THERE IS A SAFETY/ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK OF OUR ASPEN. WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK AND THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF, GAS SPURTS OUT ALL OVER THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK, THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND AND IS A SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE DODGE DURANGO'S, BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO FIND ONE FOR THE ASPEN. THIS IS A SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING. When fueling the vehicle as soon as the pump pops off indicating your tank is filled gass will sphew/ or spray back out of the vehicle and onto the person fueling, the side of the vehicle and the ground. This happens every single time no matter what fuel station you use,regardless of the time of day or temperature outside. After looking online I can see there have been numerous reports of this from other 2007 Chrysler Aspen owners going back several years; however, I have not been able to locate anything indicating this is a recall and my vin number indicates all recalls have been addressed on this vehicle. Is there a solution for this issue, is it being repaired by Chrysler or what is being done? Please let me know, as this is a safety issue for anyone fueling up , anyone in the vehicle or around the vehicle. I noticed it asks for an approximate date of when this occured, there has been several dates so I will provide the date of the most recent issue.

When filling the gas tank up using the "fill lock" feature on nearly all modern fuel pump nozzles, when the tank gets full the fill nozzle clicks off and about a half a pint of raw fuel is "purged" back out of the tank filler neck. At first I thought this was a problem at a specific fuel station. I have since learned that it can do it anywhere, at any time of day, and at any temperature.

My 07 Chrysler aspen has a huge fuel problem and as I have read it’s happening to a lot of people! When I fill my car up with fuel no matter what store I am at the gas starts spewing back out of the tank. I do not over fill my car the moment the gas pump clicks that it’s done, a lot of gas starts spewing out onto the ground! I believe this is a potential hazardous ? situation for all involved especially my family! For one I am stressed out about if there were to be an accidental rollover the gas would go everywhere, and 2 when it pours out onto the ground or could even splash out onto my skin I could end up with chemical burns or the bio hazard issue we are having with the gas just being powered onto the ground without me being able to control it! Chrysler doesn’t seem to think this is a problem or that it’s hazardous! But when people go to have the problem fixed they are telling everyone it’s a faulty gas tank and you have to replace the entire tank!! Please help us get our cars fixed for something that Chrysler messed up on they should be responsible for the repairs!!

MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONED AT A GAS STATION PUMP AS I WAS PUMPING FUEL AND I WANTED TO FILL UP THE TANK, AND SO I DID. BUT, RIGHT BEFORE THE PUMP STOPPED, THE GAS SPIT AND SPILLED OUT OF THE TANK, RAN DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND ON TO THE FLOOR.

ON 18 NOVEMBER 2010 AROUND 6 PM, MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME APPROXIMATELY THREE FEET FROM THE GARAGE ENTRANCE. TO MOVE THE VEHICLE INTO THE GARAGE FOR THE NIGHT, I GOT IN THE VEHICLE, CLOSED THE DOOR, STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, LET OFF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, STARTED IT, PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN 'D', LET OFF THE BRAKE, AND DID NOT TOUCH THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY CYCLED UP TO 4000 RPM, AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STARTED MOVING FORWARD. I THEN HIT THE BRAKE TO NO EFFECT ON SPEED. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED THROUGH THE GARAGE, IMPACTED MY STEEL WORKBENCH/TOOL CONTAINER, WENT THROUGH THE BACK WALL AND THE FRONT END IMPACTED THE GROUND SEVEN FEET BELOW THE GARAGE DROPOFF AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I REMOVED THE KEY AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. MY NEIGHBORS WITNESSED THE EVENT AS THE VEHICLE DROVE OUT THE BACK OF THE GARAGE. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT INJURED, BUT WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AT FT BELVOIR AMC. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A HOLE IN THE AC COMPRESSOR, FLICKERING OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FOOT WELL LIGHT, LOSS OF IGNITION WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS PLACED IN 'R' IT WOULD FALL OUT OF GEAR. ALL WERE REPORTED OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS AT CHRYSLER DEALERS IN CA, MS AND VA. I REPORTED THIS TO CHRYSLER LATE NOVEMBER AND RECEIVED A LETTER BACK ON 17 DECEMBER FROM CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CLAIMS RESOLUTION GROUP STATING THE FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE THAT MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS ACCIDENT. TWO WEEKS AGO, WE HAD THE AIR BAG REPAIRED AT THE DEALER DUE TO A RECALL. TODAY, I TRIED TO TURN ON MY CAR, IT WOULD NOT TURN ON AND ALL INSIDE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING. I TOWED IT TO THE SAME DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ELECTRIC MODULES COULD BE THE PROBLEM, THEY SUGGESTED TO CHANGE THE FRONT CONTROL PANEL AND CHARGE ME $1,600. IF PROBLEM PERSIST, THEY MIGHT NEED TO CHECK OTHER MODULES, I.E. $4,000-6,000 CHARGE. BEFORE CHANGING THE AIR BAG RECALL, I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. CAN YOU HELP PLEASE.

AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING IT TO LOSE BRAKING AND POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE ALSO SHUTS OFF WHILE AT A STAND STILL. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK AND SEEMED TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE THAT IS BUILT INTO THE GAS TANK SO IT CANT BE CHANGED. THE WHOLE FUEL TANK HAS TO BE CHANGED AND THE FUEL TANK IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. I'M FORCED TO DRIVE A TICKING TIME BOMB BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL.

I WENT ONLINE TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE RECORDED THAT THE STUDS HAVE BROKEN AND ITS HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH DODGE RAMS, DODGE DURANGOS, AND CHRYSLER ASPENS. THEY SAID THAT HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE STUDS. WERE GONNA SPEND 450 FOR 2 BROKEN STUDS. HOPEFULLY WE HAVE NO DAMAGE IN THE VALVES. THIS COMPLAINT INVOLVES THE FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM OF THE 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ANY BUMPS ENCOUNTERED ON THE ROAD SURFACE WILL RESULT IN A SUDDEN SHIFT OF DIRECTION, OR "JUMPING" OF THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CAN POSSIBLY SEND THE DRIVER INTO ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS OF OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE. AS AN OWNER OF SEVERAL OTHER FCA VEHICLES (INCLUDING, JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND A JEEP COMMANDER) I FIND THIS VERY DISTURBING THAT NHTSA HAS NOT INVESTIGATED THIS PROBLEM AS IT HAS BEEN REPORTED ON SEVERAL OF THE CHRYSLER FORUMS. A " SNAPPING " OR " POPPING " NOISE DEVELOPED IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN GOING AROUND A CORNER AT ~ 30 MPH. IT WAS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN GOING OVER SMALL TO MODERATE BUMPS. BOTH THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE SAID IT NEEDED NEW UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. I HAD THEM REPLACED AND THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. NO ONE CAN FIND THE SOURCE OF THIS NOISE. I AM CONCERNED THERE IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE OR CONTRIBUTE TO AN ACCIDENT. THE 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN WAS RECENTLY PUT ON A BUYBACK LIST FOR SUSPENSION TROUBLES. BOTH THE 2007 AND 2008 ASPENS ARE THE SAME AS THE 2009. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHY THE 2008 AND 2007 WEREN'T INCLUDED ON THIS LIST.

A WARNING INDICATER WILL SOUND SOMETIMES WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT WHEN HAS BEEN LOCKES INTO PLACE (FASTENED). I HAVE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE SEATBELT TO SHUTDOWN THE INDICATER. ALSO THE PASSANGER SEATBELT WILL NOT RELEASE ONCE LOCKED, HOWEVER IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUETS TO GET IT TO RELEASE.

DRIVER'S SEAT BELT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNFASTEN AND IS GETTING WORSE. THIS IS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WITH THIS SEAT BELT, BUT THE RIGHT SECOND ROW SEAT BELT HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. 1. I PURCHASED A NEW CHRYSLER ASPEN IN 2007. 2. I TRIED TO INSTALL A CHILD SEAT IN THE MIDDLE ROW RIGHT WINDOW SEAT. DURING MY EFFORT TO SAFELY TIGHTEN THE SEAT A PLASTIC PORTION ON THE BUCKLE CRACKED. THE CRACKED PORTION OF THE SEATBELT IS WHAT PREVENTS THE BELT FROM GIVING SLACK WHEN A CHILD SEAT IS INSTALLED. THERE NOW WAS NOTHING FROM PREVENTING THE CHILD SEAT FROM MOVING PRIOR TO AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAD THE SEATBELT ASSEMBLY REPLACED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER I NOTICED THE REPLACEMENT PART CRACKED AGAIN NOT AWARE OF HOW IT OCCURRED. THE BELT WAS NOW BEING UTILIZED AS A BOOSTER AND DID NOT HAVE TO BE MANUALLY TIGHTENED. NOW A FEW DAYS AGO AFTER THE BIRTH OF A NEW CHILD MY REAR RIGHT SEATBELT ALSO BROKE. THE SAME PLASTIC PART FAILED DURING INSTALLATION OF ANOTHER CAR SEAT UNDER MY PULLING TIGHTENING PRESSURE WHICH WOULD BE FAR LESS THAN STRESS FROM THE INERTIA OF AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND HAD TWO NEW SEATBELTS ORDERED. AFTER A FEW HOURS I REALIZED THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY PART DESIGN AND POOR MATERIAL CHOICE AS OPPOSED TO A FAULTY PART. AT THIS POINT I AM NOT ABLE TO TAKE ALL MY KIDS WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE EVEN THE BELTS THAT HAVE NOT BROKEN YET ARE NOT SAFE. IN THE 2007 CHRYSLER APSEN, THE THIRD ROW, CENTER SEAT, SAFETY BELT DOES NOT HAVE A COMMON BUCKLE THAT CAN BE RELEASED WITH THE PUSH OF A BUTTON. IT HAS A BUCKLE THAT REQUIRES AN OBJECT (THE USER MANUAL RECOMMENDS THE IGNITION KEY) BE INSERTED INTO A SLOT ON THE BUCKLE TO RELEASE THE LATCH. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IN THE EVENT OF A CAR FIRE, FLOODING, STALLING ON A RAILROAD TRACK OR ANY OTHER POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS EVENT, A PERSON SITTING IN THIS SEAT CANNOT UNLATCH THEIR BUCKLE WITHOUT A TOOL. A CHILD WOULD BE TRAPPED AND POSSIBLE DIE IF AN ADULT IS UNABLE TO CLIMB INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AND, POSSIBLY IN A PANICKED STATE, UNLATCH THE SEATBELT. MY VEHICLE CONTAINS A DVD PLAYER FOR LONG TRIPS. THE REAR, CENTER SEAT IS DIRECTLY IN LINE WITH THE PLAYER AND HAS THE BEST VIEW. WE OWN A NEW UNRELIABLE 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN. OVER A DOZEN TIMES, IT HAS RANDOMLY LOST POWER AND SLID INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN WHERE THE DRIVER HAS NO POWER, BRAKES, OR STEERING. WITHIN 5 MORE MINUTES THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN TURN ON. WE PUSHED THE CAR AND HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR ONCE IT WAS TO THE SIDE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE MAIN COMPUTER WAS BROKEN AND COMPLETELY DISABLED THE CAR. THEY REPLACED THE MAIN COMPUTER AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14TH WE WERE AT A STORE AND I PLACED THE CAR IN REVERSE, AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN WHERE IT STARTED TO REVERSE, AND THEN 'SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL' WHERE NEITHER NEUTRAL, REVERSE, OR DRIVE WOULD LIGHT UP, I HAD NO STEERING, AND NO BRAKES. I HIT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME MILE. SUNDAY, MAY 18TH WE WERE IN A LEFT TURN LANE TURNING LEFT ONTO AN EXPRESSWAY, THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT TURN IT ON AND TOWED IT TO OUR HOME. CURRENTLY AT 60 MILES SHORT OF 3,000 MILES. SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IT HAS ACTED VERY STRANGE. IT ALL STARTED WHILE IN DRIVE THE VEHICLE WILL INCREASE IN RPM'S BUT WILL NOT MOVE IN FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. NOW THIS INCLUDED A TIME OR TWO WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. MY ASPEN'S NEW THING IS TO HAVE A MOMENTARY LOSS OF ENGINE POWER FOLLOWED BY THE DASH BOARD ILLUMINATING AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE IGNITION STATE BUT NOT STARTED. ONCE THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT LOG MILES DRIVEN, DOES NOT SHOW CURRENT SPEED, DOES NOT SHOW RPM'S, SHOWS EVERY WARNING LIGHT AVAILABLE, THE ENGINE FAN GOES AT FULL SPEED, THE AC FAN KICKS ON (IT'S WINTER'.NO I DO NOT HAVE THE AC ON), AND FINALLY 'IT DOES READ THE GAS GAGE.' THIS CONDITION CAN BE CLEARED BY RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER HAS NOT RECOGNIZED THIS AS A NORMAL FAULT AND THE VEHICLE STORES NO FAULT CODES THAT HAVE LED TO A PROBLEM WITH A SOLUTION. THIS EVENT HAS TAKEN PLACE 12 TIMES. HOWEVER, THIS ONLY HAPPENED TWICE WHEN LOCATED NEAR A DEALER OR NOT AT AN INCONVENIENT TIME. I'M A SOLDIER AND I ALSO RUN A DISC JOCKEY BUSINESS. HERE ARE JUST A FEW INCONVENIENT TIMES: 4:00 AM (GOING TO TRAINING), HEADING TO A WEDDING CEREMONY, OR MY FAVORITE DAY "SUNDAY" WHEN NO DEALER/AUTOMOTIVE REPAIRER CAN BE FOUND. THE FIRST TIME THE TECH AT DONOVAN DODGE OF SIERRA VISTA, AZ WITNESSED MY FREAKY ASPEN IN ACTION HE DID NOT BELIEVE THE COMPUTER OUTPUT HE WAS READING. THE TECH HAVING NO WITNESSES PRESENT TURNS THE CAR OFF AND VIOLA NO PROBLEM. THE TECH'S SUPERVISOR AND CHRYSLER WERE IN DISBELIEF. NOW I HAVE FINALLY EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WHILE THE DEALER WAS OPEN AND I WAS CLOSE BY. THE STEERING JERKS AND CAR SHIFTS WHEN I HIT A POT HOLE OF BUMP IN THE ROAD ON MY 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN AND IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED US TO LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE A FEW TIMES, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN OR I WOULD DODGE THE HOLE. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN UNLESS YOUR DRIVING OVER 40 MPH AND WHEN YOUR DRIVING 65 ON THE HIGHWAY, IT'S GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED ONE DAY. THERE'S NOT A SPECIFIC DAY, SINCE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE IT AND HIT A HOLE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD. WE HAVE OWNED IT SINCE IT WAS NEW AND ALWAYS HAD THE PROBLEM. WE ARE ALSO HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING, WE HAVE INSTALLED 3 COMPRESSES, DRYERS IT WILL NOT COOL THIS LAST TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP 8 DAYS. THEY MUST HAVE INSTALLED AND REMOVED EVERY PART THAT WOULD CAUSE IT NOT TO COOL, STILL BLOWS HOT AIR AND IT'S ALREADY 95+ DEGREES OUTSIDE. MY ELDERLY MOTHER DRIVES THIS ASPEN AND IT USE TO BE A GREAT CAR, BUT ONCE THEY BREAK YOU MIGHT AS WELL BUY SOMETHING NEW. IT'S NO WONDER THEY ONLY MAKE THE ASPEN 3 YEARS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN AUGUST 2010. IT IS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN. I HAD IT JUST A FEW MONTHS AND I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. I AM GOOD DRIVER AND DROVE TO WORK EACH DAY WITHOUT ISSUE. I WENT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED THE TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR YEARS AND NOTED HOW ODD IT IS THAT A NEWER VEHICLE WOULD NEED A TIE ROD REPLACEMENT. HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. IT COST OVER $500 TO GET IT REPLACED. HE SAID HAD I DRIVEN IT JUST A FEW MORE DAYS THE WHOLE FRONT WOULD HAVE BROKEN CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO HAD AN ISSUE IN 2012 WITH A EMISSION SENSOR AND MY GAS TANK.

MY 2007 ASPEN 4X4 NOW HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT. RECENTLY THE BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR ON THE DASH PANEL HAS COME ON AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND DRIVING BETWEEN 1 AND 10 MILES DISTANCE. WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED, THE LIGHT GOES OUT. THIS IS REPEATABLE EVERYTIME THE CAR IS STARTED. ALSO, SINCE THIS CONDITION BEGAN, THE BRAKE HAS 1. REFUSED TO DISENGAGE AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKE (ONE TIME OCCURRENCE); 2. SUDDENLY BECOME EXTREMELY RESISTIVE WHEN BREAKING. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION THAT HAS HAPPENED NOW 3 TIMES. TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHEELS RANDOMLY LOCKED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR RANDOMLY FLASHED. AS A RESULT, THE POWER STEERING WAS EXTREMELY AFFECTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AS THE FRONT AND REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP. IN ADDITION, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INDICATOR RANDOMLY FLASHED AND THE GEARS INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER, I STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING I ROLLED THE WINDOWS DOWN TO CHECK IF IT WAS MY TRUCK, SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE BACK SEAT. I PULLED OVER AND OPENED THE BACK DOOR AND SAW MY BACK SEAT BURNING. HAD TO PUT WATER AND LEAVE THE WINDOWS DOWN FOR A COUPLE DAYS, IT'S SO HORRIBLE TO THINK THAT MY SON USUALLY SITS THERE AND COULD OF GOTTEN BURNED. WE BOUGHT THE CHRYSLER ASPEN WITH THE HEMI ENGINE NEW IN 2007. THE FOLLOWING YEAR THE PROBLEM BEGAN TO REAR ITS UGLY HEAD. CONSTANT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS DUE TO WATER INTRUSION FROM THE SUN ROOF DUE TO POOR DRAINAGE. TRUCK WAS SERVICED NUMEROUS TIMES BY CHRYSLER WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS. TRUCK IS HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE ALL DASH BOARD LIGHTS WILL GO ON WHEN IT'S RAINING OR AFTER ITS RAINED WHICH CAUSES A DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, CITY STREETS AND ALSO WHILE THE TRUCK IS STATIONARY. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED NUMEROUS TIMES AND CHRYSLER HAS MADE NO EFFECTIVE ENGINEERING REMEDY. THEY EVEN BLAME THE ENVIRONMENT I.E.TREES FOR CAUSING THE PROBLEM AS REFUSAL TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY AND THE TRUCK WAS SERVICED IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE SYSTEMIC PROBLEM. IT IS CHRYSLER'S POSITION THAT THE ENVIRONMENT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM NOT THE ENGINEERING OF THE TRUCK. THEIR ARE MILLIONS OF CARS AND TRUCKS WITH SUNROOFS THAT ARE LEFT OUTSIDE THAT DON;T HAVE LEAKS OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BECAUSE OF POOR DRAINAGE. WE HAVE 32 PAGES OF INVOICES FROM THE CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPT, THE VAST MAJORITY ARE ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS. WHEN WE CALLED CHRYSLER CORP. AND FINALLY SPOKE TO SOMEONE TODAY 6/24/16, WE WERE TOLD ITS THE ENVIRONMENT WE CAN'T SPEAK TO ANYONE HIGHER THEN HER, CASE CLOSED, LIFE TIME WARRANTY VOIDED FOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES.

WAS IN ACCIDENT 02-2015 INVOLVING HEAD-ON COLLISION - AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY - VEHICLE WAS IMPOUNDED - PD AS WELL AS IMPOUND LOT PERSONNEL AND AUTOBODY SHOP ADJACENT ALL QUESTIONED WHY AIRBAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED. DASH IS STILL ILLUMINATED, RADIO TURNS ON BY ITSELF AND CAN'T LOCK DOORS WITH THE CAR TURN TO OFF POSITION AND KEY OUT OF IGNITION. CAR DOOR CONTINUES DINGING NOISE AS IF KEY IS IN POSITION. DRAINS THE BATTERY. WHEN YOU GIVE THE BATTERY A CHARGE THE CAR WILL CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE BATTERY IS TOO WEAK. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. CHRYSLER DEALER CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE. THEY STATE THE ASPEN IS KNOWN TO HAVE DRAIN BATTERIES QUICKLY. YOU CAN DRIVE OVER A SMALL BUMP OR POT HOLE AND CAR WILL JUMP ACROSS THE ROAD. PLACED BRAND NEW TIRES AND CAR IS ALIGNED PERFECTLY BUT STILL MAKES THE CAR JUMP. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR WILL MOVE TO ANOTHER PERSON'S DRIVING LANE ON DUAL HIGHWAY WHEN HITTING A BUMP. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE AND SCARES MY FAMILY. ONE DAY, IF WE HIT A BUMP, I MIGHT SIDE SWIPE/CRASH INTO A PASSING CAR OR ROLLOVER OFF THE ROAD.

THE CAR WAS IDLING WHILE WAITING TO FOLLOW ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS THEN PUT INTO DRIVE, AT WHICH POINT ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTION CEASED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE RADIO, WHICH WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE ENGINE ALSO STOPPED RUNNING. FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO THE RECALL ACTION INITIATED FOR DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH. IN SEPTEMBER, I HAD STOPPED FOR GAS AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR TO START IT, THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT MOVE, AS THOUGH I HAD AN INCORRECT KEY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH DURING RAINY WEATHER, THE DASH GAUGES AND SENSOR LIGHTS SUDDENLY BEGAN TO FLICKER OFF AND ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY WATER THAT HAD LEAKED FROM THE SUN ROOF AND ROOF PANEL INTO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PILLAR AND ONTO THE ELECTRICAL PANEL FUSE BOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ACTIVATING THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL, THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT WOULD ACTIVATE ERRONEOUSLY. WHEN THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL, THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL WOULD ACTIVATE. MY 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN WAS IN "PARK" AT A GASOLINE STATION. THE CAR SHIFTED INTO REVERSE WHILE I WAS FILLING THE TANK. I TRIED TO JUMP IN THE CAR AS IT WAS ROLLING AND WAS DRUG ALONG THE CEMENT.THE CAR WAS EVENTUALLY STOPPED WHEN THE DOOR HIT A CEMENT POLE. THIS RESULTED IN APPROXIMATELY $2200 IN DAMAGES TO THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE AND QUITE A FEW CUTS, SCRAPES AND BRUISES ON MY BODY. THE CAR HAD SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE (USUALLY WHILE I WAS IN REVERSE) AND HAD BEEN REPORTED TO CHRYSLER, BUT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T GET THE CAR TO DO IT WHILE IT WAS IN THE SHOP, THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT. THE KEY ALSO WOULD STICK WHEN STARTING THE CAR LEAVING IT TO REV WHILE I TRIED TO GET THE KEY OUT. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIRMAN THAT CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THESE ISSUES, BUT UNTIL THEY FOUND A FIX THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAVE READ WHERE OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR THESE SAME ISSUES, BUT THE ASPEN HAS NEVER BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. MY COMPLIANT IS SPECIFIC TO THE TPMS TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM INSTALLED BY CHRYSLER. WHEN TRYING TO FILL MY TIRES THE THREADS ON THE TPMS SENSOR SEPARATED FROM THE STEM LEAVING ME UNABLE TO ADD AIR TO THE TIRE. THE REPAIR REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR. IN SPEAKING WITH THE TIRE REPAIR SHOP THEY INDICATED THE CHRYSLER SENSORS USE A WHITE METAL THREAD SECTION WHICH COMMONLY FAILS IN COLD CLIMATES. THE ASPEN LURCHED BACKWARDS APPROXIMATELY FIFTY FEET AT A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED, JUST AFTER BEING PUT INTO REVERSE. IT WAS STOPPED WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A GARAGE AND A TOYOTA PRIUS. THE PRIUS WAS TOTALED, THE ASPEN SEVERELY DAMAGED, THE GARAGE DOORS WERE YANKED OUT OF THE CEILING AND SHATTERED, AND OTHER PARTS OF THE GARAGE WERE DAMAGED. ANYONE WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN BEHIND THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED. FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE REVERSE TRANSMISSION. OCCASIONALLY WHEN PLACED INTO REVERSE, THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO A SHORT DISTANCE IN REVERSE, AS IF THE CLUTCH WAS NOT CATCHING. THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP, AND THEN THE CAR WOULD COME TO AN ABRUPT HALT. THE HALT WAS VERY ABRUPT AND "MECHANICAL" AS IF SOMETHING WAS BEING CAUGHT - THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED A PASSENGER IN THE CAR THOUGHT THE CAR STRUCK SOMETHING IN REVERSE. THERE WERE NEVER ANY ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION GOING FORWARD, AND THIS REVERSE ISSUE ONLY HAPPENED ABOUT 10% OF THE TIMES THE CAR WAS PUT IN REVERSE. IN BETWEEN THE CAR WAS FINE IN REVERSE. THIS NEVER SEEMED LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR STOPPED ABRUPTLY WHEN GOING BACKWARDS IN PREVIOUS INSTANCES - IT DID NOT GO BACKWARDS UNCONTROLLABLY AS OCCURRED IN THE INCIDENT. A CHRYSLER INVESTIGATOR CAME OUT THE DAY FOLLOWING THIS INCIDENT. HE CONCLUDED THAT THE DRIVER OF THE CAR ACCIDENTALLY PUT HER FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL RATHER THAN BRAKE. WE ARE QUITE CERTAIN THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED. IN SPITE OF EMPHASIZING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE REVERSE, CHRYSLER TOLD THE OWNERS ON 4/4/11 THAT THIS WAS A DRIVER ERROR BASED ON THEIR EVALUATION. HOWEVER, THEY NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION. WE NOW HAVE THE VEHICLE IN STORAGE AND ARE TRYING TO GET AN INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF THE PROBLEM.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN WHEN THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE OFF CAUSING THE WHEEL AND AXEL TO COME OFF, WENT LEFT INSTANTLY AND INTO A 18 INCH DITCH, AND BROKE HER HAND. I CALLED CHRYSLER THE VERY NEXT DAY, THEY GAVE ME A CASE # AND SENT A MAN OUT TO TAKE PICTURES, HE DOWN PLAYED THE WHOLE THING LIKE THIS WAS NORMAL. LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER SAYING IT WAS NOT THE FAULT OF CHRYSLER. I HAVE TAKEN THE BROKEN PART TO AT LEAST 10 PLACES THAT KNOWS ABOUT FRONT ENDS ALSO METAL AND WELDING SHOPS BODY SHOPS. WITHIN 10 SECONDS THEY ALL SAID IT IS A DEFECT. YOU CAN SEE VERY PLAINLY WHERE IT HAS BEEN CRACKED FOR AWHILE, OLD AND RUSTED, AND THEN THE NEW BREAK. NO OTHER CAR WAS INVOLVED , JUST BROKE OFF. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY NEAR A MILITARY BASE AND THERE WEREN'T ANY VEHICLES CLOSE TO ME. A F16 JET FLEW OVER THE FREEWAY AND THE NEXT THING I KNOW, THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. MY SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED OUT. SOME GLASS CAME IN AFTERWARDS AND FELL ON ME AND MY SON. I WAS DOING 65 MPH AT THE TIME. THE GLASS WINDOW WAS CLOSED, BUT THE INSIDE WINDOW COVER WAS OPEN SO WE COULD SEE OUT. I DROVE IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER IN POWAY, CA. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME A ROCK HAD BROKE IT. WE PURCHASED A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN DEC 23, 2006. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT MY INLAWS' HOME. IT WAS SHOCKING & MY FAMILY WAS SHOUTING OUT FOR ME TO STOP THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL IT & KEEP FROM HITTING OTHER VEHICLES BUT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. THE NEXT WEEK I WENT TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT OF OUR SAFEWAY STORE TO GO ON TO THE MAIN STREET. I WAS STOPPED TO TURN RIGHT WHEN THE CAR LURCHED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HORNS BLARED & CARS SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING ME. I WAS JUST WAITING TO BE HIT! I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER W/466 MILES ON IT. THEY SAID THEY "COULD NOT VERIFY CONCERN; OPERATING AS DESIGNED AT THIS TIME." IN FEB WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR GARAGE THE CAR LURCHED VIOLENTLY WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE & JUMPED ABOUT 3 FEET. MY WIFE WAS STANDING IN THE DOORWAY & BEGAN SCREAMING. SHE CALLED THE SERVICE REP CRYING BECAUSE SHE BELIEVED I WOULD BE KILLED IF I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. I TOOK IT TO DEALER. THEY KEPT IT, & WERE "UNABLE TO VERIFY CONCERN; VEHICLE IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED AT THIS TIME; MILES OUT 1040." MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. ALSO WHEN YOU INSERT KEY IN THE IGNITION IT STARTS @ 1300 RPM'S. THE DEALER SAYS WE SHOULD LET CAR SETTLE DOWN TO ABOUT 600 RPM'S WHICH REQUIRES A FULL MINUTE OF WAITING IN THE CAR BEFORE YOU CAN START TO MOVE. THEY THINK THIS MIGHT BE PART OF THE PROBLEM BUT TELL US THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX IT. SO WE HAVE A CAR THAT MUST SIT BEFORE YOU CAN USE IT; YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT EVER VALET IT FOR FEAR THE ATTENDANT MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN A LURCHING INCIDENT. ON JUNE 4, 2007 SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME 3 OTHER ASPENS ARE REPORTING THIS PROBLEM. WE ARE SETTING UP A MTG W/GM TO ARRANGE TO TURN IN THIS CAR. MY WIFE HAS SET UP A FILE ON THE CAR & ADVISED FAMILY MEMBERS WHERE IT IS IN THE EVENT WE ARE KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR SO THEY CAN INVESTIGATE IF THE LURCHING/BUCKING ACTION OF THE CAR CAUSED THE ACCIDENT.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REAR PARK ASSIST SYSTEM WAS WORKING PROPERLY BY ALERTING THE CONTACT AT SIXTEEN INCHES AWAY. THE CONTACT FEARED THAT THE ALARM WILL NOT ALERT HER IN TIME AND, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS HIGHER FROM THE GROUND. SHE MAY NOT SEE PEOPLE OR OBJECTS IN TIME WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE. I OWN A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN WITH 1500 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I TURNED OFF THE MAIN HIGHWAY ON TO A SECONDARY ROAD, WHEN THEN ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED THE ENGINE SHUTTERED BRIEFLY THEN ACCELERATED TO A HIGH SPEED ON IT'S OWN. I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN VERY HARD AND IT WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE,I HAD TO PLACE THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND SWITCH THE IGNITION OFF TO STOP THE CAR. LUCKILY I WAS NOT AT THE SCHOOL YARD WERE I HAD JUST PICKED MY CHILD UP. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO PICK MY CAR UP AND CARRY TO THE DEALERSHIP AS I WAS TOO SCARED TO TRY AND DRIVE IT AGAIN. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM AND WOULD HAVE. *JBTO CONTACT CHRYSLER TO SEE WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND THAT A MECHANIC WOULD DRIVE IT TO SEE IF THEY COULD RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESPONSE TO WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD HAVE INJURED SOMEONE AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS! *JB
