The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH on a bridge, the vehicle drove over potholes and the vehicle experienced the death wobble, causing the steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. The contact firmly gripped the steering wheel and decelerated to 30 MPH to prevent the vehicle from shaking. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that several independent mechanics had previously replaced the tires, control arms, shocks, struts, steering damper, and pitman arm, as well as performed an alignment; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Several times steering has been lost while making a turn. Thusfar accidents have been narrowly avoided. I have worked with the Ford dealer and replaced all major components in 2022. But the problem has started again. Most times the steering wheel is difficult to turn in parking situations; other times the steering wont work at all. I have had to swing wide into the oncoming lane during a turn to make the turn.

I JUST PURCHASED THIS BEAUTIFUL F 250 TRUCK 2008, FROM THE AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY IN CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA. I WENT OUT ON THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY DISCOVERED THE TRUCK HAD A MAJOR STEERING PROBLEM. IT IS DESCRIBED AS I CANNOT KEEP IT IN THE LANE I AM TRAVELING IN BECAUSE OF STEERING WOBBLE AND PLAYING THE STEERING AND WANDERS INTO INCOMING TRAFFIC. I ALSO CHECKED UP UNDERNEATH AND THERE WERE LOOSE TIE ROD BRACKETS AND OTHER COMPONENTS THAT I DO NOT KNOW THE NAMES OF. IT'S A REAL SHAME WHEN THE SALESMAN YOU PURCHASED IT FROM WHEN I TEXTED THIS TO HIM WILL NOT CALL OR TEXT BACK, VERY DECEITFUL.

Bring truck to 60 or above it starts to shake and wobble to the point I can't go highway speeds.. I have only owned this truck for a couple months.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the cabin began to fill up with diesel exhaust fumes and white smoke. The contact stated that "Drive Vehicle to Clean Exhaust Filter" warning light illuminated. The contact rolled down the window to relieve the cabin of exhaust fumes and smoke. The contact noticed that a rubber boot around the 4WD shift lever inside the vehicle was completely melted, and only a thick plastic ring around the shift lever opening where the rubber boot was attached remained. The contact replaced the rubber boot; however, the failure reoccurred within a week after replacement. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the exhaust pipes needed to be replaced and that the repair required the vehicle cabin to be removed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE. HAD THE AIR CHARGE COOLER REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT AROUND 70,000 MILES. THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING AS WELL BUT DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE IT AND WANTED 1400.00 TO REPLACE. WAS LOSING COOLANT AT A RATE OF ABOUT 1 GALLON A WEEK GOING THRU THE AIR CHARGE COOLER AND OUT THE EXHAUST. AT 89,000 MILES I HAD TO PAY $1947.00 TO REPLACE BOTH THE VERTICAL AND HORIZONAL EGR COOLERS. AGAIN, DUMPING A GALLON OF COOLANT INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM A WEEK CAUSING SEVER SMOKING AND POLLUTANTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT THOUSANDS OR PROBABLY MILLIONS OF F-250 AND OTHERS WITH THE 6.4L DIESEL ENGINE. FORD REFUSED TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND DO A TOTAL RECALL ON THESE ILL DESIGNED TRUCKS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH TURNING THEIR HEAD ON THIS DESIGN FLAW AND NOT MADE TO CORRECT THE AIR CHARGED COOLERS, PLASTIC RADIATORS AND THE EGR COOLERS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,851.

ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS MY 08 FORD F250 6.4 HAS HAD EXCESSIVE BLUISH WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND LASTS AROUND 20 SECONDS. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND SITUATION MET ALL CRITERIA OUTLINED IN TSB 11-2-2. CAC WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, VEHICLE STILL INTERMITTENTLY HAS SAME PROBLEM. ON ONE OCCURRENCE THE SMOKE WAS SO EXCESSIVE THAT A MOTORCYCLE TRAVELING BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD DUE TO VISIBILITY. FORD STATES THAT THIS IS NORMAL.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires LT275/70R18 D1 I purchased these tires on 11/08/2019. My truck had 166,736 miles it now has around 202,000. I experienced a blow out where the total tread separated from the rear driver side side walls. The tread separated piece was in one piece. As if a re-tread tire. It caused extensive damage to my rear quarter panel among a list of other damaged parts. The tread was on the tires were still in excellent shape.

TIRE HAD A FULL TREAD SEPERATION WHILE DOING 65 ON [XXX] IN BROWARD COUNTY FL CAUSED DAMAGE TO DRIVER SIDE FRONT FENDER AND ALLOY RIM , WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD WITH NO ACCIDENT TIRE SIZE WAS LT275 / 70 R18 AND HAD LESS THAN 12000 MILES I CHECKED THE OTHER 3 TIRES AND A COUPLE HAVE UNUSUAL WEAR WHICH MAY BE STARTING TO HAVE THE TREAD SEPERATE AS YOU CAN A CRACK FORMING WHERE THE FAILED TIRE SEPERATED. 295/65R20 Had 3 out of 4 tires separate with about 1400 miles on them at highway speeds. Purchase in 11/22 first on failed 4/23 the other 2 5/23. 1st one had belts break at hwy speeds the 2nd had a large chunk of trade come off and 3rd had belts separate. 70mph was average speed when the issue occurred.

WE OWN A 2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY TRUCK WITH BF GOODRICH RUGGED TERRAIN T/A TIRES. ON OR ABOUT 7/5/15, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE DEVELOPED TREAD FAILURE AS A PORTION OF THE TIRE TREAD BEGAN PEELING OFF WHILE TRAVELLING ON I-75. A SPARE TIRE WAS PUT ON AND THE TIRE WAS REPLACED AND A WARRANTY CLAIM WAS SUBMITTED AS IT WAS STILL UNDER TREAD WARRANTY. ON OR ABOUT 8/21/15, THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING ON I-95, WHICH CAUSED NEARLY $3000.00 IN DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THE BF GOODRICH RUGGED TERRAIN T/A TIRES BUT NOT FOR THE 20 INCH TIRES WHICH ARE THE ONES DESCRIBED HERE. WE FEEL THAT THE 20 INCH TIRES NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR POSSIBLE RECALL AS WELL. THESE TIRES ONLY HAD 37,667 MILES ON THEM AND WERE PURCHASED NEW FROM FORD ON 7/23/12. The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving uphill at approximately 40 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was HOT before the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was then allowed to cool down, and water was added to the radiator. The contact stated that when the vehicle was restarted, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 12,000 miles later. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250 The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed fluid leaking from the bottom of the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the engine block of the vehicle had fractured. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine block had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

I PURCHASED MY 2008 FORD F250 IN 2015 FROM A DEALERSHIP IN BURKBURNETT, TX. THE TRUCK STARTED LOOSING COOLANT FROM WHAT SEEM TO BE THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE. THAT LEAK STOPPED BUT CONTINUED LEAK COOLANT FROM BUT WAS NOT VISIBLE. THEN THE COOLANT FILLER BOTTLE STARTED COLLECTING A BLACK FLUID AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS ENGINE OIL. SO, I WAS GETTING OIL IN MY ANTIFREEZE. THE RADIATOR WAS DRAINED AND REFILLED WITH COOLANT BUT I STILL FOUND OIL IN THE COOLANT FILLER BOTTLE. RIGHT AROUND THANKSGIVING 2019, I DECIDED TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO A DEALERSHIP 50 MILES AWAY. THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE LOCKED UP AFTER THE TEST DRIVE AND HAS NOT STARTED SINCE. WE WERE GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $11,000 TO CLEAN OUT THE OILS IN THE ENGINE. THE PICKUP IS NOT WORTH THAT MUCH ACCORDING TO THE LIENHOLDER. THE VEHICLE IS NOW SITTING IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND HAS BEEN SINCE THE NEW YEAR AFTER WE HAD IT TOWED FROM THE DEALERSHIP 50 MILES AWAY TO OUR HOME.

THE TRUCK WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK, EVEN WHEN THE DRIVERS FOOT IS FIRMLY PLACED ON THE BRAKE. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE. VEHICLE CAN BE PARKED ANYWHERE...I.E. IN THE GARAGE, DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOT. ALL FLAT SURFACES, (SO NO HEAVY TENSION ON THE TRANSMISSION LIKE YOU MIGHT HAVE IF PARKED ON A HILL AND THE PARKING BRAKE NOT ENGAGED).

AT APPROXIMATELY 3 PM ON SATURDAY, JUNE 2, 2018, MY 2008 F-250 SD 4WD TRUCK EXPERIENCED AN ABRUPT CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE TRANSFER CASE. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON A BUSY INTERSTATE CORRIDOR WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHILE IN 2WD MODE. IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, A DULL RUMBLE COULD BE HEARD, WHICH RAPIDLY AMPLIFIED TO A LOUD ROAR. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY JOLTED BY A THUNDEROUS EXPLOSION THAT EMANATED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY AS I PULLED OVER ONTO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. AS THE TRUCK LURCHED FORWARD HESITANTLY, A CLOUD OF THICK SMOKE BILLOWED OUT FROM BELOW THE TRUCK NEAR THE FRONT DOORS. UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS POURING OUT THE TRANSFER CASE, WHOSE EXTERIOR WALL HAD LITERALLY BEEN RIPPED APART. LARGE GEAR COMPONENTS FROM THE TRANSFER CASE WERE STREWN ALONG THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. THE EXPLOSION WITHIN THE TRANSFER CASE CAUSED SEVERAL INTERNAL PARTS TO BE EJECTED WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE AND VELOCITY. THE SIZABLE INDENTATIONS AND LARGE SCRAPES INFLICTED UPON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND THE PASSENGER FLOOR PAN, RESPECTIVELY, ARE A CONSPICUOUS TESTAMENT TO THE FORCEFUL DISCHARGE OF THESE VARIOUS COMPONENTS PARTS FROM INSIDE THE TRANSFER CASE. THE SUBSTANTIAL ENERGY CONTAINED IN THIS EXPLOSION NECESSARILY IMPLIES THAT TREMENDOUS PRESSURE WAS BUILDING UP INSIDE THE TRANSFER CASE. FURTHERMORE, THE THICK, ACRID SMOKE RELEASED FOLLOWING THE EXPLOSION IS ALSO INDICATIVE THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS SUBJECT TO APPRECIABLE HEAT GENERATION. FORTUNATELY, AND RATHER INCREDIBLY, NO INJURIES NOR CRASHES WERE SUSTAINED WHEN THE TRANSFER CASE PRECIPITOUSLY BURST. DESPITE THE ABSENCE OF COLLATERAL DAMAGE OR CASUALTIES, THE SEVERITY AND MAGNITUDE OF THIS INEXPLICABLE EQUIPMENT FAILURE WARRANT DOCUMENTATION AS THIS IS A CRITICAL PART MALFUNCTION.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 35-45 MPH, the vehicle hit a bump and he heard abnormal sounds coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection, he was informed that the body mount bushings that hold the cab to the train and cushion the road and the engine vibrations from the body were detaching from the frame. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired, and the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a second inspection and the dealer diagnosed that the body mount bushings had detached from the frame. The dealer informed the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair because the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 186,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH and making a left turn, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond and went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stood on the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot at a low speed. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the brake pedal responded as needed while driving to his residence. Upon investigating the failure, the contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.

I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE BUILDING SUPPLY WITH THE TRUCK. I WAS TOWING A SMALL UTILITY TRAILER. AS I APPROACHED A FAIRLY SHARP CURVE I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK BRAKES WERE GONE WITHOUT WARNING. THE TRAILER BRAKES LOCKED AND SLOWED THE VEHICLE ENOUGH TO GET SAFELY THROUGH THE TURN. I RELIED ON THE TRAILER BRAKES AND THE TRANSMISSION TO COMPLETE THE TRIP AND GET THE VEHICLE SAFELY HOME. WHEN I GOT HOME I CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD THE TRUCK TOWED THERE FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO BADLY WORN BRAKE PADS CAUSING THE CALIPERS TO OVEREXTEND AND A CALIPER PISTON SEAL HAD FAILED. PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS WERE BADLY WORN. IT WAS THE LEFT REAR CALIPER THAT FAILED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE BRAKES CAN BE THIS BADLY WORN AFTER ONLY 21,000 MILES.

I BOUGHT MY TRUCK IN NOVEMBER 2008 BRAND NEW. AT APPROXIMATELY 13000 MILES I HAD MY RIGHT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER FREEZE UP. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY GOT OUT AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM AROUND MY LEFT FRONT WHEEL. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO INSTALL A NEW CALIPER, PADS AND ROTOR. THIS WAS ALL DONE UNDER WARRANTY, UNFORTUNATELY THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES - ONCE ON THE RIGHT FRONT,ONCE ON THE RIGHT REAR, AND AGAIN ON THE LEFT FRONT. THE LAST TIME WAS AT 48000 MILES AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. EVERY INCIDENT WAS THE SAME WITH THE RESULTING REPAIRS BEING THE SAME (NEW CALIPER, NEW ROTOR,AND NEW PADS. I HOPE THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO MAKE FORD REMEDY THIS SITUATION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. LIVING IN MICHIGAN I DRIVE ON SLIPPERY ROADS AND IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON SLIPPERY ROADS I FEAR WHAT THE OUTCOME OF THE INCIDENT MAY BE. THIS I FEEL IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION, I PULL A 34 FOOT FIFTHWHEEL CAMPER AND WOULD NOT WANT TO EXPERIENCE THIS WHILE PULLING IT. I KNOW OF AT LEAST 5 OTHER TRUCKS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM RANGING IN YEARS FROM 2005 TO PRESENT. IRONICALLY FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB ON THE 2010-2011 FORD SUPERDUTY FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE TSB OR ISSUE A RECALL ON ALL OF THESE TRUCKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED THE BRAKE SYSTEM TO OVERHEAT. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE TO HITCH A TRAILER ONTO TO THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. ADDITIONALLY, THE PRESSURE SWITCH WAS FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE BRAKE SWITCH TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLUID PRESSURE WIRING HARNESS WAS DETACHED AND HANGING DOWN. I HAVE 46000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND FOUR TIMES MY REAR BRAKES HAVE LOCKED UP ON ME. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED WITH 17000 MILES SO CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY. IT IS NO WONDER I GOT A USED VEHICLE WITH SO LOW OF MILES. I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH IN DRIVING THIS TRUCK FOR ANY KIND OF DISTANCE. I HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY UNABLE TO MOVE STRANDED ON THE ROAD. ON ANOTHER OCCASION I HAD TO DRIVE FIFTY MILES TOWING A TRAILOR WITH VICE GRIPS CRIMPING MY BRAKE LINE AFTER I BROKE THE CALIPER FREE AND GUESS WHAT THEY ARE LOCKED UP AGAIN.THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM AND VERY DANGEROUS

WHILE IN MOTION, MORE OFTEN ON HOT DAYS, THE BRAKE CALIPERS, IN BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK, LOCK UP AND THE TRUCK NEEDS TO BE LEFT STATIONARY UNTIL THEY RELEASE. THE BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN CHANGED NUMEROUS TIMES. FORD WILL NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR FAULTY CALIPERS WHEN I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AT 30,000 ORIGINAL MILES. WHEN I ASKED AN EXPERIENCED LOCAL MECHANIC ABOUT THE PROBLEM, HE EXPLAINED THAT FORD USED TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF METALS IN THEIR CALIPERS SO THEY EXPAND AND CONTRACT AT DIFFERENT RATES, CAUSING THEM TO LOCK UP.

I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND ATTEMPTING TO GET OFF AT AN EXIT WHEN I TOUCHED THE BRAKES THEY GRABBED HARD, THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THE ABS WHINE STARTED BUT I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES. THIS CAUSED STEERING TO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AND THERE WHERE SIGNIFICANT DOWNGRADES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD. WHILE USING FORCE TO TURN THE STERRING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO KEEP FROM GOIN OVER THE EMBANKMENT THYE BRAKES RELEASED WHICH CAUSE ME TO ALMOST GO OVER THE EMBANCKMENT ON THE RIGHT. THE BRAKES KEEP GRABBING AND RELEASING UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO T HE DEALERSHIP AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH HAD THE TRUCK GONE OVER THE EMBANKMENT ON EITHER SIDE. I'M USED TO DRIVING AND STAY PRETTY ALERT BUT THERE ARE THOSE THAT THIS WOULD HAVE MADE THEM FREEZE UP AND IT WOULD HAVE ENDED IN TRAGEDY!

The contact stated the check engine warning light was illuminated after the fire was located. The contact extinguished the fire with nearby water. The contact stated he did not call the fire department or the police department to file a report. The contact stated no one was injured or sought medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable. SUMMARY: PURCHASED THIS 2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY NEW AT A FORD DEALERSHIP IN FLA. ON FEB. 29, 2008 AND CONTINUE TO BE THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A 6.4 TURBO-DIESEL ENGINE. THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO TSB 07-26-2 (WIRING HARNESS DEFECT ON HPFP) ISSUED AUGUST 2007.IN JANUARY 2015, WHILE ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEED, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I LOST ACCELERATION AND THE ENGINE DIED. BRAKING AND STEERING WERE ALSO DIMINISHED.GOT LUCKY AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE WIRES SUPPLYING POWER TO THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP FRAYED. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE WIRES NOT BEING PROPERLY PROTECTED BY FORD (ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP). ONCE THE SHORT IN THE WIRE OCCURRED, MY TRUCK IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS GOING 65 MPH AND LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. WHEN STARTING MY 2008 FORD F-250 I BEGAN HAVING TO TRY IT MORE THAN ONCE, WHICH WAS VERY UNUSUAL FOR MY TRUCK. THEN THE NEXT DAY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER, THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND INFORMED ME THAT THE ERROR CODE INDICATED THAT EITHER I OR SOMEONE ELSE HAS ATTEMPTED TO MODIFY THE PCM (PROCESSOR) UNSUCCESSFULLY AND THAT RESULTED IN THE PCM BEING RUINED. I ASSURED THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT IN NO WAY HAVE I OR ANYONE ELSE DONE THAT. HE BASICALLY CALLED ME A LIAR AND SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $1000 TO REPAIR. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NOW FOR 5 DAYS AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THE REPAIR TECH WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY REPROGRAMMING THE NEW PCM AND HAD TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. Driving down the highway and my truck started to violently shaking. I pulled over to see if tire blew. Tires where fine. Drove it another 5 miles and it did it again. Felt worse then having a blown tire until I stopped.

WHEN SHIFTING THE TRUCK FROM PARK TO DRIVE THE TRUCK RANDOMLY WENT FULL THROTTLE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN. IN ANOTHER CASE IT ALSO HAS WENT FULL THROTTLE WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND SHIFTING INTO PARK.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed over a bump in the roadway, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact inspected underneath the vehicle and became aware that the rubber body mounts were deteriorating and detaching from the frame of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

SLOWING DOWN EXITING TO THE LEFT OFF HI-WAY AFTER ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR AT 70MPH. BRAKE PEDAL FELT LIKE IT KICKED BACK, BOTH BRAKES AND STEERING LOCKED UP, SLID UNTO SHOULDER, THEN EVERYTHING RELEASED LIKE NORMAL. BROUGHT TO DEALER, THEY REPLACED HYRO-BOOSTER SYSTEM AND FLUIDS. I JUST HAD PURCHASED A 2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SOMETHING LIKE THIS. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND APPROXIMATELY THE SAME LEVEL AS WELL. I WAS PUTTING ON THE BRAKE TO STOP AND IT IS TOO EASY TO KEEP PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE TRYING TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT FOR A FEW HOURS TO TRANSPORT IT, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE FIRST SEVEN STOPS. I'M THINKING THERE SHOULD BE A FIX OR SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS SORT OF THING. WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH, THE TRUCK INSTANTLY "TOOK OFF", THE TACHOMETER WENT TO BETWEEN 5500 & 6000 RPM, AND SPEED INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY TO ALMOST 90MPH. I TAPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE BRAKE TO TRY TO INTERRUPT WHAT WAS OCCURRING. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, WHERE THE RPMS DROPPED TO 3000. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF IN HOPES OF RESETTING WHATEVER HAD JUST OCCURRED. WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK BACK UP, IT IMMEDIATELY BEGAN DOING WHAT IT WAS DOING BEFORE. I PLACED THE TRUCK INTO "DRIVE" AND ATTEMPTED TO GET OUT OF THE ROADWAY. AT THIS TIME, EVERYTHING RETURNED TO "NORMAL". I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (UNIVERSITY FORD, DURHAM NC). THEY DETERMINED WITHIN 40 MINUTES THAT IT WAS THE FLOOR MAT. HOWEVER, I HAVE TRIED FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR TODAY TO RECREATE A FLOOR MAT ACCELERATOR STICKING WITHOUT SUCCESS. I HAVE ALSO BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE MAXIMUM RPMS THAT I EXPERIENCED WITH MY FOOT IN A NORMAL DRIVING POSITION. I ORDERED A 2008 F-250 SUPER DUTY LARIAT CREW CAB IN MARCH 2008 AND TOOK DELIVERY IN LATE APRIL 2008. WHEN TRYING TO INSTALL A CHILD SAFETY SEAT, I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SEATBELT IN THE INBOARD REAR SEAT. IT WOULD NOT GO INTO 'AUTOMATIC LOCKING MODE' FOR THE CORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT AS THE TWO OUTBOARD REAR SEATS AND THE OUTBOARD PASSENGER SEAT DID. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE INBOARD REAR SEATBELT ONLY TO FIND THAT ONE DIDN'T WORK EITHER. UPON CLOSE EXAMINATION OF MY OWNER'S MANUAL I FOUND THAT IT SAID THAT ONLY THE OUTBOARD REAR SEATS AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAD SEATBELTS WITH AN 'AUTOMATIC LOCKING MODE.' The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed the oil dipstick indicated that the engine was overfilled with oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the high-pressure fuel pump causing diesel fuel to leak into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the engine had previously been replaced at 288,000 miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 307,000.

2008 FORD F250 CREW! WHERE DO I BEGIN? I'VE HAD THIS TRUCK IN MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT! MOST RECENTLY FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES! I'M HAVING IT WORKED ON FOR THE THIRD TIME TODAY! ALONG WITH ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFTS, WHICH IT HAS BEEN IN AT LEAST TWO OTHER TIMES FOR! THE POWER STEERING DOESN'T WORK AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN TRYING TO MANEUVER AROUND OR EVEN WHEN TRYING TO TURN AROUND! YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO CRANK AS HARD AS YOU CAN TO GET IT TO TURN AND BEING A FAIRLY FIT 28 YEAR OLD CONSTRUCTION WORKER I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORK THAT HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL ON A TRUCK THAT HAS POWER STEERING! I JUST ABOUT RAMMED A LIGHT POLE WHILE OUT PLOWING AT ABOUT 15 MILES AN HOUR WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD RIDING IN THE BACK! THIS OF COURSE WAS BEFORE I HAD IT IN THE LAST TIME AND IT IS A LITTLE BETTER BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND I DON'T WANT TO BE DRIVING THIS TRUCK TRYING TO GET ONTO A ROADWAY WITH ANY OF MY FOUR CHILDREN WHEN IT DECIDES TO ACT UP AND GET HIT BY A MACK TRUCK! IT HAPPEN ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I FIRST GOT THE TRUCK. I WAS GETTING TO A STOP SIGN AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES LOCKED, I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN AT ALL AND I HAD A REALLY HARD TIME BRAKING, I HAD TO USE A LOT OF FORCE TO BRAKE OR TO TURN THE WHEEL EVEN A LITTLE. THAT HAPPENED 3 DIFFERENT TIME. AT A STOP SIGN AND ONCE AT A TURN LIGHT WHICH WAS THE WORST CAUSE I HAD TO GO STRAIGHT INTO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THAT WAS ALL IN A 2 WEEKS AFTER THE ONE MONTH OF HAVING THE TRUCK. IT WAS COMPLETELY STOCK. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER SHIP THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. 3 WEEKS LATER I BOUGHT SO MUD TIRES FOR IT. AND ABOUT 2 OR 3 WEEKS LATER I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STEERING BOX. WHEN ID BE AT A STOP OR NOT MOVING AT ALL, AM NOT ABLE TO TURN THE WHEELS AND IT MAKES A WEIRD SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. THIS STILL HAPPENS EVERYTIME TIME I DRIVE WHEN AM STOPPING OR JUST TURNED IT ON, ANYTIME AM NOT MOVING OR STEEPING ON THE GAS, AM NOT ABLE TO TURN THE WHEELS. I TOOK IT SHORTLY AFTER IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THEY TEST DROVE IT AND AGREED SOMETHING WAS WRONG SO THE SAID THEY FIX IT. IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO ORDER PARTS AND GET IT FIXED, BUT 3 DAYS AFTER GETTING IT BACK IT STARTED ACTING THE SAME. SO I TOOK IT BACK AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIRES I HAD??. BUT I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WITH THE SAME TRUCK AND TIRES AND THEY HAVE NO PROBLEMS. YET THEY WANTED ME TO PUT THE STOCK TIRES BACK AND TAKE IT TO THEM. HAVEN'T YET. DRIVING MY 2008 FORD F250 AT OVER 50 MILES PER HOUR AND HITTING BUMPS IN THE ROAD CAUSES THE CURSED "DEATH WOBBLE". IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. ONCE WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE AND MY WIFE DRIVING. ALMOST CAUSED HER TO WRECK BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE INTERSTATE. HAVE PAID FOR REPAIRS MULTIPLE TIMES, WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING AFTER REPAIRS.

DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK STARTS VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY SHAKING AND DOESN'T CEASE UNTIL YOU SLOW DOWN BELOW 20 MPH. THE FRONT END ALSO DOES THIS IF I'M DRIVING MORE THAN 25 MPH AND THE PAVEMENT CHANGES. THE COUNTY REPAVED A PORTION OF MY ROAD. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55. EVERYTIME I REACH THE CHANGE IN ASPHALT, I HAVE TO ALMOST STOP TO GET THE SHAKING TO STOP.

WE WHERE HAULING CATTLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND LOST POWER AT 2500 RPMS THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE ON A HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH WITH A LOAD OF CATTLE AND WITH NO WARNING THE TRUCK LOST POWER. WE TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND ARE NOW HAVING THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL INJECTOR PUMP REPLACED. THE CAB OF THE TRUCK HAS TO BE TAKEN OFF TO WORK ON THIS PUMP IT WILL BE AT LEAST 18 HOURS OF LABOR. FORD HAS REDESIGNED THE NEWER MOTORS SO THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL INJECTOR PUMP IS NOW IN THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE FUEL. THE FUEL DID NOT SPILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FUEL VENT FUEL TUBE FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

MY HUSBAND WOKE UP AND WENT OUT TO START HIS TRUCK SO IT WOULD BE WARM FOR OUR 1-YR OLD TWIN BABIES TO GET IN THE CAR. WHEN HE WENT TO PUT THE BABIES IN THE BACK SEAT, THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WAS BLOWN OUT FROM THE INSIDE OUT; THE GLASS LOOKED BUBBLED. HE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE GLASS SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THAT BECAUSE FORD DOESN'T USE THE PROPER SEAL ON IT'S REAR WINDOWS THAT THIS CAN OCCASIONALLY HAPPEN. THE WINDOW BLEW UP FROM THE HEAT INSIDE THE CAR...IT'S 30 DEGREES HERE THIS MORNING. WE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE ADVISED THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I OWN A FORD F250, MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT A 7 PIN TRAILER PLUG, WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT THE PLUG FALLS OFF THE CONNECTOR AS I AM DRIVING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250. THE VEHICLE HAS A 2006 PILOT TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRAILER CABLE THAT HOOKS ONTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE ORIGINAL DESIGN WAS FLAWED AND CAUSED HIM TO LOSE THE TRAILER LIGHTS, AS WELL AS UNNECESSARY WEAR AND TEAR TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 1,200. Clock spring frayed and uncoiled. Unknown steering issue till clockspring checked. Airbag inflator is unoperational. Current clockspring recall for Ford does not cover this vehicle. Widen your recall. Most owners would believe it to be a power steering issue with pump and fluid, like we did.

I have a 2008 ford f250 with 60,000 miles I bought it used about 7 years ago I only drive it to pull my trailer camping also I don't drive it much hoping a engine light will come on my vehicle has unintended acceleration it happen when I come to a stop light and my vehicle will unexpectedly tug forward to 0 to 60 mpg I have to push on my brakes and turn off the key and turn back on sometimes 6 times before it goes back to normal I called the dealer to get answer where I live in California and they said they cant diagnose it unless it duplicates its self and they will charge me $200 plus if they cant find the problem I did research and found 4 vehicles the same year that had this problem and there is a recall on some of these vehicle with the same problem with the same motor and year same electronic gas pedal but they are the expedition and other makes anyways this problem has almost cause me to get in plenty accidents I had the gas pedal and electronic sensor replace throttle body and both sensors replace and still have the problem the ford dealer are saying they never heard of this issue but I google unintended acceleration and see cars of all makes and model with this drive by wire electronic situation all I want is to get it fixed doing my research its a software issue in the computer

My truck is having the same issues as listed in the recalls but isn’t on the recall list. Running rough dash board turns off and loses power to the cab. Low voltage light comes on but batteries and alternator test fine. Factory installed lift blocks have cracked and caused can bushings to fail.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD BE NOTIFIED IN THE EVENT THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN FOR THE FAILURE EXPERIENCED. WHEN ATTEMTED TO CHECK TO SEE IF LIGHTS WOULD COME ON OR FLASHERS THE WRENCH ICON WOULD APPEAR, ALL INSTRUMENT WARNING CAME ON TO CHECK BREAK SYSYTEM BUT STILL NO LIGHTS OR FLASHER. MY VEHICLE HAS A DEATH WOBBLE WHEN HITTING A BUMP AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES; SPECIAL FIELD ACTION 09L02 DATED JANUARY 2018. I WASN'T AWARE THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT RECENTLY TALKED WITH SOMEONE WHO OWNS THE SAME VEHICLE AND HE HAPPENED TO ASK IF I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. UPON RECEIVING THE NOTICE AND RECALLING THAT CONVERSATION I THOUGHT I SHOULD FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. IN PARTICULAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RATTLE AND SHAKE IN A MANNER THAT MAKES THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL YOU COME TO A VIRTUAL STOP. I HAVE HAD ALMOST A DOZEN OCCURRENCES. MY MECHANIC CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND ALIGNMENT AND STEERING ISSUES, TIE RODS AND BALL JOINT ETC. THEN AFTER IT HAPPENED AGAIN SENT ME TO THE TIRE SHOP. THE TIRE SHOP CHECKED THE TIRES AND SENT ME BACK TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE VEHICLE AGAIN, REPLACED SOME WARN PARTS IN THE STEERING COLUMN (I BELIEVE IT WAS A BUSHING SOMEWHERE, BUT CAN CONFIRM IF NEEDED, I HAVE RECORDS SOMEWHERE). THAT DECREASED THE FREQUENCY, BUT I STILL HAVE EXPERIENCED IT TWICE SINCE THEN. IT SEEMS INTERMITTENT, AND FRANKLY ALMOST RANDOM AS I CAN NOT ALWAYS RECREATE THE CONDITIONS THAT CAUSE THE PROBLEM. I CAN TRAVEL ALONG THE SAME ROUTE, SAME SPEED, AND NOT ALWAYS EXPERIENCE THE LOSS OF CONTROL I CALL A DEATH WOBBLE. WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN, AS DESCRIBED IN THE SFA YOU HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS, APPLY THE BRAKES AND HOLD THE WHEEL STRAIGHT. IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND SCARED THE HELL OUT OF MY FATHER AND DAUGHTER WHEN THEY EXPERIENCED IT WITH ME ON A FREEWAY OVERPASS THAT CURVED AND I HAD TO BRAKE HARD AND COULDN'T STEER.

I WAS BACKING UP IN THE PARKING AREA OF MY HOUSE IN MY 2008 F250 (DIESEL), AND APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AND CHANGE DIRECTION. AS I STARTED BRAKING, THE ENGINE STARTED ACCELERATING, EVEN THOUGH I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES. WE PURCHASED THIS 2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY NEW AT THE FORD STORE IN SAN LEANDRO, CA ON JULY 21, 2007 AND CONTINUE TO BE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A 6.4 TURBO-DIESEL ENGINE. THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO TSB 07-26-2 (WIRING HARNESS DEFECT ON HPFP) ISSUED AUGUST 2007. ON THE MORNING OF MARCH 27, 2015, WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO A FREEWAY AND AT AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 50 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND THE ENGINE DIED. BRAKING AND STEERING WERE ALSO DIMINISHED. I GOT LUCKY AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID A COLLISION AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP (BUD ADAMS - CASTRO VALLEY, CA; BAR#:228593 CAL#:66801). DIAGNOSIS REVEALED A SHORT IN THE WIRING OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP GASKET WIRING HARNESS (THE SUBJECT OF TSB 07-26-2 WHEREIN FORD RECOGNIZED ON OR ABOUT AUGUST OF 2007 A PROBLEM WITH UNPROTECTED WIRING WITHIN THE HPFP WIRING HARNESS). REPAIRS WERE EXTREMELY COSTLY ($3,791.89 REDUCED TO $2,591.89) BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THIS INSTANTANEOUS FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, INJURY OR DEATH; IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. I GOT LUCKY. I SEE OTHER COMPLAINANTS WHO HAD HOURS STUCK IN THE DESERT, SOMEONE WITH A LOAD OF CATTLE STUCK WITHOUT WARNING, THE LIST GOES ON. IN EACH REPORTED INSTANCE THE OPERATOR DESCRIBED AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER PLANT WITH NO WARNING. I URGE THE NTSB TO INVESTIGATE THESE UNPLANNED SHUT DOWNS OF THIS VEHICLE'S POWER PLANT. I WAS DRIVING OUR 2008 F-250 2WD AN AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO TURN, LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS HAD OCCURRED A FEW TIMES BEFORE BUT I COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND ALTHOUGH A NEAR SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURRED, NO PROBLEM COULD BE FOUND. I WAS PLANNING TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL DEALER OVER THE WEEKEND. THE NEXT DAY I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND THE TRUCK ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT START. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP COVER GASKET WHICH INCLUDES A WIRING HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED DUE TO WIRE ABRASION AND A SHORTED WIRE. IN ADDITION, THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN RE-ENGINEERED TO INCLUDE A GUARD TO PROTECT THE WIRE FROM ABRASION. FROM INTERNET RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR INSTANCES, WITH SOME VEHICLES LOSING POWER WHILE IN MOTION. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF TRUCK AND THEY HAVE MADE SEVERAL SIMILAR REPAIRS. AS A SAFETY PROFESSIONAL FOR OVER 30 YEARS, THIS IS VERY UNNERVING TO SAY THE LEAST. HIGHWAY CRASHES OCCUR FAR TOO OFTEN DUE TO HUMAN ERROR WITHOUT HAVING KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECTS ADDING TO THE PROBLEM. WHILE TOWING A 10,000 POUND 5TH WHEEL TRAILER I NEEDED TO SPEED UP TO MERGE INTO THE LEFT LANE. THE TRUCK WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 50 MPH. I STEPPED DOWN AND ENTERED PASSING GEAR. AFTER THE MERGE I LET OFF THE THROTTLE BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE IN PASSING GEAR. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT RELEASE AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED REPEATEDLY TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE USING THE BRAKES. I THEN PRESSED THE CRUISE CONTROL "OFF" BUTTON REPEATEDLY TO NO AVAIL. AT THIS POINT I PRESSED AND HELD THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD WHILE THE DIESEL ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AT MAX POWER. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW TO ABOUT 30 MPH BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED TO OVERCOME THE FADING BRAKES. AT THIS POINT I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND COASTED TO A STOP. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE TWICE AND IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED AT MAX THROTTLE AND I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE KEY OFF. I CALLED FORD FOR A TOW. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND IT STARTED NORMALLY SO I CANCELLED THE TOW. THE TRUCK SEEMS TO BE WORKING NORMALLY AND CRUISE ALSO WORKS NORMALLY. THREE MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE OF A 2008 F-250 FORD HEAVY DUTY TRUCK, I NOTICED THE BRAKES SQUEAKING. ON 4 OCCASIONS I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK FOR SERVICE TO CHECK FOR THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST 3 TIMES AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE SQUEAK WAS CAUSED BY "ROAD DEBRIS", AND THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO PREVENT THIS FROM RECURRING.( THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED THE BRAKE PADS).ON THE FORTH OCCASION, THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE AND HAD 60 % CAPACITY. THIS OCCURRED ON 8/3/2010. OCTOBER 15, 2010 THE SQUEAKING WAS SO LOUD, WE TOOK IT TO A THIRD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE SEVERELY WORN AND RUSTED. IT REQUIRED A SLEDGE HAMMER TO REMOVE THEM DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF CORROSION THAT HAD BUILT UP. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE FINE. OUR CONCERN IS THAT THERE IS/WAS A DEFECT IN THE REAR BRAKES AND THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE WE PULL A HEAVY TRAILER. WE HAVE KEPT THE PARTS FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AT OUR RESIDENCE. THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES ALMOST CAUSED MY WIFE TO GO OFF THE ROAD WHILE EXITING A HIGHWAY. THE DEALERSHIP HAD POSSESSION OF MY TRUCK FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE 2010. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE STEERING AND BRAKE ISSUE. MOST RECENTLY WHILE OUT OF TOWN I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES 3 TIMES AFTER I SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A TURN. IT APPEARS THE LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKES LASTS LONGER. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT FORD MOTOR CO. DIAGNOSTIC PROTOCOL IS IF THE COMPUTER DOES NOT THROW A CODE OR A SERVICE TECH CANNOT GET THE VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH OVER AN UNEVEN SURFACE, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE. THE STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL ALSO FAILED. UPON DECELERATION THE FAILURE WOULD STOP. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE OWNER THAT SOME OF THIS YEAR AND MODEL HAD THE "DEATH SHAKE" BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT; SHE WAS ADVISED TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.

I HAVE A 2008 F-250 S/D MANUFACTURED 02/08 AT THE KENTUCKY PLANT. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN APRIL 2009 AND NOW HAS JUST UNDER 8000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAVE TWICE EXPERIENCED UNCONTROLLED INVOLUNTARY ACCELERATION WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE COMMON ELEMENTS OF THIS HAVE BEEN THAT IT OCCURRED AFTER A PERIOD OF EXTENDED DRIVING AT ABOUT 70 MPH, USING CRUISE CONTROL, JUST AFTER AN EXHAUST CLEANING CYCLE, AND WHEN I OVERRODE THE CRUISE CONTROL TO ACCELERATE TO PASS A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN PULLING BACK IN TO THE TRAFFIC LANE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE AND CAN BE CONTROLLED ONLY BY MAINTAINING HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES UNTIL A SAFE LOCATION CAN BE FOUND TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND CUT OFF THE IGNITION. A RESTART IN NEUTRAL WILL RESULT IN AN IMMEDIATE RUN-UP IN RPM WHICH REQUIRES A SHUT DOWN OF THE IGNITION. THERE ARE NO "CHECK ENGINE" OR "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHTS DISPLAYED, AND ACCORDING TO FORD DEALERSHIPS, NO CODES REGISTERED IN THE PCM. IN BOTH CASES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE (WITHOUT USE OF CRUISE CONTROL) BY PRESSING A "RESET" BUTTON LOCATED ON THE TOP OF A WHITE SENSOR LOCATED IN THE AIR INTAKE DUCT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. FORD SAYS THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND CONSEQUENTLY CANNOT "MAKE A FIX". I AM MOST CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER, BRAKE, AND STEERING ABILITY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURES, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY APPROXIMATELY 100 TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE APPLYING FOOT BRAKE PEDAL, FOOT ALSO DEPRESSES GAS PEDAL. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY WHEN HAVING TO STOP QUICKLY. CONDITION INCREASES STOPPING DISTANCE. CONDITION IS BAD WITH A STANDARD TRANSMISSION AND MUCH MORE SO WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SELLING DEALER AND ANOTHER DEALER IN TEXAS SAID THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT. 2008 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN FALL 2007- WITH ZERO MILES. APPX. 3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE, TRUCKS CAB RUBBED THE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS INTO..CAUSING THE TRUCK TO HAVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND DAMAGES. TRUCK WAS UN-ABLE TO BE DRIVEN OR USED FOR APPX. 2 WEEKS, DUE TO REPAIRS. PROBLEM WITH WIRING HARNESS FIXED UNTIL APPX. 4 MONTHS AGO, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, TRUCK SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AND WOULD NOT START BACK. HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME TRUCK IS DRIVEN.... TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-250 SD. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, CRUISE CONTROL, AND AIR CONDITIONING FAILED. ALL OF THE GAUGES DISPLAYED ZERO. THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE, BUT NOTHING WOULD DISPLAY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO STUTTER AND THEN THE GAUGES WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS FAULTY AND WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
