The contact owned a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 MPH and making a right downhill turn, he crashed into the rail guard before impacting a tree where the vehicle came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated. No air bags deployed. The contact was concerned about whether the air bags should have deployed for the type of impact experienced. The contact stated that the Driver's side seat belt had locked. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss and towed to a local tow yard, where it remains. The contact fell unconscious due to the impact and was rushed to a local medical center via helicopter. The contact sought medical attention for injured knees, 7 fractured ribs, a broken right arm, and was left bedridden. A police report was not filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 278,000.

Truck was purchased in June 8, 2021. I have had zero accidents , was assured it was not a salvage vehicle it displayed no warning lights I begin to received the notices, the warning light started to come on from time to time, took the truck to our local Gosche Chevy Dealer. I was informed that it has an airbag for a 2500 Truck and they will not replace it. I have not been in any accident with this vehicle. What am I to do, as I am a retired cancer /heart issues stricken senior citizen and this repair is not in my month to month budget and my only transportation for my medical appointments

I started by vehicle and as soon as it started, I felt and heard a very loud explosion under the seat, and the seat belts retracted extremely tight. Then I noticed the airbag light on the dashboard. Smoke filled the cab of the truck. Then I realized the airbag module under the seat had exploded.

Went to my local chevy dealership for them to fix the recall for my passenger air bag, less than a year later the airbag light came back on. i went to have it looked at and they told me it would be $145 to even see if it was the same problem, so now i have service airbag light and the recall was never fixed?

The front passenger side air bag inflator ruptured sending particles and other debris throughout the passenger cabin while driving in city traffic, it is available for inspection, I feel like my safety and that of others was put at risk by the manufacturer not notifying me upon purchase, titling, and registration that this vehicle was the subject of a safety recall involving the air bags on this model, it posed a potentially life threatening risk to operate or be a passenger inside this vehicle and nothing has been inspected by anyone yet, it just happened a few hours ago, there was no warnings or messages prior to incident occuring unexpectedly. Something sounded as if it literally blew up inside the truck, thankfully I had no passengers at the time, it scared me badly, as I thought someone had hit me with their vehicle, after the explosion, the OnStar telephone symbol illuminated on the mirror and the radio silenced itself, and the emergency flashers turned on by themselves and there appeared to be smoke pouring from the passenger side of the cabin but turned out to be the air bags powder residue.

Cracked dashboard extending from air bag compartment. Cracked dashboard extending from drivers side windshield up to instrument cluster. This truck spends most of its time in the garage and has less than 100,000 miles. First crack appeared around 40,000 miles and second around 88,000 miles.

My 2008 Silverado has rusted and cracked frame and doesn’t pass inspection I am [XXX] and on SSI disability and can not afford to pay for repairs, the truck runs great and has 158,000 miles on it I traded in a 1999 Silverado and it had 240,000 miles on it with no rust and no issues whatsoever should of kept that, I am very upset and disappointed with this truck, can you please reach out to me and help me out any way you can. The frame of my vehicle is rusted out almost completely.I am concerned about my safety and the safety of others if I drive it on the highway ,I have taken great care with my truck I only have around 70,000 miles on it and a frame should last a lot longer than this one has, and I have read other peoples complaints about this vehicle also,I would appreciate any help you can offer me.I have no files to upload or any accidents to report I’m just extremely concerned about driving this vehicle with the frame in the condition it’s in.Thank You

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while the husband was driving, a warning message indicating the hood was unlatched had been displayed and the front headlights were not operable. Smoke was seen coming from under the hood and after lifting the hood to inspect the engine compartment flames and smoke were present. The husband extinguished the flames with water and the vehicle was pushed to a work sight. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the battery cable and electrical wiring harness were melted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The fire department was not called to the scene. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the check engine, the stabilitrak, the service trailer brake system, and the seat belt warning lights were illuminated before the vehicle began to decelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle turned off and back on independently. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure and parked on the side of the road for 30 minutes before restarting the vehicle and continued driving to his destination. The contact stated he had experienced the failure on 3 different occasions. The contact took the vehicle to two different independent mechanics and the second location informed him that the chassis electronic control module needed to be replaced. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with Manufacturer Communication Number: 14515B however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Yes the warning light came on before the air bag was replaced, If the waring light comes it indicates that the airbag is faulty, why is it going to cost me $791 to repair the sensor. Is this not a problem that should be resolved, as the airbag wont work if the sensor is not fixed. The air bag was replace At George Nahas on January 8th. At the time we were not told that the airbag would not work because the light was on. It was much later that a friend (mechanic) told me that the bag would not work if the light was on. Thus we contact Feldman and were told that the cost would be $791. Why replace the bag is it not going to work

CAR WAS PARKED. DOOR LOCKED WITH REMOTE WHILE PERSON WAS IN THE CAR WITH DOORS AND WINDOWS CLOSED. UNABLE TO OPEN DOORS MANUALLY FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. UNABLE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK DOORS FROM INSIDE OR ROLL WINDOWS DOWN. PERSON INSIDE WAS TRAPPED AND UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. PUSHING THE DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON DID NOT WORK, NOR DID MANUALLY ILFTING THE DOOR LOCK. ONLY WAY OUT WAS BY UNLOCKING THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE.

Took truck in for fuel pump module upon dropping the fuel tank the mechanic discovered the frame was rusted thriugh and cracked! After investigating online i see this is a very common problem and they should be held accountable. Rest of truck looks pretty good for the year i purchased with 55000 miles on it and had it oil sprayed every year

While driving uphill in my 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, I experienced a sudden and dangerous loss of power, accompanied by a flashing check engine light, ticking noise, and loss of oil pressure. The engine began to shake violently and I nearly rolled backward into another vehicle before I was able to shut it off. After restarting the truck, it began jerking and misfiring, making it completely undriveable. The issue occurred without warning and required a tow. Symptoms Observed: •Low oil pressure warning •Ticking/knocking noise from engine •Engine shaking and loss of power •Jerking and severe misfire when restarted •Flashing check engine light •Diagnosed failed/stuck AFM lifter in cylinder 6 •Engine misfire isolated to cylinder 6 (confirmed by unplugging ignition coil with no change) •Oil consumption and burning smell over prior months •Possible camshaft damage due to lifter failure Shops Involved: 1.Pep Boys (North Clairemont, San Diego) – Charged $400 and claimed to fix the issue, but symptoms returned immediately. 2.Rosecrans Automotive (San Diego) – Confirmed the issue is likely due to AFM system failure (collapsed lifter/cam damage). Estimated repair cost: $4,500+. Additional Impact: •Required towing after complete loss of drivability •Rental car for over a week (ongoing) •Potential lost income due to inability to commute to work •Total cost between diagnostics, failed repair, and upcoming repairs is significant Safety Concerns: •Sudden power loss occurred while climbing a steep hill—nearly caused a rear-end collision •Jerking, misfire, and engine instability made it unsafe to control •No prior warning; failure happened instantly Why I am reporting: This is clearly a systemic issue with GM’s Active Fuel Management system, especially in 5.3L V8 engines like mine. CYLINDER #4 HAS FAILED. SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE STATED THAT THEY SEE SEVERAL OF THESE FAILURES WITH ENGINES EQUIPPED OR PROGRAMMED WITH THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS. MY ENGINE FAILURE OCCURRED UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, 55MPH ON A FARM TO MARKET ROAD TRANSITIONING FROM FLAT ROADS ONTO A SLIGHT RISE WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING VERY NOTICEABLY ROUGH. I PULLED OVER AND THE ENGINE UNBALANCE WAS VERY APPARENT.

Started out by sometimes not going into PARK, but now, Transmission will NOT go into PARK. This is hilly country, and I am concerned that the vehicle could roll away, although the parking brake has worked so far. When I park in my driveway, the rear (parking) brakes groan and slip just a little. So far, nobody has been killed.

WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 11/09/2016 AND ON 1/22/2017 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH NO INDICATOR LIGHT ON. TRANSMISSION MASTERS STATED THERE IS WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO A FAULTY RADIATOR AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS BURNT.

ALL FOUR DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK BY PRESSING THE LOCK BUTTON ON EITHER FRONT DOORS OR BY USING THE REMOTE WHEN STOPPED. IT SCARES ME AS A PARENT OF A SEVEN YEAR OLD THAT THE DOORS MAY NOT LOCK WHEN NEEDED AND MY CHILD COULD ACCIDENTALLY OPEN THE DOOR WHEN DRIVING ANYWHERE AT ANY SPEED. FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS THIS REALLY CONCERNS ME BECAUSE IF WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT WHAT IF THE DOORS COULDN'T UNLOCK BY BUTTON OR MANUALLY OR LOCK TO KEEP PASSENGERS IN WHILE DRIVING. TWO CRACKS IN THE DASH HAVE FORMED. ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ONE ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. THE CRACK ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE TRAVELS FROM THE DASH AIR BAG TO THE TOP JOINT BETWEEN THE TWO DASH PIECES. THE CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE TRAVELS FROM THE JOINT BETWEEN THE TWO DASH PIECES TOWARDS THE DRIVER ALONG THE LEFT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PORTION OF THE DASH. NOTICE THE CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEN SITTING STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THEN FINDING THE CRACK ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE.

SEVERE DASH CRACKING, HAS ABOUT 5-6 MAJOR CRACKS, INCLUDING AROUND THE AIRBAG AREA. CONCERN FOR HOW THE AIRBAG MIGHT CAUSE PIECERS OF PLASTIC TO INJURE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE IF THE AIRBAG WAS TO DEPLOY. VERY CONCERNED WHEN I HAVE THREE KIDS DRIVING IN THE TRUCK. I SPOKE WITH THE OWNER AND THEY ARE INCURRING SOME OF THE COST, BUT AFTER THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THE BACK BRAKES ARE ALSO WORN. THE TRUCK HAS 39,700 MILES AND ALL THE BRAKES ARE BEING REPLACED, FRONT AND BACK. I HAVE ALWAYS COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT MY BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THEY ALWAYS CAME UP WITH SOME SORT OF EXPLANATION TO JUSTIFY THE NOISE. THOUGH MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES MAY BE WORKING JUST AS THEY WERE DESIGNED, THEY SEEM TO INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER WHAT WOULD BE ATTAINED WITH JUST THE WHEELS LOCKING UP AND SLIDING OR SKIDDING. ON DRY PAVEMENT, STOPPING POWER OF THIS TRUCK IS FANTASTIC UP TO THE POINT WHEN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATE, THEN ITS AS IF THE BRAKES ALMOST COMPLETELY RELEASE THE WHEEL THEN REACTIVATE THE BRAKE TO THE POINT IT STARTS TO SKID THEN RELEASES IT COMPLETELY AND SO ON AND SO ON. THIS ACTION OF COURSE HAPPENS VERY QUICKLY, BUT SEEMS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER ANTI LOCK VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED. BECAUSE OF THIS CYCLE OF COMPLETELY RELEASING THE BRAKES THEN HITTING THEM SO HARD THEY INSTANTLY LOCK UP THEN RELEASING THEM AGAIN, THE STOPPING DISTANCE SEEMS GREATLY EXAGGERATED. ON A REDUCED TRACTION SITUATION SUCH AS SNOW, ICE, OR DIRT, ITS AS IF THE BRAKES DON'T WORK AT ALL. AS I STATED IN THE OPENING STATEMENT, THIS TRUCK HAS WONDERFUL BRAKES UP TO AND UNTIL THE POINT OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, SO WHEN THIS OCCURS IT IS QUITE SHOCKING. AS FOR MY BRAKING TECHNIQUE, I'VE BEEN TOLD AND HAVE FOLLOWED THE ADVICE THAT ONCE THAT ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATE, YOU KEEP FIRM STEADY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I'VE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE RECENT ICE AND SNOW IN OUR AREA TO TEST AND CONFIRM THAT I AM USING PROPER TECHNIQUE IN USING THE BRAKES AND I'M MORE CONVINCED THAT THIS SYSTEM IS CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT SOLVES. I WOULD RATHER HAVE STANDARD BRAKES THAN THIS. I BELIEVE IT WOULD BE IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST IF THIS SYSTEM WERE CHECKED BY SOMEONE WITH THE ABILITY TO CONFIRM THAT THESE BRAKES MEET THE SAFETY STANDARD EXPECTED BY SAFETY REGULATORS OVER SEEING THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT TAKING THIS VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS GOING TO SOLVE ANYTHING, IN THAT I EXPECT THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME THAT THEY ARE WORKING FINE.

Frame rotted through on left side by gas tank back to front of rear spring shackle, rear center tube support broken on both sides allowing rear shock brackets to rub brake lines and wiring harness. The rest of the frame has perforation and excessive rust scaling.

AMANDA SAID SHE WOULD CHECK WITH HER MANAGER TO DETERMINE IF THE PART WAS AVAILABLE TO SCHEDULE THE FIX BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED. I DECIDED TO CALL CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER (1-800-222-1020) AND I SPOKE WITH JANE. JANE EXPLAINED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BUT YOUR WEB SITE AND CHEVROLET WEB SITE (HTTP://MY.GM.COM/RECALLS) STATE THAT MY VEHICLE IS PART OF THE 'TAKATA RECALL'. The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the following day, while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. Additionally, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact used a diagnostic machine and retrieved several codes indicating electrical failures. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the engine had been replaced twice. The contact stated the last engine was replaced in 2021. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

T ruck left my wife totally stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. It was running but would not accelerate. I ran the codes and 2 codes that has never popped up before was P1682 and P2138. One said it could be the ignition and the other said it could be accelerator position sensor on gas peddle. My mechanic said this is a communication problem where the wires go into the ECM. Bad connection or moisture getting in. I have had a few wonky codes pop up that we believe to be bad connections. GM NEEDS TO GET THIS RECALLED AND RESOLVED. Trucks just stopping in the middle of the highway and in traffic is super dangerous. After i pushed on connection going into ecm, it started and I have not been able to duplicate code. We will see once it rains if it comes back. Way too many computers running these cars. A computer should never be involved with the running of engine, acceleration, braking or steering. KEEP THE COMPUTERS FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS!

I WAS ON HIGHWAY 84 PASSING ANOTHER CAR AT SPEED 75 MPH THE DOOR LOCKS STARTED CAME ON AND OFF, THE SAFETY BELT LIGHTS CAME ON, THE ENGINE STARTED TO SLOW AND SPEED UP, THE CLOCK WENT FROM 4:00 PM TO 12:00 PM, THE DATE WENT TO 01/01/2004, THE A/C STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR. I STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER AND TURNED IT OFF, EVERYTHING STOPPED ONLY THE ABS LIGHT STAYED ON. I CALLED ONSTAR TO CHECK WHAT'S WRONG, THEY SAID EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD, CHECK THE TIRES, IF THE TIRES ARE GOOD, YOU ARE GOOD TO DRIVE. ALL TIRES WERE 33PSI. I RESET ALL THE ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONS AND WENT HOME. I WAS IN DANGER FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES IN THE LEFT LANE PASSING ANOTHER CAR.

THERE WAS A VERY STRONG GASOLINE SMELL WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING. WHILE LOOKING FOR THE SOURCE, I NOTICED FUEL SPRAYING OUT UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINE THAT WAS LEAKING. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A DEIGN FLAW, A DEFECT IN THE PART OR POOR WORKMANSHIP, BUT IT COULD HAVE HAD SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES IF THE FUEL HAD IGNITED, WHICH WAS POSSIBLE WITH THE PRESSURE AND VOLUME OF THE LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES FOR AN IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

Purchased truck in Massachusetts for 13,000.00 and on the outside it was a beautiful truck. Frame is completely rotted and I was never able to get it inspected and I have no vehicle and no way to repair or replace it.

As with many chevrolet trucks the frame and cross members have rust to the point that they are breaking off. This is a major safety concern as the support the fuel tank and suspension mounts. It is also a major concern to the structural integrity of the truck. No it has never been inspected by anyone else, as it don't need to be it is very obvious on all GM trucks.

Vehicle is in the shop at 191,000mi for Rear Shocks, Front Struts, an alignment and oil change as of Wednesday (07/19/2023), at approximately 16:14 EDT, the shop contacted me and notified me that the mechanic, when he was installing the new driver-side shocks, went to secure the shock, only for the entire sub-frame assembly that holds the exhaust manifold, fuel tank and shock in place, "shattered" in front of him. I have been informed that I was "One good pothole away" from having a catastrophic failure which could have caused a wreck, and potentially loss of life.

Vehicle abruptly malfunctioned (lose of power) while sitting at the traffic light during a heavy storm. Fortunately, I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, which gave me enough engine power to get a a safe place. I had the vehicle towed to Love Chevrolet, Columbia, SC. Dealership stated the entire wiring harness needed to be replaced. The replacement cost would be $3500. They also stated the wiring harness for this vehicle has been discontinued and I have to take the vehicle to an electrical shop to be fixed.

THE PROBLEM WAS NOT WITH THE AIR BAG, BUT THE FRONT SWITCH THAT ACTIVATES THE AIR BAGS UPON IMPACT. WHEN ONE OR BOTH FAIL THE TEST WHEN YOU TURN THE IGNITION ON, IT POSTS A MESSAGE SAYING SERVICE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THERE IS LOTS OF INFORMATION REGARDING THIS ON UTUBE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I AM AN ELECTRICIAN AND AN ELECTRONICS TECH, I KNOW THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT ACTIVATE IF THE CRASH IS ON THE SIDE WITH A BAD AIR BAG. I HAD 2 BRAKE LIGHT SWITCHES GO OUT, AT WHICH TIME THE PERSON BEHIND ME,WOULD HAVE NO IDEA, I WAS BRAKING. THE SWITCH IS A 2 PART SWITCH, ONE PART CONTROLS THE BRAKE LIGHT, THE OTHER ENABLES OR DISENGAGES THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM.

TAKATA RECALL # 16V381. I BOUGHT THIS CHEVY NEW AND WAS DRIVING TO LOUISIANA. MY MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 35,955 MILES. THE RED COLORED SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TO CLOSE TO THE 36,000 MILE MARK FOR WARRANTY COVERAGE TO MAKE IT TO SHREVEPORT, LA. SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK WITH THE LIGHT ON. I HAVE ASKED DEALERSHIPS IF THEY SEE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS ASKED FOR A COMMITMENT FOR UNKNOWN AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO CHECK AND REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE TRACTION STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH BRAKE LIGHT. THE DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATED AND ALL DASH BACKLIGHTING WENT OUT. AFTER SHUTTING OFF ENGINE, ALL ELECTRICAL POWER SHUT OFF TO INCLUDE THE CLOCK ON THE RADIO. I CHECKED BATTERY CONNECTIONS AND AFTER WIGGLING THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE, THE POWER CAME ON. THE CLOCK WAS SET TO 12:00, AND THE A/C WAS RESET TO 74. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT. AFTER SEVERAL INCIDENTS, MY TRUCK ACTUALLY STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION AND I HAD TO STOP IN THE ROAD TO ADJUST THE BATTERY CABLE. I HAVE HAD APPROXIMATELY 20 INCIDENTS OF SIMILAR NATURE, EACH TIME WITH INCREASING SYMPTOMS. AT ONE POINT, THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE A/C OVERHEATING CAME ON. ALSO, THE BATTERY AND CABLES BECOME EXTREMELY HOT, AND STAY HOT AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL THE CABLE IS READJUSTED. I HAVE READ SEVERAL FORUMS LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION, AND HAVE CONCLUDED THE MOST LIKELY SOURCE IS A FAILING POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V050000 (Air Bags); however, the contact was informed that the instrument panel failed to allow access to the odometer and the recall repair was denied. The dealer informed the contact that for the recall repair to be completed, an odometer reading was required. The contact stated that the instrument panel was functioning intermittently. The contact was concerned that the recall repair was not related to the odometer failure and provided the dealer with an approximate mileage; however, the recall remedy was still denied. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 178,002.

HI THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE WORST TRUCK I EVER OWNED I HAVE SUNK OVER 5K INTO IT IN REPAIRS THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT WENT ON OVER A YEAR AGO WEN I FIRST GOT THE TRUCK MY GARAGE TOLD ME THERE WERE RECALLS ON IT I TOOK IT TO A DEALER THEY FIXED 1 BUT REFUSED TO FIX THE AIR BAG RECALL LIGHT MY GARAGE TOLD ME ITS UNSAFE AND DEALER SHOULD REPAIR MY GARAGE SED METAL COULD KILL ME AND BAG COULD GO OFF AT ANY TIME I TOOK THE TRUCK TO SPURR CHEVY IN BROCKPORT AND HARTWAY CHEVEY IN MEDINA AS WELL AS CHEVY DEALER IN ROCHESTER AND BATAVIA ALL TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX AND TO KEEP DRIVING I DID AND THINGS JUST GOT WORSE I KEEP GETTING STRANDED AND THE TRUCK LOOSES POWER BECAUSE THE CONSTANT WARNING SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT I HAD TO CALL AAA AND GET TOWED A BUNCH AND GET JUMP STARTS I HAVE A 18 MONTH OLD CHILD THIS TRUCK IS NOT SAFE AND THIS IS EFFECTING THE TRUCKS COMPUTER THE COMPLETE MUFFLER FROM ENGINE BACK INCLUDING CONVERTERS WAS REPLACED AT DEALER BY PREVIOUS OWNER PASSED INSPECTION FIRST YEAR I HAD IT NOW IT WILL NOT PASS GET MESSAGES LIKE ECM NOT COMMUNICATION CODES FOR DEALER ETC I TOOK IT TO DEALER IN BROCKPORT THEY RESET COMPUTER CODES WERE CLEAR FOR 2 HOURS BY TIME I GOT TO INSPECTION SHOP ALL CODES WERE BACK THIS THING IS DANGEROUS I SMELL ODD ELECTRIC SMELL BY AIR BAG ALMOST LIKE SOMETHING BURNING AND ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAD THE DAMB WHEEL BERINGS ON BOTH SIDES WENT THE ONE SIDE STARTED MAKING A NOISE I TRIED TO GET HOME TURNED ON TO MY RD AND THE WHOLE FRONT WHEEL BREAK ROTOR AND ALL LUGS CAME OFF WITH BEARING I WENT SKIDDING 400 FEET DOWN THE ROAD THE DAM BEARING IS JUST PRESSED IN WHEN THEY GO THE WHOLE FRONT FALLS OFF YOU CAN NOT STEER I HAVE FIXED EVERYTHING ON THIS TRUCK AND STILL NOT SAFE TO DRIVE NEW BREAKS ROTORS PADS TIRES RIMS FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT ALL NEW AC ALL NEW EXAHUST EVERYTHING IS NEW BUT THE DAM AIR BAG IS MALFUNCTIONING I AND

A BATTERY ICON COMES ON MY DASH WITH A MESSAGE ABOUT THE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR DRIVING THIS COMES ON FOR LONG ENOUGH TO READ THEN GOES OFF. THE TIRES PRESSURE SENSOR IS GIVING A MESSAGES AS WELL ABOUT NEEDING SERVICING. THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT LATCH HAS STOPPED ALLOWING THE CLIP TO ENTER I WAS PARKED AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED. FIRST INCIDENT WITH THE ENGINE OCCURRED LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. AT ROUGHLY 88K MILES I NOTICED A SKIP IN POWER/TORQUE ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING UPHILL AT A CONSTANT SPEED, A LIGHT LOSS OF POWER WAS NOTICED VERY BRIEFLY AS IF ONE CYLINDER WAS MISSING. LESS THAN 100 MILES LATER THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. I HAD THE ENGINE CODE READ AND CYLINDER 7 WAS MISFIRING. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH 3 DAYS LEFT ON MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY (THANK GOD RIGHT?), WRONG. FOR WHATEVER REASON AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. BUT THE LEAKING AND FAILING BRAKE SYSTEM WAS COVERED. ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THE LIFTERS HAD FAILED WHICH COSTED ME A GRAND TO FIX LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. EXACTLY ONE YEAR AND ROUGHLY 20K MILES LATER THE TRUCK DEVELOPED A LOUD TICK RIGHT AFTER STARTUP. ITS NOW IDLING VERY ROUGH, RPM GAUGE DOES NOT STAY CONSISTENT AT IDLE AND AT ONE POINT DROPPED ALMOST TO 0, TRUCK ALMOST SHUT OFF AND THEN JUMPED BACK UP. AFTER SPEAKING WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ABOUT IT HE PROPOSED IT WAS THE CAM FROM HIS PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. IT SEEMS THE INCORRECT MATERIAL WAS USED ON SOME OF THE CAMS CONSTRUCTION ("SOFTER METAL"). THIS MECHANIC TOLD ME IT CAN PUT AN INDENTION IN THE CYLINDER WALL AND CAUSE THE VALVES TO MALFUNCTION, IN TURN CAUSING THE LIFTERS TO FAIL. SO IF THIS IS TRUE WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PART? EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES INCLUDING BIG COMPANIES, THEY'D BE A LOT MORE RESPECTABLE IF THEY CORRECTED THEIR MISTAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN AGAIN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER, BOTH REAR BRAKE HOSES, THE WHEEL CYLINDER, THE FRONT CYLINDER, THE BRAKE MONITOR VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A SUDDEN BANGING AND RATTLING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A PISTON IN THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AFTER HAVING DRIVEN VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE FOR AN APPOINTMENT, TRUCK WOULD NOT START AN HOUR LATER; HOWEVER, LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. I WAITED 10 SECONDS AND TRIED IT AGAIN, AND IT STARTED NO PROBLEM. THEN NO PROBLEM STARTING THE NEXT TIME BUT DRIVING AROUND TOWN THE RADIO START SHUTTING OFF FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS BEFORE COMING BACK ON. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES, THEN AS I AM DRIVING, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTS GOING HAYWIRE, LIGHTS FLASHING ON DASH WITH WARNING LIGHTS & MESSAGES GOING OFF ON DASH, THEN EVERYTHING BUT THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF (DASH LIGHTS, GAUGES, RADIO AND A/C), AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS EVERYTHING COMES BACK ON. I IMMEDIATELY DRIVE TO MY MECHANIC WHO HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER TO MY TRUCK AND SAID IT WAS MY IGNITION SWITCH. HE SAID HE COULD NOT GET ME IN THAT DAY AND ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK THE NEXT DAY. SO THE REST OF THAT DAY I DID NOT HAVE ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND GOT THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED. WHILE THE MECHANIC HAD MY TRUCK FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL I COULD GO BACK TO PICK IT UP, HE SAID HE STARTED IT MANY TIMES AND IT APPEARED TO BE FIXED. SO I LEAVE THE MECHANIC SHOP AND GO BACK TO WORK, THEN GET OFF WORK 2-3 HOURS LATER AND MY TRUCK WILL NOT START. AFTER ATTEMPING IT 3 TIMES, IT STARTED. I DRIVE HOME WHICH IS 10 MINUTES AWAY AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON. ONLY WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN THE TRUCK ON, IT WILL NOT START. THIS TIME NOTHING HAPPENS...NO CLICKING SOUND OR ANY ATTEMPTS OF THE ENGINE WANTING TO START....NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIKE BEFORE. IT WAS 2 HOURS LATER BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET JUST LIGHTS TO COME ON THE DASH, THEN ANOTHER 30 MINUTES WENT BY BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK TO START. I WAS ENTERING I-75 INTERSTATE RAMP AND MOVING ALONG WITH TRAFFIC AND ABOUT 70 MPH, THE DOOR LOCKS STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN ON THERE OWN, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDLES STARTED SPORADICALLY GOING UP AND DOWN THEN THEY SHOW NO SIGNS OF ANYTHING, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE CHIME SOUND, THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRUCK LOST A LITTLE BIT OF POWER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, I DID SMELL A BURNT WIRE ODOR. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND STILL THE PROBLEM EXISTS. THIS HAS HAPPEN TWICE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK RAN REALLY ROUGH. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE NUMBER 8 CYLINDER HAD OIL LEAKING INTO IT WHICH I SEE NO SIGNS OF BLUE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE TAILPIPE AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT FOR 5 MONTHS NOW WITH NO PROBLEMS EXCEPT WHAT IS GOING ON NOW WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS YEAR TRUCK AND IT SEEMS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO SEEN PICTURES OF THE SAME YEAR TRUCK WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT ARE DESCRIBED ABOVE AND THIS LADIES TRUCK BURNED FROM THE DASHBOARD ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT SEATS. A TOTAL LOSS. I HAVE BOUGHT VEHICLES SINCE I WAS 17 YEARS OLD. I HAVE NEVER HAD THE WHOLE LEFT SIDE ELECTRONICS GO BAD LIKE IN MY 2008 SILVERADO, LTZ. THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT GO UP OR DOWN. EITHER SIDE. MY MIRRORS WOULD NOT COME IN. EXTENDED CAB WINDOWS WOULD NOT WORK . I REPLACED LEFT DOOR ELECTRONICS PANEL, CHEV. DEALER MECHANIC TRIED TO SYNCRONIZE WITH VEHICLE COMPUTER ($130.00) FOUND BROKEN WIRES IN HARNESS. MECHANIC TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND SHUT DRIVERS DOOR. OPENED DOOR AND THE WIRES HAD BROKEN AGAIN PLUS IT SHORTED OUT A FUSE PANEL.A NEW HARNESS AND PANEL WAS ORDERED. A WEEK LATER THE NEW ITEMS WERE INSTALLED ( $606.89). THE MECHANIC THEN SAID THAT THE LEFT REAR DOOR WAS SHORTING OUT AND IT NEEDED A NEW HARNESS ($500.99). I WAITED ANOTHER WEEK AND THIS HARNESS WAS INSTALLED ON 2-13-15. IF I HAD BEEN IN A WRECK AND THE DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED AND I COULD NOT GET MY WINDOWS DOWN I COULD HAVE BURNT UP OR THE FIRST RESPONDERS WOULD HAVE HAD TO CUT ME OUT OF MY TRUCK. THIS HAPPENED TO ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WITH MY WHOLE LEFT SIDE ELECTRONICS GOING DEAD. I ORDERED A MEVOTECH CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY FROM AN ONLINE DEALER 6 MONTHS AGO. THE BALL JOINT FAILED AND SHEARED IN HALF CAUSING A GOOD AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. I WORKED WITH THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE PART FROM AND THEY ARE NOT COVERING THE COSTS FOR THE DAMAGE CAUSED DUE TO THE FAILING PART. NOW THE COMPANY WHO MADE THE PART IS ALSO SAYING THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH ABOUT 66,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I FOUND AN EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS CODE STORED. I CLEARED THE CODE AND WENT ABOUT MY BUSINESS. NOT LONG AFTER, I WENT TO FILL THE TRUCK WITH FUEL AND GASOLINE SPILLED OUT FROM THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK WITHOUT COMING UP THE FILLING NECK. WHEN I GOT AROUND TO TAKING THE TANK OFF THE TRUNK TO LOOK FOR THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THE TOP PLATE OF THE FUEL SENDING UNIT HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND LEFT AN APPROXIMATE 1" X 1/2" HOLE WHERE FUEL AND VAPOR WAS ABLE TO ESCAPE. AS FAR AS I KNOW, THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL SENDING UNIT FOR THE VEHICLE. I AM REPLACING THE UNIT WITH A DELPHI SENDING UNIT WITH A PLASTIC TOP; HOPING THAT THIS WILL PREVENT FUTURE LEAKS OF THIS NATURE. *TR

WITHIN TWO MONTHS OF PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW SILVERADO, I NOTICED THIS ISSUE AND IT HAS PERSISTED. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 73,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT HAPPENS EVEN MORE FREQUENTLY. I'VE BROUGH THIS PROBLEM UP TO CHEVY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, AND THEY HAVE ALWAYS TOLD ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT'S DOING THIS, BUT WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF. MANY TIMES WHEN I START MY VEHICLE, THE "STABILITRACK", AND "ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM" WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. THERE'S NORMALLY A CLICK/THUD WHEN I START THE VEHICLE, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON. WHEN IT DOES THIS, A LOT OF TIMES THE VEHICLE WON'T EVEN SHIFT INTO GEAR FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. IT'S MY BELIEF THAT WHEN THESE LIGHTS ARE ON, THESE ITEMS AREN'T WORKING. I'VE DRIVEN UP TO 45 MINUTES WITH BOTH LIGHTS BEING ON. THEY WILL USUALLY STAY ON UNTIL I'VE OPERATED THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES, AND THEN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER I'VE DONE SO, AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS WILL USUALLY GO OFF. THESE ARE BOTH VERY IMPOTANT SAFETY FEATURES. I'VE GONE ON NUMEROUS GM THREADS AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF SILVERADO OWNERS FROM 2007 UP UNTIL TODAY CONTINUE TO HAVE THE ISSUE AND NOBODY EVER DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE OWNERS WHO DID GET GM TO ACTUALLY TURN A WRENCH IN EFFORTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM ALL SAY IT ULTIMATELY RETURNED. 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500, AIRBAG SENSOR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH OUT ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT. WE CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD US TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER. WE TOOK TO THE DEALER WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM NEW. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND IT CAME BACK EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SENSOR AND INFLATABLE RESTRAINT FRONT SENSOR WERE BAD. AS A SAFETY/EMISSIONS PROBLEM IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY GAVE US A $600 BILL IN WHICH WE MADE THEM CALL THE GM REPRESENTATIVE. THEY THEN HAD US PAY $250. 2 1/2 YEARS LATER AND AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT IS BACK ON WITHOUT ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG COMPLAINT WITH THIS YEAR TRUCK. THE CAB TO OPERATOR COMMUNICATION STARTED SLOWLY DIMINISHING. EVENTUALLY ALL AUDIBLE BEEPS, DINGS AND MUSIC ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAB WERE SHUTOFF. THE SPEED CONTROL CRUISE WAS NOT ACTIVATION, BUT THE BUTTON WOULD LIGHT UP. CURRENTLY THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRUCK, IN THE CAB, IS OUT OF POWER. I AM CONCERNED, DOES THIS AFFECT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TOO? THE TRUCK DOES A SELF DIAGNOSTICS MONTHLY AND NO ISSUES WERE NOTED, BUT THEY WERE OBVIOUS ISSUES THAT A DIAGNOSTIC SHOULD HAVE PICKED UP A NOTABLE CHANGE. THE LIGHTING ISSUE I EXPERIENCED WERE WITH EACH TAILLIGHT. I WOULD RANDOMLY BLOW TAIL LIGHT BULBS. A CLOSER LOOK SHOWED CORROSION AND OBVIOUS SHORTING, BUT NO FUSE WAS FAULTED. BULB WAS BURNED AT THE CONNECTORS. FURTHER REVIEW IT WAS NOTICED THAT EACH TAIL LIGHT HAD WATER IN THE BOTTOM. TRAVELING CAUSED THE WATER TO SHORT OUT AND DAMAGE THE BULB, LEAVING ME WITH NO REAR LIGHTING RANDOMLY. I HAVE SINCE DRILLED HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF EACH TAIL LIGHT AS THERE IS NOT WAY TO REMOVE THE MOISTURE. I HAVE ALSO INSPECTED THE BULB SEALS AND FIND THEY ARE FIRMLY PRESSING ON TO THE SEALING SURFACES, WHICH ARE CLEAN AND FREE FROM ROAD DUST AND GRIME...PLUS THEY ARE HIDDEN INSIDE THE BODY OF THE TRUCK. IN SUMMARY, I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE SOME LEVEL OF DETAIL REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE, FOCUSING ON HOW IT CAN BE REPAIRED. REGARDING THE LIGHTING, THIS IS CONCERNING AND SHOULD BE A CONSIDERATION FOR RISK ASSESSMENT DURING DESIGN. *JS

WHILE DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I SUDDENLY LOST BOTH POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY, BUT WITH CONSIDERABLE EFFORT. I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED, CAUSING THE POWER BRAKES TO FAIL, ALSO. THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHAFT BROKE. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD STRONG SULFUR SMELL AFTER THE FIRST YEAR. I COMPLAINED TO CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. PASSING A VEHICLE ON COUNTY BLACK TOP ROAD,ACCELERATED TO INITIATE PASSING GEAR. ACCELERATOR STUCK ENG RPM AT FULL SPEED. ATTEMPTED TO ALLEVIATE TO NO AVAIL. ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL BUT WENT INTO REVERSE ALSO APPLIED BRAKES. AS A RESULT THERE WERE 420 FT. OF SKID MARKS THEN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HIT SHOULDER OF ROAD AND VEHICLE WENT END OVER END LANDING IN DITCH ON ITS TOP. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THERE I WAS NO RECORDED INCIDENCE ON THE DATA RECORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE CO. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS VEHICLE COULD BE REBUILT AND PUT BACK ON THE ROAD AS DRIVABLE VEHICLE SINCE IT HAD ONLY 13,000 MILES ON IT. 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. DOOR LOCKS CYCLING, A/C NOT WORKING INTERMITTENT, ALT GAUGE FLUCTUATING, FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATING, ENGINE STALL, ABS & TCS LIGHTS BLINKING. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO MY DEALER AND THE KEPT IT FOR A WEEK. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE 175 AMP MEGAFUSE AND BATTERY CABLES. I GOT BACK AND HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR A WEEK AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING PROPERLY EXCEPT THE ALT GAUGE. I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK - ONE THE DRIVER DOOR LOCKS CLICKER STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO HAVE THE CHEVY DEALER REPLACE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING PART - NOW THE BRAKES ARE A PROBLEM - I HAVE 17,000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK AND THE FRONT ROTORS HAD GROVES IN THEM AND HAD TO BE TURNED - THE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH HEAVY DUTY PADS - MY REGULAR TIRE AND BRAKE SHOP IN TOWN SAID THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE PUT THE HEAVY DUTY PADS ON THIS TRUCK. THEY GO OUT BEFORE I AM OFF OF MY BRAKES. SO IF I AM COASTING DOWN A HILL AND APPLY MY BRAKES AND THEN REALIZE THAT I HAVE APPLIED TOO MUCH PRESSURE AND I HAVE TO LET OUT A LITTLE BIT TO CALIBRATE THE PRESSURE CORRECTLY MY BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT STAY ON, THEY GO OUT BEFORE THE PEDAL IS COMPLETELY RELEASED. I WANT MY BRAKE LIGHTS TO STAY ON UNTIL I LET OFF MY BRAKES COMPLETELY, IT SHOULDN'T MATTER HOW MUCH PRESSURE I HAVE ON MY BRAKES, IF MY BRAKES ARE ON SO SHOULD MY LIGHTS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHENEVER THE IGNITION WAS STARTED, A SULFURIC EGG ODOR EXPELLED THROUGHOUT THE AIR VENTS. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER EXPERIENCED NAUSEA AND VOMITING DUE TO BEING EXPOSED TO THE ODOR. THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TESTED FOR THE SYMPTOMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FIFTEEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER ALTERNATIVES TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED THAT THE HIGH OX-FUEL MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. SUDDENLY, HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. HE OBSERVED THAT THE HOT ASHES HAD FALLEN ONTO THE BOTTOM CUSHION OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE FOAM SEAT CUSHIONING BEGAN TO SMOLDER, BUT NO FLAMES APPEARED. IMMEDIATELY, THE SEAT CUSHION WAS EXTINGUISHED WITH LIQUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE FAILURE.
