS THROUGH THE BODY OF THE HANDLE TO SECURE IT TO THE DOOR. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. IT WAS MADE KNOWN TO THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO CHILD LOCKS ON THE DOORS IN HIS VEHICLE. THROUGH RESEARCH, HE DISCOVERED THAT THE 2004, 2006, AND 2007 LACROSSE MODELS WERE EQUIPPED WITH CHILD RESTRAINT LOCKS. HE FELT THAT IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT HIS YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE MANUFACTURER TO REACH A RESOLUTION. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH SOMEONE FROM THE SAFETY DIVISION OF THE MANUFACTURER, WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH HIM. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, A LOW POWER RESPONSE OCCURRED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES WERE NOT PERFORMING PROPERLY AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING OUR NEW (TO US) 2005 BUICK LACROSSE WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ON IN SANFORD, NC. IT WAS ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES. THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED INTO THE VEHICLE WHILE WE WERE DRIVING WITH WHAT APPEARED TO BE AN 8 INCH HOLE IN THE MIDDLE. WE BOUGHT THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO USED WITH A 30 DAY WARRANTY FROM STEVE JONES HONDA IN ABERDEEN NC. WE HAVEN'T EVEN MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT AND WE STILL HAVE A TEMPORARY TAG ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ASSIST IN ANY WAY WITH THE VEHICLE REPAIR AND NOW WE HAVE SPENT OVER $300 ON A NEW REAR WINDOW FOR OUR NEW CAR. THE WIRES IN THE DEFROSTER WERE OBSERVED TO BE A DIFFERENT COLOR IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDOW - DARK ORANGE / RED. THIS INCIDENT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING AND APPEARED TO SIMPLY BE A RESULT OF A MALFUNCTIONING REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. WE HAD THE SHOP NOT HOOK UP THE DEFROSTER TO THE NEW WINDOW TO AVOID ANOTHER OF THESE INCIDENTS. WE COULD FIND NO RECALL INFORMATION FOR THIS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 57 DURING DAYTIME HOURS. WHILE CRUISING AT 73 MILES PER HOUR IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE, THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND LOST ALL POWER. I COASTED TO A STOP OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING SEEMED OK, SO I CONTINUED ON. A LITTLE LATER IT SPUTTERED AGAIN AND STARTED LOSING POWER. THE POWER CAME BACK BEFORE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I CALLED ON STAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD A FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM AND THAT IF THE CAR WOULD RUN TO CONTINUE THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS WHEN I GOT HOME. I TOOK THE CAR WORDEN-MARTEN SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIRS ON MARCH 23RD. TO REPAIR THE CAR THEY: 1.REPLACED CAT CONVERTER AND OXYGEN SENSOR 125CGMPP- $750.47 A SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 57 DURING DAYTIME HOURS. I WAS PASSING A SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER WITH THREE CARS FOLLOWING ME WHILE CRUISING AT 73 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND LOST ALL POWER PUTTING ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE VEHICLE COASTED DOWN TO ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR BEFORE IT KICKED BACK IN. I IN THE MEAN TIME HAD DROPPED BACK BEHIND THE SEMI WITH THE THREE CARS BEHIND ME AND WHEN I COULD I PULLED BACK INTO THE RIGHT HAND LANE. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME AND MY WIFE. I CALLED ON STAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND THEY TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING WAS OK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE WHICH WAS PURCHASED ON 10-14-2006. THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER MADE NECESSARY REPAIRS TO THE HEADLIGHTS BY ADDING AN UNKNOWN SENSOR, HOWEVER A SHORT OCCURRED AND THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE FAILED COMPLETELY. THE HORN WAS ALSO INOPERABLE. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. ALL OF THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER HER EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN. TO DATE, NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE HEADLIGHTS TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 78,000.

I OWN A 2005 BUICK CXL WITH ABOUT 38200 MILES. STARTING BACK IN FEBRUARY OR MARCH 2007, THE MESSAGE FROM THE DASH INDICATED THAT MY OIL LEVER WAS LOW. I ADDED 1 QUARTS OF OIL AND THOUGHT THAT MY LAST OIL CHANGE WASN?T COMPLETE. AFTER DRIVING MANY MORE MILES, THE OIL INDICATOR CAME ON AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS ON APRIL 4, 2007 WITH 19,488. OIL DYE WAS ADDED TO TRACE A POSSIBLE LEAK. NO LEAK WAS VISIBLE WHEN I RETURNED AGAIN ON JUNE 13TH (21,126 MILES) WHEN THE OIL INDICATOR WENT ON AGAIN. THE DEALER FOUND MINOR SEEPAGE DUE TO THE LEFT REAR OF THE OIL PAN. THE BOLTS WERE TIGHTENED, CHANGED THE OIL AND THEY SENT ME ON MY WAY. ON JULY 23RD (23,102 MILES) THE OIL LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THE DEALER SUGGESTED A CONSUMPTION TEST AND THAT I SHOULDN?T ADD ANY OIL. ON AUGUST 29TH (24,275 MILES) OIL WAS DOWN AGAIN. THEY ADDED 1 QUART OF OIL AND TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK AGAIN FOR A VALVE DETERMINATION. ON SEPTEMBER 4TH (24,637 MILES), THE DEALER NOTATED THAT THERE WAS OIL LOST AND FOUND BULLETIN FOR VALVE STEM SEALS. THEY WERE REPLACED. FINALLY, ON JANUARY 11, 2008 AND STILL LOOSING OIL, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT A BULLETIN SAYS THAT IT IS COMMON TO LOOSE 1 QUART OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I TOLD THEM THAT ANSWER WASN'T ACCEPTABLE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-30 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE SPEED WOULD INCREASE AFTER DRIVING 3-4 MILES. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AFTER BEING PARKED FOR HOURS, IT IDLED ROUGHLY AND THE "TRACTION CONTROL" AND "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE PCM, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 BUICK LACROSSE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER ARE DIFFICULT TO READ DURING THE DAY OR EARLY MORNINGS BECAUSE THE SENSORS ARE DIM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LIGHT CLUSTER SWITCHES AND STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND INFORMATION CENTER WERE DESIGNED WITH DIM LIGHTING; THEREFORE, REPLACEMENTS WOULD NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR EST 2 YRS, I NOTICED THE INFO CNTR BEGAN TO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE ILLUMINATION IN THE INFO CNTR & RADIO AREA WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT LIGHT UP. THERE ARE OCCASIONS WHERE THIS W/B LIT & THEN GO OUT AS I DRIVE, OR VICE VERSA. W/ THE CAR BEING UNDER WARRANTY, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST SUMMER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROB. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM (CASE #71-567506079) ON 10/23/07. THEY INDICATED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY POTENTIAL PROBS WITH THE INFO CNTR. 7/07, I BEGAN KEEPING TRACK WHEN THE PROB OCCURRED. W/ MY WARRANTY ABT TO EXPIRE, I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 1/4/08, ALONG WITH DOCUMENTATION OF WHEN THE PROB OCCURRED. AGAIN, THEY COULD NOT RECREATE PROB & GAVE ME A STATEMENT FROM GM THAT PROVIDED A POSSIBLE DIAGNOSIS. "CONDITION" CUSTOMER COMMENT OF I/P DIFFICULT TO SEE AT DUSK OR DAWN. RECOMMENDATION: CAUSE: "THE AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR MAY SENSE THAT IT IS SUFFICIENTLY DARK UNDER THESE CONDITIONS THAT THE BCM WILL ACTIVATE THE AUTOMATIC HEADLAMPS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, NORMAL I/P DIMMING OCCURS, CAUSING THE CUSTOMER CONCERN." CORRECTION: "THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO CORRECTION FOR THIS CONCERN. SHE WAS TOLD TWO WEEKS BEFORE REPAIRS COULD BE MADE. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE LIGHTS ON THE DRIVER'S INFORMATION CENTER WERE DIM MOST OF THE TIME AND SOMETIMES DISAPPEARED ALTOGETHER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER IT WAS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE FOR INTERIOR ILLUMINATION TO DIM/BRIGHTEN DUE TO VOLTAGE DEMAND AND/OR AMBIENT LIGHT CONDITIONS. THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHTS COME ON DURING WET WEATHER AND OR TURNING. THE ANTI-LOCKS BRAKES FAIL TO WORK UNLESS PRESSED COMPLETELY DOWN. NO ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURED AT THIS TIME, BUT A FEW CLOSE CALLS. THE CAR IS BEING RETURNED TO A GM DEALER TO INSPECT AND REPORT THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS HAD A SPONGY FEELING SINCE DATE OF PURCHASE AND SINCE THE BRAKE RECALL WAS ADJUSTED. I WOULD HOPE THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE THERE IS A FATAL INCIDENT SINCE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES BECOME VERY NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM FAILS.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH TOWARD AN INTERSECTION ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. NO WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE ROTORS MUST BE MACHINED. AFTER A VISUAL INSPECTION THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE OF A DIFFERENT BRAND; THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THERE WAS NO CONCERN ABOUT THE DIFFERENT TIRE BRANDS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAD AN OIL LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE LEAK WAS FROM THE OIL FILTER AND CORRECTED IT. AFTER A FEW MILES DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE PRESENTED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE IT. ALSO, AN EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM WAS NOTICED WHICH WAS DETECTED DUE TO WIRING CORROSION LOCATED IN THE TRUNK. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED; THE DEALERSHIP CORRECTED THE DEFECT BUT AFTER FEW MILES, THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO PROVIDED THE NHTSA PHONE NUMBER WHEN ASKED FOR A RESOLUTION.
