Vehicle started on fire while parked. It was a total loss. The auto shop reported that the fire started due to faulty wiring under the driver side seat. Specifically, related to the harness wiring. Thankfully this didn't start while I was driving. I have seen other reports on this website for similar fires on the Dodge Grand Caravan AND an actual recall for the Crysler Town and Country for similar fires related to faulty wiring. That vehicle is almost identical to the dodge grand caravan. Something need to be done before a loss of life incident...I reached out to Dodge to notify them, and an investigator sent me a same day email that Dodge is not responsible. I only had 65,000 miles on this 2014 DGC and took great care of it.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated the key fob remained stuck in the ignition. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing an unknown component on the dashboard to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

First I would like to say I love my van. I did buy used approximately three years ago and it was in great shape. Did not like the fact that I’m not able to check or do anything with my transmission without going to the shop but I was never informed of that prior to purchase. As far as the electrical goes the radio will just stop working no reason whatsoever and then it to work again later. And my back hatch opens whenever it wants! Going down the road parked in the driveway doesn’t matter. For the time being because I’m on a little bit of income I had to pull the fuse for that rear door. The only problem is it won’t even open manually without the fuse in it. Any suggestions

Hello good morning I have a serious situation. On April 20, 2022, my 2014 Dodge minivan caught fire at 3:00 a.m. Yes. no explanation. After searching the internet I realized that the same thing has happened to many people with these cars. Look on the official Dodge website, make a claim and they gave me an appointment to see my car on May 24 at Triangle Chrysler in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Later I called today May 27, 2022 to see the result of the investigation and they say that they are not responsible and they do not give me any other explanation. My van is a total loss, everything burned inside. I feel very sad and disappointed as the fire started inside the car in the middle of the morning and it is exactly the same as the recall of this car says. I don't have insurance that covers those damages, nor do I have money to buy another one. I lost everything. I need immediate help. search the internet co. the vin number of the car and the factory recall appears but nobody ever sent me any notification. what can i do i need help

The electronic component in the left passenger sliding door that operates and opens the door does not work. The door does not open manually without this functioning. I looked on line and found that this is common with this make and model of a van specifically to the left passenger sliding door malfunctioning (driver's side passenger sliding door). This is potentially dangerous for passengers in the back riding if an accident occurs. I had my vehicle in the shop for other repairs and had a mechanic at two different places confirm that it is the automatic door opener mechanism that has failed to operate the door. I would like this remedied for everyone experiencing this same malfunction to ward off safety concerns. The cost to repair this is going to be close to if not $1,000.00. I have the part on order now and I am waiting for an appointment. Should there be a recall, I would like reimbursement for cost.

The seals in the oil cooler/filter assembly are leaking and causing oil to run down the motor and along the exhaust system underneath potentially causing a serious fire risk. The leak could also cause the engine to seize and pose a risk while driving at highway speeds or in corners. When searching for recalls on the internet it says there isn’t enough vehicles with the problem to trigger a recall. It don’t take long searching to see this is a wide spread well know issue with most all the 3.6 and 3.2l engines. It was a terrible plastic design places in one of the hottest areas of the engine. This issue was so common dodge eventually changed to design of the cooler to correct the safety issue and it was so prevalent on all these engines. The fix is fine but it has left all these other vehicles on the road with the unsafe design flaw. I really can’t understand why an issue as well known, common and serious has been allowed to remain without a recall, especially given they have an updated replacement part available to correct the issue. I can’t help but wonder if this issue was on an import it would have had a recall years ago but because it’s a US manufacturer is getting swept under the rug. Please do the right thing and look into the issue, especially as common as it is. I can’t even get an inspection sticker on the vehicle because is unsafe and doesn’t meet the standard for a Maine inspection, so there is no way one can argue it isn’t a safety issue.

Symptoms and Unknown: There are numerous reports of the oil filter housing that is prone to cracking which causes the engines in 3.6 Pentastar V6 engines to leak oil. This engine issue affects the 2011 and newer Grand Caravans with the said engine. My sister has had to replace this part twice now (Every other year - She replaced the last one two years ago) in her Grand Caravan SE. The symptoms which leads us to know that this is the problem is the vehicle develops a really bad oil leak and the oil level ends up being a quart low. The same symptoms happened when the first part was replaced prior to the part that needs to be replaced now. My sister was informed that the part she put in last time is not a definite fix as the said part could malfunction and crack again. This is a defect of the design of this engine that needs to be recalled and replaced with the new part free of charge that is also an updated part that is different than older parts that will not break. This is a SAFETY HAZARD as my sister has two small children and they could wind up on the road or interstate broken down. RECALL or TSB (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) is needed from Chrysler.

Like the other hundreds of thousands 3.6 Litre V6 engines with the notorious oil filter housing/oil cooler oil leak, mine just started at 120,000 miles. I'm the only person to ever change the engine oil and oil filter in this vehicle. I have always torqued the oil filter to spec (18 ft. lbs). There should be a recall on this faulty part.

Ignition module failed, causing van to stall while driving. The stall forced the vehicle to lose power steering and it had to coast over to the shoulder to get out of traffic, this could’ve resulted in a crash or blocking traffic. This happened twice, once during a very hot day. The van was able to restart after about 30 minutes and finished the short distance to the destination. The second time was at night when temps had cooled 20 degrees and it stalled at approximately the same distance it had traveled the first time. That time it was not able to be restarted and had to be towed to a repair shop, where they tested and replaced the ignition module. No warning lights or indicators went off either time prior to the engine stall. The check engine light did not come on until the second time when it would not start again.

The contact owned a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while her daughter was driving at approximately 55 MPH the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the daughter lost power steering and crashed into a highway barrier on the passenger side. The contact stated that the damage was from the front fender to the rear fender. The contact stated that all the air bags had deployed. The contact stated that the daughter did not notice any warning lights. The contact stated that she had experienced the vehicle stall failure and that failure was intermittent and had occurred while she had been driving on three separate incidents. The contact stated that the police were on the scene and issued a report. The contact's daughter was not taken to a hospital emergency room and was only shaken up. The contact advised that the vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The contact was advised by the police that the vehicle was a total loss. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

.....2014 Dodge Grand Caravan...dc: 07-14...approx date of incident:09-12-2025...reported to Dealer and Dodge customer svc @ 1997. Reported on 09 - 24,25,26 - 2025, after researching on you tube and the net and finding other vehicles with same issue, dodge case was opened with NO assistance from dodge at this time! Out of warranty! Dodge is aware of the problem and extended a warranty on the issue up to 10 years/ unlimited mileage...Problem; While driving down the interstate at highway speed my drivers side SEAT BACK HEAD RESTRAINT EXPLODED, almost causing an accident! No warnings, No check engine lights, No airbag lights, nothing just a loud bang and the head restraint slammed forward into the back of my head.....

The passenger side headrest just exploded. It turns out that this is a safety feature that deployed on its own as part of the housing that holds the unit together just apparently broke. Had someone been sitting there, this would have blasted them in the back of the head. There were no warnings or messages. Now I'm concerned the driver side headrest will explode too while I'm driving and I have an exploded passenger headrest thats now not safe for passengers.

While driving in the parking lot of my kids school to drop them off in the morning, I heard a loud noise and felt something hit me in the back of my head with some force. It was not painful, but was actually very uncomfortable. I stopped in the parking lot to see what it was. I noticed that my driver side headrest was out of place (the fabric portion was popped forward) away from the plastic backing. I could see the the springs inside the headrest. My husband used a zip tie to pull the headrest back together. My vehicle was not in any accidents to cause this to happen. I did not take it to a dealer to inspect, as it just occurred. There were no warning signs/lights. It was very unexpected and abrupt. No one was injured, but my head was actually uncomfortable and I very glad that I did not have my son driving at the time, as he could have been injured due to the spring loaded force.

I bought this van the previous owner told me that the headrest deployed at an unknown time while the vehicle was parked and no one was in it. Since owning it a few months ago the other headrest deployed. This also happened while the van was parked in my driveway and no one was in it.

Driver's seat headrest suddenly deployed while driving. I contacted Dodge they haven't replied yet. From what I'm reading there are numerous vehicles with same issue. I was very startled, distracted from surprise and have a sore neck.

Sliding door actuator failed causing the door to remain in the locked position and no way to unlock. The actuator arm broke off due to inaffective connection and therefor without cutting a hole in the door it cannot be opened

We have had to replace both of the Front Driver & Passenger Windows twice with-in the last 4 years. The latest replacement happened this year with the Passenger window. The vehicle was setting at my work. There was nothing wrong with the window at 6:30 a.m. but, at 3:40 p.m the window assembly had broken and the window slid down and was inside the door. This is very much a safety hazard and could have a lot of additional implications if there was inclement weather or if the vehicle was in a more public area where someone could have entered the vehicle thru the missing window and either hidden in the vehicle to attack the owner when they returned or stolen items from the vehicle. There should be some type of tether / safety feature that would prevent the window from falling completely down if the window assembly malfunctions or breaks. There is also a design flaw in the motor housing which allows the post to fail and break off at the 90 degree corner where the post(s) meets the housing. These posts should have a radius at that point so that it is not a point of failure. Additionally, the motor is too strong for this housing and also adds unnecessary stress to these posts.

My passenger back automatic sliding door is doing a lot of clicking noise and not opening. I have tried opening it numerous times by hand to get my children out and have not been able so they came out the drivers side. But as I driving down the road later if I hit a bump and especially when I make a left turn and hit a bump the door will dislodge and open on its own. That is a very uneasy feeling when my children being a newborn, a 5 yr old or 11 yr old is by that door when it opens on its own. This has been happening for roughly 6mths. It had stopped for a few months but is doing it again

Our vehicle has had a recall on the HVAC system since we purchased it. The recall had been repaired prior to us purchasing it used from a Dealership and we have had the recall repaired 3 times since it has been under our ownership. Every year, the issue repeats itself. The HVAC system will blow out hot air only and the AC will not work and we have to bring it in to the shop.

My vehicle in the middle of the night got on fire and completely burned. After a week without turning my car on . I'm out of town and my neighbors call me at 3am telling me the vehicle got on fire . The fire department arrived and turn off the fire . They said the fire started on the front inner part . No one was near my vehicle. The vehicle got on fire by it self. I lost my car completely .

Passenger headrest airbag went off /exploded open while I was parking the van in my driveway. No one was sitting in the passenger seat so no one was injured. Yes, you can inspect it. I called dodge but they said there were no recalls. No one has inspected it. No warning lights.

As I was driving down the road, doing about 40-45 mph, the airbag in my driver's seat headrest deployed. I was jolted forward and suffered neck and back pain, as well as a headache. Due to the neck and back pain, I had to visit the ER and have a CT scan done. There were no lights on the dash at the time of this happening to indicate it was going to malfunction. This has not been investigated yet, as it happened over the weekend but I will be reporting to the manufacturer as soon as they're open as well.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the SRS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic rewired of the air bag wiring harness, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic a second time, and the mechanic stated that the wiring harness needed to be replaced and advised the contact to reach out to the local dealer. The dealer was contacted, and the dealer stated that the wiring harness was being redesigned because the older model was not functioning correctly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,000.

THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED IN MY 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION THE PLASTIC CLIPS THAT RETAIN THE METAL LOCK BAR (NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS CALLED) BROKE. THIS CANNOT BE DISENGAGED AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO WRECK MY VAN. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NO RECALLS ARE IN PLACE FOR THIS. THIS IS INSANELY DANGEROUS.

Passenger sliding door cannot be opened any more. Not electronically and not manually. Not from inside - nor from outside and hence is a huge safety risk e.g. in case of fire or accident.

The passenger side sliding door will not open, it is stuck in the lock position and will not unlock with the inside or outside handle, and will not open with the power door buttons. Rear passengers cannot use the door to enter or exit. There are no warning lights or unusual symptoms besides the stuck door.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (40 MPH OR MORE) THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR TRIM FLIES OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO 9 OUT OF THE 11 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN'S THAT WE OWN AND HAS HIT OTHER VEHICLES CAUSING THEM TO SWERVE. IF THIS HAPPENED ONCE OR EVEN TWICE I WOULDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT - BUT 3 OF THE DODGE GRAND CARAVANS WE ACTUALLY REPLACED THIS PIECE MORE THAN ONCE AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. I WOULD SAY THAT WE HAVE HAD AT LEAST 13 OF THESE FLY OFF IN THE PAST 2 YEARS FROM OUR 2014 - 2018 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN MODELS. THIS IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS TO OTHER DRIVERS AND ESPECIALLY MOTORCYCLISTS AS IT IS A PROJECTILE!

WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS WARM THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR MALFUNCTIONS. I DON'T HAVE THE EXACT DATE WRITTEN DOWN BUT LEAST NOW TWO SUMMERS IN A ROW WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE USE THE DOOR IN THE HEAT. WE GOING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD THIS WILL MAKE THE DOOR AJAR LIGHTS COME ON AND THE DOOR WILL ACT LIKE IT IS OPENED SOME. THE REAR OF THE DOOR BEGINS TO MAKE A CONTINUOUS POUNDING NOISE. ALSO JUST CLOSING THE DOOR IN THE HEAT THE EXACT SAME THING WILL HAPPEN DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU USE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR OR NOT. THE REAR OF THE DOOR CONTINUES MAKING A NOISE, A POUNDING NOISE THAT IS VERY LOUD. WITH TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT THIS CONCERNS ME VERY MUCH. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING AND THE DOOR OPEN. Was driving down the highway coming back from Orlando when my air bag light went off. Heard cracking in my head test and all of a sudden it expired and deployed and hit me in the back of the head and almost knocked me out. Made me dizzy and I had my kids in the car. This should not have happend if I was not in a car crash and dodge refuses to fix it. It was faulty without any warning. There are many people this has happend to and the had a extension back in 2024 and to repair them and I never received a letter

Sensor in the Passenger Seat is defective and will cause the Air Bag light to intermittently come on leaving the Passenger without Air Bags during an accident. ALL defects / warning lights dealing with AIR BAGS or any other SAFETY FEATURE on a vehicle, regardless of year, should be looked at immediately by Dealers when the vehicle is brought into the Dealership. These are MAJOR Safety Defects and if the Dealership cannot inspect / and safely repair the vehicle during that visit, then a loaner car should be issued to the vehicle Owner until the vehicle is repaired. Maybe this will help the OEMs make Consumer Safety a priority instead of maximizing profitability of a component by using cheap inferior products that may save .0001 cent per unit sold.

Came out to vehicle to drive and noticed driver side headrest was deployed forward and came apart. The vehicle was not in an accident and there were no prior alarms or notifications on the dash system to indicate this would happen. Luckily the headrest didn't deploy while someone was driving. The Dodge dealer says this repair or replacement is not their responsibility. This issue has not currently been resolved.

The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle suddenly came to a stop. The RPM increased to 4,000 and then decreased. The brake pedal was depressed to avoid a crash. The contact stated that the transmission became inoperable. The transmission downshifted unexpectedly, and the vehicle bucked for 1/8th of a mile. There was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact called the local dealer, who confirmed there were no open recalls associated with the VIN. The dealer emailed the VIN to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

My transmission and transmission pump has suddenly failed. Grand caravans manufactured late 2014, 2015 and 2016 have been recalled. Clearly this has the same issue. My vehicle should be included in the recall

The vehicle suddenly shuts down while driving creating a dangerous situation. The dealership diagnosed it as a faulty ignition switch and said it is common and that there was the same issue on previous generation of caravan that was recalled. I have it scheduled for replacement and will ask for the old part back.

within in the past month the following issues took place: 1. vehicle would not start (battery is less than 1 year old) vehicle was jumped 2. while backing out of the drive way, midway into the street, the car shut off completely and would not start. Engine was running fine, wasn't a "stall". All electrical components shut off. While attempting to put car in neutral to push, the vehicle than started. 3. The day prior to this, my wife reported that while driving on the highway the dashboard lights completely shut off, they then started flashing on and off while driving. 4. This same issue happened on 10/30/21 The car has not yet been taken in for service for this problem. After the incident listed in #4 the battery warning light remained on.

ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE CONTACT HAD TO MANIPULATE THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT CALLED ZEIGLER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF PLAINWELL (1186 M-89, PLAINWELL, MI 49080, (269) 685-5800) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE CAUSED BY THE WIN MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000. *BF *AS

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED LAST YEAR FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE HEAD WAS REPLACED TWICE THEN THEY REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE MAIN COMPUTER. THE VAN STILL HAS THE ISSUE THAT COMES AND GOES. IT WILL BE FINE ONE DAY AND THEN ONE DAY GOING UP A HILL IT WILL GET REAL JERKY AND BUMPY FOR ANOTHER FEW DAYS. IT HAPPENED LAST FEBRUARY SO WE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO REPLACED THE OIL SENDING UNIT UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND BELT WHICH WAS $700 OUT OF POCKET. I FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS ENGINE BECAUSE OTHER PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. THEY REPLACED A HEAD ON 1-15-2016 THEN REPLACED IT AGAIN ON 1-29-2015. THEY REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS ON 3-4-2016. THE ALTERNATOR AND BELT WAS ON 2-27-2017. NOW WE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENING AGAIN.

WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 9/27/15. ON 10/3/14 WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE THE VEHICLE DIED AND SHOOK VIOLENTLY. ALL SYSTEM INDICATOR LIGHTS FLASHED RANDOMLY. 10/4/14 THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE AT A STOP SIGN. 5/6/15 THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE AT A STOP SIGN. 5/10/15 THE BATTERY LIGHT APPEARED FOR 2 HOURS.

On 7/1/2023 my vehicle began to malfunction while driving - power was flickering with EMC drive error flashing. When this happened, I was at a complete stop in traffic, so I put it in park, then restarted. Everything seemed to be fine, but I was cautious. The same thing happened again, so I pulled into a parking lot and went inside a store for a few minutes. I got back in the car, started the vehicle, then before pulling out into traffic, the center console reported a flashing error again, so I put it in park and restarted again, put my hazard lights on, then pulled away. I was consciously trying to stay a few car lengths behind vehicles ahead because I was nervous about what was going on and just wanted to keep away from other vehicles. I made it to an intersection where there was a red light with 2 cars ahead of me. I began braking and decelerated to around 5 MPH and within 30 feet of the vehicle in front of me when the vehicle lost power to the brake. I don’t recall if the steering also went out. I hit the bumper of the car in front of me, and her car was pushed into the car in front of her. Fortunately, I did not sustain any injuries. My airbags did not go off. My confidence in this equipment is seriously affected. How will I know this will not happen again? I could have died or taken the lives of other people. I requested that the company MobilityWorks not make any repairs to the vehicle until they explain the origin of the problem. Instead they replaced parts and stated they could not replicate the problem--it took them 6+ months to return the vehicle to me & the headlights do not even work. They refuse to inform me of what the malfunction was but cite neglected vehicle maintenance. I can document consistent vehicle maintenance. I refuse to drive this vehicle as it is clearly compromised. They aren't being transparent and should be required by law to notify disabled individuals including veterans of this risk. These modified vehicles are death traps!

10/19/2019, VEHICLE STATIONARY: THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR CALIPER FROZE IN THE FULL-ON POSITION WHEN LIGHTLY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I WAS JUST A MILE FROM HOME AND DROVE IT TO MY GARAGE (LESS THAT 30 MPH). IT WAS DANGEROUSLY HOT AND WOULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE AND MAJOR BREAKDOWN HAD I BEEN ON MY 18-HOUR FREEWAY COMMUTE. I JACKED UP THE REAR, REMOVED THE TIRE AND SAW THAT THE E-BRAKE SPRING HAD NOT RETURNED THE CALIPER TO THE BRAKE OFF POSITION. I WAS ABLE TO RETURN IT BY LIGHTLY TAPPING THE E-BRAKE LEVER TO THE OFF POSITION. AT THAT POINT THE BRAKE CALIPER MOSTLY WORKED AS IT SHOULD. HOWEVER, RE-APPLYING THE E-BRAKE WOULD AGAIN REFREEZE THE BRAKE TO FULL ON. I REPLACED WITH A MOPAR OEM CALIPER AND ALL IS WELL AGAIN. I SUSPECT THE E-BRAKE MECHANISM WITHIN THE CALIPER FAILED. ALL MY MILEAGE IS EXTENDED FREEWAY COMMUTING BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT STATE RESIDENCES. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED AND STILL MEASURED 5/16' THICK. THE ORIGINAL REAR PADS HAD AT LEAST HALF THEIR LIFE SPAN AND I DID NOT REPLACE THOSE EITHER. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I FEAR USING THE E-BRAKE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE CALIPER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR CANNOT TAKE THE LIMITED E-BRAKE USE WITHOUT FAILING.

DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED AN ENGINE MISFIRE AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN FOUND LOW COMPRESSION IN CYLINDER #3. FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS A VALVE FAILURE AND THE DEALER REPAIRS COST US OVER $2,700. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR 5YR/50,000MI LIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED IN APRIL...EIGHT DAYS BEFORE THE ENGINE FAILURE! WE PREVIOUSLY ENJOYED OWNING A CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY AND HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE AND UTILITY OF THE GRAND CARAVAN, BUT THE ENGINE FAILURE SEEMS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE AS OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED ON PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. The drivers side passenger door (slider) opens and shuts but must not be fully latching because you can hear the motor in the door trying to latch and it sounds like its continually trying to latch and just keeps going off when it's super hot out and it has now killed the battery in the van. When I was able to drive the van it would chime and say the door was open and continue sounding like it was trying to latch. We bought the van at the end of February so I have no idea if it ever happened to the previous owner.

Hello,my concern is safety and All of the recalls,have never been sent to my mail/honored.There seems to be safety issues with the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan engines,transmissions,tp sensors,door bend agitator.Theres more but Id rather have a safe healthy outcome.Also my vehicle accelerates at a un safe speed of over 80 mp when at 30 mpg without my foot even being on the pedal??? Was driving onto a narrow 2 lane elevated bridge when, without warning, the engine just stopped. There were no warning lights or sounds before or after the engine stopped. I was stranded on this bridge on busy route U.S 17 and no other drivers could go around me because of construction barriers. Eventually some other drivers that were stuck behind me helped me push vehicle to crest of bridge and I coasted to the bottom of the bridge and got out of the roadway. Vehicle was towed to Dodge dealer because it would not restart. Dealer diagnosed problem as Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). Cost to repair was $1382. It became quite apparent to me that Chrysler-Dodge has made a fortune replacing these parts on many of their vehicles, to the level that would indicate that there is some defect in the design or manufacturing of these parts. I have since read hundreds of stories about other drivers left stranded in the roadway over this issue. Certainly seems dangerous enough to warrant a safety recall over these numerous part failures.

CALLED A TOW TRUCK AFTER A BLOWN TIRE. WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST SHOP WHERE THEY ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE TIRE. First, the back hatch would just open itself even if you were going 30 miles an hour or under. Had it checked out couldn’t afford the diagnostics so I took out the fuse. Second, there is a ticking in my right back corner. It doesn’t happen when you’re going down the road, but it happens while you’re parked or just starting out. Mechanic friend of mine checked into it we would have to trace the electrical from front to back and again, I cannot afford that. So there’s 135,000 miles on my vehicle now and this happened about six months ago. I forgot there was a place to report it. I’m not very car savvy. Also, I had to replace my entire starting my starter, my alternator, a battery actually too and now I’m going to have to replace the switch for the ignition that’s all happened within one year or less. Just thought somebody should report these each time I fixed an ignition issue, the problem was fixed for at least a month or two and then the next one would happen. Very aggravating.

I have a problem with fuel pump circuit .it stays open and drain the battery after I shut the car off ,the problem with the fuel pump rely witch s integritated in the TIPM, to solve the problem I have to replace whole TIPM wich is cost $1070. All Dodge Grand Caravan model 2010 to model 2020 have same problem . Please liste this problem as a recall. Thanks for understanding.

Leaking oil from a cracked oil filter plastic cap after changing oil. Read that this is common in Dodge Grand Caravan. Don’t see why this issue has not been recalled. Hazardous incident can be a fire resulting from the oil filter that’s located at the top leaking down to the engine as well as onto the transmission. Another hazardous incident can be where the oil flies to the back where the muffler is located due to the wind while driving the vehicle which can result in a fire. My vehicle popped up with my oil changed needed to be done. Took it to Dodge Dealership and I did an oil change, oil filter, air filter, and cabin oil filter and nothing was mentioned that I had an oil leak. Notice oil droppings on my driveway. Took vehicle to my son’s mechanic and he said it was a seriously problem. Oil is all over the engine and transmission. This really should be a recall. It can be a matter of death resulting from it.

AT ABOUT 47,000 MILES, I BEGAN TO HEAR A GROWLING, GRINDING, SHAKING SOUND WHILE STOPPING ON HIGHWAY DURING HIGH SPEED. I BEGAN TO NOTICE IT AT REGULAR STOPPING SPEED. I THOUGHT IT WAS BRAKE PADS. HOWEVER, GOING TO THREE SHOPS. IT WAS DETERMINED BRAKES WERE NOT THE PROBLEM. I T WAS THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING. AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND REGULAR WEAR, I BELIEVE IT TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. This is the second time my driver side window motor has gone out. I know this is not a normal wear a d tear issue. The shifting column had the plastic cover just pop off(I guess the glue melted or it wasn't even secured in the first place. Driver side seat plastic covering over the switches disconnected from whatever it was connected too. As much as these cars are priced and sold, might as well by power wheel toy, because that's the quality. The control panel keeps flickering for the passenger doors and trunk. It's hit or miss if the rear hatch opens and sometimes we open the idimf door and it will close halfway to opening. I have had the car multi point inspected at a dodge dealership in January due to the sliding door malfunction as well as a major oil leak and repaired but the amount of electrical issues has been ongoing since purchase!!

I HAVE SINCE BEEN MADE AWARE THAT THE TIPM IS FAULTY. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT AT MILE 172 WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW. AT THAT TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ORIGINAL TIPM WAS FAULTY AND IT WAS REPLACED. 55000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND WE ARE WORKING ON TIPM NUMBER THREE. BOTH OF OUR TIPM ISSUES HAVE INVOLVED AIRBAG FUNCTION, WHICH MAKES THIS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

I have a 2014 Dodge Caravan.The van only has 48 k miles. The battery went bad so I replaced the battery. Then the problem started. 1st the car will NOT turn off. I remove the key and the engine is still running and won't turn off. I had to remove the ASD relay which was very hot. Once I was able to shut down ,now the dashboard shows the car in reverse but it is actually in park and won't come out of gear. The check engine light is on, the tire is low light is on, and the car with tire tracks is on,(abs). I looked up recalls and they have had a recall on the fuelpump relay .

In October 2022 I was driving down a residential road and slowed to turn into a parking lot and all power was lost. Was able to safely maneuver car and stop in parking lot. Put car in park, turned off the ignition. Restarted car, seemed ok. Mechanic said nothing was wrong. Now it’s happened twice more (April 14th and 17th, 2023). Once when trying to accelerate and merge onto a highway, once when slowing down to turn into a driveway. Both times the van just seemed to shut down and lose power. Steering became very difficult. Both times van restarted and continued driving after the incident. Waiting on word from mechanic to see what may be wrong.

The vehicle has shut itself off multiple times. It is seemingly random and happens without warning. It has happened when driving at slow speeds but it has also happened when driving at speeds of up to 60 mph and the vehicle loses power. We need to maneuver through traffic while coasting to the side of the road with no power steering available until the car is restarted. The dash goes blank and the car is rolled to a stop. The key is turned off and back on and the car drives as if nothing is wrong. It has been brought to a mechanic and dealer. No one has successfully duplicated the issue and there is no code issued after it happens.

Check engine light keeps going on. Code reads for a cyclinder 6 misfire. Took vehicle to two car repair shops and both determined cyclinder 6 is unresponsive and stated this is a common issue with the 3.6 engines. Mechanic replaced spark plug, coil and did pressure testing to rule out injector issues.

I have purchased my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan new in 2014 and I purchased a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan for my daughter. Both required transmissions replaced? My unfortunately was out of warranty for time not miles driven. My daughter's vehicle was covered by the warrantee. The first issue with my vehicle was wheel bearing going out. When they checked more in depth they discovered metal pieces in the transmission fluid. As a result my vehicle required a new transmission as did my daughter's vehicle. What I find very interesting is that the dealership had transmissions in stock? Seems like this is a bigger issue than they let on.

Loud audible ticking under the hood. Upon driving there is a jerk, tug feel. Upon smoothing out, it returns if going up a small slanted road. Has the feel of threatening to shut off. Purchased from Carmax. Reported to CarMax 11/23/21. Told me to schedule an appointment with Christian Brothers Automotive located in Montgomery County, Alabama. Due to Thanksgiving, took van in today on 11/29/21. There are no codes coming up. They asked if they were cleared by another. No one has seen this van other than an oil change. They were unable to help, but verified and documented the ticking. Possible lifter. Stated to see about recalls on this. Nothing. Unfixed.

UPON INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, I OBSERVED BOILING LIQUID; VEHICLE WAS NON-FUNCTIONAL AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. ODB SCANNER REPORTED IT AS A #2 CYLINDER FAILURE. PRIOR TO HIGHWAY FAILURE, VAN HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RESULTING FROM A #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE. NOTE: WE DROVE A 2000 CARAVAN FOR 14 YEARS AND KNEW TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS WHEN WE COULDN'T SEE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. SAME WITH ALL MY VEICHLES BEFORE THAT. MY 2014 GRAND CARAVAN HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH NOT STARTING. I MAY HAVE TO TRY 4 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL START. THIS WAS BAD ENOUGH, BUT IT HAS ALSO LEFT ME SITTING IN VERY BUSY TRAFFIC 3 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED AS I WAS EXITING OFF THE INTERSTATE. THE CAR JUST WENT DEAD WITH NO WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND KEEP GOING. THE SECOND AND THIRD INCIDENTS HAPPENED YESTERDAY. THE FIRST TIME IT WENT DEAD YESTERDAY WAS AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS COMPLETELY ON THE ROAD AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO ACCELERATE. MY CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE, ALL LIGHTS CAME ON THE PANEL, AND THE CAR WAS DEAD. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY, I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT ON A VERY BUSY 4 LANE HIGHWAY. THE CAR WENT DEAD WITH NO WARNING. WE TOOK THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CODE. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS CAR, THAT WE'VE HAD LESS THAN A YEAR, BECAUSE I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND EVEN MORE FOR MY CHILD'S LIFE. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VENT WINDOW SWITCH WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MECHANIC DISCONNECTED THE WINDOW SWITCH TO PREVENT A POSSIBLE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

DURING TRAFFIC AT ROUGHLY 10PM, THE CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. OUR VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED LOSING POWER ON THE FREEWAY. BY THE TIME WE GOT TO THE NEXT EXIT, WE WERE LOSING POWER WITH STEERING, CAUSING US TO CRASH INTO A FIRE HYDRANT. WE WERE ABLE TO GUIDE IT INTO A PARKING SPOT BEFORE LOSING THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL CAPABILITIES (WINDOWS, LIGHTS, ETC.). MY FAMILY WAS STUCK IN THAT DESOLATE ARE WITH NO WAY TO CHARGE OUR PHONE AND TWO SLEEPING YOUNG CHILDREN. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED, THE VEHICLE ENDED UP IN THE SHOP FOR A LITTLE UNDER 3 WEEKS FOR REPAIR TO THE COLLISION THAT HAD OCCURRED. THE ELECTRICAL CHECKED GOOD. THE NEXT DAY, THE CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHT AGAIN WENT ON AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD FOR ROUGHLY 18 MILES. THANK GOODNESS THIS TIME IT ALL HAPPENED IN THE DAY AND WE WERE STUCK IN A BETTER AREA. AFTER CHECKING GOOD AGAIN AT THE COLLISION CENTER, THE VEHICLE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE DODGE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS WHEN THEY FINALLY PINPOINTED IT WAS AN ALTERNATOR ISSUE. THANKFULLY THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPOND. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY TWO SECONDS FOR THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE AFTER DEPRESSING THE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A FREEWAY BRIDGE CHANGING LANES WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC TO INSIDE WALLED LANE AROUND A SLIGHT TURN,WHEN THE VAN FELT LIKE IT LOST TRACTION IN THE FRONT RIGHT ;AND SLIGHTLY SPED UP.I DROVE ALONG THE EDGE OF THE WALL,SAFELY TRYING TO REDUCE SPEED AND PULL OFF THE FREEWAY. LUCKILY I MANAGED TO ONLY GLANCE AND SCRAPE THE WALL CAUSED MILD BODY DAMAGE ;DEEP SCRAPS AND DENTS.WHEN I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY,I HAD A TRASHED FRONT RIGHT TIRE,HALF A RIM AND EXTENSIVE STEERING COMPONENT DAMAGE.I THINK IT IS POSSIBLE THE TIRE WAS LOW,WITH NO INDICATION OF IT,BUT WHAT SCARED ME WAS THE ACCELERATION INCREASE OF UP TO 10+ MPH.THE ROAD THERE JUST IN THAT AREA WAS DARK AND I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE HAD RUN OVER SOMETHING THAT CAUSED RT FRONT WHEEL TO LOSE GROUND CONTACT,;I.E A TRUCK RETREAD OR A ROLLED UP CARPET,BUT THE POLICE FOUND NOTHING IN THE ROADWAY,THE TEMP WAS IN THE HIGH 30'S,NO ICE......WATER AND I HAD $6500 IN DAMAGE.I HAVE BASIC STEEL RIMS,PLASTIC CAPS. *TR

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 10-30-14 AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT. ON 1-13-15 WITH THE COMPLAINT THE RADIO FUNCTION / STATION /TIME DISPLAY IS SO DIM THAT IT CAN NOT BE READILY BE SEEN IN DAYLIGHT UNLESS IT HAPPENS TO BE SHADED . ON A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO READ IT, EVEN THE TIME DISPLAY IS HARD TO READ. I WAS SURPRISED WHEN THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS VERY CLEAR TO ME. IN ORDER TO EVEN SEE THE TIME, A DRIVER HAS TO TAKE THEIR EYES OFF THE ROAD AND LOOK AT IT FOR A LONGER THAN NORMAL TIME. SAME FOR SEEING THE RADIO FUNCTION OR STATION. ALSO A DRIVER MAY SHADE THE DISPLAY WITH THE RIGHT HAND IN ORDER TO SEE IT. GM VEHICLES ALL HAVE A BRIGHT CLEAR DISPLAY THAT CAN BE SEEN IN THE STRONGEST SUNLIGHT. I CAN SAY FOR SURE THAT ACCIDENTS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL BE TAKING THEIR EYES OFF THE ROAD AND RIGHT HAND OFF THE WHEEL TO SEE THESE RADIOS.
