While driving on major (multi-lane) city street (40 mph) the vehicle began to slow, steering became difficult and a single amber caution for the traction control was illuminated. Tachometer indicated 0 RPM. After pulling over, the vehicle was restarted and driven without further issue. Recall on the ignition switch was addressed in 2009. Unexpected engine shutdown could have significantly reduced safety margins in heavy traffic. No third party inspected vehicle after incident. Owner notes that key fob does not have anything hanging of it that could aggravate unwanted movement of ignition switch

On 10 October 2022 @ 21:05 hours, I was driving home (to Waconia) from Academy College (Bloomington, MN). Upon entering I35 W North entrance ramp, I had engaged my left turn signal; looking in my driver-side mirror as I merged, I seen the headlights behind me & proceeded to accelerate on the freeway. I was partially in the lane when I heard a horn & wheels screeching to my left. I was close enough to the shoulder & quickly turned sharp then the vehicle blew by me, barely colliding with my vehicle. (I stayed steady & did box breathing as I tried to calm myself). The next day I was driving my van and when I used my left turn signal, I noticed on my instrument panel it was not reflecting my turn signal light, so when I had the near collision the night before, they did not see my turn signal light! The electrical problem with this 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan while driving; at 4-7 minute intervals, this happens while driving; headlights; wipers all instrument panel lights come on; chime rings all at the same time! Days before the near collision, I brought my van in to the mechanics shop and told the owner what was happening. He knew right away that it was the TIP Module needs replacement, due to corrosion under the fuse panel. He sends customers to the Chrysler dealer, which costs $3000 to install & there is a waiting period for the part.(had put $1900 into the ATV-multi vehicle reseal side cover; oil pan gasket & water pump; l/r & r/r calipers; brake fluid; engine coolant/conditioner kit & cooling system flush(which I had to borrow from a friend, as I am only on SSDI). I looked up the part # online & order it, from my friend again; $410. Since it has to be programmed; I watched a You tube video on how to do it. I have not gotten it fixed yet, as I hurt myself at my part-time Davanni’s pizza delivery job, involving my brakes failing, nearly rolling over me. I file Work comp, then made a PIP Claim with my auto insurance for lost wages. I have 2-weeks off/Doctor. The contact stated the vehicle was taken to the dealers for repairs but still is not working and really unsafe to drive.

While driving all electrical systems fail, warning lights flash on and off, power steering and brakes fail, all lights go out. If I do not pull over and turn the car off as soon as it starts, I will stall out in the middle of the road. This has been happening for months and every mechanic I take my car to states everything tests fine.

The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked at his residence, a fire started from the drivers side tail light. The tail light, the rear bumper, and part of the rear seat were melted, additionally the rear windshield shattered. The fire department was called and they extinguished the fire using chemical powder and water. The fire marshal wrote an incident report. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact did not take the vehicle to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

THE VEHICLE RECEIVED THE RECALL REPAIR FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH; HOWEVER, SEVERAL YEARS LATER, THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED BEGAN EXHIBITING THE SAME FAILURES INDICATED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. THE AC DRAIN LEAKS WATER UNDER THE DASH WHEN THE AC IS ON AND MAY AFFECT THE AIR BAG WIRING OR OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS. THIS PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED IN 2011, BULLETIN K31, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, YEAR AND PROBLEM AS THE RECALLED CARS. WHY IS MY CAR NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL?? I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH THIS RECURRING ISSUE SINCE 2014!!!

- ON 12/01/2017 THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD IS LIT. I NOTICED THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON. - ON 12/28/2017 THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. IT STOPPED WORKING WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE WINDOW DOWN.

DURING A SERVICE VISIT TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKES REPAIRED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR PREMATURE FAILURE, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS ALSO NEEDED REPLACED, WITH THE ADDITION OF AN ADAPTER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURERS EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE REAR. THE PADS WERE NOT WEARING EVENLY, THE INSIDE PADS HAD WORN TO THE WEAR INDICATOR AND THE OUTSIDE PADS WERE WORN TO ONLY 50%. MY VAN HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 2 TIMES WITH FRONT BRAKES SHAKING THE VEHICLE SO BAD IT IS HARD TO DRIVE. IT HAS STARTED AGAIN WITHIN 8000 MILES OF THE LAST REPAIR. NOW HAS 36000 MILES ON IT. 225/65 R 16 100 My van is available for inspection; the left front driver’s-side tire was repaired (under warranty) on 6 August 2022; a plug was installed to repair a ticking sound, which ended up being a nail imbedded in the tire. Once on the road again, I still heard an annoying sound( I realized the mechanic may not have cut the plug flush). I intended to go back to have them cut it off, but forgot due to my recent part-time work activities & starting College at night.(as well as getting Covid on 28 September 2022. I was scheduled to work at Davanni’s on 21 October 2022. I got into work around 12:33. I use an App on my phone to deliver pizza’ & hoagies. I took a large order around 15:30. I was nervous driving, because my van(previously reported on this site)was having the electrical issues, even when I put my vehicle in park. I messaged my customer when I was 2-3 minutes away(I was extra cautious because my signals wouldn’t show drivers behind me that I was turning, so my 1st text would usually be at a semi-fore, then when I park in driveway, I send a text I am there. The customer had a pretty high incline when I parked. After sending the text I proceeded to exit my vehicle. (my phone was in my right hand). I stepped out with my left foot, then the right; I was fully standing when all of a sudden I felt my door pushing on my left side, I braced my left arm, looked down & noticed the van was rolling back. I felt the tire start to hit my toe then instantly brought my right foot up to step on the brake. In doing so I had my right buttocks wedged against my seat base. I slammed my elbow & ribs onto the threshold of the door and my right arm/pit against the seat. I looked up by the steering wheel where the shift stick is, & realized it was down. I reached up with my left arm & pushed up 2- notches, couldn’t reach park. I texted the person that I need help. He came out swiftly, put it in park & help me arise from my wedged position. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM AND A TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAILURE IN THE REAR. ALSO, THE NUT VALVE STINT WAS CORRODED. I had a flat tire (drivers front). I Parked on a level parking lot. I put bricks behind other tires to prevent movement. Next I loosened lug nuts, I then removed the spare and original equipment jack. I began jacking the car up with the jack in the area indicated for jacking by the instructions. The tire was off the ground. I was beginning to spin off the lug nuts when the car dropped with a brrrrrt sound. The main screw in the scissors jack pulled through the threaded nut on the end. The jack was still upright but the screw threads failed. No one was hurt but the potential is high for the jack to fail suddenly and without warning. Note the van was not occupied or in any way loaded. The second picture attempts to show the screw threads deformed after pulling through the nut.

I BOUGHT THE VAN USED AND THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE ON ITS OWN I HAVE TO FORCE IT SHUT OR LEAVE THE AUTOMATIC BUTTON OFF AND THERE ARE TIME IT STICKS AS I AM TRYING TO OPEN IT I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES.

THE AIR FLOW DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. NO MATTER WHAT BUTTON I PUSH THE AIR FLOW IS STUCK ON THE FACE AND THE AIR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLOWS OUT HOT AND THE AIR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE BLOWS OUT COLD. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE DEFROSTER DOESN'T WORK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IMPAIRING VISIBILITY AND "VERY" DANGEROUS DURING BAD WEATHER.

TRAFFIC STOPPED, FOR ME TO RESTART IT AND BACK UP. ON TUESDAY 10/23/18, I TRIED BACKING IT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TO BRING IT FOR SERVICE. THE RPM'S WENT HIGH, IT WASN'T MOVING, AND WAS SHAKING. I SHUT IF IT OFF AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN. IT IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE, AND I DIDN'T SEE ANY RECALLS FOR IT ONLINE, AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE UNSAFE CONDITION! I SAW HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOR DODGE CARAVANS SHUTTING OFF.

I WAS DRIVING OUR VAN ON VACATION IN OUT OF STATE ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MPH. MY LOW TIRE SENSOR CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE YELLOW EXCLAMATION POINT LIGHT IN THE DASH. I WAS CLOSE TO MY EXIT, PULLED OFF AND INTO A GAS STATION WHERE THERE WAS AN AIR PUMP, LOOKING TO ASSES THE SITUATION. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT AIR INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE, WHICH WAS NOW REALLY LOOKING FLAT, I PUSHED THE AIR NOZZLE AGAINST THE VALVE STEM WHICH PUSHED RIGHT INSIDE THE RIM. I HAD TO CALL MY INSURANCE TO HAVE A WRECKER COME, THEY PUT MY DOUGHNUT TIRE ON. I WENT AND HAD A TIRE PLACE PUT IN A REGULAR VALVE STEM. THE ORIGINAL VALVE STEM IS STUCK TO THE INSIDE OF THE RIM, AND APPARENTLY HAD COME LOSE BECAUSE WHATEVER HAD HELD IT THERE FAILED. WHEN I GOT HOME, I HAD THE VALVE STEM REPLACED WITH A NEW VALVE STEM WITH A PRESSURE SENSOR. I FEEL THIS IS UNSAFE, BECAUSE LOSING ANY OF YOUR TIRES PRESSURE AT THE RATE OF SPEED WE WERE DRIVING, COULD HAVE MADE US LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, HARMING OURSELVES OR OTHERS DRIVING NEAR US.

WHILE OPERATING OUR 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE'S VALVE STEM ON THE TIRE FAILED (OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 45 SECONDS AFTER CONCLUDING HIGHWAY DRIVING). THE NUT HOLDING THE VALVE STEM ON APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN CAUSING THE SENSOR TO FALL INTO THE TIRE AND RESULTED IN THE TIRE DEFLATING IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS THE THIRD SENSOR FAILURE ON THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY THE FIRST TWO OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY - AIRING UP TIRES CAUSED THE STEMS TO BREAK IN HALF. A CALL TO THE GENERAL DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE OCCURRING. I HAD THE VALVE STEM REPLACED AT A COST OF $140.00. ON AUGUST 20, 2013 THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO GOOD YEAR. THEY TOLD ME THE TWO VALVE STEMS ON THE PASSENGER WHEELS, FRONT/BACK WERE VERY CORRODED. THEY DID MANAGE TO FILL BOTH TIRES FOR ME. THE LIGHT WENT OFF. TWO DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I WENT TO FILL THE TIRES AND THE ONE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF, ANOTHER FLAT TIRE! PUT ON THE SPARE, DROVE HOME, CALLED AROUND AND HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO BE FIXED AGAIN. $700 LATER, 4 NEW TIRES, ANOTHER TPMS REPLACED, AND AN ALIGNMENT. I RECEIVED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE L25 IN MAY 2015. I CONTACTED ALHAMBRA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR APPROXIMATELY EVERY THREE WEEKS FROM MAY 2015. THEY REPEATEDLY TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART, THAT THEY ORDERED IT, AND THAT THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN IT COMES IN. IT HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS AND I'M STILL GETTING THE SAME STORY. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALER AND THEY SAID A BAD KEY PROBLEM IS SEPARATE FROM THE WIN MODULE DETENT RING PROBLEM. THEY INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM AND SAID A BAD WIN MODULE IS THE CAUSE FOR NOT STARTING. MY BELIEF IS THAT THE LOOSE DETENT RING CAUSED A FAILURE OF THE KEY DUE TO A BAD CONNECTION FOR YEARS. I'M ALSO AFRAID WE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE THE RECALL AS THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH ON A TOWN ROAD AND THE CAR RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. THERE WAS A TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT THAT CAME ON. ALL ELECTRICAL STILL WORKED BUT NO ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. WHAT IF I WAS ON THE HIGH WAY? WHAT IF I WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION? MY WIFE DRIVES MY 3 CHILDREN AROUND IN THIS CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES THIS PAST WEEK. NEVER DID IT BEFORE. AND I'VE ALREADY HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED THAT DODGE SENT OUT A RECALL FOR.

DRIVING 45 MPH AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF LOSING POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED. HAPPENED AGAIN TWICE 2 DAYS LATER. THOUGHT IT WAS BAD GAS. DID SEE BRIEFLY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ONE OF THE OCCURRENCES OTHERWISE NO CLUES. HAD ALREADY FILLED UP TWICE SO RULED OUT GAS. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND THE ONLY CODE HE COULD PULL UP WAS THE EGR VALVE AND MAYBE THE SPARK PLUGS, BUT COULDN'T GUARANTEE THAT WAS THE CAUSE. REPLACED PLUGS AND VALVE AND SO FAR THE ENGINE HAS NOT SHUT OFF AND THAT INCLUDES ONE 1000 MILE RT, AND TWO 200 MILE RTS SINCE THEN, BUT I'M STILL NOT TOTALLY CONVINCED. WHILE DRIVING OUR 2009 GRAND CARAVAN TO WORK, THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE LEFT ACROSS THE CENTER LINE AND OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. ON 1/18/20010 I EXPERIENCED UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION OF MY 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT GALEANA DODGET, FT. MYERS FL ON 1/24. I WAS TOLD THAT FUEL INDUCTION PARTS NEEDED CLEANING AND THAT WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. ON 1/24 AFTER ONLY 377 MILES SINCE SERVICE I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF A 3 LANE HIGHWAY DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH. WHEN I BEGAN MOVING TO THE FAR LEFT LANE AND BRING THE VEHICLE UP TO THE POSTED SPEED OF 50 MPH I NOTICED THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESS BEYOND MY INTENTION. I ATTEMPTED TO STOP ACCELERATION BY APPLYING THE BRAKES TO NO EFFECT. IT SLOWED THE RATE OF ACCELERATION WHICH RESUMED AS SOON AS I RELEASED THE BRAKE. AS THE HIGHWAY BUSY I HAD A HARD TIME CONTROLLING THE CAR AND PULLING BACK TO THE RIGHT LANE SO I COULD SAFELY STOP THE CAR ON THE SHOULDER WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. Car will crank but not start. Can cannot be started intermittently which could be dangerous considering location of vehicle, adverse weather conditions, etc. There are no warning lamps or messages related to the problem. This is a known problem with other Chrysler models and model years. TIMP fuel pump relay has failed. Bypassing the fuel pump relay will allow car to start. See attached file of Vertical Vissions' bypass solutions to this problem.

THEY ADVISE USING FOB WITHOUT KEYS ATTACHED. THIS LAST OCCURRENCE OCCURRED WITH NO KEYS ATTACHED, ONLY THE FOB IN THE IGNITION, SO THEIR WORK AROUND DOES NOT WORK. NOTE THE ONLY WAY WE EVEN KNOW IT HAS STALLED IT THE SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING, UNTIL WE CAN GET IT STOPPED AND REALIZE THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. THERE IS NO OTHER WARNING ITS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FWY MY VAN TURNED OFF. IT WAS AFTER DRIVING OVER A PART OF THE FREEWAY THAT SEEMED TO HAVE A DIP. MY GAUGES WENT TO "0" & I FELT A LOSS OF POWER. WE WERE WALKING UP TO OUR VEHICLE AND USED THE KEYCHAIN REMOTE TO OPEN THE REAR LIFTGATE. IT WENT ALL THE WAY OPEN AND MY WIFE WALKED UNDERNEATH IT TO PUT SOME THINGS IN THE CAR. AFTER IT WENT ALL THE WAY OPEN, IT STAYED THERE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN CAME DOWN HARD AND SLAMMED MY WIFE IN THE HEAD. VAN HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING, IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE BUT THE VAN WON'T TURN ON, YET ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL DEVICES CONTINUE TO WORK PERFECTLY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VAN WILL EVENTUALLY START, BUT OTHER TIMES WE HAVE HAD TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT PARKED DUE TO IT NOT STARTED AFTER TRYING FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. WE TOOK IT TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THE WIN MODULE WAS REPLACED AND A NEW KEY WAS ORDERED AND REPROGRAMMED AT A COST OF ALMOST $1000! A FEW WEEKS AFTER GETTING THE VAN BACK THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN LEFT ME (PREGNANT) AND MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN STRANDED IN 101 DEGREE TEMPERATURE. A TECH FROM THE DEALERSHIP MET WITH US THIS MORNING TO LOOK AT THE VAN AND SUGGESTED IT MIGHT BE THE STARTER. THE SEATBELTS TEND TO TIGHTEN SLIGHTLY AND WHEN TRYING TO LOOSEN THEM THEY WILL LOCK UP AND HAVE TO BE UNBUCKLED TO RESET THEM. SOMETIMES THEY WILL STILL REMAIN LOCKED UP EVEN WHEN THE SEATBELT IS UNBUCKLED. SOMETIMES JERKING THE BELT SEVERAL TIMES WILL FINALLY RELEASE IT. ON AUGUST 19, 2011, OUR 10 YEAR OLD CHILD GOT CAUGHT IN THIS FAULTY SEATBELT. ON A LONG OUT OF TOWN TRIP, THE CROSS BELT WAS BEHIND THE HEADREST AND THE LAP BELT HAD BECOME TIGHTENED. ON 6/27/2010 MY FAMILY AND MYSELF WERE TRAVELING TO HACKENSACK MN ON HWY 371 AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE MY MINI VAN KEPT INCREASING IN SPEED. NO INJURIES HAPPENED I CALMLY GOT IT TO STOP BUT I HAD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE CRUISE WAS ON BUT NOT ACTIVATED. I TRIED TO HIT THE CANCEL SWITCH HIT THE ON OFF SWITCH ALL THE TIME PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. It started out as the van would not start almost everytime I got ready to leave and would have someone jump my battery, and it would start right back up. after a few weeks of having to do this, i had help jumping my battery once again but this time my wind shield wipers wouldnt shut off resulting in me having to take the fuse out and back in when it rains. when this happened the what i believe is called the "multi functional shift " (the stick on the left side of steering wheel that controls my wipers, wiper fluid, turn signals, bright lights, etc.) completely stopped working with no sign of it having problems previously. Along with that the stereo keeps flickering and switching channels on its own. Lastly, when i am pumping gas, i can barely pull up the trigger without the pump shutting off like as if my tank was full. This has all happened in the last 6 or 7 months or so and has not yet been investigated.

AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHEN STARTED VEHICLE AND NEVER TURNED OFF. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY BATTERY CAUSING THE LIGHT. REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THEY RE-DID THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY TOLD ME THE ORC MODULE IS BAD DUE TO THE BATTERY. THEY SAID MY BATTERY WAS CHARGING TO 1000 VOLTS AND WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE 800VOLTS. SO NOW I AM STUCK WITH A BILL FOR $631. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SAME YEAR MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR THIS REASON AND MINE DIDN'T QUALIFY BECAUSE IT WAS MADE 23 DAYS AFTER THE RECAL NOTICE S07. THE VAN IS IN THE SHOP CURRENTLY WAITING ON THE PART.

MY VAN ONLY HAS 142,000 MILES ON IT , THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE HANDLED BY THE AUTO MAKER, NOT HAVING CUSTOMERS SPEND NEEDLESS MONEY ON DEALER RECOMMENDED FIXES THAT DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I JUST SPENT OVER 700 TO HAVE DEALER RECOMMENDED REPAIRS OF THROTTLE BODY SERVICE AND TUNE UP AND THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A SHALLOW LEFT-HAND CURVE WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT, COMING OUT OF THE CURVE, ALL THE SUDDEN THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE (LFB) BEGAN TO CHATTER AS THOUGH THE LFB ABS WAS ENGAGING. THE ESP BAS AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. THE VAN VIOLENTLY SWERVED TOWARDS THE ONCOMING LANE. LUCKLY, THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC COME AT ME. I WAS ABLE TO OVER CORRECT WITH THE STEERING AND REGAIN CONTROL. I TOOK THE VAN TO A LOCAL SHOP WHICH DIAGNOSED THE STEERING POSITION SENSOR INSIDE THE AIR BAG CLOCKSPRING TO BE BAD. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I FEEL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED!

THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY LIGHTNING JULY 2014 WHEN IT WAS PARKED UNDER A TREE DURING A BAD STORM. IT EVENTUALLY WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS BY PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE AFTER THEY ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS REPAIRED. SEVERAL TIMES THEY REPAIRED IT AND PUT ME BACK INTO THE DANGEROUS VEHICLE WHICH WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND SEVERAL TIMES WOULD NOT BRAKE. I INSISTED THEY DECLARE IT A TOTAL LOSS BEFORE SOMETHING TERRIBLE WOULD HAPPEN. THEY FINALLY AGREED IN OCTOBER 2014. FILED COMPLAINT ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. CALLED CHRYSLER RECALL CENTER AND EXPLAINED THE VEHICLE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMED THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THEY STATED THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE URGENCY OF MY REPAIR AS THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED 2 TIMES IN 3 WEEKS. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN OVER THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. SHAKING IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKES APPLIED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. STARTED INTERMITTENTLY AT ABOUT 12,000-13,000 MILES, PROCEEDED TO GET WORSE. HUSBAND AT FIRST COULDN'T FEEL IT SO I DID NOT TAKE IT IN. WHEN IT GOT REALLY BAD I TOLD MY HUSBAND TO TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE AGAIN, HE SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE ROTORS TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER. ON ONE OCCASION, MY VEHICLE SWERVED WITHOUT WARNING INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE, LIKE BEING BLOWN BY A STRONG GUST OF WIND. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED PULLING AND MY WIFE HAD TO FIGHT IT TO GET IT TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN I ARRIVED I TRIED IT AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING & STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR. THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM HAD IMPROPERLY SENSED THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION AND HAD BEEN TRYING TO COMPENSATE. WHILE REPLACEMENT OF THE SAID PARTS RESOLVED THE PROBLEM, MY FAMILY WAS LUCKY TO HAVE AVOIDED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHEN THE VEHICLE SWERVED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE THIRD ROW SEAT HAD BUTTONS TO FOLD IT DOWN. THE BUTTONS WERE VERY EASY TO TOUCH , SO THE CHILDREN CAN EASILY FOLD DOWN THE SEATS. THERE WAS NO STOP BUTTON, SO THE SEATS WOULD KEEP FOLDING. THE SEAT ALMOST "CRUSHED" HER CHILD SEAT. SHE HAD NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER . THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,899. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
