VALET PERSON WAS PARKING MY RENDEZVOUS IN DEC 2012 AND SAID AS HE APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP HE NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM HOOD. 2,000 IN DAMAGES. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINTIS THAT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKETS TWICE IN THE PAST SIX YEARS. I KEEP BEING TOLD THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL BECAUSE GM HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR NOW WITH ALL THE REPAIRS IVE PUT INTO THIS, AND ITS PROBABLY NOT WORTH MUCH. WE HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT GM VEHICLES BUT WE MAY THINK LONG AND HARD BECAUSE ONCE THEIR OFF THE LOT IT SEEMS NO ONE CARES AND NO ONE WANTS TO BACK UP THEIR PRODUCT.

MY CAR HAS A GAS TANK LEAK FROM THE INTAKE TUBE. IN 2007 I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT IT WASN'T A PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE CAR HAS ONLY 130,000 MILES ON IT. CAN I GET HELP WITH THIS REPAIR? MY LOCAL DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.

I FIND THE 2002 RENDEZVOUS HAS A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK. WHEN THEY MAKE THE TANK THEY USE TWO DIFFERENT PLASTIC MATERIALS FOR THE TANK AND THE FILLER TUBE THAT RESULT ON THE WELD NOT HOLDING ON. AND DUE TO THE UNUSUAL POSITION OF THAT FILLER TUBE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAS TANK A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR EXPLOSION AND FIRE. THERE IS PLENTY OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET PERTAINS ONLY TO THE 2002 MODEL. ACCORDING TO BUICK ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRE.

DEALERSHIP AND BUICK WERE NOT HELPFUL AT PROVIDING ALTERNATIVES TO GETTING ISSUE FIXED. UPON MORE RESEARCH THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME ISSUE. NO BRAKES, BRAKE LINE RUSTED AND BURST, DUE TO IT BEING UNDER FIRE WALL, ACCORDING TO THE MECHNAIC THE FIRE WALL GETS WET AND THIS CAUSES RUST TO SET IN. THE BRAKE LINE WAS NOT VISIBLE TO MECHANIC TO DO AN INSPECTION DURING REGULAR SAFETY CHECKS. SINCE THE LINE WAS NOT VISIBLE THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL IF IT IS VIABLE. THANKFULLY WE FELT THE BRAKES GO SOFT AND STOPPED SAFELY. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN, AND AM NOT SURE HOW MANY MORE CARS ARE DESIGNED IN A SIMILAR MANNER.

MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS HAD COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE A FEW MONTHS AGO. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY TRAVELING ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR AND WAS WITHIN A MILE OF HOME. THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED OUT. THIS CAR WAS STORED IN A GARAGE WHEN NOT DRIVEN AND HAS BEEN IN FLORIDA FOR TWO YEARS. THE BUICK DEALERSHIP IMPLIED THAT THIS IS JUST COMMON WEAR AND TEAR. THERE WAS NO WARNING, AND NO REPAIR SHOP THAT DID WORK ON THE CAR EVER INDICATED THIS RUSTING OF THE BRAKE LINE WAS HAPPENING. CAR HAD ABOUT 100,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ALSO BEEN THROUGH THREE CONTROL MODULES, LUCKILY COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO, BECAUSE I GOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AT TIME OF PURCHASE, THE AIR CONDITIONING, THE HEAD GASKET AND VARIOUS OTHER PROBLEMS WERE COVERED. THIS 2002 MODEL DEFINITELY HAS SOME SPECIFIC AND EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS PROBLEMS. LATELY, IT'S CALMED DOWN. GREAT CAR FOR COMFORT, AND ROOMY FOR CARRYING HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. WINDOW HARDWARE DETERIORATES, RESULTING IN THE SNAPPING OF WINDOW SUPPORT HARDWARE. IN MOST CASES WINDOW GLASS DROPS TOTALLY INSIDE THE DOOR AND IS IRRETRIEVABLE UNLESS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO CHARGES FOR A REPAIR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ABOUT A WEEK APART IN OUR 2002 RENDEZVOUS. I OWN A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS AND THE "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A GARAGE ON 8/19/05 AND THEY FIXED WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS THE PROBLEM (R&R FUEL TANK CONNECTION TO CLEAN AND RE-SECURE, HAD WATER IN CONNECTOR). TOTAL COST OF REPAIR WAS $145.07. ON 8/26/05 THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, WE TOOK THE BACK TO THE SAME GARAGE AND THEY FOUND WATER AGAIN IN THE CONNECTOR AND DETERMINED THAT THE WATER WAS COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEY DISCOVERED THE WATER WAS COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING DRAIN TUBE. AS LONG AS THE CAR WAS SITTING STILL THE A/C WOULD DRAIN PROPERLY, BUT AT SPEED THE FORCE OF AIR WOULD FORCE THE WATER BACK INTO THE INTERIOR UNDERNEATH THE SEATS WHERE MANY OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE, THEREFORE SHORTING THEM OUT. THE SEATS HAD TO TAKEN OUT, THE CARPET HAD TO BE REMOVED AND DRIED OUT AND A NEW A/C DRAIN TUBE WAS INSTALLED. THE EVAPORATOR CASE WAS ALSO RESEALED. TOTAL FOR THIS REPAIR WAS $276.38 UPON ORDERING AND RECEIVING THE NEW DRAIN, THE MECHANIC WAS TOLD THAT THE PART HAD BEEN "UPDATED". THE UPDATED PART HAD A SLIGHT BEND IN IT NOW, AND THE OLD WAS JUST A STRAIGHT PIECE. MY COMPLAINT IS, IF A PIECE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ORIGINAL DESIGN AND I THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE PAY FOR THE DAMAGES OR REPAIRS DUE TO A FAULTY PART. I HAVE TO CARRY A 5 QUART JUG OF OIL WITH ME TO RE-FILL. GOING TO THE DEALER INQUIRING ABOUT A FIX THEY ASKED ME IF I LIVED ON A DIRT ROAD. I'M TOTALLY CONFUSED AS TO WHAT THAT HAD TO DO WITH ANYTHING....BUT NO, I DON'T LIVE ON A DIRT ROAD. I HAVE A SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON NOW, THAT IS SOME DEALER CODE :AUTOZONE DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK., BUT THE DEALER WOULDN'T TELL ME WHAT IT WAS WHEN I CALLED. I HAVE A LIGHT THAT CAME ON FOR THE BRAKES, AS WELL AS A LIGHT FOR SERVICING THE TRACTION SYSTEM?? ALL THIS HAPPENED WITH IN A COUPLE DAYS TIME. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING. THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2002 BUICK, RENDEZVOUS KEPT GOING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP (VANATTA BUICK IN VESTAL NY) AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THEY SCANNED THE DATA OUTPUT AND FOUND SEVERAL CODES THAT INDICATED A MALFUNCTION OF THIS UNIT. I HAD THEM REPLACE THE UNIT. THEY COVERED THE COST OF THE UNIT AND I PAYED THE LABOR.. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURED SENSE THE UNIT WAS REPLACED. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS MALFUNCITON IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. 2002 BUICK RENDEVOUS, ELECTRICAL AND HEAD GASKET PURCHASED THIS CAR OVER A YEAR AGO SO FAR HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND REPAIR TRANSMISSION X2, NEEDS HEAD GASKETS DUE TO MY CAR OVERHEATING GRADUALLY, HAVE TO BLEED THE SYSTEM FOR AIR PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER DAY TO GET HEAT IN THE CAR. MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN REPLACED 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT AFTER BEING UNABLE TO CLEAR ITSELF OF THE CODES. THIS LAST INCIDENT THE BATTERY DIED AND SINCE NOW THE COMPUTER IS RUNNING THE CAR CAUSING MY CAR TO RUN IN PARK AT 3 RPM'S, IN NEUTRAL IT SHOOTS UP TO 4500, IT DRIVES ABOUT 2-2.5 RPMS. THE COMPUTER WAS CLEARED AND RESET LAST NIGHT RPM'S DROPPED TO ABOUT 760 STILL ELEVATED BUT OK, THEN STARTED IT THIS MORNING TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND IT DROVE ITSELF, STALLING AS I WATCHED THE COMPUTER RUN THROUGH AS IT WAS POSSESSED, I HAVE SINCE CALLED THE CAR "CHRISTINE". I CAN SEE THE COMPUTER RUNNING THE CAR, AS THE RPMS ELEVATE AND THEN DECREASE, SHUTTING THE CAR DOWN ETC, I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO RECALLS AS THIS IS SO DANGEROUS. THEN IN SUMMER OF 2006 THE CAR ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AND THE CAR STALLED OUT WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD, ETC. HAD IT TOWED TO BUICK, THEY SAID THE ENGINE HAD A LEAK SOMEWHERE AND WATER LEAKED INTO THE OIL...HUH? ANYWAY, OF COURSE EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, I WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT. THE OPTION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR $6,000. THIS VEHICLE WAS ALREADY PAID OFF AND WORTH ABOUT $14K PRIOR TO THE ENGINE BLOWING UP. I ENDED UP SELLING IT FOR $3K. IS THIS NORMAL? I THINK NOT. I SUBMITTED MY CASE TO SEVERAL "LAWYER" CLAIMING TO SPECIALIZE IN THIS TYPE OF RIP OFF ACTIVITY BY CAR MANUFACTURERS BUT THEY SAID IT WASN'T WORTH IT TO THEM TO PURSUE IT. BOUGHT A USED 2002 RENDEZVOUS IN DECEMBER OF LAST YEAR. FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP, OIL LIGHT ON. TOOK TO PENNZOIL. OIL CHANGED. TWO WEEKS LATER, LOW OIL LIGHT ON. TOOK BACK. LOW ON OIL. TOOK TO GARAGE, SAYS IT'S LEAKING FROM AROUND THE TRASNSFER CASE (THEY THINK) AND CAN'T FIX IT. NOW BIG PROBLEM: TRAVELING TO AN APPOINTMENT. HAD JUST FILLED GAS TANK ABOUT 30 MILES BEFORE, LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY. STARTED SURGING AND IDLING SO FAST IT COULD DRIVE ITSELF. JUST QUIT AT 60 MILES AN HOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. CAUSED A SLIGHT FENDER BENDER, BUT NO ONE WAS HURT. EVERYONE AGREED IT WAS OK NOT TO CALL THE POLICE FOR A REPORT. (MISTAKE) CALLED ONSTAR. THEY SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A RELAY GETTING TOO HOT, PROBABLY CAUSING PART OF THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT ALL OF IT. HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC FRIEND. RELATED HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. HUSBAND TOOK IT OUT A FEW DAYS LATER TO SEE IF IT WAS ACTING ANY BETTER, DROVE JUST FINE AND THEN DID THE SAME THING. QUIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT HAVE NO MONEY. STRETCHED OUR BUDGET TO BUY RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION FOR OUR FAMILY. WAS TOLD BUICK WAS A RELIABLE AUTOMOBILE. HAS TURNED OUT TO BE THE WORST WE'VE EVER OWNED. ALSO, HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE WHEEL BEARINGS CHANGED TWICE, AND WE'VE ONLY HAD IT SINCE DECEMBER. WHILE TRAVELING HOME FOR SPRING BREAK. MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2008 AND IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM STOCKTON CA TO TRACY CA WHERE IT REMAINS AWAITING A SERVICE AUTHORIZATION TO BE FIXED FROM MY CONTRACT HOLDER. THE MECHANIC AT THE TRACY DEALERSHIP STATED THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, THE OIL WAS VERY LOW AND THAT THE ENGINE HAD INTERNAL PROBLEMS THAT WOULD REQUIRE HIM TO DISMANTLE OR REPLACE THE ENGINE. I HAVE A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. WE HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR! ON TOP OF OUR 400 DOLLAR A MONTH CAR PAYMENT WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO REPLACE ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. OUR AC CONDENSER AND BLOWER DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. IN FACT ONLY THE TWO HIGHEST SETTINGS OF THE HEATER WORK ON OUR CAR. SO IT'S GREAT DRIVING HOURS TO CHRISTMAS KNOWING THAT OUR THREE YOUNG DAUGHTERS WILL EITHER BE FREEZING OR SWEATING. THE 150 WE SPENT PERSONALLY TO BUY THE WHEEL BEARING? TOO BAD GM SAID. THE ELECTRICAL UNIT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE CAR WILL LOSE POWER OR NOT START AT ALL SOMETIMES LIKE THE BATTERY IS DEAD, BUT THEN IT WILL WORK FINE 20 MINUTES LATER. ON OCCASIONS MY RENDEZVOUS WOULD MAKE A SPUTTERING SOUND WHEN I WOULD TURN IT OFF, THEN LIGHTS AND RADIO WOULD TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY, INSTEAD OF THE UPON OPENING THE DOOR. THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. DEALERS EXPLAINED NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE PROBLEM. ANTI LOCK BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON 3 DAYS AGO, IT WENT OUT THEN CAME BACK ON AGAIN. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE NORMALLY THIS MORNING AND DRIVING APPRX 2 1/2 MILES, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. IMMEDIATELY MY 2002 RENDEZVOUS DOORS LOCKS ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGING ITSELF IN THE UNLOCK MODE; THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH OR WITHOUT MANUAL CONTROL; THE LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY FLASHING; THE RADIO IS LOCKED OUT. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO START IT AT ALL. AFTER WAITING APPRX 30MINS AND REMOVING THE FUSE FOR THE DOOR LOCK IT STARTED. BUT ONCE THE FUSE IS PLACED BACK IN IT BEGIN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS THEN CHARGED $1000 PLUS A $400 RENTAL CAR BILL WHILE THEY "FIXED THE BRAKES." AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK IT WAS STILL "WHIRRING", TURNS OUT THE PROBLEM WAS A HUB BEARING FAILURE ON ALL FOUR TIRES.

BUICK RENDEVOUS - 2002REAR LIFTGATE CAN BE INADVERTENTLY OPENED BY DEPRESSING EITHER THE KEY FOB BUTTON OR THE DASH BOARD BUTTON WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK.THE CAR CAN BE PLACED IN DRIVE AND DRIVEN, AND THE DASH BOARD WARNING INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE, WARNING THE DRIVER THAT THE GATE IS AJAR. WHILE I HAVEN'T INVESTIGATED THIS, THE SENSOR IS PROBABLY A PLUNGER OR PRESSURE SENSOR. THE GATE IS HEAVY ENOUGH, EVEN WHEN UNLOCKED, THAT THE SENSOR DOES NOT ACTIVATE ON UNLOCKING. AS THE CAR IS DRIVEN, THE GATE MOVES AND THE SENSOR COMES ON. THERE IS A POSSIBLITY THAT A CAR'S LOAD OR PASSENGERS COULD BE EJECTED FROM THIS UNLOCKED LIFT GATE WHILE THE CAR IS IN OPERATION. WE HAVE INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED THE UNLOCKING MECHANISM THREE TIMES, HAVE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SECURED THE GATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. VEHICLE DRIVER-SIDE DOOR HINGE, AND DOOR AND FRONT BODY PANEL EDGES, WERE BENT BY ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF WIND PUSHING DOOR FORWARD. TWO ATTEMPTS BY DEALER TO RESET THE DOOR, INCLUDING A NEW HINGE, HAVE FAILED TO RETURN THE DOOR AND WINDOW TO ORIGINAL POSITION AGAINST THE DOOR SEAL, RESULTING IN A CONSTANT WIND NOISE WHICH IS VERY ANNOYING. HINGE OR DOOR FRAME TO WHICH IT IS ATTACHED APPEAR TO BE INSUFFICIENT IN STRENGTH. EVERY TIME THE DOOR IS OPENED FULLY THE HINGE CAN BE SEEN TO BEND AWAY FROM THE STRUCTURE TO WHICH IT IS ATTACHED IN THE DOOR FRAME. DOOR ALSO DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A "STOP" TO PREVENT REOCCURENCE OF THIS PROBLEM. GM DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A RETROFIT PROGRAM IN PLACE TO REPLACE THE HINGE OR DOOR FRAME.

THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FOR 45 MINUTES ON TWO-LANE PAVED COUNTRY ROADS. I DROVE THE FIRST 15 MINUTES, WITH ONE OF MY SONS DRIVING THE OTHER 30 MINUTES WHILE I WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. WE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND SWITCHED DRIVERS SO ANOTHER SON COULD BEGIN A DRIVING LESSON WITH ME. WHEN HE BEGAN TO BACK OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE HE SAID THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT FEEL RIGHT AND NOTICED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS STEAM COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I TOLD HIM TO PULL BACK INTO THE PARKING SPACE AND RELEASE THE HOOD SO I COULD CHECK FOR AN OVERHEATING ENGINE, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS IN THE CENTER OF THE VISIBLE RANGE. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD I SAW A SIX-INCH WIDE AREA OF FLAMES TO THE RIGHT OF THE ALTERNATOR. I TOLD MY SONS TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND ASKED ONE OF THEM TO CALL 911 ON HIS CELLPHONE AND THE OTHER TO GO TO THE NEAREST BUILDING, ABOUT 75 YARDS AWAY, AND LOOK FOR A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. IN THE MEANTIME, I OPENED THE REAR VEHICLE HATCH TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING I COULD USE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. FINDING NOTHING USEFUL, I RAN TO THE BUILDING MY FIRST SON HAD APPROACHED FOR A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND FOUND HIM INSIDE THE OUTER DOOR OF A LOCKED LOBBY AREA. WE BOTH RAN TO THE NEXT BUILDING ABOUT 100 YARDS AWAY WHERE WE LOCATED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE. I ESTIMATE THIS TOOK LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES. WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE THE FLAMES WERE ABOUT TWELVE INCHES WIDE, STILL ONLY TO THE RIGHT OF THE ALTERNATOR. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY PUT OUT THE FIRE, BUT HAD TO AIM MUCH DEEPER INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAN THE VISIBLE FLAME AREA TO STOP ALL FLAMES. WHEN THE DEALER LATER CHECKED THE VEHICLE I WAS TOLD IT APPEARED THAT A RUPTURED BRAKE LINE HAD SPRAYED BRAKE FLUID ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND STARTED THE FIRE. THERE HAD BEEN NO PRIOR LEAKS OR BRAKE ISSUES OBSERVED.

JUST WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FOLLOWING: TIE-ROD, RADIATOR, WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, HEAD GASKET, AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AGAIN. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 86,000 MILES ON IT TO DATE. THE ONLY THING THAT WE HAD THE BUICK DEALER WORK ON WAS THE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES, THE REST OF THE WORK WAS PERFORMED BY TIRE DEALERSHIP, RADIATOR SHOP, AND AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR GARAGE. NOW, THE ABS LIGHT IS ON AGAIN MEANING THAT ONE OF THE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES ARE OUT (REPLACED BY BUICK THEMSELVES) AND OUR ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING. AND, ALSO, THE AIR-BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE NOTICED QUITE A LONG LIST OF COMPLAINTS OVER THE INTERNET CONCERNING ALL THE ABOVE PROBLEMS OTHERS HAVE HAD AS WELL WITH THIS MODEL BUICK WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING PROBLEM OF WHICH BUICK WILL NOT DEAL WITH NOR STEP UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FLUSH DONE AND I THINK COOLANT FLUSH DONE - COST WAS $222. I HAD 3 ESTIMATES DONE FOR THE REST OF THE WORK AND THEY RANGED FROM $3,300, TO 1700 TO $1,380. IT COST ME $89 AND $73 FOR TWO OF THE ESTIMATES. HAD WORK DONE AT 4TH SHOP ON 4/20/06, COST ME $730. ON AUGUST 22, 2007, I HAD TO HAVE THE INTAKE GASKET DONE AGAIN AS WELL AS A COOLANT FLUSH; COST ME $492. ON AUGUST 11, 2009 I HAD TO HAVE THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH REPLACED AS IT WAS LEAKING PLUS OTHER WORK; TOTAL WAS $257. I WAS TOLD ABOUT A YEAR AGO THAT THE INTAKE GASKET WAS LEAKING OIL AND COOLANT AGAIN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE CAR DID NOT PASS INSPECTION IN JUNE, 2010; ONE OF THE PROBLEMS IS TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. IS THAT A RESULT OF THE DEXCOOL COOLANT CONTAMINATING THE TRANNY? 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE MONEY PIT. SEEMS THAT AS USUAL OUR LATEST EXPENSE (101,000) IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALLS, DUE TO THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SERIES OF MECHANICAL FAILURES ON MY VEHICLE SINCE THE YEAR I PURCHASED IT. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS 02/15/08 WHEREIN THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE CONSOLE BEGAN TO FLASH...ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT, CHANGE OIL, BATTERY-THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN APPROACHING 42MPH (THE CAR HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON 02/08/08). THIS OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY 680 SOUTHBOUND DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED REPEATEDLY FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO REMEDY MORE THAN FIVE TIMES. I NOW FEEL AT RISK AND FEEL THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON ME 08/30/07 IN TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT ON HIGHWAY 680 NORTHBOUND. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY FUEL FILTER. THE FILTER WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED ABOUT 3 OR 4 WEEKS LATER. THE DEALERSHIP AND GM TELL ME THAT SINCE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE PREVIOUS TIME I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR MECHANICAL FAILURE, MY HUSBAND PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FOR REPAIR AND HE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER PULLING OFF THE DELEARSHIP PROPERTY. ALL OF MY SERVICES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP. ALL OF MY MAINTENANCE IS CURRENT. THERE MUST BE SOME REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR THIS RECURRING PROBLEM, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER. ONE MORNING MY ON STAR SYSTEM HAD WATER DRIPPING FROM IT BUT NO WATER WAS FELT AROUND THE SUN ROOF AND THE WINDSHIELD SITS BELOW IT. THIS HAD BEEN GOING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR. NOW WITHIN THE PAST 6 MONTHS EVERYTHING ON THE CAR IS FAILING. MY DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WITH THE REMOTE. THIS IS A 300 MOTOR. MY COOLANT DISAPPEARS FROM RESERVE WITH NO SIGN OF LEAKING. I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND THE FIRST DAY OFF I HAD TO GO GET IT CHECKED IT WENT OFF. MY AC STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND NO AC IN 100 WEATHER SUXS. HAD IT CHARGED AND WITHIN 2 WEEKS BACK TO NO AC NOW AFTER WEEKS OF RESEARCH I AM FINDING OUT THAT THE INTAKE GASKETS ON THIS MOTOR ARE MADE FROM NYLON AND THE DEX COOL THAT IS SAID TO BE USED IN IT CAN EAT THEM PREMATURELY. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE MY CAR WAS OVER HEATING. THE AC CONDENSER IS ALSO KNOWN TO GO OUT REGULAR. I JUST BOUGHT BRAND NEW TIRES IN MAY AND HAD THE ALIGNMENT DONE. I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT OF MY CAR HAS BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE FRONT LEFT TIRE IS ATE UP. I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS THE BEARING PROBLEM THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FORCING GM TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE. MY RESEARCH HAS FOUND HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF THESE PROBLEMS. I AM HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. FIRST, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS, WINDOWS, AIR CONDITIONER, RADIO AND REMOTE KEYS ENTRY WOULD LOCK. THEN YESTERDAY THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. SOMEHOW I MANAGED TO TURN A CORNER (WITHOUT POWER STEERING) AND PARK THE VEHICLE. THREE SAFETY RELATED ISSUES WITH MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS CXL. THE ABS SENSORS FAILED WHICH WAS A DIFFICULT PROBLEM TO DIAGNOSE AS THE PROBLEM WAS ACTUALLY CAUSED BY WATER IN THE INSULATION TO THE SENSOR WIRING HARNESSES. I'M NOW BEING NOTIFIED OF A FRONT WHEEL BEARING PROBLEM THAT HAS NOT YET REACHED A FORMAL RECALL. SECOND ISSUE INVOLVES THE AWD REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY (DIFFERENTIAL). MOANING NOISES START IN THE REAR END, IN LOW SPEED TURNS SUCH AS PARKING LOT MANEUVERS. OCCURRENCE INCREASES IN SEVERITY AND FREQUENCY FAIRLY QUICKLY. THE REAR AXLE IS TO BE REPLACED BY THE DEALER UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. BUT I NOTICE THAT THIS IS NOT A RANDOM OR UNUSUAL PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR/MODEL BUICK. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER THE OTHER DAY TO HAVE THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING REPLACE (PAID FOR BY GM) AND IN THE PROCESS, THE MECHANIC FOUND ANOTHER SERIOUS PROBLEM. I HAD BEEN HEARING A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. I JACKED THE REAR END OF THE CAR UP AND COULDN'T FIND THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT IT IS THE RIGHT REAR KNUCKLE THAT WAS MAKING THE NOISE. WHEN THEY GOT IT ON THE RACK, THEY FOUND THAT THE TIRE IS MOVING FRONT TO BACK ABOUT 2 INCHES. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT I WILL NEED TO GET IT FIXED ASAP AT A COST OF ABOUT $750. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER MECHANIC TO GET A SECOND OPINION. I GOT THE SAME DIAGNOSIS FROM THE SECOND MECHANIC WITH THE ADDITION OF "WE'VE NEVER SEEN ONE OF THESE GO BAD. YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO REPLACE THIS PART" THEY WENT ON TO SAY THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO DO THIS WORK BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY LABOR INTENSIVE AND NOT THEIR SPECIALTY. AT APPROX 20,000 MILES MY AIR CONDITIONER UNIT WENT BAD. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE CONDENSER. AT APPROX 23,000 MILES MY RADIO WILL STAY ON AFTER WE EXITED THE CAR AND WOULD DRAIN OUR BATTERY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. THEY REGROUNDED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES SAME ISSUE RETURNED AND DIDN'T BOTHER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. AT APPROX 30,000 MILES WE WERE GETTING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT DEALER DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS AIR IN THE FUEL TANK. HAD SAME ISSUES FOR A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT DIDN'T BOTHER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. AT APPROX 45,000 -50,00 THE COMPUTER UNIT WENT BAD. THE SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND FUEL GAUGE WAS GOING HAYWIRE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER UNIT AND AT THE SAME TIME THEY FOUND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET WAS BAD. THEY WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED IT. AT APPROX 50,00 - 52,000 THE KEY CYLINDER WENT BAD. I COULDN'T PUT IN THE IGNITION KEY AND HAD TO TOW THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER. I NEVER HAD THOSE PROBLEMS WITH PREVIOUS VEHICLES. NOW AT APPROX 57,500 MILES THERE IS A NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE'S NO NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE IDLES WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED. WHEN THE TRUCK STARTS SPEEDING UP YOU HEAR A HUM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FASTER YOU GO THE LOUDER IT GETS. IT ALSO GETS LOUDER IF YOU STEER TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG. THE PROBLEM IS THAT AFTER YOU GET THE CAR FIXED, THERE'S ALWAYS SOME OTHER THINGS GOING BAD. ONCE AFTER ANOTHER. I OWN A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE FOR ME SINCE THE GET GO (2004). I HAVE NUMEROUS AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS THAT ARE GOING ON WITH MY VEHICLE AS OTHER OWNERS. THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS GO OFF WITH OUT WARNING AND FOR NO REASON FOR SOMETIMES UP TO A MINUTE (AND THIS HAS HAPPENED AT NIGHTIME) "MAJOR SAFTEY ISSUE" NO ONE CAN TELL US WHY THE VEHICLE DOES THIS. MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A FATAL ACCIDENT ON JULY 2, 2006. SHE WAS A PROMISING MICRO-BIOLOGIST WHOM WORKED ON CURES FOR OVARIAN CANCER. SHE WAS RAN OFF A ROAD BY ANOTHER DRIVER AND SENT INTO A LINE OF TREES IN OUR BUICK RENDEZVOUS (2002 CX). THE DRIVER-SIDE HEADLIGHT MADE DIRECT CONTACT WITH ONE TREE AND THE FORCE OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ALLOWING IT TO BE "RIPPED" OFF THE HINGES. THEREBY, EXPOSING HER TO THE NATURAL ELEMENTS AND MAKING HER VULNERABLE TO STRIKE A SECOND TREE THAT BROKE EVERY BONE IN HER FACE AND KILLED HER. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE WHEN THE 2002 RENDEZVOUS WAS TESTED, IT RECEIVED 3 TO 4 STARS AND THE CONSISTENT PROBLEM THAT AROSE, BASED UPON THE ARTICLE THAT I READ, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OPENS DURING AN OFFSET FRONTAL ACCIDENT. WE WERE NEVER SENT ANY INFORMATION WHERE BUICK WAS LOOKING INTO THIS DEFECT AND IT ONLY HAD A RECALL ON THE REAR HATCH THAT WE HAD TO HAVE FIXED IN 2003. UNACCEPTABLE FOR CONDENSER TO FAIL WITH JUST 3 YEARS OF LIGHT USE. ALSO, HAD TO REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO GET RID OF ERROR - TOOK A WEEK TO SHIP THE ERROR PANEL TO FACTORY SO THEY COULD READ MILEAGE AND SET ON A NEW PANEL TO SHIP BACK TO THE DEALER. LUCKILY I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT I STILL HAVE A 75 DEDUCTABLE FOR EVERY REPAIR AND RENTAL VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED.

RIGHT FRONT ABS SYSTEM CODE. REPLACED ABS SENSOR AND HUB ASSEMBLY. DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM IN SOME VEHICLES. IT MAY BE A WIRING PROBLEM.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER COMPLAINING OF A RUBBING/CLUNKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE EXHAUST WAS BENT AND WAS RUBBING ON THE DRIVESHAFT. DEALER REPLACED COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND DRIVESHAFT. I WAS TOLD THIS COULD ONLY HAVE HAPPENED DUE TO REAR END IMPACT. NO IMPACT OCCURRED THAT I AM AWARE OF AND NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF REAR END DAMAGE. THEY SUSPECT DESIGN/SAFETY DEFECT AND ASKED THE DEALER TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE DRIVE SHAFT. DEALER SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN ONE OTHER TIME. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE

MY WIFE HAD A FLAT TIRE AND DESTROYED THE TIRE ON THE HIGHWAY. WE WERE SOLD THE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM WITH THE CXL. IT IS ALSO CIRCLED IN OUR BROCHURE FROM THE SALESMAN. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THE SYSTEM AND GM IS BLOWING US OFF! THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING. *AK ALSO, THIS YEAR, BOTH REAR AXLE HUBS HAVE GONE BAD AS WELL AS PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR DRIVE MODULE.

THE CONSUMER STATED THE HORN WOULD BLOW AND THE RADIO WOULD COME ON FOR NO REASON. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION; HOWEVER THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY FIXED THE MODULE THE SAME DAY. THERE HAS BEEN NO OTHER PROBLEM. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE IS IN SECURITY MODE. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE WINDOWS AND THE REAR DOORS. *SC THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE FLOOR MATS WERE DISCOLORED , IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE AIR CONDITION SYSTEM HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THERE WAS A SCREECHING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE LEFT FRONT HUB AND BEARING WAS REPLACED THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED.*JB

WHEN DRIVING 55 MPH REAR RIGHT TIRE BLEWOUT. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO PULL OF THE ROAD AND CHANGE THE TIRE. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TIRE LOOKED LIKE IT JUST MELTED ,AND THERE WERE NO OBJECTS AND THE ROAD. THIS WAS A FIRESTONE TIRE. *AK THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT FLOOR MAT WAS WET. THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE A/C EVAPORATOR DRAIN WAS CLOGGED DUE TO LEAVES COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD COWLING. THE DEALER CLEANED THE DRAIN AND REMOVED THE LEAVES. THE LEFT FRONT HUB AND BEARING HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY AND WERE NOISY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE TROUBLE CODES INDICATED THAT THE GAS CAP MAY HAVE BEEN LOOSE. THE VEHICLE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT CAUSED THE SECURITY LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON, THE A/C NOT TO WORK AND AT NIGHT THE HORN WOULD SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. AFTER THE CONSUMER LOCKED THE DOOR THE VEHICLE RADIO WOULD COME ON. THIS CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED. *NM

PURCHASED 3/1/04 AND GOT A FREE OIL CHANGE IN MAIL BECAUSE IT WAS SOLD TO ME WHEN IT ALREADY NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. I HAD TO KEEP ADDING OIL. I CALLED BECAUSE SALESPERSON SAID HE HAD TO BE THERE WHEN THEY FIXED SEVERAL THINGS ON IT. 1ST TIME, I SAT 3 HRS TO GET IT FIXED. 2ND TIME AFTER 2 MESSAGES TO SALESMAN W/O RESPONSE, I CALLED AND TOOK IT TO GET FIXED AGAIN. 3RD TIME I TOOK IT DOWN THERE TO SHOW THEM THE RESULTS OF OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THEY DIDN'T FIX MY WINDSHIELD LEAK AGAIN, MY AIR QUIT WORKING WHEN I GOT IT BACK AFTER 2ND TIME. THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO HAVE ENGINE TORE DOWN AND PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE FOR THE 2ND TIME IN A MONTH. I AM A FULL TIME STUDENT AND APPRAISER. MY CAR IS MY LIVELIHOOD AND I AM LOOSING ALOT OF MONEY. I HAVE HAD MY BUICK RENDEZVOUS BACK FOR THE SAME PROBLEM 4 TIMES. THE FUEL INJECTORS ARE BAD NOT FIRING CORRECTLY. FUEL LINE PROBLEMS FUEL RUNNING LEAN. I HAD TO HAVE THE AIR CONDITION FIX NOT FOR BLOWING. COLD AIR CONDENSER LEAKING. I HAD TO HAVE THE BLOWER MOTOR REPLACED. WINDSHIELD WASHER FREEZING UP. INTERNAL FAILURE R &R CENTER CONSOLE REPLACED. FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS DEFECT TWICE IN SIX MONTHS. (CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TWICE IN ONE YEAR ON A NEW CAR. I ONLY DO HIGHWAY DRIVING LIVE IN NY AND WORK IN CT. I WAS TOLD PART (HUB KIT 6.307 R )ON BACK ORDER FOR AT LEAST THREE WEEKS. I COULD NOT BE WITHOUT A CAR FOR THREE WEEKS NOR COULD I RENT A CAR FOR THREE WEEKS. SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO FIXED IT IN ONE DAY.

ON FOUR PRIOR OCCASIONS FOR SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE / STALLING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION, THIS CREATES A MAJOR HAZARD TO SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP AND GENERAL MOTORS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ISOLATE / REPLICATE AND EFFECT REPAIRS FOR THIS INTERMITTENT NONCONFORMITY, YET THEY HAVE EXPECT US TO CONTINUE OPERATING THE VEHICLE WHILE THEY KNOWINGLY HAVE FAILED TO EFFECT REPAIR. MY WIFE AND I ARE AFRAID TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE IN ITS CONDITION AND JEOPARDIZE OUR SAFETY BY OPERATING A VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE FOR HIGHWAY OPERATION. INFORMED, WILL NOT PUT OUT MORE HEAT. DRIVING IN COLD WEATHER A BLANKET IS USED. SOME TIMES TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT A BLAST OF HOT AIR COMES OUT OF VENTS. MORE HOT AIR COMES OUT OF TOP VENTS THAN FLOOR VENTS. BOTH DEALERS TESTED CAR AND INFORMED IT WAS WORKING TO FACTORY SPECS. WE HAVE ASKED TO HAVE THE BUICK AREA REPRESENTIVE CONTACT US ON THIS MATTER. THIS CAR PURCHASED NEW 12-20-2002 , CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 1600 MILES. DEALER SAID WAIT UNTIL THE WEATHER GOT WARMER AND IT WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. CALLED MAIN NUMBER AGAIN NOW TALKING TO ELISA ORTIZ @ 1-866-942-4368 X48335 SHE SAID SHE WOULD TAKE OVER THE CASE. THE CAR IS NOT ENJOYABLE TO DRIVE IS A HAZARD AS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DOES NOT GET ADEQUATE HEAT FOR DEFROSTING WINDOWS AND HEAT THE PASSENGERS. I TOLD DOBLES THAT WE WOULD CLAIM IT UNDER A LEMON LAW THEY INFORMED US THAT BEING THEY DO NOT FIND A PROBLEM THAT OUR CASE WOULD BE WEAK AND WOULD PERHAPS BE THROWN OUT. EVERY PERSON THAT HAS BEEN IN THIS CAR IN THE COLD WEATHER COMPLAINS IT IS TOO COLD. CAN NOT FEEL SAFE IN CAR IN COLD FREEZING WEATHER AS THE WINDOWS ICE UP. OUR FAMILY OWNS CHEV 2001 SILVERADO, A 1997 CHEV CONVERSION VAN, 1997 CADY- CATERA . ALL OF THE OTHER CARS WILL PROVIDE ENOUGH HEAT FOR DEFROST AND PASSENGERS. THIS WILL NOT. IS THE BURDEN OF PROOF ON US BECAUSE THE FACTORY SAYS IT IS NORMAL? WE INITIALLY LIKED THE CAR AND ALL WE ASKED IS FOR A RESOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATION AND THEY SAID BUICK SHOULD LOOK AT CONNECTIONS IN THE "AIR CONNECTION BOX".
