The contact owned a 2009 Chrysler Aspen. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown rate of speed, she was run off the road by a vehicle by another vehicle. The contact crashed into an unknown object and hit her face on the steering wheel since the airbags did not deploy. The contact temporarily lost consciousness; once she regained consciousness, blood was coming from her mouth. The contact immediately checked on her two young children who were both treated by an ambulance. The contact stated that her son was treated for facial injuries. A police report was filed. The contact had yet to seek medical attention for her injuries. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard but was later towed back to her home. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was a total loss. The failure mileage was unknown.

TAKATA RECALL IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT, IN ALMOST A YEAR, NO REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO REMEDY THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY ISSUE! CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME, WHICH I FEEL HAS LAPSED.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the roadway. The contact stated that a family member arrived at her location and assisted her with resetting the 4-wheel drive. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,369.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE. PROBABLE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. I STARTED THE VEHICLE USING THE REMOTE START AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD SEVERAL INCHES THEN SETTLED BACK WERE IT WAS. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE HAD BEEN +- ZERO FOR SEVERAL DAYS. IT DID NOT REPEAT AFTER BEING WARMED UP. IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. 116,000 MILES.

I HAD TROUBLE WITH A HUMMING NOISE AND POPPING UNDER MY VEHICLE FOR A FEW MONTHS. THE HUMMING GOT SO LOUD THAT WE COULD NOT HEAR EACH OTHER TALK TO ONE ANOTHER AT ALL. IT POPPED PULLING OUT, GOING AROUND A CURVE, GOING BACKWARDS, OR SLOWING DOWN. THE HUMMING STOPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN AFTER IT GOT VERY LOUD. MY ASPEN THEN FELL TOWARD THE RIGHT SIDE AND SMOKE STARTED SHOOTING OUT FROM THE PASSENGER BACK TIRE WHEN DRIVING IT. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC. HE SAID IT WAS VERY BAD. THE REAR AXLE AND REAR AXLE BEARING ARE DESTROYED AND IT WILL NEED A NEW REAR END. THIS VEHICLE HAD NO8 REAR PINION NUT RECALL COMPLETED ON 1/13/2014. IF THE RECALL REALLY SOLVES THE 2009 ASPEN PROBLEM OF THE REAR END AXLE AND AXLE BEARINGS FROM BEING DESTROYED THEN WHY AM I NOW HAVING TO GET A NEW REAR END IN DECEMBER OF 2019. I SEE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED SO NOW PEOPLE ARE PAYING FOR REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. A $2500+ REPAIR FOR A VEHICLE IS AN AWFUL PRODUCT FLAW THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR. I HAVE HAD CARS FOR 20 YEARS THAT I NEVER HAD TO POCKET MONEY LIKE THAT FOR ALL THEIR REPAIRS TOGETHER.

I DID SPEAK TODAY WITH MOPAR VEHICLE PROTECTION AND THEY STATED WHEN CHRYSLER PLACED THE MAX CARE COVERAGE ON MY ASPEN, THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO PLACE THE POWERTRAIN WRAP WITH THE MAX CARE COVERAGE. PER MY VEHICLE INFO AND THE SALES REP, CHRYSLER LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WAS INCLUDED WITH MY VEHICLE PURCHASE. AS REQUESTED BY JAKE - CHRYSLER CORP, CC#: 29959728 I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS LAST THURSDAY. MATT RICHARDSON CALLED ON FRIDAY STATING THAT THE REAR END BARRINGS HAVE COME APART ON THE CAR AND THAT THEY NOT ONLY NEED TO REPLACE THE BARRINGS, THEY NEED TO DO AN ENTIRE OVERHAUL OF THE ENTIRE REAR END. HE EXPLAINED THEY WILL BE REPLACING THE PINION NUT WHICH WAS THE N08 RECALL PERFORMED LAST YEAR, THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT INCLUDING REPLACING THE OIL IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL UNIT ON THE SERVICE THAT WAS PERFORMED IN JULY 2016. HE STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 DAYS. $1150 CHRYSLER'S LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THIS AS THE PINION NUT, REAR END DIFFERENTIAL IS PART OF THE POWERTRAIN. A WARRANTY THAT PROVIDES PROTECTION FOR AS LONG AS YOU OWN THE CAR TO THE KEY COMPONENT GROUPS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO KEEPING YOUR VEHICLE RUNNING: THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION/TRANSFER CASE/ALL-WHEEL DRIVE ASSEMBLY, AND DRIVETRAIN ASSEMBLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO DRIVE AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT, WHO WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO CONFIRMED WITH OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BOWIE (LOCATED AT 2406 CRAIN HWY, BOWIE, MD 20716, (855) 822-3228) THAT THE CHECK VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS MORE PROMINENT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 189,000.

SUV STALLS AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK. OFTEN IT WILL REQUIRE MULTIPLE CYCLES OF STARTING AND STALLING BEFORE IT WILL CONTINUE TO RUN. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE MORE SEVERE IN COLD WEATHER. THE SUV HAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. ADDITIONALLY GAS WILL SPLASH OUT DURING FUELING.

FOR THE LAST 1-2 YEARS, EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK MY 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN WILL STALL REPEATEDLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS, ALL STEERING AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS LOST. THE CAR WILL RESTART AFTER ABOUT 30-45 SECONDS. ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES AFTER FUELING UP, THE PROBLEM STOPS UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I FILL UP THE TANK. THE ISSUE OCCURS WITHOUT FAIL EVER TIME I FILL UP MY TANK. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP A NUMBER OF TIMES AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO BE DETERMINED OR REPAIRED. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CODES WHEN A DIAGNOSTIC IS RAN (ONE TIME THERE WAS A SMALL EVAP. LEAK BUT ONCE THE IGNITION COIL WAS REPLACED, THE CODE WAS GONE). I HAVE HAD THE IGNITION COIL REPLACED, SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, EVAPORATION CONTROL CANISTER REPLACED, ETC. OFTEN, THERE IS A STRONG GAS SMELL AFTER FILLING UP, BUT THERE IS NO LEAK FROM THE GAS TANK THAT HAS BEEN ABLE TO BE DETECTED.

I CURRENTLY OWN A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN HYBRID. TODAY WHILE FUELING MY VEHICLE I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN HAVING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. AS I AM FUELING THE FUEL TRIGGER SHUTS OFF ON ME CONSTANTLY. AS I TAKE IT OUT TO REINSERT IT, IT SPITS OUT FUEL AT ME. ONCE I AM DONE FUELING AND PROCEED TO CAP THE TANK IT SPITS FUEL AT ME AS WELL. TODAY I WAS DRENCHED IN FUEL BECAUSE AS I BEGAN FUELING MY VEHICLE WHICH HAD AN EMPTY TANK IT STARTED TO SPIT FUEL BACK AT ME. THIS IS NOT ONLY HAZARDOUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT BUT IT?S ALSO A PERSONAL SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD TO RETURN HOME TO CHANGE BECAUSE MY PANTS WHERE COVERED IN FUEL. AS I STARTED TO LOOK FOR FACTS I NOTICED THAT I AM NOT ALONE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AMONGST THE DURANGO/ASPEN MODELS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I ASK YOU TO PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. TODAY NO ONE WAS INJURED OR HURT BUT IF I WERE TO GO ANYWHERE AFTER FUELING AND BE EXPOSED TO ANY OPEN FLAME I CAN ALMOST ASSURE YOU THAT MY CLOTHING WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE ALL DUE TO A MALFUNCTION ON THESE VEHICLES. PERSISTENT DEAD 12V BATTERY. EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, TRUCK WILL BE DEAD WITHIN 24 HOURS OF NOT BEING DRIVEN. ALL LIGHTS ARE OFF AND KEYS REMOVED. BATTERY WILL BE DEAD IN A LESS THAN A DAY AFTER RUNNING JUST FINE REQUIRES A 2 SECOND JUMP FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE TO START. .

THE OVERHEAD CONTROL MODULE HAS FAILED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. WE ARE BEING ASKED TO COVER IT OUR OF POCKET AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THE PART SHOULD BE UNDER THE 12 MONTH WARRANTY. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLS ME THAT SINCE IT WAS REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY THE LAST TIME (12 MONTHS AGO) OUR CONSUMER WARRANTY GOES BACK TO THE ONE WE PURCHASED THE FIRST TIME IT FAILED AND WON'T COVER IT THIS TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRIP COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRIP COMPUTER. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE TRIP COMPUTER ILLUMINATED RED AND MALFUNCTIONED. THE TRIP COMPUTER ALSO CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DIE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

CHRYSLER HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THEIR 5.8 HEMI ENGINE. 12/16/2020 I PAID $3791.07 TO REPLACE A BAD CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 72,768 MILES. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FIND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES! IN CONTACTING CHRYSLER, THEY OF COURSE, REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DESIGN FLAW. ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS A MAJOR ENGINE DEFECT WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I WOULD BE INTERESTED IF ANYONE ELSE HAS EXPRESSED THEIR CONCERNS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER'S COMPLETE DISREGARD.

FUEL PUMP SHORT CIRCUIT. AFTER PUMPING GAS THE TRUCK WILL NOT TURN ON. SHORT CIRCUIT FROM THE PUMP TO THE STARTER. AFTER TURNING THE KEY TO POWER ON THE TRUCK ALL THE GAS SPILLED FROM UNDERNEATH. I DROVE TO MY KIDS SCHOOL AT 230PM , AFTER LEAVING POWERED ON THE TRUCK TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND THATS WHEN ALL THE GAS SPILLED FROM UNDERNEATH.

I'M HAVING SEVERAL ISSUES. FIRST, I CANT FILL MY GAS TANK UP ALL THE WAY, IF I DO MY TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF AT ANY GIVEN TIME. ALSO MY DASH BOARD LIGHTS DON'T WORK. I WAS TOLD THE BULB IS SAUTERED TO THE DASH AND THE WHOLE DASH HAS TO BE REPLACED, THAT'S $1300! CURRENTLY, MY MAJOR ISSUE IS, MY TRUCK NOT STARTING!!! I HAVE REPLACED, THE STARTER, THE BATTERY, THE BATTERY CABLES, AND RECENTLY THE ALTERNATOR! I OFTEN NEED TO GET A JUMP AND IT USUALLY TURNS OVER AND WILL RUN FOR A DAY OR TWO BEFORE NEEDING A JUMP AGAIN! I HAVE READ REVIEWS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE, AND SOO MANY OF US ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD DO A RECALL CONCERNING THIS MATTER AND KEEP A GOOD QUALITY STANDARD RATING WITH THE PEOPLE THAT TRUST IN THEIR NAME!

I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER AND AS I AM FUELING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME FUEL BURPED UP AND SPILLED ALL ALONG THE SIDE. THE FUEL CAME POURING OUT OF THE TANK AND SPILLED OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE INTO THE GROUND. THIS EMITTED A STRONG GAS ODOR AND AT THE SAME TIME PRODUCED A SPILL ALL AROUND. I STOPPED FUELING THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER I NOTICED THAT I WAS ONLY ABLE TO FILL ABOUT 3/4 OF MY TANK. Every time I fill the gas tank, the fuel spills out of the fill tube when it gets full. I have tried putting it in slow but before the nozzle can shut off it blows the fuel back out of the fill tube. This is a substantial amount of fuel which I believe is a serious hazard.

WHEN TRAVELING AT DIFFERENT CITY OR HWY SPEEDS ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL TURN ON. DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT THE SPEED OR BRAKING OF THE CAR BUT IF I APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE THE LIGHT IS ON SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL PULL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT BUT WHEN THE LIGHT IS OFF AND I APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR DOESN'T PULL LEFT OR RIGHT. ONCE THE LIGHT IS ON IT STAYS ON AND SETS A CODE AND LIGHT STAYS ON ON UNTIL I STOP THE CAR AND TURN OFF THE IGN SWITCH. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INTO THE DEALER MANY TIMES AND THEY HAVE VERIFIED THE CODE.THEY HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT THINGS BUT I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR.

FOR NO KNOWN REASON MY 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4 WILL ENGAGE ON ITS OWN, I HAVE REPEATEDLY TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP (WHICH BY THE WAY IS HORRIBLE) THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS . HOWEVER SINCE I HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY THEY HAVE CLAIMED I NEED EVERY SINGLE PART COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY WITH NOT RESULTS. THE FIRST TIME I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS I WAS TOLD TO BRING THE TRUCK IN IMMEDIATELY AS THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM DUE TO THE FACT WHEN IT IS ENGAGED THE TRUCK WILL LOOSE POWER. IT ENGAGED WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DOING 70 MPH AND DROPPED INSTANTLY TO 20 MPH AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 35MPH. MY OVERHEAD CONSOLE, DASH AND RADIO AT RANDOM GO OUT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP I NEEDED A NEW RADIO 3 TIMES EACH TIME THE RADIO WOULD START WORKING AGAIN FOR THE SAME REASON IT STOPPED, UNKNOWN. I TURN ON THE TURN SIGNAL THEY FLASH BETWEEN LEFT, RIGHT AND HAZARD.

2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN HYBRID HAS 3 RECALLS. THE FIRST RECALL UPDATE WASN'T SUCCESSFULLY DONE AND SUBSEQUENTLY I CANT GET THE OTHER 2, S43 AND S92 RECALLS ADDRESSED. FOR SEVERAL YEARS PRIOR TO P48 RECALL, MY TRUCK WOULD DROP DEAD WHILE DRIVING AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER DIAGNOSE WHY THE TRUCK WAS DOING SO. THERE IS AN EXTENSIVE HISTORY. THE TRUCK DROPPED DEAD 11/24/2014, DEALERSHIP UPLOADED A SOFTWARE A DAY LATER IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX DROP DEAD ISSUE. IT WORKED ONLY 2 MONTHS AFTER THE UPDATE. IT DROPPED DEAD AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT SAT UNFIXED FOR 10 MONTHS. THEY THEN SAID THE SOFTWARE UPDATE COULDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM AND I REPLIED THEN THE SOFTWARE UP DATE WAS THE FINAL CAUSE FOR THE DEATH OF THE VEHICLE. WHY DID YOU UPLOAD IF IT WASN'T GOING TO FIX. THEY REFUSED TO LOOK FURTHER BECAUSE THE AREA SERVICE MANAGER IN A MEETING WITH MR. LOPERNA STATED THE TRUCK HAD 148,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX FURTHER DUE TO MILEAGE THEN WENT ON TO SAY IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY IGNORING THE FACT THE TRUCK HAD BEEN DROPPING DEAD FOR YEARS WITHOUT THEM BEING ABLE TO DIAGNOSE. I WAS IN MOTION EVERY TIME THE TRUCK FELL DEAD AND THE DROP DEAD ISSUE STARTED A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOTED EVERY TIME THE TRUCK DROPPED DEAD AND WAS TOWED IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG. I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW HOW MANY HYBRID TRUCKS HAVE BEEN FIXED? I AM ALSO CURIOUS TO KNOW HOW CAN SOMEONE REFUSE TO FIX A RECALL DUE TO MILEAGE. I HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO ANYONE IN LEADERSHIP AT CHRYSLER ALTHOUGH I HAVE WRITTEN 25 LETTERS AND ADDRESSED TO EACH INDIVIDUAL. I AM NOT ABLE TO GET PAST THE CALL CENTER FOR HELP.

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V947000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V352000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO SUPPLY THE REMEDY PARTS TO THE DEALER TO RECEIVE THE REPAIR IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL ON AN S CURVE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE WENT OVER AN ICE PATCH. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE FRACTURED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE UNSTABLE AND CRASH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE DRIVER, WHICH CAUSED BRUISING FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE A SOLUTION TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. HAVE TAKEN CAR IN TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WITH REGARDS TO NOISE. CAR MAKING WHININ NOISE WHILE DRIVING. INITIALLY ADVISED REAR PINION SEAL LEAKING. SO NO FLUID IN REAR DIFFERENTIAL UNIT. I STATED REAR PINION NUT WAS A RECALL AND IF NUT HAD BEEN REPLACED, HOW ANY WHY DID FLUID LEAK OUT? REAR DIFFERENTIAL SERVICE PERFORMED AND FLUID ADDED WITH SERVICE AT MY EXPENSE. ADVISED NOISE WOULD GO AWAY. TOOK CAR IN AGAIN ALMOST THREE WEEKS LATER, AS PATIENTLY WAITED FOR NOISE TO GO AWAY, NOW TOLD REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER BEARING ARE WORN AND $2000 TO FIX CAR! ALL OF THESE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURES ARE THE FAULT OF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL PINION NUT.

I PURCHASED A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN HYBRID WITH ABOUT 20,000 MILES ON IT. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE TIE ROD ENDS HAVE FAILED THREE TIMES ON THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY STALL OUT OR QUICKLY ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND PUT ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHERS NOT HE ROAD AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY. IT HAS HAPPENED IN PARKING LOTS AND WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OUT OF PARKING LOTS. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH CHRYSLERS CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT AND TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT SINCE MAY OF THIS YEAR. THEIR APPROACH HAS BEEN TO PLACE A DATA RECORDER IN THE VEHICLE AND HAVE ME DRIVE IT - AGAIN PUTTING ME AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD AT RISK. WHILE THE DATA RECORDER WAS IN THE VEHICLE, THERE WERE 3 FAILURES. UNFORTUNATELY THE DATA RECORDER ALSO FAILED AND DID NOT CAPTURE ANYTHING. I HAVE ATTACHED AS MANY OF THE SERVICE RECORDS AS I COULD. THERE ARE MORE THOUGH. I ALSO HAVE VIDEOS OF THE FAILURES.

I HAVE A 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN THAT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE THE END OF FEBRUARY WHEN THE TRUCK DROPPED DEAD FOR THE LAST TIME. AROUND SIX MONTHS INTO MY OWNERSHIP THE VEHICLE STARTED DROPPING DEAD AT AROUND 65 MPH. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE BUMP AND STOP AND DROP DEAD ISSUE. THERE WAS A RECALL OCTOBER OF 2014 THAT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF. I LEARNED ABOUT A RECALL 11/26/2014 FROM THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHEN THE TRUCK WAS THERE FOR SERVICE AFTER DROPPING DEAD 11/24/2014. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP LOGGED INTO THE SYSTEM THAT A RECALL WAS SATISFIED, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER A WEEK LATER. THE DEALERSHIP UPLOADED A SOFTWARE AS PER THE RECALL TO PREVENT FURTHER DROP DEAD ISSUES AND TO KEEP THE HYBRID BATTERY FROM GOING DEAD. THAT RECALL IS 5 YEARS LATE BECAUSE MY TRUCK HAS HAD THOSE SYMPTOMS SINCE I PURCHASED. THE SOFTWARE WAS UPLOADED 11/26/2014, THE TRUCK DROPPED DEAD AGAIN THE END OF FEBRUARY AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOT FIXED SINCE. HAVING MADE TONS OF CALLS TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSIST, I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL CLERKS THAT HAVE SAID THE HYBRID IS NEW AND THEY DON'T HAVE KNOWLEDGE REGARDING IT. I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER THAT DID NOTHING AND BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE DID NOT ESCALATE MY CONCERNS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD ALL OF MY LETTERS ARE IN THE SYSTEM WHICH IS A TOTAL OF 24 LETTERS TO DIFFERENT LEADERS IN CHRYSLER TO GET HELP. I HAVE AN EMAIL THAT STATED AT THE POINT THE VEHICLE IS BEING FIXED THEY WOULD REIMBURSE MY RENTAL CAR FEES. I AM STILL IN A RENTAL CAR AND THEY HAVE YET TO REIMBURSE ANYTHING. I HAVE YET TO HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH A MANAGER OR ANYONE IN A LEADERSHIP ROLE. CHRYSLER IS AND HAS BEEN IGNORING ME DESPITE RECEIVING SEVERAL LETTERS AND PHONE CALLS FROM ME AND 2 RECENT LETTERS FROM MY ATTORNEY. I AM TOLD THE HYBRID NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT COSTS $15,000. DESCRIPTION TO BE SENT BY EMAIL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THIS TRANSMISSION. DESCRIPTION EMAIL WILL BEAR THIS TEMPORARY FILE NUMBER. ON A WEEKDAY SOMETIME IN MAY 2014, I STOPPER AT A STOP SIGN, WITHOUT HE ENGINE FULLY HEATED UP, TURNED THE WHEEL OVER TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAD DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, APPROXIMATELY 5% OF TRAVEL, THE ENGINE REMAINED AT THE STANDARD 650 RPM CURB IDLE SPEED. HOLDING MY FOOT AT THAT POSITION, THE ENGINE REMAINED AT CURB IDLE FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE SECONDS. THE RED THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHTENING BOLT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ENGINE OPERATION WAS OTHERWISE NORMAL. AFTER ABOUT THREE SECONDS, THE ENGINE INCREASED SPEED NORMALLY, THE RED LIGHT WENT OFF AND I DROVE OFF WITHOUT FURTHER MALFUNCTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE AT ANY TIME. AT SOME POINT, IN JUNE 2014. THE SAME MALFUNCTION OCCURRED AGAIN. WHEN OPENING THE THROTTLE FROM A STANDING START, THE ENGINE REFUSED TO RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE AND REMAINED AT CURB IDLE FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE SECONDS. THE RED THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE SECONDS, AND THE ENGINE THEN RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. AGAIN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. FOR MONTHS, THERE WAS A VERY MILD LOW RPM FLAT-SPOTTING SYMPTOM. SPECIFICALLY, ONCE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, SMALL OPENINGS OF THE THROTTLE PRODUCED ONLY VERY MILD ACCELERATION, WITHOUT HESITATION. PUSHING THE THROTTLE DOWN A LITTLE FURTHER PRODUCED NORMAL ACCELERATION WITHOUT A DOWNSHIFT. ON JULY 19, 2014, I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND PULLED OUT ONTO A FEEDER ROAD. I NOTICED THE FLAT-SPOTTING AGAIN ON THE THROTTLE OPENING AT LOW RPM. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I TURNED THE KEY TO ON AND ONCE AGAIN FOLLOWED THE SLOWLY DEPRESS FULLY CALIBRATION PROCEDURE. THIS PROCEDURE INVOLVED FULLY REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL, AT THE END OF THE PROCEDURE. I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THEN RE-STARTED THE CAR. INSTANTLY UPON FIRING, THE ENGINE WENT TO A 4000 RPM IDLE AND STAYED THERE. UPDATED 08/19/14
