CAR STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY WITH NO WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. INTERMITTENT OCCURRENCES. SOMETIMES INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, SOMETIMES NOT. CAN USUALLY GET CAR RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY BUT NOT ALWAYS. HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR AWHILE. NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL DO IT. HAS DONE IT AT ALL SPEEDS, WHILE PARKED AND WHILE IDLING. HAVE HAD BATTERY REPLACED AS WELL AS STARTER. SUSPECT WIN MODULE. SEE BELOW - APPROXIMATE DATE IS UNKNOWN. HAS BEEN DOING IT FOR SO LONG WE DON'T REMEMBER.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, unoccupied, and turned off at the residence, she noticed that sparks and flames were coming from the overhead console. The flames then spread to the front driver's and passenger's side seats. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. The fire department filed a report, which determined that the fire was caused by an electrical wiring failure. The vehicle remained at the residence. The insurance company was not made aware of the fire. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

Van shuts off completely when driving., all lights go off… rolling the car when possible I shift to neutral then I start the ignition and works fine. But lately is more often. My wife picks grand kids from school ., she is afraid an accident may happen. I see this problem on the internet specially at the caravan club. Why this problem is not tackled? Thanks. Also yesterday it shuts down at idle.

While driving on freeway or highway, electrical system fails, causing engine shutdown, and power steering and braking system fails to respond without excessive effort and delayed response. ALSO have had intermittent electrical failure while maneuvering vehicle at moderate to slow speeds or while steering around corners or turning into driveways. Touching or inadvertent bumping against ignition switch or rattling of keys on key ring can also cause electrical and dashboard electrical intermittent off/on/off in rapid succession. While driving in heavy traffic on freeway, almost wrecked car when electrical failure occurs during high speed travel and extreme effort to maneuver vehicle safely in heavy freeway traffic making effort to pull over safely a high-risk task. Tendency of driver to over-react or over-steer and under-steer and control car safely to side of road during heavy traffic, WITH NO FUNCTIONING SIGNAL LIGHTS, makes lane changing at high risk of major accident. According to similar reports found on Internet for same model year vehicle, others have reported similar cases of defective ignition switch in steering column, and is a safety hazard and should be recalled and replaced, and should include 2012 year models. While I was able to barely avoid an accident, only means that I was an exception to the rule.

Smoke comes out from the corner of the hood by the antenna and fumes come from the vents it makes my eyes burn and my throat sore. I'm afraid it might catch on fire. I have had the oil changed the power steering fluid changed I had the radiator changed. I don't know where it's coming from but I do know it is not safe.

Van stalls while driving it has happened serval times and getting worse. I have had it to mechanic they can not figure out what's wrong. Two of these incidents of this van stalling while driving almost caused me to get hit. Am scared now to even drive it I have my grandbabies with me quit a bit and refuse to take chances with them. Something needs to be done. Dodge needs to FIX this issue.

Engine stalls soon after I start driving. Lights are still on on the dashboard. I put the car in Park, turn the key to the off position, and turn the key to ignition. Engine starts without issue. This problem happens irregularly. Sometimes happens after a few months, sometimes after a few weeks.

Engine cooling system has failed multiple times causing the engine to overheat, it has been reproduced by an independent service provider and is available for inspection upon request. To attempt to remedy the issue, the following have been replaced or inspected: thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator, hoses, water pump, oil filter adaptor/coolant bypass, fan, wiring and other associated electrical components. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms of the problem prior to the system failure. Vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. I have attempted contacting Chrysler several times and have been given the run-around regarding a safety recall that matches the symptoms, year, make, and model of my vehicle and have been told that my vehicle's VIN is not part of the recall and that there is no way to get it evaluated and added to the recall. I am unable to upload the repair invoices I have amassed so far with this issue at this time, but can furnish them at a later date if required.

While driving around 30mph, the van completely shut down. With nowhere to pull over on the right, and to avoid an accident, I turned left onto a side road. I quickly realized I had no power steering or brakes. I had 2 children in the vehicle and school had just let out. Luckily there was no accident. With no brakes, I just coasted until I came to a stop on the side of the road. I wasn’t able to move the shifter into park. After a few minutes, everything came back to life. I was able to shift to park, start it up and drive away. No warning lights came on. No check engine light. This situation could have become really bad, really quick.

ALL BRAKE CALIPERS ARE DEFECTIVE THE PISTON SEIZES UP CAUSING THE BRAKES TO WEAR THE PADS OFF IN A SHORT TIME , OVERHEATING AND SEIZING UP THE WHEEL. THE MOST RECENT REPAIR ONLY HAD ABOUT 20,000 MILES ON THE BRAKES I HAVE REPLACED EVERY CALIPER, ROTOR, AND PADS ON ALL FOUR WHEELS THE MOST RECENT ONE WAS JUST TWO MONTHS AGO, NOW I AM BACK TO THE FIRST WHEEL AGAIN. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WEAR BRAKES LIKE THIS SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS AT DIFFERENT GARAGES. THIS IS A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW AND SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD. THE ONGOING REPAIRS ARE COSTING ME APPROXIMATELY 500. PER WHEEL EVERY OTHER YEAR OR SO AND PRECLUDES ME FROM USING THE VEHICLE TO TOW, WHICH IS WHY I BOUGHT IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF BRAKE REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS GARAGED IN WINTER.

TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE CALIPERS WERE NOT RELEASING WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED FOUR TIMES, THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES, AND THE FRONT CALIPERS WERE REPLACED ONCE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

While driving engine was cutting out, stalling, hard to restart. Found the reason was thr TIPM. Found there was a safety recall R09 / NHTSA 15V-115 fuel pump Relay, however this was for other Fiat Chrysler models and not the Dodge Grand Caravan, please help me understand why? The TIPM within this caravan is the same TIPM installed is other Fiat Chrysler models and clearly the same danger concerns. I don't believe I need to tell the NHTSA how scary it was to be driving 65 on a freeway when this occurred putting my life and others around me in danger of possibly losing control of a vehicle. Then learn this same TIPM was part of a large recall, but only on some models and not all. Makes absolutely no sense. I would ask that this prior recall be extended to all models with this TIPM installed as I can only imagine how many others have experienced this; God forbid and accidents were caused. Thank you for your time.

The TIPM unit is causing issues for my wife and kids there is a recall on other models with the same part that is causing issues why wouldn’t it be a safety issue for this model as well if it can cause the same safety concern

I was driving and the vehicle stalled out. Could have been hit if someone was right behind me. At first the car would keep turning over trying to start and it would after awhile, then lead to going out to the car and the battery completely drained. I had to replace a whole battery and alternator and it is still draining the battery (fuel pump rely). I don't see why there hasn't been a recall to fix this with as many complaints as there are online.

WHEN TURNING THE KEY OVER TO START THE VEHICLE IT WILL KEEP TURNING OVER BUT NOT CRANK AND IT WILL NOT STOP TURNING OVER UNTIL YOU SWITCH THE KEY IN OFF POSITION. ALSO, AT TIMES THE VAN WILL STALL WHILE RUNING AND SHUT OFF. SO FAR IN PARKED POSITION BUT I AM AFRAID IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE FUEL PUMP WILL KEEP RUNING AFTER THE IGNITION HAS BEEN SHUT OFF AND THE KEY TAKEN OUT. THIS RUNS THE BATTERY DEAD AND WILL LEAVE YOU SITTING.

NOTICE A NOISE THAT WAS SORT OF LIKE A GRINDING/GROANING NOISE WHEN IDLING AND IT WOULD GET WORSE IF I TURNED ON THE AC. THE SOUND WAS ALSO PRESENT AT LOWER RPMS BUT WOULD DISAPPEAR AFTER THE VEHICLE GOT UP TO SPEED. TURNS OUT THE FLEX PLATE IS BROKEN. WE BOUGHT THIS VAN USED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT DIES SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD REGARDLESS OF ANY CERTAIN FACTORS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS ONE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL. I AM A MOTHER OF 3 AND CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY UPWARDS OF 10,000$ TO REPLACE AN IGNITION IF THIS IS THE ISSUE, I AM NOT IN ANY WAY A MECHANIC BUT I HAVE READ/HEARD THAT IS MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM. The TIPM has failed. It causes the fuel pump to randomly engage and drain the battery. It drained so low the key fob would not work and I needed a locksmith to get inside the vehicle to pop the hood. Our van has been at Lynwood Dodge since February 2022. it took over a month to diagnose and now they can not get the part. The estimate they have given me is around $2,300. That does not count two tows, a locksmith and replacing the fuel pump and a fuel related module around a month prior. The inspection was by the Dodge dealership. To my knowledge no manufacturer representative has checked this vehicle.

After many tries, the van wouldn't start. Finally started. Brought it to the mechanic. They said the pressure in the fuel pump would drop 15-20 psi and then raise back to spec. They replaced the fuel pump. Van still wouldn't start. Mechanic tested and found the fuel pump was not getting power from the TIPM control module, due to a faulty fuel pump relay. Mechanic said Dodge had issued an external fuel pump relay part due to the issue occurring in many vehicles, however a safety recall had not been issued. Mechanic installed the part and the van starts now. Seems like the fuel pump issue was known by Dodge and should be covered in a safety recall as the TIPM control module used is faulty. Instead of a safety recall, Dodge issued an external relay part to fix the faulty part, but then didn't cover the cost of it for its customers.

VEHICLE WOULD START AND RUN THEN COUPLE MINUTES LATER IT WOULD JUST CRANK AND CRANK WITH A NO START. THE AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT WILL, WITH A LONG CRANK, IT WILL START.. ONCE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, IT RUNS GOOD UNTIL YOU SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. THEN IT JUST CRANKS AND CRANKS. SOMETIME BATTERY WOULD DIE FROM ALL THE CRANKING.. LET IT SET THEN CRANK AND IT STARTS AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT WON'T START FOR A DAY OR TWO. ALL TIME IT IS PARKED.

I WAS DRIVING FINE WITH THE KIDS AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN I FEEL LIKE MY VAN WANTS TO SHUT DOWN ON ME WHILE DRIVING. WENT TO THE PARK ONE DAY AND WHEN CAME BACK WITH THE KIDS THE CAR WOULD NOT START... I FINALLY( AFTER SEVERAL TRIES) GET IT TO START AND GOT HOME SAFE, THANKFULLY. THE NEXT DAY I GO GROCERY SHOPPING AND CAME BACK, THE VAN WOULD NOT START! NOW, I'M FRUSTRATED WITH THE KIDS AND GROCERIES OUT IN THE HOT WEATHER. FINALLY GET IT TO START AND DROVE HOME HOPING TO GET THERE SAFE. FRUSTRATED THINKING CANNOT AFFORD A MECHANIC AT THIS TIME AS I RECENTLY REPLACED THE WATER PUMP AND THAT WASN'T CHEAP. GOT HOME! AND THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT START CALLED ASSISTANCE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG AND EXPLAINED THAT IT WASN'T THE BATTERY NOR THE ALTERNATOR, THERE'S NO CODE AND THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY THE TIPM AND THAT WAS GOING TO BE ABOUT A $1,200 IF NOT MORE TO REPLACE. EXPLAINED THAT GRAND CHEROKEE AND OTHER DODGE CAR HAD RECALLED IT BUT NOT THE DODGE GRAN CARAVAN

BOTH REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. THEY ARE UNLOCKED (USING BOTH THE FOB AND THE INTERIOR MANUAL LOCK/UNLOCK). THE VAN IS ALWAYS IN AN OFF/NOT RUNNING OR PARKED STATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN DOORS. WHETHER USING THE FOB OR MANUAL DOOR HANDLE, THE DOORS MAKE A CLICKING SOUND AND ATTEMPT TO OPEN (JERKS AND MOVES A NEGLIGIBLE AMOUNT) BUT DOES NOT OPEN. THE DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY. I CARRY 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND ONLY 1 HAS THE ABILITY TO RELEASE HIMSELF FROM HIS CAR SEAT AND FIND A FRONT DOOR TO EXIT OUT OF. DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR QUIT WORKING AND CANNOT BE MANUALLY OVERRIDDEN. WE CANNOT OPEN IT AT ALL. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF WE ARE IN A WRECK AND THE PERSON IN THE BACK SEAT CANNOT EXIT THE VEHICLE. The driver's seat active headrest spontaneously deployed while my wife was operating the van. Luckily this did not cause an accident, but being hit in the back of the head by the headrest certainly can cause an accident in the future. Inspection shows the internal plastic latch mechanism broken, thus the spontaneous, unintentional deployment of the active headrest.

Greenway CDJR in Florence Alabama did the T33 airbag recall on my Grand Caravan. I recently found out while investigating another issue that they had taken a shortcut and the work wasn't properly or thoroughly done. The recall was to correct an issue with exposed wiring and the remedy was to install a protective sleeve. Rather than remove the retaining clip to install the whole length of sleeve they cut the sleeve to fit up to the clip leaving wiring unprotected. Greenway is under new ownership as Singing River CDJR. I contacted the general manager and sent pics and informed him I couldn't put the air bag assembly back in until the work was done. On October 31st this year he said he would have an advisor contact me to schedule an appointment. I haven't been scheduled nor heard back. I fear this has happened to more vehicles than just my own. In addition to not having a driver side airbag now I also don't have a horn as it is part of the assembly. The sleeve is supposed to be 6mm. It was cut short.

While driving, the vehicle will periodically shut down/lose all power. This appears to occur when a slight bump in the road occurs. The loss of power to the vehicle is obviously a significant safety issue. We have been able to restart it when switching to neutral and turning the key; however, this obviously isn't a safe solution while traveling down the highway with no power to the vehicle. This has occurred multiple times at varying speeds (30-70 mph) over the last few years - I am reporting it now as I was assuming/anticipating there would be a recall on this safety issue.

The car SHUTS OFF while DRIVING NO MATTER THE SPEED!!! The vehicle also pops out of gear when it shuts off. You have to use the emergency release button to change the gear to put it in park to try to start it again, which usually takes a little while to get it started. The safety hazard could be FATAL to the driver and whomever may rear-end the vehicle due it shutting off and loosing power steering and the brakes. This vehicle is currently at the dealership for the second time. They say that they cannot find the problem. I looked online for fixes and found HUNDREDS of complaints of the same issue for this same vehicle with no fix due to everyone being told they cannot find the problem. This could be FATAL!

It refuses to start. Light comes on the dash for the throttle body and when fuses were tested it was found that the TIPMs power cuts out. Which led to a research and found online that a recall on that exact issue/part was for certain 2011-2012 models. I called my local dodge dealership and was told that my van didn't fall under that recall because it was VIN specific. If my 2012 Dodge grand caravan is having those issues, why is it not under the recall. This car is my main transportation for myself and my family. I have 5 school aged kids that rely on this vehicle for transportation everyday. I NEED this to be taken care of as soon as possible, please.

MY VAN IS A HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE VAN FOR MY DAUGHTER AND THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME FROM CELEBRATING HER BIRTHDAY AND HAD HER, MY 82 YEAR OLD GRANNY, MY WIFE AND MYSELF. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS IS DANGEROUS. The TIPM has a built in fuel relay switch which fails sometimes won't allow vehicle to start other times it and stall while driving twice in one trip my vehicle stalled on the highway loss of all power and engine completely shuts off with no power steering or brake assist very scary and wreckless was very fortunate to have avoid multiple accidents the is already a recall associated with this issue on the Dodge Durango and Jeep Cherokee but for some reason the Doge Grand Caravan was left off and it posses a huge safety risk for the people and families that are driving them!

OVER THE LAST 6 WEEKS, ON OCCASION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE- IT WILL CRANK WITHOUT TURNING OVER AND RUNNING. THIS REQUIRES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RUN. IT HAS BECOME A MORE FREQUENT EVENT TO INCLUDE BRIEFLY RUNNING THEN SHUTTING DOWN. WTHIN THE LAST WEEK, THE BATTERY HAS DRAINED WITHOUT CASUE- REQUIREING CHARGING. AS OF TODAY, THE FAILURE TO START ISSUE PERSISTS REQUIREING MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. THIS HAPPENS ON A COLD START AS WELL AS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING/IS WARMED UP. DDIAGNOSTICS LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IN THE TIPM. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE FOR THIS ENGINE/TIPM HOWEVER THE CARAVAN HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AS THE DRUANGO AND JEEP VEHICLES HAVE BEEN. THE FAILURE OF THIS TIPM HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED TO INCLUDE SUDDEN ENGINE SHUTDOWN WHILE IN OPERATION REPRESENTING A SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO THE PUBLIC. BASED ON REVIEWS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, AN ORDINARY REASONABLE PRUDENT PERSON WOULD BELIEVE THAT THIS TIPM FAILURE IS A IMINENT THREAT TO SAFETY. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO EXPAND THE RECALL AND REPAIR TO ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE SUSPECT TIPM. CURRENTLY, A NON RECALLED VEHICLE WOULD HAVE THE TIPM MODULE REPLCED AT A SIGNIFICANT COST TO THE OWNER OR, A NON DEALERSHIP INSTALLED "RECALL" REPAIR (NEW RELAY) INSTALLED THAT WOULD NEGATE ANY FURTHER/FUTURE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTERS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THE OPTION OF PAYING FOR THE "RECALL" REPAIR WHEN SERVICING A VEHICLE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. Passenger side active head rest deployed while the car was parked without a rear end collision. No SRS light or anything. Unable to reset the headrest and no active recalls for the car even though there is an active lawsuit out of Florida about the same issue. See https://www.classaction.org/news/class-action-hundreds-of-thousands-of-dodge-jeep-chrysler-vehicles-equipped-with-defective-active-head-restraints#embedded-document We will be contacting the dealer in the morning to see if we can get the headrest replaced free of charge but unless there is a investigation and force recall by you i am afraid the dealer will not provide us with a fix without charging us an arm and a leg. I am afraid to drive the car now under the suspicion that the driver side headrest may blow at any point leaving me with either a crash or injury to my head.

Rear door won't engage or open seems to be electrical, then once figured out. The vehicle wldnt run, had a new battery put in, then it acted like the fuel pump, but the fuel pump kicks in the alternator was replaced as the fuel pump a year ago. Then we bypassed the regulator and now thr is nothing in the entire van works intact when u try put the charger on it, which the battery indicator says fully charged the whole fuel box vibrates and shakes. But thr is absolutely no power inside the vehicle thr is definitely without a doughty something wrong with the vehicles entire fusebox. This is very odd and not normal The entire brain of this vehicle is a problem. I have had a problem with this lemon since I bought it I have had it sitting more then driving spent more money on it then I. Able to use it something is definitely wrong with this vehicle.

I was driving on a side street fortunately instead of the interstate each of the times that the car died! All of the dash lights came on and it just stopped running. I called for service and the tow driver checked the battery and it was fine, but but would not start or jump. Had it towed to the mechanic. A new battery was put on and it ran for a couple of days then died again. It would not jump so towed back to mechanic. Mechanic said they charged the battery, got it started said they ran diagnostics finding no issues. the next day it died again and would not jump. It is back at the mechanic's with them trying to figure this out. In my own research, I found this site and the repeated problems just like this. If I had been on the interstate, any kind of busy traffic it could have been tragic! I don't know why this persistent Dodge problem has not been recalled and fixed! I'm concerned that when we get the part replaced it will have the same problem. I don't want anyone to have a dangerous car. I'm stuck with this vehicle that is not safe even when fixed or don't fix it and trash it. Either way I have to buy another car. The sad thing is that until this repeated problem, I loved the car.

My Dodge Grand caravan is having ignition issues and will randomly die while driving or just sitting. It has happened on the highway going 70mph. It is very dangerous as I lose all power until I would flip the ignition off and then back on. I have looked and found the recall on other vans but it is not listed under my VIN. What do I do to get this fixed before I am in am accident.

2012 caravan staling/dyng while driving, at take off from stops n issues starting with it just dying time after time over n over. Getting codes for low input power for the system n tcm plus misfire codes n O2 sensor code. Had new battery n both battery n alternator check out perfect. All new fuses n relays n CB1. Changed Oil, filter n housing n spark plugs twice, all new O2 sensors n new ignition coils. New starter. Got new key fob n ignition key as well. Still same issues with no starts, difficult starts, stalling n dying while driving months later

While driving 55 MPH on the highway all the lights on the dashboard began flashing and the vehicle lost ALL power - No power steering, no brakes, no engine, nothing. Luckily I was going uphill in the mountains without any traffic and was able to eventually stop. Had there been a vehicle behind me, the results could have been fatal. The vehicle was towed to a nearby trusted shop. They are saying it needs a whole new engine. The problem is, even with a replacement engine, this could happen again with a new/rebuilt Chrysler/Dodge engine. Keep reading please. In researching, I found that this is a known issue with this and other Chrysler/Dodge models. There was a previous Class Action Suit in California settled regarding this issue that required all plaintiffs to file before December 2018. Sadly, I did not purchase the vehicle until 2019 and this issue did not occur until 2021. I'm hoping there is some way to make Chrysler/Dodge accept responsibility for this through a recall or another class action suit as I have read many complaints online regarding this issue. How many people have to die before somebody does something about this?

TOOK MY 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN TO THE TEMPE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALLS FIXED. SOON AFTER THEY DID THE RECALLS MY CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE OFF THE LOT THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD AND IT WOULD COST $806 TO FIX IT. SO I TOLD THEM LETS DO IT. I GET A CALL AN THE SAID ITS THE TIPM ! $1400 DOLLARS LATER MY CAR IS STILL RUNNING PRETTY ROUGH AND NOT GETTING POWER AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. SO I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY TOW IT IN TO TELL ME IT IS MY FUEL PUMP. SO $800 THEY SAID ITS FIXED AND I SHOULD HAVE NOTHING GOING WRONG. 3 DAYS LATER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND A CODE P0456 EVAC LEAK! SO I CALL THE DEALER AND LET THEM KNOW . I THEN PURCHASED A GAS CAP JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. LIGHT STAYED ON. SO I GET THE VAN TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD MY VAN ALLDAY TO SAY ITS MY GAS CAP . LET ME REMIND YOU I JUST PURCHASED ONE. SO THEY GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO OFF AND NOW EVERYTIME I FILL THE TANK UP GAS FUMES ARE SOO STRONG IN THE VEHICLE AND IS RUNNING VERY POORLY. HONESTLY IM SCARED TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT . I JUST WANT MY VAN SAFE I HAVE KIDS . ITS MY ONLY VEHICLE.

The vehicle engine has stopped running while driving at highway speeds (50-70 mph). I have been able to roll off of the travel portion of the highway, but there was concern with vehicles behind me possibly hitting me. All electrical components continued to operate when this happens, including the radio, lights and AC/Heat blowers. It has happened in December 2020, May 2021 (2 times within about 1 hour), July 2021 (2 times within 2 days), December 2021, and April 2022. In all instances the vehicle has restarted in about 30 minutes. An independent repair shop investigated the issue in July 2021 and was not able to find any codes or to reproduce the engine stopping. Several years prior to these instances the vehicle began to "not start" immediately when the key-fob was turned; it starts after tuning the key on and off several times. The vehicle was inspected by a Chrysler dealer and the dealer could find no codes or reproduce the instance.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE PULLING INTO A HANDICAP PARKING SPACE. THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE IN LARGE QUANTITIES AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE INTO THE PARKING SPACE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FUEL ODOR ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY AFTER THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY AND WAS ILL DUE TO THE STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A VEHICLE MODIFICATION COMPANY MODIFIED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A MOBILITY CENTER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SHOWED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT 67,000. I CHECKED THE CODE TO FND OUT P0303 IS A ENGINE MISFIRE. COULD BE IGNITION, PLUG, OR VALVE-CYLINDER COMPRESSION. I HAD THE ENGINE SERVICED AND THE LIGHT GOES OUT. THE NEXT DAY THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. I RETURN THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE TO INVESTIGATE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALS THERE IS A BAD COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER 03. I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO DODGE AND THEY COULD HAVE TOLD ME UP FRONT THAT THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER. THEY TAKE MY CAR INTO SERVICE AND FIND A LEAK ON CYLINDER 04 ALSO. THEY GONG TO REPLACE THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD BUT NOT THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD WITH THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. I AM LOOKING AT $3500.00 IF I CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD. THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD COVER THE DEFECT NO MATTER WHICH CYLINDER HEAD IS DEFECTED. MY WIFE LOVES THE CAR. SHE WANTS ANOTHER ONE. I TOLD HER THAT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE WE WOULD BE RIGHT BACK HERE IN 4 YEARS WITH ANOTHER 3.6L V6 PENTASTAR ENGINE. I AM TORN. DO I TRADE THE ISSUE BACK TO DODGE AND GET A 4.0L V6 PENTSTAR. I HAVE ALMOST PAID IT OFF. THIS SUX GREAT TIMES FLUSHED DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE OF A ENGINE DEFECT. I LOVE IT BUT I HAVE LEAVE IT. AFTER HAVING TROUBLE USING THE KEY TO START THE VEHICLE FOR A COUPLE DAYS MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. DEFINITELY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF AS IF I TURNED IT OFF WITH THE KEY.[NO DASH LIGHTS OR RADIO] I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND RESTART THE CAR AND PROCEED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THE DEALER COULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE NOTHING WAS STORED IN THE COMPUTER ABOUT THE INCIDENT. REALLY? THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING AND TAPPED THE KEY AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN AGAIN. SAME IGNITION SWITCH RECALLED BE GM? SOMEBODY BETTER FIGURE THIS OUT. THE DEALER DID NOT AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH MY BELIEF THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS THE CULPRIT. I AM AFRAID OF MY WIFE DRIVING THIS CAR. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN TO AN UNEXPERIENCED DRIVER NOT REALIZING THAT STEERING WILL BE DIFFICULT AND ONLY A COUPLE MORE PUMPS LEFT FOR THE POWER BRAKES, IT WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC. AGAIN, SOMEBODY HAS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM AND FIX IT BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED.

IN REGARDS TO COOPER TIRES THE MANUFACTURER INFO AND DOT NUMBER TO FOLLOW. I HAVE HAD TWO TIRES WITH FAILURE TO THE RADIAL BELT SHIFT. ONE TIRE BLEW OUT ON A TRIP TO TEXAS, I DO NOT HAVE IT, BUT THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID IT HAD A "BULGE" AND FAILED. UNDER STRESSFUL CONDITIONS ON A HIGHWAY I DID NOT TAKE A PICTURE. THE SECOND TIRE FAILED LOCALLY AND I HAVE KEPT THE TIRE AND CAN SEND A PIC AND ALSO HAVE A STATEMENT ON THE RECEIPT FROM WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THAT HAD PUT THE TIRES ON SAYING IT WAS A "BELT SHIFT" THERE IS A PROMINENT "BULGE" IN THE TIRE. I WAS ON HWY 10 IN EAST TEXAS NEAR CANTON AND IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE THERE WAS NO WHERE TO PULL OVER SO I CONTINUED DRIVING SLOWLY WHICH WAS VERY STRESSFUL. THE TIRE DID BLOW BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF AT A REST AREA (THANK YOU JESUS). I CALLED AAA AND THEY SENT A FAMILY OWNED TOW TRUCK SERVICE OUT. THE MAN SAID I HAD A BULGE IN THE WHAT REMAINED AND TOWED MY VAN TO A WALMART 13 MILES AWAY IN CANTON, I OWED HIM AT THAT POINT $27 OUT OF POCKET FOR THE TOW. HE THEN DROVE ME TO A PET FRIENDLY BEST WESTERN BECAUSE I HAD MY DOG WITH ME. I SPENT APPOX. $120 FOR THE ROOM, PLUS MEAL OF APPROX. $21. THE NEXT DAY I GOT A RIDE FROM AN EMPLOYEE AT THE HOTEL TO WALMART, PAID $128.66 FOR A NEW TIRE, THEN LATER THAT WEEK BALANCING OF $40 AT DISCOUNT TIRE IN DALLAS, TX. BECAUSE WALMART COULD NOT BALANCE THE NEW TIRE DUE TO EQUIPMENT BEING BROKEN. I HAD ANOTHER TIRE GO BAD, WITH TREAD SHIFT A YEAR LATER IN ANOTHER CLAIM FILED WITH YOU. WE WENT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL GOODYEAR DEALER CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM AND WERE TOLD THAT THE TIRES WERE SUFFERING FROM PREMATURE WEAR AND SHOULD BE CHANGED.THE RECOMMENDATION FROM THEM WAS TO CHANGE THE TIRE AFTER 4 YEARS. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE THE TIRES WERE ALREADY 2 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME OF BEING PURCHASED AS PREMIUM NEW TIRES AT A TOTAL COST OF $667.45. SO AFTER JUST 2 YEARS OF USE WE ARE FACED WITH THE CRACKING AND PREMATURE WEAR OF THE RUBBER COMPOUND CAUSING THE TIRE TO BECOME UNRELIABLE AND SUBJECT TO A PREMATURE FAILURE. PURCHASED YOKOHAMA AVID ASCEND TIRE IN APRIL 2013 BASED ON 80000 MILE TREAD WARRANTY. I NOTICED WHAT LOOKED LIKE DRY ROT CRACKING AND TIRES VIBRATED AT HIGHWAY SPEED. BROUGHT TO TIRE DEALER. THEY REBALANCED TIRES AND SAID TO COME BACK IF CONDITION GOT WORSE. DROVE ABOUT 400 MILES TO BEACH AND BACK. ON WAY BACK HOME VIBRATION CAME BACK. CAR REFUSE TO STARTED NEXT MORNINGS FOR PASS TWO WEEKS EVERY MORNING SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START CAR AFTER PARKED OVERNIGHT NO START ONLY STALLING FIRST. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. THE ISSUE AT HAND IS THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS (25 MPH), MIDDLE SPEEDS (45 MPH) AND HIGH SPEEDS (65-70 MPH). ALL WARNING LIGHTS ARE DISABLED WHEN THE EVENTS OCCUR, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO WARN OTHER VEHICLES OF THE ISSUES AT HAND, INCREASING THE PROBABILITY OF A CRASH. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO CUTTER DODGE IN HONOLULU ONLY TO HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE BATTERY CABLES WERE LOOSE ($150 SERVICE FEE) AND THAT THE PRIMER THAT IS INCLUDED WITH NEW BATTERIES TO APPLY ON THE BATTERY POSTS WAS SOMETHING THAT THEY'D NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. I CURRENTLY HAVE MY VEHICLE AT A REPAIR SHOP WITH A BATTERY THAT WON'T HOLD A CHARGE BECAUSE THE INTERGRATED POWER MODULE IS MALFUNCTIONING. AS SEEN IS PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS, THIS ISSUE IS ONGOING WITH 2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS. THIS ISSUE PRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. I WILL REPEAT THAT THE DRIVER HAS NO WARNING THAT THIS ISSUE WILL OCCUR AND IT PUTS LIVES IN DANGER. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 110,000 MILES AND IT BEGAN BEFORE REACHING 100,000 MILES. FUEL RELAY SWITCH CONTINUOUSLY RUNS AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY AND PREVENTS IT FROM STARTING. THE VEHICLE THEN NEEDS TO BE JUMP STARTED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND ONCE THE ORIGINAL VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND PUT INTO DRIVE TO BE MOVED IT SHUTS ITSELF OFF BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS NOT FULLY CHARGED.

THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) ON MY DODGE CARAVAN VEHICLE CONTAINS AN INTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY THAT OPERATES INTERMITTENTLY AND FAILS WITHOUT WARNING CAUSED AND STILL CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH. WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 3.6L DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH A 160 AMP ALTERNATOR THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, WITHIN 5 MILES THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. FURTHER ALL OF THE SYSTEM LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE RADIO AND HVAC SYSTEM STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE CAUSE OF THESE SYSTEM CONDITIONS WAS THE DENSO TN421000-0770 ALTERNATOR FAILING. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE SAME ALTERNATOR THAT IS USED ON VEHICLES THAT ARE INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL NO. : 14V-634. CHRYSLER CLAIMS THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILS ONLY ON CARS THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH EHPS. I BELIEVE THAT MY ALTERNATOR FAILED IN A SIMILAR FASHION TO THIS RECALL. THE DODGE AND CHRYSLER MINIVANS THAT ARE EQUIPPED WITH A 3.6L ENGINE AND THE DENSO 160 AMP ALTERNATOR SHOULD BE RECALLED. REAR EVAPORATOR LEAKING FIRST REPORTED SOME ISSUE WITH AC @ 1285 MILES WHEN I HAD NO AC IN 2012 AND AGAIN IN 2015 SO THEY RECHARGED THE SYSTEM AND IT LASTED UNTIL 2016. I guess started with noticing oil being used at a faster pace then normal then a decent tick began along with AbS light which prevented cruise control from working. At this point We seemed Professional advice from a licensed Mechanic who then preformed a small job of dropping transmission pan to clean metal shavings out! And replacing tires and brake pads assured us routers were fine. He was concerned with the fact that the abs light continued to be on so we the paid to get wiring for abs redone (not sure what was called). After this the cruise control worked abs went off but we noticed the brake pads went quick! Then the insane knock out of nowhere began loud metal on metal had harmonic balancer pulley replaced didn’t do it any good. The. Was told cracked fly wheel was most likely the problem I continued to drive for about a month when the brake fluid light came on. I added fluid but every 3-4 days it came on again and of course brake pads again but this time the extremely loud knock went away and all was left was a quiet tick. That lasted couple months the out of no where wiring started shorting in dash and radio display. This lead to battery issues then out of no where motor is stuck in first gear and will not shift up but will shift between drive neutral and reverse. Idles extremely rough when in drive lights do not dim I had alternator checked. Now my family of six is with out a vehicle thank you for hearing my concerns

VAN HAS FAILED TO TURN ON MULTIPLE TIMES, PARK TURN OFF VEHICLE AND IN AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES LATER IT WOULD NOT START. I REPLACED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY APPARENTLY AFTER GOING TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS THAT DIDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM WITH DIAGNOSTICS I FOUND OUT IT WAS NEITHER IT WAS A FAULTY TIPM. 6-8 MONTHS LATER STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR STALLING OUT AND HAVING AN ISSUE TURNING BACK ON. I HAVE STALLED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ON THE FREEWAY I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE AND THE RECALL IS NOT FOR MY YEAR OF VEHICLE. PARTS FOR THIS ARE EXPENSIVE ALONG WITH LABOR. DODGE NEEDS TO RECALL THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY CAR BEHIND ME WAS CLOSE AND MY VAN STALLED COULD OF GOT HURT OR KILLED AND SO COULD THE OTHER DRIVER. BRAKES NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AS WELL MORE THAN I'VE EVER HAD TO CHANGE THEM FOR ANY OTHER VEHICLE.

THEN THE FOLLOWING MONTHS WE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH THE MOTOR MOUNTS. ONCE AGAIN WE HAD TO REPLACE THEM AND THEN WE HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER AND WE HAD TO RE-LEARN SOME OF THE ALREADY INSTALLED PROGRAMS. I BELIEVE THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL PUMP RELAY. THE RELAYS CHATTER A LOT AND THE FUEL PUMP SOUNDS MUCH DIFFERENT NOW THAN IT DID WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. 2017 I purchased my car. I had several problems with the key lock and car starting. Immediately tried to return the car but dealer wouldn’t allow it. I have now found out there were 2 recalls in 2017 I was not aware of this until now. Even though dodge has stated to me they were fixed as a consumer if my car was presenting issues so early on after these recalls I should have had a grace period to give the vehicle back if other issues were presented. Currently car is smoking on the drivers side with a heavy burning smell. Car is over heating as well as the car would not stop while I was driving it on8/23/22 in a mall. Car was shutting off a lot. I was under warantiy and took it to AAmco and found out there were transmission issues. My warranty company at the time let my car sitting at AAmco despite the major issue and refused to fix it as well as let my warranty expire. Now I am scared to drive this car concerned the vehicle won’t stop.

My wife and I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, my wife drives the car on a daily basis school runs, etc with our 4 kids. While driving the kids to school and stopped at a red light the vehicle suddenly with no warning lost all power and shutdown. My wife said she was able to restart it again right away, then just before she got home the car suddenly and again no warning shut down everything no power whatsoever she was unable to remove the key from the ignition. After attaching a battery pack we were able to get it restarted and drive home Thankfully no one was behind her at the time as it would most definetly have resulted in a crash. Since then this has occured several more times sometimes it will be a day or couple days but it will always just die with no warning, My wife refuses to drive the car now as both she and I are afraid for the kids and her safety. I have checked and fixed various items including a new battery,alternator and ASD relay all of which did not fix the issue. I see dodge has issued recalls for the ignition switch on previous years. I believe Dodge needs to look at the 2012 and fix whatever this issue is as I have saw numerous people experiencing the same issue. I am a father supporting my wife and 4 kids and cannot afford a bottomless pit of maybe its this/that. Dodge needs to step up it could be the difference of saving someones life.

I WENT TO UNLOCK MY VEHICLE TO GET SOMETHING FROM INSIDE. I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTS WERE VERY DIM AND AFTER PLACING THE KEY FOB INTO THE IGNITION, THE FOB WAS LOCKED IN PLACE. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO RELEASE IT FROM THE IGNITION. I HAVE TRIED RESETTING THE BATTERY AMONG OTHER THINGS AND NOTHING HAS HELPED.

After talking to others and researching and reading reports this seems to be another ghost problem: Driving around town this issue doesn't usually occur but, on a long drive and coming to a stop or near stop such as a traffic light and/or in traffic my van starts to die. Depending on how long I am going to be stopped or slowed down to a crawl I either have to keep one foot on the brake while accelerating or switch to neutral. When switched to neutral I have to keep a foot on the accelerator while switching back into drive. Sometimes turning the ignition off and back on helps, usually not. The danger is the risk of being rear ended or stalling when pulling into traffic.

On my Grand Caravan the engine randomly dies when my headlights are on bright. I haven't been able to find the problem. I have read where others are having the same problem but not sure they have associated the problem to the high beam lights. Last year when the dealership supposedly did the T33 recall it stopped doing it for two months then started happening again. It only happens with my high beams. The dangers are that, unable to use my high beams, I may not see wildlife running out into the road on dark highways until it is too late. Also, if this happens in traffic, especially in turns or curves, there is temporary loss in propulsion, power steering, power brakes, etc. I believe this to be a widespread problem that most haven't associated with the headlights. When it happens all of the dash lights come on as if the ignition was just turned on. I guess one more danger is that a driver, unaware of what is happening, may try accelerating when the engine has died which could cause sudden acceleration when the engine power restores.

I bought the car 2 weeks ago with 105k miles on it. The car has died approximately 20 times in the last 2 weeks while I am driving it. It is so insanely dangerous, you will be going down a busy street and the car completely dies without warning. There is no dash lights on, no warning. The power steering goes. It's an accident waiting to happen, it’s unacceptable. After spending 2k at the mechanic and still the same problem. They have now told me I need the TIPM replaced at the dealership. Which also affects the lights, which are erratic, they come on or come off when they want, along with the horn. It’s also pushes the motors into limp mode so it runs really hard over 20 miles an hour even while idle. The car will also die while in idle/park or when you shift gears. The car is basically an all day event to start and if you get it to stay on, if you are able to get it, don’t touch the key or it will automatically the car off. The TIPM system will also stay on, even while car is off causing your battery to drain.

Sounds like a machine gun when trying to start. Have to turn key completely off to get the sound to stop. Not starting sometimes and cutting off when driving. Lost all power on a main highway including my brakes and power steering. Completely shut off. Also the back air AC doesn't work at times. Seems to not have enough power to roll down windows at times and you can only use one window at a time. Battery, alternator, and starter test fine. Replaced relays and still same problem. Throwing code for not reaching coolant temp. Replaced thermostat gasket still throwing code. No other codes or lights showing up. Heard of an ignition switch and power train recall but when I put my vin in it says there are none.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that he was a mechanic, calling on the behalf of the customer. The contact stated that the customer informed him that there were issues starting the vehicle in which on some occasions the vehicle would not start without warning. The contact diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump integrated into the TIPM and the contacts on the fuel pump are not making good contact. As a result, the fuel pump fails intermittently, and the engine could stall. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (electrical system) as the same TIPM system installed in the customer's vehicle however the vehicle information was not a part of this recall. The contact stated that he contacted the manufacturer and was advised that the vehicle was not in any recalls. The failure mileage was 107,920.

THE TIPM FAILED, THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED WITH A MECHANIC. IT IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAR'S FUEL PUMP KEEPS RUNNING EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MAY CAUSE A FIRE AND BURN MY HOUSE DOWN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS ARE RECALLED. I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON RECALL. DODGE HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL YET. I HAVE FOUND BLOG POSTS DATING BACK TO 2014 WITH CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND DODGE IS NOT ACCOMMODATING OWNERS WITH ANYTHING. COST OF TPIM MODULE IS $994. LABOR IS $360. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE MY FLEX PLATE REPLACED THE WEEK PRIOR BECAUSE IT CRACKED. MY MECHANIC SAID IT WAS DUE TO WEAK STEAL. SERVICE GUY AT DEALERSHIP, JASON SAID (ON 1/9/2020) SAID THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS PART TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THIS REPAIR COST ME $789.95. I HAVE INCLUDED PHOTOS OF THE FLEX PLATE. I FEEL LIKE DODGE IS SIMPLY NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE MODELS FAILURES BECAUSE THEY MASS PRODUCED IT AND IF THEY HAD TO ISSUE RECALLS FOR THE FLEX PLATE AND TPIM MODULE, IT WOULD COST THE COMPANY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS, IF NOT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED FUEL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.

DOCUMENTED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE 2013, THIS VAN HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FOLLOWING: SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT READ, GAUGES DO NOT READ, WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON, ALL WARNING LIGHTS READ, HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK, A/C DOES NOT WORK; THEN ALL TURN OFF RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY TURN BACK ON AND OFF AGAIN. IN MAY 2014, THE VAN HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES WHERE IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF LOW GEAR AND DRIVER HAD TO TWICE SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE TO SHIFT PROPERLY. 6 REPAIR ATTEMPTS WERE MADE ON THE VAN BEGINNING IN MAY 2013 AND ENDING IN JULY 2013 WITH NO SUCCESS ON REPAIRS. THE VAN WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO REPAIR WAS FREE OF CHARGE. REPLACEMENT OF THE TIPM WAS TWICE ATTEMPTED BUT FAILED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY 2012 TIPMS. THIS VAN IS USED BY RSVP, A FEDERALLY FUNDED NATIONWIDE NON-PROFIT, TO TRANSPORT SENIOR VOLUNTEERS TO THEIR WORK SITES. THIS VAN HAS THE POTENTIAL TO PUT PEOPLE INTO A DANGEROUS CRASH AND NEEDS CHRYSLER TO REPAIR THE TIPMS IMMEDIATELY. *TR

AROUND 37,000 MILES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASED, LIGHT WOULD GO OFF AND ON PERIODICALLY. AFTER A SEVERAL WEEKS LIGHT STAYED ON AND STARTED BLINKING, AT THIS TIME VAN WAS VIBRATING AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WOULD CUT OFF. DEALERSHIP ENDED UP REPLACING ENGINE HEAD UNDER WARRANTY. A FEW MONTHS LATER LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, VAN DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE, DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH VAN. AT TIMES VAN DOES NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE AS IT SHOULD. AFTER A DELAY, IT WILL ACCELERATE, BUT NOT LIKE IT SHOULD. AROUND 60,000 MILES, ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION LIGHT HAVE COME ON AND CRUISE CONTROL WILL NO LONGER WORK. BACK HATCH DOOR OF VAN LOCKED WHILE OPEN AND WOULD NOT SHUT. THE DOOR HAD TO BE TIED DOWN FROM THE INSIDE IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAYS HINGES HAVE BEEN BENT. WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, I TURNED OFF THE HIGH BEAMS BECAUSE OF AN APPROACHING CAR. THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH INSTANTLY FAILED; I WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE HIGH BEAMS AGAIN, MY DIRECTIONAL SIGNALS DID NOT WORK AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGAN TO WIPE INCESSANTLY. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT, BECAUSE I COULD NOT SIGNAL MY INTENTIONS TO OTHER DRIVERS, NOR COULD I USE THE HIGH BEAMS TO IMPROVE VISIBILITY. ENGINE RUNS VERY ROUGH, IDLES LOW ALMOST DIES AT INTERSECTIONS. DOES NOT HAVE POWER WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN, LOOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING AS WELL. THESE VANS HAVE SOMETHING MAJORLY WRONG WITH THE ENGINES AND TRANSMISSIONS. DODGE NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE AND RECALL/REPAIR THESE VANS. THEY ARE HAZARDOUS.
