My cars ABS, traction control, emergency break lights came on and I went to look up what was wrong and other 2012 dodge journeys have a recall on the problem that is wrong with my car (R61). I only have 1 recall on my specific car. So now I have to pay to replace the part.

The ABS module has failed and no replacement parts are available. The vehicle cannot get passed inspection from the state of Texas because this module failure. No service facility can't get them part needed to repair brakes.

The ABS light was on in the car. Took to a repair shop and they replaced the ABS Module. Said it fell under R61. But then my re-imbursment was declined because they said my vin did not have the problem. But putting in a new ABS module and reprogramming fixed the issue. How do I get refunded for the failure of a break system that should never have happened? Please call me 979.216.8043

This complaint concerns the failure of the front rubber brake lines on my 2012 Dodge Journey. I discovered that, during manufacture, the original brake lines were severely crushed while the retaining brackets were attached to them. This reduced the I.D. of the hoses to about 20% of their intended size. Over time, with normal hose deterioration, this restricted back flow of brake fluid to the master cylinder. As a result the brakes calipers did not retract completely which caused excessive overheating of the front brakes. This could have caused a fire or the vehicle to swerve into other traffic. My concern is other vehicles of similar age could begin experiencing the same issue. Please note the front left brake was malfunction before and after new rotors, pads and calipers were installed.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the brakes locked up. The brakes, traction control, and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

March 10th 2023 . Driver side door panel Caught on fire. The panel has was replaced by National Auto Sales 3 times. It renders me (the owner) of 2012 dodge journey not to able to open the driver side door & all the windows. I think this is very dangerous & a safety issue.

Anti lock system engage comes on while driving , causing vehicle to shut down was informed by dealership ( where diagnostic was done )to take vehicle to manufacturer this has been ongoing issue for months. I have paid money on serveral tow bills (stuck on roads )and numerous out of pocket expenses. I am paying car notes but “ walk “ or pay for alternative transportation for safety for “ myself “ and children

Total loss of power while driving. Clock resets to noon. Gas Guage shows over filled once vehicle gets put in park and gets turned back on. No codes on the dash. Touchscreen normally red. Turns to blue for duration of vehicle trip. Then back to red next trips. Can't be duplicated by mechanic. Wierd fuel odor coming from vehicle. Steering locks up after total loss of power. No problems with not starting so far. But driving with 3 yr old on busy streets is dangerous now

THE RADIO/THERMOSTAT WINDOW POWER LOCKS AND USB SLOWLY STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. NOW THE SCREEN TO THE RADIO AND THERMOSTAT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE WIRING HARNESSES LOCATED AT THE REAR HATCH WHICH HAS NO VISIBLE OUTSIDE DAMAGE, YES ALL THE WIRING INSIDE IS PINCHED AND EXPOSED. THE ONLY WAY WE DISCOVERED IT WAS BECAUSE THE BACK WIPER BLADE WENT OUT.

On vehicles with the 3.6l Pentastar engine, the oil pump fails before 150,000 miles causing DTC P06DD to trip which instantly puts the vehicle into "Limp Mode". This immediately cuts down the power to the engine which slows everything down potentially causing you to be hit by other traffic. It also causes a hefty repair bill. This is a very common issue known to the repair shops and dealers. My family has a 2012 Dodge Journey with this engine. A local and well known mechanic shop performed extensive diagnostics and confirmed this issue. The repair took hours to complete. The repair shop did replace other parts that could potentially cause this problem, however, it did not resolve the issue. There were/are no warning signs; simply the engine light comes on and the vehicle goes straight into limp mode with immediate decline in power.

PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE HAD NO HEAT JUST COOL AIR COMING OUT OF VENTS. DRIVERS SIDE HAD HEAT COMING OUT OF VENTS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT FACILITY TO HAVE COOLING SYSTEM AND HEATER CORE FLUSHED. WAS TOLD BY INDEPENDENT SHOP IF PROBLEM COMES BACK TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND HAVE HEATER CORE REPLACED. AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS PROBLEM CAME BACK. TOOK TO DEALER AND FOUND SAME PROBLEM, A CLOGGED HEATER CORE. THEY REACED HEATER CORE IN DECEMBER OF 2018, ALL WAS GOOD TILL NOVEMBER OF 2019. NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. TOOK BACK TO DEALER AND THEY FLUSHED HEATER CORE. DECEMBER OF 2019 ONCE AGAIN NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. THEY REFLUSHED HEATER CORE AND TOLD US IF PROBLEM COMES BACK TO HAVE RADIATOR REPLACED AND COOLING SYSTEM FLUSHED. THIS IS TURNING INTO A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM DUE TO THE WINDOW KEEP FOGGING UP IN MY WIFES CAR MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR HER TO SEE CLEARLY AND SAFELY WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE SPENT MORE THAN $2000.00 IN REPAIRS AND NOW THEY WANT $700.00+ AND SAID THERE IS NO GUARANTEE IT WILL WORK.

Over the last 2 years I have been to the dealership and numerous other mechanics in an attempt to diagnose the problem. Here is the problem..... if the vehicle is not started daily the battery is drained and the vehicle does not start. I have had an occurrence of the vehicle not starting after a few hours. I have replaced the battery 3 times in the past 2 years and had the dealership tell me they could not find a problem. There are plenty of complaints online about this same issue and after calling dodge itself have received no valid info other than to report here. Here is one website with a lot of complaints just to start. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t36017_ds846706 This issue should have been recalled and fixed a long time ago evidently. There are currently under 150000 miles on my vehicle. One of the people reported that the dealership told them to use a trickle charger on a new car..... this is a unacceptable resolution. I will be posting this website for others to contact you in hopes that it is realized this is a true recall issue.

6 WEEKS AGO THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT APPEARED IN MY CAR. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (LAFONTAINE IN LANSING, MI) AND THEY TOOK A LOOK AT IT. THEY DISCOVERED THE WIRING BETWEEN THE SENSOR AND THE AIRBAG HAD CORRODED. IN SEPTEMBER 26, 2017, OUR CAR'S HEATER CORE EXPLODED ON US AFTER BEING INSTALLED IMPROPERLY EARLIER IN 2017 BY WYSUP CHRYSLER IN PULLMAN, WASHINGTON. IT POURED BOILING HOT WATER AND ANTIFREEZE ON MY HUSBAND WHILE HE WAS DRIVING THE CAR. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CORRODED WIRING, BUT DODGE REFUSES TO FIX IT. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER A MONTH NOW AS WE SIT AND WAIT TO SEE IF DODGE CORPORATE, THE BBB, OR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE OF WASHINGTON STATE WILL HELP US. THE COST TO FIX OUR AIRBAG SENSOR IS $1500.

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the RPM quickly increased but the vehicle was only able to reach a maximum speed of approximately 10 MPH, prompting the contact to pull to the shoulder of the roadway where the failure persisted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission and observed metal shavings inside the transmission casing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 124,000.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I SMELT A BURNING OIL LIKE SMELL WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. NOTHING ON THE DASH INDICATED ANY ISSUES. WE ARRIVED HOME AND NOTICED IT WAS OUR CAR THAT THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM. I PARKED THE CAR AND CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND NOTICED A SMALL WET SPOT UNDER MY CAR, THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT AND LEFT FOR WORK. AFTER WORKING ALL DAY I CAME OUT TO FIND ANOTHER SMALL WET SPOT AND ON THE DRIVE HOME THE SAME SMELL. MENTIONED IT TO MY HUSBAND WHO GLANCED UNDERNEATH BUT COULDN'T SEE WHERE THE MOISTURE WAS COMING FROM. DROVE MY CAR TO WORK THE NEXT DAY AND IT STARTED MAKING A LOW GROWLING NOISE. ARRIVED AT WORK AND HAD A MOBIL MECHANIC STOP AND INSPECT THE CAR WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED I HAD A CRACK IN THE TRANSFER CASE. PARKED THE CAR FOR ALMOST A YEAR WHILE I SAVED THE MONEY FOR THE NEW TRANSMISSION I WAS TOLD I NEEDED. FAULTY ABS MODULE DUE TO WATER LEAK, RECALLED ON VERY MANY 2012 DODGE JOURNEYS. FOR SOME REASON, NOT RECALLED ON MINE. NOTICED BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON, I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE BY MY OWN MECHANIC AND CONFIRMED OVER THE PHONE WITH THE DODGE DEALERSHIP THAT I WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. AFTER DROPPING MY CAR OFF AND THE MECHANICS THERE NOT FIXING THE ISSUE, I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN ACTUALLY WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. SO MY ABS MODULE IS FAULTY FOR NO OBVIOUS OR APPARENT REASON. I RARELY DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS, I NEVER GOT INTO ANY ACCIDENTS, THE 3 NOTIFICATION LIGHTS AS NOTED ABOVE JUST CAME ON ONE DAY WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON.

The contact sustained pain from the neck down to the shoulder but did not receive medical assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was related to an unknown extended warranty coverage that had expired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

The battery and traction control lights went on. A smell like nail polish remover followed by white smoke came from under the hood. After pulling over, the hood was opened and white smoke came from the passenger side, not the drivers side where the batter is located. After cooling down for about 45 minutes, the car had now power. The fob, power locks, lights, everything was dead. Unknown cause, need to have the car towed for an estimate and cause.

I WAS DRIVING MY SUV AND WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK STALLED AND I COULD NOT TURN IT OFF FOR SEVERAL MEANS. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND MY PUSH START BUTTON WOULD NOT LET ME TURN IT OFF TO RESTART. AFTER 10 MINS IT LET ME RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG . THE FIRST SHOP TOLD ME THAT MY OIL WAS MIXING WITH MY COOLANT AND VISA VERSA . I THEN TOOK IT TO THE MAIN SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THEY SAY IT'S NOTHING WRONG. I JUST DROP MY KIDS OFF MOMS BEFORE THIS HAPPEN AND I JUST GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE, THE POSSIBILITY OF IT CUTTING OFF WHILE MY KIDS ARE IN THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS.

THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO GOOD YEAR, THEY CLEAN THE RACK AND PINION WITH DEGREASER FROM ALL THE OIL LEAKING.. THE TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT FOR A COUPLE DAY AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.. IT DROVE NORMAL FOR A WEEK, JULY 4 2020 WHILE OUT IN ABOUT, IT STARTED SMOKING AND SQUEAKING.. I PULLED OVER AND HAS IT TOLD TO A GARAGE.. I'M THINKING IT MAY BE THE SERPENTINE BELT.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTER 2015-2016 I HAD TO REPLACE MY RADIATOR DUE TO A SMALL CRACK THAT DEVELOPED. MY HEAT STARTED TO MALFUNCTION THE FOLLOWING WINTER 2016-2017 IT ONLY WORKED PART OF THE TIME. STARTING IN THE FALL OF 2017 MY HEAT WENT OUT COMPLETELY. WE TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE HEATER CORE, COME TO FIND OUT THAT SINCE THE HEATER CORE IS INSTALLED AT AN ANGLE IT DOESN'T DRAIN THE SLUDGE PROPERLY. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT MY AIR CONDITIONING WILL TURN ON AT RANDOM. I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THIS STARTED, BUT IT WILL TURN ON BY ITSELF. ON NOVEMBER 11,2015, WE WERE TRAVELING FROM HOME TO A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT FOR A SURGICAL PROCEDURE. WE WERE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 65, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, GOING AROUND 70 MPH WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED, ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON, AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. WE WERE IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ABLE TO COAST OFF THE HIGHWAY AND AVOID BEING HIT. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD IT. THEY WERE ABLE TO CRANK THE VEHICLE AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS WE PUSHED THEM TO CHECK FURTHER AND THEY THEN SAID THERE WERE A COUPLE OF SENSORS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR & CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR). WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THOSE. THE VEHICLE IS A FAMILY VEHICLE THAT IS USED REGULARLY TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. THERE IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN WITH A VEHICLE THAT WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER, WITH NO WARNING, AND COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. DODGE SHOULD RECALL UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED.

As I was braking to enter the on-ramp of Hwy 1923 from Asheville, I noticed for the second time, my brakes were not slowing me down as usual, instead, they acted as if they were slowly grabbing. As I speed up to the correct speed limit, It seemed as though my brakes started to grab again without me depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle made a throbbing, and vibrating sound. All this after just having taken the vehicle to my mechanic for the same problem two days prior. The back brakes were replaced, the front brakes looked fine, and everything was checked out. Two days later brakes started acting up again, not working normally and acting as if thay are grabbing and vibrating the vehicle! No warning lights were shown. Next step is the Dodge Dealer. Another very aggravating glitch that the Dodge Dealer said that didn see, is the fact that every time I park the vehicle, I have to turn the sterring wheel a certain way before the battery will shut off, if not the battery will be drained!

Electrical - the vehicle while driving just shut off. No power, no lights, the engine died. The vehicle was brought to a stop, placed in park and then restarted without issue. The ABS system - the brakes failed to work. While at a stop light, brakes depressed, the vehicle began rolling backwards.

So I the wiring harness in the hatch needed replaced. So we replaced it and a year later the interior light would come on randomly, then my rear wiper stopped working, all my rear light are messed up sometimes they work sometimes they don't. And not the computer says don't ajar so I can't lock my 2012 journey and the alarm goes of randomly... I'm afraid it's gonna catch fire like I have been reading online.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY TWO KIDS WHEN I HAD TURNED MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ON THEN OFF AGAIN AS CARS WERE COMING WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON. THEY WILL NOT TURN OFF, THE HIGH BEAMS WON'T TURN ON AND MY BLINKERS DO NOT WORK AS WELL. EVERYTIME I START THE VEHICLE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF AGAIN. EVERYTHING IN THE SWITCH THAT CONTROLS ALL OF THESE FEATURES IS USELESS AND A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY WE WERE NOT HIT TURNING OFF THE HIGHWAY HEADED HOME.

THIS ISSUE OCCURRED REGARDLESS IF THE CAR WAS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. IT ALSO OCCURRED IF THE MOTOR WAS TURNED ON OR NOT. THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT WAS OUT, BUT IT WAS NOT A BULB ISSUE. THE CENTER REAR BRAKE LIGHT (ON THE TAILGATE) WAS OUT, BUT IT WAS NOT A BULB ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE TAILGATE WIPER WOULD NOT RETURN TO THE HOME POSITION WHEN TURNED OFF. IT WOULD REMAIN WHEREVER IT WAS WHEN THE SWITCH WAS TURNED OFF. THIS WAS A VISIBILITY ISSUE. THE KEY-LESS ENTRY FOB WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE CAR DOORS. THIS WAS NOT A FOB BATTERY ISSUE. THIS WAS VERY PROBLEMATIC FOR PASSENGER DOORS WHICH COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CAR. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. THEY DIAGNOSED THE CAR WITH HAVING SPLIT WIRES IN THE LIFT GATE. I AM CONCERNED THAT SPLIT WIRES COULD HAVE CAUSED A SHORT AND EVENTUALLY A FIRE. ADDITIONALLY, A SHORT COULD HAVE CAUSED OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OF THE CAR TO FAIL WHILE IN MOTION.

WHEN OPENING THE BACK HATCH, ALL THE DOORS WILL RANDOMLY LOCK OR UNLOCK. THE HATCH LIGHT DOES NOT WORK. THE REAR WINDOW, BACK HATCH, WIPER CLEANER WILL NOT WORK. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE BACK HATCH. ALL THE WIRES HAVE BEEN CUT JUST FROM REGULAR OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE HATCH DUE TO THE FACT WHERE IT IS LOCATED AND THAT WHEN THE HATCH IS CLOSED IT BENDS ALL THAT WIRING IN HALF. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICTURE AT LEAST 5 ARE COMPLETELY BROKEN AND MANY MORE ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY CUT.

THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAT STOPPED BLOWING WARM AND BECAME ONLY COLD AIR. FOUND OUT BY HAVING HEATER CORE REPLACED THAT ITS BECAUSE OF CASTING SAND LEFT OVER ON ENGINE BLOCK AND THE ANGLE OF HEATER CORE CAUSES IT TO BUILDUP AND PREVENT THE HEAT FROM THE CORE INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE. NEW HEATER CORE ALREADY CLOGGED NO HEAT ON EITHER SIDE. WHEN THEY REPLACED IT WAS DODGE DEALER AND THEY FLUSHED EVERYTHING THEY SAID.

GOING UPHILL ON A BRIDGE THAT I TRAVEL 2X A DAY FOR 365/YEAR, IT DECIDED TO CUT OFF WHILE GOING UP THE BRIDGE, I WENT FROM 52 MPH TO 0 MPH AND COASTED TO THE FOOT OF THE BRIDGE, IT WOULD SPUTTER WHEN TRYING TO TURN ON AND THEN AFTER 20 - 30 MINS, IT TURNED ON AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED AND I DROVE HOME. THE NEXT DAY TRIED TO DRIVE OVER THE BRIDGE AND IT DID THE SAME THING GOING UP HILL. IT JUST STOPPED. MECHANIC SAYS I HAD 2 BAD CAMSHAFT SENSORS AND 1 BAD CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. THE CAR STILL HICCUPS AND SHUTTERS AND ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF AGAIN AS I GO UPHILL WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON. I REALLY BELIEVE IN MY HEART THE AIR CONDITIONING IS DRAINING THE POWER AND SOMEHOW CAUSING ADVERSE AFFECTS ELSEWHERE, I JUST DONT KNOW HOW I CAN PROVE THE CORRELATION. IN COLD WEATHER (30 DEGREE AND LOWER) THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED AFTER BEING OPENED. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. I FOUND A YOUTUBE FIX BY PULLING THE CAR HANDLE UP AND USING A SCREWDRIVER TO PUSH THE LATCH EITHER UP OR DOWN THEN CLOSING THE DOOR. I WAS USING THE SCISSOR JACK PROVIDED WITH THE VEHICLE TO REMOVE A FLAT LEFT FRONT TIRE WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE. THE FLOOR WAS FLAT AND COMPLETELY DRY AND FREE OF ANY OILY CONDITIONS. THE SHIFT LEVER WAS IN PARK, THE BRAKE SET.I POSITIONED THE JACK AS OUTLINED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. I THEN BROKE THE 5 LUG NUTS LOOSE PRIOR TO RAISING THE VEHICLE. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT USING THE JACK AS IT SEEMED TO BE STRAINING TO RAISE THE SUV. I FINALLY GOT IT RAISED TO A LEVEL TO CLEAR THE TIRE FROM THE FLOOR SURFACE. I REMOVED THE TIRE AND JUST AS I DID THIS THE JACK COLLAPSED AND THE VEHICLE DROPPED. THE FENDER WELL JUST BARELY MISSED CRUSHING MY HAND. I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE CONDITION AFTER IT FELL. I REMOVED THE JACK AND THE FRAME WAS TWISTED AND THE LIFTING SCREW WAS BENT. THE JACK DOES NOT HAVE ANY LOAD RATING OR CERTIFICATION MARKINGS. ALL IT SAYS IS 'MADE IN MEXICO' THE FOOT PRINT PAD IT SETS ON LOOKS TOO SMALL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SUPPORT. I BROUGHT THE INCIDENT UP TO CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVES AND THEY JUST MADE WHAT SEEMED TO BE ARBITRARY REMARKS THE ' I MUST HAVE DONE SOME THING WRONG' IN THE PROCESS.MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID I WILL HAVE TO PAY A $500.00 DEDUCTIBLE. Component/System That Failed or Malfunctioned & Availability for Inspection I have experienced multiple safety-critical failures in my 2012 Dodge Journey, including transmission failure, catalytic converter defects, engine repairs, electrical malfunctions, and brake system issues. Pattern of Recalls Across Dodge Journey Models & Lack of Recall for My Vehicle There have been numerous recalls across multiple model years (2009-2020) for the exact same failures my vehicle is experiencing, including: Transmission failures and defects Engine problems requiring major repairs Catalytic converter and exhaust failures Brake system failures and premature caliper wear Electrical malfunctions affecting windows, wiring, and power systems Despite this clear pattern of defects in Dodge Journey models, my specific vehicle has not been recalled for these issues. Dodge/Stellantis needs to explain why these defects are not being covered under existing recalls when the same problems have been recognized in other model years. How My Safety & Others’ Safety Was Put at Risk 1. Transmission Failure & Unsafe Driving Conditions My transmission failed completely, causing high RPM revving, and loss of acceleration. My vehicle essentially stalled out on the highway. Now, the transmission requires a full rebuild costing over $5,238.64. Dodge has issued recalls for transmission defects in other Journey model years, but mine is excluded despite experiencing identical failures. 2. THE 2012 JOURNEY WAS BEING USED TO JUMPSTART A 1997 F 350 FORD TRUCK. THE F 350 WAS NOT RUNNING WHILE THE JOURNEY WAS. JUMPER CABLES WERE ATTACHED CORRECTLY. THE WOMEN JUMPING THE CAR WENT INTO THE HOUSE FOR A MOMENT WHEN SHE HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND THE ROAR OF THE FIRE. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE WINDSHIELD WAS BLOW OUT AND FLAMES REACHED 12 FEET INTO THE AIR. AFTER THE FIRE TRUCK PUT OUT THE BLAZE, THE HOOD HAD VAPORIZED . THE CAR WAS REPORTED AS A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER ALWAYS SAYS EVERYTHING IS FINE WHEN I TAKE IT IN, BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN IT IS IN THE SHOP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO ATLANTIC CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (555 SUNRISE HWY, WEST ISLIP, NY 11795, 631-422-0123) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE CYLINDER HEAD. THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CYLINDER HEAD; HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A WIRE SHORTAGE FROM THE PCM TO THE MAP SENSOR. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A COST ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WIRING WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT VEHICLE STUTTERS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. WHILE WAITING AT LIGHT THE VEHICLE ENGINE DIED. THIS CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. NO WARNING LIGHTS NO WARNING. EXCEPT TRANSMISSION STUTTER. CALLED DEALER ABOUT ISSUE, THEY TOLD US IF THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE ISSUE NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX. SO I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY ASKED US WHAT WE WANTED THEM TO DO? I TOLD THEM I WANTED THIS CAR FIXED. SO THEY RECOMMEND OF COURSE BRING IT TO DEALER. AND WE DECIDE TO BRING BACK TO DEALER. THIS VEHICLE HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE TAILGATE IS OPENED. THE RADIO AND CLIMATE CONTROL COME ON BY THEMSELVES EVEN AFTER TURNING IT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. THE STEERING MAKES A WHINING NOISE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TURNING TO THE LEFT. THE AWD AND TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF AND THE SERVICE AWD LIGHT COMES ON. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD "THUMP" IN THE REAR END AND ALL THE TRACTION AND AWD DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE EVIDENT AND OCCUR WHILE DRIVING.

MYSELF AND MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE DRIVING DOWN A PRETTY DARK HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 10 PM. 3 HOURS FROM HOME. IN A STORM AND VERY HEAVY RAIN. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. WHEN I GAVE IT GAS THE ENGINE JUST REVVED. LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND POWER STEERING I QUICKLY DROPPED FROM 75 TO 40 WITH SEMIS BARRELING UP BEHIND ME AS I WAS TRYING TO GET TO A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON. CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. WE WERE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR 5 HOURS WITH NO HEAT AND NO POWER TO THE CAR. EVEN CALLLED ROADSIDE AND THEY TRIED TO JUMP IT. IT WOULD START BUT THEN GO HAYWIRE AGAIN. BATTERY LIGHT AND ETC AS WELL AS ALL OTHERS LIGHTS COME ON. IT HAS LEFT ME AND MY KIDS IN THE COLD MORE THAN ONCE. FOUND ONLINE BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL: IN AFFECTED CARS, FCA WILL REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND UPDATE SOFTWARE FOR THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE ' THAT IS, YOUR CAR'S PRIMARY DRIVETRAIN COMPUTER. FCA WILL RECYCLE THE OLD CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO REMOVE THE PRECIOUS METALS COMMON IN SUCH DEVICES, A USUAL PRACTICE. 'OBVIOUSLY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THAT'S THE BIGGEST PART OF THIS,' CHERNOBY SAID. THE REPLACEMENT CONVERTER HAS A 'DIFFERENT MIXTURE OF PRECIOUS METALS ' TO BE LESS SUSCEPTIBLE TO SULFUR IN THE FUEL,' HE ADDED. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF REPLACEMENT CATALYTIC CONVERTERS NEEDED, THE AUTOMAKER IS RECALLING CARS IN WAVES. ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) CONTROL MODULE. THERE'S WAS A RECALL FOR OUR 2012 DODGE JOURNEY WHICH THE PREVIOUS OWNERS TOOK CARE OF IN OCT 2015 (THE MONTH AND YEAR OF RECALL). WE PURCHASED IN 2017. A FEW TIME THE ABS LIGHT HAS COME ON BUT ONLY FOR A MINUTE OR 2 SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. TODAY 8/2/2019 IT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT AND (NO TRACTION LIGHT (THE SWIVELING CAR IMAGE LIGHT). WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF HEAVY RAIN. WE WHERE TOLD BY SERVICING STATION BY DIAGNOSTIC TEST IT WAS THE ABS CONTROL MODULE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. AND IF WE DID NOT GET FIXED OUR BRAKES COULD LOCK UP AND SYSTEM FREEZE UP. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WAS CORRECTED IN PAST BUT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN. WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTING FOR 30 MINUTES AND I WAS LEAVING TO DRIVE TO SERVICE STATION THE BREAK PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH DOWN ( BREAK NEEDS TO BE PRESSED WITH TOUCH BUTTON START). I ALMOST COULDN'T START CAR. THE BREAK FINALLY SOFTENED AND I WAS ABLE TO PRESS DOWN TO START CAR. AT THAT POINT THE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON FOR 5 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING BUT SADLY IT DID COME BACK. I CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND HAVE EVERYTHING SET UP FOR A 30 MINUTE FIX AND AS SOON AS THE CAR GETS THERE IT'S WELL WE WILL NEED TO KEEP IT FOR 48 HOURS BEFORE WE CAN WORK ON IT. MY OTHER VEHICLE IS A TAKATA RECALL AND IT'S BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR OVER A YEAR TO CAME IN.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST TWO OR THREE MONTHS, MY VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER, AND AT SAME TIME THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND BRAKES HAVE TO PUSHED EXTRA HARD TO GET THEM TO WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING UNDER 40 MPH IN TOWN. IT HAS HAPPENED MOST OFTEN WITHIN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF STARTING THE CAR, BUT TODAY IT HAPPENED AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING 30 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN IN TOWN FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN SLOWING DOWN, WHEN ACCELERATING, OR WHEN GOING STABLE SPEED, AS WELL AS BEFORE A TURN, AFTER A TURN, OR WHILE GOING STRAIGHT. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND STOP, PUT CAR IN PARK, AND RESTART IT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL CAR REPAIR SHOP TWICE, AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AFTER HOOKING IT TO THEIR COMPUTER. THE CAR HAS 87,756 MILES ON IT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS UNSAFE, AND I'M WORRIED IT COULD HAPPEN AT A DANGEROUS INTERSECTION OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

IF UNDER 40 THE STEERING LOCKS UP, ALL ELECTRICAL SHUTS DOWN AND I CANNOT GET HAZARD LIGHTS OR PULL OVER. I CAN THROW IT INTO NEUTRAL AND HIT THE PUSH-TO-START AND IT RESTARTS. SOMETIMES, LIKE AT STOPLIGHTS, I HAVE HAD TO THROW IT INTO PARK THEN RESTART IT. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW INSTANCES OF IT NOT RESTARTING NO MATTER WHAT WE TRY. THROUGH TRIAL AND ERROR WE GOT IT TO START AGAIN AFTER SERIOUS ROCKING. I HAVE NOTICED IT HAPPENS MORE IF THE USB PORT OR AUX PORT ARE BEING USED, ALTHOUGH IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES WITHOUT THOSE BEING TOUCHED. HAS ONLY BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE MAJORITY OF THE FUNCTIONS WITH MY ON-BOARD ENTERTAINMENT UNIT WENT OUT. DEALERSHIP CAN NOT DIAGNOSE, SAY THEY CANNOT GET THE PROBLEM TO DUPLICATE. I PURCHASED A USED 2012 DODGE JOURNEY IN SEPTEMBER 2015 FROM LAKESHORE CHRYSLER DODGE AND JEEP OF SLIDELL, LOUISIANA. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE DRIVING OFF THE LOT. FOUND OUT AFTER PURCHASE THAT THE CAR WAS NOT INSPECTED PRIOR TO DEALERSHIP RESELLING IT. BEFORE I EVEN GOT HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED ISSUES. THEY DID THE OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTED THE CAR AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE IT WAS "NORMAL NOISES" HOWEVER AFTER COMPLAINING AND COMPLAINING THE WERE ABLE TO LOCATE AND FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTING NOISES AND JOLTING. WE ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THE "NORMAL NOISE" OF THREE CLICKS WHEN THE ENGINE TURNS OFF. WE HAVE NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER ISSUES. THE AIR, RADIO, TOUCH SCREEN, LIGHTS, ALL GOT OFF RANDOMLY. THE SYSTEM WILL NOT RESPOND EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. IT WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. WE HAVE ISSUES WHERE THE CAR ACCELERATES FASTER ON ITS OWN HAVE TO BREAK WHILE CAR STILL TRIES TO ACCELERATE. WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE THE PURCHASE AND THEY "CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE" SO THEY CAN NOT FIX IT. I HAVE PROVIDED NUMEROUS VIDEOS SHOWING AND PROVING THE ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER ISSUES WE ARE HAVING. DODGE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE SITUATION. EVERYTHING IS AT OUR EXPENSE. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TRAVELING UP OUR HILL ON FROM OUR HOUSE. IT IS VERY STEEP, LIKE CRESTING THE TOP OF A ROLLERCOASTER. ONCE WE WERE AT THE TOP COMING OVER THE TOP OUR BRAKES GAVE OUT. My car is a Dodge Journey with a 4 cylinder engine, factory steel wheels and bolt-on wheel covers. The factory wheel nuts are collapsing in diameter as a result of contact with impact wrenches. Recently I had a flat tire and in efforts to remove the wheel, because the wheel nuts had collapsed in diameter, special tools were needed to remove them. Had the flat tire occurred on the highway, it would not have been possible to remove the wheel and install the spare tire, posing a severe safety problem. I have replaced the factory wheel nuts on the wheel where the flat tire occurred and expect to do so on the other wheels

The car shifts super hard into second gear. The inside smells like the car is over heating,driving down the interstate the car losses power,you can push your foot to the floor and nothing,the car will not excelerate at all.It's extremely dangerous. You have to pull over turn the car off and then on again to get it to go. This happens about every 20 minutes or so,the heat only works in the driver vent and the smell gives you a headache and makes you sick to your stomach. The vehicle is not safe at all. The catalytic converter gives gas off into the cabin.

The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was purchased to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the head gasket and throttle body had failed. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and it was determined that the throttle body had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer towed the vehicle to an unknown authorized Dodge dealer who repaired the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (KEN GARFF WEST VALLEY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM FIAT, 4175 W 3500 S, WEST VALLEY CITY, UT 84120, 801-955-7448) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT BUBBLES WERE FOUND WITHIN THE COOLING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE SYMPTOMS RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.

A RECALL WAS SUBMITTED ON JULY 28, 2015. I LOOKED ONLINE TODAY. I HAVE BEEN SMELLING A SMOKE SMELL, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL AUGUST 15, 2015 STATING THE ENGINE BEAUTY COVER ON MY VEHICLE MAY DETACH FROM THE ENGINE AND COME IN CONTACT WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND START A FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE PART TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS NOT AVAILABLE AND I WILL BE CONTACTED AT ANOTHER TIME WHEN A REPAIR PART IS AVAILABLE. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY SMALL CHILDREN AND MYSELF. WOW!!!!!!!!!! IS ALL I CAN SAY, I CAN'T BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF PROBLEMS THIS CAR HAS. WITH THAT BEING SAID I'M HOPING THAT SINCE I FINANCED THIS VEHICLE, THAT THE FINANCE COMPANY WILL HELP ME BECAUSE THIS DEALERSHIP "CLEARLY" SOLD ME A LEMON AND I'M SURE THEY KNOW IT IS. EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL IN MY 2012 JOURNEY STARTED SURGING TO THE POINT WHERE I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING DIE ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY HERE ON VANCOUVER ISLAND B.C. CANADA. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START ( SOMETIMES 4 ATTEMPTS TO START IT ARE NEEDED ) . WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON A BUSY ROAD IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND DIED WHILE DRIVING IT, HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FUSE HAD BLOWN, THE CAR IS ONLY 1YR OLD. THE CAR DOES COME BACK ON A FEW SECONDS LATER OR SEVERAL MINUTES LATER. THE LONGEST TIME PERIOD WAS WHEN I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO A SHOP SATURDAY. ONCE, WE ARRIVED AT THE SHOP IT HAD COME BACK ON. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME AND I FEAR EVEN AFTER WE GET IT FROM THE SHOP IT WILL NOT BE THE LAST.

HAVE HAD MY DODGE PURCHASED NEW FOR A LITTLE LESS THAN ONE YEAR. AT AROUND 20,000 MILES I NOTICED THE TIRES SEEMED TO BE WEARING EXCESSIVELY WHICH I THOUGHT WAS STRANGE WITH NEW TIRES. I REQUESTED AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE TO HAVE THEM ROTATED TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. NEVER PAID IT MUCH MORE ATTENTION UNTIL MY TRACTION LIGHT KEPT COMING ON WHEN DRIVING IN REGULAR WEATHER CONDITIONS IN ADDITION TO WET CONDITIONS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER HAD MY CAR INSPECTED. THE SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT SEEMED TO BE FINE THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION WHY MY TIRES AT THAT POINT 28,000 WERE BALLED AND DOWN TO THE TREAD INDICATORS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON JUNE 15,2012. UNEXPECTEDLY, ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2012 MY VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AT THE LOCATION I 287NB EXIT 41A PARSIPPANY RAMP ONTO 80 E TRAFFIC THEN MY VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND SLAMMED ONTO THE GUARD RAIL REPEATEDLY. I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED JOHN JOHNSON OF THE INCIDENT AND I PLEADED FOR THEM TO SEND ME A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE OF MY 100,000 MI WARRANTY. FURTHER, I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURERS CHRYSLER GROUP AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. EVENTUALLY, BECAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT CAUSE AND EFFECT THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE AND SEND FOR A CONTRACTOR INSPECTOR FROM PENNSYLVANIA TO INSPECT THE CAR. AFTER THE INSPECTION, THE CONTRACTOR CONTACTED ME AND TOLD ME HE IS SENDING IN THE REPORT TO CHRYSLER AND WAIT A WEEK BEFORE CONTACTING THEM FOR A COPY OF THE REPORT. MOREOVER, I FOLLOWED UP, AND CHRYSLER COULD NOT TELL ME WHO WAS HANDLING MY CASE. FINALLY, AFTER PURSUING MY CASE SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE CASE FILE WAS CLOSED AND SENT TO THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT BECAUSE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL WENT OUT. FURTHER, I WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE IN CONTACT WITH ME SHORTLY. NO ONE CONTACTED ME AND SEVERAL WEEKS PASSED AND I STILL DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM THE CHRYSLER GROUP. I TRIED AGAIN UNTIL I GOT AN ANSWER AND I WAS TOLD TO EXPECT A LETTER AND NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED. EVENTUALLY, AFTER A LONG WAIT, I RECEIVED A LETTER THAT STATED THAT MY CLAIM IS DENIED AND THAT THE INSPECTOR DID NOT FIND ANY MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. I ASKED FOR A COPY OF THE REPORT AND CHRYSLER REFUSE TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE INSPECTION REPORT THAT GATHERED INFORMATION FROM THE VEHICLE IMAGING ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEMS. We've owned this vehiclenot even 4 years. It had an engine recall that it was part of. It says it was repaired, however it never recieved a new engine. Now I just spent $9,000+ to replace the entire engine because of the exact issue of the recall: metal fragments in the engine. Why did I pay for this recall problem? Did dodge replace the engine during the recall? Paperwork says no, but shows it was "repaired". If it was replaced, why did I replace it again for the exact same issue? Dodge has financially ruined our family. Besides this $9k we've spent $6k on engine work before the new engine, $4,500 on transmission work (with more to come as we're currently experiencing transmission issues) and $6k + on all kinds of issues that has never occurred on any vehicles I have owned in the last 30 years. And we've spent all this in under 4 years. This is unacceptable! For an american auto maker to produce and sell vehicles like this. This is why we people buy foreign. This dodge IS NOT a well built, trustworthy and dependable car. You won't believe how many times we've had to miss school and work because the car was broken down or being repaired. Our Honda civic was 20 years old, ran better and was 100% dependable. I never had to replace the engine, do ANY transmission work or have had half the problems with my civic than I have had and currently have with this "american" car that is only 11 years old. As a 1 income family with 2 kids in college and one still in high school, this is completely devastating to us. Trying to save money and get ahead and ALL OF IT has been spent fixing this vehicle. Dodge has completely devastated our family. How can an American auto maker be allowed to get away with producing vehicles like this? Why should I have to go bankrupt owning a dodge? Why won't they accept responsibility for their defective product? I've spent $25,000 fixing this dodge in 4 years. I can't afford to fix it or buy a new car. We're ruined

The electrical is so messed up the battery drains within hours, I have shorts in all aspects of this car(Bluetooth, navigation, clicking relays nonstop, heat goes out intermittently, power switches on doors. I saw my headlights surging in power in the middle of nowhere, they would get bright, then go dim, then a battery icon illuminated on my dashboard before my car downshifted so hard I almost lost control of the car. The dealer replaced my motor mounts and my alternator, after calling to say my battery is bad and then turned around and said it wasn’t. Not to mention my brakes locked up in a little rain and I couldn’t stop crashing through a wall. Replaced my rear light turning bulb and it exploded with fire when I went to change it. The suspension is horrible and I am pretty sure my cv axles are all broken. Everything keeps breaking. Lifter Taps intermittently, rough idling and hard shifting. Key fob doesn’t start car or is recognized with fresh batteries in it. When I jump start it sometimes the horn goes off for a minute. The reverse camera goes out for days and randomly comes on again. Under the hood feels so extremely hot and for some reason it doesn’t register as overheating. Even when I check fluids and for the coolant levels are low for some reason. There is an actuator That constantly is going off under the dash. Airbags didn’t deploy when i hit the wall at all. The limp mode has come on and gone off a few times. Only codes I have is for tps and an outdoor ambient temperature sensor that says it’s either negative 40 degrees or 122 degrees. Which won’t let me clear nor allow me to remote start. Warranty is gone and when you take the fuse box cover off under the hood(just the cover) it goes haywire shaking and lights all over the dash and I have to shut the car off. Yes somebody please inspect this vehicle. The absolute worst vehicle I owe 12k on and I can’t afford to fix all of this that’s shutting down at the same time

The crankshaft position sensor as well as a oil leak from the motor and has intermittent start delays these failures I found on this sight that affects my vehicle make & model year my engine 3.6 when I accelerate the overdrive doesn't engage and i took it to Nyle Maxwell in San Antonio where it's at now I also have the diagnosis that matches what is posted here on this site & 3 open recalls that suggest other years may be affected.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light and the traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the driver's side wheel sensor, the passenger's side wheel sensor, and the crank position sensor were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V675000 (Electronic Stability Control, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The right headlight has condensation in it and the heat slowly has gone out across the front panel. The touch screen sometimes works but sometimes malfunctions. I have to get my car changed from Michigan to Virginia and it will require an inspection How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car slows down or electrical goes wired while I’m the car and I have 2 children under the age of 2. So if it catches fire due to an electrical problem or the engine fails while driving because of the check engine light or battery light it could cause a serious problem Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No they just started a few days ago the check engine light came on and now the battery light came on. It’s been a great car but I’m not sure what’s happening now because it’s nothing I did.

The blind spot is horrible. I have to check my mirrors 3 times because even if I look on my side, especially on the driver’s side whenever I have to switch lanes, I can’t see if there is a car on my blind spots. The mirrors don’t help because it may appear that the car beside me is far but it may also be near. So that of the major issue with this car. Next, when the vehicle in front of me did a sudden stop and I hit my brakes too hard to stop, the car made a throttling sound then it stopped. When it was safe to go, it wouldn’t go even though my gear is on Drive and I am pressing on the gas pedal. It just makes a rubbing noise as like it is on Park mode and you are hitting the gas pedal. So I had to shut my car off and turn it back on. Lastly, cruise control doesn’t work very well. Sometimes it works, but most of the times I had to pull over and restart my car or hit the brakes and press the on/off switch for cruise control.

My safety was at risk and I put others at risk when my vehicle lost power in the middle of a busy highway and almost caused an accident with my 2 young children in the car. It would not accelerate and we got stuck in the middle of the rode. The ABS light came on when it happened. I took it to my local dealer to diagnose and was told there was water in the ABS module connector which caused the wires to corrode. Chrysler had a recall on this specific issue for my model but because my vehicle didn't come out of a specific batch, they won't cover it. This is a safety issue and if other vehicles of this make and model were recalled for this specific issue, they should fix mine. I have attached the R61 recall from Chrysler for this issue

TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING HOME WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT I SMELT A BURN ODOR. I WAS JUST A 1/4 OF A MILE FROM HOME SO I DROVE IT HOME. UPON PARKING I NOTICED THERE WAS A SMALL SPOT UNDER MY CAR FORMING. ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. CHECK ALL MY FLUIDS AND AND NOTHING WAS LOW. THE NEXT DAY IT STARTED AND RAN OK UNTIL IT WAS RAN FOR ABOUT 15 THEN ONCE AGAIN THE SMELL AND NOW A LOW GROWLING. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PARKED AT A GAS STATION. I HAD A LOCAL SHOP LOOK AT MY CAR AND THEY DETERMINED MY TRANSFER CASE IS BROKEN. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR WHEN ACCELERATING IT WOULD PULL SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT WHEN IT SHIFTED GEARS. WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. IT SHOULDN'T TRY AND CHANGE LANES WHEN YOU ACCELERATE. I HAVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME JUST BY ACCELERATING. I HAVE ALSO BEEN DRIVING ALONG AND HAVE MY CAR TURN OFF. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK AND START IT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE STALLING HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE THE TRANSFER CASE WAS ON CITY STREET.

ON AUGUST 3RD 2017 I PURCHASED A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY WITH 32000 MILES. ON AUGUST 4 2017 I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP. I NOTICED THAT EVENING THAT THE FRONT RIGHT HEADLIGHT WAS NOT WORKING. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED IT. ON AUGUST 13, 2017 THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO FILL THE TIRE BUT IT SEEMED FINE. I FIGURED IT WAS JUST A SENSOR THAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. AUGUST 15, 2017 THE CHANGE OIL LIGHT CAME ON EVEN THOUGH IT DIDN'T NEED TO BE SERVICED. AUGUST 17, 2017 AS I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE THE CAR SEEMED TO BE PULLING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THEN THE ABS LIGHT AND THE MAINTENANCE AWD LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE OTHERS. THE CAR WILL HESITATE TO ACCELERATE AND MAKES A KIND OF GRINDING NOISE OFF AND ON. THE LIGHTS DON'T ALWAYS STAY ON AND WILL COME OFF THE SCREENS BUT EVENTUALLY THEY DO COME BACK ON AND GRINDING UNDERNEATH THE CAR STARTS AGAIN.

PURCHASED NEW IN 2012. DODGE JOURNEY SXT THE TIRES DEVELOPED CORD SEPARATION AT 22,000 KM. MANUFACTURER KUMHO. NEITHER CHRYSLER NOR KUMHO WOULD OFFER ANY COMPENSATION. EVEN HAD 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE THAT CHECKED OUT OK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. REPLACED THEM WITH AMERICAN MADE TIRES AND SO FAR NO ISSUES. MY ADVISE TO NEW CAR PURCHASERS IS HAVE TIRES IF OFF SHORE REPLACED WITH DOMESTICS AS PART OF OFFER TO PURCHASE. SECONDLY VEHICLE TO DATE ONLY HAS 37,000 KM AND BRAKE ROTORS DEVELOPED A WARP. PULSATION IS BEING FELT UPON MODERATE BRAKING. I AM NOT ONE TO BE HARD ON BRAKES AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO PANIC STOP THUS NOT HAVING TO OVER HEAT THE BRAKES. NEXT ISSUE THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED. THE CLOCK ON THE RADIO DOES NOT KEEP TIME . THIS IS NOT OUR DAILY DRIVER AND THE WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT TIME WISE. TO DATE ONLY JUST OVER 37,000 KM. I OWN 2 OTHER N.A. VEHICLES BY GM AND FORD 2001 AND 1999 RESPECTIVELY . THE 01 SUNFIRE 455,000 KM 4 SETS OF PADS AND ORIGINAL ROTORS AND DRUMS AND F150 WITH 157,000 2ND SET OF PADS AND ORIGINAL ROTORS SO YOU CAN SEE IT IS NOT A POOR DRIVING STYLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH CHRYSLER PRODUCTS . HAVE TO TAKE THE JOURNEY BACK TO DEALER FOR SERVICE TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE AND WILL BE GETTING HOLD OF CHRYSLER REP, THIS ONE IS MORE IN THE SHOP THAN IN MY DRIVEWAY THANKS TO GM AND FORD FOR KEEPING ME ROLLING.IF NO POSITIVE RESULTS FROM DEALER OR CHRYSLER I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THEIR PRODUCT TO ANYONE FROM MY EXPERIENCES. WE HAD ISSUES WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL, UPDATES NEEDED AND DODGE HAS NO CLUE. BUT NOW THIS...WE HAVE A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY THAT IS ACTING VERY STRANGE. IT STARTED WITH THE HEADLIGHTS BEING ON, EVEN WHEN THEY WERE OFF (WE DO NOT HAVE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS)...THEN AFTER THE CAR WAS OFF, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF EVERY 10-30 SECONDS, WE WOULD HAVE TO UNDO THE BATTERY TO KEEP IT FROM DIEING. WE REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS SWITCH AND IT STILL DOES AND ADDED A SYMPTOM. WHEN MY HUSBAND WOULD MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS, IT WOULD UNLOCK BY ITSELF. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW ON JULY 23,2012, AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A LOUD GROANING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END, ALSO STARTED TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. MY FIRST DEALER CONTACT WAS ON SEPT 4, 2012 AND WORKED ON THE BRAKES, AND THIS SOMEWHAT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THE DEALER HAS WORKED ON THE STEERING AND BRAKES A TOTAL OF 8 TIMES, REPLACING THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES, ALSO DEGLAZEING AND LUBRICATING AND WHATEVER, EACH TIME IT WORKED FOR A WEEK OR SO. THE LAST TIME , APRIL 29, 2014, A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB WAS DONE ON THE REAR BRAKES, A FRONT END ALIGNMENT, AND REPAIR THE FRONT BRAKES. THIS COST ME $499.00. MILEAGE IS 46700. THE PROBLEM STARTED RIGHT AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE HOME, THE POWER WINDOW DID NOT WORK NOR THE POWER LOCK. WHEN STARTED THE HEAT AND AIR CONTROL WOULD RESET THEMSELVES. ALSO, THE CLOCK AND RADIO WOULD GO ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN. NOW THE PROBLEMS HAVE INCREASED, MY SLIP RESISTANCE IS NOT WORKING, I AM HEARING ALL SORTS OF NOISES UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK FOR INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. THEY SAID CODE WAS 6TH CYLINDER AND RESET, AND HAD TO COME BACK NEXT DAY. IT RECENTLY CAME ON AGAIN AND NOW HAVE TO TAKE BACK TO SHOP, BECAUSE THE POWER AND ENGINE HESITATES, HAS ISSUES GOING UP HILLS, AND SCARES ME ON LONG RIDES. IT IS NOW PAST THE 35,000 MILE AND INTO MY EXTRA WARRANTY I PAID FOR. TIRES ALL WEAR BADLY TOO, CAR NEEDS FULL ALIGNMENT. HOPING THEY WILL NOT JUST RESET AND ACTUAL FIX THE 6TH CYLINDER, UNFORTUNATELY THE LIGHT COMES AND GOES. ITS NOT THE TIRES THAT ARE A PROBLEM, IT IS THE BAD ALIGNMENT CAUSING IT TO WEAR WRONG. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE EMERGENCY LANE FOR TWENTY FIVE MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS IN THE PROPER POSITION. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HOT AND SMOKE AGAIN EMITTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,546. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

MY FAMILY WAS IN THE VEHICLE (MY SON WAS 4 WEEKS OLD AT THE TIME, MY DAUGHTER 2) ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY AND THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT AT 65 MPH. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. ABOUT 15 MILES LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WE EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE LOW FUEL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IT'S HAPPEND TWO OTHER TIMES SINCE THAT FIRST INCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE INCIDENT AND THE CODES AREN'T ACTIVE SO THEY CAN'T VERIFY THE SCENARIO. CHRYSLER HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I BOUGHT MY NEW DODGE JOURNEY ON THE 16TH OF JULY 2012. I LIVE APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP WERE I BOUGHT MY JOURNEY. I WAS DRIVING AT 830PM AND HAD AT LEAST 120 MILES ON THE SAME ROAD AND SET THE CRUISE CONTROL TO 68MPH, THE LEGAL SPEED WAS 65MPH AND THERE WAS LIGHT TRAFFIC. AS MY CAR APPROACHED A SMALL HILLY INCLINE, IT FAILED TO MAINTAIN THE 68MPH, DROPPING TO 60MPH, AND THEN UPON REACHING "THE TOP" IT ACCELERATED RAPIDLY REACHING HIGH RPMS ROUGHLY 5500 6000 AND OVER COMPENSATING TO AS MUCH AS 77 BEFORE SLOWING DOWN TO THE PRESET SPEED. AFTER DOING THIS 3 MORE TIMES, I PULLED OVER TURNED OFF THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP, HOPING IT MAY JUST BE A QUICK FIX. IT ONCE AGAIN DID IT AND I REFRAINED FROM USING THE CRUISE CONTROL FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY TRIP. ON MY WAY BACK, I ONCE AGAIN TRIED THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN AND SAW THE SAME RESULTS. UPON RETURNING HOME I CALLED MY DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT AT MY NEXT APPOINTMENT WHICH WAS 10 DAYS LATER. 2 DAYS PRIOR TO ME BRINGING IN THE CAR, I TRIED IT FOR A THIRD TIME, THIS TIME SET AT 45MPH, SAME AS LEGAL SPEED LIMIT, WHILE CONTINUING UP FROM A PARKWAY ONTO A BRIDGE ENTRANCE, THE CAR DID IT AGAIN AND NEARLY SENT ME FLYING INTO THE BACK OF A TRUCK BUT I WAS ABLE TO BREAK FAST ENOUGH TO SLOW DOWN AND DO A MINOR SWERVE WITHIN MY LANE TO AVOID IT. THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A LOW ENGINE COOLANT WARNING AND I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS WELL ABOVE THE MINIMUM LEVEL, HOWEVER HAD ORANGE COOLANT ON TOP OF IT. I CLEANED UP WHAT I COULD AND DID BELOW SPEED LIMIT HOME. THIS WAS MY SECOND ISSUE WITH THE COOLANT WARNING, AT 1150 MILES I BROUGHT IT IN AND THE DEALER FOUND NO CODES THAT IT EVEN OCCURRED AND THEREFORE DID NOT FIX A THING. UPON DROPPING OFF MY VEHICLE, THEY DID NOT SEEM AT ALL CONCERNED AND THOUGHT I WAS MAKING IT UP. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY OWN CAR. *JS
