The electrical system keeps failing. The front windows the radio ac and power lock and doors glitch on and off. This is daily to put where the radio and ac will not stay on for more than 30 seconds.

In April 2025 I was driving and the abs light came on and windshield wipers went off sporadically. Dodge dealer found nothing wrong. It happened again in June 2025. Dodge dealer had car for 1 week and stated they could not find problem but car was safe to drive. They said to return when problems were more constant. On the morning of 8/14/2025, I dropped someone off at the dr and went to Starbucks. Went inside for order. While driving back to drs windshield wipers went crazy and car started to stutter. I pulled over .4 miles from Starbucks. When I stopped I saw smoke so got out of the car and could see flames. I went to open backdoor for my purse but door would not open. Drivers door was not fully closed so was able to retrieve to call 911. Fire department arrived quickly but front of car was already engulfed in flames. Fire department was able to get Fire out. Car was a total loss.

The actuator for cabin air engages when vehicle is completely off. This is due to a short in the electrical system, causing the actuator to function when power is directly applied. This could cause the electrical system to overheat and cause a fire.

My ac or radio will turn on when ever it wants. I can turn my stuff off up to 18 times in a day. I have no control over my units front or back. I have spoken to neighbors co workers and strangers who have the same car. Every last person I have talked to is having the same issue with this car. I have taken my car while it was under warranty to have the issue taken care of. They will not do anything since they don't witnes it happening. This should definitely be a recal.

Passenger head rest deployed for no reason. If someone was in the seat they would have got severe whiplash. It was a broken plastic piece inside the headrest. This is a common occurrence. There were no warnings. I kept the part in case it needs to be inspected. Definitely a manufacturers defect that needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt

Was hit by another vehicle in front driver wheel which knocked me off the roadway. During the collision I kept hitting the brakes and the car wouldn't stop. I had no control over the steering as well. My car then hit a fence. My airbags never deployed with extensive damage to the front end of my car. Because of the airbags not deploying I hit my head on the steering wheel causing injury as well as my knees hit the dashboard.

My passenger and my safety was put at risk because the air bags did not deploy causing us to be thrown forward forcefully causing pain in our back and neck. Car is being towed to a shop and I let them know my concerns for the air bag being faulty

My family has two Dodge journeys both 2017s. The catalytic converter code keeps popping on our cars. Other years of Dodge journeys and other Dodge vehicles have had recalls for those but not ours. Seems suspect to me that we would have two Dodge journeys that are popping for the same codes, and this seems to be a issue in other Dodge journey years previously.

My wife and I each have a 2017 Dodge journey. Both of our vehicles have now shown codes for catalytic converter issues. Previous years of Dodge journeys have been recalled for similar issues, but not ours at least not yet. I don't think it's right that we should have to repair on two cars the exact same issue that is reported for other journey years.

My engine light came on my vehicle and the dealership says it’s a catalytic converter problem and I need a new one. That part apparently is recalled on other vehicles but not on mine for the year 2017. But other vehicles are having issues with that part as well and the dealership says the manufacturer should pay for it since it’s recalled but the manufacturer told me no due to not being in a certain year. I have kids and need my car.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, she heard a clicking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that there was smoke coming from underneath the passenger’s side hood. The contact stated that she did not notice any warning lights being illuminated. The power steering and brakes were still functioning as needed which allowed her to pull the vehicle safely to the side shoulder. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

There is a backup camera recall for the Dodge Journey that I have been experiencing with my 2017 Dodge Journey since after the third year of owning my vehicle, I have replaced it twice already out of pocket, and now it’s happening again for the third time. My Dodge Journey needs to be included in this safety recall. The backup camera glitches, it goes upside down, it turns sideways, sometimes there are lines in it, other times it’s only half a picture or lines throughout the picture, it also goes black and white, then to colored again.

Rear backup camera recently went black while still displaying check your surroundings message, and immediately returned to normal after a few seconds. Approximately one week later the image flipped 180 degrees to a upside down position in which I lost perception of where I was while backing up. Thankfully the warning beeper was working and I stopped before backing into a car in a busy street. Have not seen a dealership yet. I have looked up my vin and found no recall for this specific issue, but I did discover that newer models 2018 to 2020 did have a recall for the exact issue that I am having.

My 2017 dodge journey needs to have the catalytic converter replaced. I drive my family to and from school and work on a daily basis and my families lives are at risk should this fail. The same issue is under a recall for the previous year 2016, and I am well aware of the VIN process, and how they can be “updated”, which means the parts are 2016 parts but then the vehicle was “re-vin” to reflect an updated year when the vehicle sits on the lot for more than the year it was manufactured. So then the vin is “updated”. By law this can be done up to two years from the actual manufactured date meaning a 2017 could have 2015 parts! Then my vehicle would be included in that 2016 recall for the catalytic converter as would the rest of these people who have been complaining about the same issue. Please include the 2017 in with the 2016 recall on the dodge journey for the replacement of the catalytic converter. Thank you!

Drivers side head rest popped open after getting out of vehicle at a store I stopped at after a hike. No warning lights no accident prior to this happening. It literally just popped open passenger in vehicle thought it was a cool feature until we researched this was a potential safety flaw that some how this vehicle is not showing eligible for.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH with her son seated in the front passenger’s seat, there was a loud popping sound coming from the passenger’s side seat before the front passenger’s seat headrest exploded. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be inspected; however, the vehicle was not repaired due to a fractured clip. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

We were driving on the interstate and my front seat passenger headrest blew apart. I could have suffered neck injury due to the force of the impact, or accident due to startling the driver. We called our local dealership and they were familiar with this issue however stated it is not on a recall and we could have the headrest replaced for $500 plus labor. There were no warning signs from the vehicle. I did have a sore neck and headaches for a couple of days. I just had a mechanical give me this page and said I should report the issue.

Didn’t get into accident but a couple months ago my car wouldn’t start , wouldn’t try to the lights wouldn’t come on nothing. Someone cleaned battery terminal it started . Now randomly sometimes it won’t start it will try but won’t so I put it neutral and barley push it toward put it back in park then it will start .

I am so not happy with Jacob Conlon who works at Mitsubishi in La porte. I realized that he was playing with me all the time and that he never repaired my suv until I found out from Danny who works at Dodge.  I dropped it off at service and picked it up more than 5 times  because Jacob never repair it

The vehicle shuts off while driving. It has occurred 6 times over the course of a year. It results in a total loss of power, steering, brakes creating a very unsafe scenario. It has happened 5 times while doing above 35 mph and in one case above 50 mph and resulting in one missed stop sign. This creates a tremendous level of anxiety. I have taken it in on four occasions to reputable repair facilities Christian brothers automotive for repair three times soon to be four times and CarMax once. Three times I was turned away with no help only inspection fees. The fourth time Christian brothers replaced cam shaft sensors only to have another incident while driving 40mph down the road. Thankfully I was able to stop safely and now I have another appointment scheduled for service. I feel like there is a safety miss on this vehicle.

The vehicle wouldn’t start, just kept idolizing. After trying for 10 minutes then getting a new key battery, the vehicle started then engine light was on. A code for crankshaft was on. But then check engine light went off by time I was home. Car broke down in middle of road. Wheel and breaks locked up which was very unsafe with my kids in car and I was unable to move it till tow truck came. Vehicle started working once it was at the auto repair shop. So we had him change the fuel pump because nothing else would show was wrong with the vehicle. Then 5 days later it broke down again. It is now back at the auto repair with no code showing.

On Monday, August 16, 2021, I was driving towards a busy intersection when my steering wheel was all of a sudden unable to turn in either direction. I stopped the vehicle before merging on the busy intersection, which my next destination was I-80. My safety was very much at risk due to this as if it would have failed on I-80, myself or my children could have been severely injured as well as other drivers. I had the vehicle towed to a local dealership (Greenway Motors) and they inspected the vehicle and initially found that the power steering pump was broken and there was metal debris that would need to be flushed but that when they start the repair, more than likely the debris would also be in the steering gears. They said the vehicle was no longer under a warranty for this issue. Based on their inspection, the cost they stated for the repair I could not afford so I contacted an auto repair shop locally (Ewerts). I had the vehicle towed to that location on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Ewerts informed me that when replacing the power steering pump and flushing the lines, they did find metal debris also in the steering gears. The vehicle is currently still in repair at Ewerts. The estimated repair cost is now roughly $1,600.00 There were no warning lights or messages on the vehicle prior to this incident.

I HAVE HAD 3 INCIDENTS, WITH THE LATEST ON 12/23 WHEN DURING A RAPID BREAKING TO AVOID COLLISION AS A VEHICLE DID ILLEGAL LANE CHANGE IN FRONT OF ME, MY WALLET, WHICH I HAD ON TOP OF THE MIDDLE COMPARTMENT, PUSHED THE CLUTCH AND CHANGED THE GEAR TO REVERSE AND MY CAR WENT BACKWARDS ALMOST COLLIDING WITH A VEHICLE BEHIND ME. ON OTHER INCIDENT ON THANKSGIVING DAY IN 2017 I WAS MAKING AN U-TURN WHEN I HAD TO BREAK FOR A CAR WHICH TURNED RIGHT SHARPLY AND MY SMALL PURSE FLEW AND SWITCH THE GEAR TO NEUTRAL AND I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF INCOMING TRAFFIC AND COULDN'T UNDERSTAND RIGHT AWAY THAT THE CAR'S GEAR HAS BEEN PUSHED TO NEUTRAL AND THAT'S IS WHY I COULDN'T MOVE THE VEHICLE. THE CLUTCH HAS NO LOCK BUTTON AND WHEN PUSHED WITH EVEN TWO FINGERS IT SWITCHES THE GEARS, SO ANY SMALL OBJECT DURING A QUICK OR SADDEN BREAKING CAN CAUSE THE GEAR TO SWITCH TO REVERSE OR NEUTRAL.

2017 DODGE JOURNEY OIL FILTER HOUSING LEAK. VEHICLE IS PERSISTENT LEAKING OIL. CHRYSLER DODGE DEALER CLAIMS THERE ARE 40,000 ORDERS FOR THIS PART IN WAITING AND THAT THE TIMETABLE FOR GETTING A REPLACEMENT PART IS INDEFINITE. THEIR SUGGESTION IS TO KEEP REFILLING WITH OIL FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. THEY STATE THE PART MAY EVENTUALLY BE A RECALLED BUT IS NOT YET. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE WITH SO MANY KNOWN PROBLEMS THAT IT'S NOT BEEN RECALLED ALREADY. ADDITIONALLY IT'S A $700 REPAIR FOR A KNOWN ISSUE.

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF 11243797. FOR BACKGROUND, THE 2017 DOGE JOURNEY HAS BEEN STALLING INTERMITTENTLY STARTING AT 23,000 MILES MOST OF THE TIME NOT THROWING A CODE. THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND WITHOUT A CODE COULD NOT FIX WITHOUT A CODE. WE ENDURED 7,000 MILES AND 100'S OF STALLS (STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, HIGHWAY, LEFT TURNS IN FRONT OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC) BEFORE A CODE WAS THROWN INDICATING CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THE CONNECTOR TO THE SENSOR DID NOT FIT THE SENSOR.

The middle row bench seat, middle seat seatbelt doesn’t function the way it should. It doesn’t lock when you fully extend it or be able to hold a person during an accident. This seat has hooks for a child restraint but can’t see how it will hold a child seat if the seat belt won’t lock in place during an accident. Took my vehicle to a dodge dealer in Michigan City, IN who informed me this is not a defect, it’s the way the vehicle was designed. I have serious concerns about this because that is the seat someone can go through the windshield.

IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE SINCE I GOT THE CAR THAT I WAS UNABLE TO BUCKLE UP. THE SEAT BELT WAS LOCKED AND I COULD NOT PULL IT SO THAT I COULD BUCKLE MYSELF ... WHEN IT COMES ON WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVING IT WILL DING AND STAY ON FOR DAYS. THE AIR CONDITIONER/ HEATER JUMPS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL BE OFF AND AUTOMATICALLY JUMP ON. I WILL TURN IT OFF AND THEN IT WILL JUMP ON AGAIN. THESE ISSUES WERE "FIXED" BY A DODGE DEALERSHIP IN MAY AND ARE STILL REOCCURRING.

THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO YAKIMA CHRYSLER/JEEP/DODGE/RAM (2300 GOODMAN ROAD, UNION GAP, WA 98903) WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TWO DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE INCORRECT CODE WAS ENTERED WHEN THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,063.

WHILE HAVING MY CRUISE CONTROL ON I PASSED A SEMI GOING UPHILL. AS SOON AS I GOT AROUND IT AND BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE IT LOST SPEED SIGNIFICANTLY. I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS I PULLED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND BUILT UP MY SPEED AGAIN. ABOUT 10-20 MINUTES LATER THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE PASSING ANYMORE VEHICLES. I CONTINUED ON HOME WHICH WAS 2 1/2 HOURS AWAY. JUST 1 MILE BEFORE GETTING HOME MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ALL THIS HAPPENED ON SUNDAY JULY 22 ABOUT 1 PM. WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS DODGE ON JULY 17, 2017. MONDAY I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. WE PURCHASED A LEASE 2017 DODGE JOURNEY GT ON 1/10/2018. I CURRENTLY HAVE APPROX. 4300 MILES ON IT. WE HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL TAKEN CARE OF, AT A DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 11, 2018. THE FIRST TIME I USED THE CRUISE CONTROL AFTER GETTING THE RECALL DONE, I WAS GOING 72MPH ON MY WAY TO WORK AND MY ENTIRE CAR SHUT DOWN. NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, NO RADIO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH WERE ON, BUT NOTHING ELSE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE CAR WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR APPROX. 2-3 MIN, AFTER THAT AMOUNT OF TIME, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN, BUT DID NOT DRIVE IT. I CALLED MY HUSBAND TO BRING ME HIS VEHICLE SO I COULD GO TO WORK. HE DROVE IT HOME AND SAID THERE WERE NO ISSUES, BUT HE DIDN'T USE THE CRUISE. ON JUNE 18, 2018, THE DAY AFTER IT HAPPENED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 6 HRS, DROVE 27 MILES AND FOUND NOTHING. ON JULY 5,2018 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AT APPROX 11PM, I WAS DRIVING ON OUR LOCAL TURNPIKE AND HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 72. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT KEEP SPEED, IT KEPT GOING DOWN TO 65MPH THEN WOULD REV 6-7RPM AND GET BACK UP TO 72. ONCE I TURNED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF, THE VEHICLE KEPT TRYING TO SPEED UP ON ITS OWN. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP IT FROM SPEEDING UP BY APPLYING THE BRAKE AS I WAS DRIVING. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE SO, WE TRY AND USE OUR OTHER VEHICLE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BUT, WE BOTH WORK 50-56HRS A WEEK. THIS VEHICLE IS AND HAS A SAFETY ISSUE THE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY DRIVING, THE HEAT, THE COLD OR ANYTHING, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE.

My check light came on and when I check the code which was a p0420, Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1). Emissions Recall U67: Catalytic Converter Efficiency. This was part of the recall. Therefore it doesn’t meet the CA emissions standard. It is causing my vehicle to slightly overheat at standstill. It’s hasn’t been inspected yet and It has been over a month since this started happening to the vehicle.

So on 7/1/24 our vehicle started overheating some. And then we had the check engine light to come on along with another light that looks like a lightning bolt inside an inside out parenthesis. So I research the symbol and it came back as an issue with the Electric Throttle Control which is also means there is a problem with the electric parking brake. And then a mesage came on that said OIL TEMP HIGH SPEED MAY BE LIMITED. And then it started smoking really bad under the hood. So i researched some more and found out back in 2018 there was a recall on the same issue that was completed on September 23rd 2018.

As I was driving in March 2023 every light on the dashboard came on in the car. The car started shaking, the engine was very loud, the car speed slowed down than stopped, as I pressed the gas the car would not accelerate. After the car was parked overnight it started than I drove it to a Dodge dealership for repair, after being at the dealership for 7 days nothing was found by the technician to be wrong, the problem never happened while it was at the dealership, so I took the car. While driving the car for 7 months after the issue when I would drive up hills, I would have to completely press down on the gas to make it up the smallest hills. I didn't have any other issues until November 3, 2023, I was driving down the street and the same thing happened again. All the dashboard lights came on the car started shaking and the car speed slowed down eventually stopping.

While driving at any speed the vehicle will start jerking and RPM's will rev way up and heat Guage will fluctuate like the car is going to over heat but immediately drops back down to normal, when I let off the gas the vehicle starts to slow down very quickly like if I was pushing the break pedal.

Engine light came on. ABS light on. Red lightning bolt light came on. Car running very rough with diminishing power. Local mechanic said take it to the dealer. Took it to the dealer and it was repaired. Noted that there is a recall for RAM trucks with same problem but none for the Journey.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I LEFT MY HOME AND WAS HEADING TO WORK WHEN SOMEONE RAN A STOP SIGN. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID BEING T-BONED. THE BRAKES WORKED AT FIRST, THEN THE PEDDLE PULSED AND WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD. I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDER THE VEHICLE. AFTER NOT SEEING ANY, I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES AND THE PEDDLE KIND OF STARTED WORKING AGAIN, BUT IF YOU KEEP PRESSURE ON THE PEDDLE, IT WILL GO TO THE FLOOR BOARD. WHEN YOU DRIVE IT, THE BRAKES BARLEY RESPOND FOR THE FIRST 1.5" TO 2" OF MOVEMENT, THEN MOST OF THE BRAKING IS IN THE NEXT 1" TO 1.5" OF MOVEMENT. AS YOU SIT AT A STOP APPLYING PRESSURE. THE PEDDLE WILL GO THE FLOOR BOARD. YOU CAN PUMP IT UP TO FIRM, WITH THE VEHICLE IN THE OFF POSITION, BUT AFTER YOU START IT, THE PEDDLE BECOMES SOFT AND AS STATED BEFORE, GOES TO THE FLOOR BOARD. 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS HAVE SAID THIS IS NORMAL, THE BRAKES DID NOT DO THIS BEFORE HAVING TO SLAM ON THEM. IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THAT THE 2018 DODGE JOURNEY IS ALREADY BEING RECALLED FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR TIME.

The contact owned a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the instrument panel began to behave erratically, after which the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power, prompting her to attempt to quickly veer to the shoulder of the roadway. As a result, the contact was sideswiped by another vehicle on the driver's side. The air bags did not deploy. All warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact transported herself to an area hospital and was treated for a nondescript injury to her right shoulder. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control), and the VIN was included, and parts were available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 173,000.

FIRST IT WAS ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD WOULD STAY ON. MY USB AND CHARGING PORTS WOULD GO OUT. EVERY ONCE IN WHILE MY DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER WOULD RANDOMLY START DOUBLING MY SPEED. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY APPARENTLY REPLACED THE PART NEEDED. THAT SEEMED TO FIX THAT PROBLEM AT LEAST FOR NOW. BUT NOW THE SPEEDOMETER HERE AND THERE WILL ACT UP AGAIN. MY 2017 JOURNEY WAS MANUFACTURED IN AUGUST OF 2016 DODGE HAS A RECALL FOR JOURNEYS FOR CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS FOR JOURNEYS THAT WERE MADE FROM MAY OF 2016 TO JULY 2016 MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING OUT SINCE 40,000 MILES AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE UPON RESEARCH THIS MAY BE THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLANTS ONLINE STATING OTHERS CARS HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS SENSOR BUT DODGE ONLY DID A LIMITED RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, several unknown warning lights were flashing on the instrument panel. The contact stated that after receiving an oil change, the engine oil was low within a week. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic where the oil level was topped off, and the contact was informed that the engine oil cooler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that oil was leaking onto top of the transmission and that the engine oil cooler needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The headlights have condensation inside them. I had them replaced in December of 2019 as were under warranty at the time. Two and a half years later, I noticed I’m having the same issue as before. There is condensation inside the headlights. The dealer told me I needed to contact their corporate office to see what can be done. I called Dodge Corporate office and was told they weren’t going to cover the replacement cost because the warranty expired. This is a safety issue and it appears Dodge won’t stand behind their product.

I WORK NIGHT SHIFTS AND I NEED MY HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS UNLESS I AM IN A DIMLY LIGHT AREA AND I DONT KNOW OF THEY ARE ON OR NOT AND I DONT GET NO WARNING OF WHEN THEY ARE OFF. FRIENDS, ON SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 2019 I PURCHASED AND FINANCED A VEHICLE THROUGH BYERS KIA ON COLUMBUS PIKE IN LEWIS CENTER, OHIO. THE VEHICLE WAS A 2017 DODGE JOURNEY GT WITH APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES. THE SALESPERSON WAS KYLE CAIN, AND HIS MANAGER AS I UNDERSTAND IT IS BOB POLLOCK. THE SATURDAY I TOOK POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY SO I WASN'T ABLE TO INSPECT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND DID NOT GET A CLOSE LOOK AT THE FRONT TIRE TREAD. WHILE DRIVING AT APROX 25 MPH ON A SLIGHT BEND IN THE ROAD AND SLIGHTLY ACCELERATING, I REALIZED MY ENGINE HAD DIED WHEN IT STOPPED ACCELERATING. The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal scraping sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact became aware that the power steering cooler and hoses were hanging down underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the hood flew open and struck the windshield and cracking the bottom of the windshield. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and was able to partially close the hood. The contact then drove to her father's residence, and the contact's father assisted with closing the hood. The used car dealer, where the vehicle was purchased, was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Initially, the component that was failing was the rear wiper blade. The wiper blade would not perform a proper rotation. It wouldn’t move at all when I would turn the switch, but anytime the car was unlocked or locked. The door was open or closed the blade would move. A few days later, one reverse light was out. The rear wiper doesn’t really pose any risks but with my reverse lights, failing and any other lights in the rear could be a safety issue. My partner being an elevator mechanic knows electrical like the back of his hand., so he did the process of elimination, realized that it was the wiring at the back hatch. The wiring is shot brittle breaking burning.. which could possibly start a car fire which would put me my child. My boyfriend in danger.. the problem has not been confirmed by a dealer have not taken it to an independent service center. My partner does all of the repair maintenance on my car. I did not get any warning, signs or messages prior to the failure. My partner has fixed the wiring issue at the back hatch, but if it still needs to be inspected, I’m sure if wiring is checked anywhere else in the car it’s gonna be the same issue. Severe shaking at 60mph and above. Numerous attempts to correct the issue through dealership, private mechanics with balancing and high speed balancing did not correct the issue. It was determined through several mechanics that the ABS Module is no longer working and could contribute to the shaking of the vehicle. The dealership advised the manufacturer does not make these parts anymore. I tried purchasing a rebuilt ABS and it did not work as it was not compatible with my VIN. This is the second Dodge Journey I have owned and both have had the shaking issue. My automatic braking system and cruise control will no longer work as a result of the ABS failure, which makes this very dangerous to drive. I only have around 90,000 miles on this car and planned to keep it long term, but finding that I cannot get parts. I have also always had many problems with the fuel system. The light goes on all the time for the fuel cap even when it is on. The dealership advised it is the closure for the fuel tank that keeps having an issue. I smell fuel inside my car as soon as I turn it off after driving.

I would have my foot on the throttle and the vehicle would seemingly convulse, like accelerate then bow down and repeat. I brought It back to the dealership and they kept it for a week and returned my vehicle stating they couldn't figure out the issue. to this day it still does the same thing! The ETC warning light came on, then the car slowed down then stalled out and would not crank back up. Upon running a diagnostic, the following error codes displayed; P0420, P0340, P0197, P0117, P1D83, P2181(several codes showing up more than once showing permanent, pending). This also happened before but was taken to the dealership to be repaired but the problem is back again but worse. Me and my family were on the highway at the time of this happening and when this happened previously, I begged Carvana to take this car back as it not safe and it has happened again.

I took my car in for an engine knocking noise and was told that my motor needs to be replace. I was told that they have recalled all the other motors that were made during this time period but mine is not part of the recall. They have attempted it is a known issue with the cylinder that were put in the 2.4 L motors but will not help me in fixing the issue because they don't have my motor on recall. My is the E5 and the motors that they have recalled are the E4 and E6 motors that were put into the Jeeps and the Chrysler but they have not recalled the Dodges motors. Consumer have found out that these motors in fact have two recalls on them. The recall number is W80 and W84. They have found that the cylinder O-rings are bad, and this is confirmed with the with the notice that was sent with NHTSA ID # 10138863 with the manufacture communication number 9003357. Dodge is still refusing to fix the issue and replace the motor.

THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND HAVING TO HAVE THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES RETURN FOR FIXING TWO TO THREE TIMES BEFORE THE CAR IS FIXED RIGHT. LAST YEAR I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN NORRISTOWN, PA AFTER MY CAR FAILED TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT WITH CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED ON A CITY STREET. MY VEHICLE WENT UP A HILL, OVER A COUPLE OF FENCES, BEFORE STOPPING AGAINST A TREE. A FEW INCHES FURTHER RIGHT AND MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER MIGHT HAVE BEEN BADLY HURT OR KILLED. THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP TO 11244334 AND 11243797. FOR BACKGROUND, THE 2017 JOURNEY BEGAN STALLING INTERMITTENTLY AND NOT THROWING A CODE (STARTING AT ABOUT 23,500 MILES). THE STALLING OCCURRED DURING ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE EVENT AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE UNTIL IT THROWS A CODE. AFTER 6,000 MILES AND HUNDREDS OF STALLS THE VEHICLE FINALLY THREW A CODE, (29,500 MILES, P0335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR). THE SENSOR REPLACED, CONNECTOR DID NOT FIT SENSOR WELL SO IT WAS REPLACED (SUBJECT OF COMPLAINT 11244334). THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED, AND THREE DAYS LATER, IT STALLED AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY. ONLY THIS TIME THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK INTERMITTENTLY. BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE TECHNICIAN IN HIS FRUSTRATION AND OPENED THE WIRING HARNESS. WHAT HE FOUND ABOUT 8 INCHES FROM THE CONNECTOR WAS "CRANK SHAFT POSITION WIRES CUT AND TWISTED TOGETHER..." THE SERVICE ADVISOR ASKED WHO ELSE WAS IN THERE. ON JULY 17TH 2019. I WAS GAINING SPEED ON AN ENTRANCE RAMP TO HIGHWAY 95N IN STAFFORD, VA. AS I APPROACHED 60 MPH THE SUV'S STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. I TRIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK THEY WERE HARD AND WOULD NOT PUSH DOWN. I LET IT SLOW ITSELF DOWN AND MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF 95N. I THEN PUT THE SUV IN PARK WITH HAZARDS ON. I EXITED THE SUV TO CHECK FOR ANY DAMAGE AND OR INDICATIONS OF WHAT CAUSED THE SVU TO LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANYTHING THAT I COULD SEE. THIS WAS AROUND 2 IN THE AFTERNOON. THE LUSTINE DEALERSHIP HAD MY SUV FROM THEN UNTIL JULY 22ND. THEY PUT OVER 100 MILES ON MY SUV AND SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME TO JUST WAIT AND SEE IF IT DOES IT AGAIN. AFTER HAVING THE PROBLEM AND GIVING THEM THE SUV I LOOKED ON HERE AND SAW A SUV WITH THE SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE. THE CAR DID NOT LOSE POWER, AND RAN FINE THE NEXT TIME I DROVE IT. HOWEVER, IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP, SO WE WILL SEE WHAT THEY SAY. I DID SEE THAT THE 2012-2015 MODELS UNDERWENT A RECALL FOR SOMETHING SIMILAR. MAYBE IT IS THAT SAME ISSUE ON THIS MODEL. ALSO, A FEW MONTHS BACK I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE BOLTS HOLDING THE SERPENTINE BELT (DON'T KNOW THE EXACT NAME OF THE SYSTEM) BROKE OFF. THE CAR OVERHEATED AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THEY USED SHORT 8MM BOLTS TO HOLD UP THE SYSTEM AND THEY FAILED. DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER WOULD NOT COVER COSTS OF AROUND $175 TO FIX, WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT A LONGER 8MM BOLT WOULD HOLD UP LONG TERM. THE CAR HAS LESS THEN 50K MILES ON IT.

WE WERE DRIVING DOWN A 55 MILE PER HOUR HIGHWAY AND GETTING READY TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A NARROW BRIDGE. WE SLOW DOWN BEFORE MAKING THE TURN AND AS WE PROCEEDED THE CAR SHUT DOWN LOSING CONTROL OF BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL WHEEL ENOUGH FROM GOING OFF THE BRIDGE. WE WERE ABLE TO START IT RIGHT BACKUP AFTER WE GOT CONTROL AND CAME TO A STOP, BUT IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST SCARY EXPERIENCES EVER WITH A VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY MADE APPT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING TO HELP US. THEY STATED THAT DODGE IS AWARE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN ON A TURN IN TEMPERATURES ABOVE 105. THAT DAY THE HEIGHT WAS ONLY 99.WE DID HAVE THE NEWEST UPDATED SOFTWARE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING FURTHER THEY CAN DO SO NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS TO PRETTY MUCH CALL THEM AND SET UP APPT. WITH DEALER. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 70MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON BY THEMSELVES, ALL DIAL INSTRUMENTS WENT TO ZERO AND ALL THE ELECTRONIC ALERTS (OIL, OVER HEAT, TIRE PRESSURE, ETC) ANNUNCIATED. THE THROTTLE REMAINED LOCKED AT THE CRUISE SETTING AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WITH ACTIVATION OF THE BRAKES OR CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON. I WAS ABLE TO OVER POWER THE ENGINE WITH THE BRAKES AND GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS STILL RUNNING AT AN ENGINE SPEED TO SUPPORT 70MPH AND FIGHTING THE BRAKES. THE PUSH TO START/STOP ENGINE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK. I EVENTUALLY GOT THE CAR INTO JUST RAP AND THEN PARK. AT THIS TIME, IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. A WEAKER PERSON WOULD MOST CERTAINLY BEEN INVOLVED IN A BAD ACCIDENT. I WAS CONCERNED THE CAR WOULD CATCH ON FIRE AS THE BRAKES SMOKED SIGNIFICANTLY. [XXX] [XXX].
