AT 45,000 MI, HAD TO REPLACE ABS HUB SENSOR ASSY DUE TO FALSE ACTIVATION. I HAVE SINCE REPLACE 3 MORE ASSYS COSTING OVER $400 EACH OCCURANCE. AT 100,000 MI, HAD TO REPLACE A LEAKING BRAKE LINE WHICH HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND AT 120,000 MI LOST ALL HYD PRESSURE WHILE BRAKING TO AVOID SEVERAL DEER ENTERING THE ROADWAY. REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES AT A COST OF $1200. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ON BOTH ISSUES, BUT GM WILL NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR EITHER.THIS IS THE 9TH SILVERADO I HAVE OWNED OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS. NEXT ONE WILL BE A FORD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TURNING INTO HIS DRIVEWAY AT 5 MPH, THE BRAKE LINE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT FAILED TO ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT APPLIED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON A DIVIDED 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, SEVERAL DEER RAN IN THE PAT( OF OUR VEHICLE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES, SND THEY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WE SLOWED DOWN BUT WERE UNABLE TO STOP. LUCKILY THEREVWAS NO ONE BESIDE US AND WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID THE LAST DEER BY SWERVING INTO THE LEFT LANE. I COULD ELL THERE WAS NO PRESSURE IN MY BRAKE PEDAL AFTER THAT. WE WERE ABOUT 20 MILES FROM HOME BUT I ONLY HAD 2 MORE STOP SIGNS UNTIL OUR RESIDENCE. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH DIDNT COME ON UNTIL LESS THAN 1/4 MILE FROM MY HOUSE. THERE WAS ALSO AN AUDIBLE ALARM AT THAT TIME. WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND GET STOPPED FROM THERE. THE MECHANIC SAID THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND ONE HAD BURST. THE ADDITIONAL STRESS CAUSE BY THE RUPTURING OF THE LINE THEN AFFECTED THE OTHER LINES. I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES BEFORE IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AGAIN.

THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS WITH THE 2006 SILVERADO AND BOTH RELATED TO THE STEEL BRAKE LINES. A) DURING INNER CITY DRIVING, THE REAR BRAKES FAILED. CAUSE WAS A BROKEN STEEL BRAKE LINE FROM THE ABS MODULE TO THE REAR 'Y' BLOCK. BELIEVE THE LEAK WAS CLOSER TO THE REAR AXLE. NEW STAINLESS STEEL LINE WAS INSTALLED. B) AGAIN DURING INNER CITY DRIVING, THE FRONT BRAKES FAILED. ONE OF THE STEEL LINES FAILED. IT LOOKED LIKE THE ISSUE WAS NEAR THE ABS MODULE. BUT IN REMOVING ALL OF THE REMAINING BRAKE LINES IT WAS HARD TO TELL WHAT WAS THE EXACT FAILURE POINT. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE COATED STEEL LINES ON THE REAR AXLE; ALL OF THE ORIGINAL GENERAL MOTORS LINES WERE IN RUSTED/CORRODED STATE. COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHEN BRAKES APPLIED IN BRAKE SYSTEM. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR BRAKING ACTION. REAR BRAKE LINE RUSTED THRU ABOVE GAS TANK AND EXPELLED ALL BRAKE FLUID WHEN PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WAS NO BRAKING OR SLOWING FROM ANY WHEEL. FLUID WAS ALL OVER TIRE AND AXLE ON THE LEFT REAR. LUCKY THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY VEHICLES DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME AS I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. DEFINITELY READING THE OTHER POSTS ON THE WEB THAT THIS IS NO FLUKE AND DOES NOT NEED TO BE A HIGH MILEAGE VEHICLE. TRUCK IS NOT USED FOR SNOW REMOVAL AND SEES LIMITED DRIVING DURING WINTER MONTHS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ABS SENSOR AND THE HUBS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. On [XXX], at or around midnight, I was traveling [XXX] at approximately 60 mph. The traffic was very light, with few vehicles on the road. It was raining, and I was in the number 1 lane. Two additional lanes were to my left, reserved for toll road traffic. I did not see any other vehicles on [XXX], nor did I see any vehicles to my left in the toll lanes. There was a physical separation between [XXX] and the toll road, consisting of 36-inch plastic candlestick dividers with approximately 10-foot separations. As I was traveling, I suddenly felt a lurch, and the right rear of my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado (Vin# [XXX] ) dropped. My pickup truck immediately began to spin to my left, forcing me into the toll lanes and into the concrete center divider. When my vehicle came to rest, I was facing eastbound in the westbound lanes of the toll road. My lights were no longer except a single amber light flashing, which gave limited warning to approaching vehicles. The California Highway Patrol arrived (unknown why no traffic collision report was taken), my vehicle was removed from the roadway, the right rear wheel and tire had separated from the vehicle and rolled to the right shoulder of [XXX] 150 yards from where my pickup came to rest. The vehicle was towed to the tow yard, where a vehicle inspection was conducted on March 19, 2025. The right rear wheel and tire for some reason were not recovered from the collision scene. The inspection revealed the cause of the collision was a broken/severed axle, not related to driver error. Photographs of the broken axle were taken and are available for review. The axle clearly had a manufacturing defect, poor casting or forging. The defect appeared to be an ongoing problem and separated from the vehicle at the time of the collision for no apparent reason. Depending on the time of day, traffic conditions, and the number of passengers, the collision had the potential to be much worse. ANYTIME A TRAILER IS FIRST ATTACHED, THE TRUCK WILL RANDOMLY GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AS THE TRUCK CAN TO THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN TRAFFIC. IT WILL DO THIS A FEW TIMES UNTIL THE PCM "LEARNS" THERE IS A TRAILER ATTACHED. GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN 06-06-04-042B TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE BY REPROGRAMMING THE PCM. BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY CONCERNS, THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A RECALL. HOWEVER,I HAD TO TAKE THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALER FOR THE UPDATE AND WAS EXPECTED TO PAY FOR THEM FIXING A KNOWN SOFTWARE ISSUE. INSTEAD OF DOING THE UPDATE AT NO CHARGE, THEY MANAGED TO DAMAGE THE PCM WHILE PERFORMING THE UPDATE. THE PCM IS NO LONGER SERVICEABLE AND THE DEALER IS WANTING TO CHARGE ME FOR A REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DAMAGED DURING A CALLED FOR SERVICE BULLETIN UPDATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH A TRAILER HITCH SO THE PROBLEM DIDN'T ARISE UNTIL THE HITCH WAS INSTALLED AND A TRAILER WAS ATTACHED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE COULD BE DETECTED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER (GOSCH CHEVROLET, 400 CARRIAGE CIR, HEMET, CA 92545, (951)-216-3486) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. A LITTLE WHILD AFTER TURNING THE TRUCK OFF I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM INSIDE THE TRUCK. AFTER PUTTING OUT THE FIRE, I INSPECTED THE WIRES TO FIND THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR HAD SHORTED OUT AND CAUGHT FIRE. I HAVE HAD A SIMILIAR ISSUE WITH MY 2003 AS WELL BUT WAS ABLE TO CATCH THE ISSUE BEFORE ANY FIRE BROKE OUT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PART. THANKFULLY NOONE WAS HURT BUT THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE.

I PARKED MY TRUCK THE BLOWER WORKED FINE GOT IN IT 2 HOURS LATTER AND IT DID NOT WORK.THE WIRES TO MY BLOWER MELTED AND HOT ALMOST STARTED A FIRE IN MY TRUCK. NO SMELL NO SIGN OF THE WIRES GETTING HOT. THE ONLY THING I NOTICED WAS THE CONTROL PANEL GOT HOT WHEN IT WAS ON SO I KEPT IT OFF. IF I HAD NOT TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP 2 DAYS AFTER MY BLOWER STOPED WORKING I MIGHT NOT HAVE MY TRUCK. IT MIGHT HAVE CAUGHT FIRE WITH MY KIDS AND I IN IT OR WITH MY 17 YEAR OLD DRIVEING. A RECALL ON THIS PART WOULD BE NICE OR FIND OUT WHY IT IS DOING THIS.

NO ONE WAS HURT AND I MANAGED TO STOP AND TURN OFF THE TRUCK INFO TIME TO STOP FURTHER DAMAGE. THE RESISTOR WAS EXTREMELY HOT YOU THE TOUCH AFTER. on 7SEP 2025 @ 1100 While backing out of my driveway in my 2007 Chevy 3500, the vehicle’s airbag suddenly and unexpectedly deployed without any collision. The airbag struck me in the chest and left forearm, causing immediate injury. Since the incident, I have been experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath. Prior to this incident, I had taken my truck in for service due to concerns about the airbag recall affecting certain GM vehicles. At that time, I was informed by the dealership that my truck was not included in the recall year range. Despite this, the airbag has now malfunctioned in a way that has caused me injury. I attempted to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the GM/Chevy Safety Office to report the matter, but both offices were closed at the time.

On 31 Dec 21, I drove the vehicle to the car wash, after the wash was completed, I drove the vehicle approx. 1/2 mile down the road. I pulled in to a fast food lane to order a meal. While I was stopped that speaker ordering the Air bags deployed. I was not moving or struck my another vehicle. If had happen when I was driving on the hi-way it may have caused injury to myself or damage to other vehicles. The vehicle is currently available for inspection. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer for inspection on 3 Jan 22. There was no warning prior to the deployment of the airbags.

265/75R16 9100 miles driven mostly on pavement with loads well within the vehicle capacity and never off road. Tires were rotated several months prior, about 100 miles ago and damage was not noted. Bubble appeared on sidewall which was noticed while parked; Tire shop dismounted the tire to inspect for possible causes and found nothing to explain damage (run flat, left deflated, road hazard damage). Secondary bubble slightly smaller on inside at same location. Smaller bubbles were felt inside tire and a longer, slight bubble follows the bead 1/3-1/2 of the diameter of the tire. Shop manager refused to remount tire due to risk to employees of catastrophic failure, indicating the tire poses significant safety risk if vehicle had been at highway speed and completed its deterioration. Mate to this tire on right rear shows same smaller bubble above the bead about 1/3 of tire diameter.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 equipped with Continental General Grabber STX tires, tire size 24570R17, DOT Number vynhhm55. The contact stated that all four tire sidewalls had begun to deuterating exposing the white another. The vehicle returned the tires to Walmart where they purchased the tires from who confirmed the tires needed to be replaced. The tires had not been replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vehicle's approximate mileage of 72,000. The tire's approximate failure mileage was 169,000 with the first set of tires purchased and 169,000 miles with the second set of tires. The contact was unsure of which tires had what mileage due to several tire rotations being completed.

DURING A TRIP WITH 6 MONTH OLD TIRES, TWO OUT OF 6 TIRES FAILED. ONE WAS A DEEMED A ROAD HAZARD BY THE MANUFACTURER. GIVEN THESE TIRES WERE PURCHASED AND INSTALLED ON A TOW VEHICLE WITH RATINGS FOR THE VEHICLE AND FAILED ON A 75 DEGREE DAY WITH A LIGHT MIST. I WOULD SUSPECT THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT CAPABLE OF MEETING THE RATED SPECS. THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED JANUARY FROM TREADWRIGHT CORP.

WE HAD A RECALL IN THE PAST ON THE STEERING COLUMN RATTLING. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED IT AND IT HAS STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT IS WORSE THAN EVER. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 59000. MILES ON IT. AND WE WERE TOLD BY DAVIS CHEVROLET IN LEXINGTON NC THAT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED AGAIN. SO I WANTED TO FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT IT.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A DEALER WITH A ONE YEAR CERTIFIED USED WARRANTY AT 49K MILES. WITHIN A MONTH OF PURCHASE I NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FREE-PLAY IN THE STEERING AND NOTICED A LOOSE PITMAN ARM WHEN ROTATING THE STEERING WHEEL AND OBSERVING THIS PART. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS IN THE INDIANAPOLIS AREA. AFTER THEIR INSPECTION AND CONSULTING GM CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, I WAS TOLD FREE-PLAY WAS NORMAL OR WITHIN PARAMETERS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY... THEY TELL ME NOW THAT THESE PARTS (PITMAN ARM / STEERING BOX) WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS TO THE TUNE OF JUST UNDER $2,000. I HAVE DONE MY OWN RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO STEERING ASSEMBLY / PARTS ON THESE TRUCKS. NOTHING I HAVE FOUND SAYS THAT THIS MUCH FREE-PLAY IS "NORMAL" IN REGARDS TO THIS VEHICLE AND IN FACT, SOME FRONT WHEEL AXLES AND WHEEL ASSEMBLIES HAVE ACTUALLY SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. MY WHEELS OR BEARINGS (I SAW FOR MYSELF WHEN IT WAS ON THE LIFT AND I HAVE THE OLD PARTS) HAD A DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF WOBBLE IN THEM, WITH THE RIGHT WHEEL HAVING IN EXCESS OF 1" OF TILT OR LOOSENESS. THE LEFT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNT TORE COMPLETELY THROUGH AND SEPARATED FROM THE MAIN AXLE HOUSING. BECAUSE THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE WAS MOUNTED TO THE SHOCK MOUNT, WHEN THE MOUNT FAILED, THE SHOCK ABSORBER EXTENDED FULLY AND RUPTURED THE BRAKE LINE TO THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. THIS RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 40 AT 65 MPH. AT NO TIME DID THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER ON THE DASH INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. AFTER USING ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKES TO SLOW AND STOP THE VEHICLE COMBINATION, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE MOVED TO A PARKING AREA. UPON SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION, A NOTICE CAME ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER STATING, "SERVICE BRAKES SOON". UPON EXAMINATION, THE MASTER BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 50%. THE LEFT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER, THE BRAKE LINE AND THE SHOCK MOUNTING BRACKET WERE ALL HANGING APPROXIMATELY 4" ABOVE THE PAVEMENT. THE TRAILER BEING HAULED WAS LESS THAN 1/2 OF THE RATED TOW WEIGHT AND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN OPERATED ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM FOR ALMOST 5 WEEKS WITH NO OFFROAD OR HEAVY HAULING. WHEN TEMPORARY REPAIRS WERE MADE AT A WINGFOOT TRUCK CENTER, THE MECHANIC WHO WELDED THE SHOCKMOUNT BACK TO THE AXLE HOUSING INDICATED THAT HE HAD SEEN TWO FAILURES AT THE SAME POINT IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. HE THOUGHT THAT ONE WAS A 2007 GMC 2500 HD AND MY 2500 HD CHEVROLET DIESEL. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT LENLYALL CHEVROLET IN AURORA, CO THERE WAS NO FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM PROPORTIONING VALVE BECAUSE NONE WAS PRESENT IN THE HYDRO BRAKE SYSTEM INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving at a low rate of speed, the contact heard an abnormal, thud-like noise emitted from the vehicle. The contact pulled into an independent tire shop and inspected the tires. The contact found no defect with the tires and chose to proceed with driving the vehicle. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the front passenger-side tire detached from the vehicle without warning. Due to the failure, the vehicle crashed into a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, and the contact sought medical attention for pain in her back. The contact was diagnosed with a sprain to the right side of her neck and right side of her back. The vehicle was then towed to a different independent mechanic, where they determined that the wheel assembly hub had detached from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 07E106000(Wheels) and linked the failure to the recall. The manufacturer was informed about the failure. The vehicle was not repaired but remained in the possession of the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was unknown.

Service Engine Soon light came on while driving. Code P0327 - Knock Sensor 1, Circuit Low Input (Bank 1) shown on code reader. Took vehicle to local service station and had both knock sensors and wiring harness replaced. Mechanic said that the rear knock sensor was corroded due to water getting to the sensor. Drove vehicle for about 2 weeks and service engine light came back on. Took vehicle back to service station where knock sensors were replaced again. Mechanic again stated that the rear sensor was corroded due to water getting to the sensor. Drove vehicle for about 1 week and the Service Engine light has come back on for the third time with the same P0327 code showing.

The Frame has excessive rust especially the crossmembers that are in-between the two main lateral frame beams. In this vehicle they have rotted all the way through and there is nothing left of them and they look like swiss cheese. This particular vehicle also has only 130,000 miles on it which I personally feel is very excessive for them milage. I do understand it is a little older at this point but I have a dodge van and a Chevy sedan both having over 200,000 miles on them. Both also have been driven in West Virginia all winter long with salt exposure that do not show this amount of rust in the frame components. I feel this is a flaw in the manufacturing I have been looking online and it seems to beyond a common problem with this make and model of vehicle.

THERE IS EXTREME FRAME RUST CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE MOUNT TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FRAME WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED ON A SECONDARY ROAD IN SOUTH WEST VIRGINIA. THE SHOCK ABSORBER WAS THE ONLY THING THAT HELD THE SPARE TIRE MOUNT FROM COMING COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM THE TRUCK. I HAVE THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO SEE IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE I AM AWAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM TO SEE IF GM IS GOING TO HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER.

AFTER READING AN ARTICLE ABOUT A PARAPLEGIC WOMAN WHO GOT SEVERELY BURNED BY HER FRIENDS SUBURBAN'S HEATED SEATS, I FIND IT ESSENTIAL TO REPORT THAT I'VE ALWAYS FOUND THAT MY DRIVERS HEATED SEAT SOMETIMES GET EXTREMELY HOT. FORTUNATELY, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN THEM OFF BEFORE ANY INJURIES. THE WOMAN REPORTED NOT KNOWING HOW HER HEATED SEAT GOT TURNED ON. IF HER FRIENDS VEHICLE IS LIKE MINE, AN MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ON MULTIPLE OPEN FORUM WEBSITES, THE HEATED SEATS IN MANY OF CHEVROLET'S TRUCKS AND SUVS ARE KNOWN TO TURN ON THEIR OWN. I HAVE HAD TO UNPLUG MY SEATS DUE TO THE HEATER TURNING ON ERRATICALLY AND CYCLING THROUGH THE 3 HEAT LEVELS ON THEIR OWN. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED ON MULTIPLE WEBSITES THAT PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED TO GM ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND PEOPLE WHOSE VEHICLE WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY HAVE BEEN FORCED TO PURCHASE A VERY EXPENSIVE DOOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY. ALTHOUGH NOT A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME, I CAN SEE HOW THIS ERRATIC BEHAVIOR OF THE HEATED SEATS AND THE POTENTIAL FOR EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURES COULD BE A DANGER TO SOMEBODY WITHOUT ALL THE SENSATIONS IN THEIR LOWER HALF. POWER STEERING FAILS AND SINCE THE POWER STEERING PUMP CONTROLS THE HYDOBOOST IT AFFECTS THE POWER BRAKES OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILS YOU LOOSE POWER BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE MOVES FORWARD AT A BRISK PACE UNTIL YOU FORCEFULLY PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH DOWN WITH ALL THE POWER YOU CAN TO STOP THE TRUCK. VEHICLE SAT AT THE AIRPORT FOR 72HRS. WHEN I LEFT THE AIRPORT, THE BRAKES FELT SPONGY, BUT WERE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ON THE FREEWAY AS I WAS BRAKING, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO FEEL MORE SPONGY, REQUIRING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY RESIDENCE APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES FROM THE AIRPORT, I TRIED TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY, ONLY TO FIND I HAD LOST ALL POWER STEERING ASSIST AND BRAKING ASSIST. I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY TURN IN, BUT HAD TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A FULL STOP. ONCE, STOPPED, I FOUND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. I OPENED THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR CAP, WHICH IMMEDIATELY SPEWED A FEW OUNCES OF P/S FLUID OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, FORTUNATELY NOT ON THE HOT EXHAUST. DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED 2 MILES TO THEIR DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY DID KEEP IT OVER NIGHT AND DECIDE TO CHANGE A P/S PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE EVEN THOUGH THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE ANYTHING. I FILED A COMPLAINT TO GM WITHOUT ANYONE TAKING THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS A REAL PROBLEM. THE REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS BREAKING OUT OF THESE PICKUP TRUCKS BECAUSE OF A WEAK DESIGN TO SECURE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY IN PLACE. THE PLASTIC CLIPS ON THE SIDE OF THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY THAT ATTACHES TO THE SMALL METAL CLIP AND SCREW BREAKS OFF ALLOWING THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY TO FALL OUT OF THE TRUCK BED AND HANG BY THE REAR LIGHT WIRING HARNESS. WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK IT STRIKES A POTHOLE OR ROUGH PLACE IN THE ROAD THE PLASTIC CLIPS BREAK AND THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FALLS OUT OF THE TRUCK. REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FELL OUT. AFTER TALKING WITH GM AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE SAID THAT THEY HAVE VEHICLES ON THE LOT THAT THIS INCIDENT IS OCCURRING TO AND SEVERAL THAT HAVE BEEN PURCHASED THAT THEY ARE REPLACING. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE MINE BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT IF YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ASSEMBLY FALLS OUT AND YOU USE YOUR TURN SIGNAL, THE PERSON BEHIND YOU WOULDN'T SEE IT AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH POSSIBLY A FATAL ONE. 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 EXTENDED 0.5 TON: SPEAR-TIRE LOWERING DEVICE. THE PLASTIC TUBE FROM BUMPER TO SQUARE LOWERING NIPPLE DOES NOT ALIGN. WHEN INSERTING RODE INTO TUBE YOU CANNOT CONNECT WITH NIPPLE. AFTER 25 MIN. IF FISHING AROUND FOR CONNECTION ONE PERSON MUST CRAWL UNDER THE VEHICLE, LOOK THROUGH SMALL HOLE IN RIM OF THE SPARE-TIRE AND WITH THE THIRD LINK OF CRANK RODE PUSH THE TUBE UP AND HAVE THE OTHER PERSON MAKE THE CRANK TO NIPPLE CONNECTION. THE TUBE WAS NOT BROKEN JUST TOO FLEXIBLE AND WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT BY AT LEAST 2 INCHES. ONE PERSON FAR FROM ANY HELP LIKE WE WERE WOULD BE IN TROUBLE. BRAKE LINE RUPTURED DUE TO CORROSION, FORTUNATELY, VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED AT A SLOW SPEED (25) MPH. UPON INSPECTION OF UNDER THE VEHICLE, I WAS APPALLED AT THE CONDITION OF BRAKE LINES,FITTINGS,BRACKETS AND RELATED COMPONENTS. THE RUST ON THE UNDERSIDE INCLUDING THE FRAME WAS SUCH THAT IT COULD BE FLAKED OFF IN 1/16" THICK CHUNKS. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY 9028 MILES, WHAT KIND OF AUTO INDUSTRY DO WE HAVE !!!!! ? I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS CORROSION PROBLEM (THAT CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF) BY A LOCAL AUTO MECHANIC THAT THIS CORROSION PROBLEM WAS IN PRIMARILY (2004-2005-2006) SILVERADOS. THE MATERIALS GM IS USING TO CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS IS A DISGUSTING SAMPLE OF OUR MANUFACTURING SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTDOORS (ON A ASPHALT DRIVEWAY). I HAD FILLED MY GAS TANK JUST OUT OF SAN FRANCISCO AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES JUST OUT SIDE OF CALISTOGA, CALIFORNIA NORTHBOUND ON HWY 29. A WINDING, UPHILL MOUNTAINOUS ROAD, SINGLE LANE TRAFFIC EXCEPT FOR A FEW PASSING LANES AND TURN-OUTS. I WAS DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. I NOTICED SMOKE WISPING BEHIND THE CAB. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, THE TRUCK DIED... RED INDICATORS ON. FORTUNATELY, IT DIED RIGHT AT A WIDE PASSING LANE LOCATION, AND I VEERED TO THE RIGHT, BLOCKING ONE OF TWO NORTHBOUND LANES. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND SAW SERIOUS SMOKE AND SOME FLAME COMING FROM UNDER THE BED OF THE TRUCK, UP BETWEEN THE CAB AND THE FRONT OF THE BED. A VEHICLE BEHIND ME, EVIDENTLY SAW IT ALREADY AND PULLED OVER TO ASSIST. ANOTHER VEHICLE, DRIVING SOUTHBOUND PULLED OVER, HAD AN EXTINGUISHER WHICH I SHOT UNDERNEATH THE BED, BUT IT DID NOT HELP. CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL SHOWED UP. SECURED THE AREA FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO NEUTRALIZE ANY RESIDUAL FIRES AND THE ARRIVAL OF THE TOW TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY BURNED. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN MY 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH 26,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I ATTEMPTED A TRANSIENT LANE CHANGE WHILE TAKING EVASIVE ACTION IN ORDER TO AVOID A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. WHEN COUPLED WITH THE BRAKES I NOTICED LONGER THAN USUAL ENGAGEMENT. AS A RESULT, I WAS FORCED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND HAD TO USE MULTIPLE DOWNSHIFTS IN CONCERT WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A HALT. IT SOUNDED LIKE A TRAIN STOPPING ON RAILS. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME WITH HAZARDS ON,U NEVER EXCEEDING THIRD GEAR. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I NOTICED CLEAR OIL UNDERNEATH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR EXTREMELY INJURED. LASTLY, I HAVE ALSO BEEN NOTICING INCONSISTENCY WITH STEERING RESISTANCE. AIR CONDITIONING FAN CONTROL MELTED, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THERE WAS A STRONG ELECTRICAL FIRE ODOR. I TURNED OFF MY FAN AND WHEN I RETURNED HOME I FOUND THAT THE FAN RESISTOR GM PART# 89019088 AND THE CONNECTOR GM PART# 15862656 HAD MELTED. BARE WIRES WERE VISIBLE AND THE PINS IN THE CONNECTOR WERE TOUCHING. INITIALLY BEFORE THIS OCCURRENCE THE FAN HAD STOPPED WORKING AT THE HIGHEST SPEED THEN THE NEXT LOWEST SPEED AND FINALLY STARTED TO BURN UP. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SOMEONE WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THE ODOR OF BURNING OF AN ELECTRICAL NATURE. I DID REPLACE THE RESISTOR AT A COST OF $55.00 AND NOW NEED TO GET THE CONNECTOR WHICH IS AT A RIDICULOUS COST OF $95.00. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE BUMPER BRACKETS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR HORIZONTAL STRENGTH AND SLIP APPROX A HALF INCH. WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP WHERE INTENDED. THIS DELAYED BRAKING CAN CAUSE REAR ENDING OF THE CAR AHEAD OF YOU OR UNINTENTIONALLY ENTERING AN INTERSECTION. THE TECHNICAL BULLETIN PUT OUT BY GM SUGGESTS THAT THE CAUSE MAY BE DUE TO RUST AND DEBRIS BUILT UP ON THE SENOR MOUNTING SURFACE AND INCLUDES INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING. MY MECHANIC FOLLOWED THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND THEY DID NOT WORK. THE ONLY FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE ALL FOUR SENSORS FOR A COST OF WELL OVER $1000. GM RECALLED 2001 SILVERADO'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEN CONTINUED TO USE THE FAULTY SENORS IN LATER MODELS AND DID NOT RECALL THE 2006. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF 2006 SILVERADO OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AND THEN TO THE FLOOR. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING AND A BRAKE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I GOT THE VEHICLE STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. IT WAS EMPTY. IT HAD BEEN SNOWING THAT DAY AND I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF FLUID HAD FORMED IN THE FRESH SNOW UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, JUST INBOARD AND AFT OF THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL. WHEN I CRAWLED UNDERNEATH AND LOOKED I FOUND WHAT APPEARS TO BE SEVERELY ROTTED BRAKE LINES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A SOLID BRAKE LINE FAIL ON ME BEFORE AND WAS QUITE SHOCKED AT HOW PROGRESSED THE CORROSION WAS. I TAKE CARE OF MY TRUCK AND IT GETS WASHED AND SERVICED REGULARLY. I was driving down the highway at 65 mph and went to slow down and I had no brakes. Resulting in me having to go into the ditch to avoid a collision. After I was able to get the truck to slow down and to a stop I inspected my braking system to find all of my brake lines were rusted out and I had ruptured my brake lines. Since the incident I have had to replace all my brake lines and both of my brake cylinders on the rear of my truck. Now I have minimal brakes after bleeding them and they are slowly coming back. The truck has almost 400,000 miles on the chassis but a new motor. During this event I was getting a grinding coming from the rear differential, after inspection, I found that my gov lock was bad and needed new spider gears which I have since replaced the rear differential with a posi differential and have had minimal problems since.

The auxiliary transmission fuel pump system is prone to failure. This makes it so the start/stop feature will not work, as the vehicle will stall when stopped (causing an unsafe situation), and it cannot pass state inspection. The part is entirely unavailable from Chevy, and results in the vehicle being scrapped. There is no way to permanently bypass this system.

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that upon a vehicle inspection performed by an independent mechanic, it was discovered that the brake line and the fuel line were severely corroded. Upon further inspection, the contact stated that the brake lines had blown out. The contact was informed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that the lines needed to be replaced. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.

IN LATE FEBRUARY 2019, I ACQUIRED A TRUCK FROM A USED DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH BEFORE. UPON OBTAINING THIS VEHICLE I STARTED HAVING ISSUES RIGHT AWAY. FIRST ISSUE I ENCOUNTERED, I WAS DRIVING BACK TO KANSAS CITY FROM LEBANON,MO AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY BRAKES WENT OUT AND MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND TRUCK STARTED JERKING REALLY BAD. I DROVE LIKE THIS ALL THE WAY HOME AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND LOW AND BEHOLD IT'S COST ME $100 TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. SHORTLY AFTER I NOTICED MY TRUCK WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH GETTING UP TO SPEED WHILE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WOULD END UP HAVING THE PETAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD STILL ACT LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE ALMOST LIKE A DELAY AND THEN SLOWLY GAIN SPEED. IT FELT AS IF IT WAS SLIPPING OR IT JUST WASN'T GETTING ANY POWER. MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR HAD WENT OUT WITHOUT ME KNOWING AT THE TIME SO I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM HAD TO DEAL WITH MY OIL PUMP. I FINALLY TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC I USED BEFORE AND HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON MY TRUCK DUE TO HIM NOT FINDING ANY ISSUES BESIDES MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME BACK WITH MULTIPLE CODES AND 3 OF THEM HAD TO DEAL WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I DECIDED TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO MY BROTHER AND HAVE HIM LOOK AT IT FOR A SECOND OPINION. UPON DOING SO HE TEST DROVE AND INSPECTED THE TRUCK ENTIRELY AND CONCLUDED THAT HE DIDN'T FEEL THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK AT ALL. HE RAN HIS OWN DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AS WELL BUT HIS CANE BACK WITH NO CODES THAT CAME UP AT ALL. SO I DROVE OFF CONFUSED BECAUSE OF ALL THE DIFFERENT INFORMATION THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME ON TOP OF THE PROBLEMS I KNEW I WAS HAVING BECAUSE THE TRUCK WASN'T RUNNING LIKE IT DID WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES AND FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. LEFT FROM THE TRAFFIC LIGHT ,AND THE ENGINE JUST STALLED, LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED THAT I HAD A 1\4 TANK OF GAS. SO I HAD IT TOWED HOME ANYWAY. THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT TO START IT WITH NO LUCK. THEN I PUT 2 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TANK, AND THE TRUCK STARTED RIGHT UP. NOW I KNOW THAT THE GAUGE IS 1\4 OF A TANK OFF. SOME AUTO TECHS HAVE TOLD ME THAT WHAT THEY CALL A FUEL CARD THAT IS LOCATED ON THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY IS BAD. WHILE LOOKING OVER MY TRUCK PRIOR TO INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THREE CROSS MEMBERS TOTALLY RUSTED THRU. THE ARE ALSO THE MAIN SUPPORTS FOR THE GAS TANK AND THE SHOCKS. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND REPLACEMENT PARTS AND THE MORE I LOOK THE MORE I HEAR HOW COMMON THE RUSTED CROSS MEMBERS ARE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALERS PARTS DEPT. AND WHEN I ASKED FOR CROSS MEMBERS HE TOLD ME WHICH ONES I NEEDED AND POINTED THEM OUT ON AN ILLUSTRATED BRAKE DOWN. THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT AND IS LIT AS WELL AS THE SERVICE CENTER SAYING IT NEEDS SERVICE, ALSO HAS THE SAME BRAKE PROBLEMS THE 2007 AND UP SILVERADOS WHERE RECALLED FOR WITH THE FAILURE OF THE FRONT ABS SENSORS. THE ABS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT LOW SPEED BECAUSE EVERYTIME YOU STOP THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES AND PULSES UNTIL STOPPED AT 15 TO 20 MPH AND INCREASES STOPPING DISTANCE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS BECAUSE OF A SENSOR FAILURE IN THE FRONT END AREA AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. FROM WHAT I READ ON THE INTERNET THESE ARE WELL KNOWN SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE MODEL TRUCKS. THE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF BRAKE LINES THAT HAVE CORRODED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON FOR THE EVER WELL KNOWN PROBLEM OF THE VACUUM SOLENOID NEAR THE FULL TANK. MY 16 YR OLD SON AND 12 YR OLD SON WERE COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL ON 11/10/2006, MY 16 YR OLD WAS DRIVING, HE TOOK DRIVERS ED AND PASSED THE CLASS WITH AN A+. AND WHEN HE TOOK HIS DRIVING PART OF THE TEST HE PAST WITH A PERFECT SCORE THE FIRST TIME. HE ALSO RACED GOKARTS, SO HE KNEW HOW TO CONTROL VEHICLES AND PREVENT WRECKS. WHEN THE WRECK HAPPENED, THE TRUCK JUST WENT UP AN EMBANKMENT, AND WENT THROW THE AIR AND HIT A TREE AND PEALED THE ROOF BACK LIKE IT WAS A TIN CAN. THERE WAS NO SKID MARKS, THE TIRE TRACKS WENT STRAIGHT UP THE BANK, LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. AND NOT ONE AIR BAG OPENED. THEY WERE LESS THAN A 1/4 OF A MILE FROM HOME. OIL COOLER LINED RUPTURED AND LEAKED OIL ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD, A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD, ESPECIALLY WHEN ALL THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ROTTED AS WELL SO HOT EXHAUST GASES ARE NOT DIRECTED OUT THE EXHAUST, ALSO A CONCERN FOR POISONING OCCUPANTS WITH TOXIC EXHAUST GASES . JUST BEFORE IT CAME OFF WARRANTY (2009) THE COOLANT LINE FROM THE RADIATOR AND THE BRAKE ROTORS (FRONT AND REAR) HAD RUSTED THROUGH. HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE ROTORS AGAIN AND NOW MY BRAKE LINE BURST OPEN AS I WAS DRIVING HOME. ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED (FRAME IS PEELING UP IN LAYERS), THERE IS RUST COMING THROUGH THE BUMPERS, ON THE WHEELS, IN THE BED, INSIDE THE DRIVER'S DOOR - BASICALLY EVERYWHERE I LOOK (I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVROLET IN 2010 ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE RUSTING AND WAS TOLD, AFTER INSPECTION BY LOCAL DEALER, THAT THERE WAS "NO ABNORMAL RUSTING FOUND"). WE BROUGHT OUR 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH AROUND 73,000 MILES ON IT TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR A TUNE UP AND WE WERE TOLD THE FOLLOWING: 'THE FUEL LINES ARE VERY RUSTED (STARTING TO SEEP BACK BY THE TANK AREA) THE BRAKE LINES ARE VERY RUSTED, THE TRUCK WILL NEED REAR BRAKES VERY SOON, ALL BRAKE HOSES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED, THE BLEEDERS ON CALIPERS ARE RUSTED OUT, THE SHIMMY SHOCK IN THE FRONT END IS BLOWN APART, HAS A LOT OF PLAY IN THE IDLER ARM, FRONT SHOCKS RUSTED & LEAKING, REAR SHOCKS RUSTED, REAR END COVER RUSTED, THE TRANSFER CASE TAIL SHAFT IS LEAKING, THE FRAME IS RUSTED & GETTING THIN IN SPOTS, HAS AT LEAST THREE BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS' WE UNDERSTAND THAT BRAKE PADS AND CALIPERS ARE USUAL REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE IS ONLY SIX YEARS OLD AND THE TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE VERY RUSTED. WE CALLED CHEVROLET AND OPENED A CASE TO REVIEW THE RUST ISSUES. WE BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO A DEALERSHIP AS REQUESTED BY CHEVROLET FOR A VISUAL INSPECTION. USING DOCUMENT ID #2758961, THE TECHNICIANS DETERMINED 'NO REPAIR OR CONSIDERATION SHOULD BE GIVEN FOR THIS CONCERN - SURFACE CORROSION ON UNPROTECTED COMPONENTS WILL VARY WITH AGE AND EXPOSURE. CORROSION ON THESE COMPONENTS WILL VARY WITH AGE AND EXPOSURE. CORROSION ON THESE COMPONENTS HAS NO DETRIMENTAL IMPACTS, EITHER IN SHORT OR LONG TERM DURABILITY." HOWEVER, THEY EXPLAINED THAT IF THEY WERE US, THEY WOULD REPLACE THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES. THE CHEVROLET CASE WORKER CALLED THE DEALER AND CONFIRMED THE FINDINGS. I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500, 4-DOOR. I HAD MY WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK. WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION, MY DAUGHTER COULD NOT OPEN HER DOOR (REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR). I CONFIRMED THE DOORS WERE UNLOCKED BY USING THE AUTOMATIC LOCK/UNLOCK FEATURE I HAVE ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, BUT THE DOOR WOULD STILL NOT OPEN. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE ELECTRONIC LATCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE LATCHES WHICH PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM OPENING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON AND A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD STATING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THE TRUCK SHUT ITSELF DOWN TO 10 MILES AN HOUR IN SECONDS. I HAD VEHICLES COMING UP BEHIND ME TRAVELING AT 60 MPH AND HIGHER THAT NEARLY HIT ME FROM BEHIND. EVEN IF I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SPEED UP MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP HAD MY TRUCK 2 DAYS AND CHARGED ME $400.00 FOR AN EMISSIONS PART. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP ON THURSDAY EVENING, JAN. 20, 2011, AND IT BROKEN DOWN THE VERY NEXT MORNING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP AT 6 PM MON MARCH 14 AND IT ALREADY BROKE DOWN AGAIN THIS MORNING MARCH 16, SAME ISSUE. ON TWO OCCASIONS NOW I HAVE HAD MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT, DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE ENGINE DECIDES TO SHUT ITSELF DOWN. ON AUGUST 13TH, 2008 I WENT TO DARRYL BURKE CHEVY TO CONSIDER BUYING A NEW TRUCK AND TRADING MY 2006. DURING THE TRADE IN APPRAISAL, THE SALES MANAGER ASK IF THE VEHICLE HAD EVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT? I INFORMED THAT NO IT HAD NOT. HE SAID THE TIRE, SAFETY, AND PARTS LABEL VIN DID NOT MATCH THE VIN IN THE WINDSHIELD. I LOOKED AND WITNESSED THE SAME INFORMATION. THE SALES MANAGER SAID THAT THIS WOULD DRASTICALLY EFFECT THE TRADE IN VALUE OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT APPEARS THAT REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN USED. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THIS MUST HAVE OCCURRED IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS BECAUSE THERE ARE 2 OTHER VEHICLES WHICH WERE SHIPPED TO OTHER STATES THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAVE THE LABELS ON THEM THAT SHOULD BE ON MY VEHICLE. THE NATIONAL INSURANCE CRIME BUREAU HAS EXAMINED THE OTHER VEHICLES AND DETERMINED THAT THE MANUFACTURER CAUSED THIS MISHAP. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE SHIMMIED IN THE FRONT AND REAR AT 40-60 MPH. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE REAR VIEW AND PASSENGER SIDE MIRRORS DUE TO THE SEVERE VIBRATION. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRAME ON THE 1999-2006 MODEL YEARS OF THESE VEHICLES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR WAS HARD TO SHUT. I BOUGHT A 2006 SILVERADO EXT CAB LT3 AT THE END OF FEBRUARY 2006. IN MARCH HEADLINER CAME DOWN. REPLACED TWO WEEKS LATER. SIX WEEKS LATER HEADLINER CAME DOWN AGAIN THE SECOND TIME. REPLACED HEADLINER ONE WEEK LATER. TWO DAYS AFTER REPLACING HEADLINER, IT CAME DOWN THE THIRD TIME. I CONTACTED AREA REP TO HAVE HIM RESEARCH THE HEADLINER ISSUE (WHICH I ALREADY WENT TO TWO OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND THEY ARE SELLING THESE TRUCKS WITH THE DEFECTED HEADLINERS AND KNOWINGLY SELLING THEM). I WAITED A FULL MONTH THEN WENT FOR ANOTHER REPLACEMENT WHICH TOOK TWO WEEKS TO COME IN. ONE WEEK LATER HEADLINER COMING DOWN AGAIN THE 4TH TIME. AREA REP SAID HE PUT IN A TSB TO SHOW IT IS A DEFECT THAT THE HEADLINERS ARE CUT TOO SHORT. I CHECKED ON NHTSA AND NO TSB'S ARE LISTED ABOUT A SILVERADO HEADLINER. PEOPLE HAVEN'T NOTICED THIS BECAUSE IT ISN'T OBVIOUS. YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE TOP OF YOUR OPEN DOORS WHERE THE HEADLINER MEETS THE RUBBER GASKET AND YOU WILL SEE THE CUT OF THE FABRIC OF THE HEADLINE AND THE MOLDED HEADLINER PIECE WITH IT. I'VE CALLED AREA REP AND IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS AND NO RETURN CALL. I WAS TOLD IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACTORY SUNROOF EITHER. IF THE FACTORY KNOWS THE HEADLINER'S ARE DEFECTIVE WHY DO THEY KEEP SENDING THE ONES THAT ARE DEFECTIVE INSTEAD OF WAITING TILL THE RIGHT ONES COME OUT? *JB

IN NOV. OF 2005 I PURCHASED A CHEVROLET SILVERADO, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAVE HAD THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE FRONT ONCE, ALSO THE FUEL SYSTEM HAD A PROBLEM, NOW THEY TELL ME THAT I NEED ALL TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE THE COMPOUND IS BAD. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 7,000 MILES ON IT!*JB

CONSUMER WAS SOLD A 2006 SILVERADO WITH ENGINE DAMAGES. *TS ***NAR*** WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM WHAT HE HAD DISCOVERED WIT THE ENGINE COWLING, THEY HAD ADVISED HIM IT WAS SQUIRREL DAMAGE. EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM, THEY REFUSED TO GIVE THE CONSUMER ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER AND HIS FAMILY HAD BECOME SICK. THEY BELIEVED IT WAS FROM THE BACTERIA COMING FROM THE VENTING SYSTEM. THE FRONT TIRES WERE OUT OF ROUND AND THE RIMS WERE BENT. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING INTO A DRIVEWAY AT A SPEED OF 5 MPH THE VEHICLE HIT A POTHOLE DETACHING THE CENTER BOLT ON THE REAR AXLE. THIS CAUSED THE AXLE TO SLIDE BACK 8 INCHES FROM THE SPRING. THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS NO RECOURSE OF ACTION. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANICS. UPDATED 8/15/2006 - *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTICED, THE UNDER HOOD SHIELD WAS RIPPED AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS SCRATCHED. THE TREAD WAS SEPARATING FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE IN CHUNKS. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE UNDER HOOD DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A SQUIRREL. ALTHOUGH THE DEALER WAS ALERTED NO ADDITIONAL INSPECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MADE A RATTLING NOISE AND SHOOK WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON BUMPY ROAD CONDITIONS. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S SEAT MADE A SQUEAKING NOISE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
