Air bag light was flashing and contact Dodge multiple times to inquire and fix recall however all I was offered was a gift card but no sort of transaction while vehicle was being fixed and was told I would receive follow up to make arrangements to get everything fixed however never had received any follow up and finally like I had told and showed the dealer probably the bag was going to deploy luckily I was the only person in the vehicle the passenger side airbag deployed and caused me to go off road into rail totaling vehicle it was no injuries or damages to any other property however vehicle was total loss and had a car person pick it up so I wouldn’t occur any cost leaving vehicle abandoned or in a storage facility when I contacted recall customer care for dodge and told them what happened now their excuse is a investigation however before this incident they have had ample time and many opportunities to check the vehicle just to be pushed off with a bunch of excuses to not provide ample conversation for inconvenience and the losses accrued due to their Faulty unsafe vehicle that could have cost someone life due to donor drive recall

IN 2016 I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP DUE TO AIR BAG RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THE WORK WAS COMPLETED AND AIR BAG WAS REPLACED. I RECEIVED A NEW RECALL NOTICE NOV 2017 WHICH SHOWS MY VEHICLE IS STILL ON THE AIR BAG RECALL LIST. PLEASE ADVISE ASAP, FOR SAFETY REASONS, I SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THE CAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE MAGNUM. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SAM'S TRANSMISSION CENTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPRING RETAINER BRACKETS FAILED AND THE FLOOR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

TO START THIS COMPLAINT I WANTED TO FIRST SAY THAT MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED (NOT IN MOTION) WHEN THIS SAFETY ISSUE TOOK PLACE. THE ISSUE IN QUESTION IS IN REGARDS TO RECALL K39. THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT LEVER INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK ON MY VEHICLE BROKE. THIS BROKEN INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK RESULTED IN THE INABILITY TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER OUT OF THE 'PARK' POSITION. THIS IN TURN LEFT ME STRANDED. SUBSEQUENTLY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SUBMITTED THE RESULTING REIMBURSEMENT PAPERWORK TO CHRYSLER. SADLY, THE REIMBURSEMENT WAS DENIED B/C CHRYSLER HAS NOT INCLUDED MY VIN IN THE K39 RECALL...DESPITE ITS OBVIOUS INCLUSION. *JS

I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR IN JANUARY 2015 AND HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT DODGE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CAR (2006 DODGE MAGNUM SXT) DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES UPON A 23 POINT INSPECTION ON 2/7/2015. THE CAR BEGAN TO LEAK FLUID, I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON 2/14/2015 AND THE LEAK COULD NOT BE IDENTIFIED AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT NO LEAKS WERE PRESENT. ON THE DATE IN QUESTION, I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 30 AND 45 AS THE CAR WAS SHAKING TOWARDS THE BACK WHEELS. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT AND COMMENCING TO DRIVE AGAIN, THE DRIVE SHAFT OF THE CAR BROKE OFF AND I STOPPED THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. UPON REPORTING THIS TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH THE DODGE MAGNUM AND THIS IS AN ODD OCCURRENCE. MY 2006 DODGE MAGNUM HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR. UNTIL YESTERDAY. I HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE EARLIER IN THE DAY WITHOUT PROBLEMS. WENT OUT TO MY CAR AFTER WORK, STARTED RIGHT UP AS USUAL - BUT WOULD NOT GO OUT OF PARK. AFTER GOOGLING THE PROBLEM, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM ON BOTH DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THERE IS A WORK AROUND, BUT AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS ITEM IS NOT FOUND ON ANY RECALL LISTS. WHILE THIS IS NOT TECHNICALLY A "SAFETY" ISSUE, IT IS A VERY FRUSTRATING PROBLEM. HELLO, IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, EVERY TIME I PUT GAS IN, WHETHER I FILL IT UP OR NOT, WEATHER I TOP IT OFF OR NOT, THE ENGINE WILL RUN ERRATICALLY, OFTEN STALLING MULTIPLE TIMES FOR NO REASON. IT HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY, AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AT ANY OTHER SPEEDS, AND GOING THROUGH TURNS, NEEDLESS TO SAY, WITH NO ENGINE I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. I HAVE THE STRENGTH TO KEEP THE CAR UNDER CONTROL, BUT A LESS EXPERIENCED OR LESS STRONG DRIVER MAY LOOSE CONTROL, POSSIBLY WITH SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. DROPPED VALVE SEAT: AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT 800 MILES FROM MASSACHUSETTS TO NORTH CAROLINA, WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM, I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND I STOPPED AT A MCDONALDS TO USE MY CELL PHONE AND I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AFTER ABOUT 5 MINS. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START, THEN AS THE ENGAINE TURNED OVER IT BEGAN TO MAKE CLUNKING SOUNDS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NEAR BY DODGE DEALER, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE FAILED, COSTING ME $8,466.33 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED AND I HAVE ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS SHOWING THAT THIS FAILER SHOULDN'T HAD HAPPENED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO OWN THE FLAW IN 2005-2007 HEMI 5.7 ENGINE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO REFUND ME THE $8,465.33 THAT I HAD TO SPEND TO BUY A NEW ENGINE.

I WENT TO THE PARKING LOT AT MY DR.S OFFICE TO GO HOME. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING TYPE SOUND AND THE ENGINE STALLED. IT WOULD NOT STAY RUNNING. LOTS OF SMOKE WHEN STARTED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY THAT THERE WAS OVER 90% COMPRESSION. LOSS. INTERNAL CYLINDER OR OTHER FAILURE INDICATED. RECOMMENDED TEAR DOWN FOR $1850.00 ONLY 80,000 MILES, SERVICED REGULARLY BY THE DEALER. NO WARNING. I DECLINED THE TEARDOWN AND HAD CAR TOWED HOME. HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE OCTOBER 2016. RETIRED/DISABLED. I CANNOT AFFORD ANY MAJOR REPAIR. FACTORY DEFECT SHOULD BE FIXED BY MANUFACTURER.

This is the second time I have been stuck on the side of the road showing that my car has a quarter tank of gas and it just dies on me. I was rescued with some fuel and it started right back up again. Upon checking for recalls for this issue, I came across some 2005 to 2006 Dodge magnums or chargers with fuel tank recalls. I called Chrysler and they are saying my vin does not apply to the fuel tank recall. How is it, I am having the same exact issue as those vin’s affected by this recall. I think it is something to look into. I have gone on Dodge forums and read people’s stories about the same issue as I am having and I am sure they are unaware of the steps they can take with the NHTSA to file a complaint where an investigation could be imminent. Please advise. This has happened more than once so now I consider an empty tank when I am at a quarter tank reading on my gas meter.

AFTER FUELING CAR TO NEAR THE FULL MARK I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE TRAFFIC FLOW ON INTERSTATE 75 AT OCALA. THE CAR LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE DIED ( NO POWER BRAKES OR STEERING) ATTEMPTED TO RESTART CAR IN NEUTRAL WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF CAR. TRAFFIC WAS RUNNING 70MPH AND I WAS MERGING INTO THE TRAFFIC FLOW. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART ACTING AS IF FLOODED. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY WIFE WHO HAS MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY AS SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR. MY RESEARCH INDICATES THE PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY DODGE AND IS RELATED TO A PURGE VENT VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK. IT SEEMS THE VELVET STICKS OPEN AND ALLOWS GAS , NOT JUST THE FUMES TO BE RECIRCULATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY (INTAKE) AND FLOODS THE ENGINE. BEFORE I COULD RETURN THE NEXT DAY TO DROP THE CAR OFF, THE ENGINE STOPPED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN AND THERE WAS OIL SLUDGE BUILD UP. MY DODGE HAS ONLY 63K MILES AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE IS PERFORMED EVERY 3,000 MILES. THE CAR HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. I AM SEEKING SOME SORT OF RESOLUTION WITH DODGE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOMEONE ELSE DROVE THE VEHICLE AND OBSERVED THAT THE TEMPERATURE AND OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL PUMP FAILED. THE DEALER WAS ALSO INSPECTING TO SEE IF THE WATER OUTLET VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE AT WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,359.

HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR, HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FANS WERE DEFECTIVE AND WERE NOT COOLING THE ENGINE PROPERLY. SECONDLY, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED ITS WARRANTY, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY $6,000 TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED. AS OF MARCH 20, 2009, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48,000.

I'VE HAD THIS ISSUE HAPPEN BEFORE FROM 2006 ONWARD TO TODAY, ONLY A FEW TIMES A YEAR, AND CHANGED OUT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY EACH TIME AND THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT THE CAR HAS NEVER STALLED WHILE DRIVING BEFORE NOW, ONLY WHEN SITTING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. THE CAR STALLS SOON AFTER REFILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE FILLING WAS STOPPED WHEN THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A STREET, AND ALSO WHILE TURNING ONTO A HIGHWAY. THE CAR BECOMES DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER DUE TO THE LOSS OF POWER ASSIST PROVIDED TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES BY THE ENGINE. THIS APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY A LACK OF FUEL TO THE ENGINE. THE CAR HAS RESTARTED, SO FAR, AFTER A FEW SECONDS SITTING STILL IN THE TRAFFIC.

I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK OF MY 2006 DODGE MAGNUM AND DROVE ABOUT 20 MILES INTO TOWN. AFTER MAKING A QUICK STOP AT A LOCAL STORE I ONCE AGAIN GOT INTO THE CAR AND BEGAN DRIVING APPROX. 30 MPH. vehicle engine codes were all corrected properly in hopes of fixing the stalling issues. the vehicle was seemingly better for a few days. upon driving the vehicle on the highway at normal highway speed, the vehicle suddenly began flickering and shutting off and on. the vehicle would shut off and on rapidly. each time the vehicle turned back on it would accelerate causing the vehicle to jolt forward and stop rapidly. the car would not allow me to brake safely. the vehicle behind was within inches of a collision but their quick response to slam on their brakes and swerved to the shoulder thankfully missed. this is not an isolated event. speaking to other hemi 5.7 vehicle owners this is a very common issue. I had a baby in a carseat in the backseat who was jolted around slamming the back of his head into his car seat. this is so dangerously unsafe. not dealership can find the problem even after replacing every part possible on these vehicles.

The engine in my 2006 dodge Magnum has begun stalling out after fueling precisely as described in NHTSA action number PE13016. The first time it happened I was in the middle of a U-turn at a busy intersection. The engine died and I lost power steering and power brakes. I was able to brute-force the steering wheel and narrowly avoided hopping the curb and hitting the light pole on the corner. This light pole might have just as easily been a pedestrian. I called my local Dodge dealer (Ontario Dodge, Ontario California) to explain the problem and arrange to bring the car in. I let them know that I was aware that this issue was addressed under NHTSA action number PE13016 and should be covered under the lifetime warranty extension. I was told by the service adviser that I am required to drop off my car and that it would be 7-10 days before they would look at it. I suggested that they put me on a list and I could bring my car in 7-10 days at a time when they were able to look at it. They were unwilling to do this. They're insisting that my car sit in their lot for 7-10 days before they will even look at it. This isn't a scheduling issue. I can go on their website today and schedule my car for any other service tomorrow. No, this is a punitive action. Clearly they don't want to do the repairs and they're hoping I'll just go away by making it unreasonably difficult; not to mention expensive considering that a rental car will now be required. Chrysler and their dealers are not acting in good faith with regards to their agreement with the NHTSA and PE13016. In my experience and opinion they're doing whatever they can to evade these repairs. I'm a little disappointed that a full recall wasn't ordered. The agreement the NHTSA made with Chrysler left them with a little too much wiggle room in my opinion.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE COVERAGE WAS EXCLUDED FOR THE VEHICLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 55 MPH (SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 35 MPH). THE FAILURE RESOLVED TEMPORARILY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. WHEN THIS DOES OCCUR THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE POSITION AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BOTH COME ON AND THE CAR REVS UP LOUDLY UNTIL IT IS SHUT OFF. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE GOING 65-70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR DROPS DOWN TO 35 MPH. NOW THAT THE WEATHER IS COLDER IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN INCLUDING AS SOON AS YOU START THE CAR. THERE ALSO IS A LOT OF SHAKING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY OR WHILE BRAKING. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WAS INOPERABLE AND FAILED TO MOVE WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO PULL AND SECURE IT OVER HER BODY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT MODULE, BUT THE SEAT BELT FAILED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE RELATED TO THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. SHE WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR. THE TIRES ON MY 2006 DODGE MAGUNUM RT MAY BE SUSPECT. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR WAS GIVEN A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT AT ABOUT 6000 MILES, IT WAS FOUND TO NEED MAJOR ADJUSTMENT AT ALL FOUR WHEELS. I PURCHASED A 2006 MAGNUM FROM LITHIA OF FAIRFIELD IN MAY OF THIS YEAR, 2006. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE FOR THE FIRST FIVE MONTHS (MAY-OCT) WITH THE ONLY DISTRACTION BEING ONE OF THE REAR WINDOWS OPERATED FINE FROM BOTH POWER SWITCHES FOR 90% OF THE TIME. I TOOK IT IN DURING ROUTINE WARRANTY SERVICE AND EXPLAINED TO ONE OF THE SERVICE MANAGERS BUT BECAUSE THE POWER WINDOW SWITCHES WERE OPERABLE THAT DAY I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO (THAT DIDN'T SIT TO WELL WITH ME, BUT I SHRUGGED IT OFF AND SAID OK). IN OCTOBER, A FEW OTHER INCIDENTS HAPPENED LIKE THE BLUE TOOTH QUIT COMMUNICATING WITH THE SYSTEM. I FIGURED TO WAIT UNTIL MY NEXT ROUTINE SERVICE MAINTENANCE TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT IN A FEW WEEKS. AROUND THE SAME TIME FRAME I NOTICED THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY INTO REVERSE AND THAT WHILE SUSTAINING A STEADY HIGHWAY CRUISING SPEED THE VEHICLE WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WASN'T FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS IF I GRADUALLY INCREASED THE RPMS. I MADE NOTE AND ASKED TO HAVE THIS INVESTIGATE AT THE SAME TIME I WAS TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. UNFORTUNATELY (OR FORTUNATE, DEPENDING ON POINT OF VIEW OF SURVIVING A HIGHWAY ACCIDENT), THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE ON THE WAY TO WORK DRIVING ON A VERY, VERY BUSY AND DANGEROUS STRETCH OF ROAD WHERE THE AVERAGE SPEED IS ABOUT 75 MPH. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED, THE THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STALL, HOWEVER THE RPM'S NEVER EXCEEDED 1800. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR NEEDED REPLACED. AFTER THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED, ANOTHER PROBLEM AROSE. DRIVING AT NO SPECIFIC SPEEDS, A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE CONTACT DESCRIBED THE SOUND AS A MUFFLED EXPLOSION TYPE NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT WOULD INVESTIGATE. UPDATED 03/03/06. *JB

I PURCHASED A 2005 DODGE MAGNUM RT IN MARCH OF 05. THE DASH/INSTRUMENT LIGHTS DIMMED NORMALLY TO A LEVEL SAFE FOR NIGHT TIME DRIVING. THEN I PURCHASED A 2006 MAGNUM IN OCT. 05. THE DASH LIGHTS DO NOT DIM TO THE SAME LEVEL AS THE 05 CAR. IN FACT, THEY DON'T DIM ANYWHERE CLOSE. THEY ARE SO BRIGHT ON THE LOWEST SETTING THAT I HAVE TO PUT A TOWEL OVER THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT NIGHT WHICH THEN MAKES THE SPEEDOMETER (A REQUIRED PIECE OF EQUIPMENT) USELESS. THE DODGE COMPANY AND THE DEALER HAVE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM AND OR FIX IT. DODGE NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. IF YOU TAKE A CELL PHONE AT NIGHT AND TURN IT ON SO THE PANEL IS ILLUMINATED, HOLD IT ABOUT 2 FEET FROM YOUR FACE, THAT IS HOW BRIGHT AT THE LOWEST SETTING THE INSTRUMENT LIGHTS ARE ON THIS CAR. I HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER MAGNUMS AND THEY ARE THE SAME. *NM
