I OWN A 1999 CHEVY TAHOE THAT I HAD CALLED THE CHEVY SERVICE CENTER ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BRAKING ON THE VEHICLE. AT THAT TIME THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR OTHER COMPLAINTS ON FILE. I NOW READ ABOUT A RECALL THAT EXPLAINS THE SAME PROBLEMS I'VE HAD WITH MY VEHICLE SO I CALLED THE CHEVY SERVICE LINE AGAIN AND GAVE THEM THE FILE NUMBER THAT THEY GAVE ME WHEN I CALLED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THEY DO NOT HAVE RECORD OF MY CALL OR FILE NUMBER ANY MORE. CHEVY TOLD ME BECAUSE I LIVE IN COLORADO INSTEAD OF ONE OF THE STATES THAT THE RECALL IS FOR, THAT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD CALLED YEARS AGO TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND DESCRIBED TO THEM WHAT THEY ARE NOW RECALLING OTHER VEHICLES FOR, ONLY IN DIFFERENT STATES. *JB

I PURCHASED A 1999 TAHOE USED IN 2001 FORM AN INDIVIDUAL. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING IT I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE UNWANTED ANTILOCK ACTIVATION. ON MANY OCCASIONS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE AUTOMOBILE I HAVE EXPERIENCED UNWANTED ANTILOCK ACTIVATION WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I CAN NOT TELL YOU THE NUMBER OF TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED BECAUSE IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME I TRY TO STOP THE CAR. I HAVE NOT, AS OF YET, BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ALTHOUGH, I HAVE HAD MANY VERY CLOSE CALLS. I RECENTLY HEARD OF THE RECALL IN THE "SALT BELT" STATES AND WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT I LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY TAHOE. I HAVE REPEATEDLY HAD MY TAHOE IN THE SHOP TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED. I ALSO OWN A 2005 GMC PICKUP WITH ANTILOCK BRAKES AND DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH IT. *NM

VERY BAD SHIMMY AND SHAKE WHEN BRAKING, ALSO WHEN TRYING TO SPPED UP FROM A DEAD STOP OR OTHERWISE CAR PULLS BACK, OR STUMBLES. AT ABOUT 45000 MILES A VALVE BROKE INTO THREE PIECES. HAD HEADS REPLACED. BRAKES AND STUMBLING IS REOCCURING BRAKES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 99 AND STUMBLE SINCE EARLY 2004. SPEAKERS LOCATED IN THE BACK SEAT PANELS ALSO KEEP BLOWING OUT.*AK

THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THE CONTACT IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FROM GENERAL MOTORS. THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAR END. THE MECHANIC BROKE DOWN THE REAR END AND FOUND THAT THE AXLE BEARINGS SHOWED VERY UNUSUAL WEAR PATTERNS THAT WERE NOT NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE WITH LITTLE MILEAGE. (REPLACED THE AXLE BEARINGS/SEALS, FRONT/REAR PINION BEARINGS, AND THE DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER BEARINGS) THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE PREMATURE WEAR OF THE AXLE IS AN INDICATION OF THIS BEING A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT. *SCC

NOTICED REAREND NOISE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TURNED VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. BAD PINON SEAL WAS CAUSE OF REAREND TO LEAK FLUID. WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURED NOW 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 14 MONTHS. TWICE THE ENTIRE REAREND HAD TO BE REBUILT WITH NEW GEARS, BEARINGS, AND SEALS. AGAIN ALL 5 CAUSES WERE THE PINON SEAL LEAKING AND CAUSING LOSS OF FLUID IN THE REAREND. RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT FENDERS ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE FRAME UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS ASKED TO REATTACH THE RIGHT FENDER. THEY DID ATTACH IT, HOWEVER IT NOW STICKS OUT. UPON RETURNING TO THE DEALERSHIP WE REQUESTED THEY REATTACH THE FENDER SO THAT IT IS NO LONGER STICKING OUT. WE ALSO REQUESTED THAT THEY CHECK THE LEFT FENDER AS WE HAD NOTICED IT TO BE LOOSE AS WELL. THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP HAD CHECKED THE FENDERS AND SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRENTY AND IT APPEARS THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN BOTTOMED OUT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN BOTTOMED OUT AND SHOWED NO SIGNS OF SUCH ON THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT DOES NOT FULLY ENGAGE, BUT APPEARS TO BE FASTENED PROPERLY. I HAVE HAD MANY DIFFERENT OCCASIONS (MORE THAN 10) IN WHICH I FASTENED MY SEATBELT AND BEGAN TO DRIVE AWAY AND THE SEATBELT POPPED OUT OF THE RECEIVER, OR EVEN ARRIVING AT MY LOCATION, AND BEFORE I UN-SNAPPED MY SEATBELT, IT CAME LOOSE FROM THE RECEIVER. THE SEATBELT LIGHT WAS NOT ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING, BUT THE SEATBELT APPARENTLY WAS NOT ENGAGED PROPERLY.

WHEN REFUELING THE CAR, GAS WILL SPILL OUT WHILE FILLING THE TANK. THERE IS SOME KIND OF ISSUE WITH VENTING OF THE GAS TANK WHEN REFUELING. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CAR RUNS FINE. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALLS OR TSB'S FOR THIS ISSUE, AND THE TECH I SPOKE WITH SAID HE HAS NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. I HAVE DONE SEARCHES ON CAMARO RELATED TECHNICAL WEB SITES AND ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CAMARO, FIREBIRD AND TRANSAM COMMUNITY, BUT DIDN'T FIND A RESOLUTION. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *TR

WINDSHIELD WIPERS INTERMITTENTLY STOPPED OPERATING WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN. THIS CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER AND MANY COMPLAINTS, THE WIPER MOTOR WAS REPLACED, AND THE WIPERS FAILED AGAIN. THE WIPER STALK WAS REPLACED AND REPAIRED AND THE WIPERS FAILED AGAIN. THE MOTOR WAS AGAIN REPLACED TWO MORE TIMES. THEY CURRENTLY ARE WORKING, BUT I EXPECT THEM TO FAIL AGAIN SOON.

THIS IS A TOXIC CAR. IT HAS A MOLD PROBLEM AND IS MAKING ME SICK. THE CAR SMELLS LIKE MOLD. WE PULLED OUT ALL THE SEATS AND CARPET CLEANED EVERYTHING TO TRY TO GET IT OUT. IT STILL SMELLS LIKE MOLD. IT IS NOT THE HEATER OR AC AS THE SMELL IS COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO DAMPNESS BUT EVERYTHING I PUT IN THE BACK SEAT ENDS UP SMELLING LIKE MOLD. I CALL IT THE MOLD MOBILE. AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES, YOU CAN'T SMELL THE MOLD, SO IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TRACK. THE DEALERSHIP IN WALDORF SAID IT WOULD TAKE DAYS TO LOCATE IT, BUT THEY COULD SMELL IT TOO. IT IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE MUST BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS. IT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH AND I GET HEADACHES. *NLM

ENGINE STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY VOLT GAUGE DROPS BELOW 13. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME I COME TO A RED LIGHT, BUT IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY ENOUGH. I HAVE A 1999 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS. THIS IS THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 60,000+ MILES ON IT AND IT WON'T BE PAID OFF UNTIL 2007 I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A MANIFOLD GASKET, BATTERY, WATER PUMP, I HAVE HAD TO PUT A USED TRANSMISSION IN. YOU CAN NOT CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID BECAUSE THERE IS NO DIP STICK YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A PROFESSIONAL TO HAVE THAT DONE. THE AIR CONDITIONER COMES ON OFF WHENEVER, WHEN YOU PUT GAS IN THE CAR YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT GAS BEFORE IT WILL STAY RUNNING. I HAVE HAD BEARINGS REPLACED IN BOTH FRONT WHEELS, TIRES KEEP GOING BAD AS DO THE THE BRAKES. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE VERY SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE CARS AND NOT ONE RECALL HAS BEEN MADE. I WILL NEVER NEVER BUY A CHEVROLET AGAIN LET ALONE A MALIBU. MY NEXT CAR WILL BE A HONDA. I AM STILL TAKING THE CAR BACK FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THIS WILL BE THE 4TH TIME IN LESS THAN A WEEK. NOT ONLY IS IT STILL LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT NOW I CONVEINTLY HAVE A COOLANT LEAK THAT I DID NOT HAVE UNTIL THE 3RD TIME OF TAKING IT BACK TO THE CHEVY GARAGE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK FIXED. THE VEHICLE JERKED BACKWARDS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. ALSO, THE VEHICLE JERKED WHEN AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTING GEARS. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK A TRANSMISSION KIT WAS ADDED BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TO DRIVE IN OVERDRIVE WHEN TRAVELING LONG DISTANCE BUT THIS DID NOT WORK. THE BRAKES WERE NOISY, THE REAR COIL SPRING WERE RUBBING WHEN STOPPING, THE WATER PUMP AND INTAKE GASKETS LEAKED, THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED DUE TO THE ENGINE NOT STARTING ON ONE OCCASION, AND THERE WAS A 3-4 SECOND VALVE BINDING. *SC

DRIVING ALONG HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY MY CAR BEGINS TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL. ACCELERATION IS STUCK, I CAN'T STOP THE CAR OTHER THAN BY RIDING THE BRAKES OR TURNING ENGINE OFF. I REACH SPEEDS UP TO 90 MILES AN HOUR. WHEN I CUT THE ENGINE OFF, IT CAUSES LOSS OF POWER, BUT LUCKILY NOT STEERING. TURN ENGINE BACK ON AND ENGINE REDLINES (CLUTCH LET OUT). I POP CLUTCH BACK IN AND CAR BEGINS TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. TURN HAZARDS ON, COP THEN PULLS UP BEHIND ME TELLING ME TO PULL OVER. FEAR AND ANXIETY COMPOUNDED, BUT CAR STILL WILL NOT WORK. I CUT THE ENGINE AND HIGHWAY PATROL GUIDES ME OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. COP IS FORCED TO PUSH MY CAR SINCE IT CANNOT CONTINUE ON ITS OWN. CAR TOWED IN AND DEALER SAID A ROCK WAS WEDGED ON THE THROTTLE RETURN SPRING CAUSING THROTTLE TO BE WIDE OPEN. ROCK WAS REMOVED AND DEALER SAYS CAR IS FUNCTIONING. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS WITH HOW THE ROCK EVER GOT THERE. THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING, EVEN AT 1 IN A MILLION CHANCE. I KNOW MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY PASSENGER WERE IN DANGER. COP COULD PROBABLY ATTEST TO THAT AS WELL. *AK

I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE NEW 7 MONTHS AGO. NOW THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS GETTING WORSE. THE FRONT-END, STEERING WHEEL, SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES DURING NORMAL DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PROBLEM 3 DAYS AGO, AND THE SERVICE MAN TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY WARPED FRONT ROTORS SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY. I WENT IN AND THE SERVICE MAN (A DIFFERENT ONE) TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIX IT, BUT THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS WHAT UPSETS ME MOST. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, SO WHY DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ROTORS TO BE FIXED? THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 1998 AND NEWER CAMARO'S AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY. *AK
