Drove down the highway, took an exit, came to a red-light, turns green, press the gas car won't move for about 2-4 seconds then jumps into gear and stays stuck in first...look up the problem see there was a recall for the Transmission on the year and model but only some of them.

Transmission fluid pump has been really loud and now slipping. Dodge had a recall on pumps from the 2015-2016 grand caravan however it seems a very widespread problem that they are not including ALL the vehicles that have the issues. My issue is exact to what the recall was for and I am not sure how my vehicle does not qualify.

The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to change gear, the transmission started slipping. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, where it was determined that the transmission solenoid might be defective. The transmission solenoid was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the contact decelerated and then accelerated, and the transmission slipped and made an abnormal winding sound. Additionally, while the vehicle was idling and the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle slightly jerked for several minutes. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle towed to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the transmission pump displayed low pressure; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train), and the mechanic referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer but was unable to speak to a live representative. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

I purchased a CPO 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan in February 2020 at around 18,000 miles (CPO warranty up 3-11-22). 18 months later I had to have transmission work done because it was having major issues (they repaired adapter housing and trans cooler line/hoses). 3 months after that I had more transmission work done because the same problems reappeared (they worked on trans pan leak and trans filter change). At this appointment, we asked the dealer that if anything else happens to the transmission around the date of the CPO warranty would a new trans be covered and they said of course. Well 8 days after the warranty expired (3-19-22), the car had to be towed Fieldhouse CDJR because the transmission was shot. A new transmission was put after sitting at the dealership for three months and they said that the trans wasn't under warranty and was $4500. I had to open a case with fca (82695547) in order for them to even start work on the van because they didn't touch it until I got in touch with fca. I was told I would pay $1800 and you would pay $2700. Well the dealership charged me $2700 also so they got $5600 total for that $4500 job. I received a check of the difference from fca and that issue was solved. However, the transmission AGAIN failed 4 months later in October 2022. I took it back to the same dealership because I thought that's where I had to take it because they just did the install. It sat there for 5 months (2-17-2023) until I opened ANOTHER case with fca (85204403) and they replaced the transmission again. It was warrantied until February 17, 2025. The transmission was fine until march 10 2025. Less than three weeks after this warranty expired I lost my transmission AGAIN. Fca says I have to now pay for diagnosis and purchase extended warranty to get any discounted work even though I’ve had 3 faulty transmissions and now have to purchase a 4th that will also probably only make it to JUST past the parts warranty.

Transmission has begun to slip in first gear and has shaking noticeable between 35-45 miles an hour and again much more noticeable shaking from 55-65 miles an hour. Letting off the accelerator seems to assist in this issue. There is an open recall for the transmission of this year vehicle for the transmission pump failing. For some reason our vehicle is not included in this recall. It is available for inspection, and I have contacted a dealer that already informed me the issue is not under the recall, but that the transmission is going bad and will probably no longer function by the end of this year due to the pump failure. I am not sure why our vehicle would have been excluded from this recall as this is a known issue. There are no check engine lights on and we were told by the dealership that the lights would not come on until the transmission failed due to the pump issue not a low fluid or sensor issue. I am going to have a second mechanic look at the vehicle tomorrow and I can provide further information at that point.

The part that failed on the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan was the Active Head Restraint (AHR) on the passenger seat. It suddenly deployed while driving smoothly. The vehicle was going about 15 mph and there was no sudden impacts or movement that would have caused the AHR to deploy. It is available for inspection upon request. The safety of the passenger was put at risk by the potential impact of the headrest unexpectedly hitting their head that could cause physical harm. The deployment also caused a loud noise that acted as a distraction to the driver. The problem has not been reproduced as far as I know. I have seen others on multiple websites reporting the same failure of the AHR. The headrest has not been inspected as of the day of this incident report. There were no warnings or symptoms that would have led me to believe something was potentially wrong with the headrest.

The passenger headrest deployed when traveling down the road without being in a collision. The passenger has hit in the back on head with headrest going down the road. I took the vehicle to my closest dealership and they advise me to call stellantis customer care and report it. I has informed that the X87 warranty extension recently expired. I was told it would have to be an out of pocket expense even though it is a safety risk.

The driver's headrest deployed without collision. The incident occurred at an auto service center and I noticed when the vehicle was returned to me. The mechanic inspected the headrest and stated a part in the headrest broke causing it to deploy. He advised to call the dealer for repair. The incident has been reported to the dealer and I am waiting for a return call. There were no warnings for seat malfunction or symptoms prior to deployment. Headrest is available for inspection. This defect puts the driver at risk for concussion, head and neck injuries that could affect the ability to control the vehicle.

The front passenger headrest deployed for no reason. We had just parked the van and my 13 year old daughter was behind the passenger seat when the headrest deployed and something hit her in the face. We were in no accident nor rear-ended.

The active head restraint deployed on it's own. I was stopped at a light and the headrest slammed into the back of my head. I was alone in the vehicle, and nothing struck the seat or my vehicle. Upon inspection, the plastic clips that hold the metal bar in place have broken. It caused a headache and neck pain, as it jarred me unexpectedly. This affected my safety, and had I been moving at the time it could have caused an accident, putting others at risk as well. I called the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and was quoted over $600 for the part (replacement headrest) and labor, but have not taken it in for them to inspect it. There were no claims filed, so no inspections have occurred. There were no warnings, neither lights or messages, or any other problems with any part of the driver's seat. It just exploded.

My back passenger sliding door buzzes loudly when it unlocks or locks. It just started 3 days ago and I've had the van since early this year. Normal usage, never misused. I take good care of the van.

The lock on the right side sliding door panel does not latch. The door Manually closes but will not lock when pressing the automated lock/unlock buttons from both the driver and passenger sides and the car remote.

I am a paraplegic. I drive an adapted van with hand controls that include a Sure-Grip A600 spinner knob. This is equipment purchased from and installed by my mobility vehicle dealer, and is intended to allow operating the steering wheel with one hand so that the other can operate the throttle and brake, as well as other controls. Today while driving and making a hard turn, the plastic knob pulled off the shaft of the mount, causing me to lose control of the van and have a serious accident. This appears to be a clear case of defective product design as the plastic knob was merely pressed onto the shaft. The shaft and mount for it did not shift or move, but the knob pulled off. There were no features on the shaft to aid in retaining the knob beyond a friction fit.

Went to roll down the window on the drivers side panel and it started to smoke and short circuit. We removed the panel because we believed of could have caught fire. Problem has not been replicated due to dealership service department being closed. There were no warning lamps or messages and had occured randomly when using the panel.

The driver side passenger sliding door lock actuator is frozen, keeping the door perpetually locked. The passenger sliding door actuator will not lock at all, so the passenger sliding door is perpetually unlocked. I've been told by an auto mechanic that the passenger side sliding door is in danger of permanently locking as well. If that's the case, passengers will have to enter by the front doors (or the back hatch, which is too inconvenient). In the case of an accident, I'm concerned that exiting the vehicle will be dangerous for backseat passengers. I understand that there's an extended warranty for the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan lock actuators, but the extended warranty only includes those manufactured after May 1, 2015. My 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan was manufactured February 2015. My family budget is really tight, and the prospect of putting $1500 to $2000 down for repairs to these doors is cost prohibitive. The doors are available for inspection. The vehicle has been inspected by a local auto service center mechanic and the actuators were confirmed as the problem by the service center. There was no warning of failure of the actuators beforehand.

I am inquiring about the failure of my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan Sliding Door Power Lock Actuator. My Drivers Side passenger sliding door recently became stuck, and could not be opened from the outside or inside. This is a massive safety hazard, and could possible result in death or injury. What if there was a fire or an accident and we had to get out. There is a service bulletin 23-036.21 that covers replacing the actuators for this very reason, but my vehicle is not listed. This is a problem. Now with the door in lock position, everytime the automatic or power door lock is used, there is a really loud buzzing sound. My worry is that the door will actually come unlocked, and open on its own as i am driving down the highway, so it is a little unnerving. I want to get this fixed for our safety, but i want to know if this will be covered under the service bulletin 23-036.21, per the NHTSA this seems to be affecting more than just the 2016 RT models, and while i love our vehicle, I am now worried for my families safety.

The transmission on this van and pretty much after replacing it the hydraulic lifters are going out. I started to hear a noise and when the guy did my brakes and rotors he left me know that this is a very common issues with the Dodge vans and I feel like Dodge is making these vehicles unsafe as it can cause the engine to just stop and you can be on the highway and as I have kids in the car sometimes. Hydraulic lifters in all years of the dodge caravan causes major issues please have them fix this and they should have to do a recall on these and fix the lifters because they definitely are doing it on these vans. If people are driving and they don’t hear the noise it can be so unsafe.

The lock on the passenger sliding door has stopped locking the door. When all the other doors are locked the door will still open. The lock also cannot be engaged manually the lock is stuck in the unlocked position. The driver side sliding door has started to make a buzzing sound when the locks are engaged. I think this indicates that the actuator on the driver side door may also be starting to fail.

While the contact's husband was driving 15 MPH, the front passenger's side headrest detached from the base and struck the contact in the back of the head extremely hard. The air bag had not deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a detached headrest air bag. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The contact sustained a neck injury; however, no medical attention was needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

The driver side automatic headrest randomly deployed while we were driving down the highway. Thankfully the driver was leaning forward and did not receive the full force of the blow. It appears the plastic brackets inside are shattered. I called our dealer, their response was basically tough luck. I am trying to find a non-AHD replacement headrest as our teenage son drives this van and unexpected deployment can lead to concussion, cause accidents, etc. If Dodge is aware of the issue, why has no recall been issued?

The front head rests contain a safety device that extends the head rest to support the head during a crash. We were unaware of this feature until the passenger head rest burst over a year ago. That was reported in a seperate incident report. We are still waiting for Dodge to repair the passenger head rest. Within the past couple weeks, the driver head rest burst open, while we were not in the vehicle. We did not notice the head rest was burst until my wife saw it from the side when I was driving it. She normally drives the vehicle.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, NOT RUNNING AND HAD NOT BEEN IN ANY KIND OF COLLISION. WHEN I INSPECTED THE INSIDE OF THE HEADREST, THE PLASTIC BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE METAL PIN WERE COMPROMISED. THE METAL PIN IS STILL IN PLACE, BUT THE PLASTIC PRONGS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD ONTO THE PIN TO KEEP THE HEADREST IN PLACE BOTH FAILED. ONE CRACKED AND IS PARTIALLY ATTACHED. THE OTHER PRONG CAME OFF COMPLETELY. I BELIEVE THE PLASTIC BROKE FROM BEING UNDER PROLONGED TENSION. WHY WOULD SOMETHING THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE A SAFETY FEATURE BE MADE OUT OF SOMETHING AS FLIMSY AS PLASTIC? I'M SO THANKFUL THAT I WASN'T DRIVING WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURIES. THERE ARE MANY OTHER REPORTS OF DODGE CUSTOMERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT (AHR) SYSTEM SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THE HEADREST SHOULD NOT DEPLOY BY ITSELF. UNFORTUNATELY, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, DODGE IS CLAIMING NO RESPONSIBILITY AND THE ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE REPAIR IS AROUND $900, BUT MOST PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD THAT AND DON'T WANT TO PAY IT ANYWAY BECAUSE THE PROBLEM COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. DODGE SHOULD BE REPAIRING THESE HEADRESTS AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMERS.

I heard the sound of metal scraping on metal when I applied the brakes. I took it to Boubin Auto Repair and they said they replaced the rear calipers, rotors and pads. They failed to connect the parking brake cable on the right side. The parking brake cable broke later and I took it to Hubbell's Auto Repair and they replaced the parking brake cables. Years later, I once again heard the scraping sound of metal on metal when applying the brakes. This was about 2.5 years after it first happened. The vehicle has about 67,000 miles on it now. I bought it new in 2015. I took it to Hubbell's Auto Repair again and they said the right rear brakes had a piston blown out of the caliper and no pad left on one side. They replaced the rear calipers with non-Mopar (aftermarket) calipers, replaced the rotors and pads. That cost $863.23. Uneven and inefficient braking resulting from failed rear brakes could result in an accident.

REAR BRAKE CONDITION, 2015 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE (DUAL FRONT PISTON BRAKE VERSION): A TIRE CHANGE AT 85752 MILES AND SLIGHTLY MORE THAN FOUR YEARS OF ROAD USE REVEALED NORMAL FRONT ROTORS WITH 8MM OF BRAKE PAD MATERIAL REMAINING ON THE FRONT PADS BUT AS LITTLE AS LESS THAN 1MM ON THE REARS WITH BOTH REAR ROTORS HEAVILY CORRODED ON THEIR FACE AS WELL AS HAVING SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF MISSING MATERIAL ON THE FACE DUE TO CORROSION AS LARGE AS 1.5' X 1' AND AS DEEP AS 1MM. (THIS CONDITION IS ADDITIONALLY UNUSUAL AS IT IS COMMON FOR THE FRONT BRAKES TO WEAR BEFORE THE REAR BRAKES DUE TO WEIGHT SHIFT UNDER BRAKING REQUIRING THAT THE FRONT BRAKES ENDURE THE BULK OF THE BURDEN OF SLOWING ANY VEHICLE, AS WELL AS BY DESIGN WHERE BRAKE BIAS IS SHIFTED TO THE FRONT TO PREVENT THE REARS FROM LOCKING UNDER BRAKING VIA THE USE OF A PROPORTIONING VALVE; THE CORROSION ON THE ROTOR FACE SEEMS TO BE INDICATIVE OF A LACK OF ADEQUATE REAR PAD CONTACT.) THE LARGE AREA OF MISSING ROTOR MATERIAL CORRESPONDED WITH THE MOST-WORN PAD, PROBABLY DUE TO THE SHARP EDGES OF THE DEPRESSION ACTING TO SLICE, RATHER THAN ABRADE, THE ASSOCIATED PAD. ANECDOTALLY, MECHANICS SPOKEN WITH INDICATED THEY HAVE FREQUENTLY SEEN THIS GENERATION OF DODGE GRAND CARAVANS WITH SIMILAR REAR ROTORS AND PADS. THIS CONDITION IS UNSAFE DUE TO THE APPARENT LACK OF APPLICATION OF THE REAR BRAKES DURING THE BRAKING PROCESS, AS WELL AS BEING POSSIBLY INDICATIVE OF A DEFECT DUE TO PREMATURE AND ABNORMAL WEAR OF A BRAKE COMPONENT, ALONG WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THERE BEING AN ERROR IN THE BASIC VEHICLE BRAKE DESIGN/ENGINEERING AS THIS CONDITION MAY BE DUE TO AN IMPROPERLY SPECIFIED OR INCORRECTLY FUNCTIONING BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE. DUE TO THE SAFETY CRITICAL NATURE OF THIS DISCOVERY, IT MAY BE OF VALUE TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES OF ALL 2008-2020 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS INSPECTED.

THE VAN WAS PULLED IN TO A DRIVEWAY WITH A SLIGHT TILT, PUT IN PARK, WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, IN PARK. THE PRIMARY DRIVER ALMOST ALWAYS USES THE PARKING BRAKE, AND BELIEVES IT WAS ON AT THIS TIME. THE SLIDING DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS OPENED, SOMETHING TAKEN OUT, AND CLOSED. AT THAT POINT IN TIME, THE VAN STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD, TO THE POINT WHERE IT ACTUALLY IMPACTED THE HOUSE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN REPRODUCIBLE. TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY PERFORMED BASIC TESTING, COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT STATE THAT THE CAR IS SAFE AT THIS POINT IN TIME.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY FIRM. INITIALLY, THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE REVERSE GEAR. RECENTLY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON, WHICH SEEMED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THIS VAN HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEST 8 TIMES SINCE NEW. THE THROTTLE RESPONSE IS REALLY BAD. FROM STOP LIGHTS AND IN SLOW MOVING AREAS DRIVING LESS THEN 10MPH IT WILL LOSE ALMOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. IT WILL EITHER BE FULL THROTTLE OR NONE. WHEN PASSING SOMETIMES NOTHING WILL HAPPEN WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. I'VE HAD TIMES IN TOWN THAT IT WILL JUST STICK ON FULL THROTTLE AS WELL. ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT ROLLING BACKWARDS OUT OF CONTROL WHEN IN DRIVE WE HAVE TO ALL WAYS HAVE OUR FOOT ON THE BREAKS. THE VAN ONCE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN IT. While driving down the highway, my vehicle suddenly went to full throttle. Shocked me so that I held the brake pedal down as hard as I could to keep from rear ending the car ahead of me. After several hundred yards, my van dropped back to idle. Checked and found out this had been a problem with Chrysler vehicles in the 2015 -2016 models. My vehicle has 50,000 + miles on it. Checked with Davis-Moore, my dealer, and they know nothing.

I drove over a pot whole that hit the transmission. The transmission was replaced but 3 different times each one contuines to fail. Before the transmission incident. My car would lose power while driving. There was knocking noise from the engine. The transmission shifted slow before as well. But after the transmission being changed out there's been leakes power lost again and more knocking. The car been through insurance already.

While driving the van, the van started making a whining noise. Then it would hesitated to shift gears. Upon accelerating in traffic, the engine would rev up, then the transmission would grab gear sharply. At every stop light the van does not shift forward. It sits there and the engine revs up, but does not shift gears. The van has to be turned off then restarted in order to drive out of first gear. Warning light came on eventually. After scanning at a local auto parts store, the code was P083B. P083B Code: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch “G” Circuit Range / Performance. My family's safety and the safety of others put at risk because we were in traffic at a stop light where we were not able to accelerate and leave the intersection and were in danger of getting rear ended by traffic coming at us once the light was green.

I drove like regular the transmission was starting to delay in response but nothing to this extreme. I parked it after an evening of m working; Once parked the vehicle will shift through all gears but only Park is engaged and stays engaged even while shifting to R, N, D it only stays parked. This is a safety issue as I can not even get it in neutral to tow and get it looked at or anything. I was not expecting it to not engage ever again so my vehicle is on an angle parked and I cannot gear shit it to N to get it moved and out of the road. Also the sway bar seems to be faulty as well. I think that’s suspension but it rocks back and forth really badly actually while taking on bumps or cracks it’s caused concerns enough that I stopped having my 3 children in it now while driving until an investigation is completed.

When called dealer was told was not covered even though I have Mopar coverage. Since it’s so much to fix it out of pocket the safety feature is virtually useless because I can’t have it fixed.

When drive over 60mph I smell burn from front hood. I took to Dodge dealership. They said oil leaking so paid $950 , 3 weeks later car broke down like can't go over 30mph, Aqcell won't go up , I took to dealership again , he said transmission I paid $4600( October) it used transmission. After change transmission drive was uncomfortable, not smoothly like before. I took dealership he said It because differen transmission, so need takes a while to get use to it. (Idk it true or not) And engine light on over 7 times and still burning smell if drive over 60mph. Dealership kepts 3 days but they said car is fine. Im like how heck fine? If I drive 60mph now I can smell burn . Feel very uncomfortable to drive i have 3 kids always with me but can't sell car with this conditions . Any advice appreciate

ON THIS 2015, FLORIDA BASED, DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH 58,640 MILES, THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT DEPLOYED WITH THE CAR PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND NO ONE IN IT. IT COULD NOT BE RESET AS THE THIN PLASTIC BRACKET THAT HELD A METAL RESTRAINING BAR IN PLACE DISINTEGRATED UNDER THE PRESSURE OF THE DEPLOYMENT SPRING AND RELEASED. IN FACT IT APPEARED THAT MULTIPLE PLASTIC PARTS HAD BROKEN. CHECKING THE INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED IN HUNDREDS OF OTHER VEHICLES IN MULTIPLE MODELS AND MODEL YEARS AND DODGE/CHRYSLER HAS MADE NO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR WARN THE OWNERS. THERE ARE ALSO AT LEAST TWO SEPARATE LAW FIRMS PURSUING CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS REGARDING THIS. THERE ALSO APPEAR TO BE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED. THE DODGE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO FIX THIS AND THAT REPLACING EACH HEAD RESTRAINT WOULD COST CLOSE TO $900. THEY ALSO COULD NOT SAY THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD RESTRAINT WOULDN'T ALSO DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY. ONE WONDERS IF THERE HAVEN'T ALREADY BEEN SIGNIFICANT OR EVEN FATAL ACCIDENTS RELATED TO THIS. GETTING HIT BY THE HEADREST WOULD CAUSE INJURY ALONE THIS APPEARS POORLY DESIGNED. THE IDEA OF PUTTING A THIN PLASTIC BRACKET UNDER CONSTANT STRONG SPRING PRESSURE FOR YEARS IS JUST ASKING FOR TROUBLE, ESPECIALLY FOR VEHICLES IN FLORIDA WHERE TEMPERATURES IN PARKED VEHICLES CAN REMAIN WELL OVER 120 ALL DAY. HOW CAN THIN PLASTIC BE EXPECTED TO TAKE THIS FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE? THESE PARTS SHOULD BE METAL. I PUSHED THE DEPLOYED HEADREST BACK TOGETHER AND SECURED IT WITH TWO CABLE ZIP TIES. AS DODGE CAN'T TELL ME IF THE OTHER HEADREST WON'T ALSO DEPLOY, I HAVE ALSO SECURED IT WITH CABLE ZIP TIES TO GUARD AGAINST ITS UNEXPECTED DEPLOYMENT. WHERE IS THE NHTSA IN ALL THIS? THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS PRIOR TO OR DURING THIS TIME FRAME. MY HUSBAND AND I HAD DRIVEN OUR 2015 DODGE CARAVAN ON SUNDAY. I WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I AM 8 MONTHS PREGNANT. ON MONDAY, WE DID NOT DRIVE THE VAN. ON TUESDAY AROUND 12 NOON, WITH THE CAR STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST HAD BASICALLY EXPLODED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD BOUGHT THE VAN (A CHEVY DEALERSHIP THAT HAD RECEIVED IT IN A TRADE-IN). THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING AND TOLD ME TO BRING IN THE VAN IMMEDIATELY. THAT AFTERNOON, I (RELUCTANTLY) DROVE THE VAN THE 25 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP, LEANING FORWARD AS FAR AS I COULD IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN CASE IT WERE TO DEPLOY. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME TODAY, WEDNESDAY 5/29, TO INFORM ME THAT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT, AND WOULD CHARGE NEARLY $900 TO COVER THE NEW HEADREST. CHEVY GENEROUSLY OFFERED TO COVER HALF THE COST SINCE I AM A REPEAT CUSTOMER, AND THEY SAW THIS AS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. I DECLINED, NOT WANTING TO SPEND OVER $400 TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART WITH ANOTHER PART, ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS WOULD NOT EASE MY WORRIES ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I PLAN TO ZIP TIE THE HEADRESTS WITH MULTIPLE ZIP TIES. THERE'S NO OTHER SOLUTION AT THIS TIME. EVEN IF I WERE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE BROKEN PASSENGER HEADREST, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE AT THIS POINT THAT EITHER HEADREST IS SAFE AND WILL FUNCTION AS INTENDED. I WOULD NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH ONE OF THESE HEADRESTS EVER AGAIN. I WOULD TRADE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT I AM WORRIED THIS WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL HARM SINCE I ONLY JUST ACQUIRED THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2018. AFTER READING OTHER TIRE REVIEWS IT APPEARS THERE ARE MANY SAFETY AND WEAR ISSUES WITH THIS TIRE BRAND. IN MY RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT IMPACTS FROM 8 TO 18 MPH SHOULD CAUSE THESE SIDE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING FOR MYSELF AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS WITH THESE TYPES OF VEHICLES. CHRYSLER HAD AN "INDEPENDENT" INVESTIGATOR INSPECT THE VAN BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. I WAS NOT ASKED TO BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE INSPECTION OR GIVEN A COPY OF THE REPORT. I WILL BE ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT THE "INDEPENDENT" INVESTIGATOR FOR A COPY OF THE REPORT BUT DON'T FEEL THAT I WILL HAVE MUCH LUCK. THERE WERE FOUR CHILDREN IN THE VAN ALONG WITH MY SPOUSE WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AND THANKFULLY NO CRITICAL INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE AIR BAGS WERE SUPPOSED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT AT.
