The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving over a bump at a high rate of speed, the contact experienced the death wobble and the contact temporarily lost control of the vehicle. The contact slowed down and the violent shaking ceased. The contact stated that the tie rods, ball joints, and other front-end parts were replaced to reduce the risk of the failure recurring. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH and towing a trailer, the contact experienced the death wobble. The vehicle drifted from the far-left lane over to the far-right lane and the contact lost control of the vehicle. The contact called a local dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer and was provided a case number. The manufacturer advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 263,000.

When driving over 55mph and hitting a bump, pothole, etc....the death wobble starts taking excessive force to keep the truck on the road with the steering wheel nowhere aligned to where the tires are aimed. Dealership stated they wouldn't take the vehicle on trade due to the steering box needing to be addressed first. no warning lamps illuminate. Happens every time while driving from mileage 170K - 189K.

We have experienced the well-reported Death Wobble multiple times - beginning approx in 2020 - going approx 55 mph on a one-lane highway and hit a slight bump in the road. Could not control the vehicle, the steering wheel started shaking violently as we headed for a concrete bridge. Had to stop the vehicle completely. Then we experienced the same Incident on different roads. We had the vehicle front end fixed by a reputable mechanic, and we’ve ended up having the front end suspension rebuilt, so far 3 times. The latest incident was in 2024, we experienced it again driving about 60 mph. This truck is standard stock - has not been lifted or modified in any way. We do not drive it very often as it is used as a farm vehicle.

The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted and informed about the failure. The manufacturer confirmed that the VIN was not under recall and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 160,000.

Driving on highway at about 60 mph and truck wheel started wobbling violently ….. searing wheel violently oscillating right left right left uncontrollably!!! Finally stopped after slowing down to below speed on highway … totally unsafe !!! My shoulders and neck hurt for several days from trying to keep the truck straight. Thank God it was not a busy freeway at the moment or I would have been hit or my horse trailer which I was pulling. No way to stop the violent oscillation except slow to almost stop

The truck has developed the "death wobble" at speeds between 50 and 60mph. Driving becomes uncontrollable as the truck shakes and bounces very hard and I have to rapidly come to a stop. I've had some work done on it at a local shop but it hasn't solved the problem. It's basically not highway road worthy but I can drive it around town.

I was going 65 MPH in center lane, hit a pothole. The right front wheel began to vibrate wildly. I thought it was going to fall off. I slammed my brakes and veered sharply right to reach the breakdown lane. We were nearly in a violent collision. The car behind me slammed his breaks, leaving skid marks, the car in the lane to my right was forced into the breakdown lane, also leaving skid marks. We had 200 miles to home which we drove slowly without further incident. I had to replace: tie rod ends, steering damper, ball joint, stabilizer bar. Truck needed an alignment. $1008.37. 4 months later, I hit a pothole. The LEFT front tire vibrated wildly. Now I knew what do do.

The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) heater and the sending unit to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater to be replaced for the second time. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure for a third time. The contact took the vehicle back to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure for a fourth time. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the DEF heater, the DEF pump, and the sending unit to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure for a fifth time. The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 68-70 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump and experienced a death wobble. The contact attempted to turn the steering wheel with force, but the vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The contact developed blisters on the palms of his hands from gripping the steering wheel, but medical attention was not received. Police arrived on the scene; however, no police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the contact was informed that he needed to pay for the diagnostic. The vehicle was then towed to the residence, where the contact replaced the steering gearbox, ball joints, tie rod ends, track bar, shocks, front springs, and wheel bearings. The failure recurred. The vehicle was later taken to three different independent mechanics; however, the cause of failure was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.

The steering is lock up while drive you Issued a recall for Meijer model vehicle but my vehicle is not included and the steering is locking up while driving down the road that acts like the power steering pump is going out this having the same problem with the cylinder as the others

Own a 2011 F250 super duty and have experienced the death wobble on numerous occasions. I’m getting concerned because it has been getting worse. It takes longer for the oscillation to dissipate as I do my best to slow down without losing control. Please help all who have experienced this to get resolution without the high cost that is related. It is a danger to ourselves and possibly others as I control the vehicle on a busy highway and others have to brake. Thank you, Bill

MY 2011 F-250 KING RANCH DIESEL HAS A 'DEATH WOBBLE'. I BOUGHT IT ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIME AND MY STEP SON ONCE. Truck started leaking fuel and then the engine shut down the next day it was drove, while driving! I’ve received 2 quotes and need the whole fuel system replaced due to CP4 pump failing which will cost about $13,000! This is the same issue as the 24S78 Ford recall but my truck doesn’t fall in the correct year! I still owe 10k on this vehicle so it’s basically totaled now.

The tires were installed on 8.22.2025 and on the following Thursday, August 28, 2025, all of the tires had low pressure. I returned to the Orange City, FL Tire Kingdom per the managers' (Brittany) request and the mechanic filled all of the tires and said that they were not completely filled when they were installed. The following day, Friday, 8/29, I began my return trip to my home in North Carolina. Within a few hours, the driver’s side front tire exploded and my truck was on the rim of the tire, swerving into the adjacent lane on I-95. I was able to get the truck off of the highway, onto the nearest exit ramp without being hit. I have never been that close to being killed on the interstate. [XXX] came and put the spare on and while I was waiting along the highway I called Tire Kingdom and was advised by [XXX] at the Orange City store to take the truck to the nearest Mavis or Tire Kingdom. The nearest one was Mavis in Brunswick, Ga, about 30 minutes north of the incident. The Brunswick store was closing and I was advised to bring my truck in at 8:00 am. I stayed at a hotel nearby and had the truck there at 7:45 am. I was told that they did not have four replacement tires in stock and could probably have them by Tuesday as it was Labor Day Weekend. They stated that they could replace only the blown tire and “take a look” at the other three tires. There was absolutely no concern for my safety or welfare, and no appreciation of the amount of risk I would be undertaking to continue to drive on the other tires. I went to Firestone and replaced all of the tires and returned home safely. I contacted Tire Kingdom three more times and was advised to return the tires to the Asheville, NC Mavis Tire store for evaluation. The manager, [XXX] and a mechanic inspected all of the tires and immediately stated that all of them were defective.The belt had separated, the sidewall was weak, and the rim/beading was bent. DEALER FOUND BELT SEPARATION IN RIGHT-REAR TIRE. THEN A MONTH LATER, WHILE TRAVELING AT 70 MPH WITH NO LOAD, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT APPROX. 12,000 MI. OUR 2011 FORD F250 TRUCK IS DOWN SHIFTING EXTREMELY HARD FROM 3RD GEAR TO 1ST GEAR (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) WHEN BRAKING. IT SHIFTS SO HARD THAT THE SEAT BELTS WILL LOCK UP AND IT WILL BARK THE TIRES ALMOST AS IF YOU HAD SLAMMED ON BRAKES. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL TIMES THAT WE HAVE BEEN ALMOST REAR ENDED BY CARS BEHIND US WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND THE SUDDEN SHIFT OCCURS. When driving it looses power. Had diagnostic scan it came up with code for injector 6 misfire and cylinder 8 conttribution. 6 cylinder is a little weak, monitor misfires and notice 6 cuts out.

At 122,000 miles the vehicle no has begun to have the "death wobble." Extreme shaking at 40mph+. Ford has no recall for this issue. My local dealer/service center is charging full price to remedy the issue. However, the exact repair is unclear to them (e.g. steering dampener, shocks, u-joints, ???, etc). I suspect this will become a "throw parts at it" strategy and very expensive. Ford should back this issue up, based on so many reports of occurrences online from owners.

When traveling on the interstate at aprox. 70-75 mph the steering wheel began to violently shake to the point that I was worried if I could keep control of the truck. Fortunately there was no one behind me as I had to slam on my brakes and slow to 40 mph before the shaking stopped. I was able to make it home without this occuring again.

I traveled less than a quarter mile down the road and the truck started knocking I turned back towards my house & I was only traveling around 5 miles an hour then I heard a loud pop no warning lights came on or even an alarm sounding before this happened after the loud pop the truck immediately locked up and started pouring dark smoke from the engine compartment I jumped out of the truck & ran for cover thinking it was going to burst into flames the truck has 125000 miles on it roughly the truck is available for inspection from anyone who is interested in finding out what caused what could be a very hazardous potentially deadly occurrence happening to anyone else in a different setting on a freeway or highway in a high traffic area it definitely would have been a very different situation I live in a tiny town out in the sticks as. I also mentioned I was literally less than 1000 ft from where I live

I HAVE HAD TWO INCIDENTS OF WINDOWS EXPLODING ON ME OUT OF NOWHERE. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED ON 2/21/20 NEAR CEDARVALE, NM. THEN, JUST YESTERDAY(8/9/20), I WAS SITTING AT A PICNIC AREA ALONGSIDE THE SAME ROAD(RT 247) AND WITHIN 10 MILES OF WHERE THE OTHER OCCURENCE TOOK PLACE, AND MY BACK REAR WINDOW OF MY TRUCK JUST EXPLODED OUT OF NOWHERE AGAIN. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH, AND THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.

I CAN NOT GET THIS SOFT BREAK TO GO AWAY! IT NEVER HAD A SOLID BREAK BUT I BOUGHT IT USED AND FIGURED IT NEEDED A BREAK JOB. I HAD CALIPERS TO START LOCKING UP ONE AFTER THE OTHER WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF EACH OTHER, SO I REPLACE THEM ALL. THEN THE NEW ONES STARTED GETTING HOT. SO I REPLACE ALL THE BREAK LINES AND MASTER CYLINDER. AFTER ALL THAT I STILL HAVE A VERY SOFT BREAK, ALMOST AS IF THERE IS AIR IN THE LINES. I KNOW AIR CAN'T BE THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE BREAK SYSTEM WAS BLEED USING A MACHINE. NOW AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE COME ACROSS A LOT OF PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS EXACT ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED, THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL WHEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY HAVING BREAK ISSUE COME UP BECAUSE THEY FEEL SPONGY WHEN THEY ARE WORKING AT THERE BEST.

THE LEFT REAR BRAKE GETS HOT AND SMOKES AND WONT RELEASE. WE TOOK IT TO OUR FORD DEALERSHIP WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DROVE IT AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. WE'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ON THAT TIRE ONLY NOW 3 TIMES. EACH TIME THE BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY WORN THROUGH THE METAL, THE ROTOR HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE CALIPERS. AGAIN THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED WITH THE LEFT REAR TIRE. THE OTHER TIRES HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKES ON THEM. SOMETHING HAS BEEN WRONG WITH THIS TIRE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS BRAND NEW.

REAR BRAKE LINE (STEEL) RUPTURED RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES AT ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE BRAKE LINE WAS ROUTED TO CLOSE TO THE GAS TANK RESULTING IN THE LINE RUBBING ON THE GAS TANK. OVERTIME, THE COATING ON THE LINE FAILED AND THEN THE EXPOSED BARE METAL RUSTED. WHEN THE METAL BECAME TO THIN, THE PRESSURE IN THE LINE RUPTURED THE BRAKE LINE AT THE THIN/RUSTED LOCATION. ALL BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT AND THE BRAKES NO LONGER WORKED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED ON A CITY STREET. IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED SO THAT THE BRAKE LINES COULD NOT CONTACT THE GAS TANK, THIS FAILURE WOULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while making a turn in either direction, there was an abnormal crunching sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the sound was caused by a misalignment between the cab and the bed of the truck. Due to the failure the cab mount bushings became worn and needed to be replaced or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact was provided a case number and was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

I WAS SETTING IN EXIT LANE OF THE WEST BANK EXPRESSWAY WHEN A CAR LOST CONTROL SLAMMING INTO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY TRUCK. FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE OUR 2011 FORD F250 (DIESEL) WAS NEW A FAULTY EGT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN WITH ESSENTIALLY NO WARNING. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT SO THERE WAS NO DANGER OF INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE UNDERWAY AT 70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WITHOUT ENDANGERING OTHERS. THE SHUTDOWN TODAY, HOWEVER, OCCURRED AS WE PREPARED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A BUSY TWO LANE ROAD. WHEN HITTING UNEVEN PAYMENT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT TIRES AND STEERING STARTS TO SHAKE. AS SPEED DECREASES, THE WOBBLE INCREASES TO THE POINT WHERE THE VIOLENT SHAKING WILL NOT STOP UNTIL ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP. I FOLLOWED THE NHTSA RECOMMENDATION OF 65 PSI AND OTHER PRESSURES AND IT HAS NO AFFECT ON THE WOBBLE. IMO I BELIEVE THAT AS THE TIRES WEAR DOWN, THEY HAVE LESS TRACTION ON THE ROAD SURFACE WHICH ALLOWS FOR THE OSCILLATION OF THE TIRES TO OCCUR. PUTTING ON NEW TIRES IS A BANDAID FOR A DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I HAVE HEARD THAT CHANGING THE POSITION OF THE AXLE (I BELIEVE CAMBER) CAN CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH SHIMS. IN MY CASE, I NOTICED THAT THE SHAKING BECAME WORSE AS I SLOWED DOWN. THE NATURAL REACTION IS TO BRAKE WHEN THE WOBBLE BEGINS. I DECIDED THAT THE NEXT TIME IT OCCURRED, I WOULD SPEED UP. IT WORKS. THE WOBBLE CORRECTS ITSELF IN A FEW SECONDS AND IS NEVER NEAR AS SEVERE AS WHEN I SLOW DOWN. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO DEEPER THAN HAS BEEN IN THE PAST. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. FORD, YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.

OUR 2011 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY (DIESEL) HAS ISSUES WITH THE EGT SENSORS. THIS IS THE 4TH ONE TO GO BAD. WE HAVE HAD OTHERS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT FORD HAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE SENSORS AND NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT RECTIFYING THIS. THIS TIME WE WERE IN LEXINGTON, KY (OVER 2 HOURS FROM HOME). THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME PREVIOUSLY WE COULD COULD SAFELY DRIVE THE TRUCK, SO WE CAME HOME. THERE IS CERTAINLY A PROBLEM WITH THESE EGT SENSORS THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.

Hold down clamps for the fuel injectors are breaking or coming loose on diesel engine. Injectors are not visible for a person to look at as they are buried by covers. Due to the injector coming loose it would allow combustion gasses to escape the cylinder causing other injectors to become damaged and possibly causing a fire. This issue has happened 2 times on my truck and both times the Ford Technicians stated that it is not something that should happen. Vehicle was inspected/fixed by Ford dealership Techs back in March of 2021 and again in May of 2021(still there at this time). A check engine light came on and i immediately drove to the dealership both times. I will provide a picture of a Ford tech site where they talk about this issue happening and their internal memo. Ford at this time refuses to fix the issue and is making me pay for their defective parts.

7/7/17 - 2011 FORD F250, 6.7L DIESEL ENGINE, MILEAGE 79530. (PURCHASED DECEMBER 2010). I WAS PULLING A SMALL TRAILER UP AN INCLINE (8%) ON I-64 IN WV. ON THIS PORTION OF THE INTERSTATE THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY PULL OFF SHOULDER. THE TRUCK OPERATED NORMALLY FOR THE FIRST 3 MILES ASCENDING THE HILL. DURING THE 4TH MILE, THE TRUCK BEGAN TO GRADUALLY, BUT PROGRESSIVELY LOSE POWER, GOING FROM 70 MPH DOWN TO 0. AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUTTER SLIGHTLY, AND CONTINUED TO DO SO UNTIL IT STOPPED IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC AND STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LAMPS OR CHIMES THAT WENT OFF BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A 'STOP SAFELY NOW' WARNING, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER WARNING INDICATORS ' BUT IT DIDN'T ILLUMINATE. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART. I IMMEDIATELY CALL 911 TO REPORT THAT MY VEHICLE WAS DISABLED IN THE ROADWAY. AFTER BEING STUCK IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT THE TRUCK AND THE TRAILER BACKWARDS SAFELY, OFF OF THE ROADWAY, INTO THE DRAINAGE DITCH, AFTER A BREAK IN TRAFFIC. UPON HAVING IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS GOING TO NEED A MOTOR, AND IT SOUNDED LIKE IT HAD SPUN THE BEARINGS ON ONE OF THE ENGINE RODS. THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP, BUT IDLED VERY ROUGH. I CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE IN FACT METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THE FUEL WAS NOT CHECKED FOR CONTAMINATION. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO FORD'S RECOMMENDED SERVICE GUIDELINES. BECAUSE OF THE COST TO ME TO REPAIR ($16,000 OR MORE), I'VE ELECTED NOT TO CONTINUE WITH DIAGNOSIS (AT $120 PER HOUR) TO DETERMINE REASON FOR FAILURE. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RAPIDLY LOOSE POWER. THE WARNING LIGHT SHOWED "REDUCING POWER". THE TRUCK QUICKLY LOST POWER BUT I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT FROM THE TRAVEL LANES AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND I LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKE FUNCTIONS. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DUE TO "CONTAMINATION" IN THE FUEL SUPPLY THE FUEL REGULATOR STUCK OPEN AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION BY ME AT THE DEALERSHIP I EXAMINED THE METAL PORTION OF THE FUEL REGULATOR WHICH HAD RUST LIKE CORROSION ON IT DUE TO MOISTURE IN THE FUEL. FORD'S POSITION IS THAT THE MOISTURE IN THE DIESEL FUEL IS "CONTAMINATION" AND THEREFORE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE SYSTEM HAS TWO IN LINE FILTERS ONE OF WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO SEPARATE WATER FROM THE FUEL BECAUSE DIESEL FUEL HAS A CERTAIN MOISTURE CONTENT IN IT. FORD WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REPAIR AND IS RECOMMENDING A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL SYSTEM OR THE REMAINING WARRANTY WILL BE VOIDED. THE REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE IN THE $10,000 TO $12,000 RANGE. THE DEF TANK CONTINUES TO THROW A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WARNING. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX TO THE ISSUE. SAN TAN FORD HAD NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM UNTIL FORD RELEASE A FIX AND ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE ARE 120 PEOPLE WAITING FOR TANKS. HOW CAN FORD CONTINUE TO SELL THESE F250'S IF THE DEF TANKS ARE NOT WORKING AND LEAVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF WORKING ORDER. "STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE" SCCM (FORD P/N 3F944) PLASTIC BODY BROKE, ALLOWING THE "MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH" (FORD P/N 13K359) TO SEPARATE FROM ITS ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND BECOME INOPERABLE. THE SCCM PLASTIC BODY IS QUITE FLIMSY AND THE PLASTIC IS BRITTLE - INSTEAD OF JUST BREAKING, IT SHATTERED LIKE GLASS. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AT NIGHT DURING A RAINSTORM 3-4-16. HAD JUST EXITED ONTO AN URBAN ARTERIAL FROM A FREEWAY. INSTANTLY THE WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HIGH BEAM BECAME INOPERABLE. VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING HOME (1 MILE FROM THE EVENT). NEXT DAY I WAS AMAZED AT HOW EXTENSIVELY THE PLASTIC SHATTERED, HAVING NO RECALL OF TREATING IT HARSHLY - JUST USING THE DEVICE IN THE NORMAL FASHION.

MY FORD F-250 STARTS SHAKING VERY VERY BAD WHEN I HIT A SMALL BUMP ON THE FREEWAY. TO GET THE VERY SCARY WOBBLE TO STOP I NEED TO SLOW DOWN ON THE FREEWAY BETWEEN 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 50 TIMES. I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN 3 TIMES WITHIN TEN MILES BEFORE. SLOWING DOWN TO 20-30 ON THE FREEWAY HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. ON 11/03/2014, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2011 FORD F-250 6.7 LITER DIESEL ON E. KIEHL AVE IN SHERWOOD, AR. THE VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF LEAVING HER TO HAVE TO NEGOTIATE TRAFFIC WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. SHE WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CRASH. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR TRUCK. I JUST HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED ON 09/30/2014 WHERE THE OIL AND FUEL FILTERS WERE CHANGED. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO NORTH POINT FORD IN NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR. THEY DREW FUEL OUT OF THE SYSTEM PAST THE SECONDARY FILTER. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL WAS CLOUDY AND CONTAINED METAL FRAGMENTS AND WATER. THE VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER A 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. HOWEVER, FORD ADVISED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM HAD FAILED AND THAT IT WAS DUE TO CONTAMINATED FUEL SO THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. THE REPAIR BILL IS A LITTLE OVER $11,000.00. I HAD JUST FUELED UP ON 11/01/2014 AT MURPHY USA IN SHERWOOD SO I CALLED THE BUREAU OF STANDARDS FOR THE STATE AND FILED A COMPLAINT ON MURPHY. THE STATE CHECKED THE MURPHY AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE WITHIN STANDARDS. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY SENT AN AGENT OUT AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS MECHANICAL FAILURE SO ITS NOT AN INSURANCE ISSUE. I SEEM TO BE GETTING THE RUN AROUND BY FORD. FORD'S HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM FAILED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IF SHE HAD MADE IT TO THE HIGHWAY BEFORE THIS HAPPED, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN DOING 70 MPH. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. CLOUDY FUEL WITH WATER AND METAL AFTER THE SECONDARY FILTER WOULD INDICATE A FAILURE IN THE FILTRATION SYSTEM. EVEN SO, FORD'S DESIGN OF THEIR FUEL SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THAT IN THE SLIGHTEST. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2013 WITH 99,000 MILES ON IT. IN JANUARY OF 2014 I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE CODE READ. AT THIS POINT THE DIESEL TECH COMES AND TELLS ME THAT MY FUEL SYSTEM HAS BEEN CONTAMINATED AND THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM AND THAT I SHOULD CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO COVER THE COST. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SENT OUT AN INSPECTOR WHO TOOK SEVERAL FUEL SAMPLES. The contact checked and confirmed that the door was securely closed. The contact stated that occasionally after closing and locking the door, the alarm would inadvertently activate after approximately an hour. The dealer was contacted and it was suggested that the vehicle be taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 234,395.

AT 89,000 APPROX. MILES, THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING FAILED AND ALL BUTTONS BECAME USELESS ON THE WHEEL. THE MECHANIC STATES IT MUST BE REPAIRED ASAP AS THIS WILL CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO EITHER NOT DEPLOY OR RANDOMLY DEPLOY WHILE DRIVING. THIS WAS A RECALL ON F150S AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE F250 AS WELL SINCE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR MYSELF AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. DUE TO IT 'NOT' BEING A RECALL, I WAS TOLD BY FORD THEY JUST HAD A BAD RUN OF VEHICLES AROUND THAT TIME AND SINCE IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED THEN WE WOULD JUST HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OVER $500 TO ENSURE MY SAFETY, BUT THE NEW ONES SUPPOSEDLY ARE MUCH BETTER. I DID NOT DISCOVER THE DISCREPANCY BETWEEN FORD'S PUBLISHED RATINGS AND THE ACTUAL CAPACITY OF THE TRUCK AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO FOOT NOTES IN THE PRINTED BROCHURE INDICATING THE PUBLISHED RATINGS WOULD NOT APPLY TO MY TRUCK AND BECAUSE OF WHERE FORD PLACED THE TIRE AND LOADING INFORMATION LABEL. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA, FOR 'VEHICLES OTHER THAN MOTORCYCLES OR TRAILERS, THE LABEL MUST BE AFFIXED TO EITHER THE HINGE PILLAR, DOOR-LATCH POST, OR THE DOOR EDGE THAT MEETS THE DOOR-LATCH POST, NEXT TO THE DRIVER'S SEATING POSITION.' FORD PLACED THE LABEL ON THE BODY BELOW THE B PILLAR AND FACING DOWN. THE LABEL COULD NOT BE READ WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND COULD ONLY BE READ BY SITTING OR KNEELING ON THE GROUND. I DISCOVERED A JULY 30, 2014 ARTICLE IN AUTOMOTIVE NEWS THAT REVEALED STANDARD EQUIPMENT PARTS WERE REMOVED FROM SUPER DUTY TRUCKS BEGINNING WITH THE 2011 MODEL YEAR WHEN DETERMINING THE MAXIMUM PAYLOAD. THE PARTS INCLUDED, BUT WERE NOT LIMITED TO, THE SPARE TIRE, TIRE JACK, RADIO, AND CENTER CONSOLE. THE FORD BROCHURE DID NOT INDICATE THAT THE RATINGS WERE ESTABLISHED BY REMOVING STANDARD EQUIPMENT. WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 60 MPH THE DASH STARTING CHIMING AND GAVE ME A STOP SAFELY NOW MESSAGE. I SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS VEHICLES HAS EXPERIENCED TWO INCIDENTS OF THE FAILURE OF THE EGT EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSORS. THE FIRST IN OCT. 2014 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED AND FIXED. AT THE TIME I WAS A SURPRISED TO DISCOVER THE PURPOSE OF THE SENSORS, BUT NOT OVERLY CONCERNED. IN APRIL 2014, LEAVING TOWN ON A SUNDAY MORNING WITH A HORSE TRAILER IN TOW, AT 40 MPH ON A CITY STREET RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT TOLD ME TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND WITHIN 60 SECONDS THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN LEAVING ME IN THE RIGHT LANE OF A BUSY STREET WITH TWO HORSE IN THE TRAILER. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH, THE CAR WILL START TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY! WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN ON A FREEWAY OUR V6 ECOBOOST F150 TRUCK ENGINE STARTS TO SHUDDER, SHAKE AND THEN RAPIDLY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THEN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHEN ACCELERATING. OUR VEHICLE BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT STOPPED RUNNING. AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED. ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WORKED THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO SHUDDER AND SHAKE WITH LIMITED ABILITY TO ACCELERATE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 3 HOUR DRIVE. OVER A PERIOD OF MANY MONTHS THE PROBLEM RECURRED MANY TIMES, ALMOST ALWAYS WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. THE PROBLEM WAS EVEN WORSE WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND TOWING A BOAT TRAILER. THE PROBLEM IS ESPECIALLY HORRIFIC WHEN TOWING A TRAILER AND DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS IN THE RAIN. THE PROBLEM ALSO OCCURS NO MATTER THEN WEATHER WHEN DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS OF KENTUCKY, TENNESSEE AND NORTHERN GEORGIA. THE TRUCK IS TOTALLY UNDEPENDABLE. ALTHOUGH THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED! ON TOP OF THE LOSS OF POWER, A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ON ANY ROAD ESPECIALLY A FREEWAY, THE MILES PER GALLON HAS NEVER BEEN HIGHER THAN 18MPG WHEN DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 55MPH (CONFIRMED BY A FORD MECHANIC) SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE PRODUCT ADVERTISEMENT BY FORD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-250 SD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 66 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND THERE WAS LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. LATER WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO WOBBLE UNCONTROLLABLY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE LEFT ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,306.

MY 2011 F250 SUPER DUTY HAS SHOOK SINCE THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 60-75MPH IT SHAKES TO THE POINT WHERE ITS UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE. THE PASSENGER SEAT SHAKES, SOMETIMES WORSE THAN OTHERS. NO MATTER WHAT THE DEALER DOES TO THE WHEELS IT DOES NOT CHANGE. THEY HAVE ROTATED, REBALANCED, SWAPPED WITH ANOTHER NEW TRUCK, CHECKED ALIGNMENT AND NO CHANGE. *JS

INTERMITTENTLY BETWEEN 35 MPH AND 85 MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL START TO SHUDDER FOR 5-15 SECONDS AND DURING THIS TIME, SOMETIMES WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY LOSS OF THROTTLE. IT GENERALLY HAPPENS DURING OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER A REGEN / CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER MESSAGE APPEARS. THE "SHUDDER" COULD ALSO BE DESCRIBED AS A "LUGGING" SENSATION. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED. THE FIRE ORIGINATED WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT OR AROUND THE MASTER CYLINDER AND WIRING HARNESS AREA AS IT ENTERS THE FIREWALL. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED IN THE FIRE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO GROUNDED THE FRONT ROTORS, REPLACED THE FRONT CALIPERS AND BRAKE PADS, BUT THE FAILURE WASN'T CORRECTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT HIS CLAIM WAS ESCALATED AND SOMEONE WOULD CALL HIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7500.
