TAKATA RECALL. SERVICE AIR BAG FOR PASSENGER SEAT IS ON AND AIR BAG IS OFF. BEGAN WHILE STATIONARY WITH PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THIS VEHICLE HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT. UNACCEPTABLE THAT IT IS NOT UNDER RECALL.

THE AIRBAG LIGHT SAYS 'OFF' WHEN THERE IS AN ADULT PASSENGER RIDING IN THE SEAT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF FOR OVER A YEAR. THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS CRACKING AROUND THE AIRBAG. THE CRACK IS OUTLINING THE SPACE WHERE THE AIRBAG WOULD POP OUT FROM. IT APPEARS UNSAFE AS IF IT'S FAULTY AND COULD INITIATE AT ANY MINUTE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT LOOKS AS IF OTHER MODELS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I'VE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS MODEL BUT NO RECALLS ARE SHOWN. THERE ARE OTHER 2009 GMS THAT HAVE RECALLS ISSUED.

THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS CRACKING AROUND THE AIRBAG. THE CRACK IS OUTLINING THE SPACE WHERE THE AIRBAG WOULD POP OUT FROM. IT APPEARS UNSAFE AS IF ITS FAULTY AND COULD INITIATE AT ANY MINUTE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT LOOKS AS IF OTHER MODELS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I'M REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I SAW AN EXPOSE ON THE TAKATA AIRBAGS AND GM WAS MENTIONED. I'VE SEEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS MODEL BUT NO RECALLS ARE SHOWN. THERE ARE OTHER 2009 GMS THAT HAVE RECALLS ISSUED. A BODY SHOP TOLD US WE SHOULD CONTACT THE DEALER FOR AN ESTIMATE BECAUSE THERE WERE RECALLS ON THEIR AIRBAGS BUT THE DEALER SAID THERE ARE NONE. I'M TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A FREE ESTIMATE AFTER NOTIFYING THEM THE CRACK HAS BEEN DEVELOPING FOR SOME TIME AND WE'VE BEEN WAITING ON A RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER (DICK SHIRLEY CHEVROLET AT (336) 792-1922, LOCATED AT 2616 ALAMANCE RD, BURLINGTON, NC 27215) AND WAS ADVISED TO PLACE WD-40 ON THE IGNITION SWITCH TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE CONTACT DID AS ADVISED AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

IN 2015, I TOOK MY CAR TO MONUMENT CHEVROLET AND TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY CAR IS NOT UNLOCKING THE DOORS WHEN I AM USING THE REMOTE. I HAD TO USE MY KEY TO UNLOCK MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR MANUALLY AND THE REACH OVER TO UNLOCK THE OTHER DOORS. BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP EVEN RAN A DIAGNOSIS TEST, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY LOCK MECHANISM AND IT WAS GOING TO COST ME $300.00 PER DOOR TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I DECLINE AND TOLD THEM I WILL DO IT THE OLD FASHION WAY BY USING THE KEY. IT LOOKS AND SEEMS LIKE THE DEALERSHIP KNEW THERE WAS A EXISTING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AS QUICKLY AS THEY QUOTED ME A PRICE WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE PROBLEM AND THAT THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE MALFUNCTION. NOW ITS OVER A YEAR AND I STILL HAVE TO UNLOCK MY CAR THE OLD FASHION WAY EVEN AFTER I CHANGED THE BATTERY IN THE REMOTE.

HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR ELECTRIC WINDOW AND DOOR LOCKS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY OR NOT AT ALL. I HAVE SOMEKNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SO I STARTED TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM. AFTER 5 MINUTES I FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM TO BE COMPLETELY BROKEN WIRES THAT ARE PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS RIGHT BEFORE IT GOES THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND PROTECTED BY A RUBBER BOOT/SLEEVE . ALMOST ALL WIRES THAT ARE PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS AT THIS LOCATION WERE EITHER BROKEN AS I MENTIONED OR THE INSULATION WAS SO BRIDLE AND CRACKED THAT THE COPPER WIRE STRANDS WERE EXPOSED. THIS IS IN A TIGHT SPOT AND WOULD BE HARD TO SPLICE. I TOOK A PICTURE TO SUPPORT WHAT I AM WRITING AND I'VE ATTACHED IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD IF THE EXPOSED WIRES EVER COME IN CONTACT WITH CHASSIS GROUND.

OUR VEHICLE'S RADIO BEGAN TO NOT SHUT OFF AFTER THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS OPENED, AND THE KEYS WERE OUT OF THE IGNITION. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS CONVINCED THAT IT WAS EITHER THE DOOR SWITCH OR THE RADIO. HAVING A MAJOR GUARD PROTECTION PLAN, THE RADIO WASN'T TO BE COVERED AND THE DOOR SWITCH WOULD. I CHOSE NOT TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED THINKING THAT WE'D CONTINUE TO SHUT THE RADIO OFF. IT WASN'T UNTIL THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AND I REPLACED THE MOTOR (TO NO AVAIL) AND DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE DID I FIND THAT SIMILAR OWNERS HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I EVENTUALLY RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THE ELECTRICAL PATHWAY FROM THE CAR BODY TO THE DOOR CAUSED THE WIRES INSIDE TO STRETCH, CRACK, AND BREAK. THE 2 WIRES THAT WERE BROKEN WERE THE DOOR SENSOR WIRE AND THE POWER WINDOW WIRE. TAKING IT BACK TO PARKWAY CHEVROLET TO HAVE THEM RESEARCH THIS AND DIAGNOSE, THEIR REMEDY WAS TO HAVE THE WIRES RE-SAULDER. I WOULD LIKE FOR THE WIRING HARNESS BE REPLACED. LOOKS AND SEEMS LIKE THERE'S A MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE MALFUNCTION. *TR

FUEL LINE OF VEHICLE IS LEAKING FUEL SOMEWHERE NEAR THE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL TANK. FUEL WILL DRIP FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AND ACCUMULATE. VEHICLE CONSTANTLY SMELLS OF FUEL AND TAKES A LONG TIME TO START AS A RESULT OF THE FUEL LINE HAVING NO INITIAL PRESSURE. CONSTANT FUEL LEAK POSES A DANGER TO OUR HOME AND OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD NOT TO MENTION OUR PERSONAL SAFETY.

WENT TO GET GASOLINE PUT $40.00 IN TANK STARTED UP CAR THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY (DID NOT MOVE) WENT DIRECTLY TO MY MECHANIC HE CHECKED IT OUT AND STATED IT WAS A FUEL SENSOR IN THE FUEL TANK.....COST FOR THIS IS AT LEAST $400.00 OR MORE TO FIX MY ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON AND I HAVE TO CHECK MY MILEAGE RIGHT NOW TO MAKE SURE I FILL UP WITH GAS SINCE THE GAGE NO LONGER WORKS I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS TO HAPPEN THIS CAR IS A 2009 I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT AND DID NOT EXPECT SUCH AN EXPENSE SO SOON!!!!! 2009 CHEVY EQUINOX AWD HAS STEERING PROBLEM. WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AT NORMAL SPEEDS FOR TURNS, THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO LOSE POWER AND VERY HARD TO TURN AS IT SEEMS THE POWER STEERING ENDS. IT RECOVERS BUT INTERMITTENTLY. DOES NOT HAPPEN ON ALL TURNS BUT USUALLY HAPPENS MANY TIMES IN A DAY. HAPPENS DURING COOL OR WARM DAYS AND ALL KINDS OF OTHER WEATHER SITUATIONS. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER GM VEHICLES ARE BEING RECALLED DUE TO THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. SEEMS TO BE A VOLTAGE DROP AND THEIR FIX IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THIS ISSUE IS BEING EXPERIENCED BY MANY CHEVY EQUINOX OWNERS. THE TURNS GET HARD AND THEN SEEMS TO RECOVER WHEN ACCELERATING INTO THE TURN. THIS HAS TO BE A VOLTAGE DROP ISSUE OR SIMILAR. The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that there was an abnormal fuel odor coming from the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered a fuel leak coming from the gas tank. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminating while driving up an incline; however, the light disappeared shortly afterwards. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that there were no open recalls on the VIN. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

CAR HESITATED, SLOWED DOWN, THEN LOST POWER. THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE STABILITRACK OFF, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, REDUCED ENGINE POWER. CAR IS NOW WITH THE DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WILL HAVE TO BE ORDERED AS THIS IS A RARE OCCURRENCE BUT WHEN I LOOKED ON INTERNET, IT SEEMS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES. INCIDENT WAS SCARY DUE TO TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND FOR NO REASON CAR JUST BEGINS TO LOSE POWER. SO NOW I AM WAITING ON THROTTLE BODY TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX FOR THE VEHICLE. ON GOING ISSUE WITH TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITRAK SYSTEM. INTERMITTENTLY A WARNING WILL COME UP ON DASH STATING . . . TRACTION CONTROL OFF - SERVICE STABILITRAK. MOST TIMES, ONCE YOU SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN START IT BACK UP THE WARNING WILL GO AWAY. RECENTLY THE WARNING HAS REMAINED ON DASH AND NEITHER THE TRACTION CONTROL OR ANTI-LOCK BRAKES HAVE FUNCTIONED. TWO MONTHS AGO THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED. OVER A YEAR AGO THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED. NOW THE STUPID THING IS ACTING UP AGAIN AND HEADED TO THE SHOP FOR ABOUT THE TWELFTH TIME FOR THIS ONE ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS EQUINOX IN TEXAS USED WITH 24,071 MILES ON IT. DROVE IT BACK TO OHIO WITH NO PROBLEMS WHAT'S SO EVER. THEN WITH 43,396 MILES, THE IGNITION WIRES STARTED TO FAIL. IRONICALLY I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR HAD I HAD IT DONE AT A SHOP.BEING A GM AND UPS MECHANIC,NO ONE TOUCHES MY VEHICLES OR FAMILY'S BUT ME! NAPA HAD THE WIRES[$22.00} AN I INSTALLED THEM IN LESS THAN 20MINS.AROUND 52000 MILES I NOTICED A WHEEL BEARING SOUND OR FLAT SPOT IN TIRE SOUND FROM LEFT SIDE. I'M THING GM SHOULD HAVE SOLVED THIS ISSUE BY NOW,SO I WAS THINKING NEW TIRES AFTER VACATION. SO WITH ALL SAID, LEFT FRT BEARING AN PADS $302.79. THE BEARING REPLACEMENT MAKES THE CAR RIDE AN HANDLE LIKE NEW AGAIN. ON OCTOBER 16, 2014, I WENT TO THE DEALER TO PICKUP MY VEHICLE STILL WITH NO ANSWERS TO WHY THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE IS READING: STABILITRAKING OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAKING AND ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. ON THANKSGIVING MORNING IN PREPARATION FOR A THREE HOUR DRIVE I BEGAN TO PUT AIR IN THE RIGHT REAR TIRE OF MY CHEVY EQUINOX BECAUSE THE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS SHOWING IT A FEW POUNDS LOWER THAN THE OTHER TIRES. WHEN I REMOVED THE FILL HOSE, THE ALUMINUM (CAST I THINK) VALVE STEM END BROKE OFF WITH THE VALVE MECHANISM ITSELF AND THE TIRE RAPIDLY DEFLATED. HAD TO TO GO DEALER FOR AIRBAG LIGHTS AND THEY CHARGED $1070.00 BECAUSE THE AIRBAG MODULE UNDER PASSENGER SEAT WAS OUT AND HAD TO REPLACE (PART 560 PLUS LABOR). I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE AIRBAGS!! I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT HEARING A RUBBING GRAINING NOISE ALSO HEAR A TRICKLING NOISE WHEN PRESSING THE GAS TO GO. I HAVE HAD MY CAR WORKED ON BY A MECHANIC TWICE. HAD MY RADIATOR FLUSHED THERMOSTAT REPLACED AND ANTI-FREEZE TAKE FLUSHED AND STILL THE SAME ISSUES. MY COOLAN FAN CAUSES MY BATTERY TO GO DEAD AND HAVE TO GET A JUMP START MORE THAN ONCE.
