The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that on several occasions while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle did not start as intended. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, and the vehicle vibrated abnormally and then stalled. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The contact stated that electrical tape was placed on the tip of the key fob to allow the extra space where the key fob and key fob ignition were not touching. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

While driving our key in the ignition will loosen to the left and completely shut off all electrical for the car. The first time this occurred we were driving 55mph on the highway and had to safely steer off of three lanes of traffic with our kids in the backseat, at the time we thought it was a fluke. Now this is happening more frequently. It is the exact same issue listed under recall L25 “the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.”

Ignition shuts off to accessory mode while driving at highway speeds causing an extreme safety hazard. Vehicle also is reluctant to start. Dealer has diagnosed a faulty Ignition module which is a known issue amongst Dodge grand caravans but the recall does extend beyond 2010 models.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, a lanyard and other objects struck the key and the ABS and check engine warning lights briefly illuminated and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled over, turn off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic twice; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the wireless ignition node module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.

2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. Driver active headrest deployed without warning while sitting in garage and unoccupied. The loud noise and force of the defect could easily harm a passenger or cause a wreck. There are thousands of complaints on-line or through class action suits. I contacted the Chrysler Care group by phone on 10/22/2025. Their rep acknowledged, after asking if anyone was hurt, that this is a "known problem and a safety issue". After dealer inspection, Chrysler would provide a replacement even though it was after the extended warranty. The dealer performed the inspection on 10/24/2025. I notified the care group at this time. Weeks later the company has reneged on this commitment, refused to provide a replacement, and closed the case.

Passenger front seat headrest deployed while vehicle was parked. The plastic housing supporting a small metal bar broke causing it to open. I had no idea this could happen when I bought the car. I have kept this van longer than any I have owned as my Chrysler dealer closed and the van is no longer made! A new one form Chrysler is about $6-800! I was able to find a lightly used replacement headrest on Ebay and using a youtube video swapped it out myself. I have since learned Chrysler extended the warrantee 10 years, but my car is older than that. It only has about 65,500 miles on it. I am going to try and zip-tie the driver's side headrest so I do not get it in the back of the head when driving!! I presume the passenger side will remain intact for a while.

On July 28, 2024 I was getting ready to go to work. I got into my driver seat and sat down and the headrest deployed. Hitting me quite hard in the back of the head there was no accident or bumping of the vehicle, which would cause this. I had to go to work, but had a headache the entire evening due to this and woke up the next day being today still with a headache from the injury caused by the van headrest exploding

Driving down the road and my van cuts off. After leaving about 15 minutes it starts back up. I can go around 500 miles between cut offs. Had to 2 different garages with no solution. Replaced fuel pump, did not help. This is very dangerous especially on major highways.

Driver's-side, rear-passenger sliding door in stuck in locked position. It is available for inspection. Without the use of this door passengers can be trapped in the van during an emergency. There are many others with this problem a simple search online can confirm it.(this page alone is evidence this is and has been a persistent issue: [XXX] ) No it has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Front seat passenger headrest has deployed. Vehicle was not in an accident. Don’t know when it happened. I noticed it when a friend was getting in the car. Who is responsible for this one? And I am afraid the driver headrest will deploy when I am driving.

On another occasion the failure reoccurred, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic again and the mechanic stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. Active front seat headrests deployed without an accident for the second time. Had them replaced and paid for myself the first time years ago. Was compensated by FCA as part of special coverage after the fact. When they deployed again I brought it in and had it diagnosed at Hopkins dodge, it was covered under the special policy. They ordered parts. It took forever for the parts to come off back order. They just arrived in August 2024, I verified with their parts department. I am now told that I am out of the special coverage window and they won’t cover unless I pay the dealership over $200 to diagnose the same problem again. It has not changed. They already said it was covered and now they are trying to back out because it took forever for them to supply the required parts. I need this repaired like they said they would two years ago when I got it first diagnosed and the parts ordered.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, another vehicle crashed into the rear driver’s side moving the vehicle approximately 5ft. The air bags failed to deploy. As a result, the contact and his son sustained soreness in the neck. Medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was damaged and towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.

On 12/10/22 the passenger side curtain and squib airbags deployed with no collision of any kind. I was picking up my disabled partner, who is under 5' and under 90 lb. I believe she would have been at significant risk of harm were she already in the van. On 12/12/22, I took the van to where we purchased it. The van is BraunAbility modified with an accessible ramp, the back seats removed, and it sits much lower to the ground than the unmodified van. First, I was told that they found evidence of a collision. I had long known of that damage: I had ran over a curb several years before, and, because of the modifications, the van tends to scrape on acute inclines, a problem they said at the time of purchase would sounds scary but was harmless. I was told that the tiny hole in the metal frame under the van "exposed the sensor" and that deployed the airbags. I knew this false, but since that indicates a defect, I wanted it explicitly on their report. Instead, a manager came out and said she had completely misunderstood what the BraunAbility rep had said. He calmed that riding up a curb was sufficient to deploy the curtain and thorax airbags, but conceded that they couldn't say when the rusted-over damage occurred. Still, I did not run over a curb: I was in the left lane of a two-lane, one-way road and the old damage was on the passenger's side. They suggested filing an insurance claim, but that would put others at risk if the defect isn't limited to our van. There were no warning lights, messages, discernible symptom before the failure. I'm uncertain how to proceed. Should I go to a Chrysler dealership?

THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED TO MY CAR. THE AHR HEADREST WENT OFF, AND I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, DODGE CHRYSLER IS NOT WANTING TO ISSUE A RECALL SINCE A PERSON IS NOT AT RISK FOR INJURY. HOWEVER, COST TO FIX THIS HEADREST RUNS IN THE $500-$900 CATEGORY. AND IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE. SO WHY ISN'T DODGE CHRYSLER ACKNOWLEDGING IT? THE 'ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT' (AHR) HEADRESTS FOUND IN CERTAIN CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND MANUFACTURED BY GRAMMER AG SUFFER FROM A DEFECT. THE 65-PAGE LAWSUIT OUT OF FLORIDA ALLEGES THAT ALTHOUGH FCA US AND GRAMMER AG'S ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT IS MEANT TO SPRING FORWARD IN THE EVENT OF A REAR-END COLLISION TO CATCH A VEHICLE OCCUPANT'S HEAD TO PREVENT WHIPLASH, THE FEATURE CAN 'DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING OR EXTERNAL FORCE FROM A COLLISION, AND FORCEFULLY STRIKE THE BACK' OF A DRIVER OR PASSENGER'S HEAD. DESCRIBING THE APPARENT DEFECT AS COMMON AND UNIFORM, THE CASE CLAIMS THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT TO THE BACK OF A VEHICLE OCCUPANT'S HEAD AND NECK CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND CREATES AN ADDITIONAL ACCIDENT RISK SHOULD THE DEFECT MANIFEST SUDDENLY WHILE A VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. ACCORDING TO THE LAWSUIT, THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT IS THE FAILURE OF A 'CHEAP PLASTIC COMPONENT' INSIDE THE DEFENDANTS' AHR. SPECIFICALLY, THE FEATURE CONTAINS A PLASTIC BRACKET THAT ACTS AS THE TRIGGERING MECHANISM AND HOLDS THE FEATURE'S SPRING-LOADED RELEASE IN PLACE UNTIL A SENSOR SIGNALS THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HIT IN ITS REAR, THE CASE EXPLAINS. AS A 'COST-SAVING MEASURE,' THE PLAINTIFFS SAY, CHRYSLER AND GRAMMER AG DESIGNED THE AHR BRACKET WITH 'AN INFERIOR AND INEXPENSIVE FORM OF PLASTIC' THAT CAN CRACK AND BREAK DOWN PREMATURELY DUE TO THE 75 POUNDS OF CONSTANT PRESSURE APPLIED BY THE AHR'S SPRINGS ONTO THE BRACKET.

DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PASSENGER AUTOMATIC DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE LOCKING MECHANISM SEEMS TO BE FROZEN AND I CANNOT OPEN IT USING THE KEY FOB, MANUALLY, OR WITH THE BUTTON IN THE DRIVER'S AREA. I CANNOT ACCESS MY CHILDREN FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR UNLESS I USE THE OTHER SIDE DOOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY IF WE WERE IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT ANY REAR PASSENGER COULD GET TRAPPED INSIDE. THIS IS APPARENTLY A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A SAFETY RECALL.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED AND IN THE LOCKED POSITION. I CANNOT UNLOCK THE DOOR IN ANYWAY POSSIBLE NOT THE REMOTE, OVER HEAD BUTTON, DRIVER'S DOOR BUTTON OR MANUALLY WITH MY FINGER. I HAVE FIVE CHILDREN AND I FEEL THIS IS A COMPLETE SAFETY HAZZARD I HAVE SEARCHED THE WEB FOR DIY INFO AND FOUND AT LEAST 60 OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the transmission would not go into gear and the engine would continue to rev. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. After replacing the transmission, the failure recurred approximately 60 thousand miles later. The transmission was replaced a second time and approximately 500 miles later the transmission seized in 1st gear. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced a third time. The vehicle was not yet repaired. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE THE RPM REVVED UP AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JT JEEP DODGE LOCATED AT 4838 SUNSET BLVD, LEXINGTON, SC 29072, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS METAL SHAVINGS FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.

HI, I WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND AT ABOUT 45 MPH THE RPM'S RAMPED UP TO 5+ AND VAN HAD NO ADDITIONAL POWER AND I COASTED OFF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS RECENTLY INFORMED I NEED TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT A COST OF $4,286.70 AND WAS REACHING OUT TO YOU FOR CONSIDERATION OF ANY WARRANTY EXTENSION AS I ONLY HAVE 110K MILES ON OUR FAMILY VAN. THIS ESTIMATE IS PROBABLY HIGHER THAN WHAT ONE OF YOUR DEALERSHIPS CAN OFFER. The engine stops at any time. It may restart quickly or it may take a couple of hours to start. i had my fuel pump relay replaced, but it continues to stop when ever it wants. the fuel pump stops and then i run out of gas. I have read online of a problem with the TIPM fuel relay going bad. there was a recall in the jeep grand Cherokee and other jeeps, for this same exact occurrence. so, why not for the dodge grand caravan van? i called dodge in LaPorte IN, with this problem and was told that if the TIPM is bad, i will have to pay for it being replaced. If this is a nationwide problem, it needs to be addressed, i was driving thru the city and country when it quits. very little control of brakes and steering. So what is the next step?

SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER, THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY, A TOTAL SHUT DOWN OCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR LOCAL ROADS. IT IS REALLY A SCARY SITUATION. WHEN I LOOKED INTO PRODUCT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE, NOTHING SHOWS UP, EXCEPT SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME MATTER. I FOUND OUT FROM THE WEB IT IS A FAILURE OF TOTALLY INTEGRATED FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE AND ALSO RELATED TO A FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE. SO FAR, NO RECALLS FROM CHRYSLER/DODGE MANUFACTURERS.NO GOVERNMENT ACTIONS EITHER.

A FEW WEEKS AGO MY 2013 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME STARTING UP. A FEW DAYS AFTER THIS HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED. THIS PAST WEEK THE SAME ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING. IT WOULD CRANK UP, BUT NOT TURN OVER. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE THE CAR ACTUALLY STARTED. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK WHEN IT FELT LIKE IT (WHEN THE CAR WAS ON) AND THE ALARM LIGHTS WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY (WHEN TRYING TO ARM THE CAR). YESTERDAY IT CRANKED UP AND IT TOOK 3 TIMES TO TURN OVER. WHEN I GOT OUT OF WORK IT WOULD CRANK, BUT DIDN'T TURN OVER AT ALL. I HAD TO GET A JUMP AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO AN AUTO SHOP. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT, CALLED, AND SAID I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY CONCLUDED IT WAS A BAD TIPM MODULE.

WITHIN 500 MILES OF OWNING THIS BRAND NEW, IT STARTED HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. LONG STORY SHORT, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. FAST FORWARD TO APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES IT'S HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS BUT WON'T START AT ALL NOW. CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED RECALL V62 FOR DURANGO'S AND CHEROKEE'S WITH THE SAME TIPM AND ENGINE AS A GRAND CARAVAN BUT DIDN'T INCLUDE IT IN THE RECALL. APPROXIMATE COST OF REPAIR IS $1350 AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS. LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE PART!!!

Driving down the road at aproximately 40 mph and van shuts down. I turned on the hazard lights, coasted to the side of the road, put the van in park, turned the key to the off position waited about 30 seconds then turned key to on and the van starts up and seems to run fine. This is the second time in two days this has happened. No warning, no check engine lights. Very dangerous when driving at any speed when suddenly your vehicle turns itself off. Will contact my mechanic today to see if he has info on this problem. While doing research I have found that this is a problem that has been reported for many years and has been investigated. Wondering why they have not issued a recall for this????

While driving on expressways vehicle will suddenly lose all power. making it difficult to get to vehicle off the road. this has occurred 5 times in the past year, most recently 09/192023, all times with adults and children in car. One of the incidents, I was unable to get off road as was in a construction zone with no shoulder, so had to sit in lane with oncoming traffic and was very fortunate not to have been rear ended and hit. This is a major safety issue. No warning lights, no symptoms prior to each occurrence, vehicle just dies. Once completely stopped, try to start vehicle and it just rumbles and then dies. Wait 30 minutes, then vehicle will start up and run normally until next incident. Have taken vehicle to 2 different mechanics with no solution and no diagnosis as there are no engine error codes reported.

The ignition switch is faulty same as the recall for previous years models. Starting the car happens sometimes doesn't will suddenly stall while driving. This has happened many times over the last six months.

While driving down the highway the engine shut off. The electrical continued but all power was lost. I had to pull off on the left side of the road to avoid being hit by vehicles who immediately began passing me on the right. After stopping and putting my emergency lights on the vehicle struggled to restart. after a minute it started up and I was able to continue down the road. No check engine light came on. The van simply just shut the engine off while driving.

I RECENTLY REPLACED BATTERY WHEREAS THE ISSUE IS THE EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY WITH THE VEHICLE NOT RECEIVING PROPER AMOUNT OF VOLTAGE WHICH CURRENTLY IS 1. YOUR OTHER VEHICLES SUCH AS JEEPS WERE RECALLED BUT NOT THE DODGE VANS ESPECIALLY THIS PARTICULAR YEAR WHICH IS 201 WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP FOR ME TO INCUR COST OF THE RELAY PACKAGE WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER SAFETY RECALL P54. PART #CBP4P541AN. UNFORTUNATELY, I CAN NOT WAIT DUE TO FAMILY NEEDS THE VAN DONE IMMEDIATELY BUT REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE NECESSARY. THE TIPM HAS GONE BAD IN THIS VAN. THE VAN WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING AND THE FUEL PUMP WILL STAY RUNNING IF YOU DON'T PULL THE FUSE. THIS IS A RECALL ON ONLY CERTAIN MODELS MADE BY DODGE BUT THEY ARE CLAIMING IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THIS VAN EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE SAME COMPONENTS. I NOW HAVE TO PUT OUT $1600 TO REPAIR SOMETHING CHRYSLER WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE WITHOUT THE REPAIR AND CHRYSLER SHOULD DO BETTER.

In August 2022, my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan began having a hard time starting; the engine would not turn over. It took 2-4 times of inserting the key fob and trying to start the van. I took it to O'Rielly's where they checked the battery. It was bad, so I had it replaced. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, my van began having the same issue. At lunch today, I tried to start the van. It turned over, but immediately died. I took out the key fob and attempted to start the van again. It turned over. Leaving work this afternoon, I had to try 2 times to get the engine to turn over, but it immediately died. The third time it would not turn over. The fourth time, it turned over, so I pressed the gas pedal to keep it from dieing. This evening after the van had cooled down I went out to see if it would start. I tried 6 times and the engine never would turn over. There have also been multiple occasions where the van will idle low while waiting at a stoplight or for a train. I researched recalls and found that there is a P54 recall for the fuel pump relay for 2013 Dodge Grand Caravans, however my VIN is not part of the recall.

MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCKED MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY FOB OR WITH THE UNLOCK BUTTON IN THE VAN. SO THIS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. IT'S STUCK SHUT. ALSO WHEN I PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON INSIDE THE VAN AND ON THE FOB IT MAKES A LOUD BUZZING NOISE. THIS HAPPENED LAST EVENING AFTER I HAD LOADED MY KIDS IN THE CAR TO GO HOME AND PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY 1 YEAR OLD OUT OF HER CAR SEAT FROM THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZZARD. WHAT IF THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. WE WOULD BE TRAPPED.

THE VEHICLE WILL STOP WHILE DRIVING. IT CUTS OFF AFTER STARTING AND SOMETIMES TAKES UP TO 10 MINUTES JUST TO START IT. THE BATTERY IS DYING DAILY AND HAS TO BE JUMPED OR DISCONNECTED JUST TO START IN THE MORNING. HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND ALL END UP HAVING TO BYPASS OR CHANGE THE TIPM FUSE BOX. IT WAS DEFECTIVE ON 2011 AND 2012 MODELS. THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS ON THE 2013 MODEL.

Brake lights turns off when parked and engine off. But even with the engine off and nobody in the car the brake lights turn on. A mechanic replaced brake light switch. Engine off and brake lights off. Later the brake lights turns on when engine off and nobody in the car. Replaced brake pedal assembly and still same problem. Is this a common problem with Dodge Grand Caravans? Mine is 2013 model.

The brake pedal when pressed does not reach the bottom, returns the foot. and does not stop I have to pump so that it brakes and does not turn on the brake light on the dashboard. It was checked by a private mechanic and he told me that it is very risky to drive the vehicle since in an emergency it will not stop. Even when I'm parking and I move the car it doesn't stop in a very short distance. It's like the brakes run out of air.

I HAD MY BRAKES CHANGED IN JANUARY WITH 49,000 MILES AND BY JUNE I HAD TO TAKE MY VAN BACK IN AND PADS WERE COMPLETELY GONE. SO IN 10,000 MILES I WENT THROUGH BRAKE PADS THAT SHOULD OF LASTED 50,000+ MILES. I HAD ALL ROTORS AND FRONT PADS CHANGED SINCE THE BACK WERE STILL GOOD FROM JANUARY AND ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS NOW AND MY BRAKES ARE SQUEALING ALMOST CONSTANTLY WHEN I AM BRAKING...NOT GRINDING YET BUT I AM SURE THATS COMING SOON!

THE DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IS MADE WITH BRAKES THAT ARE TOO SMALL FOR A LARGE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKES TO WEAR OUT MORE QUICKLY THAN THEY WOULD WEAR OUT IF THE VAN WAS EQUIPPED WITH PROPER SIZE BRAKES FOR ITS WEIGHT. THE DODGE MINI VAN USES BRAKES THAT CARS 1/2 THE WEIGHT OF THE VAN USE. I BELIEVE THIS IS DONE INTENTIONALLY BY THE MANUFACTURER SO THE BRAKES WEAR OUT QUICKLY AND NEED REPLACEMENT MORE OFTEN THAN THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED IF THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED PROPERLY.

RECALL P25 FOR REAR VENT WINDOW SWITCH HAS BEEN OUT FOR SIX MONTHS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THERE IS STILL NO REPLACEMENT PART. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER RECALL NUMBER FOR "MORE INFORMATION"...THEY HAD NONE. SIX MONTHS IS AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. WHY IS THERE NO REPLACEMENT PART? WHEN WILL THERE BE A REPLACEMENT PART? driving over 50 miles an hour on an expressway and vehicle randomly dies. after pulling off road, need to wait 20 minutes and vehicle will start as normal. Major safety concern as some areas do not have shoulders to get car off of road. filed a complaint, in October of 2023, took to authorized Dodge dealer as advised, paid over $800 out of pocket and car still looses all power at high speeds. dodge dealer performed full diagnostics, no codes stored or present in vehicle. Had new key made, software updates, etc, but still dies at high speeds. has occurred over 12 times in past 3 years.

While I was driving, the passenger seat headrest exploded forward. Chrysler calls this the "Front Seat Active Head Restraint." This is a safety mechanism supposed to be triggered in a crash, but the plastic holding back the force of the strong springs gave out and the plastic broke. This is a known issue that has caused others concussions, neck injuries, etc. As of yet the person who was sitting in the seat has not shown adverse symptoms, but his safety was put at risk. Chrysler is aware of this issue and had sent out a letter extending the warranty to 10 years, but this vehicle is just past the 10-year mark. No dealer, police, or insurance representatives have inspected this specific incident. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to failure.

ON 7/31/2016 MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY. I ENTERED THE VEHICLE, STARTED THE ENGINE AND THE DRIVER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED. ATTEMPTS TO RESET HEADREST PER THE OPERATORS MANUAL FAILED. ON 8/4/2016 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT RESET HEADREST AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED (COST APPROX $900). I CONTACTED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO HAS ASSIGNED AN INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE. CASE # 29846962 AS OF THIS DATE, 8/5, THE REPLACEMENT HEADREST IS ON ORDER AND I AM WAITING TO BE CONTACTED BY THE INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN IN EXCESS OF 500 MILES (NORTHERN VA TO TN) AND HAD BEEN PARKED AND SECURED IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR APPROX. 1 HOUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT, AND HAS NEVER BEEN, IN AN ACCIDENT.

2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SE vehicle shuts of with out any warning this has been an ongoing problem for over a year now and there are a lot of other dodge caravan owners who are also having the same issue Recently the vehicle shut of on Oct 21,2021 after making a right turn and again on Nov 17,2021 while traveling on a highway at highway speed without any warning the vehicle just shut off fortunately my wife was able to get the vehicle to the side of the road This is the first time this has happened while traveling on a highway and this is becoming extremely dangerous and it is time for Dodge to fix this problem they know about and have been sued in the past for the same issue I have had this vehicle into the dodge dealership and they claim they can not determine the problem although it is a continuing problem documented on several vehicle complaint websites I reported this before on another complaint 11322557 nhtsa investigation #DP140-04 Go to carproblemzoo.com and you will find complaints for this issue as well if you type the problem in a search engine you will see other websites reporting this issue as well I am very concerned about this happening and resulting in a serious accident

Placed vehicle in park and the transmission showed it was in reverse. Tried shifting to another gear and vehicle remained in reverse. Placed in park vehicle started revving up. Turned off vehicle. Vehicle started once after three hours and you could drive it, but as soon as you placed it in park the vehicle revved up to 1500 RPMS. Had to turn off and could never start vehicle again. Two weeks and certified dealers can't find problems. Escalated to FCA for assistance.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH HONDA OF THE AVENUES (11333 PHILIPS HWY, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32256, (904) 370-1300) AND WAS REFERRED TO JACKSONVILLE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM ARLINGTON (9600 ATLANTIC BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32225, (877) 677-5782). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A CODE RED INDICATED A FAILURE WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND THE FUEL PUMP. THE CONTACT CALLED GREENVILLE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE AT (903) 454-0283 (LOCATED AT 5401 INTERSTATE HWY 30, GREENVILLE, TX 75402) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM REGARDING THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE (WIM) PROBLEMS AS THE 2008 - 2012 OF SAME MODELS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THIS CAR WITH ALL FOUR OF OUR CHILDREN WHILE WE ARE HERE IN GERMANY (ACTIVE DUTY US AIR FORCE) 2017 AND THE ENGINE DIED WITH NO WARNING/INDICATORS. I WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE SO I THOUGH MAYBE SHE HIT THE IGNITION AND IT CUT OUT. AT THAT POINT WE SWAPPED VEHICLES AND I HAVE BEEN USING THIS CAR AS MY PRIMARY VEHICLE FOR DRIVING BACK AND FORTH TO WORK 2017 - 2021. I AM A AIRCRAFT MECHANIC WITH OVER 23 YEARS OF MAINTENANCE EXPERIENCE ON MULTIPLE DIFFERENT AIRFRAMES. I HAVE PERSONALLY WITNESSED THE ENGINE CUTTING OUT WHILE DRIVING NO LESS THAN 20 TIMES SINCE (4/25/2021). I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE VAN IN NEUTRAL AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE ENGINE (WHILE I AM DRIVING AND THIS HAPPENS). THIS HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS (RESIDENTIAL AREA WITH CHILDREN PLAYING IN STREETS, HIGH SPEEDS (WHILE ON THE AUTOBAHN), DURING TURNS (DRIVING ON HILLY CURVED ROADS LUCKILY I HAVEN'T EXITED THE ROADWAY YET!), BRAKING (AT STOP LIGHTS), WHILE PARALLEL PARKING; POWER BRAKES STOP OPERATING, POWER STEERING STOPS OPERATING, GAS PEDAL STOPS RESPONDING TO INPUT - ALL DUE TO THE ENGINE THAT STOPS OPERATING. WHAT I BELIEVE NOW DUE TO THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE GOING FROM ON POSITION TO ACCY A MALFUNCTION WITH IN THE WIM. IT'S LIKE SOMEONE JUST KILLED THE ENGINE, BUT ALL LIGHTS, RADIO, EVERYTHING ELSE ELECTRICAL STILL OPERATES PERFECTLY. MILEAGE 135,000 MILES THERE ARE NO INDICATORS THAT THE ENGINE HAS CEASED TO OPERATE EXCEPT THAT THE RPMS ARE AT 0 (EVEN AT IDLE RPMS SHOULD BE AROUND 1,000 RPMS). NO OTHER INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES. CONNECTED OBD2, NO CODES, I EVEN DRIVE WITH A BLUE DRIVER ATTACHED AND WHEN IT HAS HAPPENED THERE ARE NO CODES RECORDED. THESE CARS ARE HAZARDS ON THE ROADS AND IT IS SHAMEFUL DODGE WILL NOT ADMIT THEIR MISTAKE!

I CAN BE DRIVING AT 40- 50 MILES AN HOUR AND IT JUST SHUTS DOWN. THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND BRAKE LIGHT SOMETIMES COMES ON. I CAN'T STEER IT. ONCE I WAS IN A CURVE ON A NARROW ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD. AT TIMES WHEN I'M GOING ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR AND IT JUST STOPS ON ME. IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. SOMETIMES IT WILL START UP AND IMMEDIATELY DIE. AT OTHER TIMES IT WILL START AND RUN FINE.

OUR 2013 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WOULD START FINE AND IDLE FINE. ONCE ON THE ROAD DRIVING AROUND LOCALLY NOTHING MORE THAN 10 -15 MILES FROM THE HOUSE WITH AVERAGE SPEED OF 35-45 MPH THE ENGINE WOULD JUST DIE! NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SOUNDS IT WOULD JUST DIE. YOU WOULD HAVE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE ENGINE. YOU THEN WOULD CONTINUE ON WITH YOUR DRIVE AND AT THE NEXT STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT IT WOULD DO IT AGAIN, THE ENGINE WOULD JUST DIE. YOU WOULD HAVE TO REPEAT THE STEPS ALL OVER AGAIN AND RESTART THE ENGINE. ANOTHER TIME MY WIFE (LUCKILY NONE OF MY 3 CHILDREN IN THE VAN AT THE TIME) TOOK A LEFT HAND TURN AND MIDWAY THROUGH THE TURN THE ENGINE DIED AND LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE VAN! NO STEERING OR BRAKES! ALMOST SENT THE VAN OFF INTO THE DITCH AND ALMOST ROLLED OVER. NOW THE ENGINE WILL JUST DIE EVEN WHEN IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY. ONCE AGAIN NO WARNING. NO MIL IDENTIFICATION LIGHT COMES ON AND NO CODES THROWN. VAN HAS IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS HAD THE BATTERY, FUEL PUMP, INJECTORS AND COIL PACKS REPLACE. NONE OF WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. DODGE HAS NO RECALLS FOR THIS VIN IN REGARDS TO RANDOM ENGINE DYING EVEN THOUGH HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR CONCERNS OF THE SAME ISSUES. THIS VAN IS VERY UNSAFE AND DOES NOT BELONG ON THE ROADS LET ALONE HAVING A FAMILY OF 5 TRAVEL IN IT. WE FEEL DODGE IS LITERALLY DODGING THE ISSUE AND THIS IS UNSAFE CONSUMER PRACTICE.

FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS THE VAN JUST TURNS OFF WHILE WE ARE DRIVING IT. COMPLETELY TURNS OFF- WE COULD BE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET OR GOING 75 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. IT'S TERRIFYING. WE'VE TRIED TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND FIXED BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW UP IN THE CODES WHEN THE MECHANIC CHECKS IT. THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY HAZARD.

CAR STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE STOPS AND THERE IS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. POWER STEERING FAILS AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO MANOUVER VEHICLE. I CAN SUCCESSFULLY RESTART THE VEHICLE BY EITHER STOPPING THE CAR, SHIFTING INTO PARK, AND RESTARTING BY TURNING THE KEY, OR SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL WHILE THE CAR IS STILL IN MOTION, THEN TURNING THE KEY TO RESTART, AND THEN SHIFTING BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES ON THE FREEWAY GOING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS OVER THE PAST YEAR, AND DMORE THAN 50 TIMES ON SURFACE STREETS. OFTEN THIS HAPPENS WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD, BUT SOMETIMES THERE ISN'T AN OBVIOUS CAUSE. ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUMPY DIRT ROAD IT REPEATEDLY STALLED, BUT WHEN I HELD THE KEY IN PLACE, IT STOPPED STALLING. WE HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT IT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. WE REPLACED THE KEY THINKING THAT MIGHT HELP, AND IT SEEMED TO FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT NOW THE PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN EVER, STALLING AT LEAST SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. IN THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE CAR ALMOST ALWAYS WON'T START ON THE INITIAL KEY TURN. I HAVE TO HOLD IT IN START POSITION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS LONGER THAN NORMAL, AND I HAVE TO GIVE IT SOME GAS AND REV THE ENGINE FOR IT TO START. HAVING THE CAR STALL AT ANY POINT WHILE DRIVING IS FRIGHTENING, BUT WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT IS TERRIFYING AND HORRIBLY DANGEROUS FOR ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME.

The vehicle randomly and dangerously stalls while driving at various speeds and locations. The vehicle will not restart until battery is disconnected and then reconnected. It then starts right up and runs fine until the next episode of stalling. This has been addressed by NHTSA campaign # 19V813 recall for bad fuel pump relay but my VIN # has not been included in this recall even though the vehicle is in the same year as the other vans covered under the recall. This is a very dangerous condition that keeps happening even after leaving the van with the Chrysler dealer for a week to diagnose and they say they don't have a definitive fix for it but offered to replace the entire TIPM for $1700 without a guarantee that the problem will be permanently fixed! The faulty fuel pump relay is well known and has been addressed with an external fuel pump relay kit covered by this recall. Please help us get our vehicle covered under this recall as we are retirees on a fixed income and have already spent too much money (close to $1000) trying to fix this known problem. Already replaced the ignition module which was another known possible cause but the problem still remains.

When driving the vehicle at random times the vehicle will shut off without warning. This becomes very unsafe as you lose all power to everything. Steering, breaks, etc. Took the vehicle to a dealership to have this issue fixed. Parts and labor cost 1500 dollars and did not solve the problem.

THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY EXPERIENCES INTERRUPTION TO FUEL DELIVERY (?) ON THE STREET, HIGHWAY, AND FREEWAY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING. THE VAN WILL BE ACCELERATING SMOOTHLY AND THEN, SUDDENLY, LOSE POWER AND ACT LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL COMPLETELY. IT WILL COUGH AND LURCH AND THEN RESUME ACCELERATING. ON THREE OCCASIONS IT HAS STOPPED ACCELERATING ENTIRELY, FORCING MY SON AND I TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKES, AND WAIT UNTIL IT IS READY TO RESUME ACCELERATION. THE FUEL PUMP WAS TESTED AND IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL, AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED A YEAR AGO. ADDITIONALLY, DURING THE TIME PERIODS WHEN IT IS EXHIBITING THIS BEHAVIOR, IT ALSO FAILS TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE IGNITION WILL CRANK CONTINUOUSLY, THE BATTERY HAS POWER, BUT THE ENGINE WILL NOT ENGAGE. THIS HAS BEEN A TEMPORARY/INTERMITTENT ISSUE THAT WOULD 'VANISH' ON REPEATED ATTEMPTS. TODAY IT WILL NOT START AT ALL, LEAVING US STRANDED ONCE AGAIN. THE LAST TIME IT REFUSED TO START ENTIRELY WE WERE AT A REST AREA IN NORTHERN ARIZONA IN 124 DEGREE HEAT FOR HOURS. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND MECHANICS HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT IS KNOWN TO BE THE TIPM, WHICH IS FAULTY. IF THIS PART IS KNOWN TO BE FAULTY, WHY IS IT NOT RECALLED?

THE CAR ENGINE STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE ROAD. THEN IT WOULD START AFTER I CRANK THE KEY. I ALSO NOTED THAT SOME DAYS IT WOULD NOT START WHEN COLD. CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY SAID IF THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ONE THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET IT LOOKS LIKE MY CAR HAS A FUEL PUMP RELAY ISSUE/TIMP. WE DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR AS IT WAS VERY SCARY TO STOP WITHOUT WARNING IN THE ROAD OR HWY. THIS ISSUE HAPPENED BEFORE ABOUT 6 MONTH AGO AND THE DEALER CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION TORQUE. While driving my van it will randomly shut off, it starts back up right away after I get to a safe location to do so but this is very dangerous. I've taken it to shops and they cannot replicate it and there are no codes on the reader to indicate any issues.

this is the third time i am filing a complaint. My 2013 dodge grand caravan completely dies and looses all power going over 50 miles per hour. no warning, no codes appear, nothing. looses all power, power steering, brakes, etc. have to get to side of road, wait 20 minutes, then car will start. this has happened now over 16 times. The latest time with my grandchild in the car, the vehicle behind me almost crashed into me. this continues to be a safety issue and it is unclear as to why dodge is doing nothing about this despite multiple complaints by hundreds of drivers. I have spent over $3000 so far trying to fix this to no avail, new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, TPM relay, new keys, new programming, still happens. will never buy another dodge/chrysler again, and have told family and friends the same potential hazard of this brand.

It is unknown at this time what is wrong with the vehicle. The problem started two weeks ago. Initially after driving sustained highway speeds, the van will hesitate to brake when driving through town. When approaching a stop it would stutter to a stop and then stutter to drive again when pressing the gas, the delay was about 2-3 seconds. In two weeks time with approximately 200 miles driven, it started stalling at stops. Once at a traffic light and also at a stop sign. These incidents happened in the same day and since then, it had not been driven due to it being a major safety concern. It has been taken to an auto shop that has run the full diagnostics on it and the computer system is not catching any issues, there are no lights are on the dash. After the engine stalls, it runs if it is turned off and back on again. The brakes, rotors, and tires were replaced when I started noticing that there was an issue with stopping, I figured the problem was that they needed replaced since I have owned the vehicle 2 years and it hadn’t been done since I purchased the van. March 17 was the date it stalled twice and it was the only time the engine stalled in the past two weeks.

AT JUST OVER 36000 MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR NEEDED TO HAVE CYLINDER HEADS AND ANOTHER ENGINE PART REPLACED. WHEN I WENT TO PICK THE VAN UP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON- I WAS TOLD THE PCM (POWER CONTROL MODULE) WAS BAD. AFTER APPROX. 10000 MORE MILES, WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD, ALL OF MY LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY DASH BOARD- THE VEHICLE WENT INTO SOME MODE AND I COULDN'T DRIVE OVER 25 MPH. I STOPPED AT A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND WAS TOLD THAT MY BATTERY NOW HAD A BAD CELL, THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD- I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS AGAIN TOLD THE PCM WAS BAD. WHY IS THE PCM FAILING? AN ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY BEING BAD AT GOING AT 46000 MILES, JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD. I SEE MANY OF THE CHRYSLER PRODUCTS HAD RECALLED ALTERNATORS- WHAT ABOUT THIS PCM? WHY IS CONTINUING TO FAIL?

THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED MANUALLY OR ELECTRICALLY. THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK ELECTRICALLY OR MANUALLY, SO THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OPENING HANDLES CANNOT BE OPERATED. USING THE KEY FOB OR INTERIOR BUTTONS TO OPEN THE DOOR CAUSE A MESSAGE TO DISPLAY ON THE DASH INFORMATION AREA SAYING "UNLOCK DOOR TO OPERATE." THIS POSES A RISK IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND MY CHILDREN NEED TO EXIT OR BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IF OTHER DOORS ARE BLOCKED OR DAMAGED DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STATIONARY. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE IN MOTION.

this is the fourth time i am filing a complaint. My 2013 dodge grand caravan completely dies and looses all power going over 50 miles per hour. no warning, no codes appear, nothing. looses all power, power steering, brakes, etc. have to get to side of road, wait 20 minutes, then car will start. this has happened now over 25 times. The latest time i was driving on the expressway and the vehicle behind me almost crashed into me. this continues to be a safety issue and it is unclear as to why dodge is doing nothing about this despite multiple complaints by hundreds of drivers. I have spent $3000 so far trying to fix this to no avail, new battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, TPM relay, new keys, new programming, still happens. case manager from 2023 told me to take to dodge dealer, spent additional $800, but they had no root cause. happened again. case manager told me to take to a different dodge dealer for second opinion. No codes, no root cause, but charged $400 diagnostic fee. When is Dodge going to do something about this? How many complaints are needed? does someone have to get injured? just tell me how to fix it, that is what i and thousands of others this happens to need to know before someone gets killed.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE CAR SHUT OFF ENTIRELY AFTER HITTING A BUMP. THE RPM WENT DOWN TO 0 AND THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE AS WE WERE DRIVING. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. THE CAR SIMPLY SHUT OFF AT 80 MPH. ATTEMPTS TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON DID NOT WORK. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY EACH TIME. THE ENGINE IN THE VAN STALLED (SIMPLY SHUT OFF - DID NOT SPUTTER) WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED IN TRAFFIC. CONSEQUENTLY THE POWER ASSIST FOR THE STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED. IN THAT SITUATION MY PHYSICALLY CHALLANGED WIFE WAS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VAN. THANKFULLY THE VAN ROLLED TO A STOP WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE OR ANYTHING, OR GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND. Unknown what causes the issue. I've read it could be the tpim. I was driving down the highway when the insturment cluster stopped working, no speedometer, no gear indicator, gas gauge not working, no dash lights. the wipers turned on and would not turn off lose of both turn signals (I pulled over and checked) thankfully there was not traffic behind me when I was making a turn. Speedometer stopped working. No warning lights, insturments cluster was black. Not sure if my Brake lights were functional I couldn't check as I by myself. This has happened 3 times in the last month and a half. Not sure if the airbags are still functional. This is a major electrical issue.There are numerous forums of this same issue affecting different year/ models of Dodge and Chrysler vehicles.

THE TRAILER LIGHTING MODULE FAILED TWICE. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN INTERMITTENT LIGHTS AND ALARMS THAT ACTIVATE IN THE DASH PANEL. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) CAUSES THESE ACTIONS, INCLUDING THE FAILURE OF THE TOWING LIGHT MODULE. THE LIGHTING FAILED HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO TOW A TRAILER WITH DEFECTIVE LIGHTS UNTIL I COULD REACH A SAFE PLACE TO DROP THE TRAILER.

Electrical system-intermittent failure. While driving or idling, the vehicle will randomly shut off. The vehicle has turned off randomly while being driven down the road with little to no warning, even while operating at high speed. When this happens, you are also left without power steering, ABS brakes, fuel pump, and literally anything that operates electrically. Sometimes it will turn right back on without the operator taking any action, but this is not always the case. There have also been times when it is not able to be turned back on for 20+ minutes. When it shuts down, power doors and windows are also inoperable and the side doors and back hatch cannot be opened either by pushbutton or manually, which compounds the risk of a serious collision with that of entrapment. This is especially dangerous given that they are a popular choice for families with children-like mine. My mechanic cited the problem as being the TIPM and said that this problem is endemic with these vans. A cursory internet search confirmed his claims. There are far too many anecdotes of people driving 80mph down the highway and all of a sudden having their vehicle stop operating completely while they are traveling at high speeds. This is a fatal accident (and huge products liability lawsuit) waiting to happen. A recall is absolutely imperative. My vehicle is available for assessment.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start-up after multiple attempts. The contact had the battery replaced; however, the failure continued. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the alternator and fuel pump were replaced. The contact was then alerted by her grandchildren that an abnormal fuel odor was coming from the back seat of vehicle. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who referred her to a dealer for assistance. An appointment was made for the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000. The VIN was not available.

Over the time we have owned this vehicle the sliding side doors have stopped working & then started. Recently both doors lost power completely . I have read that this is a very common problem with these Vans but the doors when power is lost can not be opened at all from the inside making the passengers crawl out the windows, front doors, or back hatch. If this were a fire, wreck, or emergency this would be a death trap. When calling dealerships to attempt to find a fix or help we have been told time and time again that this is a common problem in these vans.

PUTTING THE VAN IN PARK AND RESTARTING THE CAR FIXES THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS. MECHANIC HAS TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN NEAR STOPLIGHTS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IT ALSO SEEMS TO OCCUR WITHIN 10-20 MINUTES OF STARTING THE VEHICLE. ON ONE OCCASION THE BRAKES LOCKED UP WITH THE STEERING. AS BEST I CAN DESCRIBE IT, IT SOUNDS LIKE A TURKEY CALL COMING FROM THE AREA IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. IF CAR IS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL THE NOISE STOPS. DROVE CAR FOR 500 MILES HOPING NOISE WOULD STOP, THEN BROUGHT IT TO DEALER. DEALER CALLS IT A "FLUTTER" CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT, THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING OVER UNDER THE HOOD AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEY SAID THEY WOULD REFER IT TO CHRYSLER. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER. SINCE THE FIRST TIME, CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER TWO MORE TIMES. LAST TIME CHRYSLER TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS DID NOT WORK. SO NOW THEY ARE JUST GUESSING. I ASKED CHRYSLER TO SEND A FACTORY MAN TO CHECK IT OUT, THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO THAT, THEY HAVE TO WORK WITH THE DEALER. I'VE ASKED THEM FOR A "LONER" CAR BUT THEY REFUSED SAYING MY CAR IS STILL DRIVABLE. DEALER SAYS THEY CAN DO NOTHING MORE UNTIL THEY HEAR FROM CHRYSLER. I BOUGHT THIS VAN TO TAKE THINGS TO VIRGINIA THIS SUMMER AND TO FLORIDA THIS WINTER. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN IT FOR A LONG TRIP. ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2015, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE TRAVELLING FROM CANADA TO USA AT NIGHT TIME WITH MY WIFE AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN. BECAUSE I CARRY A VEHICLE SCANNER WITH ME, I PULLED OVER AT A REST STOP AND CHECKED THE VOLTAGE SENSE PID. IT SHOWED 12.5V. THOUGHT THAT WAS ACCEPTABLE AND CONTINUED DRIVING. APROXIMATELY 400 MILES LATER, VEHICLE EXHIBITED SUDDEN LOSS OF MOMENTUM WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 72MPH, AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELARATOR, VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED AND RPMS ROSE TO 4500, HOWEVER VEHICLE SLOWED EVEN MORE AND I HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO GET TO RIGHT SHOULDER. The check engine and TPMS warning lights were illuminated. No injuries were sustained, and no medical attention was received. Ignition problems the vehicle would not start I had to have roadside come jump my vehicle off. After letting the vehicle run for about 30 minutes I shut it off and waited a minute and it started up fine. After about 3 hours of sitting I went out to the vehicle and it wouldn't start. I had to put It in neutral and it tried starting until it ran out. After turning the wheel and playing with the key it finally cranked over. I know there have been recalls regarding the tpim. It is available for inspection upon request.

The TIPM fuse box under the hood has a malfunction which causes certain components to randomly start and stop working. This has caused the engine to stay running while the ignition is off, has caused the fuel pump to start and stop, has caused the ABS brake system to fail, and causes major component issues with lights and other electrical parts. This has been reported several times to Chrysler and Dodge for this year, but there is no recall or fix available.

The van just stopped like it ran out of gas. It did not restart until the next day. I can drive for days, then without warning it will die. I changed the Drummond fuel vapor leak detection pump and the fuel pump relay. it stopped again a few days later. same thing, it acted like it ran out of gas. It will restart a few hours later or the next day. It has happened 4 times so far.

The contact owned a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving at 25-35 MPH with someone in the front passenger seat a semi-truck crashed into the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle spun seven times and continuously hit the concrete barriers on each side of the highway. The contact stated that the body of the vehicle shifted 5 inches away from the frame. The air bags were deployed but were deflated. The contact became unconscious temporarily and upon regaining consciousness, he noticed that he was laying flat in the front driver's seat as the seat had fractured into two. The contact also noticed that the driver's seatbelt had snapped. The contact was able to exit the vehicle with the assistance of emergency units and the fire department. The contact was transported to the hospital by the emergency unit. The contact sustained consistent middle back pain that would sometimes cause him to crawl instead of walking, numbness in both legs, consistent headaches, and Impaired vision. The other passenger sustained a seatbelt mark and trauma. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard where it was totaled. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V291000 (Air Bags). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

I want to express my disappointment in whoever sold you this vehicle and not only sold it to you in this condition but if I heard you correctly, they said it was inspected? If it was inspected and this condition got through I would not be trusting the repair facility that “inspected” this vehicle for the “seller” of this car. Can you ask for the inspection report findings? Ma’am, we cannot even diagnose further issues until the brakes on this vehicle are brought up to a safe standard so it can be test driven properly. I reviewed your vehicle service contract through Superior Protection Plan and I found the mileage logged on the form dated 10/06/2022 (Thursday) as 87,158 miles when sold to you. Your current reading on your mileage on vehicle is 87,934 miles. That is about a 776 miles added to this vehicle from that purchase day to the date we received your vehicle during the week of October 24th through the 28th and it was left on our lot. This being said, I find it very difficult to believe you actually drove 776 miles from the 10/06/2022 purchase to this point with the vehicle in this very unsafe condition. If you did drive that much in this vehicle like it is you are much braver than I. As the pictures show this issue didn’t happen while this vehicle was in your possession, this was years of sitting and rusting on these parts and it was sold to you in this condition. Worries me very much. Your vehicle has been in a local repair facility several times already and another facility further north from here and again this issue was not spotted. As of March 2022, the van has shut down while driving on the interstate. The steering wheel, brakes and vehicle become hard to use. The van will slow quickly and has come close to causing an accident on multiple occasions. When along the side of the road, its then a challenge to get the van to start. It will crank with no fire. This has occured over 10x and is occurring more frequently with time. Along with the shut down I have had issues with the vehicle not starting. It will crank with no fire. Several mechanics have replaced and wormed on the vehicle with no luck to the conclusion. Things changed: TIPM, engine computer, fuel pump, starter. I purchased this vehicle jan 2 2022.

The ignition is not responding as it should. I have to turn it more and more often when I should only turn it once. My grave concern is that of my wife and grandkids. When she is driving them to and fro, the car will hesitate to start and the real problem will be when it turns off. If they are all in the car and on the highway it could be a disaster. I had new key pods made and the vendor told me that Jeep uses the same ignition and they have a recall. Please help.

TIPM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST EVEN THOUGH THIS IS BEEN A PROBLEM IN OTHER DODGE VEHICLES. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS NOT WORKING THE HORN STARTED GOING OFF FOR NO REASON AND THERE WERE STARTING ISSUES, WITH CAR EVENTUALLY STALLING WHILE MOVING. IT WAS OVER $1200 TO FIX. THEN, SIX MONTHS LATER THE CAR IS STILL NOT STARTING ACCURATELY AND WAS FIXED AT MY COST. A GROUND WIRE WAS PUT IN FROM THE BATTERY TO THE TRANSMISSION. I WASTOLD THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE TIPM ISSUE BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING IT. DODGES PROBLEM-SOLVING DATABASE SHOWED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN OTHER DODGES WITH GROUND WIRE. THIS REPAIR WAS AT MY COST. LASTLY, THE VALVES AND GASKETS AS PART OF THE POWERTRAIN SYSTEM HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. THEY ARE UNDER WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR WAS NO COST TO ME, BUT THEY'VE HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE.

THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM, TOP TO BOTTOM, TO SAFELY ACCEPT A MEN'S US SIZE 11.5 SHOE. WITH MY HEEL PLANTED ON THE FLOOR, I AM UNABLE TO FREELY PIVOT MY FOOT FROM THE THE GAS PEDAL TO THE BRAKE AND BACK AGAIN. THE TOP OF MY SHOE GETS FIRMLY STUCK TRYING TO MOVE BETWEEN THE TWO PEDALS. IF NOT COMPLETELY STUCK, MY FOOT MOTION IS IMPEDED AND SLOWED DOWN IN MANY OTHER WAYS. ONLY, WITH A LOT OF THOUGHT AND ADJUSTMENT OF MY FOOT AND HEEL POSITION AM I ABLE TO OPERATE THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR AT ALL. THIS LOW FOOT CLEARANCE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWERS MY RESPONSE TIME WHEN I NEED TO HIT THE BRAKE IN AN EMERGENCY. IT REQUIRES A LOT OF EXTRA THOUGHT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AS WELL, TAKING ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE ROAD. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE (OR EVEN A THOUGHT) IN MANY YEARS OF DRIVING SEVERAL OTHER MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES. I OWN A 1999 GRAND CARAVAN THAT HAS PLENTY OF FOOT ROOM IN IT. NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO THINK ABOUT HOW THEY NEED TO SPECIALLY POSITRON THEIR FOOT TO OPERATE THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR. FOR SAFE DRIVING, REACTION TIME IS EVERYTHING. DODGE HAS DESIGNED THIS VEHICLE WITH CRAMPED FOOT-ROOM THAT CAN DRASTICALLY REDUCE THE TIME IT TAKES TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT A FREELY AVAILABLE BRAKE PEDAL MAY HAVE AVOIDED. I HAD THE IDENTICAL PROBLEMS TESTING A NEWER DODGE CHARGER AND A CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. I AM MAKING THE ASSUMPTION THAT THIS CRAMPED AND UNSAFE DESIGN IS A STANDARD THAT COVERS MANY CHRYSLER MAKES AND MODELS. THIS ISSUE AFFECTS ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY STARTING AND STOPPING THE VEHICLE. SEE 5 PICTURES WITH A SIZE 11.5 SHOE SHOWN. ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE....PUMPED THE BRAKE HARD WHEN THAT DIDN'T WORK BUT NO LUCK. THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED...I EVEN CHECKED TO SEE IF GAS PEDAL WAS PHYSICALLY STUCK SOMEHOW ON THE FLOOR MAT (IT WAS NOT), AND LIFTED UP FROM UNDERNEATH IT WITH MY FOOT TO VERIFY THIS, DURING THIS ATTEMPT TO REGAIN SPEED CONTROL..I BELIEVE IT WAS THIS IN ADDITION TO PUTTING VEHICLE IN "PARK" THAT ACTUALLY STOPPED THE ENGINE ACCELERATION/REV SO THE VEHICLE COULD PHYSICALLY STOP... II IS VALID TO NOTE THAT I PREVIOUSLY TOOK THIS VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP (AROUND 36000 MILES) FOR EVALUATION WITH PRIOR CONCERNS OVER THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION NOT SEEMING TO FUNCTION RIGHT/SMOOTHLY....THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT "THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT." & IT WAS RETURNED TO ME WITH NO ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR. I COULD FEEL THE IMPACT FROM THE CRASH AND ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE PHYSICAL THERAPY AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER HAD TO GO TO THE ER.. BOTH VEHICLES HAD TO BE TOWED. I HAD THE VAN FIXED AT A LICENSED SHOP, WHEN I CALLED AND ASKED DODGE WHY NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BECAUSE THEY STATED THAT THEIR ARE SENSORS THAT GO OFF ON IMPACT AND MY BUMPER HAD TO BE REPLACED, THEY STATED, NO REPLY, BECAUSE I HAD NOT HAD IT DONE AT A DODGE DEALERSHIP. I AM STILL HAVING THERAPY FOR HIP AND BACK FROM IMPACT AND SETTLED WITH INSURANCE. I'M JUST WONDERING WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF ON IMPACT, OTHER VEHICLE WAS GOING FASTER THAN WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE FOR CONDITIONS AND MORE THAN 25. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING EARLY MORNING, WHILE ENTERING THE FREEWAY, SHE ACCELERATED AND CROSSED LANES. WHEN SHE REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR, THE VAN KEPT ACCELERATING. SHE WAS BETWEEN TWO SEMI TRUCKS SO SHE TAPPED THE BRAKES AND STARTED HITTING THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS. THE VAN KEPT ACCELERATING. SHE WAS ABLE TO CHANGE LANES TOWARDS THE BERM AND STARTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. SHE REACHED A SPEED OF ABOUT 85 MPH. AS SHE WAS BRAKING, THE ENGINE WAS STILL TRYING TO ACCELERATE. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VAN OFF THE ROAD AND EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE BRAKES FROM THE FORCED STOP. RESTARTING THE VAN AFTER A FEW MINUTES, SHE PROCEEDED SAFELY TO WORK. AFTER RETHINKING THE SITUATION, SHE CONTACTED DODGE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TESTED THE VAN AND FOUND NO CODES IN THE COMPUTER. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, A TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VAN AND IT ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY ALSO. HE WROTE THAT THE PEDAL WAS NOT STUCK. HE PUT THE VAN IN NEUTRAL TWICE AND TURNED THE KEY OFF, AND RESTARTED THE VAN AND THE RPM'S WERE AT 4,000. HE THEN PULLED OFF THE ROAD. HE WAITED A WHILE AND THEN RESTARTED THE VAN AND IT RAN NORMAL. THE TECHNICIAN DID STATE THAT THERE WERE SOME CODES (C212A, B192D, & B18A8) THE DEALER CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORP. AND THEY SENT A TECHNICIANS OUT TO INVESTIGATE. *TR

THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT AND HANGS LIMP TODAY. THE PROBLEM HAPPEND A COUPLE TIMES, BUT SEATBELT RETRACTED AND THEN I NOTIFIED DEALER IN LATE DECEMBER AFTER ANOTHER OCCURRANCE IN WHICH THAY DETERMINED THE SEATBELT WAS DEFECTIVE.BY NOT RETRACTING AND THEY ORDERED A REPLACEMENT SEAT BELT. THE SEAT BELT IS IN AND IT IS JUST A MATTER OF GETTING TO SERVICE, BUT IN THE MEANTIME, I EXPERIENCED A REAR COLLISION WHEN PARKED WITH DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT ON AND WISH I HAD A NON-DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT ON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT WAS SITTING AT A TRAFFIC STOP WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO HIS REAR, CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF A PRECEDING VEHICLE.
