On [XXX], my son drove the car to Wendy’s to get lunch around 12:30 pm. He returned, parked the car in the driveway. My son entered the house and while we were eating lunch the doorbell rang, it was the police informing us that my car was on fire in the driveway. The fire department was called and they eventually extinguished the fire which started under the hood of the car. The jaws of life were used to cut the hood of the car loose to fully extinguish the fire. The car is destroyed. There is no fixing it. Marion, Virginia Fire Department extinguished the fire and stated that a report could be obtained but they were positive the fire started in the engine. RECALL FIXED THE FRONT VALVE COVER AND THE REAR ONE SHOULD OF BEEN DONE ALSO DUE TO THE LEAKING OF OIL THAT COULD POTENTIALLY START A FIRE FROM LEAKING ON THE BLOCK AND POSSIBLY BURN ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD.

The 2001 buick regal that we have has very inadequate head lights as far as im concerned it is a wiring problem dims are so dim that it's like you have no head lights at all bright are just bright enough to almost see 50 to 100 feet in front of vehicle also this buick is not the only gm vehicle I have experienced this on the 98 buick century's have same head light problem some what worse though also our 2002 chevy venture van has same extremely dim dims on all three vehicles brights are substituted for dims I have tried to rimity the problem by cleaning oxidation from lenses also replacing head lamp bulbs on one vehicle lenses had condensation inside lenses replaced both lenses but the results were same extremely dim dims and still had to substitute brights for dims to see also thought batterie might be getting weak both van and buick have new batteries and alternator on Both are charging strong and to specification so after all that still have head lamp problem no worse no better

THERE ARE THREE THINGS THAT THIS VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL DOES. FIRST IF YOU TRY TO USE THE RESUME FEATURE, IT ACCELERATES WILDLY SO YOU HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE IT. SECOND, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE SET AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY JUST GO TO MAXIMUM ACCELERATION AND AGAIN YOU MUST USE THE BRAKE TO DISENGAGE IT. THIRD AND MOST RECENT, WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN WITH THE CRUISE ON BUT NOT ENGAGED, THE CRUISE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF AT FULL ACCELERATION ALL BY ITSELF. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. GM HAS NO IDEA WHERE TO LOOK OTHER THAN REPLACING ABOUT $900.00 WORTH OF PARTS. IN CHECKING ON THIS SITUATION, I FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF THIS SAME DEFECT WITH OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE AND HE SHOULD FILE A SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR. THE INCIDENT INVOLVES THE CRUISE CONTROL OF THIS VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ON I-65. I SET THE CRUISE FOR 65 MPH. LATER, I PUSHED THE ACCELERATE BUTTON TO INCREASE THE SPEED BY 5 MPH. I RELEASED THE SWITCH AT THE DESIRED SPEED BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AS IF I FLOORED IT. I QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKES AND THAT FIRST STOPPED THE ACCELERATION. BUT AS SOON AS I RELEASED THE BRAKES, IT WENT BACK TO ACCELERATION. I THEN TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION AND THAT STOPPED THE ACCELERATION. I CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 10 MILES WHEN I TRIED THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN. THE UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION OCCURRED AGAIN WHEN I USED THE ACCELERATE BUTTON BUT THIS TIME I APPLIED THE DECELERATE BUTTON ONE TIME AS IF TO DECREASE THE SPEED BY 1 MPH. THAT ACTION KILLED THE CRUISE CONTROL ALL TOGETHER. IF I WANTED CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN, I WOULD HAVE TO RESET THE DESIRED SPEED ALL OVER AGAIN AS IF IT WEREN'T SET AT ALL. I HAVE ANOTHER INCIDENT INVOLVING THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE SAME TRIP. I HAD THE DESIRED SPEED SET. WHEN THE CAR HIT A BUMP SUCH AS A SMALL POTHOLE, THE CAR'S SPEED SUDDENLY WOULD START TO INCREASE AS IF I FLOORED IT. AGAIN I HAD TO APPLY THE OFF SWITCH OR DECELERATE BUTTON TO KILL IT. ANOTHER INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE SAME TRIP INVOLVING THE CRUISE CONTROL. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH IN THE ON POSITION BUT HADN'T SET THE SPEED WHEN I HIT A BUMP ON THE INTERSTATE. AGAIN THE CAR ACTED AS IF I FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR AND AGAIN I HAD TO TURN THE SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION OR USE THE DECELERATE BUTTON TO STOP IT. I HAD THIS CAR TROUBLE-SHOT FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY FOUND THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL MODULE WAS AT FAULT BUT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER NATIONWIDE. I WAS TOLD I COULD BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST BUT IT COULD BE A WHILE. THERE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED IN ANY DIRECTION. IT COULD BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT HAD A FAULTY RACK. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THE NOISE IS GONE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 BUICK REGAL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND APPROACHING AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES; HOWEVER, HE FELT THE FAILURE WAS LIFE THREATENING WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABLE TO BE DRIVEN IN 1ST, 2ND, AND REVERSE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIR AND HE STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A DEFECTIVE TORQUE CONVERTER THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT 92,000 MILES. THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THE VEHICLE WAS THE ORIGINAL PART. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

2001 BUICK REGAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED. *KB WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAVE A SLIGHT LURCH, A WEAK THUD AND IT KICKED DOWN FROM DRIVE TO THIRD GEAR. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER TO A REST STOP AND WHEN HE WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE IN REVERSE, FIRST OR SECOND GEAR. IT WOULD ONLY LURCH FORWARD WHEN IN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE PLANETARY HAD A BROKEN GEAR, SOME DAMAGED CLUTCH DISKS AND METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE PAN. THE CONSUMER DIDN'T GET TOO FAR WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HE SMELLED FUMES AND SAW BLUE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER, OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW BLUE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONSUMER AND A POLICE OFFICER OBSERVED A DAMP SPOT ON THE GROUND WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE TRANSMISSION FLUID. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STICK WAS CHECKED IT SHOWED THERE WAS NO FLUID. WE WERE CURSING ON I-5 AT 70 MPH IN CRUISE CONTROL SOUTH OF STOCKTON, CA, WHEN THE CAR GAVE A SLIGHT LURCH, A THUD AND SLOWED DOWN. I STOPPED CHECKED THE TIRES, ALL OK. CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL AND A/T FLUID, ALL OK. PROCEEDED TO OXNARD, CA HAD THE A/T REPAIRED COSTING US SENIORS $3,600--OUCH. THE SHOP SAID THE PLANETARY GEAR AND THE CLUTCH DISKS WERE BROKEN WITH METAL FRAGMENT IS THE PAN. I KNOW IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT GOSH, IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER THAN IT DID KONKING OUT AT 40,300. I WOULD LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE TRASMISSION ON MY 2001 BUICK REGAL W/ 69500 MILES ON IT. ON 12/25/2004 AFTER ACCELARATING ON AN ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY, MY TRANSMISSION GAVE A CRACKING SOUND. STARTING AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES THERE WAS A VERY DISTINCT RUBBING SOUND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES IN A NON-EMERGENCY SITUATION (IT REMINDED ME OF THE SOUND BRAKES MAKE WHEN THEY HAVE TOO MUCH WEAR AND USUALLY IT'S AN INDICATION THE BRAKES NEED TO BE RELPACED). AT ABOUT 15,000 MILES I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AND THE DEALER STATED NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. AT ABOUT 29,500 I HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED. ABOUT 5,000 MILES AFTER THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED THE SOUND HAS STARTED AGAIN. IT SOUNDS AS IF THE ABS IS CONSTANTLY ENGAGED BUT THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. I'M CONVINCED THERE IS A BRAKE PROBLEM THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND I'M CONCERNED THE BRAKES WILL FAIL IN AN EMERGENCY. THE DEALERS SEEM UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A PROBLEM. I have a buick.regal go 3.8 was just notified about recall for under hood fire I have not had this happen yet but I have been a mechanic for.8 years and from what I've seen with my 3.8 and others I have worked on it's not just only the front valve cover and gasket I have noticed that on mine I had oil pooling from lower intake manifold onto transmission also same thing on right hand side of engine the intake leaks oil were the factory uses the silicone form a gasket when sealant goes bad the oil pools on top of transmission and on right the oil pools on top of the timing cover /water pump housing so I think just replacing the front valve cover is not an adequate fix when you have two ends of lower intake leaking oil and also rear valve cover leaking the rear may not be as big of fire hazard but those intake leaks were they pool could very well poor that pooled oil onto front exuast manifold and or crossover pipe when a had break is applied to vehicle

WE TOOK OUR CAR IN FOR RECALL REPAIR ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 6, 2016. WHEN THE DEALER RETURNED OUR CAR IT CUT OFF CONTINUOUSLY. AS A MATTER IF FACT IT CUT OFF WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A MAJOR BUSY STREET. WE RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER EXPLAINING THAT THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM WHEN WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER HAS HAD OUR CAR FOR A MONTHS AND STATED THAT IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE AND IT WOULD COST $400. WE TOLD THE DEALER WE DID NOT HAVE $400. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WE HAVE BROUGHT OUR CAR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. OUR DAUGHTER WENT WITH US TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CUT HALF OF THE COST FOR REPAIR AND THAT OUR CAR WOULD BE READY FRIDAY, MAY 6, 2016. THE DEALER STILL HAS OUR CAR AND STATED THE PART THAT WAS ORDERED DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE DEALER AS OF TODAY, MONDAY, MAY 9, 2016. WE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS AND WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR AND NOT TO PARK IT IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE IT MIGHT CATCH ON FIRE. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT OUR CAR SINCE WE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER AND WAITING ON THE PART TO ARRIVE AT THE DEALER. WE ARE VERY FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE RECEIVED DURING THIS RECALL PROCESS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT STARTED THE ENGINE ON A COLD START AND A SHAKING MOTION OCCURRED. ADDITIONALLY, WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION THE ENGINE POWER FAILED TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO EXCEED OVER 25 MPH. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE POWER TRAIN, TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTIONS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING ALL OVER HIS DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS RUST CORROSION UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CORROSION WAS CAUSING THE LEAK AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL OF THE PARTS THAT WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19000.

I WAS DRIVING DOING ALMOST 50 WHEN IT SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I JUST LET THE CAR COAST TO A STOP, THE SECOND TIME WAS EXACTLY THE SAME EXCEPT I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL WHILE I STILL HAD A GOOD BIT OF SPEED AND CRUNK IT BACK UP. THE CAR ALWAYS CRANK RIGHT BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEM AND DRIVES FINE. ON 1997-2004 "W PLATFORM" GM AUTOS, INCLUDING MY REGAL, THE ABS SENSOR DESIGN IS FLAWED IN THAT IT'S WIRING IS LOCATED IN AN EXPOSED LOCATION AT THE INSIDE BOTTOM OF THE WHEEL HUB THAT ANY ROAD DITRITUS CAN IMPACT, CAUSING THE TRACK SYSTEM OFF DASH LIGHT TO COME ON AND ABS BRAKING TO FAIL. I AM NOW ON MY 6TH REPLACEMENT INCIDENT SINCE 2006, WHEN IT HAPPENED THE 1ST TIME. (2 EACH ON THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS AND 1 ON A REAR. DO NOT KNOW AT THIS TIME WHICH WHEEL IS INVOLVED THIS TIME,) EVERY TIME THE LITTLE SENSOR WIRE BREAKS OR GETS CUT & YOU CAN'T JUST FIX THE WIRE, IT REQUIRES A TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF THE WHEEL HUB AND COSTS NEARLY $500 A POP. THE WIRE IS RIDICULOUSLY EASY TO DAMAGE JUST BY DRIVING THROUGH PLOW DRIFT IN THE DRIVEWAY OR HITTING SMALL TREE BRANCH DETRITUS ON THE ROAD THAT BOUNCES OFF THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND SNAGS THE WIRE. MOST COMMONLY IT BREAKS INSIDE THE INSULATION AND INTERMITENTLY SHORTS OUT WHEN IT GETS WET, (& DISAPPEARS WHEN IT DRIES OUT AGAIN) CAUSING THE ABS SYSTEM TO STUTTER WHEN BRAKING, & MAKING IT EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE TO DIAGNOSE BEFORE FIXING (AN EXTRA $129). TAKATA RECALL... WHILE DRIVING IN OUR CITY ALL INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT WENT TO FLASHING AND THE GAUGES WERE QUIVERING, BELLS WENT OFF AND MY CAR DIED RIGHT THERE IN THE TRAFFIC WHILE GOING 25 MPH. I HAD MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON IN THE CAR WITH ME AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD WE AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. CAR WOULDN'T RESTART FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES BUT EVENTUALLY DID WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. DAUGHTER GOT THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. HUSBAND GOT THE CAR HOME AND LEFT IT. IT WOULDN'T START BACK THE NEXT DAY BUT AFTER CONTINUALLY TRYING IT EVENTUALLY STARTED BUT HAD A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STILL GOING CRAZY. HUSBAND CALLED OUR LOCAL GARAGE WHILE I STARTED A SEARCH ON THE WEB FOR POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS. I CAME ACROSS OTHERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AS WE WERE EXPERIENCING AND FOUND THAT THEIR PROBLEM WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH. OUR LOCAL GARAGE SUGGESTED WE LOOK FOR GROUND WIRE PROBLEMS. I WATCHED A VIDEO OF A CAR DOING THE SAME THING MINE WAS DOING, THAT PERSON REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND ALL WAS WELL. I READ AND WATCHED A VIDEO OF WHERE ONE SAID TO TURN ON THE FLASHERS OR HEADLIGHTS BEFORE TRY TO START THE CAR, THIS ALLOWED THE CAR TO START WITH NO PROBLEMS. TRIED IT AND IT WORKED. ONE OTHER THING WITHOUT THE FLASHERS OR HEADLIGHTS ON, THE SIFTER IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK. CALLED OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT A RECALL AND WAS LAUGHED AT AND SPOKEN TO AS IF I WAS A CHILD. SHE SAID IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH AND 1 PERSON HAD A COMPLAINT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. I TOLD HER THERE WAS PLENTY DOCUMENTATION ON YOUTUBE TO GO WATCH IT. I HAD MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME SO WE ALL WERE IN PANIC MODE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT HAS NOW MADE ME VERY NERVOUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FAILURES WITH THE POWER WINDOWS EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND PROCEEDING TO ROLL DOWN THE FRONT WINDOW, THE WINDOW STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE ROLLED BACK UP. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO USE THAT WINDOW AGAIN AND THERE WAS NO REMEDY TO REPAIR IT; THEREFORE, IT WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL. DRIVING THE CAR TO THE SHOPPING MALL THERE WAS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY, NO SMELL, NO NOISE. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER I REMEMBERED I FORGOT SOMETHING IN THE CAR AND WENT OUT TO RETRIEVE IT WHEN I SAW FIRE TRUCKS. THERE WERE FLAMES SHOOTING OUT 10 FEET HIGH OF A CAR, THINKING POOR FOOL, THEN REALIZING THAT FOOL WAS ME! IT WAS MY 2001 REGAL. THE CAR WAS TORCHED TO THE INSIDE DASH BOARD. WITNESSES STATED SPARKS WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT LEFT, WHEN IT BURST INTO FLAMES. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE CAR IS TOAST. AT ABOUT 80,000 MILES GRINDING NOISE IN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL DEVELOPED, REPLACED BRAKES AND ROTORS FOUND THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING WAS BAD AND HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED . AT ABOUT 84,000 MILES THE LIFTERS WERE MAKING A TICKING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A HELICOPTER, REPLACED THE LIFTERS AT A COST OF $1600 THIS WAS JUST ONE MONTH AFTER THE FINAL PAYMENT OF THE 5 YEAR LOAN ONE MONTH AFTER THE LIFTERS WERE REPLACED THE ENGINE SEIZED UP NEEDED TO BE TOWED AND I'M TOLD THAT THE MAIN BEARING HAS GONE BAD AND THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR REBUILT. *NM

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH LOW AIR PRESSURE IN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE OF MY 2001 BUICK REGAL. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN SIGNIFICANT CORROSION ON ALL OF THE CHROME COATED ALUMINUM RIMS SINCE MY PURCHASE. I HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP WITH MY DEALERSHIP, GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND VARIOUS TIRE MANUFACTURERS. ALL PARTIES INVOLVED WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE PROBLEMS CITING REASONS HAVING TO DO WITH MOTHER NATURE, AND/OR BLAMING EACH OTHER TO AVOID THE ISSUE. I RECENTLY HAD A FRONT TIRE CHANGE WHERE THE EMPLOYEE WORKING ON IT INFORMED ME OF A "CRACKED OR "FRACTURED" WHEEL. AFTER CONTACTING GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BEING SENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THAT THE CRACK MUST HAVE COME FROM EITHER CORROSION, OR HITTING A POTHOLE. I DISAGREED WITH THEIR ASSESSMENT AND DEMANDED A NEW RIM FREE OF CHARGE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED A CRACK IN A RIM. IT IS MY POSITION THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A "DEATH IN THE FIELD". I WILL BE REPLACING THE RIM AT MY COST, YET I NEED THIS ISSUE RESOLVED BEFORE THE OTHER THREE RIMS ON MY CAR POSSIBLY CRACK. ALSO, I NEED TO FIND OUT HOW "COMMON" CRACKED RIMS ARE ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE, AND WHY THEY WERE NEVER RECALLED. *JB

I HAVE A 2001 BUICK REGAL, PURCHASED NEW IN OCTOBER 2001. IN MAY 2005 THE REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FELL. I TOOK IT FOR REPAIR AT A BUICK DEALER AND IT COST ME $516 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. A SHORT TIME AGO THE FRONT WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FELL, AND TODAY THE FRONT WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FELL. I AM IN THE CAR ALONE 99.99% OF THE TIME. THE REAR WINDOWS AND PASSENGER WINDOW ARE NEVER DOWN. INITIALLY I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHY THEY FAILED, BUT NOW THE DRIVERS WINDOW FELL. I SEE THAT JEEP VEHICLES HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. BEING GM PRODUCTS, HAS THIS BEEN DISCUSSED. I JUST PAID THIS CAR OFF AND FEEL IT IS PROBABLY THE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. I HAVE REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND HAD ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. *NM

I OWN A 2001 BUICK REGAL LES. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM A DEALER AS A USED CAR IN JANUARY 2004. I NOTICE THE CAR WAS HARD TO START. I TOOK IT TO A CAR REPAIR PLACE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM BUT CALLED A BUICK DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR FOR THROTTLE BODY BOLTS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE BUICK DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE ON THE CAR AND THEY DID THE RECALL AND REPLACED A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR WHICH HAD FAILED. I HAD TO PAY $197.00 TO HAVE THAT WORK COMPLETED. AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR, I THEN NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE AND THE CAR WAS SHIFTING HARD BETWEEN 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD GEARS (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). I GOT MY HUSBAND TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND HE SPOTTED WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM BUT WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE PRIVATELY OWNED CAR MECHANIC SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE THE PLASTIC INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. I PAID THAT MECHANIC OVER $400.00 TO HAVE THAT FIXED. I ALSO HAD THEM LOOK AT THE SHIFTING PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG. I HAVE TWICE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CHANGED THE FLUID AND REPLACED THE GASKET BUT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH BUICK. I CONTACTED THEM BY E-MAIL AND BY PHONE AND WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL INVOLVING THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR AND PLASTIC MANIFOLD. CAN ANYONE HELP ME IN REGARDS TO THESE CAR PROBLEMS? THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL SHIFTING HARD. *AK
