My van caught fire. Randomly after not being driven for more than 15 hours. The investigator says it is believed to be the inverter in the back drivers side panel under the cup holders which short circuited and caught fire which engulfed my entire vehicle in a mater if 40 minutes while waiting for the fire department to arrive. The van is obviously a goner. Burnt to a crisp along with all of our DeWalt power tools batteries fishing poles tackle chainsaw and 4 brand new car seats that were just purchased with the last 2 months. Along with cracking all the windows on that side of my home due to the heat from the blaze...

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the battery warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to his residence. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the alternator was burned and needed to be replaced. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,938.

Hi. The heater turn on and off without me touching the button to turn it on this problem is very annoying I almost had a accident due to this annoying problem. I drive a 2011 dodge grand caravan crew. This problem started 2 months believe me is very annoying problem. Need to recall this problem fix it asap. Thanks.

IT STARTED WITH MY VEHICLE NOT STARTING INTERMITTENTLY. AS THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE AT FIRST THOUGHT IT MAY BE THE FUEL PUMP. HAVING THIS REPLACED. THE VAN HAS COMPLETED WENT DEAD WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND HAD KIDS IN CAR WITH ME. TRIES TO GO DEAD WHILE SITTING IDLE AT REDLIGHTS AND WILL SHAKE DURING ACCELARATION AND TRIES TO QUIT. READING ALOT ON THIS AND OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. OTHER VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SAME ISSUES ALSO. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND ADDRESS ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURIED OR KILLED DUE TO THE VEHICLE GOING DEAD WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. PLEASE HELP ON GETTING THIS RECALL GOING. The tipm fuel pump relay is stuck causing the fuel pump to stay on even when the vehicle is turned off and the key is not in the ignition switch. This problem is, its dangerous if I was ever to be in an accident and fuel pump will stay on according to the mechanic. Also my car battery is drained after an hour making it undrivable until I call a tow or get a jump start. It was inspected by a mechanic and the vehicle is available for inspection. No warning lamps were on or previous symptoms before 4/30/21. Only the sound of a running fuel pump when the car is completely off. Mechanic states car is known to have this issue. Recalls were made for other dodge vehicles with same part number but they failed to include the this model.

The fuel pump relay failed. This is a very common problem with Caravans, and is very expensive to fix. The Grand Cherokee and Durango have the same design, and there is a recall on those models. The Caravan should have a recall declared as well. Thank you.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITH THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND THE KEY OUT THE IGNITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (ANDERSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 5711 E STATE ST, ROCKFORD, IL 61108) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 151,774.

My Chrysler Van first started to experience strange electrical issues. Key FOB would not open doors, driver seat could not be adjusted without blowing a fuse, and finally it started to get almost impossible to start when the engine was cold in the morning. I took it to my trusted mechanic, and after running a diagnostic, he said they got over 300 message errors. However, since they were not a dealership, they were unable to repair my van. They said they had seen this issue before, and I needed to take it to a Chrysler dealership for repair. I took it to Chrysler, with the note from my mechanic about the 300 errors, and they said this was a WELL KNOW issue. They commented that I was lucky to be able to drive the van to their dealership, because most vans with this problem had to be towed in. They said my entire fuse box needed to be replaced, and the cost of the job would be over $1,100.00 dollars, BUT THE REAL ISSUE WOULD BE GETTING THE BOX IN THE FIRST PLACE! The service department mgr. said it took 1 customer over 9 months to have his van repaired because the part was unavailable. I placed my order on 3/28/23. As of today June 5, the part is not scheduled until June 23. In the meantime, along with the $1,100 repair, I am paying $160/month to rent a vehicle from my brother. Since this is a known issue, I believe Chrysler should have to pay: 1) $791.06 for the fuse box. 2) Half the labor costs for installation and programming - About $150. 3) Reimburse me for at least 3/4 of the cost of renting my brothers car. Having to wait MONTHS for a part that has been a problem for years is unacceptable for a major car manufacturer.

Driving home from work and my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan just turned off on me while I was at a red light. It took sometime for my vehicle to turn back on. Since then I’ve had this problem now for 3 days. I’ve taken it in to my local machine and was told I only needed a new gas cap. Well that didn’t work and I found myself again stuck at a red light. After doing some investigation on Dodge Grand Caravans I saw other people had issues with a ignition switch. Different years same brand and if this is a cause dodge needs to look into this. I’ll be going to a actual dealership to see if they can diagnose the problem. Only scared I’ll be stuck on the highway.

TIPM - TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILURE. CAR INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START, KEEPS THE FUEL PUMP ON DRAINING THE BATTERY, RADIO WON'T WORK, AIR CONDITIONING. I REPLACED THE BATTERY THE FIRST TIME IT DRAINED IT THINKING THE BATTERY WENT BAD. COST ME 3 TIMES IN TOWING CHARGES. FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING WHILE DRIVING A FEW TIMES. CAN ONLY BE REPAIRED AT THE DEALER'S AND THEY SAY IT IS OVER $1,500 TO REPAIR.

INTERMITTENT NO START ISSUE. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARM, I STOP FOR A QUICK STOP, AND ATTEMPT TO RESTART VEHICLE; NO START - NO CRANK, NO CLICK, NO HUM, NO HISS, NOTHING. AFTER 30 MINUTES TO AN HOUR THE VEHICLE WILL START WITH NO ISSUES. HAVE HAD VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS YET UNABLE TO RECREATE THE NO START ISSUE. STARTER IS GOOD, ALTERNATOR IS GOOD. HAS HAPPENED IN WARM WEATHER AND IN COLD WEATHER AND HAS HAPPENED A DOZEN TIMES OR MORE SINCE DECEMBER 16, 2019.

WHILE I WAS SLIGHTLY ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND TURNING AROUND A CORNER GOING 5-10 MPH MY DRIVERS SIDE QUARTER WINDOW EXPLODED AND THE DRIVERS SIDE NEAR PASSENGER WINDOW SHATTERED. I WAITED FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT TO ACCESS THE SCENE TO SEE IF SOMETHING HIT MY CAR AND THEY CONCLUDED THAT NOTHING ENTERED OR EXITED MY VEHICLE. THEY ADVISED ME TO CONTACT DODGE ABOUT DEFECTIVE WINDOWS BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT CAUSED THIS AND NO DAMAGE TO THE VAN OTHER THAN THE WINDOWS. DODGE IS NOT ASSUMING ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND IS DENYING REIMBURSEMENT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HAPPEN. UPON RESEARCHING IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE IT APPEARED TO HAPPENED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT. MY DAUGHTER HAD SHATTERED GLASS ALL OVER HER WITH GLASS DOWN HER SHIRT AND SHE WAS SCREAMING. MY VEHICLE IS OLDER BUT CLEARLY IF THIS IS A 'NORMAL' THING TO HAPPEN FOR A VEHICLE THIS AGE THEN ALL DODGE VEHICLES SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD AT A CERTAIN AGE/MILEAGE. I WAS MORE THAN WILLING TO DO ANYTHING NECESSARY FOR DODGE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE BUT KEPT GETTING TOLD THAT THEY WERE PROCESSING THE CLAIM AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY NEEDED FROM ME. WHEN THEY CALLED TO TELL ME THEY DENIED MY CLAIM THEY ACTED LIKE THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO SHOW THAT THEY WERE AT FAULT BECAUSE AN INSPECTION WAS NOT DONE.

I was driving on the highway and about to increase speed from 60mph to 65mph then the vehicle shut off. I lost power steering and ability to brake I was near an exit and was able to roll into a safe spot. Vehicle would crank but not start. I contacted AAA for tow service. When AAA arrived the vehicle started. I had it towed anyway. Since the incident the vehicle starts. I am afraid to drive. I had passengers with me that night and this vehicle (engine) failure could have resulted in multiple injuries or fatalities. I purchased this vehicle from a used car dealership in October of 2020. Within a week the vehicle broke down. It would crank but not start. The used dealership had the battery replaced then the TIPM and finally a bypass was performed on the fuel pump relay switch in December of 2020. I've had no issues of this nature since those repairs. Now I have another serious safety hazard issue.

The contact was able to pull off to the side of the road where she saw smoke emerging from the front of the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle, the contact opened the hood to see the fire behind the engine. The fire department was contacted and was able to extinguish the fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact has not notified a local dealer. The vehicle has not been diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was relating the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

THESE VEHICLES HAVE AN ONGOING ISSUE OF HAVING THE CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE. YOU CAN HAVE THE SPARK PLUG, SPARK PLUG WIRE, THE COIL PACK, CYLINDER HEAD VALVE, FUEL INJECTOR, VACUUM, SHAFTS AND EVERYTHING ELSE REPLACED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL STILL COME ON SAYING THAT THIS CYLINDER IS MISFIRING. I HAVE HEARD AND READ MANY ARTICLES THAT SAY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND EVERYONE IS SURPRISED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. AT THIS POINT, YOUR ONLY OPTION TO HAVE A RE-MANUFACTURED ENGINE INSTALLED WHICH CAN END UP COSTING MORE THAN YOU OWE ON THE CAR WHICH MANY PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD. HOW CAN YOU ALLOW A VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND NOT HAVE A SOLUTION TO FIX IT? THIS CODE APPEARED ON MARCH 2019 AFTER A WEEK OF PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE. FOUND A PUDDLE OF OIL IN MY DRIVEWAY, TOOK TO MECHANIC, INFORMED ME THE ENGINE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS BROKEN, AND HE HAD 10 OF THESE RECENTLY. ALSO TOLD ME WHEN HE CONTACTED DEALER FOR PARTS, THEY SAID THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE, THATS WHY THEY KEEP A LOT IN STOCK.

Dealership still cannot pinpoint exactly what is wrong but the car does not start. One time it’ll start and the next it won’t. It’s actually left me stranded in the cold because that seems to be the only time it won’t start. It’s happened to many other grand caravan owners too. No mechanic I’ve taken it to can solve the problem I’ve spent so much money replacing parts on this car.

This vehicle always fails to start in the colder weather. After a review of this condition. It has been found that the fuel pump relay does not send proper signal. This relay is a part of the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). When it fails to operate, the vehicle will experience long crank times. With its ignition switch style, as soon as you turn the key, the vehicle will continue to crank UNLESS you manually turn the switch all the way back to the off position. This condition will cause the starter motor to overheat or burn up. Eventually the vehicle may start then die. Fuel delivery is too inconsistent when colder weather arises. You can't just replace a plug-in-style replacement fuel pump relay since it is a part of the whole TIPM. This vehicle has not yet died in traffic or on the highway thank God. There is never any CEL illumination or any stored fault codes. It started doing this the first winter I bought it. This is my second year and it's only just Fall and it is acting up again. This is a KNOWN issue among these TIPMs that are on more than just this vehicle but many other Dodge/Chryslers with this same TIPM. Someone needs to take accountability for a faulty product that needs redesigned before these issues continue to affect the consumers that trust in their product. I hope that this issue is addressed and resolved before others continue to complain about vehicle faults, or even worse experience any catastrophic conditions resulting in death of consumers based on this faulty TIPM, that controls most aspects of the whole vehicle.

purchased van no problem mechanic gave great review following week wouldnt start mechanic said tipm is bad we had tipm rep[laced already 3 times and now its bad again this time i was with my family when van completly shut off on highway doing 70 miles a hour we have to carry a jumper battery pack with us to start van i called crysler and they informed me there is no problems with my vans tipm well thats funny google has over 45 thousand articles about these problems and nobody does anything about it till people die

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT RESETTING DUE TO P0740 CODE EVEN AFTER CHANGING VALVE BODY AND RELATED SOLENOIDS ON TRANSMISSION. VAN DOES NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES WHILE DRIVING. NO GAS MILEAGE ISSUES. CURRENTLY IT IS ~93K. DEALER IS ALSO NOT SURE. HE SAYS NEED TO OVERHAUL THE TORQUE CONVERTER (COST $1100) THEN HE WILL KNOW IF ANYTHING ELSE IS DAMAGED. IN THAT CASE HE HAS TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION (COST $2800). 2ND OPTION TO PUT A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION (COST $3100). I HAVE READ ONLINE THERE IS A ONGOING ISSUE WITH DODGE TRANSMISSIONS (2011 TO 2014 MODELS) WHICH IS NOT BEING RECALLED. MANY A TIMES CHANGING TRANSMISSION DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. MY PERSONAL MECHANIC ALSO SAID HE GOT THIS ISSUE IN MANY OF THE DODGE VANS. WOULD REQUEST NHTSA TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER THIS INVESTIGATION.

TAMARA ARE ALL I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY. AND IT WAS WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AT A SERVICE STATION AND WAIT 45 MINS FOR SOMEONE TO COME. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE THE NEXT DAY WHICH COST 150 DOLLARS. THEN I TRIED TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP TO BE FIXED BUT AFTER 1.5 WEEKS THEY SAY IT WOULD BE 2500 TO FIX. WE DIDN'T HAVE THAT BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR HEART FAILURE. I HAD COMPLAINTS OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT THE VAN. IT HAS NO POWER GOING IN REVERSE, AND IT WOULD HARD SHIFT FROM A STOP. I TOOK IT IN TWICE BEFORE THE CLUTCH BROKE. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THEY SUGGESTED. YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN THIS VAN.

Battery light turned on and vehicle immediately shut off. Got car jump to make it home and all electrical components went hay wire - all dash lights blinking - transmission wouldn’t not shit and accelerated by itself, headlights wouldn’t go on, windows wouldn’t go down. Dodge recalled every other car model in their line for a bad ALTERNATOR rapid failure, except Caravan, which should absolutely be included. It’s a know issue - car shouldn’t be dying while driving with under 100k miles.

IT CAN HAPPEN DRIVING SLOW (THROUGH TOWN) OR ON THE FREEWAY. ONCE THE LIGHT COMES ON, NO NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IS SEEN WHILE DRIVING OTHER THAN CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED OFF IF IT WAS ENGAGED BEFORE THE LIGHT COMES ON. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND PUT IN PARK, IT WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK (SUCH AS PUT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE), THE KEY MUST BE CYCLED. ONCE THE KEY IS CYCLED, EVERYTHING RETURNS TO NORMAL (ESC LIGHT IS OFF, AND THE SHIFTER CAN BE ENGAGED TO NEUTRAL, DRIVE, REVERSE ETC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TRANSITOWNE DODGE AND INSPECTED BY BOTH THE DEALER AND BY A CHRYSLER INSPECTOR. VIA LETTER, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE COMPANY HAD NO INTENTIONS OF COVERING THE COSTS OF REPAIR TO THE VAN, WHICH ARE UPWARDS OF $6000. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FCA GROUP REPEATEDLY BY HAVE BEEN MET WITH DEAD ENDS AND NON-STARTERS. I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING AND HAD THE CAR SHUT OFF ON A 55MPH ZONE OF A HIGHWAY WITH 3 KIDS PLUS MYSELF AND HUSBAND IN THE CAR FOR 45 MINUTES BLOCKING A LANE OF TRAFFIC WHILE WAITING TO BE TOWED. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR STRAND US IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS 5 TIMES SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR 08/17. WE HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THAT IT LOOKS TO BE THE TIPM THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING AND CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO RUN RANDOMLY, SOMETIMES CONTINUOUSLY FOR HOURS DRAINING THE BATTERY, OR STOP RUNNING CAUSING THE CAR TO DIE DUE TO LACK OF FUEL WHILE HAVING ALL HEADLIGHTS, WIPES AND INTERIOR LIGHTS FUNCTIONING. THEN THE VAN STARTED WITH A DIFFERENT KEY. DROVE IT FOR 4 MINUTES AND THEN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. WENT TO START IT AGAIN, IT KEPT STALLING. IT STALLED ABOUT 5 TIMES. WE SWITCHED BACK TO THE FIRST KEY THAT WOULD NOT START THE CAR. IT ACTUALLY STARTED TWICE. WE LEFT THE VAN WITH THE AUTO REPAIR PLACE. THEY STATED THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE VAN. WE GOT IT BACK ON OCTOBER 18TH. IT HAS ONLY STARTED ONE TIME SINCE THEN THE FIRST TRY. IT HAS STALLED OCCASIONALLY SINCE THEN. ONCE ON OCT 21ST, THE BRAKING SYSTEM DID NOT ENGAGE WHILE THE VAN WAS BEING BACK OUT. ONCE BEFORE THE ISSUES STARTED TO HAPPEN, THE GAS PUMP DID NOT STOP AND THE FUEL OVER FLOWED.

I HAVE HAD MY VAN NOW FOR ABOUT 700 MILES, WE BOUGHT IT USED FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. SO I TURNED OFF THE VAN HOPING TO RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE VAN DID NOT WANT TO START BACK UP. (AT THIS POINT I AM IN A ALLEY WITH ONE WAY TRAFFIC) FINALLY I GOT THE VAN TO START BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON WHEN I PUT IT INTO GEAR IT SPUTTERED AND THEN STOPPED IT GAVE A RED LIGHT WITH A BOLT THROUGH IT AND ALSO THE OIL LIGHT CAME ONE. VAN WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN OVER AND OVER. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TIPM AND FUEL PUMP. BUT FOUND OUT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, AND THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME PART. IT IS THE FUEL RELAY SWITCH INSIDE OF TIPM THAT GOES BAD. IT SEEMS THE FUEL PUMP IS FINE. BOUGHT THIS USED VAN IN NOVEMBER AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT FROM THE TIME WE BOUGHT IT. THOUGHT IT WAS A TCIM FAILURE DODGE REPAIR SHOP SAID, NO, THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS AFFECTED BY TCIM FAILURE. HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED BY ANOTHER SHOP. TOOK IT HOME AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. THE SHOP TOWED IT BACK AND FOUND THAT IT IS THE TCIM CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP FAILURE. WAITING TO SEE WHAT WILL BE THE ADDITIONAL COST, BESIDES THE $600 + TO CHANGE THE FUEL PUMP.

There were several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road, where he successfully restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the vehicle had been repaired, the vehicle would fail to start intermittently, and would only start after several attempts. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. THE VAN'S ENGINE SHUTDOWN WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VAN AT NIGHT AND BARELY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE LOSING CONTROL OF STEERING. SHE HAD JUST MADE A RIGHT TURN ONTO THE HIGHWAY. TOWED THE VAN TO A LOCAL DEALER AND FOUND THE ISSUE TO BE THE DIODE ON THE ALTERNATOR FAILING CAUSING ELECTRICAL FEEDBACK TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM). SO HAD TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR AND PCM REPLACED. I AM AWARE OTHER VEHICLE LINES OF 2011 HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE AND AM UNSURE WHY THE DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IS NOT ON THE LIST. The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal whining sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the water pump was replaced. The contact stated that several months later, while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact used excessive force to steer the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where a power steering flush was performed; however, the failure persisted. The mechanic replaced the steering pump, which seemed to correct the failure. The contact then stated that the whining sound returned without warning. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the valves inside the engine connected to the fuel injector were defective and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the diagnostic tests, the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

My car was fine until one day in rain the whole dash and radio shut off and came back on repeatedly, spedometer bouncing each time. Took it to dealer/JDByrider and "they dont know prob/happens all the time" w a very "oh well" attitude. They did nothing. I called again when car ALSO started shutting completely off at long red lights. I was told next appt available would be 23 days! Thats still 4 days away. NOW in addition to dash/radio/spedometer problem the van doesnt just die at LONG lights, it dies if I have to stop for drive thrus, stop signs, short lights. The headlights have also started flickering very very badly. Im upset that repairs are supposed to be covered by JDByrider and theyve had me driving this dangerous car for almost a month before trying to fix it. Im not allowed to get work done on it elsewhere or else it makes future repairs on parts not covered by JDByrider. I have 4 kids and this car is not safe on road and Im literally not allowed to get someone else to fix it if I want it to continue to be covered by JDB. JDB blames Dodge. My car purchase was supposed to cover repairs and instead Im being forced to drive 4 kids around in car dealer cant fix and they claim Dodge dont know how to either. I should have never been expected to wait almost a month for this to be addressed.

While driving my vehicle at highway speed (75mph), the driver's seat headrest, for lack of a more descriptive term, exploded and struck me in the back of my head. After the incident I stopped the vehicle and looked at the headrest. It appears to be spring loaded and something in the headrest failed causing it to spring forward for no reason. The headrest is now compressed and held in place with zip ties until I can find a replacement. I feel this is a safety issue due to the disorientation and headache that immediately followed the incident.

ABOUT 11/30 I WENT TO START THE CAR IN THE MORNING., THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ON WHEN I TURNED THE KEY, AND WOULD NOT CHANGE SPEED OR TURN OFF AS MUCH AS I TRIED THE BACK AND THEY WOULD NOT TURN ON. I TRIED TURNING THE KEY ON AND OFF WITHOUT STARTING THE CAR A NUMBER OF TIMES WITH DIFFERENT NUMBER OF TRIES BEFORE RESTARTING AS A POSSIBLE RESETTING WITH NO CHANGE. STARTED VAN ONE MORNING AND LEFT RUNNING TO WARM UP, CAME BACK OUTSIDE AND IT HAD DIED. THE WIPERS WERE MID-WINDSHIELD. TURNED THE KEY AND DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VAN WOULD NOT START BUT MADE A TICKING NOISE UPON TURNING THE KEY. 2 DAYS LATER I STOPPED TO GET FUEL IN THE VAN. IT HESITATED TO START, BUT DID START. HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM AND FADED IN AND OUT. PUT A CODE READER ON THE COMPUTER AND IT THREW A LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE CODE. PUT A VOLTMETER ON THE BATTERY AND IT READ ABOUT 10 VOLTS WHILE THE VAN WAS NOT RUNNING. WHILE THE VAN WAS RUNNING THE VOLTMETER READ ABOUT 14 VOLTS SO IT IS CHARGING. HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE POWER WINDOWS WOULD NOT WORK OR POWER DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN AND HAD TO BE MANUALLY OPENED.

PUT 02 OXYGEN SENSOR BECAUSE IT WAS ALSO RUNNING REALLY BAD AT TIMES. A COUPLE DAYS LATER SAME CRAP. TOOK IT BACK AGAIN SAID IT NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP MODULE. NOW, MY VEHICLE IS AT A DEALERSHIP WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND FAULTY O2 SENSORS THAT TOTAL BETWEEN $6,000 AND $7,000 WORTH OF WORK. I'VE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINT ABOUT HAVING TO CHANGE THE BATTERY THEN THE ALTENATOR THEN THE TPIM. I DID ALL THAT AND MY VEHICLES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STILL IS GIVING ME PROBLEMS. THE DOORS WILL NOT SIDE OPEN THE AIR BLOWS HEAT AUTOMATICALLY WHEN NOT EVEN ON AND NOW WON'T EVEN START. PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM AND STILL NO RECALL. THERE HAS BEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAULTY TIPM'S AND EVEN A LAWSUIT. THE DEALERSHIP SAY'S THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT EACH PERSON I'VE SEEN COMPLAIN SHARES THE SAME PROBLEM. FIRST TOLD IT'S THE BATTERY THEN THE ALTENATOR THEN THE TPIM. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED. DODGE KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE SETTLED A LAWSUIT ABOUT THE CHEROKEE AND THE DURANGO. MY VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE TIPM MODULE IN IT. I FIRST HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY THEN THE ALTENATOR THEN THE KEY FOB AND FINALLY THE TIPM MODULE. LOOKING BACK THAT ALL OF THE FIRST REPAIRS TURNED OUT NOT TO BE THE PROBLEM. WE HAD ALWAYS NOTICED THAT AT TIMES THE WINDOWS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY ROLL DOWN AND THAT THE ELECTRIC DOORS WOULD SUDDENLY OPEN UP. WE NEVER QUITE KNEW WHAT IT WAS UNTIL NOW. WE REPLACED THE TIPM AND IT WORKED FINE. AFTER SPENDING 800 DOLLARS THAT I DIDN'T REAL NEED TO THE TIPM WAS ANOTHER 1000 DOLLARS. I'VE SEEN THE LAWSUIT THAT IS ON GOING RELATED TO THE VERY SAME PROBLEM I HAD IN THE GRAND CHEROKEES AND THE DODGE DURANGOS. MY VEHICLE IS LIST IN THE ADDENDUM TO THE LAWSUIT. There was no fuel entering the engine. The contact stated that the silicon on the relays needed to be replaced and the fuel pump had failed. Additionally, the driver's side window became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V813000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

While the Emergency Parking Brake was activated and vehicle in Park in the driveway that is on a hill, the car began rolling down the driveway at a fast rate of speed with no one in drivers seat. 3 young kids were in car seats in the van with it running while we were outside of the vehicle speaking. All doors locked and it flew down the driveway almost flipping over at the bottom. We took the vehicle to the dealership we purchased it from on June 29, 2023 and they could not recreate the issue. No warning lights were on prior to this incident and when citizens that stopped when this happened, got in the vehicle to dislodge it from the dirt that thankfully stopped it from flipping, they verified that it still showed the E Brake as being engaged it was still in park. No police or insurance was called because there was no damage to the vehicle or children but the dealership was called. I do have video of this event but your website does not accept videos

The TIPM failed which caused a loss of power to the vehicle and power to the fuel pump. I was driving at approximately 60 MPH when the vehicle lost all power and the steering wheel felt locked. I was unable to turn the steering wheel as the Dodge Grand Caravan came to a quick stop as if it was out of gas. Luckily I reacted quickly and was able to avoid an accident. After approximately 10 minutes of trying to restart the vehicle and drive to a safe location the vehicle restarted. This happened again when I was driving and came to a red light at a major intersection and the vehicle stalled out as if out of gas and the steering locked. I again tried to restart the vehicle intermittently for 15 minutes; after which it finally restarted, and I was able to drive and get out of the intersection without an accident. I was lucky that this didn't cause an accident. The other times the defective TIPM and power to the fuel pump caused the vehicle to fail to start and left me stranded. I have had the vehicle diagnosed and the TIPM repair price is quite expensive. The vehicle did not have any check engine or warning lights before this occurred. I have read many similar complaints of this occurring with others driving Dodge/Chrysler vehicles. I feel that there is evidence that the TIPM and the fuel pump on the 2011 Dodge Caravan are safety concerns. Every experienced mechanic I have spoken with is aware of the common issue with the TIPM, and power to the fuel pump and vehicle. Although I avoided an accident there is a concern for everyone's safety.

IT STARTED WITH MY VEHICLE NOT STARTING INTERMITTENTLY. AS THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE AT FIRST WE THOUGHT IT MAY BE THE FUEL PUMP. AFTER EXTENSIVE SEARCHING IT WAS REVEALED TO BE A FAULTY TIPM MODULE THAT CAUSES ISSUES WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I CONTACTED DODGE AND THEY VALIDATED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS LISTED FOR MOST VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME MODULE, HOWEVER NOT FOR THE DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY. THE ISSUE HAS NOW ESCALATED. WHILE DRIVING IN THE PITCH DARK TO WORK THE VEHICLE STARTED ACTING FUNNY, THEN ALL POWER SHUT OFF, STEERING LOCKED, FOB LOCKED IN IGNITION, NO LIGHTS, NO BLINKERS, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. I HAD JUST DROPPED OFF MY SON SO GLAD HE WASN'T WITH ME. IT SEEMS THE PROBLEM ALL GOES BACK TO THE TIPM WHICH HAS BEEN DRAINING MY BATTERY AND CAUSING OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES. ON TUESDAY JAN 15 2019 THE CAR STARTED DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE SAME DEALER THEY TOLD ME THE CAUSE IS THE TIPM WHICH WOULD COST ABOUT $2000. WHEN I STARTED MY RESEARCH I REALIZED THAT BOTH ISSUE ARE RELATED AND CAUSED BY THE TIPM. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH MANY MODELS OF FCA WHICH SOME VEHICLES HAD RECALLS FROM FCA. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCES STALLING DUE TO TIPM ISSUE ON CARAVAN. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND NHTSA AS WELL AS TRANSPORT CANADA HAS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DEATH OCCURS. ON FEB 14 I HAD MORE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THIS TIME WITH AN IGNITION COIL DEFAULT DUE TO THE TIPM. REPAIR COST $ 265.90. ON AUGUST 29 THE CAR STALLED AGAIN IN MOTION WHILE DRIVING ON THE SERVICE ROAD OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THEREFORE NO POWER BRAKES OR STEERING. INSTEAD, IT ALLOWED MY VEHICLE TO BE TOWED FROM ITS LOT BACK TO MY HOME ADDRESS, DESPITE KNOWING THAT IT FAILED TO ADDRESS THE RECALL. DODGE CUSTOMER CARE REPRESENTATIVES INFORMED ME OF THIS RECALL WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM AND STILL THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT EVEN MAKE MENTION OF THIS. THEY FAILED TO REPAIR THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS OR FATAL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AND DODGE FAILED TO ENSURE THAT THE VEHICLE RECALL WAS COMPLETED DURING ALL OF MY CONVERSATIONS WITH DODGE AND DODGE EXECUTIVE OFFICE PERSONNEL.

IN FACT, IN OCTOBER 2017, THE VEHICLE HAD THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS REPLACED: CALIPERS (BOTH FRONT AND BOTH REAR), ROTORS (BOTH FRONT AND BOTH REAR), BRAKE PADS (BOTH FRONT AND BOTH REAR) REPLACED BY PEP BOYS IN EASTGATE, OHIO. IT HAS ONLY BEEN JUST OVER 6 MONTHS AND BOTH FRONT SIDE BRAKE PADS HAVE TO BE REPLACED, YET AGAIN! THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINEERING OF THIS VEHICLE BRAKING SYSTEM AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED ON MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINT SITES AND FILED WITH DODGE/CHRSYLER AND THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLES. THE BRAKE PADS ARE WEARING PREMATURELY UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF WEATHER IS PRESENT. APPARENTLY THIS IS A WIDELY KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH DODGE AND RELATED CHRYSLER VEHICLES ACCORDING TO OUR MECHANIC. BASICALLY THE TIPM--TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE IS BAD AND THIS CAUSES AMONG OTHER SYMPTOMS: VEHICLE NOT STARTING, ISSUES WITH ELECTRIC CONTROLS(LIGHTING), ISSUES WITH FUEL SYSTEM(FUEL PUMP OR RELAY) OUR VEHICLE HAD ISSUES STARTING. ESPECIALLY DURING WINTERTIME THIS HAPPENED. AND HAVING REPLACED THE BATTERY NEW AND ALSO HAVING ENSURED SPARKPLUGS ARE NEW, THOSE ISSUES WERE RULED OUT. STARTER ISSUE ALSO WERE RULED OUT BOTH BY OBVSERVATION AND MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE DIFFICULTY AND INTERMITTENT SUCCESSES IN STARTING, UP TO THE POINT THAT IT DIDN'T START ANYMORE ON 12/10/2018. THE STARTER IS TURNING BUT ENGINE DOESN'T START. SO TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND LEARNED THAT THE TIPM IS THE ISSUE. PRIOR TO IT TOTALLY FAILING TO START., IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS, THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED 4 TO 5 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT ON THE THREAD GOING ABOUT 30 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR WITH TRAFFIC. I REALIZED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE BASICALLY THE CAR STOPS ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD--WITH TRAFFIC. WHEN THIS FAILURE HAPPENS, APPARENTLY NO FUEL GOES INTO THE ENGINE THAT THE VEHICLE COMES TO A HALT. THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AND RADIO OR OTHER--AS IF THE POWER WAS JUST TOTALLY DISCONNECTED. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OFF THE ROAD, USING ITS MOMENTUM. AND AFTER A COUPLE TIMES TURNING ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. AGAIN THE SUDDEN ENGINE STOPPAGE OCCURRED AROUND 5 TIMES AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES. UNTIL THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER START AT ALL FROM A PARKING LOT. THE REPAIRS COS $1300+ FOR THE TIPM WHICH HAD TO BE DEALER ORDERED AND REPROGRAMMED.

I BOUGHT MY 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN CREW IN FEB 2018. IN MARCH MY TIRE SENSORS STARTING GOING OFF, WE REPLACED ALL OF THEM WITH NO LUCK, THE GAUGES WOULD STILL READ THEY WERE OUT. IN APRIL, THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR WENT OUT WHILE WE WERE ON VACATION, AND WE REPLACED IT, IN FLORIDA. IN MAY THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR WENT OUT AGAIN, SHORTLY AFTER HAVING IT REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME, BUT GUESS WHAT? IT HAPPENED A 3RD TIME! ONLY A WEEK LATER!!!! SO YET AGAIN, IT WAS REPLACED. OUR VAN WOULD START ACTING POSSESSED. WIPERS WOULD GO OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD & WHILE THEY WERE IN THE OFF POSITION. THE LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES WHILE DRIVING, SEEMED LIKE EVERY TIME IT RAINED OUT WINDOWS WOULD ROLL DOWN BY THEMSELVES OVER NIGHT OR WHILE WE WERE IN A STORE WHILE THE VAN WAS SHUT OFF. IN JUNE THE VAN STARTED STALLING WHILE WE WOULD DRIVE IT. IT WOULD RANDOMLY DIE WHILE IDLING. IN JULY/AUG I HAD MY OIL CHANGED, THE FOLLOWING DAY MY VAN WOULDN'T START. WHILE IN THE MOMENT I THOUGHT THE SHOP HAD DONE SOMETHING TO IT, SINCE I HAD GOTTEN FRUSTRATED WITH THEM THERE, (POOR FELLAS) THAT CLEARLY WAS NOT THE CASE. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION MY FUEL PUMP HAD WENT OUT, SO I PAID TO HAVE THAT REPLACED. AROUND SEPT THE VAN WOULDN'T START. IT WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. MY FUEL PUMP WOULD TURN ON, AFTER TURNING THE KEY ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. IN OCT THE FUEL PUMP WOULD RUN WHILE THE VAN WAS OFF, WE HAD TO DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE ON THE BATTERY SO IT WOULDN'T BURN UP. AT THIS POINT, MY VAN WOULDN'T START AT ALL, AND THE VAN ACTED LIKE IT WAS DEAD. I WENT AND BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY, DAY AFTER I REPLACED THAT, MY VAN NEEDED TO BE JUMPED EACH TIME I WANTED TO START IT. MY VAN HAS HAD ELECTRICAL TYPE ISSUES SINCE WE PURCHASED IT, BUT IN THE LAST COUPLE YEARS THEY HAVE IMAGNIFIED. EVERY ISSUE STARTS WITH THE CAR SMOKING AND SOME SORT OF LIGHT COMING ON (ENGINE, BATTERY ETC..) MANY TIMES I TAKE IT IN AND THE DASH LIGHT IS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED OR THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND RESET THE ELECTRICAL PANEL. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY NUMEROUS TIMES, ALTERNATOR THREE TIMES (LAST TIME IT WAS COMPLETELY BURNT OUT AND THE TIME BEFORE IT WAS COMPLETELY MELTED). TRANSMISSION LINES AND COOLANT LINES. THE LAST TIME MY HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED THE WIRES WERE CHARRED AND FRAYED. LAST NIGHT MY SON WAS PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE BECAUSE THE OFFICER NOTICED THE CAR WAS SMOKING. HE POPPED THE HOOD TO LET THE SMOKE CLEAR (MY SON SAID THE SMOKE HAD A COPERY TASTE). AFTER IT CLEARED THE VAN STARTED AND DROVE FINE. THIS IS AFTER HAVING THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED (FOR THE THIRD TIME) JUST LAST WEEK. THE TECHNICIANS AT THE SHOP HAVE NEVER SEEN THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS BEFORE AND THE GUY AT INTERSTATE BATTERY SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN A CAR DEPLETE A BATTERY LIKE MINE DOES. WITH ALL THESE ISSUE BEING ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORDS MELTING, CHARRING, SMOKING, IT REALLY CONCERNS ME THAT ONE DAY MY VAN IS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE OR BLOW UP AND THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR ANY VEHICLE, BUT ESPECIALLY ONE THAT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF AND MAINTAINED. I PURCHASED MY 2011 GRAND CARAVAN IN JULY 2012 AN HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH IT EVER SINCE. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND/OR MY VEHICLE NOT STARTING. I HAVE SINCE TROUBLESHOT THIS DOWN TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY BEING FAULTY IN THE TIPM. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES OF UN-COMMANDED OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE REAR SLIDING DOORS WHILE PARKED. I ALSO GET AN RANDOM FLICKER OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH WITH AUDIO TONE. THESE ISSUES WERE DISCUSSED WITH A MECHANIC AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP WHEN HAVING A RECALL PERFORMED ON THE "MISFIRE" ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY MORE ISSUES. THAT HAS DEFINITELY NOT BEEN THE CASE. ONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ISSUES OCCURS ON A WEEKLY IF NOT DAILY BASIS. MANY SIMILAR TIPM FAILURES OF DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO NHTSA AND YOU HAVE RECENTLY REJECTED A CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY PETITION FOR NHTSA INTERVENTION REGARDING THIS DEFECT. CHRYSLER/DODGE IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM BECAUSE 80,894 JEEP WRANGLERS AND DODGE NITRO VEHICLES WERE RECALLED IN 2007 FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. IN THAT RECALL, DEFECTIVE TIPMS HAD A SOFTWARE PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL. NHTSA SHOULD REQUIRE DODGE TO RECALL EVERY MODEL THAT HAS THIS SAME TIPM INSTALLED AND TO IMMEDIATELY WARN THE PUBLIC THAT THEIR LIVES ARE IN DANGER EVERY TIME THEY DRIVE THEIR DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLE. IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE THAT THE MANUFACTURER AND NHTSA HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN INFORMED OF THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT AND FAILED TO PROTECT THE AMERICAN PUBLIC.

SEVERAL TIMES THIS WINTER MY WIFE HAS WENT TO START OUR VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE PROBLEM IS THAT AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING (20-30 MINS) THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE DRAGS CAUSING A VERY STRONG METALLIC SMELL TO ENTER THROUGH THE AIR VENTS INSIDE THE VAN. ON 7/03/2015 MY 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH 46000 MILES WAS HAVING STARTING, STALLING AND IDLE ISSUES. THROTTLE BODY WAS REPAIRED BY SHOP AND REFUNDED MONEY BECAUSE CAR STILL HAD SAME ISSUES. THE MECHANIC SAID TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS NOT KICKING OUT ANY CODES I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO WAIT FOR AN APPT UNTIL AUG 4TH. THE CAR WAS ACTING UP SO I WENT IN WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT ON 07/21/15 THEY SAID BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS SO INTERMITTENT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS. ON 07/22/15 THE DEALERSHIP CALLED AND SAID THEY FOUND TWO ISSUES WITH THE VAN 1ST IT NEEDED THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD REPLACED AND 2ND THE TIPM UNIT WAS BAD. THE GOOD NEWS WAS THE CYLINDER HEAD WHICH WOULD HAVE COST $2000 WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE BAD NEWS WAS THE TIPM ( TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) WAS GOING TO COST $1100 TO FIX. THE WHOLE POINT OF BUYING A NEWER CAR WAS TO NOT HAVE THESE HUGE REPAIR BILLS. BUT IN ONE SHOT THIS VAN JUST COST $3600 IN REPAIRS THAT IS JUST INSANE, WHO HAS THIS KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND. THE SECOND THIS TIPM UNIT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH A LOT OF OTHER CARS MANUFACTURED BY CHRYSLER ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I COULD NOT IMAGINE BEING STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH MY FIVE CHILDREN OR GOD FORBID STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD OCCASIONALLY SMELL SMOKE WHILE DRIVING THE FIRST FEW TIMES IT HAPPENED I PULLED OVER BUT NOTICED NO OBVIOUS SMOKE COMING FROM ANYWHERE, THIS WAS NEVER A CONSISTENT ONGOING PROBLEM MEANING I DON'T SMELL IT DAILY. SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AT MAYBE 40 MPH IF I GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE GAS TO SPEED UP A LITTLE IT WOULD SPEED UP MORE THAN I THOUGHT IT SHOULD. WHEN UNPLUGGING THE USB CORD INTO THE BOARD FOR MUSIC I CAN HEAR A LOUD NOISE THAT TYPICALLY IS ASSOCIATED WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. MOST RECENTLY MY A/C HAS BEGAN COMING ON AUTOMATICALLY, THIS BEGAN LAST WEEK AND HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES SO FAR. SINCE THE A/C ISSUE I GOT ONLINE TO GOGGLE AD SEARCH FOR POSSIBLE RECALLS. I PLACED A CALL WITH A LOCAL DODGE DEALER TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUES I'M HAVING AND ASK ABOUT A RECALL, I WAS TOLD SOMEONE WOULD RETURN MY CALL BUT HAS NOT. WHEN TRYING TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES SO MUCH IT FEELS LIKE I WON'T BE ABLE TO HOLD ONTO IT. MY SON REPLACED THE ROTOR AND PADS ON FRONT BRAKES AS THEY SEEMED WORN. THEN IN APRIL 2014 WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE BRAKES WERE GRINDING. THEY REPLACED ROTOR AND PADS AND THINGS SEEMED OK UNTIL MAY, WHEN BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING AND STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING AGAIN WHILE BRAKING.. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER ON MAY 21, AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK BRAKES, ROTATE TIRES, AND CHANGE OIL. THEY SAID BRAKES WERE IN THE "GREEN". STILL HAVING VIBRATION OF STEERING WHEEL WHILE BRAKING, SO I ASKED TO BRING IT IN FOR ANOTHER CHECK, AND NOW THEY SAY THE NEW ROTORS, (ABOUT 2 MONTHS OLD) SHOW SIGNS OF SIGNIFICANT WEAR. CONTINUED ISSUES REGARDING VEHICLE PERFORMANCE INCLUDING FRONT TIRES, TRANSMISSION, WINDOW SWITCH, SLIDING PASS. DOORS. FINANCED A 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN ON JAN 25 2013, VIN # [XXX]. UPON DELIVERY I HAD ISSUES WITH CAR AND RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP THE NEX DAY. ISSUES INCLUDED HARD SHIFTING, CAR VEERING OFF THE ROAD AND SOME NOISES AND NO MANUALS OR PAPERWORK FOR WARRANTY. NUMEROUS REPAIRS WERE MADE ON CAR THROUGHOUT PAST 6 MONTHS SOME OF WHICH MADE ON CAR, SOME OF WHICH CAUSED OTHER ISSUES TO COME UP WITH REPAIRS INCLUDING FAILURE TO PROPERLY REPAIR THE CAR, BRAKE ISSUES, ALIGNMENT AND STEERING WHEEL, FRONT TIRES, SLIDING DOOR SCRAPING, TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND MORE. NUMEROUS UNSUCCESSFUL REPAIRS AND OTHER PROBLEMS NOT ADDRESSED OR UNWILLING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE BRAKES FAILED AS HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. WHILE OPENING THE BACK DOOR OF THE MINIVAN, I NOTICED A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE AND SON BOTH NOTICED IT A FEW MINUTES PRIOR TO ME OPENING THE DOOR. ABOUT 15 SECONDS AFTER I HAD OPENED IT, I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE ENTIRE GAS STRUT EXPLODED AT THE BASE AND SENT BROKEN PIECES FLYING ABOUT 15 FT INTO THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS HOLDING THE DOOR AT THE TIME AND THE FULL WEIGHT OBVIOUSLY WAS THEN UPON ME. UPON RESEARCHING THIS A BIT I NOTICED THAT SEVERAL MAJOR CAR MANUFACTURERS HAD ISSUED RECALLS BUT APPARENTLY DODGE HAS NOT YET. WELL I'M REPORTING THAT OUR 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS THE SAME ISSUE AND HAS THE STABILUS GAS STRUTS. I HONESTLY HOPE NO ONE GETS INJURED AND THANKFUL THAT WE WERE LUCKY IN THIS INSTANCE. WHEN STARTING, THE ENGINE OCCASIONALLY MAKES A RATTLING NOISE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND AFTER STATING THAT NO CODES WERE CAPTURED, THEY CLEARED THE CODE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED THE CAM POSITION SENSOR, WHICH THEY SAID WOULD FIX IT. IT DIDN'T AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON WITH A RATTLING AT THE START WHICH NOW OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY. NOW THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AT THE START AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN DRIVING AT ROAD SPEEDS AND DRY CONDITIONS. THE VAN LOSES POWER AND IS SLOW TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER WHEN DRIVING, OR IF IT OCCURS AT STARTING, I HAVE TO SHUT THE VAN DOWN AND RESTART THE VAN AND THIS CORRECTS THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT TIME IT OCCURS, I WILL JUST DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER AND SHOW THEM BECAUSE THEY DON'T SEEM TO BELIEVE ME OR THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN EARLY DECEMBER. DEALER RESET THE ERROR CODE AND SAID IT WAS PROBABLY NOTHING. LIGHT CAME BACK ON A FEW DAYS LATER SO WE BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER - THE CONSULTED WITH CHRYSLER AND REPLACED THE CAM PHASERS AND SAID THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BOTH CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70MPH, GAS PEDAL TO THE GROUND DID NOTHING AND CAR COASTED TO 50MPH BEFORE IT WOULD LURCH FORWARD AND COAST BACK DOWN AND EVENTUALLY CORRECTED ITSELF BUT LIGHTS REMAINED ON. DEALER CONSULTED WITH CHRYSLER AGAIN AND THEY REPLACED THE CAM PHASER SENSORS AND SAID THAT SHOULD FIX IT. WITHIN A FEW DAYS SAME THING HAPPENED, DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TURNED ON AND CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND COASTED DOWN TO 50MPH AND WOULD LURCH FORWARD AND THEN COST DOWN - RPMS WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 1300RPM AND COULDN'T GET ACCELERATION BACK. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER (FORTUNATELY WAS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM THE DEALER) AND THEY HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS AND CHRYSLER RECOMMENDED REPLACING BOTH WIRING HARNESSES AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. WITHIN A WEEK, SAME PROBLEM, DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 70MPH - CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN SPEED, CAR COASTED DOWN TO 50MPH AND WOULD LURCH FORWARD AND COST BACK DOWN. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR THIRD ROW SEAT BELT SUDDENLY LOCKED WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. WHILE TRYING TO LOOSEN THE SEATBELT, IT ONLY CONTINUED TO TIGHTEN AROUND THE PASSENGER. THE SEAT BELT WAS EVENTUALLY CUT AND THE PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR BRUISES TO THE ABDOMEN AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE THEY REPLACED THE SEAT BELT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,200.
