There was a leak in the engine coolant system causing the engine to warp and fail. The engine had thousands of dollars worth of work this year due to other issues. The backup camera stopped working as well and the recall can't be fixed because there aren't parts for it. This engine failure is costing me $9,000 because it can't be repaired and I now have to pay off the vehicle because it isn't worth the cost to put in a new engine. This is a known issue with this model of Ford. Why hasn't it been recalled?!?

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Yes, the engine (long block) is leaking coolant into the cylinder. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This is a known problem with these vehicles. Some vehicles have locked up while driving or caught on fire. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Thousands of people have reported this problem with this 2.0 ecoboost engine (especially years 2015-2018) and ford has done nothing about it. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The ford dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The check engine light has been coming on and off for the past year. We were told not to worry about it. It was nothing emergent unless it came on and started blinking.

The EcoBoost engine showed a low coolant level and white exhaust smoke. Ford has diagnosed the vehicle and the Ford Edge needs a new engine due to Ford’s flawed engine design. Ford is aware of the issue and a recall is not issued and they are not taking any financial responsibility. Refer to Ford technical service bulletin 19-2346

I am reporting a dangerous engine defect involving coolant intrusion into the combustion cylinders, specifically Cylinder 4. This is a known design flaw in the 2.0L EcoBoost engine block (referenced in Ford TSB 19-2346). My vehicle is experiencing a persistent misfire, loss of coolant without external leaks, white smoke from the exhaust, and a "waterfall" air-pocket sound in the dashboard. This defect poses a significant safety risk. The engine is prone to sudden stalling or entering "Limp Mode" while driving at highway speeds, creating a high risk of rear-end collisions. Furthermore, the internal coolant leak causes severe overheating and allows flammable fluids to enter the exhaust system, which presents a fire hazard. If the engine "hydrolocks" while in motion, it could lead to an immediate loss of power and power steering, making the vehicle impossible to control safely in traffic. Ford is aware of this defect through internal Technical Service Bulletins but has not issued a safety recall. They are currently requiring owners to pay 8,000–10,000 for a full engine replacement once the powertrain warranty expires, despite this being a fundamental manufacturing defect.

I am reporting a repeated transmission failure involving my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle has had multiple transmission replacements performed by an authorized Ford dealership (Barbara Dyson Ford). Each replacement has been faulty, and the most recent transmission is now failing again. The vehicle currently has worsening transmission issues, making it unreliable and unsafe to drive. The problem continues despite repeated repairs, indicating a pattern failure rather than a one-time defect. I rely on this vehicle to transport my child to ongoing medical and specialist appointments. Due to the repeated transmission failures, the vehicle cannot be depended on for essential transportation. I have contacted Ford Consumer Affairs but have received no resolution or follow-up. I am reporting this issue due to safety concerns and repeated unsuccessful repair attempts. 2017 Ford Edge Titanium, 2.0L with 6F35 Transmission, ~70kmiles, owner has all service records. After routine service at Ford dealership ([XXX]), oil and filter change, inspection and coolant replacement; Owner noticed upon driving home that the car would try to stall when placed into gear, then shudder and buck until the throttle was nudged and the car would start moving (forward or backward). Owner promptly returned car to the dealer. A service advisor replicated the problem and took the car into the shop where it remained for 3 days for testing and diagnostics. The mechanics diagnosis (uploaded in attachment) is that the torque converter is in a constant locked state and that something was "bad" in the transmission and likely a torque converter failure. The shop estimated $9,138.33 to repair. Owner declined the excessive repair cost and limped the car home and into owner's garage where it currently sits awaiting some resolution. As this transmission has been the subject of prior recalls, owner believes the recall should be expanded to include this vehicle. Also noted, this transmission has been and may still be the subject of active litigation. Note: an extended warranty the owner had purchased with the car when new, expired just 4 months prior. Coincidence. The Ford 6F35 transmission is defective and should be promptly recalled in all vehicles! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Transmission failed without notice. Required full replacement.
Nov 30, 2025
Slow acceleration when the AWD system is needed, due to failure of rear differential. No replacement parts are available, suggesting high demand due to high failure rate, possibly due to poor design.

SERVICE BRAKES
64 complaints
There has been no accident as of yet. However Ford has sat on a recall for potential bad break lines on the 2017 Ford edge for 8 Months. Loss of breaks could easily result in multiple DEATHS. I would consider this as an egregious time to get flexible break line. A search of ford parts stores indicate it is available. [XXX] have the parts listed as Ford F2GZ-2282-C Brake Hose Assembly Ford F2GZ-2282-C Brake Hose Assembly Passenger Side (Replaced By F2GZ-2282-G) and Ford F2GZ-2282-D Brake Hose Assembly Driver Side (Replaced By F2GZ-2282-H) at $10.72 ea. This seems to include the updated part number. What is the hold up on such a serious safety issue resolution? Consumer Complaint Summary Nature of Dispute: Refusal to reimburse for safety-related recall repair (Recall 25S87). Summary: On April 6, 2026, my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ) became undrivable due to a failure of the rear brake jounce hoses. This specific defect is the subject of Ford Safety Recall 25S87. Because the vehicle was a safety hazard, I paid $1,854.43 for an immediate repair at an authorized Ford dealership. Despite the dealer successfully performing the repair, Ford Motor Company (Case #XXX-XXX) has refused my request for reimbursement and rental assistance. Ford claims "parts are not officially available" until April 2026, yet they allowed their dealer to sell me the parts for a private repair. This refusal violates my legal right to a free remedy for a safety defect under federal law. [XXX] and [XXX] (unknown Last name) reiterated the refusal to reimburse my repair an told me after I have it repaired when the new parts are available I can submit my invoice for potential (not guaranteed) reimbursement. While stopped at closed train tracks, my brake petal depressed about 2 inches further. After this I was having trouble breaking, I quickly pulled into a parking lot and had my car towed a nearby dealership. There is a recall out for the break line of my car, 25v544. The dealership called and confirmed that the ruptured break line is due the to outstanding recall that currently has no resolution. The dealership is trying to charge me for the repair of the break line, but promises a reimbursement once a solution is released for the recall. I believe that since the recall has had no resolution since September 2025, they have not fixed the issue in a reasonable amount of time and should not charge me for the break line repair.

No incident has happened yet, my complaint it that there is a safety recall that can affect the rear brake lines on my vehicle, and if the fail it could cause an accident. This vehicle is 9 years old and there still is no solution available from the manufacturer!!! This certainly doesn't seem like a timely way to address a brake related safety recall.

The check engine light repeatedly comes on in my vehicle and despite expensive repairs and multiple trips to the mechanic, the problem is recurring. It has now been determined that there is a coolant intrusion into the engine block and the only resolution is to replace the engine block in its entirety which will cost thousands of dollars. This is a known issue with the Ford Ecoboost engine and a known failure.

My 2017 Ford engine had a catastophic failure and required replacement. Sequence of events: January 8 2024, Check Engine light came on and at 99350, the spark plugs were replaced to correct . March 12 2024, Check Engine light came on again at 100900, the coils were replaced to correct. March 19 2024, Catastropic Engine light came while driving on interstate 75, the engine block cracked and was replaced. While replacing the engine it was noted that the Power Take Off Asy-s was also defective and needed replacement. As things progressed it was learned that Ford knew of an engine design failure but did not issue a recall. Fortunately the interste highway engine failure did not cause an accidentbut easily could have. I am currently asking Ford for reimbursement of the enging and Asy-s.

A check engine light appeared after a couple rough idle starts. I took it in to have the code read and it was a Cylinder 2 misfire. It was explained that it was not a big deal, just needed to replace spark plugs. I replaced spark plugs (car has 65K miles), picked the car back and the problem still existed. Took it back in with the same check engine code of Cylinder 2 misfire, this time the replaced a ignition coil. Picked it up and still had the same issue, and I took it back and they replaced the fuel injector. After the fuel injector was replaced, 2 days later I was driving it home still having the same exact issues of when I originally took it in rough, misfiring start the car over heated. I shut the car off and seen that I had zero coolant. I put coolant in the reservoir ( completely shocked because I had just had an oil change, and they didn't notice the coolant was low). The next morning I called the place I had been taking it and told them what happened and they were stumped. So, I called Ford told them the issues I was having, they said, they are 100% sure they know the issue( because it is a known issue with this year and make of vehicle) of what is wrong with it but to bring it in and they will run a diagnostic on it. With in an hour they said, that I had a coolant leak that was leaking behind the spark plugs and going out the exhaust causing the misfire and white smoke. To replace the motor will be $7K. I bought this car brand new, had the extended warranty and maintenance plan on the vehicle. It was kept in pristine condition and never missed a oil change or any recall. Then 6 months after the warranty is out, this issue began. Ford knows that this is an issue and they have a technical warning on it for the Ford edge and other vehicles. It is a unsafe to drive and not fair that I need to pair 7k for a new engine on a issue they know they have with this engine.

The check engine light gave codes P0302 & P0316 and I had noticed the coolant level being low. After doing some research, I see that Ford issued a TSB 22-2229 as the fix for the problem which includes a new engine block because of a poor design for the coolant flow causing the block to crack. This should fall on to Ford to repair rather than people that expect and need their vehicle to last.

My 2017 Ford Edge Sport has the exploding Panoramic moonroof. The first incident - the car was parked and the front movable glass panel was cracked (see picture 1). No objects hit the glass. The second incident occurred while was wife was driving on the interstate at 75mph. It sounded like a gun shot - glass exploded into the passenger compartment - luckily the sunvisor was CLOSED or my wife and her parents in the backseat would have been sprayed with broken glass (see pictures 2 and 3). No objects hit the glass - there were no other vehicles around her at the time of the incident. We have now replaced the movable glass panel twice at a total cost of $2500 -- via insurance with our deducible of $1000. And NOW - the rear non-movable glass panel is cracked! It just won't end! The 1st incident was about Oct. 25, 2024- the 2nd incident was around May 9, 2025.

Loss of steering - Errors: "Steering Assist Fault", "Hill Start Assist Not Available", "Service Advance Trac", Adaptive Steering Fault". I had been driving the car on a hot day approximately 30-50 miles that day, lots of stops, last stop was order pick up. I did not turn the car off and when I went to pull out of the parking lot, I lost steering and errors flashed. I was able to turn the car off and back on- errors disappeared. I drove it to a gas station thinking maybe I was running out of gas, I pumped the gas and attempted to pull out, it did it again. A few minutes later, I was able to move the vehicle to a parking spot. Waiting with engine off and attempted again and error codes gone and as able to drive approximately 12 miles home. When I arrived codes were still gone, decided to move to another spot, and then the codes popped up again. Towed vehicle to Ford Dealership - Codes were not present when Ford received my car. They stated it was the battery, charged for battery replacement and diagnostics - $400. Drove it maybe 20-30 miles to run errands and same codes popped up and lost power steering while driving low speed over railroad tracks. Towed back to Ford - this time they want $2500 to replace the steering equipment - there has always been a clicking in the steering but Ford stated it was normal and nothing was wrong. Ford did replace the steering equipment at 40k miles under warranty, now a little over 80k miles and it has to be replaced again? Seems like there may be more to this, I shouldn't have to replace this once, let alone twice in 80k miles. This could have easily caused an accident if at higher rate of speed, an inexperienced driver or one with less upper body strength to be able to move the steering wheel. I noticed a recall for 2016 models and a lot of similar situations on the web for customer complaints. Could there be something going on with this year as well? I have not repaired vehicle yet....

Bad purge valve, car wouldn't start. Code P1450
Feb 12, 2024
Have check engine light on . Saying bad purge solenoid. Replaced it. Light still came on. When I get fuel the suv bucks and stalls for a bit. Checked with a buddy at Ford motor company. Stated they know of the problem with it. But don't have a solution. Being an a.s.e. tech myself. And reading up on this. I see ford did recall the focus for this same issue. Why have they not recalled others vehicles like mine. This could be a VERY BAD SAFETY HAZARD. when a person is filling there car the extra fuel is now going into the fuel evap system, backwards. So it's filling up as system that is meant only for fumes. If something in this system shorts out or have a internal engine back fire from this extra fuel. It could potentially cause a explosion in the fuel system and with a full tank of fuel that would not have a happy ending. The nhtsa Must get on ford to fix this problem asap.

WHEELS

Today, during a routine tire replacement (4 tires) due to tire wear, I was told by Big Box service facility that the lug nuts on my vehicle all were swollen and they could not address as they had no parts. I consider this an unsafe condition that I have been put in. My next step is to take it to the dealer. I will keep you posted!
Feb 18, 2024
I took my 2017 Ford Edge to a Ford Dealer to get an oil change and tires rotating on he rear of the vehicle; however, they told me that the lug nuts on both rear wheels have the two piece lug nuts that Ford put on several of their vehicles that have swollen and delaminated rendering the vehicle’s lug wrench and their wrench useless. So needless to say, they were not able to fulfill the works service I pad for that included the oil change, fluid check and tire rotation. So in the event I get a flat tire, or when I decide to get new tires, I'm going to have to a Ford dealer and pay a premium for tires (I just had the front tires done 2 weeks agao and got Goodyear ties for $161 each, whereas Ford quoted me almost $260 per for the same tire). And they said they'd also have the charge me to drill, use a cutting torch and something else to get the lug nut off without damaging the wheel stud; they didn't give me a cost estimate on that, but going to assume it's between $50-100. So instead of paying $320 for 2 reach tires like i did 2 weeks, I'd be looking at between $570 - $620 for 2 rear tires because Ford decided to use some cheap lug not that they know are defective, but continue to use them?? I thought the nhtsa was supposed to help consumers and not allow companies to continue taking advantage of consumers. However, I also submitted something to you about 6-9 months ago on this same vehicle. Ford has a 2.0 Ecoboost Engine in many vehicles and thousands if not hundreds of thousands have had to replace engines because of Ford's design that causes the cylinder tor something to crack and then coolant leaks into the motor. The only option once this occurs is to sale to another unexpected buyer, or do want my wife and I had to do and pay Ford another $8500 to put a new motor in, which will probably fail again. So please do something; Ford should not be allowed to continue use defective parts with no recalls, as Ford has already gotten their thousands.

WENT TO WASH MY 2017 FORD EDGE CAR TWO WEEKS AGO IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICE THE PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS HAD WAVY CRACKS IN IT. NO CHIPS OR LEAKS JUST A WAVY CRACK THAT CAN BE FELT FROM THE EXTERIOR. RESERCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND IT TO BE COMMON IN EDGES FROM 2014 AND UP TO THE POINT THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD FOR NOT DOING ANYTHING THAT WAS DROPPED IN 2016. My vehicle has the same issues related to a recall where the coolant leaked into a cylinder effecting the engine which now has to be replaced. The problem is that this recall is vin specific which eliminates my vehicle from this recall. It is my opinion that this needs to be reviewed because somewhere along the lines somebody dropped the ball. How can my vehicle not fall under this recall due to a number?
Jul 01, 2024
I have a 2017 Ford Edge and have the issue of intrusion of coolant into the cylinders, which I learned from some research is a known problem that this model is having. It initially was a check engine light. I brought it to an oil change place and they ran the code and said I needed a tuneup. I got a tuneup and the light returned. It caused the engine to overheat. Luckily, I was not stranded but could have easily been stranded with my grandkids in the car on a roadway. The only resolution is a complete engine replacement costing me $8,000 because Ford has not issued a recall on this known problem and is not standing behind their product.

This is regarding reference number 830243. We took our car to the dealership in Huntington Beach California for a recall regarding the flex plate being cracked. The dealership asked if there were issues to the acceleration and if the car was shaking, I said yes. They said it may be the flex plate and to bring it in. We received notification that the flex plate was not cracked, but the torque converter was the issue. This make and model, built at the Oakville Plant in May 2017 has previously had flex plate recall. We are assessing why our vehicle was not under that recall. I have spoke to an agent at NHTSA who stated that the manufacturer is in charge of the recall roll out and what vin numbers are covered. I called Ford, who I assumed to be the manufacturer of the Ford Edge Vehicle and they explained to me that they do not manufacture anything (very re-assuring). Today when I spoke to Ford, it has been useless. No real answers. They asked me to speak to the dealership. Danielle, the dealership service dept manager at Huntington Beach Ford Located at 18255 Beach Blvd was not very kind, explained to me that my car was not covered under 22n12 because the flex plate was not cracked. But the program terms state that a one time repair if needed to the flex plate, transmission fluid pump and torque converter would be covered. It appears that twice our vehicle make and model, built in Oakville, MI has had recalls to the torque converter in 2017 with the ford reference number 17S16 and again with the flex plate with 22n12 which is a part directly related to the torque converter. This appears to be a safety issue with this vehicle that nobody will address.

The check engine light would intermittently light up and then go out for a few months prior to system failure. In the week prior to failure, we took the vehicle to AutoZone and used their engine code scanner to try to diagnose the problem. Based on the result of that, we first changed the spark plugs, which initially made the check engine light turn off for about a week, then it came back on. We then replaced the ignition coils, the check engine light never went out. A couple of days after that, while I was driving home from work one morning, the check engine light started to flash at me, which it had not done before, the car started shaking, and the RPM pin started dancing but would not exceed 2000RPM. We took it to the dealership where they diagnosed a coolant intrusion in cylinder 2 and told us this is a known problem with Turbo Boost engines from 2015-2018 and that there is currently a class action lawsuit underway to push Ford Motor Company to make it an official recall. They recommended replacing the engine or trading the vehicle in for a new car. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the dealership's diagnosis and replaced the engine with a 2019 ReMan turbo boost engine, including brand new turbo hoses and gaskets. The total bill came to $8367.64

2017 Ford Edge was rattling with starting it in the morning. We received a backdated letter about a flexplate recall. We took car in to check it out. Service guy said to go home, “you would know if it was the flexplate”. Then car was rattling a little more and check engine light came on, so I brought the car and the letter back in and same service guy said he would check it out. Charged me $764 to change out 4 spark plugs and an ignition coil. Said car was fine to drive and that they checked all cylinders etc. But they were going to ask for Ford approval to replace flexplate….. They called that it was approved and they kept car for many days and said it was fixed. Last week (two months and only 500 miles later), check engine light came on again. We took it back to Auto Nation. They kept car to evaluate the problem. Called us a few days later saying we would need a new engine for $8,500. Service guy said this happens a lot. Most people had traded in for new cars. One guy with extended warranty got it fixed. We asked if cylinders, plugs, etc were fully checked 2 months ago, why would you say cylinders are corroded now? Did fixing the flexplate cause the problem? We looked online and saw talk of class action lawsuits, cylinder issues, Ecoboost engine issues, and possible car fire issues. This caught our attention as a huge safety concern. We are not sure how to proceed. (I have all paperwork from Autonation and recall letter.)

There is no noticeable leak from outside the vehicle and is not obvious the coolant gets low/empty very quickly Vehicle has been inspected by Ford Dealership and a third part mechanic, both confirmed the coolant leak and cracked cylinder wall A check engine light came on, but it was for misfires in the engine, not identifying the coolant leak. at this point, I have been told to come in for a diagnostic check (my time off from work), but no parts and cannot fix it if the brake hose is leaking, my rear view camera is acting up at least on a weekly basis, can be at times more often then that, and they do not have the parts, also Ford is NOT making the parts at this time per warrentary employee at the dealership. ???? so consumer safety with FORD is - do not care about customer safety? i have to stop and take time for a diagnostic check, to be told yes or no if yes nothing can be done, if no let's say in a week it start to leak, again the parts are no being made at this time my recall letter is from 9/1/2025 over 5 months almost half a year and parts are not being made??? INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. i thought customer safety was to protect from physical harm, Ford is not doing this so now , was i sold a lemon that cannot be fixed? try backing up from the driveway into the cudelsac and viewing for kids, and pets then all of a sudden camera jumps to moving lines and scares the crap out of you making you jump (while driving) please assist me understanding why part are not being made for these Ford Edges i know i am NOT the only Ford Edge on the road i see them when i am on the road. Can we PLEASE ensure not just drivers of the Ford Edge safety the to potential damage and injuries to the other vehicle or pedestrian that could be hit by these recall Ford Edges with NO repairs in site or parts being made

Recall notices sent out September 2025, no updates have been provided. I have contacted the dealer for additional support, and they just can confirm parts are not available. One of the recalls is for potential leaks from a flexible break line; seem that in six months parts would be available for something as serious as a break line; even the recall states it could lead to loss of breaking resulting in an accident.

TWO NHTSA NOTIFICATIONS RECEIVED IN SEPTEMBER 2025 AND HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED BY FMC REGARDING REPAIRS. HAVE CONCERNS WITH BRAKE LINE RECALL AND AT CURRENT TIME HAVE COMPLETELY BLURRED CAMERA, AND UNABLE TO VIEW REAR CAMERA WHILE BACKING UP. CONTACT LOCAL DEALER REGARDING REPAIRS BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIRS UNTIL FMC NOTIFICATIONS. HOW LONG DOES FMC HAVE TO MAKE REPAIRS ONCE NOTIFIED BY NHTSA?

There are two safety recalls for my car. Service brakes and rear camera. The camera stopped working four years ago. I took it to ford, they said we can replace it for $1500. However, now they don’t have the parts. What kind of scam is Ford and nhtsa doing? The brake line recall was first reported over four years ago, I know this because I received a letter back then. I was told by the Chapman ford, I nj, that when the parts come in they would contact me. Well that never happened. Again what kind of scam is being run here. I’m 73, I really need this camera repaired, I can’t afford $1500. So when are these parts available. A letter should be sent to all the people with an eta when parts will be available for recalls. I have 2 manufacture RECALLS………. -1st recall is very recent “NHTSA Safety Recall 22V413……….waiting on Ford to distribute the parts to dealerships. -2nd recall is from 2020 “Front Brake Flexible Hose Leaks”………I’ve contacted 4 local Ford Dealers in the Jackson area, TN…….and NO ONE HAS THE BREAK HOSES. ITS BEEN 2 years!”!”! I’ll be seeking legal advice….I’m in fear of driving my car…. My neighbor who has the same model car had BOTH Brake Hoses break while she was driving. She literally had no brakes while in traffic. Can you help me??

MY 2017 FORD EDGE WITH A 4 CYLINDER 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE AND 81,000 MILES NEEDS A NEW ENGINE, AS PER MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. I RECENTLY HAD COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE THROUGH THE CYLINDERS. ALL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORK, INCLUDING OIL CHANGES, HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN REQUIRED. Daytona beach Automall DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOTALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $5500. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WITH FORD ECOBOOST ENGINES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF IT FOR YEARS. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE SINCE MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THEN IT'S THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT WHEN THEY HAVE KNOWN FOR SOME TIME THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE.

ON MY 2017 FORD EDGE THE EPB MOTOR AND ABS MODULE WENT OUT AT 62,000 MILES RESULTING IN BRAKES DRAGGING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE WITH THE DANGER OF LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE ENGINE IS A 4 CYLINDER 2 LITER ECOBOOST AND HAS BEEN LEAKING COOLANT INTO CYLINDER NUMBER 2 CAUSING COOLANT LEVEL TO DROP AND THE ENGINE MISFIRING EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. FORD HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LOOK OUT FOR THESE PROBLEMS. THE ONLY REMEDY IS ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF AT LEAST $8,000.00. FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS FOR QUITE A LONG TIME BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND WILL NOT HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIR. I BELIEVE MY ENGINE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT APPROX. 61,500 MILES. I THINK FORD SHOULD BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT AS THE ENGINE HAS FAILED BEFORE 62,000 MILES. A CAR ENGINE SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS OF DOZENS OF SIMILAR CASES OF THE ECOBOOST ENGINES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND BELEIVE IT HAS A DESIGN FLAW.

The 2.0 ecoboost engine 2017 Ford Edge Titanium coolant leaking into many places. White smoke coming from exhaust flooding into the streets I have been told the Long block issue as well. The vehicle was at an independent service center where it sat for over three weeks while they worked hard trying to find the issues. Finally they advised me to get a second opinion through Ford which I did for over $300 for the same inspection. They have given me an outrageous estimate of over $16,000 to repair the issues. This is a common issue with this particular engine. I have read numerous complaints since purchasing it . Ford needs to be held accountable for all these defective engines they have yet to recall these dangerous vehicles. My vehicle is currently sitting in storage because it is inoperable. I’m still making loan payments on this defective vehicle. I have reached out to Ford many times for assistance and they have turned me away. I will soon have to file a Lawsuit against Ford if they do not come forward and resolve this issue. I will never ever purchase another Ford.

2.0 eco boost motor. Intrusion of coolant into the 1st and 2nd cylinder. Superior warranty and Ford company refuse to take any responsibility of this issue. It is a known issue and it has cost me $6624 and it is hard enough to have to buy 2nd hand car but 3 days after this issue arises. As is vehicle. Ford should be liable. 111k miles at time of repair. Started as fuel issues per Starks where bought car to spark plugs and coils to motor and fly wheel.

My 2007 Ford Edge / 2.0 Ecoboost engine model (with only 69,000+ miles) had a distinct unsettling shake upon starting, and would occur occasionally during regular driving - causing Check Engine light to appear. Ford dealership inspected and verified that "coolant leaked into the 3rd cylinder - causing a crack in the engine - and only remedy is a total engine replacement." Obviously now an unsafe vehicle to drive. Upon my research / lengthy investigation, I found hundreds of similar failures with this model (to include 2015-2018 Ford Edges with 2.0 Ecoboost engine). Models with this engine version will eventually fail - usually around the 70,000 mile average landmark (which is ironically slightly out of from Ford's 60,000 warranty coverage - rendering this "not covered" by Ford) - and Ford has apparently known this for years. Ford's choices / options offered to me (and upon reading, hundreds of others) center on my being responsible for paying for the replacement - making me responsible for the cost (quoted price from the dealer was around $8200.00) on a vehicle with only 69,000+ miles on it - with a flawed engine design that Ford has been aware of. Was told (in similar if not exact terms) that they aren't responsible for the replacement cost because "There is no Recall on this", and "you are out of warranty" (but by less than 10,000 miles). Or another option is "you can trade it in" (for substantially below what it used to worth). In addition to my being responsible for the cost, the Edge is now worth less than what it was, as if I resell it, I'll need to disclose the problem - and engine replacement. In summary, this is not only unacceptable on the surface, but morally reprehensible. A recall on this (and other similar models), making Ford responsible to costs regarding this well known engine flaw is the right course of action not on for myself, but for the (at least) hundreds with the same problem - and thousands that will eventually have the problem. Thank you.

Engine coolant getting into cylinders with symptoms of coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, rough running engine, and engine light on. This leads to rapid loss of coolant. I need to refill the coolant at the end of each day of driving, creating a potential further engine damage and risk of fire. A Ford dealership inspected the vehicle and determined these facts to be the case. The repair they deemed necessary is a new long block -- on my vehicle of only 45,000 miles -- at a price of $8,500.

2017 Ford Edge - we were driving along at approximately 50 mph when all of a sudden the vehicle lost power and it slowed down very fast. The car in back of us almost hit us! We limped along until we could shut the car off. It cleared up temporarily but happened twice on way to local mechanic. His engine analyzer did not show anything and the car ran fine for a couple of weeks so I thought maybe there had been some bad gasoline. Then it happened again several times. It was this second series of incidents when we almost had a crash. In driving 10 miles to return to the local mechanic it decelerated 5 times and stalled each time. Now both the check engine light and the wrench warning lights come on. The mechanic's engine analyzer now shows the throttle body is defective. Since he does not have the part in stock we are still waiting to have it repaired. A Ford service dealer has not yet looked at the car. I may now take it to a Ford dealer but getting there is risky.

AFTER REFUELING AT A BP SERVICE STATION, I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE FUEL NOZZLE FROM THE FUEL FILLER DOOR. I DIDN'T WANT TO FORCE THE REMOVAL OF THE NOZZLE SO I CALLED FORD ROAD SIDE ASSIST. AFTER TRYING THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS THEY SUGGESTED HAVING THE CAR TOWED. I EXPLAINED THE CAR CANNOT BE TOWED BECAUSE THE NOZZLE WAS STUCK IN THE DOOR. THEY SUGGESTED I CALL THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE AS WELL AND HAD NO FIX. THE BP ATTENDANT HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE AND SUGGESTED I TAKE THE EDGE OF A SCISSOR WHICH SHE SUPPLIED AND WEDGE IT BETWEEN THE NOZZLE AND DOOR. IT WORKED. THE NOZZLE RELEASED FROM THE DOOR. THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST FILL UP AS MY CAR HAS ONLY 344 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. *TR

Vehicle: 2017 Ford Edge Issue: Sudden loss of power / Transmission failure Safety Concern: Loss of acceleration at highway speeds Complaint Description: I am submitting this complaint due to a serious safety issue with my 2017 Ford Edge. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle began hesitating when I pressed the accelerator. While traveling on the highway, the car accelerated to approximately 60 mph and then suddenly dropped to around 40 mph, despite continued pressure on the accelerator pedal. The check engine light illuminated. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and was informed that the transmission had failed and required replacement. This is a major safety concern. The unexpected and uncontrollable reduction in speed while traveling on a highway created a dangerous driving situation for me and other motorists. A sudden loss of power like this can easily lead to rear-end collisions and serious accidents, especially in fast-moving traffic where other drivers have no warning and do not anticipate a vehicle rapidly decelerating. I believe this issue poses a significant safety risk and request that NHTSA investigate this problem to help prevent potential crashes and protect drivers and the public.

I took my Ford Edge in as the engine was making a loud rattling noise, i was told i had a cracked Flex plate and Ford will only cover half. I was NEVER notified of this recall and now i am in charge of paying 50% of a SAFETY issue because of Ford's mistake. I am now not able to drive my car advised by the mechanic because of this safety issue. This is a program by Ford and should be a recall. I should not be stuck paying 50% for something Ford messed up and am now not able to drive my vehicle as it was deemed unsafe. I also should not be paying 50% of something because Ford never legally notified me.

My Ford Edge SE Flex plate broke while on the highway I was rapidly slowing down and could not get over cause of cars passing me on the right and left causing the vehicle behind me to almost rear ending me. I had it towed to the Ford dealership and he has confirmed it is the flex plate that broke. There was a rattling sound approximately a week prior to it breaking I had an appointment with the dealership the same day it broke and got towed in.

Brought car with 54k miles. Went to dealer 1 month before warranty ended. I was told there were specific problems which I fixed. I later went back a few months later and was told it’s the battery. The Check engine light came back on a month later. I was told Coolant is leaking into the engine requiring you to need new engine. It’s dangerous because car won’t go over 20 mph. Even if you push gas you can’t go faster. Smoke coming out of exhaust. Smell is toxic. There is no explanation as to why this happens.

Transmission, coolant infusion to engine Emissions, long block torqu converter failed even though i had multiple appointments to have this and the other recalls done they always canceled the appointments due to lack of parts or they were backed up in the service department. I had the majority of all (the works) oil changes done at the dealership unless they were weeks out, I complained of engine running hot and knocking sounds back in 2021, needed to be jumped every few months 2022 I was always told this was normal for a edge ecoboost with the cold weather package, they did check the battery which was fine, when the engine light came on I took it right in only to be told to make a appointment, soon after I started to lose power going up sm hills, I was told I needed new tires after this oil change and I even ended up with a nail in my time from their repair shop, 3 weeks later no engine light denied my appointment, tried to show codes from local repair shop i waa told its normal make a appointment, i questioned if its safe to drive i was told yes absolutely engine light back on the next day took it back in again told to make a appointment 2.5 weeks later no engine light on but I showed them the codes I was pulling for miss firing that I pulled multiple times at different intervals when I felt something was wrong but they didn't have a appointment to check themselves i was then told my computer reader was not accepted due to inaccurate readings made yet another attempt for a appointment, the next day I get in my car and start driving and I get a warning the car was reducing power due to over heating.it took 2 different tow trucks to get it to the dealership i have been complaining about these issues for well over 2 years only to be told I don't know what I am talking about or that it was perfectly normal if its so "normal" then why do they have a customer satisfaction program 22n12 that list my car yet denied me any assistance besides paying for the recall issues

HAPPENS EVERY TIME I BRAKE. HITTING THE BRAKE TO STOP ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AS I COME TO A STOP. IN ADDITION TO VIOLENT ENGINE SHAKING THE CAR IS THRUSTING FORWARD. I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT HARDER ON THE BRAKE NOT TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I WILL HAVE TO THROW IT IN NEUTRAL TO STOP THE SHAKING. IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE REVS. WHEN TRAFFIC BEGINS TO MOVE I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND HIT THE GAS BUT THEN IT LAGS SEVERELY. IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE FOR MULTIPLE SECONDS BEFORE IT FINALLY TAKES OFF. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENS EVERYTIME I STOP AND GO. IF YOU ARE IN PARK AND HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TOO LONG BEFORE PUTTING IN A GEAR IT STALLS OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND OPENED A CASE WITH FORD CORPORATION WHO BOTH DEEMED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE, BUT NEITHER WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE AND FORD HAS DENIED TO ASSIST WITH GETTING IT FIXED TWICE. THERE ARE SO MANY UNSAFE 2017 FORD EDGE TRANSMISSIONS. I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. IT'S VERY SCARY TO DRIVE. MY DOCUMENTS ARE IN THE FORD COMPUTER SYSTEM. THEY SAY THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP AND RHE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. I'VE ALMOST BEEN HIT SO MANY TIMES PULLING OUT BECAUSE THE CAR DOESN'T GO.

I drove the car to go shopping and when I returned, I could not pull the seat belt out to put it on. I drove home without the belt on. The next day, it worked fine... until I went out again and it locked up on me again. I looked online for recalls and there were some for my type vehicle so called the Ford dealership and was given an appt for almost a week later. They confirmed the part was defective and said it would cost $708. to fix it because my Vin number was not under the recall, yet it is the same issue. They still have my vehicle because they are charging me $99. for diagnostic fees and I can't drive it without my seat belt.

I NOTIFIED THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY, APRIL 12, THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SCHEDULED ME TO BRING THE EDGE IN ON APRIL 22. ON FURTHER INSPECTION I FOUND THE SEATBELT BUCKLE TO BE BROKEN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN AND LEAVE IT TO BE SERVICED. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE SEATBELT BUCKLE AND FOUND IT INOPERABLE DUE TO THE INNER GUTS OF THE BUCKLE BEING BROKEN. A REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN ORDERED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND THIS OCCURRED WITH NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. THE EDGE HAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000 MILES.

PLEASE SEE ATTACHED LETTER This complaint is being submitted due to gross negligence in recall communication and manufacturer accountability. This failure in vehicle safety oversight that has already resulted in emotional and financial harm. In September of this year, I submitted an application for a buy-back option to Ford but was denied. This application/request was assigned a case number by Ford: cxh05566445w6s6x2 My vehicle has four unresolved safety recalls, two of which directly caused two accident that could—and should—have been prevented had I been notified of the known safety risks. I did not receive recall notices until after both of the accidents occurred, which demonstrates a systemic failure by the manufacturer, Ford. This negligence is not only irresponsible—it violates basic safety obligations to consumers and the public. I request immediate action from NHTSA to investigate this matter and enforce compliance. A description of the incidents and associated recalls that have incurred are described on the following page. Additionally, just last week while driving on a rural road, my vehicle’s transmission unexpectedly shifted from standard Drive into Sport mode (“S”) on its own without any input from me. This sudden and uncommanded gear change created a dangerous driving situation, and I strongly believe this may be another serious safety defect that has yet to be acknowledged or recalled by the manufacturer. 1. NHTSA Recall Number: 25V572 Recall Date: September 8, 2025 Manufacturer Recall Number: 25S89 Incident Date: January 2025 Incident Description: In January 2025, while backing out of my driveway, the rear-view camera suddenly displayed a distorted image and failed to detect a large tree directly behind my vehicle, causing me to reverse into it. This was not a minor inconvenience—this safety failure could have resulted in serious injury or worse had a child, pedestrian, or another vehicle been behind me at the time. I often have my children and neighborhood kids near my driveway, and I relied on Ford’s safety systems to operate as designed. Instead, the defect caused property damage and has now rendered the rear safety system completely unreliable. The rear camera now constantly beeps as if something is behind the vehicle even when nothing is there, meaning I no longer have any way to know when a real hazard is present—creating an ongoing and dangerous safety risk. Ford did not issue a recall for this exact failure until nine months after I experienced it and suffered damage. Recall Summary and Safety Risk: THE REAR-VIEW CAMERA COULD DISPLAY A BLANK OR DISTORTED IMAGE ON THE CENTER DISPLAY SCREEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE. A REAR-VIEW CAMERA THAT DISPLAYS A BLANK OR DISTORTED IMAGE WHILE IN REVERSE CAN REDUCE OR DISTORT THE DRIVERS VIEW OF WHAT IS BEHIND THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. 2. NHTSA Recall Number: 25V544 Recall Date: August 25, 2025 Manufacturer Recall Number: 25S87 Incident Date: May 2, 2025 Incident Description: On May 2, 2025, while driving with my children in the car, the brakes suddenly failed without warning, leaving me unable to stop as we approached traffic ahead. To avoid a collision that could have seriously injured or killed us or other motorists, I was forced to veer off the roadway, scraping and damaging the side of my vehicle in the process. This was a terrifying and traumatic experience, especially with my children in the vehicle—we could have been hit head-on or rear-ended at full speed due to this critical brake failure. I immediately drove the car, as carefully as possible, to the nearest repair shop, where I was informed that the brake hose line had ruptured and was leaking. I had no choice but to pay out of pocket for the brake repair just to make the vehicle drivable again. However, like the previous incident, I am still unable to afford repairs to the body damage caused by this safety failure. It is unacceptable that a known safety defect—one capable of causi

My adaptive steering light came on and my steering wheel turned to the left like I am turning left. I am on social security and can not afford to pay 4000 dollars to have this fixed. Ford has a recall on 2017 edges for this. All these steering wheels are made just alike. This vin# should be included in the recall. I do not want to have an accident due to them not fixing this vehicle. Please help me with this. Thank you.

Took my car to my mechanic said that coolant was draining into my 2.0 ecoboost engine in cylinder 4 causing misfire, white smoke to come out of my pipes, sweet antifreeze smell in the cabin. Have to constantly dump coolant into the car so that it doesn't over heat.when i start the car in the morning it acts as if the car is going to die if I don't hit the gas. Contacted ford, they said it was my problem. I bought the car a year ago. It started at about 72000 miles.
Jan 07, 2025
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The Engine had to be replaced due to coolant and oil leaking through the 4th cylinder into the engine itself, effectively killing it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -The car unexpectedly shook very violently, and would not properly accelerate due to the problem. Smoke clouded the street as I drove to the repair shop - and other drivers were worried for mine and others safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -The problem was confirmed by an independent mechanic as well as a Ford dealer, who told me this is a common occurrence with this specific engine, though there is no recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -The Ford dealer inspected the engine and came to the same conclusion as the independent mechanic - the engine had suffered an intrusion of oil and coolant through the 4th cylinder which effectively killed the engine. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -The check engine light had been on for around a year prior. Also, the acceleration had been getting weaker and weaker.

The component that failed was the long block and is currently available for inspection. The date when the issue 1st appeared was Nov 20 2023. The issue has since been isolated as a coolant leak in my cylinders and Ford is very aware of the issue and has a TSB 22-2229 discussing some of the symptoms. The coolant intrusion compromised the motors ability to react to demand for power. The vehicle shakes while idling and has faltered when trying to gain entry onto on-ramps for I-20. The failure of the vehicle to meet the power requirements asked of it to merge and the sudden loss of power nearly left my vehicle rear ended with both my toddler and my teenager present. The check engine light illuminated showing a code of P0301 for a cylinder 1 miss-fire. All 4 spark plugs were replaced in an attempt to fix the issue. The check engine light came on again within 48 hours after the repair was made. During the next inspection the coolant level was noted as low. Coolant was added at that time and cylinder 1 coil pack was replaced to fix the issue. The check engine light came on again and coolant was once again low within 48 hours of the 2nd repair. Ford’s service bulletin TSB 22-2229 addressing the known coolant intrusion issue for the 2015-mid 2019 Ford Edge was presented as the needed repair. This engine failure poses a risk for the car owner, occupants, and surrounding bystanders. It has a fire risk, power failure risk, and quite possible a loss of life risk. Repairs will be made by the local Ford dealership within the week.

After putting gas in the vehicle, the vehicle was acting sluggish. It did not want to start and after it did it wasn't going full speed. I proceeded to leave the gas station and no sooner did the vehicle started to sputter and 'died' while making a U-turn. I am afraid that this will cause in accident if not remedied. I don't understand that off the Ford Focus was having this issue why is this not on recall for this vehicle. I will be calling and writing to Ford on this issue. I would like this to be mentioned and I took my vehicle to Yeoman Ford of The Villages in Belleview. This is disgraceful how a part can be defective and yet not covered in another vehicle with the same issue. I would like for A Supervisor to help with this problem to please and thank you.

Both rear tires have what our Ford dealer called "unusual tread wear." The tires are under a 50,000 mile warranty; however, Hankook has refused to honor the prorated replacement tires covered by their warranty. Furthermore, Hankook has been aware for several years this particular model of tires has odd tread issues, yet they continue to put their defective and dangerous product out on the road. The specific tire is the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 245/50%20 102V Multiple attempts have been made to have Hankook uphold their warranty without success. Clearly they will not voluntarily recall this product. The public needs to be made aware of what they are driving on. NOTE: There is no specific date of incident, as this is an on-going issue. On 08/17/22 I took my car into Bill Collins because there was a loss of coolant, and my SUV was acting up. It was jerking randomly. At the time the SUV was noted to have 63,860 miles. Dealership fixed recalls on vehicle and did a pressure test and said there was a water pump leak. Replaced water pump and gasket. Check engine light remained on and when asked dealership about it they said in order to get the check engine light off it would have to go to another part of the dealership, and we would be charged another $99 diagnostic fee. On 11/21/22 SUV was taken back to Bill Collins because it was still doing the same thing. This time you could also hear water moving/draining from behind the dash and the check engine light was still on. Dealership fixed another recall showing on vehicle and said that the water pump had air pocket. Sent home but sputtering engine was not fixed. 12/08/22 contacted dealership again to let them know that nothing they have done over the past several months has worked and SUV is still acting up. Was told they would have a higher up mechanic look at vehicle to see what the issue was. Dealership contacted us two days later stating that vehicle needs a new motor. Current mileage 67,883. Dealership stated they verified coolant intrusion into cylinder and that it is necessary to replace the long block. Exact verbiage from dealership employee. (Coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. Verified defective engine block. Coolant leaking internally.) My SUV has been in and out of Bill Collins Ford for the past 4 months and no one could figure out the problem. Yet, when we spoke to Bill Collins about the new motor, we were told at that time that this is a known issue. Yet, no one mentioned it for 4 months and I've been driving my vehicle in this condition? I work for Ford and have supported Ford for the past 7 years. I am wanting to understand how Ford is going to make this right.

Beginning in January 2026, the vehicle exhibited progressive symptoms including repeated lurching and difficulty shifting gears. These symptoms are consistent with the open and incomplete recall for the transmission shifter cable bushing and the powertrain control module reprogram. On or around March 25–26, 2026, while operating the vehicle at approximately 35 mph on a surface street, the following failure sequence occurred: the vehicle began producing a repetitive thudding sensation (thud-thud-thud), followed by violent shaking of the steering wheel, followed by a complete loss of steering response. The vehicle drifted uncontrollably into an adjacent lane of active traffic under clear, dry weather conditions — a loss of control consistent with brake hose failure causing uneven braking force, compounded by the known transmission and PCM defects. Collision with another vehicle was narrowly avoided. The vehicle currently has five open, incomplete recalls: (1) front brake flexible hose leak, (2) rear brake flexible hose leak, (3) transmission shifter cable bushing, (4) rear-view camera inspection, (5) powertrain control module reprogram. None have been completed. The described failure is consistent with and likely caused by these unresolved manufacturing defects. But the Owner has attempted multiple times to bring the vehicle to Ford but was turned away due to dealer capacity. No loaner vehicle was offered.

I am trying to file a complaint about no parts for recalls. I have had three recalls on this vehicle and none of them has been rectified due to no parts available. I'm trying to find out why we cannot get parts to fix the transmission bell housing or the brake hoses on these recall notices? I also have a recall for the rear camera. I'm not sure if these recalls are just for my information, or if they ever intend to get parts? The transmission recall is from several years back, and now the recall quit showing up. I guess it magically took care of itself. Thank you.

My car loses power when I press the gas. For example, I can come to a stop, wait until it’s safe to turn in front of another car, then try to take off — but the vehicle suddenly loses all power. It won’t accelerate, and I have to keep pressing the gas and hope it goes. Sometimes I have to pull over, put it in park, turn the car off, and restart it before it will drive again. This also happens on the freeway. When this issue happens, the car also shifts very hard afterward, causing it to jump forward. This makes the vehicle extremely unsafe — especially when I am trying to turn in front of cars moving at high speed and my car suddenly loses all power. I have taken the vehicle in five times for the same issue, but the Ford dealership has not been able to repair it. I have also called Ford’s corporate office, but they said they cannot help. I opened a case with the BBB as well, and they advised me to open a case with you. At this point, I am at a complete loss with this issue. I travel with my two kids in the car, and I am honestly afraid to drive it — but I have no other vehicle.

I bought this car used from Honda Dealership. It had 84,000 mileage on it and since then. The headlights are so dim and I can’t see you have to drive with high beam on every time I go at night I’ve changed almost we like 56 different types light bulb, but still nothing still worst. If I used one for the manufacturer one it’s nothing it’s literally dark outside. I can’t see nothing and another problem is as the ball joint since I bought it I took it from my first oil change when they did the inspection on the car they told me one of my passenger side ball joint was loose but that time I didn’t have money to repair it because it was almost $5000 they said and I was like I don’t have the money. I’m a college student so and recently my car wheel is to the left side more. Something if there’s anything I can do is there anything y’all can do to help cause I don’t want to get in an accident because of that thing.

The rear camera started to turn into a blue screen and sometimes it looked like static. We were told to go to Ford to change the camera (2020 or 2021?). After paying over $900 to fix the camera it broke yet again. We were 3 months past the 2 year warranty and was told if we wanted it fixed we would have to pay again. Now sometimes the camera works when backing out and sometimes its just solid blue. It is available for inspection upon request. This is risky because sometimes there are blind spots when turning our heads to ensure we are not going to hit a pedestrian. Also it takes me twice as long to reverse park due to having to use my mirrors to see the lines which causes drivers to honk or appear restless because I'm not fast enough which could cause me to crash into a parked vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by a dealership which is why they told us to replace it, but now they want us to replace it yet again. No warning lights. The vehicle no longer detects if objects are nearby. This happened shortly before the camera went out. They quoted us on fixing it and we refused due to cost. The vehicle drivers seat cooling and heating no longer works. It works for the passenger, but not the driver. This happened in 2019.

I have been fixing my brakes and rotors every 4 months. 3 times my brake line has busted. The first time there was a recall and it was fixed. The second time I almost died had to hop a curb to stop I had my baby in the car with me. Ford apologized and gave me a free extended platinum warranty and fixed the problem. This last time I was pulling out of the pharmacy and my peddle went straight to the floor and I couldn't stop I was luckily in a empty parking lot. I keep having problems with the brakes and loud squealing noises. I stopped going to the dealership because they said I drive alot and need new breaks every 4 months, when I shouldn't need breaks every couple thousand miles. I'm being tooken advantage of. I can't afford to keep getting brakes and rotors. I'm a single mom on disability. I just got new break pads and rotors and calipers a month ago. I brought my truck into a mechanic to clean the break parts because my rims are so dirty and the squealing is so loud and when I come to a complete stop my truck feels hesitant. The mechanic cleaned & greased my pads and calipers and out some red paste said that should help but it didn't. This is absolutely insanity. Something is wrong. This is the 2nd time my passenger seat belt has stopped working and my air bag light is on. I can't afford to take it back to the dealership and pay 100s of dollars. This has been a repeating problem for years with the breaks. 5 years to be exact. And 8 months ago I fixed the seatbelt.

This means coolant is in my engine which can cause irreparable damage to my engine. It is over $9k for me to fix. This is a devastating design flaw. Also, the backup camera freezes, and the backup warning sytem stops when the camera freezes, which can cause an accident

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal grinding sounds. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed, causing metal shavings to enter the engine. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was unavailable.

I bought a brand new Ford Edge in 2017 with a warranty of 5 years and 60,000 miles. Several weeks ago, my car turned the engine light on and began having difficulty staying on during idle time and at stop signs. Immediately, I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the problem of a leakage of coolant into the cylinders. They quoted me for an amount greater than the trade in value of the vehicle. From my online research, other customers are having the same leakage recurrent issue for Ford Edges between 2016-2023. The dealer could not tell me the reason behind this leakage causing the engine to overheat. This coolant leakage happening to a lot of their vehicles is putting individuals in danger of fire, explosion, or the vehicle stopping at any movement even while driving. There is absolutely no indication that this leakage was caused by poor maintenance or excessive wear and tear, and this is a recurring issue on their cars. I am afraid to drive the vehicle and cause an explosion or a fire on the road. However, Ford dealerships across the country are sending individuals on their way with defective engines without addressing the reason why new cars are having coolant leakage and having to replace the entire engine. It is Ford's responsibility to acknowledge defective parts and stop putting customers in danger. The component Ford is saying needs repair is the long block and it can be available for inspection if needed.

Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX] . - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership to take the vehicle in) - There were no warning indications of any potential problem prior to my experience yesterday Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and instructions on how I should proceed. When the vehical was brought to us by 2 sales person , one sales guy told us that everything was good to go that the only issue there was on the car was that they did not have the code to the doors in case we couldn't get in . The same night we noticed that the lights inside were not going off we tried to press buttons to have them go off and nothing, then all of a sudden the lights automatically turned off. As we continued to drive the vehicle we got to our destination ( our home) we got off locked the doors and turned alarm on and we noticed that the lights were still on and couldn't understand why the tailgate/trunk was showing that it was opened when we never had not opened it. When we tried to open it it wouldn't let us. You could hear it trying to open but nothing. Again we assumed that the lights would turn off but the next morning I called and left messages and even on their personal phones asking them to please call me back that it was in regards to the vehical. 9am 10am 11am I got a text back and I had to explain everything over a text. Not once did they ever attempt to make a conversation phone call but to help with the issue on 'getting into ur vehical when the battery is dead I was sent a YouTube link and yet I kindly had asked for a home visit because the main cause for the battery to have drained was because the back door indicator light states that the back door is open but really it was jammed but I got no help from anyone from the dealership. Everytime I called we would get the runaround that they will have someone get in touch with us. But nothing .this is not the only issue we have had with the car there is also a rattling noise coming from either the engine or the front tires again we called them to inform them and yet again the message we got from the car place was that they will have someone be in contact with us shortly but nothing .

Under acceleration the vehicle will sometimes enter into limp mode. Vehicle will violently brake and come to a halt and the driver can only accelerate up to +/-5MPH to be able to pull off to the side of the road. The deceleration when this happens is sudden and violent. During this event the steering wheel is difficult to turn. ALL dash warning and fault lights flash during the malfunction. You have to pull over, shut the vehicle off, and then restart. This has happened with our two kids in the vehicle while merging onto a freeway. I have brought it to Ford 4 times. The first time they said a harness was loose and they fixed it. Other times they blamed my use of a narrower diameter winter tire, but it happens with the stock wheels as well. The malfunction continues to happen. They have not been able to duplicate the issue, so they asked me to drive around with a OBD2 scanner attached. When the malfunction happens, no error codes are reported. The Ford technician said that if it were their vehicle, they would not drive it with their children in the car. Ford has had the vehicle for almost a month now and have requested we pick it up because they cannot duplicate the malfunction and have suggested that I drive until it happens again, which is pointless as the malfunction does not trigger an error code. My wife refuses to drive the car, especially with our children in it. I have talked to Ford corporate, and they said they would escalate, but now they are not returning my emails or answering their phones. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. It may be helpful to know that when I first started bringing the vehicle in for this malfunction, it was still 100% under warranty. Thank you.

Moon roof glass cracked on its own, looks like a spider web. Afraid that glass cracks will continue to grow and begin leaking or worse chip off shards that could possibly cut skin. Has not been inspected by dealer, police, manufacturer or insurance. No warning lights or any other symptoms or indications - simply opened the roof cover one day & discovered the cracked glass. The moon roof electrical slide functions properly, it’s just the glass that is the issue.

I am told my APIM module needs to be replaced. My touch screen will go black and then come back on. I am unable to use handsfree phone due to system not staying connected to my bluetooth. The radio will not turn off or on and sometimes will come on and be blaring while driving. The GPS does not work at all and if it decides to even show up on the screen will not follow streets at all. The warning sounds and lights will go off randomly while driving even if I am not close to something on the sides of my car. My backup cameras do not work all the time. The cruise control will not keep distance and will stop working randomly. The entire touch screen will not respond to any touch. These items are very distracting and unsafe at best. There has been no accidents to cause these problems. The manufacturer has not been able to help me locate any replacement parts despite pre-paying for the expensive module. I have been waiting 6 weeks without anyone being able to tell me when a module is expected. Meanwhile I do not know what else will stop working on my car. Ford has had a history of problems with the APIM modules and there was even a class action suit that was won by the consumer for the same thing in Lincoln vehicles. I just want the part and for my car to be fixed.

Car's brakes went to floor when engaged. Driver pumped them several times to slow car. Engine light came on; took car to mechanic and brake repair was made, but engine light kept appearing. Then the car would not crank and was towed to the mechanic and the battery was replaced. Finally, the car's body/wheels appeared to be shaking when driving and the engine light appeared again. Car was taken to a Ford repair center where service department informed us that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leak. The car is driveable but unsafe and requires expensive engine replacement. After doing research, this appears to be a well known problem with the Ford Edge and consumers aren't receiving adequate information about the extent of the problem or safety concerns. A recall needs to be issued for this defect and Ford needs to take responsibility to fix the problem.

FRST NOTICED IN NOVEMBER THE CAR WOULD NOT GENERATE HEAT WHILE AT IDLE. THIS PREVENTED DEFROSTING OF WINDSHIELD. NOTICED HEAT WOULD RETURN AT HIGHER REVS, BUT THIS ALSO DECREASED. NOTICED FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW ADDED ANTIFREEZE AND HEAT RETURNED SOMEWHAT BUT NOT AT IDLE. CAR HAS 36,200 MILES, JUST OFF WARRANTY. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD SINCE DRIVINGIN WINTER REQUIRES A FUNCTIONING DEFROSTER. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF OUTWARD LEAKS, OR A ODER OF COOLANT IN THE CABIN FROM THE HEAT CORE. IT IS NOW JANUARY, AND I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO LACK OF HEAT AND RISK OF DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW WITH 10 MILES DRIVEN ONLY 14 MONTHS AGO. AT 3100 MILES IT LOST ALL ELECTRIC/ELECTRONIC/ENGINE POWER AS I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES ON A CITY STREET WITH TRAFFIC! THE ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE WRENCH LIGHT AND DINGING SOUNDS FLASHED; THE VEHICLE DECREASED IN SPEED, AND SHUT DOWN, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE STREET INTO AN OPEN DRIVEWAY PRIOR TO ITS COMPLETE STOP OF THE VEHICLE FROM LOSS OF ALL POWER! THEN THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER; IGNITION WOULD NOT START; NO LIGHTS, NO POWER OF ANY KIND. AFTER CALLING FORD SERVICE HOTLINE, AND ABOUT 2.5 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK IN THE HOT HEAT, I TRIED THE IGNITION - THE POWER WAS BACK. NEVERTHELESS, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. THE NEXT DAY THEIR DIAGNOSTICS AND TWO TEST DRIVES 'FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE'. I INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT WYATT JOHNSON FORD, JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM, DOESN'T NEGATE THE FACT THAT SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE TO STOP ABRUPTLY AS IT DID; LIKE A COMPUTER SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH DIRE CONSEQUENCES AND WANT TO REPORT THIS HAZARDOUS PROBLEM TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY! THERE ARE NO PICTURES TO ACCOMPANY THIS COMPLAINT. I AWAIT SOME INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO SHARED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH FORD, NISSAN AND OTHER VEHICLES. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED AS THERE ARE DIRTY SMUDGES ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VISOR.
