While driving to work in negative degree weather I got a message saying reduce engine power and before I could pull over it had lost all power. Having it towed and now needing a new engine I see im not the first one with this problem. I also still have a loan im paying for on a dead car. Idk why theres not a recall on this .

I have had this car for a little under a year. In January of this year 2026, I was driving on the freeway when I received a. reduce engine power alert. Which caused me to immediately get off of the freeway put the car power down before I can make it another half a mile. After having it looked at several times what was thought to be a rear seal oil leak turned out to be a leak in the transmission. Repairs as of now our thoughts to be needing an entire new transmission. . Repairs as of now our thoughts to be needing a entire new transmission. I don’t understand why there is no recall for this specific situation. Upon my research, I have seen many complaints many concerns of the exact same thing of the exact same making model of these cars. I have not been able to drive the car since January and have been paying for a rental. With cost estimated to be between 1500 and $4000. Surely there’s something that Chevrolet can do for all of the people who are having the same problems with the equinox

The rear main seal has gone out in two 2017 chevy equinox right around 100,000 for both vehicles costing over 1000$ plus to fix.

On 1/27/26, while driving at highway speeds, I received a "Reduced Engine Power" alert. I was forced to pull over immediately; the vehicle stalled before I could reach a complete stop. This left me stranded in dangerously cold temperatures for an extended period while awaiting a tow. Upon inspection, I was informed that the engine has failed and requires a complete replacement. This is highly distressing for several reasons: * Low Mileage: The vehicle has only 54,000 miles and is well under the expected lifespan of a modern engine. * Meticulous Maintenance: As a loyal customer, I have had every scheduled oil change and service performed at my local Chevrolet dealership. My service history will confirm that this vehicle has been maintained to the highest standards. * Brand Loyalty: I have been a dedicated Chevrolet owner for years, having purchased five brand-new vehicles from your dealerships. I chose Chevrolet based on a reputation for reliability that, in this instance, has not been met. "I am specifically concerned because my vehicle's symptoms align with Special Coverage Adjustment #14882 (PCV Icing). Given that the failure occurred during extreme cold and resulted in immediate engine failure, it appears to be the exact scenario outlined in your technical service bulletins regarding the 2.4L engine. I am requesting that this repair be handled under that special coverage or a similar goodwill extension." My research indicates that this specific engine model has a documented history of similar issues. Given my history with the brand and the premature nature of this failure, I am requesting that Chevrolet review my case for a goodwill repair adjustment or a significant cost-sharing assistance for the engine replacement.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that upon arriving to the destination, the contact became aware that there was an excessive amount of engine oil pooling underneath the engine compartment of the vehicle, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the rear main seal. The vehicle was repaired. Majority of the oil leaked out of the vehicle, the low oil light never came on. Car was towed to the shop after I was told not to drive it, as the engine will most likely seize up. The shop found that the rear main crankshaft seal was blown out and leaking to access crank case pressure due to a PCV orifice plugged, not letting the engine vent.

Several transmission components and functions have failed. This has caused dangerous lurching while gears change and the loss of the ability to move forward, all while driving and without warning. The transfer case also failed, resulting in similar lurching, as well as bouncing and grinding. This problem has been attempted to be repaired multiple times with the dealership returning the car each time claiming that it was repaired, inspected and found good. In all cases the same problem reoccurred within 50 miles of driving. There were no warning lights or symptoms leading up to the failure which would worsen as time went on. The lurching generally occurred when reducing speed, which would unexpectedly bounce the vehicle towards other slowing vehicles, greatly increasing the likelihood of rear ending another driver. When the complete loss of forward function occurred, it had done so similarly while slowing down, which nearly resulted in another driver rear ending us. Fortunately, the reverse gear still worked and the car was able to be removed from the road. The unexpected nature of the behavior of the car and the failures in general, paired with the false assurance from the dealership that the problem was fixed, left the driver highly likely of being involved in a collision.

The gear shift when in drive can be pushed into other gears without pushing the button. When driving down the highway going 70 mph, my dog has more than 10 times pushed it into neutral. It’s extremely dangerous.

While driving everything went blank on my dashboard even radio screen then steering wheel locked up on me for maybe 1-2 seconds then that’s when I got a quick flash come on dashboard and said service power steering or steering wheel. And quickly went away. This could have risked me and my 2 year old toddler life. I took my car back to dealership Lexus of Dayton but they said there was nothing showing on my dashboard. I told them that it went away. So they suggested to take it to a Chevy dealership because it may be cheaper to have it put on a diagnostic because they would charge me 189.00 to do so. Which I feel I shouldn’t have to pay for.

On May 24, 2021, my 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was sitting in my driveway. While my son was vacuuming the car out he heard a boom and jumped out. The rear window had shattered. No one was around and nothing had hit it. The temperature outside was 78 degrees and there was a breeze blowing so it was not due to the heat. Called Chevrolet and they said they have never heard of this happening and it isn't a manufacturer defect but a quick search online and others have had this happen in their 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.

Oxygen sensor, catalytic system efficiency below threshold bank,o2 circuit low voltage,accelerator pedal position sensor 1-2 not plausible, invalid data received from engine control module, vvt timing solenoid, engine vvt timing solenoid, timing shaft bank 1, exhaust camshaft, intake performance camshaft up and down shift switch circuit left front wheel sensor circuit I have had to replace all this on my vehicle nothing was covered under extended warranty I bought car from drive time wanted to return it when they wouldn’t replace when shield mad me look for estimate and then told me I drove over 400miles and would take it back Bridgecrest financed me and car been in and out of shop since I got it also had to replace some but my gas peddle I still owe on this vehicle they wanted 20k still owe like 14k higher robbery I have contacted BBB this is fraud if you ask me also had to replace fuelrail pressure sensors

114k miles and the PCV valve was collecting condensation which froze. This caused a build up of pressure and blew the rear main oil seal and timing chain. No warning, no dash lights, nothing. Oil life at 35% and over 1,000 miles before due for next oil change. Went from running fine to DEAD in less than 1/4 of a mile.

PCV valve froze causing rear main crankcase seal to break and massive oil loss. Fotunately I was able to get home and not have the engine die on the road in -10 degree Fahrenheit temperatures.

My engine failed. It's available for inspection upon request. The engine stalled in the middle of high traffic. I called GM customer care and explained to them what happened. They told me to take it to a GM dealership for diagnosis, (it was already diagnosed by a major company). The dealership confirmed a broken timing chain and bent valves. They also said that it was $12,000 to repair and that GM would only cover $1,200 since its out of drive train warranty. They request that I put down $8,657 before they could order a new engine. The codes the car gave were P0016, P0017, P228D, P0089, and P0341.

My 2017 equinox which I purchased at this dealership starting burning excessive oil and has bad piston rings, they quoted me a $9500 for engine... I had those issues at 97500 miles and the dealership failed to properly inspect and fix the rings even though this motor was known for these issues. The failed piston rings should have been fixed when my vehicle was covered under warranty at approx 97,500 miles! My equinox has approx 100,600 miles on it currently and has sat for 1.5 months. So 600 miles past the warranty and now it needs a new engine? It needs a new engine because the service department knowingly failed to thoroughly fix my car when I had it in at 97,500 miles.

My vehicle had a pool of oil beneath it and a trail behind it due to a faulty PCV. I had it towed to the certified dealer and they told me it was a PCV valve issue, due to the cold temperatures, ice was able to accumulate and caused a pressure build up inside of the hose or something of the sort. With that being said, the pressure caused the seal to pop off and allowed for the oil to leak out and get all over the engine/parts within the engine. The dealership let me know they were aware and had correspondence about this particular issue. There was no sound prior to the decline of my engine, no indicator on the dash, and this issue can happen so quickly that there's no time to respond or reverse damage that was made. My engine no longer works and was told I would need to purchase a new one, despite the fact this issue could happen again with a new engine regardless of routine upkeep. Dealership confirmed the engine was damaged, the oil was depleted, and the PCV was to blame. There were no warning signs, it happened quite quickly, and I fear that if this incident didn't happen at night, my vehicle would have slowed or completely stopped at a rate that would have prevented other drivers from steering clear of me and harming themselves or me. Thankfully it wasn't a busy night. I was going 80km/hr and my vehicle slowed to barely 30 km/hr without being able to accelerate. At home, the engine shut down, and again a pool of oil was found before being towed to the certified dealership I had my routine inspection done at a few months prior. Vehicle previously register in Texas, now resides in Canada where incident occurred.

Two massive oil leaks experienced while driving during cold weather months. One two years ago (Feb 2023) and the other January 2025. Both instance caused by Rear Main Seal and led to mass oil loss while operating and vehicle almost shutting down on roadway. There appears to have been bulletins sent to dealers from GM on the matter but no indication to customers of the potential dangers.

I bought my 2017 Chevy equinox around October or November of 2018. Since owning this car I have had nothing but problems with the oil. The oil had been burning at such an excessive rate that GM finally stated they would need to replace the engine! I have continued to change the oil before it need to be changed due to it burning so quickly. After the engine was replaced I informed GM of the loud noises and informed them 3 weeks after they replaced everything that the oil was again empty! They are now ignoring me and won’t do anything further! I am a single mother of 3 kids trying to make ends meet and I bought a car they knew and have known has oil consumption issues which has caused my car to have major issues. The car randomly can to a full stop while I was driving and I am so lucky I wasn’t going 80 miles an hour because it would of killed me all because the car had burned the oil just 2 weeks after an oil change! GM continues to ignore me and will not replace the car or fix anything! I started having issues in August of 2019 and they replaced the engine on jul 14 2022 and I am certain this car is not going to make it much longer it has ac and heat problems as well again all started after replacement and still have oil issues

While I was driving the rear main seal went out and I lost all my oil. Luckily I was close to home,could have blown my motor. This is a 1500.00 to a 2500.00 fix. This happened around feb.26 2024 and my car is still sitting I'm my drive until I can save up the money to fix it. Also the few places I have called around to fix it have had other equinoxes in for the same thind,22 that I know of.

The contact owned a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle collided with a deer. During the crash, the air bags became inoperable and failed to inflate or expose themselves out of the housing, and an “Air Bag Needs Service” warning message was displayed. The contact also noticed a strong fume-like odor following the impact and stated that the air bag system appeared to engage but did not deploy. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not towed, and law enforcement advised the contact that the vehicle could be safely driven home. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact owned a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while stopped in traffic, he was involved in a rear end crash. The contact stated that the vehicle was pushed forward by the impact into the rear end of another vehicle. The contact stated that the rear end of the vehicle was crushed in to the rear wheel wells, and the front end of the vehicle, the hood, front bumper, and grill were also crushed back into the front wheel wells. The contact stated that the front air bags had not deployed after being pushed into the rear of the other vehicle. The contact was not sure what happened to the other two vehicles. The contact stated that the Police were called and EMS was also on scene. The contact stated that a Police report was filed. The contact stated that he was not transported to the hospital, but later had been taken by a friend to seek medical attention. The contact stated that the jolt of the impact had caused a concussion. Additionally, there were some bruising from the seat belt to the left shoulder. The contact stated that after the crash the seat belt failed to retract and the issue might be due to a sensor failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an impound lot and later declared a total loss by the Insurance Company. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.

UNKNOWN. This complaint is related to a letter I received from GM notifying me that there is the POTENTIAL for failure of the front windshield wipers due to failure of the wiper ball joints. The letter states that GM will only fix the problem IF they fail. It seems to me that this is a KNOWN problem that has the potential to cause serious injury or loss of life if it were to fail during inclement weather where you need your wipers for visibility. I believe that GM should make this issue a recall and am asking the NHTSA to look into this and advise GM to recall the affected vehicles.

The windshield wipers have abruptly stopped working numerous times within the past two years. When met with little resistance, such as normal precipitation, the motor stops working. It is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of my children were at risk when this happened on the highway in the middle of a blizzard. This has also happened during heavy rain and I was forced to pull over until it was dry. While other years of the same make and model have been recalled the 2017 Equinox has not.

Back hatch window blew out overnight sometime between 1am and 8am for no reason. No signs of vandalism as this vehicle is parked in the driveway several feet away from sidewalk and multiple other vechicles parked in same driveway. No projectiles types found inside vehicle cargo hold either. Temps were in the low to mid 60s during this timeframe. Remaining glass appears to be slightly pushed outward. Would create serious safety hazard if this happened while driving.

On 12/31/23, my 2017 Chevrolet Equinox burst into flames in the driveway. I had not driven it in three weeks due to a medical problem, so my husband cranked up the car and idled briefly to keep the battery operational. About 15 minutes after he exited the SUV, it caught fire. I have seen recalls for other model years that describe the Equinox's excessive oil consumption, which can lead to engine fires and other hazards. Although there is no recall on the 2017 model, those complaints are consistent with my experience. The insurance company has declared the car a total loss.

This vehicle continues to burn oil and the engine light does not turn on when the vehicle is low on oil. I have had this car for 4 years and it has been an issue where when I take it in for oil change there is no oil left in engine. Vehicles are not supposed to burn oil. I have been told it is an internal engine issue and that this is a known problem from this vehicle by the Chevy dealership. It is unsafe for anyone to be traveling without oil in their vehicle and not have any type of alert to know it is low. I could break down at anytime and it would be a serious cost to me to have this repaired even though it is a “known issue“ with Chevy equinox.

I get my oil changed every 2-3 months. This morning it decided to jolt and all the lights flicker while my daughter was getting out of the car. She had one foot out. I had it towed and was told it is a blown rear main seal and they are unsure of the extent of the damage at the auto shop I took it too, and was told it might have affected my engine. That I had to have it towed to a Chevy dealership for further evaluation and it was to extensive for them to do where I had it towed. I was told it was the 3rd car this morning that they received with this issue. All Equinox's. I was never given any notification on my dashboard that this there was an issue, till it was happening. I DO NOT have any leaks where I park my car on a daily basis. The extent of damage so far is at least $2500. I am out of pocket just for towing $260. If it is an engine problem, I will be out up to $8000. I still owe on this car thanks to inflation. Thankfully no one was parked in front of my car today or a kid walking in front of it.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 98,000. The contact found paperwork inside the glove compartment that indicated that the mileage on the Title was 156,300. The contact purchased the Carfax Report and confirmed the mileage. The contact filed a report with the local Police Department.

THE RADIO QUIT WORKING. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND SAID I NEED A NEW RADIO. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. IN TALKING WITH OTHER OWNERS, MANY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN ON. THIS ALSO IS HOW TO CONTROL THE HEAT/AC, THE BACKUP CAMERA, THE NAV SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP AND MAKER ARE BOTH REFUSING TO ADMIT TO A DEFECTIVE SYSTEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE WAITING AT A RED LIGHT, A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT PRESENT. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNK YARD AND THEN RETRIEVED BY THE MANUFACTURER. 1.Since I bought the car it has needed oil on a weekly basis. I took it in for repair it had something to do with the oil consumption device $2270.00 to fix. 2. timing chain went out had to fix that too $$$$ 3. While driving along the car at rush hour the car suddenly died without any warning. PCV valve got clogged and failed, i have an extended warranty and the extended warranty EXCLUDES this from any repairs if this is involved. Caused my Rear Main Seal to break and leak oil. Not drivable currently. Quoted 3200 on a repair. Purchased the vehicle less than 12 months ago.

2/4/19 bulletin issued for PCV valve defect [XXX] bought car from dealer, was told nothing wrong with car [XXX] sold me a extended warranty to assure me the car would be protected [XXX] car wouldn’t start in driveway had it towed to Tarr Chevrolet. [XXX] warranty refused to fix car, seems they excluded the PCV valve from warranty. The PCV valve blew the rear seal, part of the power train which I have a lifetime warranty on. But since the PCV valve caused it , they didn’t cover that either. This repair cost me $2800.00. Living on social security that’s a lot of money. I have called Chevy, the dealer and the warranty co to no avail, I have read about all the class action suits. This is a very serious problem. MY CAR STARTED TO USE A LOT OF OIL, AND UPON MY REGULAR OIL CHANGES IT WOULD ALWAYS BE VERY LOW, BUT OIL WAS NOT LEAKING OUT OF THE CAR. Received a report from local auto repair and they found that the oil main seal is leaking. Issue happened in the highway and car automatically turned off the engine. I was not in an accident as there was no one else on the road and I was able to push it to the side. When the car turned on the wheel was stiff and hardly moved to the right or left. The warning received before the shut off was the service stabilitrack issues and when checked all oil completely depleted from the vehicle.

Twice the exhaust has leaked into the cabin to the point where it is very noticeable. It causes headaches and breathing problems. GM has known of this issue for several years and it has been reported several times. GM placed a bandaid on it knowing it would fail.

After very cold winter weather, car started to smell. PCV valve blew and car was seizing causing it to blow out the rear systems. It had spilled oil onto the garage floor and had a bad emissions smell. Dealership said they added 3 quarts of Oil and that within 30 minutes two quarts leaked out. No warning lights on dashboard, no affected cautions through the equinox app (which still shows that I have 80% of my oil still remaining). While driving the car started making a ticking sound during acceleration and a bad smell. I am now left with a $3700 bill. Numerous others have detailed exact experiences with their equinox after the last February, cold spell in Chicagoland. I was very fearful driving the car and my safety was compromised. When I was driving the vehicle, the dash said low pressure oil turn car off. Not even enough time to find a place to pull over. It just shuts off. Had been going 55 instead of 35. I could’ve gotten rear-ended with it just shutting off talk to a Car repair shop and they said those are all starting to do that the rear main seal blowing out. They didn’t have a big enough hole in the intake and it’s plugging up and building pressure and blowing the rear main seal.

Rear main seal blew out due to known (and recalled in previous years) fault with the PCV valve. The check engine light never came on and neither did the oil light when there was no oil left due to the seal blowing out. This incident caused damage to crucial engine parts including the transmission.

My infotainment system lost power.all ADAS systems stopped working All warning alarms stopped no blinker sound, no dome light or back up cameras. Im not even sure if my airbags are working. radio, gps climate control out. I was in nyc when this happened lost gps guidence was my first time there wound up lost in that traffic a lot of near misses . I took my vehicle to my dealer they confirmed my ifotainment center needs replaced at a cost of 2200 dollars. Im on ssi disability thats more than a months pay so i had no choice but drive it the way it is. I looked up issue on google there are hundreds of complaints on there. There should be recall on this issue as i see it started in 2012 to present. There was no warning just started the car and nothing was working. No ADAS warnings i see as a total safety issue

At approximately 2123 hours, we came over a slight hill and hit a cow at 70 miles an hour on state Highway 95 between Academy, Texas and Temple, Texas. Our airbags did not deploy and my seatbelt malfunctioned as I hit my head on dash.

This was previously reported on March 10 2021 and I was given case #9-6591373301. It was a lease car that was returned to the dealership on March 31, 2021. After hitting a pothole in March 2020, the airbag light stayed on. The dealership did not take care of the problem and I was told at that time there were no recalls for that problem. I was told I could get it fixed and save the bill. Once an investigation was started and it was determined that indeed there was a problem, I should be entitled to be reimbursed. To date there have been no recalls although my mechanic had to replace both seat belts because replacing the driver's seat belt did not correct the problem. The diagnostic showed there was a seat belt problem and when they were removed you could see they were defective. When I returned the car I gave the service department the seat belts and to date, I have heard nothing. They did say because the defective seat belts had been replaced they would not be able to determine if the seat belts I turned in had a problem, which made no sense. Is that why no one bothered to contact me?

I TOO HAVE NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTING AT NIGHT IS NOT AS GOOD, ACTUALLY TERRIBLE, WITH MY 2017 EQUINOX AS COMPARED TO MY 2008 EQUINOX WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THE COUNTRY ROADS AND SURBUBAN NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS WITH LITTLE STREET LIGHTING. I RARELY USED THE BRIGHTS WITH MY 2008 EQUINOX. WITH THE 2017, THE SAME ROADS AND HIGHWAYS THAT I DRIVE TO AND FROM DAILY ARE DIFFICULT TO SEE WITHOUT FLICKING THE BRIGHTS IN AREAS ON THE ROAD WHICH I WAS ABLE TO SEE CLEARLY ON THE ROAD IN MY 2008 EQUINOX. I AVOID TRAVELING AT NIGHT IF I CAN POSTPONE FOR DAYLIGHT DUE TO LIGHTING ISSUE. MY EYES VISION HAS NOT CHANGED IN THREE YEARS AND DID IMPROVE IN VISION FROM THE PAST. I SUSPECT THIS ISSUE OF BAD LIGHTING ALSO AFFECTS THE CHEVY CRUZ 2014 & 2017 WHICH MY SON HAS BOTH NOW AND ALWAYS TRIES TO "GET BACK BEFORE DARK" TO HIS HOME. THAT STATEMENT WAS NEVER MADE DRIVING THE PONTIAC HE DROVE IN THE PAST FOR YEARS. I WILL SPEAK TO MY CHEVY CAR DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY' ISSUE. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO COMPARE AND RESOLVE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ESCALATED! I WILL CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AS WELL TO PUT THEM ON NOTICE OF THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURER CONDITION.

While driving my 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, the vehicle repeatedly displays diagnostic trouble code P2138 (Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor Voltage Correlation). The vehicle suddenly enters “Reduced Engine Power” mode without warning and loses acceleration while driving. This occurs daily and multiple times per day, both on highways and local roads. When the issue happens, the vehicle will not properly accelerate and loses power unexpectedly. This creates a serious safety hazard, especially in highway traffic, as I am unable to maintain speed or accelerate to avoid other vehicles. I have had to maneuver carefully or move toward the shoulder to avoid potential collisions. The throttle body has already been replaced; however, the problem continues to occur. The defect has not been corrected and remains ongoing and reproducible. I am currently [XXX] pregnant and drive this vehicle daily for work and to transport my [XXX] child to school. The unexpected loss of power places both myself and my child at risk while operating the vehicle in active traffic. This defect presents a significant safety concern due to repeated and sudden loss of engine power while driving. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am writing to address a critical issue involving my 2017 Chevrolet vehicle, which poses a significant safety hazard. I purchased this car from Faulkner Subaru in Bethlehem in 2022. The specific component failure relates to the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system, particularly the lack of a traditional PCV valve and the presence of a fixed orifice vacuum port in the intake manifold. This component is available for inspection upon request. The safety of myself, my passengers, and other road users was compromised due to the sudden and significant oil leakage caused by the malfunctioning PCV system. This not only endangered our safety but also posed a serious risk to others on the road. While the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, it is a well-documented issue with ongoing litigation against Chevrolet. However, there are currently no active recalls addressing the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The incident occurred suddenly while driving, with the strong smell of burning oil and subsequent oil leakage being the first indications of a problem. Your immediate attention to this matter and intervention on behalf of affected consumers is crucial. I urge Chevrolet to address this safety concern through a formal safety recall and to take responsibility for rectifying this manufacturing defect.

Main rear seal blew and upon towing to Dealer they said they had 3 other equinox vehicles there all done around 130000 miles and all the same year - low oil light never appeared - Car just stopped during winter season and I am 72 years and in the country , with no heat waiting for AAA - Problem of not getting oil light low was never explained but rear main seal was fixed - Upon completing repairs a check engine light remains -Car drove fine after the fix and continues to drive fine but check engine light remains

I was in a vehicle accident the 4th of August. After the accident I noticed the airbag light on. I check the passenger seat belt and it wouldn't budge, but the air bags never deployed from the accident. About a month ago I had an issue with the car. I was driving down the road and I took a sharp left turn and the car acted like it was starving for gas. It was on a full tank and I was stranded for a few hrs until the car cooled down to where it was operational.

While the vehicle is being driven a message will appear service tire monitor system and all gauges on the dash do not work, the radio, heating a/c also stops.The message quickly changes to service airbag. (Photos of both messages attached) Issue started Nov of 2020 Vehicle has been seen by Gordon Chevrolet MI 4 times for service and they are unable to find the issue. We did inform them that if we moved the driver seat just a bit that seem to reset it. Doesn't seem to be as responsive to that now. At one point the BCM was mentioned but still as of today not resolved or fixed. My concern is when the vehicle says service airbag and you are driving it down the road I don't know that this airbag will work if something were to happen. The dealership is well aware of the ongoing unresolved issue and I have another appointment for November 1,2021 so they can look at it again.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The failure persisted and the vehicle was brought back to the same dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rotors needed to be cut. The mechanic cut the rotors however after several months the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000.

AS WE WHERE APPROACHING AND CROSSINGS THE LIGHT THAT WAS GREEN AT THE NEXT LIGHT, AS WE PROCEEDED CROSSING THE GREEN LIGHT, AN SS BLACK SUV WAS COMING FROM WEST OF HARRISON TOWARDS US AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH SPEED 60-65 MILES PER HOUR. THERE WAS NO TIME TO ADJUST AND RECOVER TO AVOID THE SUV THAT HIT US AT SUCH A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE SS BLACK SUV THAT HIT US IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2017 EQUINOX IN WHICH CAUSED MY 2017 EQUINOX FROM THE IMPACT TO CRASH HEAD ONTO AN WHITE SUV THAT WAS DRIVING THE OPPOSITE SIDE GOING SOUTH OF LARAMIE TOWARDS HARRISON. GIVING FALSE READINGS, FINALLY WHOLE MIDDLE CONSOLE WENT BLACK, HEATER TURNED ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF, COULD NOT ACCESS TEMP CONTROL, RADIO, BLUETOOTH, ETC. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE, VERY DANGEROUS! I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK DRIVING ON THE NORTHEAST EXTENSION OF THE PA TURNPIKE HEADING SOUTH, AND I WAS BETWEEN EXIT 95 & EXIT 87 ON FRIDAY 8/2/19 AT APPROX. 3:30 PM. I WAS DRIVING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH AND WAS NOT USING CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE CAR ABRUPTLY SHIFTED INTO LOW GEAR, FLASHED A 'REDUCED POWER MODE' WARNING, AND WENT INTO A 'LIMP' MODE WHERE IT WAS SLOWING DOWN TO EVENTUALLY STOP ITSELF, BUT I WAS AT 40 OR 35 WHEN I PULLED OVER. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, AND THANK GOD NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME, I WASN'T IN CONSTRUCTION AND I HAD A SPOT I COULD SAFELY PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER. I HAVE A 2017 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH ONLY 40,000 MILES ON IT. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND SAT FOR 5 MINUTES OR SO. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, THE REDUCED POWER WARNING WAS GONE, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME AND CALLED THE DEALER, CHEVY WIND GAP, TO SEE IF I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED THERE OR IF I COULD DRIVE IT IN MYSELF. THEY TOLD ME THEY THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A SENSOR MALFUNCTION, THAT IT SHOULD RESET ITSELF, AND THAT I COULD DRIVE IT THERE FOR THEM TO LOOK AT WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AFTER A FEW DAYS, AND CHEVY WIND GAP WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY CURRENT CODE HISTORY OF THE REDUCED POWER MODE SO NOW I'M JUST DRIVING IN FEAR EVERY TIME I GET INTO THE THING THAT IT'S GOING TO DO THIS AGAIN AT ANY TIME. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE PASSENGERS FOR FEAR OF PUTTING THEM IN DANGER. IF THIS HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER ON MY BUMPER, IT COULD MAKE FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE CHEVY EQUINOX, THIS IS THE 3RD ONE WE'VE BOUGHT, PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS OUT THERE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO BECAUSE THAT NUMBER IS GROWING EACH DAY. PLEASE GIVE US PIECE OF MIND TO FEEL SAFE AGAIN IN OUR NEW CHEVY EQUINOX.
