WHILE I WAS PASSING SLOW TRUCK IN TWO HIGHWAY TRYING TO GET BACK IN THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK ONE OF THE FRONT TIRES EXPLODED I LOST CONTROL OF THE 1994 FORD EXPLORER GOT ON THE DIRT THE CAR WAS AIRBORNE LANDED TURN GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES AND LANDED ON THE SIDE. *TR

RECALLED FIRESTONE ATX AND WILDERNESS TIRES. **NAR** *NJ THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH WHEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC TREAD BELT SEPARATION. THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AND SUBSEQUENTLY ROLLED WHICH CAUSED A FATAL HEAD INJURY TO A RESTRAINED 12 YEAR OLD OCCUPANT. IT WAS ALSO STATED THAT THE SPARE TIRES WERE ALSO DEFECTIVE AND THEY TOO SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM VEHICLES. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD COMPLETE TREAD-SEPARATION, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE, LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE, AND FLATTENING THE REAR LEFT TIRE. ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION, IT REMAINS INFLATED. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE, AS WELL AS ALL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, HAD PLENTY OF TREAD LEFT, PASSING BOTH THE PENNY AND QUARTER TEST, WERE PROPERLY INFLATED, AND SHOW NO CRACKING OR WEARING. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE NORTH AMERICA TIRE ABOUT A NOTICE REGARDING THE SAFETY OF TIRES. THE 1994 FORD EXPLORER ORIGINALLY CAME WITH P235/75R 15 RADIAL ATX. TODAY I TRIED TO RETURN THE TIRE, ORIGINAL SPARE, FOR A FREE REPLACEMENT AS STATED IN THE LETTER. HOWEVER I WAS TOLD BY AN AUTHORIZED FIRESTONE DEALER AT HAYWOOD MALL GREENVILLE SC THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN TERMINATED. THE LETTER FROM BRIDGESTONE FIRESTONE NORTH AMERICA DID NOT INDICATE AN END DATE. IN FACT THIS LETTER INDICATED THE COMPANY WAS TRYING TO ROOT OUT THE LAST REMAINING TIRE SPARES. THE DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL. AK

I DRIVE A 1994 FORD EXPLORER 4X4. MY COMPLAINT IS WITH THE FRONT BRAKES. WHEN THE INNER BRAKE PADS WEAR TO A CERTAIN POINT, THEY FALL OUT OF THE CHANNELS THAT THEY SLIDE IN CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER ASKED THE MIDAS MANAGER TO CHECK THE BRAKED BECAUSE HE FELT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THEM. EACH TIME THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. 1994 FORD EXPLORER HAD SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE AIR-CONDITIONER VENTS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, SLIGHT AT FIRST, THEN SO HEAVY THAT FORWARD VISIBILITY WAS OBSCURED. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, A SMALL FIRE WAS SEEN BURNING THE PLASTIC EVAPORATOR COVER WHERE THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR ASSEMBLY IS MOUNTED IN THE EVAPORATOR COVER. SOME SNOW THROWN ON THE FIRE PUT IT OUT. THE BLOWER MOTOR APPEARS TO BE SHORTED OR MAYBE JAMMED FROM ROTATING, CAUSING THE RESISTOR TO GET HOTTER THAN NORMAL, IGNITING THE PLASTIC COVER. MAYBE LEAVES OR OTHER FLAMMABLE DEBRIS CONTACTED THE RESISTOR, BUT I CAN'T TELL AS THE FLAMES BURNED UP ANYTHING IN THE AREA AROUND THE RESISTOR ASSEMBLY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP, IN SPITE OF VERY LIMITED VISIBILITY IN THE HEAVY SMOKE. I WAS ON A SLOW SPEED, LOW TRAFFIC CITY STREET. THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF THE FIRE OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE BLOWER MOTOR WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION WHEN I REMOVE AND REPLACE IT TO TRY AND GET THE AIR SYSTEM WORKING FOR HEAT AT LEAST. *TR

A WEEK AFTER THE PURCHASE, WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE STOPS, CAR COMES TO A HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, AND THE STEERING LOCKS. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A TRUCK. IT STARTS BACK ON AFTER FEW MINUTES. IT DOES NOT START IF HAZARDS, HEADLIGHTS OR ANY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS ARE ON. AFTER THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS ONCE AT NIGHT 12''O CLOCK. SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000.

THE SPARE TIRE IS SUPPORTED UNDER THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BY A STEEL CABLE SUPPORT SYSTEM. I WAS TRAVELING ON A FREEWAY AND HIT A BUMP. THE CABLE SUPPORTING THE SPARE TIRE BROKE. APPARENTLY THE CABLE HAD RUSTED AND BECAME WEAK. THE TIRE DROPPED ONTO THE ROAD SURFACE. THERE WAS A NUMBER OF VEHICLES DIRECTELY BEHIND ME AT THE TIME. THE TIRE BOUNCED APPROXIMATELY 3 - 4 FEET IN THE AIR IN FRONT THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY BEHIND MY VEHICLE. LUCKLY ALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES MISSED THE TIRE. THE TIRE ROLLED OFF OF THE ROAD AND INTO THE DITCH. AFTER RETURNING TO THE LOCATION OF WHERE THE TIRE DROPPED OFF THE VEHICLE, I SEARCHED THE ROAD AND DITCH, AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE SPARE TIRE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND CAN CAUSE VEHICLE DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURIES. AFTER REPORTING THE PROBLEM, AND ASKING ABOUT REPLACEMENT PARTS AT A LOCAL FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO INDICATE THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM. I OWN A 1994 FORD EXPLORER AND ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN THE LAST 18 MONTHS, SMOKE HAS POURED OUT OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM, SMELLING LIKE BURNING LEAVES. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY GAINESVILLE FORD AND THEY CLEANED OUT LEAVES FROM THE SYSTEM THAT APPARENTLY HAD BEEN SUCKED IN THROUGH THE AIR INTAKE. THEY CLEANED IT, BUT DID NOT FIX THE ROOT CAUSE. NOW, APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS LATER, I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. AGAIN, GAINESVILLE FORD CLEANED DEBRIS OUT OF THE SYSTEM, BUT HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO PREVENT RECURRENCE. I HAVE SPENT APPROXIMATELY $400 ON REPAIRS FOR BOTH OCCASIONS. FORD KNOWS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, BUT REFUSED TO MAKE ANY ALLOWANCES ON THE REPAIR COST AND WORSE YET, CONTINUE TO TAKE NO ACTION TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN AND AGAIN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 FORD EXPLORER. AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLOWLY GAINED SPEED AND THEN UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN MOMENTARILY, BUT DID NOT STOP COMPLETELY. THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 80 MPH AND THE REAR WHEELS BEGAN TO SMOKE, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ACCELERATING. HE MANAGED TO TURN THE KEY AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT THE RPM DIAL WAS IN THE RED ZONE. HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO HIS RESIDENCE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE THROTTLE PLATE WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. HE REPAIRED THE FAILURE ON HIS OWN, WITHOUT THE DEALER'S ASSISTANCE. I WAS BROWSING FOR A USED CAR AND CAME ON AN ADD SELLING CARS I HAD NO VEHICLE I ASKED IF THEY CAN PICK ME UP ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CLINTON FERRY. THEY SAID YES THEY WILL PICK ME UP. SO CHECKED OUT THEIR INVENTORY. I PICKED A 1994 FORD EXPLORER LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE BODY, TIRES NEEDED CHANGING, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HAS DAMAGE, AND REAR VIEW MIRROR WAS GONE. I ACCEPTED THESE AND ASKED FOR A TEST RIDE PROCEEDED OFF THE LOT THERE WAS NO GAS MAKING A TEST DRIVE SHORT. IT WAS AS IF THEY RUSHED ME THROUGH THE DEAL NOTHING WAS SAID ABOUT THE PROBLEMS. RETURNING HOME IS WHEN I BEGAN RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS THAT WERE SAFETY ISSUES. THE RPMS HAD GONE TO THE LIMITS OF SAFE OPERATION EXCEEDING 6,000 RPMS AND NOT SHIFTING TO A HIRE GEAR MAKING THE MOTOR SCREEN NEARLY EXPLODING THE MOTOR THIS IS CONSISTENT EVERY TIME YOU OPERATE. SO DROVE HOME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I ACCELERATED AND THEN LET OFF THE GAS AND IT THEN SHIFTED UP. I GAVE IT THE GAS IT SCREAMED AND I LET OFF THE GAS AND IT SHIFTED INTO THE HIGHER GEAR I ALSO HAVE STEERING PROBLEMS IT PULLS TO THE LEFT PULLING ME INTO ON GOING TRAFFIC, SHIMMIES AND THE TIE RODS CONNECTED TO THE STEERING HAD SOME PLAY IN THEM. SO WHEN I TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT I HAD NO STEERING UNTIL IT GOT TO CERTAIN POINT WHERE IT STEERED. THE VEHICLE FLOATS LIKE A BOAT A STRUT PROBLEM. NOW WHEN I WENT TO ESTIMATES FOR THE REPAIRS ITS PARTS AND LABOR CAME TOO ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT I PAID FOR THE TRUCK APPROXIMATELY 4,400.00. SO NOW I HAVE THIS TRUCK I REFUSE TO DRIVE. I TOLD THEM TO COME AND GET IT AND NO WAY WAS I GOING TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE TRUCK SO IT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY. I REFUSE TO PAY THEM ANY MONEY. THEY HAVEN'T CALLED ME, NOR MADE ANY DEAL.

I HAD THE SCARIEST THING HAPPEN TO ME LAST NIGHT . ON MY WAY HOME FROM MY IN-LAWS WITH MY TWO CHILDREN. MY 10 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER GOT OUT OF HER CAR SEAT. I HAVE A CENTURY MODEL 1165ONHS, MAN.062997, THAT WAS BOUGHT FOR MY 3 1/2 YEAR OLD SON AND WAS HANDED DOWN TO HER. THE SEAT IS IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER BUT SHE IS A BIT OF AN ACROBAT. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I LOOKED INTO MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW HER STANDING IN HER SEAT, FACING ME!!! I AM ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE I PUT HER IN HER SEAT BEFORE WE LEFT MY IN-LAWS A FEW MINUTES PRIOR TO HER ESCAPE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND TIGHTENED THE STRAP FROM THE BACK WITH THE BAR AND PUT HER BACK INTO HER CAR SEAT, KICKING AND SCREAMING MIND YOU. NOT A 1/2 MILE LATER, AS SHE WAS STILL SCREAMING, I NOTICED HER CRYING BECAME MUFFLED. IT WAS EVENING TIME SO I COULDN'T SEE HER IN THE MIRROR I INSTALLED ON THE SEAT IN FRONT OF HER. AGAIN, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND WAS TERRIFIED BY WHAT I SAW! SHE HAD AGAIN TWISTED OUT OF HER SEAT AND WAS BEING STRANGLED BY THE WHITE CLASP THAT HOLDS THE 2 STRAPS TOGETHER. SHE HAD TWISTED HERSELF AROUND, THROWN HE LEGS OUT OF THE SEAT TO HER RIGHT AND WAS HANGING BY THE CLASP. FROM HER WAIST DOWN, SHE WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF THE SEAT, HANGING OVER THE SIDE AND STUCK. I HAD MADE SURE THE CLASP WAS HIGH UP ON HER CHEST TO PREVENT HER FROM GETTING OUT, WHICH HAD PREVENTED ENOUGH ROOM FOR HER HEAD TO COME OUT. THE STRAPS WERE ALSO VERY TIGHT ON HER. THEY PULLED HER SHOULDERS DOWN WHEN I STRAPPED HER BACK IN. I THOUGHT THAT WOULD KEEP HER IN. IT DID NOT! THE THOUGHT THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD HAPPEN HAS NEVER CROSSED MY MIND. MY SON HAD NEVER ATTEMPTED ANYTHING LIKE THIS. IT SCARES ME TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WASN'T ABLE TO PULL OVER AS FAST AS I DID. THE FRONT TIRES HAVE SLITS IN THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WE HAD TEST DROVE IT AND WHEN WE GOT IT ON THE HIGHWAY WE NOTICED A SHAKING IN THE FRONT END. WE TOLD THE DEALER OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHECK INTO IT. THEY SAID THEY HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED. THE TIRES LOOKED BRAND NEW WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. WE CONTINUED WITH THE PURCHASE AND LATER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ON THE HIGHWAY IT DONE THE SAME THING. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THE ONLY TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WAS WHEN YOU WERE DRIVING BETWEEN 55 AND 65 MPH OTHER THAN THAT IT DROVE FINE. THEN MY DRIVER SIDE TIRE DEVELOPED A LEAK THAT GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE UNTIL I WOULD HAVE TO PUT AIR IN IT EVERY DAY. MY HUSBAND PUT SOME OTHER TIRES ON AND WHEN THE TIRES WERE REMOVED ONE OF THEM HAD 6 WEIGHTS ON IT. THE 2 FRONT TIRES BOTH HAD LARGE CRACKS. ONCE THE NEWER TIRES WERE PUT ON THE SHAKING ON THE HIGHWAY HAS STOPPED. I SEE SO MUCH ABOUT THE BAD TIRES ON THE FORD EXPLORER, THAT IT LEADS ME TO WONDER, IS IT THE TIRES OR IS IT THE EXPLORER? I DO NOT SEE HOW THERE COULD BE SO MANY DIFFERENT TIRES THAT WOULD HAVE DEFECTS. I BOUGHT MY 1994 FORD EXPLORER (4WD) IN MAY OF 1999 AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS SINCE. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 50900 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. IT NOW HAS 89000 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKE ROTORS TWICE AND REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS THREE TIMES. THE LAST TIME I COMPLETED BRAKE WORK WAS BECAUSE THE LEFT FRONT CALIPER OVERHEATED AND FAILED. I THEN REPLACED BOTH FRONT CALIPERS. THERE IS A BAD VIBRATION PROBLEM AT SPEEDS OF 55-67 MPH. I RECENTLY PURCHASED FOUR NEW TIRES, HAD THEM BALANCED, HAD THE FRONT END ALIGNED, AND REPLACED THE SHOCKS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. IT STILL VIBRATES AT THE ABOVE MENTIONED SPEEDS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE PCM (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT). I REPLACED THE PCM AS A LAST RESORT BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY REPLACED ALL THE SENSORS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSING THE PROBLEM. REPLACING THE PCM CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A YEAR, BUT NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN DURING INITIAL STARTING AND THEN GOES OUT AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2-3 MILES. I ALSO HAVE A SOUND COMING FROM MY AIR VENTS WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ON. NOW FOR MY MOST RECENT PROBLEM. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS READING HOTTER THAN NORMAL SO I OVERHAULED THE COOLING SYSTEM INCLUDING: NEW THERMOSTAT, NEW COOLING FAN (OLD ONE WAS CRACKED ALL AROUND THE HUB), NEW FAN CLUTCH, NEW RADIATOR, NEW ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR, AND NEW FLUID FLUSH AND REFILL. CONSUMER TOOK CAR IN FOR RECAL 97 V 083 000 REPAIRS. 3 YEARS LATER, CONSUMER'S CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE THE SAME WAY AS MENTIONED IN RECALL. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER THAT A FUSE WAS PUT IN TO STOP WHOLE CAR FROM CATCHING FIRE. CONSUMER STATED DOOR CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED.*AK THE DEALER DECLINED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILED FUSE. PROBLEM 1: ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL OCCASIONALLY WHEN TURN HEATER ON AND ONCE WHEN TURNED A/C ON. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FIRST TIME USING THE SYSTEM AND SMELLS LIKE WHEN ANOTHER CAR OF MINE HAD THE ELECTRICAL WIRES IN THE STEERING WHEEL BURN AND SMOKE. PROBLEM 2: GAS PEDAL OCCASIONALLY FLOORS ITSELF AND I CANNOT BRAKE THE CAR EVEN WITH ALL MY WEIGHT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HANDLE IT BY POPPING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND SITTING THERE WHILE THE ENGINE GUNS ITSELF. I ALSO PUMP THE GAS PEDAL DURING THIS TIME IN THE HOPES THAT IT HELPS. THIS IS THE SCARIEST OF ALL MY PROBLEMS AND I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH NOT TO BE TOO CLOSE TO PEOPLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 2X A YEAR AND I CANNOT TIE ANY OF THE INCIDENS TOGETHER AS IT HAS OCCURRED ON RAINY DAYS, SUNNY DAYS.... PROBLEM 3: I NO LONGER DRIVE MY CAR ABOVE 65MPH BECAUSE IN THE PAST I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WHERE AFTER MORE THAN 45 MINUTES OF HIGH SPEED DRIVING THE FUEL SYSTEM MESSES UP. MY MILEAGE DROPS TO ABOUT 8 MILES TO THE GALLON AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I'VE HAD TO GET MY PURGE TANK EMPTIED OF FUEL AND OTHER PROBLEMS AFTER AN INCIDENT LIKE THIS, BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT NOTICABLE WHEN THE CAR IS COOL OR IN CITY DRIVING. OVERALL NOTE: I HAVE SOME OF THE DATES OF THE PROBLEMS WRITTEN DOWN BUT NOT ALL SO THE DATES AND MILEAGES ARE FICTIONAL IN MY NOTES TO YOU. *AK

MAJOR PROBLEM REGARDING IGNITION SYSTEM: FIRST PROBLEM BEGAN ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS, UNABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 OR 10 MINUTES. REPEATED ATTEMPTS IN SUCCESSION FAIL TO START THE ENGINE BUT HAVE FOUND THAT IF I GIVE IT A COUPLE OF MINUTES BEFORE TRYING TO CRANK IT UP AGAIN IT WILL USUALLY START. SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONLY AFTER SHORT TRIPS, LESS THAN 10-15 MILES. REPLACED THE FUEL CIRCUIT RELAY 2 MONTHS AGO, HAD ONLY ONE REOCCURRENCE A WEEK LATER. NOW FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS THERE IS A MUCH WORSE AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY USUALLY WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-70 MPH. NO SPUTTERS, NO BACKFIRES, NO INDICATIONS THAT THE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF OTHER THAN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMS AND THE GAUGES STOP READING. THE ENGINE WON'T RESTART UNTIL AFTER A FEW MINUTES HAVE PASSED BEFORE TRYING TO CRANK IT AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH. DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, NO ERROR CODES ARE REPORTING. FUEL PUMP: FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING FOR SEVERAL YEARS, HOLE IN FLOAT PER DEALERSHIP, SO ENTIRE FUEL PUMP REPLACED AT MY COST. FUEL GAUGE APPEARED TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY; HOWEVER, ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS ONCE THE TANK GOT DOWN TO 1/4 FULL THE GAUGE WOULD START OFF AT 1/4 BUT THEN AFTER DRIVING FOR 5 OR 10 MINS. THE GAUGE WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO FULL. AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF WORKING SPORADICALLY, IT IS NOW CONSISTENTLY GOING TO FULL EVERYTIME THE TANK GETS DOWN TO 1/4. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AS DEFECTIVE BUT WILL NOT COVER UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH IT HAS ONLY BEEN 6 MOS. , IT IS APPROX. 2000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY LIMIT OF 12,000 MILES/12 MONTHS. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE SAME $340.00 PARTS & LABOR AS 6 MONTHS AGO. I FEEL THIS IS UNFAIR SO DECLINED THE WORK, NOW BEING CHARGED $67.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE! CRUISE CONTROL: THE CRUISE CONTROL WON'T ENGAGE ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS, DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO DUPLICATE.
