Have owned this truck for a couple of years and have been enduring the "Death Wobble" over the local train tracks, but I am always able to control my speed. But the other day while traveling down the interstate, I hit a pothole and truck was shaking until brought the truck to a stop. Luckily I was able to get off the road, but this event could have been much worse. Apparently this is a known problem, and it is a shame that the manufacturer has not fixed this obvious safety issue.

RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING MY FORD F250 TRUCK, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE FORD'S DEATH WOBBLE' ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. AFTER DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROADWAY, THE FRONT END STARTS WOBBLING TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE TO BRAKE AND PULL OVER JUST TO STAY IN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. WHEN THIS DEATH WOBBLE' OCCURS, IT CAUSES THE DRIVER HAS TO FIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL AND APPLY BRAKING JUST TO STAY IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN!!!! *TR RECENTLY, I HAVE READ SEVERAL ARTICLES IDENTIFY THE PROBLEMS WITH FORD'S FRONT END AND THEIR SOLUTIONS TO FIX THE FRONTS ENDS. HIGH SPEED WHEEL OSCILLATION OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT OF INTERSTATE 275 AROUND CINCINNATI, OHIO. I HIT A BUMP ON THE EXIT OF THE INTERSTATES BRIDGE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK REALLY BAD LEFT AND RIGHT. I HAD RECEIVED A LETTER LAST YEAR WARNING ME ABOUT THIS CONDITION. I DID NOT THINK I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK UNTIL THIS HAPPENED. I WAS LUCKY THAT I DID NOT CRASH THIS VEHICLE WHEN THE OSCILLATION OCCURRED. On our most recent trip, our Ford truck a 2007 F250 model experienced what is called the death wobble, where the front shakes violently. Which occurs in speeds of 70 or higher, when it hits a bump the front end shakes violently. It has happened in the past when we were on vacation. The dealer could not find the cause. It is now at the dealer again, to see what can be done. There is a known class action suit filed in 2019. For Ford F250 & F350 models from 2005 to 2019. Ford knew about it but did not inform any owners. We are wanting to get this on record so you can monitor Ford to see what they are doing about it. It is a shame that people pay big bucks for the trucks and Ford won't tell owners about it or find a true fix. We are also going to file on the class action suit that is out there. PLEASE MAKE FORD ACCOUNTABLE, TO SAVE LIVES

FORD DEALER CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED A TRACKING BAR AND THE STEERING DAMPER. THESE REPAIRS HELPED BUT DID NOT ELIMINATE THE ISSUE. NEW OEM TIRES WERE INSTALLED 2,000 MILES AFTER THE FORD REPAIR. AS OF DEC 2013 THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 78,578 MILES WHICH IS ONLY 5,000 MILES SINCE THE REPAIR AND 3,000 MILES SINCE NEW OEM TIRES AND THE SAME SEVERE SHIMMY AND OSCILLATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL IS OCCURRING AGAIN. IN DEC 2013 I RECEIVED SPECIAL FIELD ACTION LETTER 09L02 FROM FORD CONCERNING THIS VERY ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM IS SO "MASSIVE" WITH SO MANY "MASSIVE COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS" THAT FORD HAS DONE TWO THINGS 1) DESIGNED A BY-PASS KIT AND 2) RE-DESIGNED THE ENGINE TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM (6.7 ENGINE). ON MARCH 3RD 2007, I WAS SHOPPING AT A WAL-MART SUPER CENTER IN DOUGLASVILLE, GA. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE (A BRAND NEW 2007 FORD F-250) I DISCOVERED THAT WHILE I HAD BEEN SHOPPING MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO. ALTHOUGH NOTHING WAS STOLEN FROM MY VEHICLE OVER $1000.00 TO $2000.00 OR MORE, WORTH OF DAMAGE WAS CAUSED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BROKEN INTO. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE POLICE AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED I FILLED OUT A POLICE REPORT. THE PURPOSE OF THIS LETTER IS TO EXPRESS MY EXTREME DISSATISFACTION WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR WHAT I CONSIDER AN EXTREMELY DEFECTIVE PRODUCT (THE DOOR-HANDLE/LOCK PLATE) THAT, I AM NOW HAVING TO PAY FOR. THIS VEHICLE WAS TOWED INTO OUR SHOP BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START. WE INSTALLED A NEW STARTER AND LEFT IT OVER NIGHT IN THE STALL WHEN WE CAME BACK IN THE MORNING IT HAD ATTEMPTED TO START ITS SELF AND HAD DRIVEN THROUGH THE DOOR AND OUT ON TO THE LOT WEDGEING ITSELF IN THE NEW CARS. THIS TRUCK IS A STANDARD TRANSMISSION AND WAS LEFT IN GEAR WITH THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. IF YOU SET THIS TRUCK AND LEAVE IT IT WILL TRAY TO START IT'S SELF. I HAVE A 2007 FORD F-250SD 4X4 WITH A 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE. ON MAY 29, 2012 MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A NO START CONDITION AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. UPON ARRIVAL I WAS ADVISED THAT I NEEDED A NEW STARTER AND POSSIBLY MORE BUT IT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AGAIN. STARTER WAS REPLACED AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE (FICM). MY VEHICLE IS 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT 50000 MILES BELOW WHAT WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE IN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. FORD HAS ISSUED 3 TO 4 TSB'S REGARDING THE PROBLEMS WITH THE FICM IT IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM'S WITH THE FORD 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE. I CONTACTED FORD AND REQUESTED SOME ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE MILEAGE. FORD DENIED THAT ANY ISSUE EXISTS WITH THE FICM IN THE 6.0L ENGINE. Truck randomly has the notorious death wobble when going over bumps. It shakes violently and i have to slow down or stop. Tried to have it diagnosed by mechanic several times with no outcome, this is when I researched and found out a lot of ford trucks have this issue. Is it a severe safety issue and with the outrageous price of trucks, I can not buy a new one. Ford should have recalled this a long time ago

1) FAULTY HEAD BOLTS REPAIR WAS OVER $6000 INVOLVED GASKETS, CRACKED HEADS, BOLTS, UPDATES AND UPGRADES. 2) DEATH WOBBLE FRONT END ISSUES (MINE ARE FORTUNATELY OCCURRING AT AT LOW SPEEDS) HOWEVER THE WOBBLE HAS CAUSED MANY FRONT END AND STEERING COMPONENTS TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. WOBBLE KICKS IN AFTER SHARP TURNS AND WHEEL WILL NOT RETURN TO CENTER AND WHEN FORCED BACK TO CENTER IT WILL WANDER AND HUNT FOR CENTER. USUALLY UP TILL 20-25MPH THEN SELF CORRECTS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE CROSSED THE HIGHWAY INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED AS DESIGNED; HOWEVER, THE WHEELS FAILED TO MOVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 226,000.

I'M JUST A LITTLE UPSET THAT FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THIS ISSUE WITH THE 06 AND 07 F250 FUELING ISSUE, I WENT TO ARVIN,CA AT LUNCH TODAY TO PUT GAS IN BECAUSE I TRY TO MAKE SURE WHEN IT GETS TO A HALF OF A TANK I FILL IT UP, IT TOOK ME 17 MINUTES TO PUT IN 13 GALLONS OF GAS, THAT IS SAD AND I HAVE TO PUT IT IN SO SLOW BECAUSE IT WILL NOT LET ME GO ANY FASTER THAT TO ALWAYS OVER FILLS AND GAS COME OUT AROUND THE FUEL NOZZLE, I REALLY CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. ALL I WOULD LIKE IS THEM TO MEET ME HALF WAY I CAN NOT AFFORD TO SPEND OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND WHEN YOU DO A SEARCH ON THE ISSUE THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP UNLESS YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE WAS DRIVING DOWNHILL DURING THE FAILURE WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO BRAKE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111,500. LIKE MANY OWNERS OF A FORD DIESEL TRUCK THE FUEL TANK IS RUSTING. I HAVE CARED FOR MY TRUCK AS RECOMMENDED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. NOW MY TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY IT IS OVER 3 YEARS OLD AND IS AT 47000 MILES. THIS HAS BEEN A REPEATED PROBLEM AMONG FORD OWNERS AND IT SEEMS AS THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS GETTING AWAY WITH RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS. $600.00+ TO REPAIR BUT ALL THEY WILL DO IS CLEAN OUT THE TANK. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THESE TRUCKS. THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED FOR YEARS YET FORD IS NOT REQUIRED TO PLACE THE PROPER TYPE OF TANK IN THESE VEHICLES. LET ME REPEAT... THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM! FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE SENT COMPLAINTS HERE. I REALLY HOPE FORD IS HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING MY FORD F-250 45 MPH AND OVER AND HITTING ANY KIND OF BUMP THE FRONT END SHAKES SEVERELY. THE BRAKES WHEN APPLIED WILL STOP THE SHAKING. THE DAMPER WAS REPLACED BUT IT DID NOT HELP. IF THE BUMP AND THE SPEED WAS GREAT ENOUGH IT WOULD CAUSE YOU TO CRASH. THE TRUCK HAS 38,000 MI. AND THE DEALER TELLS ME THERE IS NO RECALL AND IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. HE FELT THAT THIS WAS UNSAFE BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD EASILY BREAK INTO HIS VEHICLE WITHOUT TRIGGERING THE ALARM. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,000.

THE DASHBOARD'S REFLECTION IN THE WINDSHIELD IS TERRIBLE! IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD ON A BRIGHT, SUNNY DAY OR WHEN I'M PULLING INTO MY GARAGE.
