ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR THREE WEEKS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO STATED THAT ECM VALVE NEEDED REPLACING. *AK CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. THE DEALER GAVE CONSUMER 175 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, WHICH WAS NOT ENOUGH ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THE LONGER THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN WITH OUT HAVING THE PART REPLACED, THE ROUGHER THE VEHICLE WILL RUN. THE VEHICLE KNOCKS AND WHEN TURNING THE TRANSMISSION MAKES NOISES. *JG

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 CHEVROLET CAMARO. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING IN HER VEHICLE. SHE DROVE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS MISROUTED, WHICH CAUSED IT TO STRIKE THE AIR PRESSURE EXHAUST AREA, BURN, AND LEAK FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 93V199000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS); THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. WHEN IT'S BEEN RAINING THE BRAKES DON'T FUNCTION VERY WELL! I HAVE LITERALLY STOOD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HAD TROUBLE STOPPING THE CAR! THE TIRES AREN'T LOCKING UP, SO IT'S NOT AN ABS PROBLEM! I KNOW OF SEVERAL OTHERS WHO HAVE ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS! A LOT OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM WITH EITHER AN AFTERMARKET SYSTEM OR BY USING THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM OFF OF THE 1998 AND NEWER CAMARO. ALL HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASE WITH THE RESULTS! FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH THE BRAKES DON'T WORK THAT WELL WHEN THERE ISN'T ANY RAIN! THE AIR BAG IN MY CAMARO DEPLOYED AT THE SPEED OF 20 MPH COMING OUT AT 200 MILES PER HOUR; 2,000 LBS. OF PRESSURE PER SQUARE INCH AND THE FORCE OF A 12-GUAGE-SHOTGUN BLAST (ACCORDING TO YOUR WEBSITE AND OTHER RESEARCH- WHICH I HAVE A FULL OUTLINE ON, COMPLETE WITH SOURCES) IN MY FACE. HAD THE AIR BAG NEVER DEPLOYED, I WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE, WHERE THE SHOULDER HARNESS AND/OR SEATBELT WOULD HAVE MORE THAN SUFFICED. THE WARNING POSTED ON THE DASH AND STEERING WHEEL OR VISOR IS FOR CHILDREN UNDER 12; HOWEVER, I STAND 61 INCHES IS TALL AND 112 POUNDS; THE AVERAGE 12-YEAR OLD IS ABOUT THIS SIZE. THERE IS NO WARNING FOR SMALL WOMEN. THE AIR BAG CAUSED A FRONTAL LOBE INJURY, (I WAS UNCONSCIOUS FOR 45 MINUTES) A BROKEN NOSE, ABRASIONS ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE, RUPTURED TWO DISCS IN MY NECK (C5 AND C6) AND FURTHER INJURING MY SPINAL CORD (MYLEOMALACIA). THE RUPTURED DISCS IN MY NECK ARE PRESSING INWARDS AGAINST MY SPINAL CORD, AND THE RESULTING SPINAL CORD AND NERVE COMPRESSION ARE AFFECTING PRIMARILY MY HANDS, AS WELL AS MY NECK, LEFT SHOULDER, SHOULDER BLADE AND LEG MOVEMENTS. THE PAIN IS HORRENDOUS-THE NERVE PAIN. THIS COST ME MY CAREER AS A LEGAL SECRETARY OF 23 YEARS BECAUSE THE NERVES THAT ARE AFFECTED ARE PRIMARILY IN MY HANDS. I HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY OR I MIGHT PICK UP A SUITCASE ONE DAY AND PARALYZE MYSELF, ACCORDING TO MY NEUROLOGIST. I HAVE APPLIED FOR DISABILITY AND AWAITING THE ROUND OF APPEALS AS IT ALWAYS GOES HERE IN TEXAS. I AM NOT MARRIED AND HAD NO OTHER RESOURCES. I LOST MY CAR, MY HOUSE AND MY HEALTH DUE TO THIS AIR BAG. THERE ARE TWO ISSUES HERE: 1) THE SENSITIVITY OF THE AIR BAG; THE SPEED AT WHICH IT HIT ME AND THE SUBSEQUENT PERMANENT INJURIES; AND 2) THE LAW THAT STILL SAYS IF YOU HIT SOMEONE IN THE REAR, IT IS AUTOMATICALLY YOUR FAULT. BOTH AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY CALLED ME BACK THE NEXT DAY TO SAY THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE THAT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY SO THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME. AFTER THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE WHILE RUNNING WHICH IT WAS NOT MAKING PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. CHEVY SAID THAT I HAD HIT SOMETHING VERY HARD AND IT BENT THE FRAME ON THE UNDERNEATH OF THE CAR WHICH INTERN CAUSED THE LOUD NOISE. MY PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT THE CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECT PRIOR TO THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO NOISE WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING. ALSO, THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE AT ALL. THE PERSON AT DON MEALY CHEVROLET IN ORLANDO, FL THAT INSPECTED MY CAR SAID THAT I PROBABLY HIT SOMETHING PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THAT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO BE ACTIVATED AND AFTER THAT POINT SOMETHING AS LITTLE AS GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP COULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS THAT IF THE DAMAGE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE IS WHAT CAUSED THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, AND IF THE NOISE THAT THE VEHICLE IS MAKING NOW AFTER THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IS FROM THIS DAMAGE THAT SUPPOSEDLY HAPPENED SOMETIME PRIOR TO THIS IS THE CAUSE OF THE LOUD NOISE THE CAR IS PRODUCING, WHY WAS THE CAR RUNNING PERFECT PRIOR TO THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYING FOR NO REASON? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO, IF ANYTHING? I DO NOT HAVE AN ESTIMATE ON THE DAMAGE YET BECAUSE CHEVY WOULD NOT TELL THE ESTIMATED COST OF DAMAGE UNLESS I SIGNED A RELEASE FOR THEM TO FIX THE VEHICLE, BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE DAMAGE IS EXTENSIVE.

I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND HAVE ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IN HOMEWOOD IL TO ASSIST ME IN THE REPAIRS AS THE REPAIRS WERE $1,700.00. I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES OR 6 YEARS. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND GMC ARE AWARE THE THIS YEAR AND MODEL CAR HAS THIS ENGINE PROBLEM AND ARE NOT WILLING TO CORRECT THEM CAUSING THE OWNERS TO REPAIR THE ISSUE AND PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I HAVE A CHEVROLET CAMARO Z28 1994, QUITE OFTEN THE ABS INOPERABLE LIGHT COMES ON, MEANING THE ABS OR ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IN WHICH THE SEVERITY OF THE ABS OPERATING IS CRUCIAL TO PREVENTING ACCIDENTS. IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, AT ANY GIVEN SPEED AND IT TERRIFIES ME WHEN I SEE IT. I AM UNAWARE OF WHAT BECAUSE OF THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE IS. I ALSO OWNED A PONTIAC FIREBIRD 1997 THAT HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, MOREOVER THESE TWO CARS ARE BASICALLY THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE BODY. THIS IS A GM PROBLEM IN LIEU OF BOTH CARS BEING MADE BY GM.
