The transmission failed while driving down the road. The vehicle jumped gears while traveling at approximately 30 miles per hour. My husband was luckily able to maneuver it to a safe location, but almost wrecked in the process of it jumping gears while we were accelerating with the flow of traffic. The problem has been confirmed by the Ford Dealer- the transmission failed and has grinded up clutch parts all in it. There were no prior warnings that anything was failing, but we did notice a shudder that day when we would accelerate to around 30-35 mph. Upon research afterwards, we learned that there is a TSB for that exact 8F35 transmission and that Ford refuses to recall the known problem in the 2019 - 2021 Ford Edge. I was so scared for the safety of my family with my 6 year old child in the back seat. A 4 year old vehicle should not need a new transmission. And Ford should not be putting people in danger for a known problem.

Car shudders and jerks during acceleration
Oct 02, 2025
I bought the car in October of 2024 with 92,000 miles. Around 99,000 miles or so it started running kinda rough drove like it had less power and is shifting hard. It affected the drivability of the car. I took it to the ford dealership and they quoted me $5,200 for a torque converter. The car is out of warranty and I cannot afford to fix it and I still owe money on the car. If I knew this was going to be an issue I would not have bought the car. I currently have 107,000 miles on the car and the issue is only getting worse.

The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the spark plugs; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the torque converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under an Extended Warranty coverage related to the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

I am a second time owner of Ford cars, it's really concerning to me that for one, they have the reputation of their transmissions being faulty, lastly that this being my second vehicle that I have purchased from them that's having transmission issues. Transmission issues that are identical to each other. The transmission keeps slipping and I've only owned the car going on two years. There should be no reason that I would have to replace it so soon. Just like it was in my 2005 ford Taurus. This is an issue that needs immediate attention and it's a rip off because coming up with 9 thousand dollars to spend to repair something that you can just get a new car with that as a deposit. I am very frustrated with Ford and it really needs to be looked at. From looking at it, many people have had this issue with this particular car and need you to please act on this. Ford can not continue to make faulty transmission in their cars and expect people to pay these high prices for repair. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND HELP US THE CONSUMER AND SPENDING OUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON FAULTY PRODUCRTS.

Reverse camera goes black with movement in the picture. Can not see to back up for a week or two at a time then it works for a week. Asked Ford dealership about an update for software and they require $175 to diagnose the camera then pay to have he said possibly a new camera installed. It does not alert to people or objects behind vehicle during the time the camera goes out.

The Ford Dealership has had my vehicle since May 5, 2025 and since then, has been unable to fix Safety Recall 25S28 (APIM Module Reprogramming due to distorted screen). On June 30, 3025, the dealership informed me that Ford has put a stop hold on the recall, with no estimate as to when or whether my vehicle will ever be repaired. On June 19, 2025, I filed a complaint with Ford corporate customer service hotline, to no avail. I have heard nothing back from the corporate Ford customer service team. Truly alarming and frustrating.

There was an update to address a recall issue for the rear camera in May 2022, and ever since it was done the front camera has been malfunctioning. This affects parking situations and I am uncertain if it is causing any issues with other safety features. Ford gave me several options to try and “restart” the system but none have worked. It has been months and they have not provided an update to fix this camera and no one at a dealership knows anything about it or how to fix.

2021 Ford Edge ST 4500 miles After the 5/13 back-up camera system update, which I my car did not have a problem with. Expected functionality - Under 6 mph, when pressing the "front camera button" it is supposed to show the camera. Actual functionality after 5/13 system update - Scenario 1 - Camera works from cold start, putting car in drive, and pressing the camera. After moving above 6mph, and then going back under 6mph, the front button camera no longer works and/or works intermittently and unexpectedly stops working. Scenario 2 - After going above 6mph, then only way to get the camera to work is to put the car in reverse, wait for the rear camera to show, then put back into drive and hit "front camera button". This will result in the camera showing for 1-3 seconds before intermittently/randomly stopping which can result in me crashing into something. *When pressing the camera a second time "180 degree split view "no longer works. Scenario 3 - After going above 6mph, then only way to get the camera to work is to put the car in reverse, wait for the rear camera to show, select zoom "+" button, then put back into drive and hit "front camera button". This will result in the camera showing for 1-3 seconds before intermittently/randomly stopping which can result in me crashing into something. *When pressing the camera a second time "180 degree split view "no longer works. https://youtu.be/gyRpgPLvsfc Ford Sync Case Number - Camera - [XXX] CRM:0745245 Ford Dealership - Customer [XXX]4; Workorder [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I bought a CPO 2021 ford edge titanium from lasco ford of Fenton Mi. When purchasing the vehicle the salesperson repeatedly kept saying the car was clean with a clean car fax checked out by their mechanics but did NOT tell me the vehicle has an open safety recall which me and my wife weren’t told or seen on the car fax not to mention the car broke down right away after we left the dealership at 9:30 at night after closing which in Michigan selling a CPO vehicle with an open safety recall and not telling us is illegal if they checked the vin prior to selling is the vehicle they would have known. I felt that they misled me on the car also doing everything they can to not let me test drive it

1) The lane keeping assistance feature was engaged. 2) I observed an upcoming snow drift across the road. 3) I stepped on the brakes to slow down. 4) I observed there was no oncoming traffic (two lane road). 5) I moved over towards the center of the road to better navigate the snow drift. 6. The lane keeping assistance feature adjusted my steering to move me back into my lane (closer to the ditch). 7. The vehicle entered the snow drift with my wheels turned to the right. 8. The snow drift impaired the lane keeping assistance feature. 9. I lost control of the vehicle. 10. I hit a utility pole. Does the user manual instruct the operator to disengage the lane keeping assistance feature during snow and icy conditions?

2 complaints
I was stopping at a yellow light and the brakes were slow to respond nearly resulting in a collision with the car stopped in front. I initially attributed this to wet brakes since it was raining heavily and I had only gone a short distance. I returned home without further incidence. The next morning my wife took the car and nearly drove into traffic after the car was slow to stop leaving the subdivision. I had the car towed to the dealer, they said the brake booster had failed and that brake booster part is on back order and wouldn't available until the end of October or early November. The car is 3 years old with 25,000 miles. I think the parts back order status may be the result of unexpected demand because of a high failure rate. The dealer said the part in question is a common component used on many different Ford models. I'm not aware of any work stoppage or surge in vehicle demand that would account for the part shortage.

On April 26, 2022 the dealer performed the recall (Ford 22S!4) a software fix to correct a rear camera problem, I was NOT experiencing on my 2021 Ford Edge ST. It took the entire day to do the procedure, and after getting the car back, I experienced what seemed to be some temporary problems, but the main problem being the front camera not operating as designed. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer on May 3 2022, and as of the date of this communication, May 27, 2022 they have not been able to correct the problem I will be without use of the vehicle for one month as of May 31, 2022. Summary of Issue: June 2025: Attempted recall repair; dealer stated recall was on hold. August 2025: Received another recall notice but delayed repair since no issues were present. November 2025: Navigation system, CarPlay, and infotainment screen began shutting off. Dealer confirmed these functions are controlled by the APIM module covered under Recall 25S28. December 2025: Vehicle at dealer for ~2 weeks. Dealer attempted software update, then said Ford corporate approved replacing the telecommunications chip on Dec 12. On Dec 16, dealer informed me Ford put the recall on hold again and instructed me to pick up the car without the fix. Current Status: Vehicle still has defective APIM module affecting rear-view camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and infotainment system. Ford corporate states there is no timeline for resolution. Safety concern: Rear-view camera may fail, and infotainment system shuts off while driving, impacting visibility and driver awareness. Requested Action: Please investigate Ford’s repeated delays and lack of remedy for Recall 25S28. Ensure timely resolution and enforce compliance with recall obligations.

Splash guard under the vehicle, sometimes also referred to as a diaper, fell down. I reported it to the dealer and was told I didn't need it anyhow. Well, if I didn't need it anyhow why did they put it on to begin with ? I also notice a lot of other Ford vehicles driving down the road with these guards (diapers) hanging down, so it isn't just a me problem it's a Ford problem. After inspecting the guard it is made of such cheap material I don't know how any engineering designer could of thought that these would hold up given the environment under a vehicle. I would also think that this could easily become a road hazard if it were of fallen off going down the road.

The vehicle was sluggish to reverse as I left my office but after I left it was operating normally to gas station about 3 miles away. I stopped at gas station to fuel up. After, I started car and it would not go back in reverse. When i shifted from park back to reverse, it moved maybe 5". Was sputtering and clanking. I drove forward maybe 2', while sputtering, jerking, and clanking. I managed to make it home (<3 miles) and on shifting it wanted to stall, and on braking it was sputtering, jerking, and clanking with downshifting. At home, when I put it in reverse, i got an error message "Gear select will engage at low speeds", and as I tried to reverse, the car went FORWARD almost causing me to crash into my house. After several attempts to back up and begin to go out of my drive, it was sputtering and jerking too much so I decided to try to reverse back to the carport, and it would not move. It sits where it stopped.

I'm am the original owner of my 2021 Edge ST and have kept up with all my scheduled maintenance. Earlier this year, I had my transmission fluid replaced per the 40k maintenance schedule. Since then (and even a little prior to) I can feel the transmission, for lack of a better term, "jutting" and making a very slight "whine" when I've decelerated but then gone to reapply acceleration. It mainly seems to be a problem with second gear. I have also had the fuel neck replaced twice now under warranty. The first time was shortly after purchasing the vehicle, it kept tripping the gas pump at every station and I would have to manually trickle the gas in. Then again a year or two ago it started tripping again and they replaced it. I've also had various rattling noises that start out of no where and persist. My moon roof even came from the factory missing pieces that had to get installed only a month after I had the vehicle. The roof is starting to rattle again this year. I have identified that by rolling the sun shade open and closed and finding with the shade opened and rolled up, the rattling stops.

In April of 2025 I got my normal oil change and I mentioned to the technician that the car seems to be jerking more than usual when I start trying to accelerate. They mentioned that the car needed the coolant flushed out and that could be contributing to the issue. I had it done in June. It was not causing the issue but the jerking got worse. So this month, August 2025, I took the care to Aamco Transmissions and Total Car Care. They did a full systems and diagnostic courtesy check and determined that I need my transmission replaced or rebuilt which is at least $7k. This is a 2021 Ford Edge. I am the only owner. I have 71k miles on the car and never thought that I would have to fully replace a transmission in 4 years.

[XXX] [XXX] As you can see in the links above this has been a issue with the purge valve for the Edge . this problem is so ignorable to the driver because they will junk the car and resale it. I cant because i signed papers to buy this Edge I could have did another lease. I decided to buy my this Edge 2021out of 4 Edges Ive leased and this one I should have not bought my(2021). Buying this one with low miles 22,335, and at the most ten days later this particular part (purge valve) not even an opportunity to shop around for a extended warranty went bad. Its not only a problem for ford but then the Lincoln Nautilus that vehicle shows it holds its value $30,000 or more I also consider this vehicle as well during my purchasing process. I convinced my sister to lease her second Corsair 2024. And family of dedicated ford owners ford 150's its hard for me to not tell them this is and issue. my mother scheduled her appointment weeks down late August 2024 for recall her 2021 and the purge valve. SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
I was driving the Ford Edge and the roads were a little slick so I was driving very slow. I was about 2 blocks from my house when I needed to engage the brakes to come to a complete stop, which happened to be going downhill toward a stop sign that intersected with a freeway off ramp. Both the brakes and ABS failed to engage and I hit a guard rail across the intersection. This caused significant damage to my vehicle and was very lucky that no one was hurt. The "Check Brake System" only came up after I ran into the guard rail, which was also the only time I needed to fully engage the brake to come to a full stop. The shop confirmed that the accident would not have damaged the brakes.

Hi When engaged in Apple Play or Ford Car Play and an incoming call comes in the volume is like 20 and it scares the crap out of us. It's not the phone, as it happens with any phone we plug into the USB or use wirelessly vis bluetooth. Dealer says Fiord is aware but seems to me they are taking too long to fix. I can't help thinking people are going to get into accidents from becoming scared. You can manually turn the volume down while it's ringing but at that time it is too late. It havens every time we get a call since we have owned the car.
