The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the rear windshield detached from the windshield molding and fell inside the cabin of the vehicle. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the extended warranty had expired. The contact related the failure to TSB 23-035-11REVA. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

THE REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE CAME UNGLUED WHILE DRIVING AND CREATED A MASSIVE DISTURBANCE IN THE VEHICLE. HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLY CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES AND I FEAR FOR THOSE DRIVERS WHO MAY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS IN THE FUTURE. CHRYSLER MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS BEYOND THE STATES THAT THEY HAVE ALREADY EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO ON VEHICLES WHO HAVE HAD THESE SAME ISSUES. MY VEHICLE WAS SHIPPED TO NEVADA - ALSO A WARM WEATHER STATE, YET NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY? THIS MAKES ZERO SENSE. FIX THE ISSUE CHRYSLER - SHAMEFUL BEHAVIOR, TRULY. I AM CURRENTLY HAVING ESTIMATES DONE TO SEE WHAT THE REPAIRS WILL COST AND HEARING THAT THIS WILL BE IN THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A FAULTY BUILD. THE REAR WINDOW IS GLASS AND THE GLUE BOND TO THE CONVERTIBLE TOP FAILS. I CALLED CHRYSLER IN AUGUST OF 2016 WHEN OUR WINDOW FELL LOOSE AND I LEARNED OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS NEVER OFFERED TO US. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CAR BUT MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY AND IT WAS ONLY FOR 10 YEARS. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 2/6/2005 IN PLANO TEXAS. FROM ALL THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR ALL CARS SOLD IN TEXAS. WE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE. AS I CONTINUE TO RESEARCH, THIS PROBLEM IS FAR GREATER THAN CARS SOLD IN A FEW SOUTHERN STATES AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE COVERING OUR REPAIR. I'VE ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THIS WITH CHRYSLER MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS WITH NO SUCCESS.

MY2005 CROSSFIRE ROADSTER CONVERTIBLE JUST STOPPED RUNNING TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY ROAD! THE FIRST TIME I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT WHEN THE CAR DIED. I HAD NO POWER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. AS THE LIGHT HAD NOW TURNED GREEN EVERY CAR IN EVERY LANE STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. OF COURSE THE PERSON BEHIND ME STARTED BEEPING AND SCREAMING! I GOT OUT OF THE CAR (VERY DANGEROUS) AND STARTED TO PUSH THE CAR OVER SEVERAL LANES TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. TWO MEN JUMPED OUT AND HELPED ME PUSH IT TO A SIDE ROAD OFF THE MAIN ROAD. CARS WERE NOW FLYING PAST US GOING AT LEAST 45 TO 50 MPH. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOME CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 3 DAYS THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE RELAY CONTROL MODULE WHICH HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR 9 MONTHS WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THIS SECOND TIME I WAS GOING 45 MPH WHEN THE CAR JUST DIED. I NEARLY GOT HAMMERED TRYING TO ALLOW MY SLOWING VEHICLE'S MOMENTUM TO TAKE ME ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD BEFORE STOPPING. IT WAS FRIGHTENING AND VERY DANGEROUS!!! MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BUT AFTER TWO DAYS I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO ANALYZE OR FIX THE PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS KIND ENOUGH TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED A SECOND TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP I USED ON THE FIRST INCIDENT. THEY HAVE NOW HAD MY CAR FOR OVER A WEEK WITH VERY LITTLE COMMUNICATION. THEY CLAIM THEY CAN'T GET THE CAR STARTED (DUH) AND THEY CAN'T EVEN GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT INTO A BAY TO WORK ON IT. (HUNH?). THEY CLAIM THEY NEED A COMPUTER PART FROM MERCEDES TO ANALYZE THE PROBLEM. (WHAT?) NOW THEY TELL ME THEY GOT THE CAR INTO THE BAY AND ARE CHARGING THE BATTERY. (REALLY THAT IS ALL THEY'VE DONE IN 7 DAYS?) I AM MORE THAN FRUSTRATED WITH THEM...I WAS TOLD BY THE NON-SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THEY HAVE MANY CARS IN THEIR SHOP FOR MONTHS!

CAR WAS STATIONARY AND KEY WAS INSERTED INTO IGNITION BUT COULD NOT TURN THE IGNITION IN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR. IT DOES NOT MOVE (KEY) TO INITIATE THE FUNCTION TO START THE CAR. ALSO, NO MOTION OF THE KEY MOVEMENT WAS AVAILABLE PROVIDE ANY STEPS OF THE IGNITION. THE MOVEMENT OF THE IGNITION TUMBLERS BECOME FROZE IN A JAMMED POSITION DISABLING THE KEY FROM TURNING. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THIS IS NOT A NEW COMMENT ABOUT THIS YEAR 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE IGNITION (NO TURN) IN STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WOULD NOT START (BATTERY DEAD). REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE NEXT DAY THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP THINKING IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND THE TECH DID A CHECK AND CAME BACK WITH A BAD POWER MODULE. CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN AS THE BATTERY DRAINS IN JUST A FEW HOURS. THE TECH STATED THAT HE DID A CHECK ON THE VIN NUMBER AND IT CAME BACK WITH A RECALL FOR THE POWER MODULE, WHICH I CAN'T VERIFY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONVERTIBLE TOP CONTINUED TO FALL DOWN BETWEEN 2005 AND 2018. CROWN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT (2120 CHAPMAN ROAD, CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE 37421, (888)454-8402) REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC CONVERTIBLE TOP IN 2005. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO WATER INTRUSION INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE GLASS REMAINED CONNECTED TO THE TOP BY ABOUT 1/3 OF THE ORIGINAL GLUE. THE REMAINDER HAD COME APART FROM THE GLUE LEAVING THE GLASS MOSTLY DETACHED.

THEY SUGGESTED MANAHAWKIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM RT 72 MANAHAWKIN, NJ 08050 609-597-1097. MY CAR WAS INSPECTED AND PICTURES WERE TAKENED BY DEALER ON 8/15/14 AS PER CHRYSLERS REQUEST. INVOICE NUMBER CHCS113759. I HAVE A PAPER FROM DEALER STATING WINDOW IS SEPARATING FROM TOP AND WILL NOTIFY CHRYSLER WITH RESULTS. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRYSLER CORP. STATING MINE IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DELIVERED IN SPECIFIED STATES. I DO TRAVEL AND IF I WENT BY THEIR CONCEPT TO ONLY COVER STATES THAT HAVE HIGH TEMPERATURES WHAT DO I DO WHEN I TRAVEL TO THOSE STATES WITH THE CAR? JANUARY 2013, CAR IN GARAGE,15,000 MILES AND LOCKS WOULD NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE. UNLOCKED CAR WITH KEY. CAR WOULD NOT START, AND WAS DISABLED. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER. HAD $900 REPAIR FOR NEW ELECTRONIC ENTRY PART UNDER DASHBOARD. END OF SEPTEMBER 2014, CAR 17,000 MILES, LOCKS DID NOT RESPOND TO REMOTE. OPENED DOOR WITH KEY. CHRYSLER, CONTINENTAL TIRE AND JIM ARCHER CHRYSLER DID NOTHING. WE ENDED UP REPLACING ALL 4 TIRES WITH MICHELINS AT A VERY BIG EXPENSE, SINCE THE CAR COME WITH NO SPARE. NOTHING BUT A CAN OF FIX FLAT. JIM ARCHER CHRYSLER THREATED TO CALL THE POLICE, WHEN WE APPROACHED THEN REGARDING THE TIRES. ABSOLUTELY NO HELP!

I had four (4) new tires installed on the Chrysler Crossfire listed above at Goodyear Auto Center , Memphis store number 2621 on 15 March 2022. They recommended at that time that a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) be replaced if the sensor light does not turn off. The light stayed on I returned on April 22, 2022 they replaced the rear passenger sensor. The light remained on returned to Goodyear on 10 November 2022, a technician checked the tire and said all tire sensors are working and could not rectify the problem. I was advised to visit the Auto Dealership. I visited Gossett Chrysler, 1901 Covington Pike Memphis, TN, on 25 November 2022 and they checked the tires and I was told that they do not have the equipment to reset the TPMS systems on the vehicle. As of today my TMPS light remains on and I have to check the tires or have someone manually verify the tires are inflated according to specifications. I would appreciate any help in resolving or recalling this mandated safety system problem before and accident occurs because of overinflated or underinflated tires. Thank You!

WHEELS HAVE TPMS TIRE SAFETY MONITORING SYSTEM IN THEM. REPLACED THE SENSORS IN ALL TIRES AND WENT TO DEALER TO RESET THEM, DEALER CHARGED $100 AND SAID I HAD A BAD SENSOR, WANTED EXTRA $80 TO REPLACE NEW SENSOR. I TOOK IT TO TIRE DEALER AND THEY SAID SENSORS WERE WORKING, BUT COULD NOT PROGRAM THE TPMS. EMAILED SCHROEDER WITH NO REPLIES ABOUT VALVE SAFELY PROBLEM. June 6th 2024, I got into my 2095 Chrysler crossfire and started driving hearing a rattling sound I pulled over and looked in back of my car to see the back window separated away from the soft top and was openly hanging, I had to get home from where I was at so I took back roads all way home and pulled over everytime a car got behind me. Also in past month my car sometimes starts right up and other time it won’t come on. Hubby says it’s an electrical issue. My car died on me as I pulled onto a hiway luckily I was able to pull off to the side of the road. I’ve seen several electrical issues reported on a car forum for these cars, also window separation. I have pics if needed.

THE SKREEM MODULE HAS FAILED WHICH CONTROLS THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, KEY & IGNITION. THE PART IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE THROUGH CHRYSLER OR AFTERMARKET. THE CAR CANNOT RUN WITHOUT THIS MODULE. THIS ADHESIVE IS THE ONLY SUPPORT FOR THE WINDOW TO THE FABRIC TOP. THE WINDOW/TOP CONNECTION CURRENTLY DOES NOT PROVIDE A WATERPROOF SEAL AND ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. I CAME OUTSIDE TO FIND THAT THE REAR WINDOW OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP HAD COME LOOSE AND WAS LAYING ON THE REAR DECK BEING HELD TO THE FABRIC IN 1 SMALL PLACE. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED OUTSIDE FOR 1 DAY. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T FALL OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING, POTENTIALLY SHATTERING THE GLASS NEAR MY HEAD. UNTIL THE CAR IS REPAIRED IT IS UNUSABLE IN FOUL WEATHER DUE TO WATER RUNNING IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.

I PUT THE GEAR IN~PARK~TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF & CHECKED THE EXTERIOR TO NOTICE MY NEWLY PURCHASED REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS PREMATURELY BLOWN(RECENTLY PURCHASED TIRES). I CALLED A TOW TRUCK(2ND TIME THIS MARCH MONTH BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T CRANK IN MY DRIVEWAY): UPON THEIR INTERSTATE ARRIVAL, I LEARNED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM/ENGINE HAD SHUTDOWN WITH AN 'INABILITY TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL GEAR OR ANY GEAR IN ORDER FOR THEM TO TOW IT. REAR WINDOW FAILURE -- ADHESIVE FAILS & REAR WINDOW FALLS OUT. THE FAILURE OF ANY WINDOW IS NOT NORMAL "WEAR AND TEAR." MANY OF THESE CARS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE OVER THE YEARS. CHRYSLER FINALLY -- AFTER YEARS OF COMPLAINTS -- ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN #23-03511REVA IN 2011 THAT, ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER, COVERS ONLY VEHICLES DELIVERED IN NINE SOUTHEASTERN STATES. IT EXTENDS WARRANTY COVERAGE TO TEN YEARS (WHICH MEANS CHRYSLER WILL REPLACE THE CONVERTIBLE TOPS UNDER WARRANTY). ALL THESE CARS WERE BUILT IN BELGIUM. CHRYSLER HAD TROUBLE SELLING THESE VEHICLES SO IT AUCTIONED SOME VEHICLES INTERNALLY TO ITS DEALER NETWORK, WHO WERE THEN PERMITTED TO GET WHATEVER THEY COULD FOR BRAND NEW "USED" CARS. MINE WENT TO A DODGE DEALER IN FARMVILLE VA AND WAS SOLD TO ME (VIA EBAY) WITH 3 MILES ON THE ODOMETER IN MID-2007 OR SO. 33 MOS. OF "NEW CAR WARRANTY" REMAINED WHEN I REC'D IT HERE IN HAWAII. WHEN THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED "PLATINUM" WARRANTY. THE REAR WINDOW FELL OUT OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP THREE MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL 36 MONTH WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, THE EXTENDED "PLATINUM" WARRANTY WOULDN'T COVER REPAIRS. THE CAR HAD APPROX. 8000 MILES ON IT. AS NOTED BEFORE, CHRYSLER ISSUED THE SERVICE BULLETIN MENTIONED ABOVE IN 2011 BUT ARBITRARILY EXCLUDED SOME VEHICLES DESPITE THE PROBLEM OCCURRING IN CARS ALL OVER THE NATION. I GUESS THAT THEY THOUGHT THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD HAPPEN ONLY IN CERTAIN CLIMES -- BUT THERE ARE MORE THAN NINE U.S. STATES THAT GET HOT WEATHER, E.G., HAWAII EXPERIENCES HOT SUN YEAR-ROUND. THE RPM'S REVVED AND THEN DECREASED, FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE STALLING. THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE STALLING. I BELIEVE I HAVE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE BEEN STOPPED ON THE ROAD AND THEN UNABLE TO MOVE BECAUSE MY CAR DOES NOT REGISTER THAT I'M PUSHING DOWN ON THE PEDAL. THIS PAST WEEK-END IT HAPPENED AND I HAD A TRUCK COMING AT ME BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE! THANKFULLY THE DRIVER SWERVED AROUND MY CAR WITH A LOT A HONKING AND SUCH. BUT BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT REPLICATE THAT PROBLEM, THEY SAY ITS FINE. I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND I WON'T BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE WAY! *NM
