Faulty fuel pump caused my vehicle to shut down while driving.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle lost power with no warning. Was able to get it to the side of the road and had it towed to dealership. The found the fuel pump module was at fault. Had it replaced and 2 weeks later the check engine light came on and same diagnostic code came up for the fuel pump module. (had just been replaced). Took to dealership again and they replaced the module again stating it could be a faulty part. Now again 3 weeks later the check engine light is on again. Same diagnostic code came up again stating it is the fuel pump module. Car is currently at the dealership for the third time in 6 weeks for the same issue. Thankfully there has been no personal injury involved but the car stopping while driving on a Highway is very dangerous and scary. This is definitely a crash risk for the driver /passengers and others on the roadway.

Car would not turn over only grinning noise. Stranded in parking lot. Had to have car towed to dealer. They replaced the fuel pump. The car would not start again 2 days later. I was stranded again. I kept trying and it finally started. It stopped intraffic just died on the way home. Before help came I got it started and made it home. I had it towed to the dealer again. This time they said it is the fuel pump modular. The fuel pump cost me $1300.00 and norw the charge will be $400.00. SOME 2022 Equinox were recalled but mine was not included. On July 23, 2025 My Equinox quit running as I was pulling out into an intersection. After several attempts to restart with no success I called my roadside assistance provider and had the Equinox towed to a repair facility. After diagnostics on July 24, 2025 it was determined that the Fuel Pump Control Module had failed. The Module was replaced and reprogrammed. After the repair was completed it was brought to my attention that there was a recall issued on "some" 2022 Equinox 's but not all 2022 Equinox 's. My VIN was not included in the recall but suffered the same failure as the recalled units. No warning lights or symptoms prior to the failure. This continues to be a safety issue because without warning the vehicles just stop running. The Equinox had 45,939 miles on the odometer at the time of the failure. This in a know safety issue and GM should have included all 2022 Equinox 's or at least a broader range of VINs in the initial recall.

My vehicle has trouble starting and once it starts it dies within a minute or less. Check engine light is on. Code was showing the fuel pump module. Had it towed to the dealership to confirm exactly what the issue is.

I had purchased a brand new 2022 chevy equinox from a local dealer in July 2022. Since then, my car had to be towed twice for the infamous shift to park issue. Both times, I was left without a car for over a week. When the shift to park issue happens, the car cannot be turned off. Both times this issue happened, the dealership had to unplug the battery because they could not get the car to shut off. Both times, the dealerships refused to fix the problem despite the car being under warranty. This most recently happened on [XXX]. The car was towed to the Courtesy Chevy Dealership in San Diego. There were two service representatives looking at the car when I dropped it off. They both could not figure how to get the car to turn off, so they proceeded to remove the battery. After a long wait of many days (despite the dealership promising to have an answer in 2 days), they told me they could not find anything wrong with the car. I was told since they could not replicate the issue, they could not do anything about it. This is a big problem for a few reasons: 1.) This shift to park issue is very well known for GM models. There were even multiple service bulletins instructing GM dealerships on how to fix the issue. I brought this up with the service team and the representative noted that this fix was probably what the car needed, but could not be done because the problem was not replicated in the dealership. 2.) The shift to park issue cannot be manually replicated. The service team is aware of this, but kept using this excuse. The two service representatives saw the issue themselves when the car was towed to their location. 3.) The service team said they could not run any diagnostics on the check engine light because the battery was disconnected, which was done by the staff at the service center. 4.) The car is <3 years old with <20k miles. This should be covered under the warranty. 5.) I have been stranded twice and it will happen again as Chevy won't fix it. When I would start my car in the morning, it would stall/sputter and make clanking noises. The check engine light came on, and I took it to the dealership for repair. They replaced a fuel injector and then the next day I had the same issue and took it back to the dealership. They replaced another fuel injector and when I got it home and tried to start it a few days later, the same issue persisted. I took it back to the dealership and asked they keep it a few days to test their repairs and they’ve had the car almost 4 months now. They don’t know what the issue is. They’ve brought in engineers from GM and still can’t identify the issue.

Parked car and got out was bumped by car as it shifted to reverse by it self knocked me down and dragged me about 80 feet I let go as I seen it heading for tree it hit the tree stopping and damaging front door which was open. Repaired at local dealer which said they checked it and said they could not find any reason the same thing happened one year ago.talked to another person who said he had same thing happen.no I am afraid to drive it car has only 10000 miles am very afraid for family’s safety was not injured but I very well could have been.

Was in park and the engine off. The car rode backwards with my wife in the car with 1 foot still on the car, and 1 foot on my driveway, the car drove backwards, dragged my wife about 15 feet the door crushed her ribs break five of them, and she has many soft tissue injuries and the left front wheel ran over both of her shins on her legs.

The 1st time my 2022 Equinox broke down was July 1st 2025 approximately 3+ miles from my house turned left at intersection (stop sign) approximately 50 yards. All sudden engine lost power (engine was still running) till it stopped running. (At that time I was thinking it ran out of gas. I know I had plenty of gas). No advance warning. No idiot lights came on, not even the check engine either. I was driving approximately 35-40 mph. No power steering. I got the car off the road about one foot. so, I called a tow truck & I waited approximately 45 minutes. Was towed the nearest GM dealership & that costed $144.00. On July 9 2025 I got my car back. The service manager (person) told me the fuel pump control module shorted out. The 2nd time my 2022 Equinox LT broke down was on August 23 2025 Pulled out of garage than engine started idling rough then it stopped running. I tried to start it again was very hard to start. I drove it approximately 50 feet & the engine stopped running again. I got it to start & back it off the street & in to garage. Waited till 8/25/2025 baby it to Buick/GMC dealership. Too many problems with car. AC stopped working. Told cylinders bad. Needs New engine. Still in the shop as of November 17 2025. I have GMC Customer Service involved in this since July 1 2025. GMC hasn't reimburse me the $144.00 for towing charge.

While driving, warning "Service Restraint System" popped up on the speedometer display, followed by "Auto stop" something, then "Reduced Engine Power", and symbols lit up including the Service Engine and traction control symbols. I pulled over, saw what I thought was steam emanating from the passenger side of the hood. I popped the hood intending to investigate and saw flames. 3 firemen and 2 mechanics told me based on my description, the engine was on fire before I even pulled off the road.

Ever so often my check engine will pop on and everything will go haywire. The park assist will cut on and off periodically as well as the automatic high beams and also the infotainment system will connect to my phone and randomly make phone calls at any time. I'm usually alerted of this malfunction when I start the vehicle. Also, the auto stop/start will be active but will continue running when brake is applied. And the final issue is one of the majors, my automatic remote start only works periodically. I'll use this feature from my window which is about 55 ft from my car and the lights will come on but when I get to my car it's not running and everything is off. There is definitely an electrical issue in the vehicle. I have only had the vehicle 3 months and the issue persist more and more frequently. I have informed the dealership and they seem to can't find any issues which is beyond me but they just keep getting worse. I need some sort of help on this matter.

The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was not offered any assistance. Air charged cooler/ engine issues. I have a 2022 Chevy Equinox- purchased new in April 2022. When driving in heavy rain / humidity for length of time - I experience the car feeling like it is going to stall- not accelerating when pushing on the gas and jerking. Some times the engine light flashes when this occurs. Per the dealer it is due to an engine misfire - that is what the code shows. When this happens while I am driving (usually on the highway) I am terrified that I will be rear ended by another vehicle due to it slowing down - and the cars behind me have no warning/ brake lights alerting them that I am slowing down and not accelerating. From Sept 2022 to now, I have had the air charged cooler changed by the dealer twice - another time the dealer was not able to duplicate the same issue. November 2023-I had it to the dealer for the 4th time for the same issue- the solution per GM Bulletin [XXX] was to install a grill cover, which they have done. The problem with the grill cover is that I am responsible to install it and remove it depending on the weather/ temperature . Per the bulletin it needs to be on when raining - but removed if it is 85 degrees or higher and there is no clarification on what I should do if it is both raining and 85 outside. I do not know how this is safe for me to be having to stop the car and install or remove a part depending on the weather. I do not feel it is safe for me to have to stop or pull over on the side of the road / rest area or anywhere else to have to install or remove this. I am a single female [XXX] and am not comfortable with installing and removing this. The dealer did a one time courtesy demonstration of the installation and told me it is my responsibility to install or remove it from here on - depending on the temperature and weather. I drive 2 1/2 to 3 hours to work- leaving in the dark and returning in the dark. I feel my safety is at risk with the fix GM has given me. 2022 CHEVROLET EQUINOX-Consumer Privacy Act release form was forwarded from the Alaskan Senators office. Consumer transcribed statement: “Engine on my 2022 Chevy Equinox stopped running twice in January, 2023. After 2nd “pause” it would not restart. Need to go to dealership in Anchorage for fix. No roads, except ferry (Alaska Marine Highway) but they won’t take – no running cars. I shipped to AML via AK Marine Line (barge) and pre-paid charches – finally fixed. 2 ½-3 months later and shpped back via AML barge. Now Chevy says they will not pay shipping up and back. I’m just out all I have paid for. Chevy says won’t pay as no recall issued – but failed to tell me how to get car back and forth to dealership without paying for it myself. We were without car for 3 months! We are retired, only have 1 car and it would not run. Need someone to help me! Call me to get rest of information. I’m not sure if this is something you can assist with. We would greatly appreciate your guidance either way." VIN# listed in letter was not found.

My vehicle was not able to use the Onstar properly and after researching numerous complaints I guess a faulty or bad Onstar module is a common issue among gm owner especially within the first 12 months of owning the vehicle. Why is this problem not being recalled or compensated to the hundreds of individuals paying out of pocket for this malfunction which is close to $1000? Why is the module dying or breaking so easy and in such short period of time. This is hazardous to my family because my disabled child can make driving scary some days. Not knowing I have the emergency onstar button available, or knowing where I am in case of an emergency is a severe issue for me hence why I purchased a new vehicle and made purchasing onstar services a priority for my family. Also the WiFi feature helps my child to communicate with me and tell me any issues since she is non verbal and needs her device. Also not being able to use the app to lock the vehicle in case I forgot is a safety concern to me because sometimes I need to know I locked the car or that I know where the car is at all times. This onstar working or module mishap needs to be fixed and stop unconvincing people’s lives and those they love. People who are forced to fix this issue of the onstar not even getting a signal or being able to call onstar is dangerous! This who feel protected by the services and willing to purchase a vehicle just because of this should not have to pay up to $1000 to fix this issue especially in the first year! I can’t believe the amount of people who affected by this companies faults and carelessness. A recall needs to be put in affect and the modules/wiring need to be reinforced and installed more properly.

We purchased this used 2022 Equinox on [XXX] from Hatfield Buick / GMC in Redlands. It is still under factory warranty with mileage currently at 17,700. In mid January 2024, the vehicle was difficult starting. After it started, I drove directly to the dealer in Redlands. They kept the car for nearly two weeks before they identified the electrical problem was in the factory radio mechanism. At that time, I was told there was a supply chain issue obtaining a replacement radio from the GM FACTORY and there was no eta. I told the service advisor I NEEDED MY CAR. He suggest they pull the fuse controlling the radio until the replacement radio was received. That way I could take the car home and regain use. The only problem with this temporary fix was it affected many inside the cabin functions, most directly all sounds of turn signals, etc were silent, the back up camera no longer functioned and mostly all these disabled functions made the use of the car DANGEROUS. On March 13th I sent the general manager and service tech an email asking the status to our problem. As of today, Sunday, March 17 no word from that dealership. I need your help resolving this problem or authorize that dealer to provide a temporary replacement and keep our vehicle until the necessary part to resolve is complete. vehicle crashed 3/8/23 driving south on rt 95 in sharon ma. power steering failed causing vehicle to crash into guard rail. traffic was moderate on all 3 lanes and appoching vehicles avoided multiple crashes. ma state police arrived & driver taken to mass general hospital baby car seat unoccupied at time of accident. vehicle dashboard lit up with power steering failure message. vehicle towed to dealership & gm inspected black box. after 100 days gm responded there is no problem with power steering. gm still refuses to provide information they obtained from black box. vehicle towed to dealership who sold car. within 20 minutes they diagnosed power steering rack is defective. gm remains nontransparent and denies responsibility for the accident.

On Sunday September 7th 2025. I was driving 40 miles an hour. And all of a sudden my electronic braking system engaged and locked up. Big jolt and came to stop. Luckily I was not on the highway and also luckily I did not get rear-ended as well.

The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 60 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle continued to drive causing the contact to crash into the vehicle in front. The entire front of the vehicle was damaged. The contact stated that the vehicle was still in motion after the crash, he had to jump out of the vehicle and manually steer the vehicle to the side of the road where it finally came to a stop. All the air bags in the vehicle deployed. The contact mentioned the automatic braking system failed to independently stop the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact's wife who was driving sustained air bag and seat belt bruising but no medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot. The insurance company had not inspected the vehicle as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

I feel asleep while driving on a residential side street. The vehicle drifted over to the right side of the road and i hit the back end of a u-haul truck. i didn't hear any warning and i don't believe the automatic braking system worked to prevent a collision with such severe damage. I was told the repairs are $16,000.00 roughly. My car has been in the Chevy body shop since the accident in May. They suddenly decided to total the car but don’t have additional charges.

My 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, with just 72,000 miles, experienced a sudden and catastrophic transmission failure caused by a faulty transmission line clamp that broke, resulting in a rapid loss of transmission fluid while I was driving. I was able to pull over to safety, but was on the interstate going 75mph when my speed and vehicle power rapidly reduced. The vehicles around me were able to rapidly to respond, changing lanes and avoiding my rapidly slowing vehicle, but had they not had such quick responsiveness, there could have been a very serious collision. This unexpected failure destroyed the transmission and left me stranded. A side note (records are attached), the vehicle had been maintained at a Chevrolet dealership in accordance with all of their servicing timelines.

Winter of 2023/early 2024- during very cold period, I was on the freeway where it is 70 mph, and received a warning of a power train underboost- car said low power mode. It was caused by water accumulating and freezing. According to the Cheverolet bulletin, it was a known issue and I had the car serviced with the wrap put on it required. This was a scary event because I was on the highway and could not go the speed limit and had to exit. Fast forward to this past winter: early 2025- very cold period. Again had a low power mode when I was accelerating to get on the freeway from the ramp, suddenly could not get to speed and was passed on the on-ramp- exceedingly scary and unsafe, had to drive with hazards on and exit next exit. It was an overboost error that caused it. Again, water froze in the valve. new fix is to put a "bra" on the lower part of the grill when it is below freezing and take it off when it is not freezing out. Ridiculous fix with 20 clips and it is a true safety issue.

2022 CHEV EQUINOX STOPPED IN ROAD WHILE DRIVING. MECHANIC RAN CODE 8 MIN AFTER VEHICLE STOPPED. CODE CAME UP P129F FUEL PUMP DRIVER CONTROL. IT WAS TOWED TO BUTLER CHEV. MACON GA. THEY DID DIGNOSTIC AND SAID THIS PART WAS REPLACED FEB 10 2023. WE PURCHASED CAR FROM THIS DEALER NOV. 2023. LEE SERVICE ISLAND REP HAD CAR SEP 22 - 26 MON - THUR AND THEY RAN ANOTHER DIGNOSTIC AND THEY REPLACED FUEL DRIVER BOX MODULE. THE OTHER PART WAS NOT REPLACED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG SAFETY PROBLEM. CAR STOPS WITHOUT NOTICE IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. I WOULD LIKE TO NOTIFY CHEV. THAT MORE INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE MADE ON THIS PROBLEM. WE WERE ONLY MINUTES FROM GETTING ON I 75 N IN ATLANTA TRAFFIC AND THE CAR STOPS DEAD STILL IN MIDDLE OF ROAD. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. i requested chev. to replace the part that the code read p129F by the mechanic on site 8 min. after the car stopped. he showed it was a recall and that was replaced 2/10/23 at another dealership but they chose not to do so. the part could be defective. we have owned car since 11/2023.

After going very slow, mostly stopped, in stop-and-go traffic for 2 hours, my Chevy Equinox suddenly started to shake and would not respond. The car/engine was on and in Drive but the gas petal would not propel the car forward. My steering wheel locked and I could not turn it in any way. The Engine Light came on and a message came on the dash that said "Push Brake to Start Engine" but pushing the brake did not change anything, and the engine had never turned off. I tried to turn the car off by mashing the brake and pushing the engine stop button but my car would not turn off. I rolled backward into the car behind me as could not go forward and traffic had to be routed around me. About 20 minutes later, I tried to turn my car off and it did cut off completely. About 30 minutes later a police officer was able to turn my car on, put it in neutral, and roll it to the side of the road. The check engine light was still on. My car was towed 200 miles back home and I was able to drive it off the tow truck and into our driveway but the engine light was still on. The next day, the car turned on and the engine light was not on. I did not feel safe to drive it so we had it towed to the Carmax where we purchased it. Carmax towed it to a local chevy dealership and they said it was the fuel nodule. It is currently awaiting those repairs.

I was driving on the highway at a fast speed 75+ miles per hour. I was in the left lane. My car turned off and there was no acceleration. It was not getting fuel. I was able to make it to the right lane and merge off the highway before it stopped moving by momentum alone. Cars had to slow down and go around me almost causing an accident. It is not okay to let people drive around in an unsafe manner when, now I found that this is a common problem. Having an accident on I-95 is no joke. It could have cost me my life.

The fuel pump module failed as I was driving 65 mph on the interstate. Thankfully, I was able to pull over without an incident. My safety was at risk stopping suddenly at this rate of speed and I was thankful I was in the right hand lane and able to pull off the road. After waiting an hour, my car was towed to the dealer and the fuel pump module has been replaced. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms prior to this failure. My car was covered under the warranty and I have contacted GM and filed a complaint regarding this situation as my car only has 9,000 miles on it.

Notation of the airbag failure was noted by on scene police, firefighters and paramedics. No other related work, alterations or repairs had previously occurred to this vehicle. We have had this issue for going on two years. When we bought the car, we immediately started having problems. When we were driving the car, it would start popping in the steering column. We then started having rattles within the body, that are still going, to this day. We have had 4 radios put in due to electrical, still having the same Issues with it, TO THIS DAY. There is some kind of leak inside the body that is causing water to get into the doorframe and slosh around. Chevrolet is not wanting to take accountability and lemon this car, as we’ve had it in the shop right at 10 times for the same issues.

There have been 4 radios in the car installed and it has continually cause multiple issues with the electrical system. We’ve had the car in the shop for 7 different times and there is no correction as of now. Additionally, we’re continuing to have a constant rattling sound and it has been looked at and ‘corrected’ multiple times and there is still not a fix. We’ve had this car in the shop 10 different times over the two issues and still no correction nor any assistance from the manufacturer. Something has to give.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at 60 MPH, the steering wheel failed to turn and became stiff. The contact attempted to turn to the left for a curve however the steering wheel failed to turn to the left. The "power steering service drive with care" warning message was illuminated. As a result, the contact crashed into the guard rail on the side of the road causing damage to the entire passenger side of the vehicle. No one was injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined that there was no failure. The contact mentioned that the failure continued where there was no power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and case was filed but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 3,400.

The Infotainment/Radio display goes blank or only shows random lines. This problem continues to happen several times per week. When this occurs, the Back up camera does not work which I believe violates FMVSS 208. The vehicle has been taken to the Dealership twice and the issue has not been fixed. The first visit they replaced the Radio/Radio Display and that did nothing to help the problem. The second trip to the Dealership in October 2022 resulted in them stating the problem could be a USB cable and placed it on order and we are still waiting for the part, which was supposedly on back order.

My SUV started stalling a few days ago, but it was only for a short time. Now, it's getting worse, and the engine warning light has turned on. When I try to accelerate by putting gas, it's very slow. I'm worried it could cause an accident. Even when I try to turn, it moves very slowly, which could lead to an accident, and I have two kids. I just bought this SUV last month, and it only has 12,700 miles on it. See the picture here for proof. While diving down a busy highway, the vehicle's check engine light came on with no notice and my daughter lost acceleration and then the vehicle "died" while driving on this busy highway. The steering locked up. She had a hard time getting it to the side of the road. It was a very dangerous situation. If this would have happened a couple days later while driving on the interstate, it could have been deadly and caused a major accident. The vehicle would not start back up and had to be towed. It's already had a fuel pump issue when we first bought it and had that replaced. Now, it's back in the shop and who knows for how long. I bought my daugheter a new vehicle so that we wouldn't have to worry about her being on the side of the road and now I do NOT trust this vehicle as I am seeing this is an ongoing issue with this vehicle. Again, we are lucky that this did not cause and accident and injury or death to others.......

The infotainment center failed completely and does not power on. Because of this failure, I cannot see the front, rear, or side cameras, and there are no audible warning sounds for parking, lane safety, or seat belt alerts. Essentially, none of the safety features connected to the infotainment system are functioning. This failure puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because I cannot see camera views when backing up or parking, and I receive no audio alerts or warnings for seat belts, obstacles, or safety features.

While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, the car suddenly stalled on a city road. This occurred in a busy area with multiple stops and traffic signals. I was accelerating after a stop when the engine cut off abruptly, without any prior warning lights or error messages. I was able to coast to a safe stop, but the incident was frightening and dangerous. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and inspected. They diagnosed the issue as a failure of the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM). The part was not covered under my powertrain warranty despite being essential to the operation of the vehicle. The dealer confirmed this failure and replaced the part. The total repair cost was $592. When I attempted to check my eligibility for the NHTSA Campaign Number 23V013000 (regarding a fuel pump defect that may cause stalling for same 2022 Chevrolet Equinox), my VIN was reported as not currently eligible, even though the issue I experienced matches the recall description. The vehicle has since been repaired and has been operating fine, while I didn’t experience any stalling, I’ve noticed the gear shifts more closely now — they feel very quick or more noticeable than before, but no warning lights have appeared. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety issue I experienced and to request a review of my VIN in light of the recall. A sudden stall on a city road puts drivers and passengers at significant risk, and I believe this is a serious safety concern that should be investigated.

I was put in a rental by enterprise from a rear-end. I was involved while my car was in the shop fixing the trunk. This rental had broken window glass under the passenger seat, and the car started sounding weird when turning and driving. On a morning, that same week dropping off my ex now at her job that same week, on my way back the suv started making the sounds more profound or louder (metal grinding on metal) and immediately after the whole front of the SUV hit the floor making me lose control on the highway 408 and hit the wall while spinning out of control until it stopped in the middle of the highway. I was escorted to a near gas station by one of the cops that came out of the traffic that was on hold. They moved the car to the side and escorted us. From there, my ex's mom checked carfax for the VIN number, which came out to having 4 previous accidents of the same front area. I reported it to the enterprise agent that called me asking about the car being towed, and I explicitly told them I'm not ok and you guys failed to put me in a safe vehicle. From there they charged my insurance for all the damages and never assumed responsibility!

On July 20, 2024 I was leaving a stop sign to pull onto the highway. When I tried to accelerate, my car would not move. The engine attempted to get power, but it would not go. After a few minutes, the car would move but I could not get up to speed as quick as usual. A few days later, I was driving about 30 mph through town, and felt what I thought was my transmission slip, causing me to lose power/speed. On July 24th, I contacted my local GM dealer, and got the car in to get it fix. They told me it was a turbo valve, and changed it. There was no engine lights or clear evidence of what was wrong with my car, but they said that the issue had been fixed by the turbo valve change. I had my car back August 5th. On August 9th, I was going uphill on a highway, and my car lost power again, causing me to lose speed and power. I called the car dealership that worked on my car and told them that it was not fixed. My car did produce a check engine light this time, and I relayed that to the mechanics, and they said that they would look into it. I took it into the dealership that day, and they have been working on it since. The dealership has been in contact with GM, but no progress has been made. It has been in the shop since August 9th, it is currently September 18 and they are not fixing the problem. They say that because there is no engine lights/messages on the dash, that they are unsure of what is going on and how to fix it.

I purchased the vehicle new . When I took it in for a factory recall there was damages to the vehicle and dealer blamed me for it. I purchased it brand new. The dealer has gone out of business and GM and the new dealer will not take care of the factory recall since the damages were done by original dealer that sold it. My air conditioner went out as well and they did fix that. But still not able to fix the hidden damages on the vehicle I purchased new. They want to charge me to fix the damages before they fix the factory recall. I would have never know of the damages if there was no factory recall. Please help. I have been getting the run around since February and the lemon law or anyone will help me.

The car was parked, started up to pull out of the parking space, preceded to back up. The car moved a couple of inches out of the parking space. The car position was half in the parking space and half way in traffic. Then the car locked up with lights appeared on the dashboard, engine light comes on, ESC and car with wiggly lines. The car would not move forward, reversed, nor could I cut off the engine. Was afraid to take foot off brakes since the car would not cut off engine. Call the tow truck and it was towed to the dealer with engine running and lights still on. Dealer said they have not seen this before. After researching ESC lights on Equinox, complaints and concerns has been reported since 2018 on Equinox models. We did not have any problems prior to this nor any warning signs. Brought the car new 2022 Equinox, and this happen with 10, 385 miles on the car. The car never been in an accident. Danger and safety was the car was stuck in the middle of the street and partial in the parking space, making it dangerous for continued traffic and potential accident. The dealer still has the car.

I purchased this vehicle in November 2022, with the understanding that it was not equipped with lane change alert with side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert, but the car would be retrofitted as soon as parts were available and that should be in a short time frame. To date I have not heard from GM or Koons of White Marsh on this retrofit, so I started asking questions. I also visited the sales lot at our dealership Koons of White Marsh and found that these safety features are installed on all 2023 Equinox models - so clearly the parts are available. Koons of White Marsh is saying now that they do not know when or if these safety features will be installed. I wrote a letter to GM's CEO and received two calls from the Executive Support team. First call - we would have part by Q1 2023; 2nd call said they do not know when or if we will receive the part. This missing part is putting my safety at risk as well as others driving around me as I do not have full alerts to the traffic around me.

I lease a 2022 Equinox. February 15, 2023 I was driving from the store and began to pull in my driveway. I live on a dirt, dead end road. I turned the steering wheel and there was no reaction. The car kept going straight. I put on the brakes and the car didn't stop or slow down. I was stopped when I hit my own lamp post and a large rock at the end of my driveway. There was no warning that anything was out of the ordinary. Just no response to the steering wheel and nothing when I applied the brake. There wasn't anything different in the brakes or steering wheel, they felt normal. No pulling, nor sign that the power steering went out. There was just no response to either. Putting the car in park I got out of the car to assess the damage. Some broken trim was the only damage. Put the car in reverse and it worked and I drove up the driveway and parked. Going back to the place of the accident to clean up the mess. The road was dry and conditions were good. No inclement weather. I reported to the McDonald Chevrolet and they towed the car in. The problem could not be recreated and there were no codes. I had no choice but to pick up the car. I wrote on their receipt and mine that I do not feel this car is safe to drive. The mechanics did their best. I called GM support in hopes that they would help and spoke to Maureen. She continually told me that if there was no code showing and it couldn't be recreated there wasn't anything wrong with the car. There could not be a problem. I have 2 more years to drive this car. I refuse to put my grandchildren or my mother in this car because even though it might not happen again, it might. Every time I get ready to make a turn I'm looking ahead to see what I will run into if I lose steering and brakes again. Or I wonder who else will be hurt if these systems fail.

On Friday, 11/04/2022 at about 1230 while traveling South on I-35 in Waco, Texas the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox RS Texas Registration RPW-5038 driven by [XXX] experienced a dangerous incident. She indicated that she heard a loud noise followed by immediate deflation of the driver side front tire. [XXX] was in the left of travel and immediately pulled over to the left shoulder of the roadway. [XXX] then contacted AAA for Assistance. Waco Towing responded to the scene. The vehicle was towed to a safe location for assistance. The subsequent damage was the tire rim was cracked across the middle of it around the whole wheel. The damage looked like a clean break except one part where the rim was bent inwards. There was a dent in the rim’s edge from what appears to be impact damage with the roadway surface possibly caused from the rim breaking apart. There was no other visible damage to the edge of the rim of the tire. The exterior part of the Tire Rim and the tire do not appear to be damaged. The Rim was a 19x7.5 Rim/Wheel. A Replacement rim was ordered from Stonebriar Chevrolet in Frisco, Texas. [XXX] indicated that had she been traveling in any other Lane this could have been a serious incident. In my opinion it appears that there may be a defect with that particular Rim/Wheel which caused the damage and near Serious Motor Vehicle Crash. I am a Retired Bergen County Police Officer in New Jersey. During my career I’ve investigated numerous Motor Vehicle Crashes but None experiencing this type of equipment failure. Upon starting the vehicle multiple warnings went off and vehicle could not be shifted into any position; when attempting to put vehicle back in to Park, would not recognize that it was in Park so the vehicle could not be safely shut off and when turning off the ignition a warning alarm would sound and the display would remain on. Vehicle could not be locked due to being stuck “on”. Blind spot warning constantly detects a vehicle even when there is none rendering the feature useless and possibly confusing other drivers behind me into thinking it is a side mirror turn indicator and not BLIS.

The vehicle was then taken to Rosenthal Chevrolet (6500 Little River Turnpike, Alexandria, VA 22312) where an engineer diagnosed that the vehicle performed as designed and he was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and sent an engineer to Rosenthal Chevrolet to diagnose the vehicle. The failure mileage was 4,772.

The warning lights and e-mail messages came in after the failure.

While driving at approximately 45-50 miles per hour, the engine completely failed. An Engine Failure/Failed/Reduced Power alert message appeared on the dash at the time of the event and the car lost all power, losing speed and coming to a stop. The road was curbed on both sides with no available shoulder or median to access leaving the vehicle stranded in the right, eastbound lane with continuous traffic approaching from behind. My safety and the safety of others were at risk as I was on a 45mph, 4 lane road, with vehicles approaching quickly from behind and having to change lanes to go around my vehicle and avoid an accident. This could have been catastrophic if I'd been on an interstate or in many other situations. I discovered an email from OnStar Diagnostics that was time stamped at the very time I experienced the incident, 8:02am. The email states "An issue with the Engine and Transmission System in your 2022 Chevrolet Equinox has been detected. Please service your vehicle immediately." Also, it was only about 25 degrees and I was afraid to stay in the car due to the continuous traffic. I purchased this vehicle 3 days ago on Wed, Feb 23 and it has approximately 200 miles on it. There were no symptoms prior to the incident today. The vehicle is currently at Bill Estes Chevrolet in Indianapolis, Indiana and will be looked at this Monday, Feb 28th.
