TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE DRIVING 55-60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I PURCHASED MY CAR 7/31/2012 WITH 113,000 MILES. I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL FOR THE RPM SURGE IN 2013. CONCERNED, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AND HADN'T REACHED THE 150,000 MILE LIMIT, THEN I DIDNT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT REPAIRS FOR THE TIME BEING. I THEN ASKED WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I SURPASSED THE MILE LIMIT AND THE PROBLEM SURFACED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT AS LONG AS A RECALL EVER EXISTED, THEN FORD WOULD ALWAYS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT RESPONSE, (BECAUSE THERE WOULD NOT BE A 10 YR /150,000 LIMIT IN THE LETTER) I QUESTIONED THE MANAGER WHO CONFIRMED THE TECH'S ANSWER. IN 2014 I RELOCATED TO LANCASTER CA. I TOO HAVE HAD NUMEROUS DANGEROUS CLOSE CALLS WITH THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE BREAKING; ONE BEING IN A SCHOOL PARKING LOT IN HIGH TEMPERATURES. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 5/2016 AND JUST AS EXPECTED, THEY WONT REPAIR MY CAR WITHOUT COST. THIS IS WRONG AND VERY DANGEROUS AND HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS WILL DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FOR THE MANY PEOPLE STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS.

MY WIFE WAS GOING TO WORK AND THE ACCELERATOR STUCK. SHE GOT THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND OFF THE STATE HIGHWAY. SHE CALLED ME CRYING AND VERY SHOOK UP THAT MORNING AND FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN KILLED. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY WENT AND GOT THE CAR. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE PROBLEM, THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A PRICE OF $676.00 PLUS LABOR. THEY CALLED FORD MOTOR CO FOR FINANCIAL HELP AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL AND THEY CANNOT HELP. I DID NOT THINK THIS IS RIGHT. I KNOW THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, BUT WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT. THERE WAS A MANUFACTURERS RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE RECALL WAS FOR THE CLEANING OF THE THROTTLE BODY ONLY AND NOT THE REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

IT NOW HAS 29000 MILES ON IT AND THE REAR PADS ARE WORN OUT AND FORD SAYS THE ROTORS NEED REPLACING. THE BRAKES DRAG IN THE REAR. FORD SAYS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DESIGN PROBLEM AND A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THERE ARE REPORTS OF THE BRAKES WEARING COMPLETELY INTO THE ROTOR AND LOCKING CAUSING ACCIDENTS. The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the instrument cluster lights turned became inoperable. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact stated that the instrument cluster lights illuminated after 5 minutes. The contact was able to continue driving. However, the failure reoccurred on four different occasions. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys who was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

THIS IS A LONG ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR FIVE MONTHS. STARTED OUT HAVING THE BATTERY CLUSTER LIGHT ON & CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM. FOUND CHARGING A LITTLE LOW, HAD NEW ALTERNATOR INSTALLED. THEN WITH A WEEK, BATTERY, ENGINE LIGHT & AIRBAG LIGHT CLUSTER ARE ON, THEN THE FUN BEGAN, THEN ALL THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GOES OFF AND YOU HAVE NO TURN SIGNALS, NO FANS, NO RADIO, NO ELECTRIC WINDOWS, NO DOOR LOCKS AND NO BREAK LIGHTS, (BUT BREAK LIGHTS DO COME ON WHEN YOU APPLY BREAKS AND THE BACK-UP LIGHTS COME ON. THE SYSTEM CAN COME AND GO ON AND OFF WHILE MOVING AND SETTING STILL. HAVE HAD SYSTEM CHECKED AND CODED, THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM EXCEPT THAT IT IS A ELECTRIC PROBLEM, HAD ALL WIRING CHECKED, CLEANED. NO,FRAYED WIRE FOUNF AND NO DEFECTIVE COUPLING. AGAIN I GET IT A WIRE THAT IS GROUNDING AND CAUSING PROBLEM. ALL THE FUSES ARE OK AND KNOW HAVE BLOWN. THE ONLY THING I KNOW IS THIS PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO FORD BACK IN 2006 OR 2007 AND THEY HAVE NOT PUT OUT ANY RECALL ON IT AND THERE DEALERS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WHAT TO DO BUT THEY WILL TRY AND FIND IT AT WHERE HOURLY RATE AND IT COULD BE A HOUR OR SEVERAL HOURS TO FIND PROBLEM. AS I'VE SAID THIS IS ON GOING IT CLEAR UP AND LAST FOR A WEEK UP TO SIX WEEKS AT A TIME.

WHILE DRIVING, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BOTTOMS OUT ON THE SPEEDOMETER, TACH, AND ALL OTHER WARNINGS - BACKUP LIGHTS COME ON AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS GO OUT.. SOMETIMES IT WILL COME BACK ON BY PRETTY QUICKLY, OTHER TIMES IT WILL BE THAT WAY FOR A WEEK OR MORE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND FROM RESEARCH I'VE DONE IS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM? THERE IS A TSB 06-17-9 DATED 9/4/2006 BUT NO REMEDY BY FORD. ALSO AFTER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED AT THE RECOMMENDED MILEAGE THE TRANSMISSION THEN STARTED SLIPPING AND HAD TO EVENTUALLY BE REPLACED.

I would be driving on highway my wrench light would come on and my car would come to a crawl I always have kids in my car I could easily be rear ended and maybe hurt or killed I have to find a place to pull off where people behind me is cussing me out they think I did on purpose I then shut car off and tirn back on. TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AT 91000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE VALVE SOLENOID AND REPROGRAM COMPUTER DONE BY FORD DEALERSHIP. THIS WORKED FOR ABOUT 2 TO 3 MONTHS AT WHICH POINT THE TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. IT WOULD STALL AND THEN SHIFT REALLY HARD WHEN COMING UP TO SPEED WHICH RESULTED IN A JERKING OF THE CAR. ALSO WOULD JERK WHEN TRYING TO COME TO A STOP. I HAD A FEW CLOSE CALLS WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT SINCE I CAN NOT SPEED UP WITHOUT IT JERKING AND I COULDN'T SLOW DOWN FAST WITHOUT IT JERKING AND WANTING TO JUMP FORWARD. I HAVE PUT AN AFTERMARKET INLINE TRANSMISSION FILTER IN AND HAVE TO CHANGE THE FILTER AND FLUID EVERY 2500 TO 3500 MILES. WHEN I DO THIS IT HELPS FOR A SHORT PERIOD AND THEN IT ACTS UP AGAIN. I KNOW THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AND I WILL EITHER END UP IN A CRASH OR HAVING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION EVENTUALLY. *TR

WHILE RUNNING THE AIR CONDITIONER, THEN EITHER BRIEFLY SHUTTING OFF ENGINE OR IDLING IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, ONCE THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE GEAR THE ENGINE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN, FOOT BREAK IS ON. when I’m The vehicle and the temperature reaches middle temp ,the car starts to beep and all the dashboard lights go completely out and the head lights and tail lights be blinking as if they are about to go off . Even when I have the heater or a/c on they turns off and I’m a afraid that if or when I’m on the highway all my lights will just stop working on the middle of the highway at night and no one will be able to see me. And that will cause a big wreck and maybe kill myself or worst someone else. I have looked my car up to see if it has a recall but none are given. I’m afraid for the safety of my fellow drivers on the at night . And I don’t know what to do about this problem.

LOW BEAM HEADLAMP SOCKET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FAILED. ONE OF THE SOCKET CONTACTS SHOWED EVIDENCE OF A CATASTROPHIC ELECTRICAL FAILURE - LOOKS LIKE SEVERE ARCING, BURNED PLASTIC, BROKEN SOCKET SHELL AND BADLY BURNED PIN IN THE LAMP. THE LAMP ITSELF IS STILL O.K., EXCEPT FOR THE BADLY BURNED PIN. ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE LOW BEAM LAMP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. SAME DAMAGE TO THE SAME PIN IN THE SOCKET. THAT LAMP IS ALSO O.K. EXCEPT FOR THE BURNED PIN. THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SOCKETS/VEHICLE WIRING, NOT THE LAMPS. THESE LAMPS ARE MOUNTED QUITE HIGH AND ARE REASONABLY WELL PROTECTED SO IT IS UNLIKELY THAT THIS IS A MOISTURE PROBLEM. THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT SOCKET FROM FORD IS SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS! The contact restarted the vehicle and the transmission worked as designed for a while. While traveling up a hill or at a stop light, the vehicle would drift backwards. The contact had to let the vehicle drift to shift into gear. At times the vehicle failed to shift. The engine and wrench warning lights were illuminated. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR THE A/C HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY. I HAVE A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. I PURCHASED IT USED IN JAN 2012. MY CAR CONTINUALLY LURCHES FORWARD WHILE SITTING STILL. THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT COOL WHILE IDLING IF IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH LOSING ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. I WILL BE DRIVING AND ALL GAUGES WILL BOTTOM OUT AND THEN REV UP TO THE HIGHEST. MY RPMS WILL DROP DOWN, THE GAS GAUGE WILL GO TO EMPTY AND AT NIGHT ALL ELECTRICAL LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD NOTIFICATIONS WILL LIGHT UP AND THEN GO OFF. THE BRAKES ARE SPONGY. VERY SELDOM THEY WILL BE NORMAL. MOST OF THE TIME THEY WILL BE SOFT AND HAVE TO BE PUMPED. SOMETIMES THE BRAKES WILL BE FIRM FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND THEN THE PEDAL WILL SINK TO THE FLOORBOARDS. BEFORE JULY 2010 I BEGAN NOTICING THAT MY ENGINE WOULD RACE UP TO 1500 RPM WHILE IDLING. I WOULD ALWAYS KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE SO THE CAR WOULD NOT LURCH FORWARD. THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE DUE TO BUILD UP WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODY'S VALVE CAUSING IT TO STICK OPEN OR STAY CLOSED DURING REVERSE AND FORWARD DRIVING. THIS IN RETURN CAUSES A SURGE WHERE AT ANY UNSUSPECTING MOMENT THE VEHICLE WOOD ATTEMPT TO DRIVE EITHER IN REVERSE OR FORWARD ON ITS OWN REGARDLESS YOU PHYSICALLY PRESSING THE BRAKES OR THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WIZ 2005 2006 AND 2007 FORD 500 AND SOME MODELS OTHER THAN THE 500 SUCH AS FORD FREESTYLE FORD MONTEGO. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND IF NOT ALREADY WILL CAUSE BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. IN MY PARTICULAR INCIDENT MY VEHICLE HAVE SURGED ON A BYPASS CAUSING ME TO ALMOST REAR END A LARGE TRUCK AT SPEEDS UP TO 70 MILES PER HOUR. THERE HAD ALSO BEEN COUNTLESS INCIDENTS OF MY VEHICLE REVERTING INTO SAFE MODE WHERE MY CAR I HAD SLOWED FROM 70 TO 75 MILES PER HOUR DOWN TO 20 MILES PER HOUR WITHIN SECONDS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON 7-29-06 WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, THE TIRE, RIM AND A PORTION OF THE WHEEL HAD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL BUT WAS STILL ATTACHED. THE INCIDENT RESULTED IN THE CONTACT LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, BUT NO ONE WAS INJURED. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE DRIFTED TO THE LEFT RAPIDLY. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME COMING DOWN FARROW RD. AND MY CAR STALLED OUT, SO I SLOWLY PULLED IN THE MEDIAN TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON. WHEN I GOT READY TO PULL OUT OF THE MEDIAN THE CAR WOULDN'T GO NO FASTER THAN 5 MILES AND HOUR. SO I HAD MY FRIEND HELP ME PULL IT OUT OF THE ROAD AND TAKE ME HOME AND TOW MY CAR TO THE HOUSE. WHEN I GOT IT HOME THERE WASN'T ANY ACCELERATION, RPMS WONT MOVE AT ALL, CAR HAS POWER AND CRANKS BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE. IT STALLS AND CUTS OFF, EVEN IN NEUTRAL NO ACCELERATION. EVERYTHING LIGHTS UP AND CUTS ON BUT NO ACCELERATION. BATTERY JUST GOES DEAD OVER NIGHT. SIGNAL LIGHTS MELTED AND QUIT WORKING. CLUSTER PANEL JUST SHUTS OFF WHILE RUNNING AND CAN'T USE AIR, RADIO, WINDOWS, LOCKS, SEATS, ETC. CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HAVE REPLACED ALL PARTS SUGGESTED BY CODES. STILL NO FIX. WONT SHIFT FROM FIRST GEAR AFTER CLUSTER PANEL SHUTS OFF. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OTHER COMPLAINTS. PULLED IN DROP OFF A DONATION AT A SECOND HAND STORE. I PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE; OPENED THE TRUNK; AND LOOKED UP STARTLED WHEN A GUY SITTING NEARBY SAID THAT MY CAR WAS SMOKING AND ON FIRE (ABOUT 10 SECONDS SINCE I SWITCHED THE CAR OFF AND GOT OUT). HE WAS ON THE RIGHT, SO I MOVED AROUND THE CAR TO THE RIGHT LOOKING TOWARDS THE ENGINE. AN EMPLOYEE OF THE STORE THAT WAS ON THE BACK, LEFT SIDE OF THE CAR POINTED TOWARDS AND SAID, 'LOOK! YOUR SIDE MIRROR IS ON FIRE!' I THEN SAW THE SMOKE BILLOWING TO THE LEFT (A STRONG AFTERNOON BREEZE WAS BLOWING NORTH). I CAME AROUND AND PEERED IN BEHIND THE ACTUAL 'MIRROR' PART; THE FIRE HAD JUST GONE OUT. LOOKING AT IT, I COULD SEE IT WAS THE SECURITY LIGHT ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE MIRROR; IT WAS COMPLETELY MELTED AND FUSED TO THE MIRROR HOUSING- A BUBBLY MESS OF PLASTIC. IT SMELLED OF ACRID, MELTED PLASTIC AND BURNED ELECTRONICS. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE MIRROR HAD CAUGHT FIRE AND STARTED BURNING FOR A BIT BEFORE THE FUSE FINALLY BLEW. I AM SO GLAD MY BABY AND KINDERGARTENER WEREN'T IN THE CAR AT THIS TIME! THEY USUALLY ARE. THE LENGTH OF TIME OF TIME IT TOOK FOR THE FUSE TO FINALLY BLOW IS QUITE ALARMING! IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE RAPID SPREAD OF A FIRE THAT WOULD QUICKLY OVERTAKE THE VEHICLE. WHAT IF I WAS AT A GAS STATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED WHEN THEIR HAPPENED TO BE SOME PETROL-VAPOR PRESENT. MY NEXT STOP WAS TO GET TWO PROPANE TANKS FILLED. THEY HAVE TO BLEED OFF A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PROPANE EACH TIME WHEN FINISHED FILLING A TANK. IT ISN'T FAR FETCHED THAT THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH FAILED SAFEGUARDS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN FAR MORE INJURY THAN MY SLIGHTLY BURNED FINGERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENS TO SOMEONE. THIS IS A FANTASTIC CAR! WE LOVE IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND HAVING TO BRAKE ABRUPTLY, THERE WAS A HESITATION IN BRAKING RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THREE SETS OF REAR BRAKE PADS WERE INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO DIM. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF AND NOTICED THAT THE PIG TAIL SOCKET HAD SHORTENED. THE PIG TAIL SOCKET WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE THIS MORNING (FIRST SUB-FREEZING DAY HERE AND FIRST TIME THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN GARAGED), THE DRIVER DOOR DID NOT LATCH. REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO SECURE THE DOOR BOTH FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE FAILED. I HELD THE DOOR CLOSED FOR A 10-MINUTE DRIVE AND PARTIALLY THROUGH THE TRIP IT PARTIALLY LATCHED AND BY THE TIME I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION THE DOOR LATCHED AND LOCKED. THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE COMPLETELY WHEN PUSHING THE RELEASE BUTTON. ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE SEAT BELT BACK INTO THE BUCKLE TO SEE IF THE RELEASE BUTTON WOULD WORK TO RELEASE THE BUCKLE. THE RELEASE BUTTON WAS STUCK DOWN IN THE BUCKLE AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE BELT OUT. I HAD TO CLIMB OUT OF THE SEAT BELT AND NOW I AM UNABLE TO USE THE SEAT BELT. CRUISING APPROX 65 MPH. I HEARD A THUD (LIKE RUNNING OVER A POT HOLE). THE CAR LURCHED FWD THEN SEEMED TO SHUT OFF, HOWEVER IT WAS STILL RUNNING. THE RPM DROPPED BELOW 1000 AND THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT WORK. PLACED CAR IN NEUTRAL AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOTICED THE WRENCH LITE WAS ILLUMINATED. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CAR SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE AFTER THAT WITH NO LITE. TOOK THE CAR TO HAVE THE CODES CHECKED. TWO CODES SHOWED: THROTTLE STUCK CLOSED AND THE THROTTLE FORCED TO IDLE (APPARENTLY A SAFETY FEATURE). TWO DAYS AGO HAD TO HAVE THE PCM AND TCM UPDATED AND REPLACED THE UPPER MOTOR MOUNT. FROM PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS THERE ARE SEVERAL WITH THE CAR TAKING OFF AND A FEW OF WITH MY ISSUE. ALL SEEMED TO BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONING WHICH IS APPARENTLY THE CASE HERE. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES CONCERNING THIS ITEM, SURELY THERE IS A RECALL REQUIRED. STARTING SINCE FEBRUARY 2010. MY CAR LUNGES FORWARD WHENEVER AT A DEAD STOP. WHEN SHIFTING TO DRIVE AND REVERSE. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY FOOT ON BRAKE AND EVEN ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE PARKING AND HIT THE WALL. WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS MY ENGINE MOUNT THAT WAS CAUSING IT. THEN WENT AGAIN BECAUSE THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. THEN THEY CLAIMED IT WAS MY AIR FILTER WHICH IS A LIE. I CALLED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS TAKE DOWN WHEN I CALLED AND WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. THEY ARE NO HELP WHAT SO EVER SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THEM EVEN EXISTING IF THEY CANT HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM EACH DEALER IS INDEPENDENT AND THAT THEY CAN ADVISE THAT I GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. I HAVE WASTED A GOOD DEAL OF TIME AND MONEY. LUCKILY I WAS SMART AND BOUGHT THAT PREMIUM EXTENDED WARRANTY. I STILL HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO OVER $400 ON REPAIRS. EACH TIME I WENT I HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE OF $100.00. THE BATTERY I WENT TO SAMS CLUB TO GET BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED $140 BUT I GOT MINE FOR $75. THEY ADVISED TO GET MY THROTTLE BODY CLEAN AND THAT WAS $95. THEY SAID I NEED TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED WHICH IS ANOTHER LIE. I DIDN'T GET THAT DONE BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 60,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS AS RED AS CAN BE AND IS STILL GOOD FOR PROBABLY ANOTHER 40,000 MILES. THE POINT IS FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IT APPARENTLY IS HAPPENING TO TONS OF FOLKS OUT THERE. THEY NEED TO JUST FIX IT BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY THROTTLE BODY CLEANED THE PROBLEM STILL COMES BACK HERE AND THERE. I JUST HOPE THAT NO ONE GETS KILLED AND THEN FORD WILL FINALLY GET THIS RIGHT. GOT BACK IN CAR, PUT FOOT ON BREAK PEDAL, SHIFTED CAR INTO REVERSE, LIFTED FOOT OFF BREAK PEDAL AND CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED BACKWARDS. SLAMMED BREAKS ON AND CAR SHUT OFF. CAR HAD NO PROBLEM CRANKING RIGHT UP. DID THE SAME THING AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME I HAD IT IN DRIVE. HIT THE BREAKS, CAR DIES AGAIN. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY ON MY 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED AND I ACTUALLY HAD IT REPLACED IN 2007 AT APPROX 23,000 MILES (I NOW HAVE 69,500 MILES). CAR IS AWD. THANK GOD I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UNTIL 75,000 MILES THAT WILL COVER THIS BUT IT SEEMS THE PART TO FIX IT IS ON BACKORDER AND THEY ARE NOT SURE WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE (THAT IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING HOW MUCH I HAVE READ ABOUT "THROTTLE BODY ISSUES" WITH THIS CAR.) TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-26 ACROSS THE TN/NC BORDER THROUGH SAM'S GAP ON A SNOWY DAY LED ME TO DRIVE VERY SLOW AND COME TO A STOP AT THE TRUCK INFORMATION AREA AT THE TOP OF THE HILL. WHEN I SAW A LARGE TRANSFER TRUCK PULL OUT ONTO THE ROAD AND PROCEED DOWN THE HILL I FELT IT WAS SAFE TO FOLLOW. THIS TRUCK WAS MOVING A LOT FASTER THAN I WAS AND I WAS "COVERING THE BRAKE" AND TAPPING IT OCCASIONALLY DOWN THE STEEP INCLINE, BUT THERE WAS ICE ON THE ROAD AND WHEN I TAPPED THE BRAKES THE CAR BEGAN TO SPIN AND HIT THE CONCRETE MEDIAN ON ALL 4 CORNERS OF THE VEHICLE WITH PRETTY STRONG FORCE. THE SEAT BELT CORRECTLY LOCKED DOWN ON THE DRIVER SIDE, BUT THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND I COULD SMELL LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING. I ASSUMED THIS WAS THE COMPOUND USED IN THE AIR BAG. WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED, I WAS GIVEN A CITATION FOR DRIVING TOO FAST FOR THE CONDITIONS AND ANOTHER BECAUSE THE INSURANCE RECENTLY LAPSED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOOK THE CAR TO THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL (DRIVING TOO FAST FOR THE CONDITIONS BY THE WAY) AND DECLARED THE CAR DRIVABLE SINCE THERE WERE NO FLUIDS LEAKING AND THE CAR WOULD STILL CRANK. THE FUEL SYSTEM HAD TO BE RESET, BECAUSE IT CORRECTLY SHUT OFF DUE TO THE IMPACT. THE SEATBELT WAS LOCKED DOWN COMPLETELY AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. SINCE THERE WAS NO SNOW BEYOND THE SAM'S GAP AREA, I DECIDED TO DRIVE HOME AND PARK THE CAR BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE MONEY FOR A HOTEL OR FOR ADDITIONAL TOWING AND THE PERSON AT THE NC WELCOME CENTER SAID WE WERE EXPERIENCING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. SO RATHER THAN FREEZE TO DEATH OR ASK SOMEONE ELSE TO PUT THEMSELVES IN DANGER TO COME GET ME I DROVE HIM WITH THE AIRBAG / SEATBELT LIGHTS ALARMING. THE BODY SHOP PERSON I SPOKE WITH SAID THAT I NEEDED TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE RESTRAINT/AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE THEY CAN WORK ON IT BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF THE SYSTEM DEPLOYING WITHOUT WARNING. *TR

IN JUNE 2007, MY WIFE TOOK OUR 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED (SEL) TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE. SHE WAS INFORMED AT THE TIME THAT SHE NEEDED TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED. THE CAR HAD ONLY 26,800 MILES ON IT. I WAS IN DISBELIEF AND TOLD HER NOT TO ALLOW THE WORK. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN AUTO SERVICE CENTER THAT I TRUSTED THE NEXT DAY. SURE ENOUGH, THE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD THEM DO THE WORK. I THEN COMPLAINED TO THE LOCAL DEALER THAT THIS WEAR RATE WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND CARS NORMALLY GO SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER BEFORE NEEDING REAR PAD REPLACEMENT. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THEM STATING THAT THE "BRAKE WEAR ON YOUR VEHICLE IS CONSIDERED TO BE WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS" . I KNEW THIS WAS NOT TRUE. IN JULY, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR CO. STATING THAT THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE REAR PADS TO 36,000. I RECEIVED A REFUND FROM THE DEALER. JUST RECENTLY AT 68,584 MILES, WE HAD TO HAVE THE PADS REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. I DON'T THINK THIS IS ACCEPTABLE WEAR FOR THESE PADS. IT COST US $227.01 TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. MY WIFE USES THIS CAR FOR BUSINESS, SO IT LOOKS LIKE WE'LL NEED TO PLAN ON REPLACING THESE PADS EVERY YEAR. INTERESTINGLY, THE FRONT PADS HAVE NOT WORN OUT YET. THE SECOND PROBLEM WE HAVE HAD IS WITH THE TIE ROD END LINKS WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 53,671 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO PERFORM THIS REPLACEMENT ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE I'VE OWNED, MANY HAVE GONE WELL OVER 100,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IN THIS RESPECT. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKES/ROTORS ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED 2 YEARS STRAIGHT AND NOW THIS IS THE THIRD YEAR AND THE SAME PROBLEM IS DEVELOPING. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS PAID FOR BY FORD. A YEAR LATER, CROWN FORD INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY, BUT REDUCED THE COST BY ONLY CHARGING ME FOR PARTS, WHICH WAS OVER $300.00+. UPON GETTING A FRONT-END ALIGNMENT, I WAS TOLD BY FIRESTONE THAT THE REAR ROTORS WILL SOON NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A PROBLEM HERE WITH THIS CAR AND BRAKES AND I FEEL I AM BEING MISLEAD. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2006, THE CONTACT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING BRAKE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATES UNEXPECTEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A TOTAL OF SIX TIMES AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE AND CHANGED THE BRAKES EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE FAILED COMPLETELY AND WAS TOWED TO HER RESIDENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,922. ON JAN 8, 2009, I HAD TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 1050 MILES FROM OKLAHOMA TO OHIO. WHILE IN OHIO, 6 INCHES OF SNOW HAD FALLEN, AND THE ROADS WERE SLICK WITH SNOW AND ICE. IN PREPARING FOR MY RETURN TRIP ON JAN 11, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN CONTROL AND BRAKING IN THE VEHICLE. UPON DRIVING FURTHER, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REVERSE WITH A HUGE "BANG" SOUND AND VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE'S CVT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS IN DRIVE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, AND BACK ON, ALL LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF, AND COME BACK ON WITHIN 5 MINUTES. AFTER THE 6TH RESTART, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT, AFTER A FEW RESTARTS, DID NOT COME BACK ON. HOWEVER, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STAYED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 650 MILES. AFTER THAT TIME, ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT, BUT THE RPMS WENT FROM 2000 TO 3500 ON THEIR OWN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL ON A FLAT ROAD. THAT CORRECTED ITSELF ABOUT 100 MILES LATER. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER ON MY RETURN, THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE NO LIGHTS WERE ON, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOW ACTING NORMALLY, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MY FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES IN 14 DAYS, AND I AM NOT SURE IF I'LL BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER BY THAT TIME. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BLAMED THE MALFUNCTION ON THE COLD WEATHER AND THE SNOW, BUT THE AWD VEHICLE WITH TRACTION CONTROL WAS, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, MANUFACTURED TO DEAL WITH SNOW AND COLD WEATHER. WE HAVE A 2006 FORD 500 WHICH HAD THE CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACED AFTER 4 WEEKS. THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN ENGAGING IN REVERSE. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER DID NOT WAIT UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND HAVE ON OCCASION LURCHED BACKWARDS ALMOST RUNNING OVER HER LITTLE BROTHER. WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR ON A DECLINE THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD WHEN IN REVERSE UNTIL IT ENGAGES AND THE USER DEPRESSES THE THROTTLE. OLATHE FORD AND A FACTORY REP. INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND SUPPOSEDLY THE VEHICLE IS WITHIN SPECS. I DON'T THINK SO, THE CAR ALSO WHINES WHEN TURNING CORNERS. I THINK THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS OUT OF SPECS. FORD DOESN'T USE IT ANYMORE, NOR DO I WANT TO. I HAVE HAD MANY FORDS, THIS WILL BE MY LAST IF THIS ISN'T RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE ALIGNED AND THE STRUTS CHANGED AT THAT TIME. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 30,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TIRES WERE ONLY DAMAGED ON THE LEFT SIDE, AND THEY HAD TO LOWER THE STRUTS AND ROTATE THE UPPER MOUNTS TO GET VEHICLE TO ALIGN PROPERLY. THE CONSUMER FURTHER STATED THAT THIS NO FAULT OF THE DEALER BUT THAT FORD AUTHORIZE 50% REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE TIRES AND NONE FOR THE ALIGNMENT. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED A COPY OF THE REPAIR INVOICE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAS A STATIC BUILD UP AND ABOUT EIGHTY PERCENT OF THE TIME THE CONTACT EXITS THE VEHICLE THEY ARE SHOCKED. THIS ONLY OCCURS WHILE EXITING NOT ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW AND THE DEALER DETERMINED IT IS THE CLOTH SEATS AND IS NOT FIXABLE.
