RED AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. MANY OWNERS OF THESE CARS HAVE COMPLAINED. IT IS A POOR DESIGN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, THERE IS NO AIR BAGS THAT WORK. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE WIRING AND IN THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM WHICH COSTS NEARLY 1K FOR A NEW SEAT BLADDER WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. MANY OWNERS OF THESE MODELS ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEMS IN THESE VEHICLES. WHY HASN'T GM BEEN ORDERED TO REPAIR ALL OF THESE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE SYSTEMS? NEVER HAD AN AIR BAG PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE. LIGHT IS ON STEADY NOW AND ALL AIR BAGS ARE DISABLED DUE TO THIS ONE PROBLEM. NOT A GREAT DESIGN AND AS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT SHOULD BE A MANDATORY REPAIR BY GM. NONE OF MY OTHER BRANDS-FORD, NISSAN, OR HONDAS HAVE EVER HAD AN AIR BAG PROBLEM. THIS IS ANOTHER IGNITION KEY DESIGN TYPE LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN ORDERED? OVER 70 COMPLAINTS RIGHT HERE FOR SAME ISSUES. I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD TOGGLE BETWEEN ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE BUICK DEALER DIAGNOSTIC AND SCAN TEST REVEALED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE PRESSURE SENSOR FAILED. COST OF REPAIR IS $2,000.00 WITH NO SAFETY WARRANTY OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO OFFSET THE COST. NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE TO PRESSURE SENSOR OR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT CUSHION CONTAINING THE BLADDER AND PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE YEARS OF OWNING THIS CAR TO WARRANT FAILURE OF PRESSURE SENSOR. DUE TO ABSENCE OF REASON FOR THE FAILURE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE PRESSURE SENSOR, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT POTENTIAL FAULTY SAFETY SYSTEMS ON MY VEHICLE. A FAILURE PRESSURE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SIDE COULD MEAN THAT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THE AIRBAG DOES NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY EVEN WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER SITTING THERE. THEREFORE, IT IS A SAFETY RISK AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN DAMAGED DURING OWNERSHIP I AM LED TO SUSPECT THAT IT IS A FAULTY PRESSURE SENSOR.

On three occasions, when driving at night, both headlights suddenly went out. The next day the headlights were working normally. The dealer's service department could not find anything wrong. Later, we found out there was a "Safety Recall" (#14291),but it expired one year before our car developed the problem. We have contacted the dealership and Buick, neither one will help us. They expect us to pay for the replacement of the defective part (Headlamp Driver Module).

The contact owns a 2008 Buick LaCrosse. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the headlamps had failed. The headlamps were replaced and the failure was remedied however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V519000 (Exterior Lighting). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 41,000.

THE DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. I DID LOOK UP ANY RECALLS, WHICH THERE WAS FOR THIS, BUT IT SHOWS THAT IT WAS FIXED. WE DIDN'T HAVE AN ISSUES FOR THE FIRST 9 MONTHS AND HAVE NOW REPLACED THE BULB SEVERAL TIMES. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT IS HAPPENING WHILE MY DAUGHTER IS DRIVING THIS AT NIGHT IN A RURAL AREA WITH A LOT OF DEER AND OTHER ANIMALS RUNNING INTO THE ROADS.

THE HDM FAILED LEAVING ME WITH ONLY HIGH BEAMS, HAVE BEE TOLD THEY ARE NOT UNDER RECALL. SHAMROCK SERVICE CENTER, SPENT 1 AND 1/2 HRS DIAGNOSING AND FOUND NO RECALL. MANY OTHER MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I AM RETIRED AND CANNOT AFFORD THIS REPAIR. WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME. WHEN I TURNED ON THE LIGHTS TO GO HOME LAST WEEK, THERE WERE NO LIGHTS BUT HIGH BEAMS. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BULBS, SO I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND I AM WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN. I KNOW THIS WILL BE EXPENSIVE AS I THINK ITS AROUND $100.00 PER HR. IT WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHERE I DISCOVERED IT. Door locks somtimes would lock or unlock and other times not work at all. Made it a issue when parking or entering the car. I had to replace the lock mechanism in the doors. The car has 99135 miles on it but should not have a problem especally the back doors since they are not used very often.

THE POWER DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY EVEN WHEN USING THE INTERIOR SWITCHES. MOST OF THE TIME, DOORS MUST BE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED MANUALLY ! OUR 2008 BUICK LACROSSE CXL HAS LESS THAN 51,000 MILES AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I'VE READ THAT PEOPLE WERE TRAPPED/ UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THEIR LACROSSE WHEN TRIP WAS DONE.

CAR IS STATIONARY. AT APPROXIMATELY 50000 MI. (AND 6 YRS OF AGE) ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS STARTED RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY STICKING. SYMPTOM IS THAT, ONCE INSIDE THE CAR AND DOORS ARE LOCKED, DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK AND HANDLES DO DO NOT OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. SOLUTION WAS TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND ATTEMPT TO OPEN FROM OUTSIDE WHICH SOMETIMES WORKED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT OR PASSENGERS ARE OTHERWISE IN DISTRESS, CANNOT EXIT THE CAR. HAVE SEEN REPEATED REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. SAFETY ISSUE.

I HAD DRIVEN TO THE STORE, WHEN I TRIED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THE DRIVER'S DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED IN A WAY THAT PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM OPENING. I TRIED USING THE INNER AND OUTER HANDLES, I ALSO TRIED USING THE DOOR LOCK SWITCH AND THE MANUAL LOCK NOB. I HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BY CRAWLING OVER THE CENTER CONSOLE TO USE THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR THE NEXT DAY BY RAPIDLY LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR USING THE MANUAL LOCK NOB A GOOD 30 TIMES. THE CAR IS A FOUR DOOR AND NONE OF THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS WORK. THE CAR ALSO HAS 99500 MILES. THE FACT THAT ALL FOUR LOCKS HAVE FAILED IS ONE THING, IT'S THE FACT THAT THEY CAN LEAVE YOU UNABLE TO USE YOUR DOOR IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THAT IS THE MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. FIXING JUST THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS COSTING ME $525.00 AT A LOCAL BUICK DEALERSHIP. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM ACROSS ALL GM W-BODY CARS FROM ABOUT 2006 TO 2009.

MY 2008 BUICK WAS RECALLED BY BUICK FOR SAFETY RECALL 14291 AS INSTRUCTED I MADE AN APPOINT AT CENTRAL BUICK IN NORWOOD MA FOR 08:00 1/11/17 ON ARRIVAL THEY TOOK MY PAPERS AND DECIDED THEY COULDN'T DO THIS SAFETY RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHTS BECAUSE THE CAR HAD A "BRANDED TITLE". I BOUGHT THIS CAR 5 YEARS AGO AND IT DOES HAVE A RECONSTRUCTED TITLE IN MASS DUE TO A PRIOR ACCIDENT THAT WAS FIXED AND INSPECTED PRIOR TO MY BUYING THE CAR. I DON'T SEE WHY BUICK REFUSED TO REPLACE THIS RELAY. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS REFUSE TO WORK DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE RELAY. ON DEC. 18TH MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT GOING TO A CHRISTMAS PARTY WHEN THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING.I SWITCHED TO THE HIGH BEAMS AS THEY WERE STILL FUNCTIONING. WE WENT THE LAST MILE TO OUR DESTINATION ON THE HIGH BEAMS. I TURNED OFF THE CAR TO SEE IF THAT WOULD RE;SET THE LIGHTS, IT DID NOT. WE WENT TO THE PARTY AND CAME BACK TO THE CAR APX. 3 HOURS LATER. I STARTED THE CAR AND THE LOW BEAMS CAME ON..AFTER ABOUT 1/2 MILE THEY WENT OUT AGAIN..SO I PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF THE CAR TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COME ON UPON RE-START,THEY DID NOT,SO WE CONTINUED ON WITH HIGH BEAMS. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES THE LOW BEAMS CAME ON FOR THE REST OF OUR TRIP HOME. THE NEXT DAY I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON-LINE AND DISCOVERED A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM I CONTACTED THE LOCAL BUICK DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAD NO DIRECTION ON HOW TO FIX IT FROM G.M. MY WIFE CALLED ANOTHER AREA BUICK DEALER AND RECIEVED THE SAME REPLY..SHE WAS ABLE TO GET A HOLD OF G.M. AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WOULD GET BACK TO US.. WE NEVER R GOT ANY RECALL NOTICE FROM G.M. I HAD TO PRINT ALL THE FORMS FROM THE NHTSA WEB SITE.. SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR LAW SUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN AFTER SOMETHING REALLY BAD HAPPENS (IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME). THIS PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE CENTERS ON THE DETACHMENT OF THE REAR SPOILER WHILE OPERATING MY 2008 BUICK LACROSSE, MY ARGUMENT IS THAT ENGINEERS, BOTH LICENSED AND UNLICENSED, ARE EMPLOYED BY VEHICLE MANUFACTURING CORPORATIONS. THEY ARE ENGAGED IN THE PROCESS OF MANUFACTURING VEHICLES THAT ARE PLACE INTO OPERATION ON OUR NATION'S HIGHWAYS. THEIR WORK DIRECTLY AFFECTS PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY AS MUCH, IF NOT MORE THAN THEIR LICENSED COLLEAGUES IN CONSULTING ENGINEERING. THESE ENGINEERS AND THEIR CORPORATIONS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND PRODUCT LIABILITY. THIS HAS BEEN CLEARLY DOCUMENTED BY CASES SUCH AS MACPHERSON V. BUICK. THIS INCLUDES ENGINEERING DESIGN AND ENGINEERING MANUFACTURING DEFECTS, SHORTFALLS, AND SHORTCOMINGS. I WAS COMMUTING TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WORK TO OBTAIN AN ANNUAL VIRGINIA STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE SOUTHBOUND, AT A SPEED OF 60-65 MPH, AROUND THE 147 MILE-MARKER, THE REAR SPOILER DETACHES FROM MY VEHICLE CAUSING AT LEAST TWO TRAILING VEHICLES TO OPERATE THEIR VEHICLES ERRATICALLY IN AN AVOIDANCE MANEUVER. THE REAR SPOILER DETACHED AND SKIDDED TO A HALT ON THE LEFT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I THEN SIGNALED TO THE LEFT SHOULDER TO STOP RETRIEVE THE DETACHED SPOILER. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN EGREGIOUS OUTCOME.

THERE IS A NHTSA SERVICE BULLETIN ID # 10024713 RELATED TO A POWER STEERING LEAK CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE PART OR DESIGN. THE BULLETIN RECOMMENDS A TIE DOWN STRAP TO PREVENT HOSE WEAR AND RESULTING LEAKAGE OF FLUID. LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE POWER STEERING UNIT CAN RESULT FROM THIS LEAK. I BELIEVE BUICK HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME. SOMETIMES WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THE CAR DOES NOT COME TO A SMOOTH STOP, BUT RATHER JERKS AHEAD AND TAKES A VERY LONG DISTANCE TO STOP. THIS OCCURS OFTEN ON SNOW COVERED ROADS BUT ALSO OCCURS ON DRY ROADS. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A SMALL ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT STOP IN TIME. THE MESSAGE TO CHECK THE ABS OFTEN SHOWS. I HAVE JUST HAD A NEW BRAKE JOB WITH NEW ROUTERS BUT STILL GET THE MESSAGE TO CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND IT SEEMS THAT NOTHING WILL FIX IT. AIR BAG REGISTERED AS OFF WHEN A PERSON WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND AFTER 18 MONTHS THE SAME PROBLEM IS RECURRING. THE AIR BAG WILL BE ON THEN SWITCH OFF AND ON ALL WHILE A PERSON IS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND NOT DOING ANYTHING OTHER THAN SITTING. CURRENT MILEAGE FOR 2ND RECURRENCE IS 46,150. ALSO THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE GOING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HIGH BEAMS MUST BE USED WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HAVE HAD TWO ISSUES INVOLVING THE NEED TO REPLACE WHAT I UNDERSTAND TO BE THE PASSENGER PRESENCE AIRBAG SENSOR. THIS ITEM CONSISTS OF A COMPLETE ASSEMBLY, THE ACTUAL SEAT PASSENGER SENSOR/SCALE ASSEMBLE AND THE ASSOCIATED COMPUTER. AT ABOUT 18,500 WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN GO OFF. THERE WAS A PASSENGER SETTING ON THE SEAT IN EXCESS OF 125 POUNDS WEARING A SEAT BELT. AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND TESTS ,AT 24,008 MILES THE BUICK DEALER REPLACED AN ITEM LISTED ON THE WORK ORDER AS THE INFLATABLE RESTRAINT PASSENGER SEAT SUPPRESSION MODULE 19124100 MODULE KIT. AT ABOUT 42,600 MILES A SIMILAR PROBLEM DEVELOPED IN THAT THE AIRBAG READINESS ICON LIGHT, ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON, INDICATING A COMPLETE AIRBAG SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. I SOON DISCOVERED THAT POUNDING ON THE SEAT WOULD MAKE THE LIGHT GO OUT UNTIL ANOTHER MALFUNCTION OCCURRED, USUALLY WHEN THE PASSENGER GOT OUT OF THE CAR. AGAIN AFTER REPEATED COMPLAINTS AND TESTS AT 46,713 MILES THE BUICK DEALER INSTALLED AN ITEM LISTED ON THE WORK ORDER AS THE A PPS MODULE 19258127 REMANUFACTURED MODULE KIT. BY WHATEVER NAME THIS THE SECOND TIME A COMPLETE PASSENGER PRESENCE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. IN THE FIRST INSTANCE WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED THERE WAS NO AIR BAD PROTECTION FOR THE PASSENGER. IN THE LATTER CASE THERE WAS A COMPLETE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTEE BUT THE SECOND REPLACEMENT I HAD TO PAY FOR MYSELF. INTERNET SEARCHES HAVE DISCLOSED THAT THERE ARE OTHER 2008 BUICK LACROSSE OWNERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIRBAG MODULE FAILURE AND COST OF REPLACEMENT. IF BUICK USES PARTS SUBJECT TO REPEATED FAILURE THEIR REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE PAID FOR BY BUICK.

THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY, BUT MAINLY DURING HOT SUMMER DAYS AND HAS CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE MARCH OF 2019. THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN WE ARE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING. WHEN DOING RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER CONSUMERS VEHICLES. I HAD READ IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND IN MY OPINION THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. ANOTHER ISSUE WE HAVE THAT I ALSO SEEN WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH LACROSSE OWNERS, IS THE POWER LOCKS. NONE OF MY LOCK WORK PROPERLY, ALL OF THEM HAVE TO BE MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED. TODAY, DECEMBER 10, 2019, WE NOTICED THAT WHEN I TRIED GETTING OUT OF THE CAR THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. DOOR WAS UNLOCKED AND HAD BEEN UNLOCKED. MY BOYFRIEND TRIED OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I TRIED TO LOCK IT AND UNLOCK IT AGAIN, I TRIED PUSHING THE DOOR REALLY HARD TO SEE IF IT WOULD POP OPEN AND NO LUCK. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A LOT MORE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AS I'VE HAD THIS ISSUES AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS.

WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FOLLOWED SHORTLY THEREAFTER BY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT.THEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOT WORK. A NOTICE APPEARED ON THE DASH CONTROL: "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL". IF I HELD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DOWN ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY. I COULD THEN MAINTAIN SPEED BY ALTERNATELY STEPPING ON AND RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL QUICKLY. ACCELERATING FROM A STOPLIGHT IS A VERY SLOW AND DISRUPTIVE (TO TRAFFIC) PROCESS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAS FAILED SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT REPAIR. ON SOME OCCASIONS, THE CAR HAS BEGUN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN DURING THIS PERIOD OF MALFUNCTION, SUCH THAT I HAVE HAD TO RIDE THE BRAKE PEDAL. ON SOME OCCASIONS THIS PROBLEM HAS REMEDIED ITSELF AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS, WITH TURNING THE ENGINE ON AND OFF TO REBOOT. THE PROBLEM CAN LAST FOR DAYS AT A TIME. I HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR TO NO AVAIL. INTERESTINGLY, I ALSO OWNED (UNTIL LAST WEEK) A 2007 LACROSSE WHICH DOES THE EXACT SAME THING, AND HAS ALSO HAD THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR REPLACED WITH NO LUCK. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE DESCRIPTIONS OF THIS BY PEOPLE ONLINE, DESCRIBING EXACTLY THE SAME CONDITIONS AND WARNINGS. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IT HAPPENS, AS I CANNOT SAFELY ACCELERATE IN BUSY TRAFFIC, AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN TO SPEEDS UNSAFE FOR THE CONDITIONS. 2008 BUICK LACROSSE - AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON NEAR THE SPEEDOMETER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT WILL STAY ON FOR A COUPLE MINUTES THEN SHUT OFF. THERE ARE 74,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND I JUST BOUGHT IT USED FROM A BUICK DEALERSHIP. I'M ASSUMING THE PROBLEM WAS THERE WITH PREVIOUS OWNERS AS WELL SINCE IT HAPPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR HOME AFTER PURCHASING. THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR LOCATED IN THE GAS TANK HAS FAILED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST THREE YEARS. EACH TIME THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THIS HAS OCCURRED FIRST IN DEC. 2008 (7574 MILES), THEN NOV. 2009 (21145 MILES), AND NOW DEC. 2010 (37344 MILES). THE SERVICE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS FAIRLY COMMON (IN FACT, WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR THIS TIME, THERE WAS A PONTIAC AZTEC WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BEING REPAIRED). THE TECH ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE CAUSE IS SULFUR IN THE GAS CAUSING THE SMALL WIRES IN THE SENSOR TO CORRODE AND EVENTUALLY BREAK. THE MODULE ERROR CODE ERROR IS P0463.

THE CAR'S AIR BAG LIGHT BY THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHETHER THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG ON/OFF LIGHT NEAR GLOVE COMPARTMENT TURNS TO OFF WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES. IN JUNE, I TOOK THE CAR INTO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. UNFORTUNATELY, THE COMPUTER DOESN'T STORE A CODE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC TRIED TO IMPROVE THE CONNECTION TO THE PASSENGER SEAT AND "RELEARNED" THE COMPUTER; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. MECHANIC SAID IT "MIGHT" BE A $1,000 FIX WHICH INVOLVES PART OF THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION ITSELF! IT COST ME $100 TO FIND OUT THIS MUCH AND ATTEMPT A CORRECTION, BUT $1,000 IS RIDICULOUS; ESPECIALLY FOR A "MAYBE" FIX. I SEE OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, TOO. I'VE ALREADY HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH KEY FIX AT THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH THE ENGINE DIED, STEERING FAILED; I WAS ABLE TO COME TO A SAFE STOP. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IT HAD TO BE TOWED. LATER FOUND OUT THE IGNITION COIL WAS CRACKED (PART # 10472401) , IGNITION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED (PART # 19245558) & 15A FUSE WERE REPLACED. I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE VEHICLE FOR MONTHS. I HAD IT INTO A GM DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THE ISSUE WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR STATION THAT THEY WERE AMAZED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD NOT COME ON BEFORE THE FAILURE. APPARENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY FIRING ON 4 CYLINDERS. *TR

THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE (NOT THE IGNITION SWITCH) FAILED SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE DRIVER ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL EMITTED A LOUD METAL NOISE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BRAKE PADS, BRAKE DRUMS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

I TURNED RIGHT ONTO A VERY STEEPLY GRADED RURAL ROAD. THE ROAD HAS 3 SERVICE RAMPS TO A MAJOR HIGHWAY, RT 28N. IT ALSO HAS 1 ROAD THAT ALLOWS A R/L ACCESS TO BURTON AND A CROSS TRAFFIC ACCESS TO 28N. I HAD JUST STARTED THE DESCENT DOWN BURTON WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I APPLIED THE BRAKE TWICE TO REDUCE SPEED; IT WAS NON-RESPONSIVE. THE CAR CONTINUE TO SPEED DOWN THE HILL FOR APPROXIMATELY 3/4 MILE. THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN ABOUT 1/2 MILE BEYOND THE ACCESS ROAD TO 28 N. WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OVER TO A GRAVEL/WEED "SHOULDER" I FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS ALSO OUT. I COULD NOT PULL COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD, THUS CREATING A DANGER TO ANY CAR ON BURTON ROAD. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THE CAR WAS TOTALLY INOPERABLE. IT HAD TO BE TOWED 20 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP LATE AT NIGHT. THE CAR HAD JUST PASSED THE 50K MILE BUICK INSPECTION. ON THREE PRIOR OCCASIONS, THOUGH, THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH A WINDOW MALFUNCTION, AND TWO DOORS LATCHES ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE SERVICE REPORT STATES THAT THE ENTIRE IGNITION COIL AND MODULE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE IGNITION MODULE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SAME ASSEMBLY DESIGN WAS USED IN THE BUICK LESABRE, THE CHEVY IMPALA, AND ONE OTHER BUICK MODEL. BUICK APOLOGIZED FOR THE FAILURE OF THESE COMPONENTS AND FOR PUTTING ME AND MY PASSENGERS INTO WHAT WAS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF BAIERL CHEVROLET (A QUALITY DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE ORGANIZATION) THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WITH OTHER OWNERS, BUT NONE HAD BEEN IN THE SITUATION I WAS IN. I WANTED TO REPORT THIS BECAUSE I FOUND NO INDICATIONS ON THE BUICK WEBSITE THAT SUCH FAILURES WERE POSSIBLE. ONLY WAY TO LOCK OR UNLOCK DOORS IS TO MANUALLY LOCK OR UNLOCK DOORS, EXCEPT DRIVERS DOOR WHICH WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK WITH KEY. REMOTE START DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE DOOR CAN'T BE LOCKED WITH FAB. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL 4 DOORS NEEDED TO HAVE THE ACTUATORS REPLACED. PRICED OVER $1000.00. THEY OFFERED TO PAY $350.00. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE CONTROL UNIT THAT SENDS SIGNALS TO ACTUATORS, BOTH BY DOOR SWITCHES AND THE FAB. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2008 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD FRICTION SOUND AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSE THAT THE FRONT BRAKE HUB SPEED SENSOR, THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WIRING CONNECTOR TERMINAL WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE HAD TWO FAILURE INCIDENTS WITH THE JACK AND THE LUG WRENCH THAT CAME WITH MY VEHICLE FROM BUICK. APPROXIMATE 1 YEAR AGO I WAS USING THE JACK FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT CAME APART WITH THE VEHICLE RAISED ON IT. BUICK REPLACED THE JACK. I WAS USING THE REPLACEMENT JACK FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST WEEK AND THE ORIGINAL LUG WRENCH SPLIT AT THE SOCKET END. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS WRENCH WAS USED. SOMETIMES IT WORKS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. WORKED PERFECTLY FINE, THEN PROBLEMS STARTED. 99% OF THE TIME IT WILL NOT START THE CAR. 50% OF THE TIME IT WILL OR WILL NOT, LOCK OR UNLOCK CAR. I HAVE TRIED RESETTING AND/OR PERSONALIZING KEYS & FOB THROUGH DIC CENTER. CAR WILL SOUND HORN TO SHOW IT HAS BEEN RESET PROPERLY, BUT ISN'T. STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY ALSO WHEN USING RKE, THE DOOR LOCK KNOB WILL NOT COME UP ALL THE WAY AND THE DOOR IS NOT UNLOCKED. ALSO, THE DOOR LICK KNOW WILL NOT GO DOWN ALL THE WAY IF I USE THE RKE FOB. IF I USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, THE DOOR KNOB WILL COME UP ALL THE WAY AND THE DOOR WILL UNLOCK. IF I USE THE RKE FOB TO LOCK THE DOOR, THE DOOR KNOB WILL NOT GO DOWN ALL THE WAY AND THE DOOR WILL NOT BE LOCKED.
